yes… one dog one cuban tree frog and the current aquarium count is 1 betta fish, 7 white cloud mountain minnows, 5 golden white cloud mountain minnows, ~15 red neocaridina shrimp and an unknown amount of pest snails and other various aquatic crawly things. gonna get a lot more fish soon tho once i stock the big tank :)

i like art ofc but like. big on biology and also really liked human geography. also very much an ela kid.

oooogh this is hard i feel like there’s a lot of very different things i could have fun with. something in biology/ecology with lots of field work and travel could be cool i love going places and seeing animals and learning about them. but the main one would maybe be like… a really good filmmaker or showrunner. like that people really like and appreciate my work. i just like to tell stories :)

Jabberwock Redesigns + Headcanons (pictures incld. read description)

Thought it'd be fun to redesign/edit pics of Jabberwock from knb, bc I've never really liked their designs (for various reasons).

This is a looooong post, so it's going below a cut, but I hope you enjoy!

Prefacing with these are just my opinions/headcanons.

One of my main issues with Last Game has always been the change in animation style. Characters' hair seems flatter, their eyes smaller, their frames lankier, they also seem much older than they actually are due to an abundance of fine linework. Another thing that always bugged me was Jabberwock. Besides from having only really 2 characters of note (Nash and Jason) their designs were just so....jarring. It didn't feel like these were characters who existed in the world of knb. So I've always wanted to try to redesign them. These are less redesigns, and more like headcanons + edits. I feel like I would draw them (namely Nick, Allen, and Zach) differently if I had the chance (to make them more distinct). But that is a job for another day. A post over on the other subreddit got me thinking harder about my Jabberwock headcanons, and I've always wanted to try to "fix" what I found wrong with their designs, so that's what this post is inspired by. I namely wanted to make it look like you could find these designs for Jabberwock in the anime TV series and not find them aesthetically out of place.

Before I get into my redesigns + explanations, I want to go over something very quickly.

Names in KnB

Canonically, every group/team/character in KnB is given a name with significance by the creator, Fujimaki-sensei. It's one of my most favorite things about knb; how much thought goes into a simple name. A character's first/given name in knb signifies their character traits (Ryouta means "cool boy", Shintaro means "serious son/boy", Atsushi means "serene", etc). A character's last/family name groups them together with their teammates with some sort of theme (the Miracles have colors in their family/lastnames, Kaijo's are names of Japanese rivers, Shutoku's are names of Japanese mountains, etc). Jabberwock's theme for last/family names is precious metals (as assigned by Fujimaki). Of the five significant/named characters in Jabberwock, only two of them have both a first/given and last/family name (Nash Gold Jr and Jason Silver). "Gold" and "silver" being the two precious metals represented by each character. The rest of Jabberwock doesn't have last/family names, and their first/given names are the reference to the precious metal (Allen; aluminum, Nick; nickel, Zach; zinc). So, you can see why this bothers me (bc I'm insane); only two characters match the rest of the knb's cast's pattern of naming. So, a major change I'd make would be to assign lastnames to/rename Allen, Nick, and Zach. But even then, Nash and Jason's last/given names are outliers too, as their names are simply the name of the previous metals by themselves. I've always seen Jabberwock as mirrors to the GoM, and the GoM's last/family names not only have the name of a color in them, but also another word, so their names aren't simply the name of a color on it's own (for example, Kuroko is "kuro" [black] + "ko" [child] and not just simply "Kuro" [Black]). So, if I had control, I would also modify Nash and Jason's last/family names so they weren't simply just the name of the previous metal on it's own. The GoM also have hair + eye colors that are reflective of the color in their names (besides Kuroko, who's color is "black", yet is assigned light blue). So, I would also recolor Jabberwock to have hair + eyecolors that match the colors of the precious metals in their names.

So, here are the main points to keep in mind as you read through this post and look at my redesigns:

- I want Jabberwock to look like they would fit into the anime TV series' style

- I would re-name them so they all fit a theme + pattern established by the main series/Fujimaki

- I would recolor their hair + eyes to reflect the colors of the precious metals alluded to in their names

Okay, now here we go.

Nash Goldbourne Jr.

I feel like Nash would have a name that sounds pretty distinguished, and is perhaps from a well-regarded family, but is sort of the wayward son. So, "goldbourne" seems sort of thematic to me (aka, it means to me "born-into-wealth"). I would also give him darker hair, that is more golden and less flaxen. His eyes are green canonically, but again, I want all of Jabberwock's hair and eye colors to match their precious metals, so I'd change those to gold too. I also feel like his Belial Eye would look extra cool all golden (and would serve as a good mirror to Akashi's golden Emperor Eye). He is also the only character in all of knb to have eyelashes the same color as his hair?? So I would take that away and make 'em black, like everyone else. Nash's OG design just looks too much like Alex (light blonde hair, green eyes) to me. (Alex also has black eyelashes despite being white, just as Nash, so it's not like it's a stylistic choice assigned to all caucasian characters). Jabberwock has a lot of piercings, so I thought it'd be fun if all their piercings were made of the precious metal in their names, so I changed Nash's silver piercings to gold. He still looks a little like Kise, but that was the case for his OG design anyway sooo. -shrug-

Jason Silverton

So. Elephant in the room; anime is notoriously bad at designing characters' of African descent. In specific, I've noticed over the years that a lot of anime artists love to give African characters beady eyes, despite the fact that every other characters' eyes are exaggerated/accentuated. They also love to add a lot of fine linework, which, imo, creates the illusion of wrinkles, which can cause characters to look significantly older than they actually are. Fujimaki/knb is no exception. Jabberwock's members are all in their late teens-early 20s (at most). So, basically, you'll notice a major thing I did for all of Jabberwock's members (that I personally think improved their designs significantly) was simply enlarge their eyes and irises + remove some of their wrinkles. Canon Jason's hair is also very white to me, and doesn't really convey "silver" imo. I don't think I executed it that well, but I think it would be fun if Jason had that same duo-toned hair that Kagami and Aomine had. I think it would be a fun way to allude to the reflective/shiny nature of actual silver. I don't really have a fun explanation behind "Silverton" like I do for Nash's lastname, other than I think it sounds nice and that something, somewhere in the far recesses of my mind is telling me that some sort of irl athlete has the last name Silverton...? Someone lmk is I'm crazy or not.

Nicholas "Nick" Nickells

His OG design wasn't so bad, but he suffered from small eyes + excessive wrinkles like everyone else, so I adjusted those to help make him look younger. If I had full control, I'd probably make his hair sliiightly longer, so that Nick's hair less resembles Jason's hair and also makes it so Nash doesn't stand out too much as the only character with longer hair (I think it'd help make him look more youthful too). Also, I had no issue with his OG hair color, but since I wanted to keep him on theme with everybody else, I changed his hair color to resemble the hue of actual nickel a little more (and his piercings!). Canonically, he is only known as "Nick", and since I decided to give all the lastname-less Jabberwock characters lastnames, I thought "Nick Nick____" would sound very cheesy. And since nicknames are a big thing in the US, I thought it'd be fun that what if his firstname was actually "Nicholas", and all his boys simply dubbed him "Nick" based on his lastname/nickname for his given name?

Zach Bronsley

First things first: I gave him less wrinkles, bigger eyes + irises. Now we are truly entering my "I'm doing whatever I want" portion of this post lol. Canonically, "Zach" is suppose to alluded to "zinc" but it doesn't convey that like at all to me. Zinc is also grey-ish and we've got too many elements that color already imo. Plus, we have gold and silver, why not have a bronze, to truly round out the Olympic medals? (lol). So, since I changed his precious metal to "bronze", I recolored his eyes, eyebrows, and 'stache (to a lesser extent) to be more bronze-y. Plus, piercings are now made of bronze!

Allen Copperty

Last but not least, we have our camera-shy Allen. Seriously, it was so hard to get a decent pic of him (and even then, Nick is still in this frame, I just cropped him out lol). Again; bigger eyes + irises, less wrinkles. His canon element is also aluminum, and just like with "Zack" + "zinc", I don't get "Allen" from "aluminum" at all (plus it's also another grey-ish metal grrrr!!). So, I decided to change his precious metal too. Copper is a very iconic precious metal to me so it came to mind/seemed fitting. Also, if we have nickel, it only seemed right to have copper. So I changed his hair and eye color to a more orangey/coppery brown. And his jewlery, but probably not made of actual copper, bc that shit would turn green so fast lol. I also think it'd be quite fun if he had medium-length dreads or something (akin to Meguro's, but with Allen's sweatband pushing them back, plus perhaps copper-toned tips?; it'd also help make him look more youthful). But I wouldn't have been able to edit that well, so just accept this for now.

scrooge in mafia town - hes there for some lost treasure belonging to the original inhabitants of the now named mafia town, and while looking for it he has to team up with some locals (mustache girl) to take down the mafia and find the treasure

dewey in dead bird studio - he got sucked into the glitz and glam of starring in a movie, and hes suprisingly chill about all the death defying stunts that are typically required for dj grooves and conductors movies! double win!

webby in subcon (obv) - she would be lured there by all of the supernatural history of subcon and she would definitely have alot of fun discovering the secrets of who the snatcher actually is and all the history and stuff like that. plus this is where snatcher is and its kinda a subway to that webby snatcher drawing that started this

huey in alpine skyline - he was going to try his hand at the badge he was tryna get in the mount neverrest episode (i cant remember the name rn im really sleepy) by mapping out the mountains of alpine skyline! while there he accidentally starts spreading the evil seeds (i dont know what to call them 😭) and it leads to him having to fix that (like hat kid did) and hes so caught up in it that he loses his chance at getting his badge

donald in the s.s literally cant sink - he tried to have another stress-free vacation on a boat, and once again, its ruined by some unforseen disaster. either this or he got a job there along with the seals i couldnt decide which fit better

Ohhhh, you have no idea how much I love you right now <333 I've been dying to talk about Tala's mentor, so thank you for the motivation. ---

Tala grew up in an orphanage run by a temple of Lathander. (It's positioned along the foot of a mountain range, hence Mountainsward as a surname for all the kids raised there.) She's been there since she was very young; four at the oldest. And while her acceptance by the other kids has, ah, varied, especially among ones who came when they were older and had more time to develop biases, the priests and staff were always kind.

Tala's mentor, Cameron, is a former adventurer who serves as historian and record-keeper for the temple. He was injured helping defend a village from a group of raiders, which left him with a serious limp and strong recurrent pain in his leg and back. Hardly ideal physical condition for a life of wandering when there were other options available. He has a good attitude about it, referring to teaching as his "latest adventure" and joking about a roomful of 8-14 year olds being more daunting than any beast he faced on the road. He would frequently bribe reward good behavior during history lessons with tales of his adventures, and between how much he'd done and how eloquently he relayed his tales, that was plenty to persuade a gaggle of unruly kids to sit still long enough to learn history first. xD

Tala, however, needed no bribing, she just loves learning(though she's just as enraptured by his tales a the rest). Cameron shooed off kids who were picking on her a few times, she asked for extra book recommendations for various periods of history or wars or whatever for fun reading, and a mentorship was born. :D He encourages her in her studies of both history and religion, is always a calming presence when she gets upset about teasing, gives her challenging writing assignments that make her really dig into research. They develop a father-daughter bond over the course of a couple years.

When he's not teaching he's usually sitting in the gardens to enjoy the sun, sometimes with mending to help out the head laundress(Tala suspects he's sweet on her, but not strongly enough to actually say anything). He was an adventurer for 20+ years, ofc he knows sewing basics. (a skill he'll teach anyone willing to learn) He will sometimes go for walks, but those are usually not long and on relatively flat ground if he doesn't want his back to start spasming.

It's when she's sixteen Tala learns the raiders he got injured fighting were orcs. :) Seeing as a fair number of the other kids can't stop hassling her based purely off orcs' reputation(never mind a) she's only HALF orc and b) they've never encountered an orc themselves), she's very confused why he's never had a problem with her. When she finally asks him about it, Cameron chuckles and says it would be silly to resent a babe who like as not isn't even from the same clan. "Besides, hard t' hate ya when one of the first things y' did was steal Abbess Gereldyne's freshly laundered wimple t' help patch up Toya's scraped knee. I could never hate someone with a heart like that."

When Tala sets off adventuring(bc she wants to do like he did) he's very much "proud papa sending off his little girl" never mind said little girl is now four inches taller than him. xD He makes her promise to tell him all about what she sees and does, and gives her a journal with Lathander's symbol on it(she filled that very fast, but still hangs on to it to show him. It's probably her most prized possession). That's why she's so studious about writing/drawing things that happen to her, she wants to keep record off it anyway, but she's also very excited to tell him and doesn't want to forget anything. She's pretty sure the whole tadpole scenario tops anything he went through. :P

And of course I made him in the BG3 CC; he's very teacher-shaped xD Greying red hair, skin still has a bit of a tan(and FRECKLES), hazel eyes, always smells like ink and herbs.

ugh not to get like yappity about art or whatever but man I think I really need to like rebuild my mindset around it because it wasn't until the species making post(s) that I realized I missed making art I actually had the time to sit down and enjoy every detail And that's the thing I don't really do that now per-say...? Its hard to explain but my current mindset has been just- drawing to get something done To get it finished and out of the way More chore than enjoyment Ive put the pressure of me never finishing anything but I never asked myself why until of recent which--- was obvious of me just- not trusting the process but now that I AM trying to trust the process of it then comes back the issue of "I'm just doing it to check off a list and not enjoy it" because then it gets chore-like and then I don't want to do it And trying not to assess the said thing as a chore is hard when just as a chore it lingers in my head with the need to get done as fast as possible and so I lose interest. So I'm going to try and pull my mind out of that But I didn't realize just how bad this was until a friend mentioned it like a month or so ago with a different thing I was struggling with and when making the species post because with the species post I actually enjoyed myself. I sat down, came up with ideas, and began designing. I had room for change. I didn't have a set goal in mind and the need to finish it whole. And I enjoyed myself. I had fun researching what certain animal traits helped with climbing and imagining what else could make them, if anything, apex sapiens of the mountains. There was no stress in finishing them I don't know where I'm going with this post I just know now I'm gonna try not to force myself with art bc if I do its gonna burn me out quicker and also If anyone have tomato soup for me I'm switching the agenda to potato salad. simon has very nice hands. he has long, slim fingers with manicured nails. he takes care of his nails himself and they're usually pretty short because he works in healthcare and is perpetually wearing gloves.

he is always washing them and cleaning his nails and stuff because hospitals can be gross and more often than not he is wiping up Some bodily fluid so. yeah. he'd rather not have that on his hands at ALL.

his hands are perpetually frigid. slightly concerning, but he's elected to ignore it. even when the rest of him is warm, his hands stay cold and one of his favorite pastimes is to random snake a hand up the back of archie's shirt to see him yelp at the cold. affectionately, of course.

archie:

archie is a nail biter.

I KNOW. he isn't happy about it either. he's gotten a a lot better about since he was a kid because he paints his nails all the time now. it used to just be that clear, bitter polish but he Graduated into fun colors and his nails are almost always some silly design. sometimes, when he's really stressed, simon catches him starting to do it again and he just gently brings his hands down from his mouth and holds them casually and goes about whatever he was doing.

as for hands in general, archie's are a mess of scars from various things (cough cough when his hand literally got impaled) but they are still somehow so warm. theyre gentle.

gene:

gene has Man Hands. they're large, calloused, scarred, and just. you can tell he's done his fair share of manual labor. (but he often wears gloves as deputy. the callouses are from his farm work)

he keeps his nails trimmed short, but because of the nature of his job. they can get pretty dirty. he cleans them with a knife every night before bed.

he has a small little scar right by his wrist bone and that was from when he was trying to pick up an injured mountain lion cub from the middle of the road (incredibly stupid, might i add. he was 17.) and it scratched the HELL out of him. he dodges the question when people ask him where it's from.

cassidy:

cassidy has surprisingly slim hands for a man of his build. they're pretty but in a somehow masculine way if that makes sense. they're always blinged out with his rings and other jewelry and a bit tan from always riding his horse. (his watch tan is actually diabolical.)

his nails are, also, kept trimmed and short. they're just slightly longer than the rest of the guys though, because it's helpful when he plays his silly little banjo.

his hands, like archie's are also a mosaic of scars. some of them are dumb though. he has a large scar across his right palm from when he was messing around with his sheffield knife and throwing it up in the air and catching it, and then ended up catching it by the blade. this was when he was 16. montana was pissed that he had to rush him to the town doctor.

I only recently finished reading (i think up to chapter 27? that's all i could find) but its SO GOOD! I love the artstyle (stunning absolutely stunning) and I love the characters and I love the worldbuilding so so much-

Yoshiki my beloved <3 I love how quietly but also very integral his queerness and the shame that comes with it is drawn into the story, like in the little moments where his eyes are drawn to hikaru before he averts them, its really nice. And also very integral to who he is. why does he think he's a monster? its not directly stated but We Know. Also yes his conflicting feelings when it comes to 'hikaru'!! It's so scrumptious just *cheffs kiss*

AND ALSO!! Fake hikaru I love him sm, I always enjoy characters who aren't necessarily malicious but still nonetheless their behavior doesn't ever really match up with what larger society does deem proper (cough cough), esp when the character himself is on an almost 'higher' plane of existence and just has a very different fundamental understanding off the universe. (even though he's not really necessarily a higher being!!) Like the way 'hikaru' doesn't really understand the difference between life and death, and operates based on his own wish to be able to stay with yoshiko as he slowly has a place carved out for him by yoshiki's side, but as he spends more time he starts to understand more ab why someone wouldn't want someone else to die (KIND OF like this OTHER character from after god, another manga (orokapi)). And as he learns of the consequences of him being there, especially in regard to how its reflected onto yoshiko, he decides to return to the mountain even though he desperately wants to stay where he has a place to be,,,,,,,,,,laskdgjlskgajgd :(( (like that one post calling him a fragile monster,,,,,like he really is isn't he </3)

and the moments between hikaru and yoshiki are so achingly tender!! I love how this author formats the pages and draws the scenes and expressions and movements sm, especially in ch 9 where yoshiko goes out to look for hikaru and finds his body, that entire sequence is just so stunningly illustrated and drawn you can feel the building panic and cold horror/dissociation once yoshiko finds the body- (I saw someone point out how 'hikaru''s shadow always doesn't have its head shown, indicating how he isn't really hikaru, which is such a fun detail) (and just the tenderness of how yoshiki cups the corpse's face as his mind runs and runs and runs and runs and runs-)

AND THE WAY 'HIKARU' ONLY COMES BACK BC HIKARU'S LAST WISH WAS FOR YOSHIKO TO NOT BE LONELY!!! LIKE DAMN!!!! DEVOTION AS A CURSE FR!!!

(it's kind of almost laughably silly how hikaru actually died bc he got distracted like dang :((( who planted that tree there??? /lh)

ASAKO!! I esp really really liked the chapter where she does confront 'hikaru' ab who he really is, that window into the grief of knowing your friend is truly dead and you weren't able to properly mourn for so long, and he's not really ever coming back again-

but also along the way that creeping, growing suspicion that something is wrong, because your intuition hasn't ever been wrong before when you can see these things-

and in general there friend group is absolutely adorable!! Including all the separate interactions the hair segment was so cute and relatable, my hair is so easy to take care of but i can't say the same for any of my friends lol

AND I LOVE THE ART SM!!!! JUST IT'S SO WHIMSICAL IN A WAY BUT LIKE SUFFOCATING? IDK it communicates the environment and mood SO WELL, and i love how the text/sound fx have been formatted on the page to convey an almost opressing, overbearing heat and weight of summer, and the character designs are all so lovely :0.

I really do love all the characters too, like they're written super nicely in a way that feels very, um idk how to describe it but 'real', like it doesn't feel as much that any single one was necessarily brought in solely for plot purposes even though that is the point of them, like their is at least a hint of deeper though processes for each. This does make their interactions so scrumptious tho :DD

It's an older one so I'm not thrilled with my writing but I'd love to come back and finish and clean it up 😭 it's just self indulgent fluff (with a wee bit of angst I mean it's me come on) about c!Foolish finding ways to get Bad to leave him alone (his method is kissing. really thought that one through didn't ya champ)

"And as Foolish yanks him back, he realizes several things all at once:

One, Bad is a lot closer than he realized.

Two, this whole ridiculous game of cat and mouse gets them absolutely nowhere and killing him would do absolutely nothing.

Three, everything Bad does is because he's desperate for Foolish's attention.

So Foolish decides to give it to him, all at once.

He pulls Bad closer, maybe too forcefully in retrospect, and angles his body so he's standing in front of him straight on. The hand not tangled up in Bad's clothing moves to his chin and tilts it up, just enough. In an instant, Foolish presses them together and distantly notes that Bad squeaks as their lips meet. Later, Foolish will hate how he so clearly noticed that Bad's lips are chapped.

The kiss itself is incredibly brief and hardly anything more than a peck, if that. Still, Foolish feels his cheeks heat unreasonably at the action. He draws back, hands still on Bad, before he really processes that he just kissed him.

Which, alright, in terms of spur of the moment decisions, not his best."

the egg one is obviously more angsty! I wrote it before the egg finale so it was just me spit balling about certain concepts. Bad getting mind controlled, Foolish's ptsd, the way those two are maybe the only two who will ever understand each other's trauma, Foolish's reluctant but ultimately very deep care and concern for Bad. Not sure I'll ever finish this one, but fun idea anyway.

"He also knows that it's wildly unfair to blame Bad for something an ageless, unknowable entity forced him to do. The logic always painfully knocks against Foolish whenever he feels himself getting irrationally angry at them for what happened but at the end of the day, Foolish will be the first to admit that they're just as much victims of the egg as he is.

Still, Foolish also knows that it's going to take a long, long time before he stops seeing Ant as his executioner and Bad as the monster who called for it.

This fresh hell certainly isn't doing my favors in that department. He squints against the light and tries to piece together what happened. Foolish had been- he'd been asleep. For what felt like the first time in months he'd actually gone to his beacon with a mountain of blankets and had decided to camp out there. He'd been scared and stretched thin, and even if the light never seemed to chase away the red in his nightmares, it at the very least left him feeling physically better.

So he had decided to sleep.

And then he woke up here.

He blinks, slowly, and tries to summon his own power and is met with nothing but the dull tingles more akin to static electricity than actual lightning.

Great. Perfect.

As he rolls over, he can't help but note the ceiling above him is one he's seen before, from this exact same spot even. Then he had been on his knees and there had been lava illuminating the walls. And, Foolish can't help but think as he strains against his bonds, he was probably better off.

"That's not going to work." Foolish flinches before he spots the voice, and hates himself as he relaxes at what he sees.

feel like a lot of my thoughts about not getting enough notes or whatever on a drawings can be dissolved by just accepting that art of the Game (its plot, events, etc) will pop off more than some self indulgent sketch. people will like things they can recognize, which i was aware of but i just thought that my art would reach the fandom people, yk the ones who are not just attached to the story but the characters too. so making recognizable art of the game wouldn't matter bc it would instead be of the characters

but the thing is, making Serious art of the game is tough. it's hard coming up with ideas, and who knows if the process is gonna be fun or extremely grueling. and on top of that, what hasn't been done so far? every idea has been drawn, been brought to life. the game is like 8 years old now. i kinda don't wanna draw more "Mountain. Blood. Snow. Ugly winter outfits" anymore lol. i mean sometimes i do bc i love the game obviously but when i wanna have fun, i'll tend to do other things that kinda combine with my own personal interests. so like fashion for example, i'll take the characters and dress them up. that's me having fun.

i want to think and Know that people understand this concept, but it feels like they don't? maybe they do. i know for a fact my mutuals do, because you are all very supportive of every silly josh doodle i make lol i appreciate it a lot 🤗 you guys are the kind of people i make this art for, the Character Likers. because i myself am someone who will attach to the characters more than like, the story. which isn't to say i just disregard the source material, that's not it at all, but for me regarding UD, imma be honest yall... i do not give a fuck abt the creature lore in the game at all. i don't care abt billy bates and whatnot. it's fine if you do, but me personally ehhh i don't care much abt that part of the story

i really like the characters out of all of this, i like certain dynamics, dialogue, etc. and i love the story too, and especially love when the story involves the characters (which i think the sanitarium segments doesn't really do? it kinda just gives insight on the 1950s mine incident and shjt) but i like the parts of the story relating to the twins. bc those are characters and they kinda haunt the narrative.

speaking of the narrative, it's part of the reason i like josh. he doesn't haunt the narrative but he controls it a lot id say. he's a very captivating character, very compelling. you want a lot out of him, like what's wrong, why is he doing this, why did he say that, blah blah. i honestly love characters that are attractive in this way, even to other characters in the story. so sam and chris for example. i enjoy the dynamic they have with josh because they're worried about him, they're thinking about him, or they want to know if he's okay, what's up with him and all that. he holds their attention like that, and ofc that led to ships and stuff. i feel like ashley's actress said it best when describing josh: "you think he's one way but then he's another"

which is honestly just so fucking true. you think he's dead, then he's not, you think he's okay but then he's not, you think he might live but he doesn't. he's even like that personality wise i'd say, but that's teetering onto like headcanon territory just somewhat. because sam does say "it's hard to tell with him" but that's mostly bc of the incident with the twins, she can't Tell if he's okay or barely hanging on. josh is hard to pin down, he's Complex, as stated in the game

sorry for getting into a little josh analysis there but since he is an important character (in general) to me, i kinda felt the need. because this also goes into my gripes about people not really getting why i draw him the way i do. j know i won't shut up about this, but i just Want everyone to know, bc i feel as though it was part of the reason why i wasn't really interacted with for as long as i've been a part of this fandom. like nobody really understood what i was doing, but it was really just simple fun. i mean, now i've completely given up hope with ever really Connectinf with the fandom, but i just want this off my chest honesrly lol

like i really don't want to keep drawing josh one way. like i said i wanna have fun so that's what i do. i can't really "make an him an oc" because i don't change anything about his story or writing. putting him in a silly outfit doesn't make him eligible for "original characterification" lol. so that's what i mean by i make a lot my art for the fandom people, the ones who like the game for more than its story, people who like making headcanons, people who like writing for the game, etc

and the reason i do it a lot is bc of what i said before. making art of the game is tough, it's a lot of thinking. what Hasn't been done already? not much lol. so i'll just keep sketching the silly stuff and sharing it with cool ppl who kinda get what i'm doing 👍

but i definitely will make art of the game and not just the characters, i'll make art more recognizable to the average player because guess what. that's also what i like. it just takes a long time for me because Serious art has a lot of thinking and planning behind it and is just very time consuming in general. but oh, josh in a skirt? took two minutes and i can just close my ipad and not worry about anything else lol

I've said this before on my previous blog but they're in a poly relationship with Robin and Sydney, annnd he's not fully corrupted Syd juuust yet but we're gettin there. She pegs Robin every night, fully clothed bc they don't like being nakey in front of ppl

Brynn the model:

He's well known around town, and for not the most pleasant reasons. Photos and videos of him posted online, showing off his bare body and his flushed face. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't phased by that, but it just means he'll be asked fewer questions if he acts like he's just dumb and horny and doesn't understand if you use big words when you speak.

Speaking of, he's very submissive. He's the definition of a good boy, say the word and he'll be on his knees for you!.......unless you're Whitney or Kylar. Funnily enough he's more likely to bottom for Kylar than he is for Whitney. He likes seeing the school bully flustered and shaking under him.

He'd like to get to know Nikki a bit better, not only because he's hot and stuff but also because every now and then he breaks his 'professional' persona to look at him with concern burning in his eyes, opening his mouth to ask something only to shut up and decide to continue with the photoshoot. Brynn just wants to know what the photographer's like when he's not speaking to a client, but with a friend.

Caelan the bartender:

They're really tall. Like. Reallyyyy tall. That paired with their resting bitch face usually scares off any people lookin to get frisky with them. But if you're yk. Not afraid and not pushy with your attempts at getting into their pants they're really good company. A little awkward but eventually they ease into the conversation and suddenly you both are just chuckling and sharing interesting experiences

They carry bandaids with them at all times. Two types, actually. The plain kind and some cute green ones with different white patterns on them. The second type is the type a certain other orphan finds pretty, a habit they picked up ever since they were kids. Even though they don't interact much with them these days, they still find themself slipping the pack into their pocket, like as if they're both seven again and Robin still has that misfortunate tendency to trip on air.

Their closet is kinda of....boring lmao. It's pretty classy, pretty cute but there's not much variety. Two waiter uniforms, shirts, vests, slacks. A sweater or two. Ties. That's it.

• Okay so it’s actually a long story for the first once but I’ll shorten it as much as possible !!!!

Her soul, along with hundreds of thousand others, are in a time loop that’s been placed over previously mentioned land by its host gods. These people and gods are heavily inspired off of Mayan/Aztec culture and Mythology.

It starts with war which lasts for centuries before a victor arrises and the winners live within the mountains, to be as close to their gods as possible. This is like their “Golden Age” where the biggest death rate is sacrifices because rituals taste better without the mud, sweat and tears of war.

To the gods this period is like dessert to them, after feasting on the blood of war. This cycle of death happens because like everything else, you need food to survive.

Izel, the last empress of every time loop, will inevitably take her sons warm heart into her hands. Every loop is the same, same people, events, despair, love, so on. One loop however, Izel had a ever so slightly strong conviction.

Skipping over the unfinished complicated part, Izel becomes a resident of the Clover Kingdom as a infant, living in a commoners home and barbershop.

• She met Rill at the age 14, he was 15 and a brand new Magic Knight.

Her entire life she always felt a little empty. This being filled with the discovery of magic archaeology and solving unsolvable puzzles, mysteries, magic items. Izzy is highly intelligent and crafty, but also morally grey.

She steeps herself in the Black Market. Doing dirty work for thieves that aren’t intelligent. Izzy is fully aware she’s being used but is she really, as long as she’s enjoying it?

One thing leads to another and she’s got herself in a government list. They send some magic knights over to arrest her, how hard could it be, she doesn’t even have a grimoire! It turns out when you spend a while dodging knights and the general public you become very good at… (reads notes) Parkour.

This is when she meets Rill! He’s the first to ever catch up to her, which piques her interest of him. But in the end he is still a Magic Knight, coming to ruin her fun.

This goes on for. A full year. Izzy has a grimoire now! Rill, while still doing his job, he mainly goes after her to see her, since he finds her highly fascinating. They chat while the two of them run along, playing tag.

Eventually Rill is met with an ultimatum, if he doesn’t take care of her (her crimes have skyrocketed over time and with her having a grimoire) they’ll send their top Magic Knights after her and take his Grey Deer robe.

One thing leads to another. Izzy isn’t upset with Rill because he’s only doing his job, she just tells him she’ll break out of jail, no big deal, haha! This doesn’t help Rill feel less guilty.

An experienced Grey Deer by the name Matilda of Cloth Magic proposes that Izzy become a Magic Knight so her talents are not wasted. Izzy refuses. She is not a rule type. Sure, the status could give her free access to explore dungeons and Forbidden Books, but what conditions would she have to agree to? Maybe it would be easier to break in…

Without warning Matilda states to Izzy and her fellow Magic Knights she would love to be a Knight. The illusion of free choice.

And with that she begrudgingly became a Grey Deer that did nothing the Captain told her, unless it was a dungeon mission. The Captain caught on and only assigned her jobs that would suit her fancy; knowing otherwise she would be useless.

Then she became an Aqua Deer. Izzy doesn’t wear her robe because she chooses not to! Julius takes a fancy to her and she becomes co head of the department that deals with dungeons and so on.

Despite being morally grey, shes not a fighter. She just doesn’t care enough. But she could break someone’s nose, if needed. She rarely uses her Grimoires magic, depending on her own physical skill to get around. Being a dungeon dweller makes you extremely fit.

Her magic is hyper compressed Storm Magic. Only using is for tool creation and physical enhancement magic. Izzy’s magic in its raw form makes her uneasy. It’s reminding her of something tragic she doesn’t have a memory of…

Her Storm Magic isn’t control over lightning or rain, it’s the control over the atmosphere, temperature and moisture. It’s like having to dance with a wild beast.

Okay I started rambling. I’m sorry. I’m not even done yet.

• I think they have a big and little sister relationship! Izzy was always the big sister growing up so she heavy enjoys Charlottes warm company. Charlotte would actually love to have Izzy in her squad but Izzy refuses. Izzy loves Charlotte though, and deeply admires her, she wants to know everything about her and her curse.

• She actually has been to the Heart Kingdom before the cast did! For entertainment purposes only hahaha. She and Gaja has similar attributes but they don’t mix well!!! Haha, Gaja is weary of her because she just stares at him with her big ol’ eyes. This goes for all the spirit guardians though. And asking them a ridiculous amount of questions and poking around where she shouldn’t. Sarado has to be here favorite. She also has a small girl crush on Lolo hee hee.

7. a medium of art you don’t work with but appreciate?

OIL PAINTS.. omg they’re such a beautiful and satisfying medium to work in and the final results are alwaysss so gorgeous. also the fact that you have to have a dedicated studio to work with them in bc of the dangers on the fumes… alsooo i have a massive appreciation for traditional painting in general cause tbhh.. i couldnt imagine having to think soo deeply about adding like. a subtle vignette around the painting to draw the eye in DURING the actual whole process of the painting…. i try to position things to draw the eye in but i always put a vignette around my pieces AFTER i’m done to rlly solidify it…. to just naturally incorporate that in 🙇‍♂️🙇‍♂️ ur amazing

ALSO ALSOOOOO OMG SPRAY PAINTING/TAGGING i’ve always wanted to do it since i was a kiddd but i never have… graffiti/tags/wall art are some of my absolute favourite pieces to see and i have mad mad appreciation for the lot of them. there’s some really good ones in my city (commissioned and not) and i think specifically when they’re not commissioned they’re an amazing form of self expression and/or public awareness :p

10. favourite piece of clothing to draw?

hmm this ones kinda tricky because i think i rlly just enjoy drawing how the whole fit works together buttt… i think for sketching i have the most fun with chains, and for actual finished drawings prolly oversized shirts/sweaters. i really enjoy how folds work on oversized clothes. probably good that i enjoy that since i imagine naruto mostly wears oversized shirts ehehhehe. an ‘in theory’ contender is shoes bc i rlly enjoy drawing bulky shoes BUT i feel i struggle too often with them for it to be a fave. which means i just have to practice more hehe.

19. favourite inanimate objects to draw?

i really really enjoy sketching trees although finishing them aren’t quite as fun for me (although i do still enjoy it quite a bit)… i really enjoy drawing skies for sure… and sketching faraway mountains! overall though i do think trees would be my favourite… even though they’re sometimes a pain. specifically i tend to enjoy deciduous trees over evergreens :p

-i gotta say i dont think having someone hold shit up for as long as they can is good training. Moving around just a bit every so often will probably keep the muscles from overstraining or something. I dunno exercise but like letting them occasionally move prob would produce a longer and more rewarding exercise.

-shinobus spikes do not feel like they have enough depth for the rest of his hair

-summary: i forgot eight was introduced this early on, and while he isnt my least favorite of the shogun steel cast, i can definitely see where he fails where the other child characters succeeded. Maru and zyro being siblings continues to be the highlight for me and i am getting emotionally attached. I need hijinks, i need zyro helping maru, i need maru to draw on his face when he sleeps and to explode his microwave for science.

Some folks in the notes seem stressed out by the sheer quantity but of note it usually feels hard to keep track of bc it’s just a list of titles here but really it boils down to the parts of the word that you’d need to keep track of and everything else follows the same format. I’ve also commented to many individuals that learning Chinese is less about the words and more about the concept from which everything follows:

On [shi]:

In cases of shifu, shidi, shijie, etc, it draws from combining the words for teacher (師）and the familial term for a person’s age relative to the person your referring to (older girl=jie/姐；younger boy=di/弟）and so on and so forth. With 師in front, all of the familial titles immediately are under the martial category. Conceptually, this is because this new “family” exists under the tutelage of a martial art/skillset or men/門 (lit. door) under the guidance of a teacher (shifu/師傅).

On [xian]:

The closest common translation for this is immortal or celestial as that is the general understanding of this group of people. For the closest western equivalent…. Mmmm, maybe fae? Whatever, anyway. So like the above examples, attaching what seems like a xian/仙 prefix like in xianjun (仙君）would denote “man of noble character who is a celestial being”. (Fun fact: the radical on the left for xian is that of a person and the part on the right is a mountain. So pictorially, it’s literally a character representation of a person who lives in the mountains, a common home for xianren).

On zhe/者:

It pretty much functions like -er in English. Liulang (流浪)=wander. Liulangzhe (流浪者)=wanderer

On lao/老：

Literally it means old. But because there is also cultural things like ancestor worship. It can also double to refer to position and level of respect such a person would garner. (Remember teacher? Or laoshi / 老師？)

On gendered terms:

Have fun and good luck (nah jk jk). But seriously, this would be the bulk of things you need to remember. But this is all I can fit in one break before getting back to my tasks. Hope it helps! <3

It has nothing to do with sect so the definition above would actually be wrong in this case. It means generation. Culturally, age is important when you consider ancestor worship.

Ping[平]=flat/equal

It’s a reference to age/rank and is still applied in the workplace or school. I can refer to the senior members of my household zhangbei/長輩 and if, say, I had a person who graduated before me in my field, they are my qianbei/前輩. If I had a sibling or my mother’s sister had a child, the 3 of us would be pingbei/平輩 and I would use the same word to refer to my classmates.

Terms You Might Want To Know For Your Wuxia/Xianxia Fic

MXTX's danmei are getting increasingly popular, and the fandoms are getting more fic-happy. I've noticed that some writers seem interested in writing their own fics but are concerned of making mistakes with niche honorifics and titles. I've noticed some that have jumped right in, but have made innocent errors that I'd like to correct but fear coming off as rude or presumptuous. And so I've made this list of terms that covers the basics and also some that are a little more niche since they're usually directly translated in cnovels.

DISCLAIMER: This is by no means a comprehensive list of everything one needs to know or would want to know concerning ancient Chinese honorifics and titles, merely what I myself consider useful to keep in mind.

Titles

Shifu: 'Martial father'; gender-neutral

Shizun: 'Martial father'; more formal than 'shifu'; gender-neutral

Shimu: ‘Martial mother’; wife of your martial teacher

Shiniang: ‘Martial mother’; wife of your martial teacher who is also a martial teacher

Shibo: elder apprentice-brother of your shifu; gender-neutral

Shishu: younger apprentice-brother of your shifu; gender-neutral

Shigu: apprentice-sister of your shifu

Shizhi: your martial nephew/niece

Shimei: younger female apprentice of the same generation as you

Xiuzhe: 'Cultivator', can be shortened to 'Xiu'

Xianjun: 'Immortal Master/Lord'

Xianshi: 'Immortal Master/Teacher'

Dashi: 'Great Teacher', address for monks

Xiansheng: Teacher/Sir; in ancient China, the connotation is very scholastic

Houye: address for a duke

Jueye: address for a noble lord, ei. a duke, marquess, earl, etc.

Wangye: address for king/imperial prince

Daren: address for imperial officials

Furen: Madam; the wife of an imperial official/nobleman OR a married woman granted a rank by the royal family

Nushi: Madam; the counterpart of 'xiansheng', connotation is scholastic

Taitai: Madam; address for an old married woman of the gentry, either wife or mother to head of household

Laoye: Old Lord; Address for an adult man with adult children of the gentry; possibly head of household

Nainai: Madam; Address for a married woman of the gentry, possibly wife of head of household

Ye: Lord; address for an adult man of the gentry, possibly head of household

Shaonainai: Young Madam; address for a woman married to a young man of the gentry

Shaoye: Young Lord; address for a young man or boy of the gentry, generation lower than head of household

Xiaoye: Little Lord; can be a synonym for ‘shaoye’ OR the son of a shaoye if ‘shaoye’ is already being used within the family

Xiaojie: Young Mistress; address for an unmarried woman or young girl of . . . the gentry and only the gentry, I believe. Correct me if you know for certain this is incorrect. (WARNING - It's an archaic term that should really only be used in an archaic setting if being used as a title instead of a suffix, because the modern vernacular has it as a term for a prostitute in mainland China. [Surname]-xiaojie is fine; Xiaojie by itself should be avoided.)

Gongzi: ‘Young Master/Lord/Sir'; ‘Childe’; young man from a household of the noble or gentry class

Guniang: 'Young Master/Lady/Miss'; ‘Maiden’; an unmarried woman or young girl from a household of the noble or gentry class

Laozhang: 'Old battle'; polite address for an unrelated old man of lower status than you

Laobo: polite address for an unrelated old man of a higher status that you

Laotou: 'Old man'; informal but not derogatory, implies fondness/closeness

Laopopo: 'Old woman'; informal but not derogatory, implies fondness/closeness

Please note that all of these listed above can be used as stand-alone titles or as suffixed honorifics.

Strictly Prefix/Suffix

-shi: 'Clan'; the suffix for a married woman, essentially means 'née'. (ex. Say Wei Wuxian was a woman and married into the Lan clan through a standard marriage. She would be called 'Wei-shi' by her husband's contemporaries and elders when not in a formal setting. It implies lack of closeness; used by acquaintances.)

a-: A prefix that shows affection or intimacy.

-er: A suffix that shows affection or intimacy; typically for children or those younger than you

-jun: 'Nobleman'; a suffix for a greatly respected man

-zun: 'Revered One'; a suffix for a greatly respected man

-ji: A suffix for a female friend

-bo: A suffix for an older man of your grandparents' generation

-po: A suffix for an older woman of your grandparents' generation
