hmm what to say about my dreamwalker au? it starts with li cu as he somehow conveniently became a plot point after my oneshot for him and xiaoge. so i have the beginning figured out where li cu suddenly falls into a coma (or this very deep sleep equal to a coma) and wu xie calls liu sang and asks him for a favor. wu xie wants him to dreamwalk into li cu's mind so they can get a hint on what is going on with him. liu sang is a bit against it bc he doesn't really Enjoy dreamwalking but he does it still. wu xie's puppy eyes are kind of strong. and well, his ouxiang is there. a huge plus.

so during liu sang's trip to li cu's mind, he discovers that somehow one of the nightmare demons got into li cu during his and xiaoge's adventure and is now eating on his energy and his mind or something. so li cu is kind of trapped in this endless nightmare. it's all a bit vague in my mind still but that's kind of like the main problem in this - how to save li cu? how to end his nightmare?

well, liu sang cannot really do anything about all of this alone bc he cannot fight a nightmare demon. he is simply the dreamwalker. he cannot affect the dream world, he can only visit there. but what he can do is he can bring one person with him into the dream world. but no one alone can kill the nightmare or get rid of it (especially when xiaoge as a nightmare creature cannot dreamwalk with liu sang). so they need help from somewhere else.

my initial plan was that at this point, i bring in zhang rishan who is... somewhat a nightmare creature too as a zhang but. not quite? not the same way as xiaoge is. but he cannot help them by himself either (he is just. different? i dunno if he will ever explain it further). he proposes that their next option would be to drag li cu's dream out of his head and make it accessible for more ppl that way. if the dream was "real", more than just one person would be able to dreamwalk with liu sang in there. rishan, wu xie and possibly hei xiazi could go there together, maybe pangzi too. like that they might have a chance to save li cu. but who would be able to make a dream into a real thing? that type of dreamers are about as rare as liu sang as the dreamwalker.

throw in ba ye bc i desperately want him and wu xie to meet up and exist in the same timeline and i really want some fuba content. but ba ye is dead, you might say. rishan has a solution to this too! bc ba ye isn't exactly dead. he just got trapped into one of the dreams he made real and is now on the other side of the bronze gate (which is somehow the dreamworld in this? don't ask details about this i have no idea). but hey, they have a dreamwalker! liu sang can go past the gate and get ba ye back! bc he can walk in dreams and so he can walk on the other side of the gate too right? he can go to the places in there that xiaoge as a nightmare creature cannot go to bc he's limited by his origin and duty. xiaoge himself is not super thrilled about this idea bc he knows what is on the other side of that gate but. li cu's death is worse, he supposes. liu sang can manage. xiaoge will make sure of it bc at least there he is able to follow liu sang to a certain extent (cue some liu sang + his ouxiang bonding time in the dream world).

and then they bring ba ye back and rishan gets to meet him again (and love him again). and ba ye promises to help them get li cu back. and ba ye is very interested in wu xie's power as this some kind of guiding light of all the dreamers and idk, maybe they bond over their zhangs. i haven't gotten that far :'D but this is about it. a bit complicated? mayhaps but what am i if not ambitious when it comes to my stories hhhh

okay genuine question bc I don't know enough about vague timeliness and vague ages. Isn't Cass supposed to be older than Jason in theory, and doesn't that make her like. in her Twenties?

So pre-New 52, Cass and Jason would have been roughly the same age, but its not actually said on page who would be older as far as I’m aware, we just get this:

I think people usually see Cass as older than him since her birthday [Jan 26] is earlier in the calendar year than his [Aug 16] (also Jason did spend 6 months dead & thus not aging, so even if he’d technically been older originally [like, his birthday being August of one year and hers being five months later in the following January], she’d have caught up & become older by a month in terms of physical age)

But also in the pre-New 52 world, it’s worth noting that that universe ended and the reboot happened before either her or Jason actually reached their 20s. Cass and Jason are both shown to be approximately 2 years older than Tim (Jason from basically the start if we consider how he was 15 at time of death and Tim was 13 when he got introduced shortly after, and how Tim turned 16 within a year [publication-wise] of when Cass starts being considered 18). We don’t really get ages for either Jason or Cass frequently by the end, but we do know Tim is 17 during Red Robin (which goes up to the end of the Pre-New 52 world) so if we keep the previously established age difference, that would have Jason & Cass both at around 19 right before the reboot.

But then the reboot happened, Tim got pushed back down to 16, Jason’s age is literally never officially addressed and his entire backstory gets altered so its not like we can really use the same timeline we previously had for him to determine it, and Cass is wiped from existence until 2015.

Every time we’ve gotten any indication on Cass’ age since she came back its just been to call her a teenager, without any specific age attatched to it, so like while it’s unclear by how much she was very likely aged down. Tim has been 16 the entire time. There was a vague hint that Jason’s gotta be at least in his twenties now in Red Hood #51 (because his friend from before Bruce took him in says she agreed to watch his apartment 12 years ago, meaning as long as he was 8 or older when Bruce took him in which by all versions of his story he absolutely was, then he’d be at least 20 now) but that’s really it.

Now it’s unclear if/how Infinite Frontier era may be altering all of this, but considering solicits for the Batgirls series do refer to Steph & Cass as teens it seems likely they’re keeping them around their reboot ages rather than restoring the old ones/letting them age. I hope they’re at least more in the 18/19 range of teens though and that gets addressed. (and similarly have Tim be closer to 17/18 now, though I doubt Batgirls would touch on that, it’d more likely be in his Urban Legends story. Jason I don’t think we’re getting any clearer indication on age any time soon though, I think DC just considers him nebulous early 20’s these days)

Soooo yeah. If the New 52 hadn’t happened Cass would prob be in her twenties and around Jason’s age, however… It did and he’s been implied to be around that age while she’s still considered a teen. I really wish Infinite Frontier had just right off the bat restored the old age differences (but nooooooo thatd make bruce seem too oooooold 😒)

more comics timeline shit i’ve been working on and thinking of that is a mix of canon and my own headcanons bc comics timeline sucks but even so fucking more so after the rebirth jesus fucking christ: 

disclaimer: aka this is a mess and it’s not really coherent. i’m also ignoring the huge and loving shit out of rebirth because the timeline in that is just fucking messy, like, holy hell batman, they literally had tim never be robin what???? 

bruce has been batman for a year when the murder of the flying graysons happened. dick is ten when the murder occurs and is out on the streets of gotham as robin a little before he turns eleven. the league does not exist yet, nor has batman met superman. 

yes, that does mean that tim is four when he meets dick for the first time and witnesses the flying graysons’ death. it’s probably one of his first memories, like, holy fuck. 

batman and superman meet and learn of each other’s secret identities not too long after dick comes into the picture as robin. it also tends to be one of their earlier points of contention until superman meets robin himself and gets absolutely charmed by him. well, both of them charm the other and they maintain a long friendship that lasts for years. 

am i talking about bruce and clark or dick and clark? both, really. 

personally, i also prefer justice league of america #144′s creation of the justice league since that’s the version i grew up with, but i can work with the new 52 version of the justice league’s creation all the same, it would just have to be after dick becomes robin but before the titans are created when dick is fourteen. 

the titans still retain their original ages from before the reboot, so they’re all ( dick, garth, wally, roy, and donna ) fourteen when the titans are founded. the original five titans remain to be one of dick’s best friendships that have managed to be retained over the years, even after everything that’s happened between them and to them, together and individually. 

jason is approximately 13-14 when he becomes robin and is adopted by bruce. since he dies at age, what, 15-16, that means he had roughly two-three years as robin in comparison to dick’s eight, ouch. 

tim is two years younger than jason in my timeline, which means that tim is 13-14 when he becomes robin, and then gets fired by dickbats when he’s 17, so... he gets almost three years on the job as robin ( if you subtract the time that he was fired and steph was subbed in as robin until her “death” ), which is also ouch. 

........ i fucking had damian die at eleven i fucking forgot, oh, man, ow. at least he’s revived and back as robin, right? hahahahahahaha. 

i also just realised... timeline wise... i have jason’s death... then the blockbuster / tarantula arc... then the renegade arc... and blüdhaven being destroyed.... all in the same year.... oh god that’s really dick’s year from hell.

wait didn’t jason come back right before blüdhaven was destroyed or something bc we had that weird jason monster storyline or something? god, i had hoped i hallucinated that, but i don’t think i did... damn, when did that happen in the canon timeline, i honestly forgot. 

god i fucking hate comics timelines. 

the three biggest romantic relationships that dick has in his comics verse are dickbabs, dickori, and dickroy. no, i will not take criticism. 

he had a huge “will they or won’t they” with wally in a lot of people’s eyes before wally met linda and fell in love with her. whether or not dick has ever had romantic feelings for wally is not something he would ever admit to being true, even if it was. for the sake of me just loving the shit out of platonic!wallydick, dick thought he was loved wally in that way once, but nothing came of it because he never made a move and wally never did either. they don’t hold any bad feelings about never trying. 

dick and donna are platonic soulmates for life. she’s the only one from the original titans that he’s never had any sort of a romantic inkling for ( and, yes, that does mean that i’m hinting that dick had a bit of a crush on garth once or twice throughout the years ).
