this movie. oh my god. that was LIFECHANGING. i love how the story of wicked itself is just how to treat others the way u wanna be treated okay like its not that hard i fear...my mum said that she liked this movie mostly because of the indirect reference to how real life is with black women and girls who had to deal with what elphaba went thru and how just your skin colour can change everyone's perspective on you and my mum was so true for that 😕

but anyway, aside from that, that movie was LESBIAN. Yknow sometimes I think about how Ozma was visibly horrified by the task Light gave him, so horrified he collapsed. The only reason he came back was for Salem and when they split he defaulted to the task, purely bc I think he felt like he had no other purpose. Granted he worked towards it when he was with her, but definitely more as a "Screw it, I'm here, may as well try" and he was questioning it.

Like. Oz has such a complicated relationship with the task. He's obviously given up on it, and likely hates it, but in the beginning I think he probably wanted to believe it Might be good. But then he gave up on it when he found out Salem can't he destroyed (which was likely a last resort option for him), and later came to the conclusion that the task doesn't matter at ALL. The Gods don't matter. Remnant doesn't need fixing because it was never broken, and to him, this is his freedom.

Honestly, I really wonder what Ozma was gonna say in response to "We could've had freedom." Was he gonna say "I thought we already were"? Or maybe a simpler "I'm sorry"? Gnawing at the bars of my enclosure. Salem sees Remnant as it is as a cage with the gate closed. Ozpin sees that the gate is open. They have such opposing views on freedom,,

one of the very first things we learn about ozma is that he had been ready to give his life for justice countless times before he met salem, finding someone worth saving it for. like, he was a legendary warrior and he was alone, and for that reason i think his reincarnation is the key to his character, bc what if light had just made him immortal or anything like that that didn't ensure he was never alone? after the fight with salem, he would not have had any connection to the world—"that world just isn't as dear to me without her." is what he said when he first refused the task—so in his darkest moments, when he saw no point in any of it, i think the chances of ozma bringing the relics together just to end it would have been much, much higher than they ever were due to reincarnating, because then he wasn't alone, and each of his hosts had some kind of connection to remnant as it was.

there's also, like. yeah, he kinda worked towards the task with salem, but once salem went "let's kill the non-believers", it ended right there. that's not what the god of light asked of him; humanity was meant to live in harmony and set aside their differences, not fight amongst themselves. and while the general angle with the whole judgment deal is yikes, asking for peace isn't like. horrible thing to ask for lol of course ozma would be like "yeah, that sounds great!"—it's the "...or everyone dies" that's the problem; there's no second chances, he has to get it right the first time, and that's terrifying.

what that also meant for ozma is that once the split happened, him and salem were opposite forces; she wouldn't accept the gods return and thus would work to prevent it from happening, so in ozma's mind he needs to destroy salem to have any chance in favorable outcome. . . and then jinn tells him "lol nope" and that's that.

what else can he do? he's gone through two attempts at his task and both ended poorly; one went into a direction he wasn't comfortable with—he was a legendary hero who fought only for righteousness, this was never going to go well with him—and with the other he didn't even get properly started before it ended.

he found himself in a dead end, but over the years he's found peace in other things; the world is fine as it is. humanity does not need to be made whole again. ozpin made a collection of fairy tales that included stories like a man getting into a staring contest with the sun (and wins, but at the cost of becoming blind) and one of humans breaking the sun with their demands only to make a new sun, the old one becoming the moon, even going as far in his notes as to make it evidently clear the sun is a celestial gift from the god of light.

like. there isn't even need to read between the lines, oz has made it abundantly clear that he believes in this world's and it's peoples' right to exist as they are.

as for what he was going to say, i'm definitely leaning towards "i'm sorry" simply bc i like the idea that in that moment, ozma. . . he had been warned by light that he would not find comfort but only pain, but he didn't let that stop him. he still went to salem, but that's what's on his mind, and he's sorry, because it didn't have to end this way.

The older I get, the more I see I don’t think I ever really liked it in the first place, I just liked its potential- 🫣

I was always an ever after high girlie. Always. But a crush when I was in highschool was like obsessed with Mal. She dyed her hair purple and I dyed my hair pink, and she used to braid my hair in a fancy fish braid to look like Mal from cotillion. I think I got into descendants so me and her had something to talk about 😅 But one day I was at Walmart flipping through a Wicked World graphic novel and just fell in love with Audrey immediately. I’m a Briar and Cupid girlie, so Audrey kinda reminded me of bits and pieces of them, so bubbly and sassy and pink. I remember thinking Audrey was so cute and getting the Junior Novelization of the first movie from my public library. Sooo yeah I got into descendants to get the girl, but I stayed bc of Princess Audrey Rose, Queen of Mean <3

And let me tell you: on paper? Just from actions alone? Audrey is so endearing, she’s a little bratty and she sounded awkward when she first met, but you could clearly see how much she cared about Ben, how scared she and her family were by Maleficent, and how much she wanted to be the perfect daughter for her family’s name. Jane actually came across as the nasty one ngl.

but, reading the book aside, I started looking at some descendants fandom stuff and was like wow you all really hate Audrey?? So I watched the movie and yeah they would play intimidating background music when she was around and use this camera angle that kinda panned up to her and the VK’s standing below so they literally just framed her as a villain cinematically? And I think that’s the neat thing about reading a Junior novelization first; you really see a character in an objective light and not how the story is framing them to be.

I got over my crush quickly bc she had this habit of being mean to me when she was depressed and when she was feeling better she would randomly start being nice to me again? I also once told her how I felt and in the moment she was very kind and even gave me a hug and said she felt honoured but it just wasn’t how she felt bc she only saw me as a friend, valid. And then one day she switched it up and started making fun of me and said that I got rejected? Not valid! “The worst she can say is no” yeah no. Now get this: one day I went out with one of my friends (who later became my highschool gf), and that girl suddenly asked me out after, saying she changed her mind? Big no from me that time. my life was more of a toxic yuri adventure than Descendants ever was LMAO.

But I did truly love Audrey. Eah > descendants forever (partially bc eah has 2 canon lesbians and 2 canon bisexuals whereas descendants just has pan mal all by herself) but Audrey was a fave of mine for a bit. I learnt Queen of Mean on the piano and I used to sing and play it in my living room and my Dad would nod his head and tap his foot to it :)

I think I was for descendants for its potential more than the content itself. I love Disney villains so so much, and started collecting descendants stuff to put with my villains collection (a Maleficent doll, an Evil Queen doll, a Cruella doll, an Ursula doll, a ‘Disney villain evil scent candle’ that just smells like berries, and a Disney villain classic guide). But then I found out that ever after high was going to get a season 6 about the Wizard of Oz AND a crossover with monster high but it got cancelled bc descendants plagiarized it and then became more popular??? I was fuming. And then Rise of Red came out and just- it went from being “oh tehe children of villains” to “okay so wonderland is closed off and also all of the fairy tale characters went to high school together 😃” I was like HUH??? I mean yeah they had copied ever after high but it was never that obvious and blatant til now. Also: why make more movies after Cameron died? We should honour his memory. The third movie literally concluded everything. So now I have a bunch of descendants books I bought in highschool I put with my Disney villain stuff, and I just hate descendants now so wtf am I supposed to do with it? I have a Facebook marketplace account but it’s not taking off :(

to this day I still adore the fanart, and actually had bought some Mal and Audrey comissions a couple years ago that I treasure! The characters in descendants are so pretty, I love the bright colours. I got my comissions of Mal dressed up as Elsa bc I had to see it, and Audrey dressed up as her father Prince Phillip, sword and shield and all! I’m so happy with those commissions! So many ppl in the fandom are so creative and made these designs look even better. I’ll always love fanart whether I like the franchise itself or not lol.

I’m going to see Wicked in the theatre at a friend’s birthday party coming up and I feel like it’ll be my new descendants; a fun, villainous, musical story. I can see myself making moodboards and buying merch and that’ll fill that Rotten To The Core Fairytale Villains hole in my heart LMAO. Also: Glinda is gonna be my new Audrey I can see it already.

I can’t really say I did like any of the writing- Like at all :0 But I LOVE fairytale villains, so that was a cool franchise idea, and I can appreciate the attempt with the found family trope between the core four. And also Audrey (my baby <3), Evie, and Uma are icons :3 The first two movies are okay but the third movie is awful 💀 and I have never seen royal wedding or rise of red and we’re keeping it that way lmao

Matt (31) and him are very close, but because Matt was pretty regularly the stand-in-parent it's hard for Liam to completely relax and get up to Dumb Kid Shit with Matt; don't get me wrong he would follow Matthieu into a burning building if told to. But that's different from being able to just Be around him? Y'know?

Is Hexfinder supposed to be a new adversary especially for Wanda or do they have bigger plans? I ask bc I feel like I read something about her being a part of GODS or something and like, assumed she was just getting introduced in SW, not meant to be Wanda’s Joker or whatever. I saw some complaints about “random new characters” being used to “fill out a rogues gallery” for Wanda and thought that was strange bc I don’t get that vibe at all. It’s mostly existing smaller villains (scythia) or like, clearly one off conflicts (oz misadventure), except Hexfinder

It’s okay if you don’t know I just thought if anyone would it’d be the SW stan who is also planning to follow gods so it couldn’t hurt to ask

I don’t think she has anything to do with G.O.D.S., which is weird bc you’d think that an alchemist who hunts witches would be very into a “war between science and magic.” But as far as I’m aware, she’s just a Scarlet Witch villain— for now.

Hexfinder’s first appearance was in SW #7, which also included a one-page tie-in story for G.O.D.S. They did a bunch of issues like that over the summer to promote the event, but the early previews were kind of unclear about whether or not the whole issues would be tied in as well. They weren’t— it was just the single page— but Hexfinder’s debut was also being heavily publicized at the same time and it kinda made it seem like the two things were connected.

I’ve also seen those complaints, but I find that the most vocal critics of Scarlet Witch, especially on Twitter, are primarily M C U fans and the specific type of X-Men readers who lack media literacy and just want everything to be about feats of power and cataclysmic events, particularly for characters like Wanda or Jean. Don’t listen to those people— the superhero genre would be much worse if they got their way all the time.

My theory right now is that Hexfinder’s story will carry over to the relaunch of Scarlet Witch next year. We still don’t know what that series is about, but it sounds like it will have a slightly broader scope, so I think there’s potential for her to be more than just a one-off villain. But, yeah, I think she’s meant to be specific to Wanda’s story.

but since i kept their first meeting as the one that happened in Retrace 37-41, I changed the scene to whatever happens in the fic. i do wanna write a short fic solely on the tavern premise some day lol

he's. he's a little bastard man there's no better way to describe him. his soul is separate from his body so he can revive any time he dies but he still feels the pain of dying, and ig when he was younger he was like... trapped? somewhere? and he like constantly died and was revived a ton for like A Very Long Time (most characters in the game are like. 1000+ years old) so he's got Some Shit Going On. he was like. accidentally? freed? and then just kinda fucked off somewhere for awhile. he's very like... he doesn't say what he means ever and is just very very like... harsh? bc he just assumes everyone will hate him by default so he wants to make it easier for them to. but he's polite abt it which is so fucking funny like my guy wtf. but yeah he's v manipulative and likes seeing people suffer. and also feeds off of negative emotions which literally replenish his mana like. owen why are you like this.

but yeah he's a stinky bastard man and actively likes to cause problems on purpose. but also he really likes sweets and desserts and can talk to animals so he's like not all bad.

also as a result of some kind of calamity thing idk a lot of the older wizards have some sort of like. injury? like cain can't see anyone unless he touches them first (except owen. i'll get to that.), oz falls asleep when he does magic, murr's soul was fragmented which made his entire personality change and become pretty much dependent on shylock, bradley teleports when he sneezes, stuff like that. and owen's is that his personality will like. randomly swap back to when he was a child (at least that's the most common speculation) and he's super attached to cain in that state its kinda funny bc cain has no fuckin idea what to do with him.

also at one point owen swapped one of his eyes for one of cain's so both of them have one red (owen's eye color) and one golden (cain's) eye. cain vowed he'd get his other eye back from owen someday but also does not give a shit and has barely done anything towards it its kinda funny. and in fact actually kinda bonds with owen as the story goes on i guess. bc owen's just a fucked up little guy. and that's why cain can see owen all the time. bc he has one of his eyes. lmao.

oh also this is cain. he's a knight guy. silly dude. he usually hides his red eye under his hair but i specifically picked a cg where you can see it <3 get fucked cain

ZOEY CHAMBERS (Henrietta) is humbled beyond words to be a part of this groundbreaking production. Zoey has been enchanting audiences for years with her portrayal of badass girl-bosses like Sandy from Grease and Fantine from Les Miserables. Zoey would like to thank her brother, Zack, for giving her the acting bug all the way back in the third grade! It’s ironic that Zack thought he was the actor of the family but Zoey would go on to completely overshadow him in every way. Sucks to suck, doesn’t it, Zachary? Zoey would also like to thank her roommate and fellow cast member Hailey! Hailey is perfectly cast in her very small and inconsequential part. The role of Marge is just so uninteresting and one dimensional that it helps mask Hailey’s limited range as an actress, as well as other flaws, such as not being pretty enough to pull off an ingenue. RUTH FLEMING (Secretary #4) is so fucking stoked for her acting debut! This is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, I mean, her. Ruth ran the lights for her school’s shitty production of The Barbeque Monologues and was also the Assistant Stage Manager for The Wizard of Oz…it sucked. She got bullied and excluded by the whole cast even though her job was just as important as theirs. More important actually! Being in the cast is way better. You don’t even have to think of an excuse to barge into the dressing rooms you can just walk right in! Everybody takes off their shirts and lets their titties tumble free! It’s the most awesome thing I’ve ever seen…I mean she’s ever seen. Anyways, Ruth doesn’t want to thank anybody because nobody did anything for her.

CASSANDRA KING (Eve) is elated to be present with you fellow vessels in these fleeting moments. Everything has transpired exactly as the lights in the sky foretold. i do sing. i haven't posted any covers on this acc yet (i posted some on my prev acc back in the day & i sometimes post small ones on my priv twt), but my singing is actually one of the few things im confident in. or, i was, the depression ive been in the last few years has made it difficult to keep up so my voice is rusty now, but i do still really like singing when im able to,, ive been told many times i should pursue it, and ive thought about it, but. ive had people like. demand me to sing stuff for them before, and the thought of being seen as a showpony by a lot of ppl stresses me out. i have tried to start cover channels numerous times, though

ive tried to write music before, actually. ive only ever ""finished"" one song and it was an instrumental made in a very basic program. i would love to make music even if i didn't post it anywhere. it's difficult for me to write full songs, but i have numerous poems i could just do little songs w ig. piano is my favorite instrument, so i'd probably mostly have soft, very emotional piano songs. also a lot of those crystally sounding instruments, maybe some strings since violin is my second favorite instrument.. and then some random occasional angry rock ballads.

AAA, this analysis is excellent! When you put it this way Jacobi!Master being the Wizard of Oz makes infinitely more sense than my sound logic of "must be Roberts bc campy robes". Kinda nice to think the Master is not shy about his last face :3

I always interepreted the Wizard's gifts as more of an expression of how the Scarecrow, Tinman and Lion always had what they wanted, Scarecrow being pretty clever without a lump of neurons, Tinman having deep feelings without a muscle pump and Lion having courage precisely because he's afraid but able to overcome his fears, and if they want nice trinkets in recognition of their qualities, then here you go, but let's just say I can see the Master not seeing it quite this way... And yes, if you look at it this way, War!Master keeping up the appareances that he's totally going to whisk everyone away to safety rings excellent, for all the the Doctor tries to pull the empty hope is better than none attitude.

But argh, you brought up one of those things that keep nagging at me, that is the Master taking out some kind of data storage while scoffing "Utopia"... Like, one interpretation is that there is in fact a land of diamons skies and happiness, but I think it's more in line with the general cultural meaning of Utopia and Toclafane's dystopian fate to believe the humans on the rocket kept their course and the Master taking the coordinates was an explanation of how he was able to override the lock and travel to Utopia itself... Just needed to vent the thought out.

Anyway, thanks for the excellent meta and putting the image of David Tennant in ruby slippers in my brain!

PS, re Jack: yeah, I kinda agree he's not very thematically fitting, but I think the main idea was to bring in a way for the Doctor and Martha to go back to 2007, and instead of playing it off as an ex machina they gave Jack an actual purpose and arc.

THE BUMBLING FOOL - an essay/rant

(contains spoilers for The Wizard of Oz and Doctor Who episodes “Utopia”(s3/ep11) and “Sound of the drums” (s3/ep12))

To begin, I present to you some context…. So, recently I saw a post by @monica00 who posted an excerpt from the Master’s diary. The “MASTER OF ALL I SURVEY” is composed of several diary entries written by Simm!Master. In one of them, Day 42, he mentions carving the faces of several of his regenerations (Delgado, Ainley, himself and the “Wizard of Oz”) into Mount Rushmore. This led me to ponder who he’s referring to when talking about the wizard of Oz.

So, after thinking a bit, I finally figured out that he was talking about the Master as portrayed by Sir Derek Jacobi / the War Master. And that led me to composing this handy (and probably not that well written) list? Analysis? Essay? About the parallels between the character of “The Wizard of Oz” and Professor Yana/the Master.

Note: My information on the wizard of Oz is partly taken from deep crevices of my brain and the “Wizard of Oz” wiki, so I might be mixing up several portrayals of the character. Also, this is my personal interpretation, so yeah…

This rant is dedicated to my current Doctor Who obsession and of course to @roxannepolice, my motivation for writing/ actually publishing this. Many thanks to you for feeding my thoschei obsession with your content and (ask game answers) and exsisting.

After Dorothy arrives in Oz via hurricane, she desperately “wishes” to get back home to Kansas. The Good Witch informs her about the approaching threat of the Wicked Witch (who is going to chase her down and try to kill her because she crushed her sister, the wicked witch of the east, with her house and stole her magical shoes. Which are all pretty valid arguments If you ask me.). Glinda says that in order to go home she should ask the “Wonderful Wizard of Oz” for help. Dorothy (having just killed someone) and her dog, Toto, go on their merry way, following the yellow brick road to the Emerald City.

On the way there she meets several other characters who also have a deep wish they want fulfilled by the wizard. There is the Scarecrow who wants to have a brain, a tin man who wants a heart and a Lion who wants courage.

After some tribulations they are finally able to have an audience with the Wizard, who appears as a giant floating head – in return for fulfilling their wishes the Wizard demands the Wicked Witch`s broomstick. (Character who appears as a giant floating head - Just like, oh, I don’t know a certain other character played by Derek Jacobi, cough cough the Metatron, cough, cough)

They defeat the Wicked Witch and return with the broomstick; he tells them to come back tomorrow – but Toto pulls back a curtain and the group discover that “The Great and Powerful Wizard” is just a guy operating a projector machine. He is projecting an image of himself, the image of a giant powerful magician capable of doing almost anything. When confronted with the fact that he is a humbug, he admits that he is but says that he’s – still a good man at heart. Although he promised to grant their wishes, he merely gives them “tokens” of the things they actually wanted. For example, a heart shaped clock for the metal man and a diploma for the Scarecrow.

The wizard finally decides to go home to Kansas, the same way he got there - in a hot-air balloon. He also offers to take Dorothy with him, fulfilling her wish. This ultimately doesn’t work as Toto runs off and Dorothy goes after him. Just before departing he makes Dorothy’s companions the rulers of Oz – effectively dumping all responsibility on them. In the end Dorothy manages to get back home with her magical shoes. However (depending on the version) Dorothy has fulfilled her wish on her own, none of her other friends have actually gotten their wish granted.

------------------------------------------------------------------------ Let’s take a look at the parallels between Yana and Oz.

“Utopia”, is the only episode Yana and Jacobi!Master appear in, it takes place on a desolate planet called Malcassario at “the end of the universe”, a time not even the timelords have reached.

Ten, Martha and Captain Jack (don’t ask me why he’s here just roll with it) go to explore and find nest-like structures carved into stone. Remnants of a civilisation that used to live here long ago. They get wrapped up in a hunt, a (human) man is being chased by the Futurekind, a tribe of savage hunters with sharp teeth. They join him in running to the only safe place around – a silo. Later a guard confirms that this is the place to go if you want to go to Utopia – the ultimate salvation from the end of the universe and the infinite darkness that surrounds them.

They later find out that a scatterbrained scientist called Professor Yana (and in extension his malmoothian assistant, Chantho) are supposed to make the rocket that’s supposed to take them to Utopia (a call which “came from across the stars over and over again. Come to Utopia.”), fly. The thing is, they have no clue how to do that – not that they are not scientists – but they do not have enough energy to lift off.

The surviving humans yearn “to preserve [themselves], to find a way of surviving beyond the collapse of reality itself.” They have come so far, survived all these great hardships, lost their friends, family, lives, everything. They presumably see Yana as a saviour, the one who will lead them to Utopia “where the sky is made of diamonds”. Yana is even willing to sacrifice himself for them, staying behind as the rocket takes off.

Every single human left in existence is relying on them to survive. They all want something from him. He is their own personal version of “The Great and Powerful Wizard of Oz”, able to grant their deepest wishes/ they are projecting their wishes and hopes on him. They aren’t scared that the myth of Utopia isn’t true but they fear that they won’t survive long enough to reach it.

(As I’m writing this I kind of realize that the Doctor (or the Master) can relate to all these humans, just like them they have lost everything, their home plane and their friend. But the doctor still hasn’t given up hope he’s still running away, desperately clinging to any human who wants to travel with him and secretly wishing that the last words of the Face of Boe “Know this, timelord. You Are Not Alone.”, are true.)

There are also some parallels between Martha and Chantho. In a private conversation while the doctor helps Yana power the rocket, Chantho reveals that she has known the Professor for a long time and that she adores him but does not think he notices. This kind of parallels Martha’s relationship with the doctor, she’s also in love with him but knows that this love will never be reciprocated, she’s not even sure if he’s noticed it. But, ultimately the loyal Chantho gets electrocuted by the Master after he has recovered his memories – blaming her for not noticing or asking about the watch (which contains his true identity) sooner. She falls to the floor – seemingly dead – but manages to shoot him in her last breath.

Her wish for love has not been fulfilled.

Let’s get back to the humans for a second: as soon as the Master becomes himself again, he lowers the protective measures against the Futurekind, locks the Doctor and Jack in the control room and removes a circuit board from the navigational system to Utopia. The rocket’s flight path is interrupted in the fate of the humans is left unclear. (At least until Sound of the Drums but isn’t the toclafane’s existence, bound to a singular metal dome a never-ending thirst for blood ingrained deep within you, a fate worse than death? Are they even human?)

The Doctor’s next, we will ignore Jack because he doesn’t really fit into the grand scheme and he’s literally just forcing himself into the plot.

Throughout the whole of new who up to this point it has been established that the Doctor is completely and utterly alone in the universe. In the episode “New Earth” (s2/ep1) a Novice teases the last words of the Face of Boe which will only be given to someone like him “a wanderer. To the man without a home. The lonely God.” In Gridlock (s3/ep3) he tells Martha about the time war, “There was a war. A Time War. The last great Time War. [..] They lost. Everyone lost. They’re all gone now, my family, my friends, even that sky.”.

Like I already mentioned, The Doctor is constantly craving companionship – he has throughout all his lives, especially in the new series he wants to alleviate the pain of the time war, the crippling loneliness that claws at him every second of every day, no matter how much he tries to escape it.

When Yana hears of a scientist, “a doctor of everything”, he is immediately overjoyed, he rushes to greet the doctor and whisks him away to his laboratory. He quickly introduces him to all his equipment but despite the doctor’s massive intellect, he can’t even think of any solution. Yana is obviously sad but apologizes, saying that there’s been “so little help”. To me this immediate joy and desire to meet the doctor is also partly the masters. He feels lonely as well – as reflected by Yana’s own feelings - “Never could keep time. Always late, always lost. [��] Time and time and time again. Always running out on me. […] Oh, it's only an old relic. Like me.” Yana desires rest – eventually his own wish gets fulfilled, just like Oz escaping from Oz and going back to Kansas.

Generally, the Chameleon Arch creates a personification of some aspects of the user`s personality, for the Doctor his “worse traits” get amplified, for the Master his “better traits” are amplified, he’s willing to sacrifice himself just to save someone he doesn’t know and is kind to everyone he comes across.

When the Doctor sees Yana’s inventions, he’s starstruck. He’s finally found someone like him – an equal. “Oh, it's easy coming in at the end, but you're stellar. This is, this is magnificent. And I don't often say that because, well, because of me.” He recognizes how underappreciated Yana is in this time – “If you'd been born in a different time, you'd be revered. I mean it. Throughout the galaxies.”

They briefly take a break to talk about the constant never-ending drumming Yana hears in his head and this iconic look™ happens.

When Yana opens the watch and turns back into the Master, ten rushes to get to him, he begs him to open the door, to let him in “I'm begging you. Everything's changed! It's only the two of us! We're the only ones left! Just let me in!” But, the Master, the only other person like him in the entirety of the universe, escapes with his own Tardis.

The Face of Boe’s prophecy and the Doctor’s wish have come true. He’s not alone anymore.

But it doesn’t last as the Doctor (not even two episode later) has to watch as the Master dies in his arms refusing to regenerate because it would mean having to spend the rest of his lives imprisoned wit” him.

He’s alone again.

Professor Yana just like the Wizard has a lot of responsibility. They are both good men at heart. But are still not able to fulfil the wishes of the people relying on them.

But at the same time, they are both humbugs.

A humbug, as defined by Miriam Webster, is “a false or deceiving person or thing, a fraud”. Both Oz and Yana are humbugs in both meanings of the word. They are both “false people” with the Wizard being merely a projection controlled by Oz and Yana literally being a “false person”, a fake identity created by the Chameleon arch. They are both good men at heart – they want to or at least try to fulfil the wishes brought before them – but they both deceive their “subjects” – so they’re more morally grey. Yana tries his hardest to build a rocket and a system to power it made out of food scraps. He’s using technology the Doctor has never even heard of. Yana may be a good person, but ultimately the Master is not.

In the end, Jack, Martha and the doctor barely manage to escape with Jack’s vortex manipulator – his red sparkly shoes.

hi y'all i know this blog has been dead for like literal years at this point but i just had the most Classic Trope-Filled Omo Experience and i feel the need to share

so basically the plan for the day was: go get lunch at a nearby cafe, then ride the train an hour into the city and walk to the library to do some writing

had a glass of water right before heading out of the house, literally paused on the front steps like "hmm should i pee before i go" but then was like "nahh i just went like 15 minutes ago i'll be fine" (the most famous of last words)

headed to the cafe and had a 24 oz green tea lemonade w my lunch bc it's hot out. (this is not foreshadowing at all, trust me.) could definitely feel myself starting to need to go a tiny bit so was gonna use the cafe bathroom before i left... but then there was a line of like 3 or 4 people that appeared not to be moving at all, and I really didn't need to go that bad at that point and also got a late start today and didn't want to get to the library too late so was like "fuck it, i'll pee when i get there and headed out"

(the omo-loving-fuck in me was also definitely like a tiny bit like. >:3c hmmm be a shame if i didn't pee before getting on an hour long train ride.....)

so went and got on the train, listened to my tunes, and as you can imagine, started needing to go worse and worse over the course of the ride 😳 started out w my legs apart bc I was holding my backpack between them, very much had them pressed together/was shifting around a bit by the time i arrived at my stop. at like 7/10 already quickly turning into an 8/10

so all i had to do was walk the 10 minutes to the library and piss right? Wrong. here's the most "this story sounds like it was made up but it actually happened" twist: there's a Big Event happening in a couple of days in the middle of my town that they're getting set up for, and all the construction/set up going on forced me to take a detour the long way around, with my bladder getting fuller and fuller all the while 😨

two further things that sound like embellishments but did actually happen on my way to the library:

got stopped by some sweet older ladies from another country who were there for the Big Event as tourists wanted me to take their picture, and then because i was friendly they started asking me a bunch of questions about myself/the area after i took the picture and i was actually quite enjoying chatting with them but also secretly starting to get rly desperate and trying not to squirm!!

excused myself and kept heading towards the library, def at a 8 or even a 9 out of 10 at this point, my bladder was very much full of water and tea and demanding to be emptied and i was kinda sucking in my breath though my teeth and grimacing despite myself. then, WHAT DO YOU KNOW: there was one of those little restroom trailers already all set up for the upcoming Event, with no one in line!! except even as i was hopefully approaching a part of me was like "it's not the day of the Event yet so these are gonna be locked aren't they." pulled on the handle and... yup. locked. steps from a toilet and i couldn't even use it 🚻❌😭 which very much just teased me and made things worse

so at this point i really, REALLY need to go and there's nothing left to do with my aching bladder but to speedwalk to the library, which I do, dodging through the crowd which is annoyingly already here even though the event isn't for a couple days, and i can't think about anything else other than how much i want to pull down my shorts and piss, to the point that i am fantasizing about ducking behind a corner and squatting in the grass, even though realistically it's way too crowded to get away with that

FINALLY, finally made it to the library and, blissfully, there was nothing else standing in my way 😮‍💨 made a beeline to the restrooms in the lobby and there was a free stall waiting for me and i had one of the loveliest, most satisfying pees i've had in a long time 🥰

and now i'm here, typing this all up in the library when i'm supposed to be working on a project, squirming again but this time from how horny this all made me 😉 (and also cause i already need to go a little again lmao)

what did you think of 40oz to fresno? and in what order would you rank jm’s albums? 👀

TBH i think it's a huge return to form, in the best way possible. Million Dollars had some jams and i don't mind that they were trying some new stuff (i understand it was gonna be a barry solo record at one point? so the change in sound makes even more sense) but stylistically it's my least fave record. 40oz feels like the album that exists in the space btwn the rawer sound of the first two records and the polish after Cody. i think it's REALLY solid the whole way through (weakest tracks are the opener and closer imo, but they're both just Fine and not bad) but my faves are probably "reason to believe" and "did you ever know?"

ranking is TOUGH bc there's no album that doesn't have at least a few songs i genuinely love. but i'll try. for you

never hungover again - PERFECT blend of raw oldschool jm and the current level of polish. "catalina fight song" is one of the best songs they've ever written. + victoria, schley, heart tattoo - TONS of perfect jams

s/t - my FIRST JM record and will always be near to my heart. emotive, fast n loud, aggressive, funny but still earnest. it's got everything i love about the band. "constant headache" is a great song, but overrated imo. "orange julius" is an all-timer

40oz to freedom - at the risk of copping out to the challenge, i think this album and Of All Things could swap places in this list based on like. whatever i listened to last. but as stated above, i think it's a great record. according to last.fm i have racked up over 300 plays on it since june.

of all things i will soon grow tired - i know they like this record the least but i don't understand WHY, bc it fuckin rips. there's something kinda queasy about it, in a good way. like, it's a very tortured 14 minutes - except for maybe the "video killed the radio star" cover, which is pure joy. but yeah, fuck, "if i needed you there" + "bride of usher" you really can't top a combo like that.

cody - honestly i was mixed on cody when it first came out, but its grown on me a lot. it was a big departure from the way they wrote and recorded songs before. less gnarly than the old stuff, more poppy. i think they're good songs, i love every time we get to see an old song show up after years like with "stairs." i think seeing them tour this a lot probably helped it grow on me too. "eighteen" and "fake ID" are genuine bops

collection / songs from northern torrance - including both of these but putting them on the same line bc they're comps of old tracks. "chumped" + "five beer plan" + "midnight service at the mutter museum" + "house warning party" HELL YEA (though i think Songs From should have included the old old "chumped on a bus" version of "chumped")

million dollars to kill me - again not a BAD record, but my least fave. the softer stuff ("i'm not the one" + "wildflowers" + "silly games" etc) just doesn't really hit for me. HOWEVER - the return of the barry yell in "big lie" really, really saves this record for me. that and stuff like "fighting kangaroo" and "up the punx"
