Something that really sets Wille and Simon apart from other queer ships is that when we say their love language is physical touch, IT REALLY IS PHYSICAL TOUCH. And I’m not speaking of just sex. Over the course of the show, the amount of touching between them is astronomical. And that’s really something rarely seen in queer media. There may be moments here or there, but often times there’s a lack of physical contact unless it’s for “the plot”. Wille and Simon feel like a real couple in the way they’re always physically reaching out for each other.

That gifset of the handshake made me think about Clancy and Torchy doing it in the nico mv and now I'm pondering the narrative logic for the characters doing it when they meet up there..... because on one hand it implies that they do know each other/are probably already good friends (wink) and have spent time together before, even though Clancy's writing doesn't explicitly indicate that. On the other hand, it could be they've in fact never seen each other in their lives before that moment, and upon locking eyes for the first time their bodies just Did That as some type of instinctive bro/mating ritual

Every character on this show struggles with feeling unlovable because they're somehow broken or dirty or just put together wrong but for my money the real winners in this terrible competition are Claudia and Armand. There are, I think, a lot of echos between them especially in showverse- parental abandonment, abuse, being rescued and remade by vampires. Armand was one year older than Claudia when a vampire found him in a terrible situation and brought him home. So naturally just as Claudia finds someone she thinks could really love and know all of her Armand is going to kill her in the desperate hope of keeping someone who might love and know all of him.

I love and respect angsty 🍖🍃 takes, tragedy is delicious and theirs deserved more time and exploration, I want to drown myself in their tragedy and other people’s takes on it
But at the same time, when a bitch (me) starts writing them, it’s going to be as the ghostly realm’s genderfluid Gomez and Morticia Addams, SQX got punted back down to being a mortal which means they can become a ghost, the Black Water arc was not their breakup but was in fact necessary for SQX and their supreme calamity spouse to be happily married, sometimes He Xuan will be in the middle of kissing and caressing their way up SQX’s bare leg only to get yanked away by Hua Cheng kicking in the door like “YOU STILL OWE ME MONEY AND I AM INVOKING A FAVOR” while He Xuan squawks and hisses like an incredibly upset cat and SQX pouts and fumes and goes into Xie Lian’s private communication array to complain to him about his husband being an obnoxious cockblock, etc. etc. etc.
I apologize for nothing, I’m just living my 🍖🍃 truth

also, my dad did tune in for the last ep of s1 and the first ep of s2 while i was rewatching and well, the best part abt watching anything with a 55 yr old man is that he gets ALL thee pop culture references and when john gave sam his fake insurance card and sam read out the name "Elroy McGillicuddy" my dad immediately went "oh that's a reference! Elroy is from The Jetsons and McGillicuddy is a reference from I Love Lucy" and i was like......i literally would never have gotten that.
also the SuperWiki does list the McGillicuddy reference in the Trivia section for the 2x01 but i don't think the name "Elroy" is a clear reference, though the fact that my dad immediately thought of a character in pop culture from a time period that would be relevant to the characters and show writers makes me think he might actually be right

I need to talk about Minecraft AU for a sec and how the difference between our world and their world makes for some of the most humorous but also interesting differences in how people act about certain subjects.
Like the trans thing right. Steve and Rana are both trans I've talked about that before. And neither of them are on hormone replacement or anything (there is an in universe explanation as to why Steve has a beard though I promise I can talk about that if anyone wants) but like that's fine bc it literally Doesn't Matter to them or anyone else.
Like as spawned players they already don't have any pre-existing gender roles or ideas of what something "should" be so gender and presentation is what they make of it and there's no real solid idea in anyone's mind about how a "boy" or "girl" behaves or looks like. These are labels that exist but they barely mean anything.
It also helps that any preexisting culture that WOULD have ideas of this was almost entirely destroyed like 5000 years ago (thanks Groda) so it matters even less than it already did.
And its funny bc the only two people alive from that era, White Eyes and Groda also just don't care. Groda maybe asks why Rana's voice sounds deeper once and nearly gets torn apart by Alex bc of it (Rana isn't offended or anything she just has a defensive girlfriend), bc she doesn't really understand because she never experienced anything like this first hand but very quickly comes to understand it and accept it.
And on the other hand White Eyes is just like "I've seen weirder things than this" which yeah. Yeah honestly I think the person who was previously one with the undead would not care about gender in the grand scheme of things.
And then u have Kai which I've joked before that they may as well have been spawned in nonbinary. They rlly just said "I'm not really anything" and everyone was like yeah makes sense I vibe with it. Good for u.
Steve and Rana are both fairly open about having been the opposite genders previously (because that's how they view their experiences and that's valid!) and don't really shy away from the subject but also never really have much reason to talk about it since there's rarely a need to. In the modern day pretty much everyone who met them had met them post-transition. Even Alex had met them just before Steve started growing in his beard.
The only people who ever knew them as Adam and Eve were Efe and Sunny but they never really thought it was weird or anything. Like the weirdest part to them was Steve saying he got his epiphany from seeing some guy in the distance on a foggy day who looked vaguely like him but that's its own subject manner that they aren't going to pry on.
Also Steve did DIY top "surgery" previously with a sword but we aren't going to talk about how messy that was for everyone involved.
