2024 review

this year i explored a lot of the darker characters/dynamics which was an absolute pleasure, but i think such heavy plots also drained the energy out of me (or maybe it was the absolute monster of a wip i was writing consistently all year). while i did slip in some fluffy lighthearted fics here and there, i decided to take a break in november from writing in general. after an actual no-writing few weeks, i went back to my wip series and decided to just follow my heart (as if i hadn't already been doing that before) but more importantly, not force myself to write.

as of 2024, i have written more than a million words in a span of 3 years. i think i deserve to be slow with writing now! (plus, life, folks. real life.) thank you to all my lovely mutuals and readers for the incredible support you've shown me here!

- posted: march 27th - pairing: droid!jongho x programmer!reader - comments: this was THE toughest fic to plan (not the time travel ones, not even mafia, but THIS). i haven't read many droid stories so lack of reader knowledge, and then wanting to still make a plot out of it other than 'omg my boyfriend turned into a droid' was hard. i rewrote this so many times but i'm very satisfied with how it turned out.

Thanks to @sakuranova07 on Tumblr who came up with the idea and a LOT of other people who kept egging me, at last BEHOLD, I have written THE detective story casting THE Georgia Tennant as a detective as she investigates crimes in her little hometown tinged with an element of the supernatural. This is an original piece of fiction and the characters are my ocs. The actors have merely been casted for the roles (bcs it is fun, helps visualize the story and also bcs who doesn't wanna see Georgia play a kooky detective).

hi!! i'm back lol - well, the craziness at work is done and I'm slowly getting back to writing bc I haven't written in like a week and it's killing me lol (this is gonna sound dramatic but I literally don't feel like myself if I don't write for too long haha) I don't have anything new to share rn, but I figured since it's already december and since some of y'all are sharing Christmas fics, and knowing I likely won't write one this year, I'm gonna shamelessly plug my holiday fake dating fic with 4 Christmases and 6 Christmas chapters actually 😂 (Christmas was a very important time for Buck and Eddie's relationship in this lol) - there's obvi more holidays in this but anyway, here's a snippet of their first Christmas together also, it's been a year since I posted the first chapter and I'm feeling nostalgic lol, this fic is my baby and I love it so much (tho there's so many things I'd change now lol)

Turns out, Buck is very much serious about the whole thing, and Christopher finds it hilarious and is eager to play along. Eddie doesn’t have valid arguments not to do it, and it’s not like he doesn’t want to. After another snide comment when talking to his parents, he made his decision. And he already felt this exciting feeling of satisfaction when he told them he’d be bringing someone for Christmas this year – miraculously, Buck and Eddie don’t work on Christmas, and they took an additional day off, so their schedules allow for a three-day trip to Texas. 

So now, it’s Christmas Eve and they’re on their way from the airport to Eddie’s childhood home, and he’s nervous, doubts just starting to seep in. What on earth possessed him to do this? He can’t lie to his family. He can’t pretend to be in love with Buck. What if he really does fall in love with him? What if everything goes to shit? He’s watched enough movies to know it’s a bad idea, but he couldn’t and still can’t bring himself to stop it.

“So.” Eddie says, his voice shaking slightly, as they sit in a cab. “We’re doing this.”

“Yep.” he can hear Buck grin next to him. “Unless you still wanna back out?” he adds quickly. They could still say Buck’s just a friend. No big deal. But Eddie does have this petty desire to stir something up, and this seems perfect. 

“No. It’ll be fine.” he smiles at Buck, and then feels hot when Buck grabs his hand and interlaces their fingers, winking at him. Christopher laughs.

“You’d make a great couple.” he comments. He’s been unusually happy about all of this. He also asked Eddie a few days ago if Eddie loves Buck, which prompted a conversation, but he thinks Chris knows what’s going on now. Eddie doesn’t really know what to think about that.

“Thanks, buddy.” Buck responds excitedly, squeezing Eddie’s hand, and he can’t contain a smile. If not anything else, at least all three of them are going to have a lot of fun.

shuggie bain - douglas stuart

i'm about halfway through this novel that i've been dying to read for a while now. i read young mungo, stuart's second novel, last year and it was an instant favorite of mine. and now i am absolutely devouring this one. it's set in glasgow, following the life of shuggie as he grows up with a mother that struggles very heavily with alcoholism. the hard life, described with love, without looking away from all the ugly parts, is what captivates me.

ulysses - james joyce

it is a huge goal in life to finish ulysses. i started a while ago (like.. 1,5 years ago) and now i'm about 1/3rd of the way through. i really enjoy it, but i don't have the proper brain for it every night. i know i will finish it eventually, because when i do have the right brain, i enjoy it a lot

after the revolution - robert evans

this is on my phone, for when i'm on the go and didn't bring a physical book. it's written by one of my favorite podcast hosts ever, and so far it's an interesting look into his brain tbh. it's an imagination of what the us would look like in the future, maybe fifty years from now, after a huge revolution has taken place and the country is split into warring factions. relevant... perhaps. BOOKS THAT I WANT TO READ AGAIN

i think i want to read the song of achilles again at some point. but i don't know. i think at this point in my life i'm so excited about reading new books, that i don't want to reread things just yet! but i have a few books i read when i was a lot younger and would like to read again, which will genuinely feel like i'm reading them for the first time. like some of the vonnegut ones i read almost ten years ago, or brideshead revisited, which i read before i was as adept as i am now at properly sussing out all the queer signalling.

BOOKS THAT I HAVE HAD FOR AN EMBARRASSING AMOUNT OF TIME WITHOUT FINISHING/READING THEM

books that i have started for a long time but haven't finished: ulysses huehuehuehueue buuuuut also lanark by alasdair gray. i've read it almost all the way through three times now lol, once for school and then twice since. i am captivated by this author's writing, since one of his other novels (something leather) is one of my favs of all time, but this is a brick of a book, set in a new world with a lot of unfamiliar scenes described in complicated language so... yeah. not an easy read. but i am determined to, at some point, read it all the way to the end.

as for the books that i've owned for ages but haven't read: the beat hotel - barry miles. i had a huge beat generation phase as a teen and i am actually still set on reading up on all of them. i have books that i bought back then and just never read past the first chapters. no idea why. third one in this line-up is a swim in a pond in the rain, which is basically literary theory poured into a nice book. it analyses scenes from russian literature. i once read a good chunk of it and loved it!!! and then i stopped lol. i had a major reading slump after 2019 ngl, which i'm only just coming back from. (so far i'm back up to speed when it comes to fiction, but non-fiction still needs a push, clearly)

BOOKS THAT I ALREADY OWN THAT I AM EXCITED TO READ

here's three, even though there are a lot more. my bookcase is a mess. but this year stephen fry is coming to my city to do a reading about mythos, so i will probably be reading that one first. i own troy, which i will probably read right before or soon after mythos. been loving all the books that help me brush up on my greek mythology. demon copperhead has been on my list for a while, and now my mom randomly found it in a little exchange library at the station. i think it'll be similar in vibes to shuggie bain, which i'm excited about. then i recently bought never anyone but you in a small indie queer/feminist bookshop in utrecht, nl. it's about the life of claude cahun and suzanne malherbe, two real historical figures from ww2 era france, who lived a beautiful, vibrant, artistic, but hard queer life. i already read a graphic novel about claude last year, so i'm excited to read this novel, which i assume will focus more on their love story.

i also wanted to mention some tbrs that i don't own and will probably download somewhere, because this year i want to focus again some more on politics and brush up on my knowledge and history of anarchism etc. so here's some of my (urgent) tbrs:

#i was actually surprised at how quickly they dropped their weird version of blackhands #like for over a year now they've been writing blackhands as this abusive relationship with ed as an uncontrollably violent toddler #which. you know. incredibly racist on its own #but then they claim they actually got it in canon and it's too much so they drop the brown guy and ship the white guys exclusively? #very very weird

^^its not actually weird at all!! it’s very simple: the brand of blackhands these shippers loved is when they could portray the relationship as constantly imbalanced in izzy’s favor bc ed needed to do so much work to Atone and izzy was a poor helpless victim to ed’s violence. and when i say they wanted that relationship constantly imbalanced i mean CONSTANTLY constantly, like they needed ed groveling they needed izzy being doted on they needed the entire dynamic of their relationship to be centered around how izzy is finally getting the love he “deserves” for putting up with ed and being ed’s victim for so long.

and now they got the first half of the dynamic they wanted which is ed being a domestic abuser and izzy being the target of ed’s abuse (i mean, they didn’t actually get it, but they THINK they did) but they had a part two to the dynamic that they didn’t end up getting which is “ed is permanently put in the doghouse” and to them, ed saying “sorry bout your leg” was not NEARLY enough groveling.

and!! ed even got to be happy in the season despite not fixing his relationship w izzy!! bc these fans only think abt any aspect in the show when they’re thinking abt “how can i make this about izzy” so like to them the most important part of any narrative analysis of ed revolves around his relationship with izzy (this is why ed leaving in 1x07 is abt missing izzy and not abt him being unsure of his relationship w stede, why they’ve written metas abt how the chain and run from me are edizzy songs, why there were headcanons that thankfully got squashed pretty quickly they DID exist for a minute abt how ed grew out his hair bc izzy had long hair when they were younger and ed thought it was cool) and they expected the show to write ed this way, too.

and then the worst part (and also the part i've seen izzy stans analyze the LEAST which is in no way a coincidence) is that in izzy's dying words he admits to Fueling Ed's Darkness for his own personal gain. he apologizes for being cruel to ed. and outside of their buzzword phrases about how this was a portrayal of "an abuse victim apologizing to their abuser" i haven't seen anyone from the izzy stan crowd dig into what it actually MEANS and what kind of harm izzy caused by feeding ed's darkness and pushing ed to be blackbeard, like they're acting as if izzy’s literal actual last words have no narrative significance whatsoever. but you’ll notice there are MANY posts from izzy stans abt how horrific the violence ed did to izzy was and how tragic it all is for poor izzy :(

so yeah. the three-hit combo of 1. not enough focus on ed atoning for harming izzy, 2. ed being allowed happiness despite not having properly atoned for harming izzy, and 3. the finale directly saying “izzy did bad things in this relationship, too” are why they fully fucking hate ed now and have abandoned ship to start writing stizzy now. like, we have a few stede and izzy interactions in s2, but for the most part their relationship is a blank enough slate that they can create a whole fully-fleshed out (and, lbr, probably very generic and overused) fanon dynamic out of scraps. but ed was given too much attention from the story outside of just being a vehicle to project izzy’s desires onto and also the source of izzy’s trauma and they can’t reconcile their version of edizzy with what happens in canon. thinking abt edizzy means thinking abt how canon didn’t punish ed enough and how ed got a happy ending when izzy didn’t, even tho in their minds ed is the reason for the majority of izzy’s misery.

yeah that is a pretty good summation of everything.

tho thinking about it, i do think there's a secret 4th component as to why they're now dropping ed completely and shipping stizzy, which is how stede became more masc this season. i think the show makes it pretty clear the reason for it is that stede thinks he has to become more masculine and violent to get ed back and keep him, but that doesn't really matter to them. the fact remains that stede is now dressing in muted colors and leather, and pulls out his sword on a dime. so now they're more comfortable enjoying him.

King's of a Purple Sea: Update 1/21/25

I'm over the hump!

The majority of the main plot has been written! It's been broken up into two chapters, each around 15,000 words unedited. There are three ch's left, but they are much shorter and really are there to just wrap things up.

Because I'd prefer to release the ch's once all of them are done, I'm still going to be holding off before posting what I have so far. School starts up for me in a few days though, so getting to the last three ch's might be a bit longer.

Still, I think I can get through them before school starts to get hard lol. As long as everything is written, I'll start editing and posting weekly.

I can't wait for this to be over, for satisfaction and bc it's special to me, but also so that I can write in other wips/share some new fics I've been working on instead of writing in my wips

The next wip id like to finally finish is Love Forever, Your Soldier bc I love it so much and its been six years since I started it. I started writing it sr yr of highschool and i think it would be poetic to get to it my final semester of college!

Two new fics I've gotten multiple ch's deep in but haven't posted are a Gojo/Geto fic from Jujutsu Kiasen and a Thomas Shelby x Reader fic from Peaky Fucking Blinders Mate - aka stories only I want to read lol

Last bit - I've been rewatching some seasons of Teen Wolf and my thoughts are endless and Sterek is taking over my life again not that they every rlly stopped wtf

Anyway, long rambling update aside, Pirate fic is almost done!

I'm so sorry that the appreciation for your stories isn't reaching you as it should. I'm just now beginning to understand better ways to support my favorite writers, but now I know reblogs and genuine comments are my best bet at telling y'all how much I love your stories 💗

So (and I'm sorry if this is too long lol), I'll tell you some of my fav things about ATIMY! I'd love for you to continue the story, but as a writer, I understand the need to pause and re-think if its really what you want —specially when one feels like you do rn 🫂

1. I absolutely, and I cannot describe this enough, the background and personality of Reader. She's raw, and I honestly think that's the best word I can describe this story with. It's my favourite thing about it too! Reader is so incredibly emotional to read, her anxiousness is palpable and it's strangely soothing to go through. I see pieces of myself reflected in her, but its written so smoothly and realistically, as one would talk to themselves, that the anxiety portrayed by her ends up soothing mine in a way lmao

2. I cannot stress this enough too, but MINNIE!! That bundle of joy was something I didn't know I needed, but I craved ever since I discovered. The idea of Matt being a father is so surprising, and new, and exciting! I remember reading chapters where both Foggy and Matt pondered over the idea —they were so right to think it'd lead Matt to better. You found a way of making a plot device —the classic tough man protecting himself more finally, because of his girls — so pure and wholesome in Minnie, and I love her character so much I now see her in everuy bubbly toddler on the market 💞

3. And most of all, and because I've never written an ask before so idk how long this can be —the clear thought and love to the plit you've poured into it. I'm tired of people writing Matt or any character purely because he's...idk, hot? I've never found such a complex and beautiful story about him like yours. It nexes romance, but also the giddiness of bonding with your child, AND it's written through various POV's that connect MANY arcs to the story? This is a GEM, and I find myself expecting far more than just Reader's and Matt's interactions. I'm excited reading Minnie's chapter, or where the Sokovian Accords arc is going to lead us to. Orrr, the risks of Minnie and her powers, already different from Matt's 👀

You may've noticed by now English isn't my first language haha. I'm sorry if I didn't get to explain myself clearly. But the point is, I'm sorry for not showing the love more, in name of everyone.

You created the reason I started logging on tumblr every day to check for updates. We love this story, and I just hope we can help you make you fall in love with it again too ❤️‍🩹

Thank you for all the kind words. I'm glad people can relate to Reader. I feel like I get mixed reactions sometimes, so I'm glad my over thinking everything isn't a hinder to the story.

I'm glad ppl like Minnie. I know ppl do not like kid fics and don't like original kids much, so I'm glad the feedback for her is so positive.

I have a lot of controversial opinions about how ppl write Matt, so thank you for thinking I write him well. Thank you for sharing you enjoy all my plots and care about the Sokovia stuff.

I've put a lot of research and hours into making sure everything lines up correctly and I hope I do it justice.

Again thank you for sending this. I've reread it multiple times, trying to tell myself you aren't just saying nice things bc I complained. I'm amazed I haven't gone and deleted all my posts talking about my insecurities bc I have severe anxiety and would rather pretend I don't exist and isolate myself than bother anyone.

I 10000% believe I annoy ppl when I mention feeling self doubt or disappoint in feedback bc my fics are generally well received. I do get comments and kudos and likes when others don't, so I feel like a horrible person whose bragging if I mention a dip in feedback, bc I'm getting it in the first place. lukasdoodles has genuinely one of the most unique art styles that i have ever that is both adorable AND menacing /pos at times. their artwork consists of colorful lineart, and INSANELY detailed clothings, like oh my god. they're also INSANELY creative when it comes to it as well, putting in so many ruffles, and belts, and!!! so much more!! not only that but they have a bunch of blaze rods drawings on their blog!! including gill, who i think is one of the underrated characters in mcsm! they also do some animation every now and then, which is always so cool to see!!

zonerz is one of those dual part artist and dual part writers with their great artwork and writing! they're really good at putting together lore and is super in-depth when it comes down to the nitty gritty! their armor drawings are really well done and i admire the attention to details with every single one of their drawings!!

fel is one of the coolest fucking people i have ever met and #1 cassie rose fan. their artstyle reminds me of traditional paintings that you would find in a museum, like it is so refined and their character anatomy is ON POINT with how they draw muscles and scars so realistically. their aiden design is also one of the most dazzling to me bc of how they incorporate lightning into his scars. ALSO a huge aidrose fan if not THE president of the goddamn ship. they have so many character analysis on them both together and separately and they're always written SO WELL WITH SO MUCH RESPECT TO THE SOURCE MATERIAL.

crow has a bunch of fantastic mcsm content but one of their most fascinating ones is their command!lukas au, which has a whole story to go alongside it but i won't spoil it ;) and their individual jesse au where every single jesse has their own personality traits and they're so unique and well written!! absolutely love both au to bits!

acraftedmistake's art is unique in the sense that it is purely traditional and takes great advantage of paper texture as well as textures from markers and pens to make its presence known! to add to that, they do a bunch of mcsm work themed around horror! i do need to put a warning that they sometimes involve gore though it is very artistically done!! phenomenal artist!!

Zhenya has enough content to the point where i can make an entire POST this long to talk about her and the absolutely stunning drawings she makes about mcsm, particularly about the old order of the stone. she excels at drawing ivor, harper, and soren the most, though she has dwelved into other characters that haven't had the most light shed on them. my absolute favorite thing about her artwork is her artstyle because it is this GORGEOUS sketchy style where both the colors and the lines express themselves SO WELL and SO EFFECTIVELY! i can go raving mad about it honestly

Nova's artwork, i would like to define it, is filled with love and care. Her lineart and coloring patterns are colorful and light, as if they were drawn for the illustration for a book series, filled with so much delight. Nova's specialty is how she both writes and draws Ellegaard with so much appreciation for her character and through her portrayal of her. It's nothing short of dedication and heart. Nova's other works are also great as well and they do a lot to show Nova's artistic talent.

Dying Is Easy, Living Is Harder. I have many ideas for it but unfortunately, I'm not obsessed enough about the characters to fulfill them lmao. Also An Unexpected Visit bc similar to the previous one I have a lot of ideas, but I just don't think I am talented enough to actually write those ideas.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I've rewritten this answer 10 times, but no version felt right. At one point, I decided I was just gonna skip it. BUT NO. I'm gonna stop worrying about other peepz opinions and just say what I actually believe. And here it is.

I know how to make my writing more immersive with various details like sounds, smells, sensations etc. (and I LOVE doing this. The only issue is I sometimes do it either too much or too little ahdjkhsd)

I am VERY nitpicky. This can seem more like a flaw (and it is), but it has also helped me grow and understand what I like and dislike about my writing. It also means I spend a lot of time editing which makes posting SO much more satisfying (tho sometimes I gotta get those shorter fics out there for the instant serotonin boost lol)

I'm not a huge fan of characters who say/do things that don't make sense considering the genre/plot. Spending more time on this is challenging since I both dislike and SUCK at writing dialogue (why is English so HARD??), but it is also a lot of fun bc I think I am getting better at it.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Well, that part about being nitpicky is obviously a lie bc I didn't realize question 17 was gone ahdjshdkj. But I was the one who noticed it first among my friends so...maybe? Nope lol

English grammar. I have to double check every time I write a message to online friends to make sure what I've written is actually a sentence that makes sense.The thing is - I think I'm pretty good, but I actually suck. One time, I wrote mold wine instead of mulled wine in a fic. Never living that down. This is I think why it takes me so long to edit lmao.

Being too harsh on myself and not allowing myself to feel proud about my accomplishments/comparing my writing to other people. Yes, compared to other fantastic writers I suck, and it will always be like that. It's something I'm still struggling to accept, but I'm getting there!

Writing quickly. Like shutting off my brain and just writing doesn't work for me. I have to be there and edit every single sentence that I don't like, and I think this is why it takes so long for me to finish the first draft. Def gotta work on this!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Hmm. Instinctively, I think it makes more sense to write something like, "Person A said something in a language I didn't understand" than to write in that language. It's more fun that way. And if both the pov character and I don't understand what Person A saying it makes me sympathize with the pov character more.

That being said, if I ever see someone writing in Swedish in a fic, I will be immensely happy (and horrified)

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Rise of the Guardians on ffn. The fic is still there and is still hot garbage, but I did have a lot of fun writing it.

20. Favourite fic you've written?

I know what my LEAST favorite one is hjkahdsjk. Nah but for real, I love all my fics for very specific reasons. Like I have a sort of emotional connection with all of them depending on where I was in life, how I was feeling emotionally at the time, etc.

My top 3 would probably be Long Way Down (To The Bottom Of The River) bc it was the first fic I put a lot of thought and effort into, There Are Softer Oak Trees bc it makes me soft and fuzzy when I think about it, and cardboard box bc the comments made me fkn cackle.

It's a mash up of a lot of different tiny Kakashi hc's I've posted about and should be very fun (and depressing, but that's kind of my brand, so.)

- One Step Three Steps chapter 10, it's going well so far actually I just keep writing it at work then being forced to stop bc like. Work. Might go up this week, hopefully

- Chasing Shadows chapter 4, it's like 20% done? Ish? I just need to find the head space to get back to writing it, will go up within the next 2 weeks for sure but idk when exactly. It'll be great tho ur gonna get Hikaku, Fugaku, Shisui, Mikoto, just all the cool Uchiha. Lots of politics, lots of drama, the works

- Itama and the secret senju weed empire fic,,,, it will be long and it will be beautiful which means it'll take me forever to do, sorry

- Magical Girl Izuna AU (my beloved) I got distracted by other projects midway through writing chapter 1 but I'll get there eventually

- Little lab mystery where kid edo-tensei reincarnations of Madara and Tobirama wake up with no memories and immediately stage a jail break

- Nin burger!!!!! Yes this is a real thing yes I meant to post it like the same week I started making it but then I got distracted and didn't. But I swear to fucking GOD I will see it complete. Nin Burger is my favorite real naruto restaurant that is real

- That one oneshot where Madara and Tobirama spend a festival night in the capital together as children, and Madara develops his very first crush on the fox masked boy, but seems to be doomed never to meet him again— till Konoha's first festival is held and he sees a man wearing the very same mask, waiting for him in the crowds. Might not actually finish this one tbh but also maybe I'll save it for tbmd week?? Idk

Considering / Planning;

- Hikaku as the Uchiha clan head after Madara's betrayal comic,,, not an actual fic but I wanna make this so bad. I've written notes for it I just need to get along to drawing it

- Izuna in Wonderland comic, honestly I'll probably end up doing the entire thing in one go one night when I get hit in the face w a brick w motivation. So it'll be a surprise for both u guys and me when I post that! I always do my comics in one go bc I physically can't bring myself to return to art projects if interrupted, which means I tend to do longer ones on my days off where I have literally nothing else to do or distract me, but I haven't had one of those in like. 2 months now. So. But I will soon!! Umm. Maybe.

- Here Before and After Me chapter 2, I'll probably make one eventually but who tf knows when. I have a very specific vision of Kakashi following Tobirama onto the battlefield and scaring the shit out of a very alarmed and confused Izuna

- Tobirama and Izuna's field trip through time and space, I don't think I want to commit to a full fic bc it'd be seriously long and I'm already commiting to Chasing Shadows and One Step Three Steps as my regular update long fics, then the MG Izuna au and Itama fic as my "write it all behind the scenes then post" long fics. One shots only for me, sorry. But I do wanna write a silly one shot of the boys crash landing face first into a konoha council meeting during their field trip

Last reblog got me thinking about all the DMC longfic ideas I have bouncing around in my brain and so far we've got:

Post-DMC5 Dante Time Travel fic (started December 2023, 105k words in, all unpublished)

DMC1/5 Fusion, slash Dante stuck in Hell post DMC1 (Started February 2024, 101k words in, partially published)

Mundus raises Dante and Vergil in Hell post-fire (a few thousand words, first chapter posted on tumblr).

DMC3/1 Ancient AU, aka Dante and Vergil are actually 2k years old like one of the old manuals/game guides seemed to imply (A few thousand words in.)

DMC4 Ancient AU, alt universe of the above where Lady's family has a Belmont/Alucard situation with Dante, and Nero is still the surprise son with Vergil out of the picture (Exists in a tumblr post as a longer concept, no fic written. )

Nero Early Adoption AU, where Nero's arm changes at 10 and he ends up getting kidnapped & experimented on by the Order, alerting Lady to their actions earlier and causing Dante to investigate and adopt him. (12k words long, current NaNo/writing project)

Then for "longfics" I've started writing that will probably not actually end up as longfics because I don't know where to go with them or otherwise can't get the words to come out even if I do:

Replacement/what if Dante died Post-DMC5 and Vergil took on his identity (2 chapters in, 3rd started but stalled)

Vergil Post-DMC5 Bad Ending Time Travel fic, where his consciousness is inserted into his 6-7 year old self (7k words in but stuck bc of characterization)

On top of these are the various one-shots and fics that will hopefully be under 30k words that I've started which uh. Well there are more of those so I'm not going to bother listing them for now because the point of this post was to talk about my problem with having waaaay too many longfics on my hands. I'm actively working on three of them! Well, two right now. I've stalled with Time Travel fic number one. I'll probably get back to it when I either finish DMC1/5 Fusion or hit the end of November and am not so focused on the Nero fic. We'll see. I actually really like that one conceptually and am only a few chapters from the end, but it needs so much revision bc of lore realizations that it's Daunting and I haven't touched it in a hot minute. Rip.

Hector and Karlach!

(Almost did this for Rasaad and Jaheira because they've been rotating in my head a lot lately but maybe that will be another post if there's interest. XD )

Some of this is new for me to think about, but a lot of it is based on things that happen in Prayers and Hellfire and Quiet Zone.

A = Aftercare (What they’re like after sex)

Massive snugglefest. XD Karlach does take a mildly dominant role most of the time but it's always a v soft vibe between them so the drop is minimal, but both of them are always very high on the endorphins and very much wanting to be close. (This is the case always, really, though - being able to touch each other at all always feels like a tremendous gift under the circumstances.)

B = Body part (Their favorite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)

I haven't written about this yet (it's on the never-ending to-do list) but Hector comes to be both entertained and fascinated by Karlach's tail - especially when he discovers that it is very sensitive on the underside right at the base.

Karlach, if asked this question, would immediately joke that she likes hs ass and his tongue, but the truth is she finds his eyes mesmerizing.

C = Cum (Where does your muse prefer to cum/have someone cum?)

Almost always inside. Hector definitely likes this best as it feels very intense and intimate and lets him give up any sense of his usual discipline, but he would change it up if Karlach asked him to. Luckily, though, she feels the same way, and after her raunchy adventures in her youth in Baldur's Gate she's very familiar with cleric services available to make sure nothing comes of it.

(This does mean she ends up bugging Shadowheart a lot until they get to the city. Shadowheart grumbles a lot about this.)

D = Dirty secret (Pretty self explanatory: a dirty secret of theirs)

Honestly, I don't think the two of them have many secrets between them? Hector is fairly reserved but Karlach could tell him she wants basically anything and he would be ready to give it a go.

They did basically pine excessively for each other in secret all the way up until Act 2 bc Hector never got Karlach's Act 1 romance scene. :P

E = Experience (How experienced are they? Do they know what they’re doing?)

Hector has never had sex before his first time with Karlach. Karlach has a tremendous amount of experience from her youth but is ten years out of practice.

Consequently, Karlach definitely knows what she's doing in a physical sense and is not shy about telling him exactly what she wants - and he is happy for the guidance. But even for her, their relationship is new ground in a lot of ways; she's never had a long-term relationship before, or one where the sex was so grounded in love.

So in that sense they're both equally inexperienced and the whole thing is very much a learning process. (I should make a note to write fic at some point about some bit of miscommunication or something that eventually happens because there's no way it's smooth sailing all the way through. XD )

F = Favorite position (This goes without saying)

"I want to ride you till you see stars," as Karlach says. She's often on top, which Hector enjoys; he likes feeling the intensity of her weight on him. (He's fully aware that she could snap him in half and he's only human and definitely finds that part of the appeal. XD )

Sometimes, though (as in Prayers and Hellfire), Karlach just really wants Hector to take control and blow her back out, and then they'll usually go for missionary. Hector likes this too - basically he prefers any position where he can look in her eyes during the whole experience.

Karlach also very much enjoys being fucked up against a wall, although their relative heights make this a little challenging sometimes. Once they're staying at the House of Hope during their Avernus campaign post-game, they find a lovely little corner of one of the bedrooms that has a molding lip at about Karlach's waist height, allowing her to lean against it to comfortably get a little lower and let Hector work her over, and it becomes their favorite part of the whole place.

G = Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment? Are they humorous? etc.)

It's not by accident that in Prayers and Hellfire their first time coming together is marked by laughter. :) (And basically all of Quiet Zone is marked by humor on some level.)

Hector is not a very goofy person by nature, and he does see sex (and sex with her specifically) as a sort of sacred act of connection, caring, service. But Karlach is a goofy person, and he enjoys that aspect of her very much - and she brings it out in him more than most people, too. So laughter and teasing are definitely a big part of their intimate moments together in almost all cases.

I think there are definitely individual times when it is more serious, however. There's certainly more than one time in their post-game Avernus adventures where the sex is coming in the aftermath of one of them having been in danger/injured. And probably there are times when Hector's comforting Karlach away from bad memories of her ten-year conscription and the loneliness it entailed - times when the act itself is a lot more emotional.

H = Hair (How well groomed are they? Does the carpet match the drapes? etc.)

I'm with those who headcanon that Karlach doesn't bother shaving anywhere. Maybe she did back in the city, but certainly not in Avernus - why would she? - and the habit definitely never came back. Hector is not bothered by this; it's fully something he never had any occasion to give any thought to prior to knowing her, and he doesn't intend to start now. I don't think she has super thick body hair (I don't really see tieflings as having it in general), but what she does have is dark like her head hair.

Hector has lived a very disciplined lifestyle and as such takes pretty rigorous care of himself in terms of cleanliness and personal grooming. He has a medium amount of body hair, also very dark and speckled with grey like his beard and head.

Not quite the intention of the question but Karlach also really enjoys his beard. She likes to fidget with it and feel the texture of it when they're lying around snuggling. c:

I = Intimacy (How are they during the moment? The romantic aspect)

They are such enormous saps for each other it's not even funny. XD And given the way their relationships started, the whole thing is VERY about touch, even more than it would be for most people. No matter what position they're in it's always about being pressed very closely together so as much of them is touching as possible. As mentioned above, Hector really likes being able to look into her eyes and feel as connected as he can during the whole experience.

J = Jack off (Masturbation headcanon)

Masturbation was Hector's only sexual release for his whole life before he met Karlach and it was always something that had to be pretty furtive and secret. He doesn't really have much occasion to do it once they're together, given Karlach's libido, but a few times he does end up pleasuring himself in their tent on nights when she's too tired/injured from some adventure to really participate.

The first time this happens, she notices it - and also notices the fact that he's trying to be subtle/quiet/unnoticed, out of habit from how he would do it in the monastery. And, even though she's too wrecked to actually get involved, she nudges him to not be secretive about it and let her watch and it ends up being a surprisingly intense moment for both of them.

This feels weird to say given how horndog Karlach is, but I actually don't see either of them as being particularly kinky? I don't think either of them has quite the imagination for coming up with real off-the-wall approaches to sex. XD Karlach describes her earlier sexual escapades as "if it moves, climb aboard", which doesn't suggest a very nuanced and varied approach, and Hector knows basically nothing and is operating primarily on instinct.

Consequently I think the closest they get to kinky stuff is the sort of soft-dom-Karlach dynamic they fall into right from the get-go, though occasionally they do end up experimenting with reversing the roles.

L = Location (Favorite places to do the do)

Anywhere? Karlach's not particularly picky, certainly. XD

Between camp life and post-game Avernus adventures, they definitely learn to be kind of undiscerning in what constitutes ideal conditions for sex. However - moments like the Act 3 romance scene, where they're actually able to get true privacy and take their time, consequently become very important to both of them. It's not really about exactly where they are, but about having that situation of being entirely to themselves for a while and not having to think about anything else.

M = Motivation (What turns them on, gets them going?)

They're both pretty good at getting each other excited simply by existing. XD Some turn-ons though:

Post-battle adrenaline (especially anything where one of them caught the other being a badass)

As mentioned in Quiet Zone, Karlach finds it really hot when Hector gets into super focused thinky mode. (She would have jumped his bones after the Ansur chess puzzle if the circumstances had allowed.)

Also based on Quiet Zone, I think Hector quite enjoys being distracted by her when he's in the middle of something (as long as it's not something critically important). Something about having his life of cerebral pursuits interrupted by emotion letting himself get swept up in her raw physical power over him. This pairs well with Karlach who loves watching him try (and fail) to keep control of himself in these situations.

(Hm. Maybe I'm changing my answer slightly on the "kink" section; I feel like maybe they'd enjoy one of those situations where he's trying to work on something and she's under the desk. XD )

N = No (something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)

Given Karlach's history with being conscripted and trapped, I don't think either of them would ever even think about anything involving restraints, degradation, humiliation. It's all very much about being excited and supportive and safe with each other. (I do have a fic in mind involving Hector taking charge and giving her orders in a sort of military vein, but it would be very much about removing that bad situation's power over her and making it a safe thing between them, and never about any real power play.)

O = Oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc.)

As evidenced in Prayers and Hellfire, Hector is an ENTHUSIASTIC giver right from the get-go. It's a big moment for him in that fic when he realizes that sex is powerful because it's a way that he can make the woman he loves feel incredibly good, and he absolutely loves to lose himself in that "sacred duty" in every way possible.

Karlach enjoys returning the favor but Hector is on another level with it. XD I don't think he's extraordinarily skilled at first (things go so well in Prayers and Hellfire less because he knows what he's doing and more because they're madly in love and Karlach is so excited to be getting anything after ten years), but he's a fast learner and takes direction very well.

P = Pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.)

Really depends on the night. Sometimes when they're both worn out or feeling particularly sentimental, it'll be a slow, drowsy, exploratory sort of process. But probably more often they're pretty intense; I'm not sure "rough" is quite the right word, but... "fierce"? Generally they just want each other real bad and don't see any point in holding back. :D

Q = Quickie (Their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.)

Once they're together in Act 2, they are definitely having sex a LOT when the occasion permits - but most of it is in camp and consequently has to be somewhat furtive. So they have no shortage of quick romps when a brief window of time emerges. :P As mentioned above, they both prefer when they can really get some privacy and take their time - but circumstances often don't permit that to be the case, so quickies are very much on the menu in between.

R = Risk (Are they game to experiment? Do they take risks? etc.)

Game? Yes. Do they? Not really. Again, as mentioned above, I don't see either of them as being incredibly imaginative in this regard. It's about the closeness in any form and they're less concerned about specifics.

(But Karlach literally just has to say the word on any idea she has and Hector is there for it. :D )

S = Stamina (How many rounds can they go for? How long do they last?)

Hehehe. Hector is a monk. XD His body is his weapon and his tool and he grew up in an enviroment dedicated to self-denial, self-control, discipline, and physical training. This man's stamina is legendary.

Unfortunately, as previously mentioned, most of the time they don't really have time to take full advantage of this since their time is usually a bit limited. But on the occasions when they can - such as the Act 3 sex scene - Hector definitely takes her for enough rounds that she's walking funny the next day. XD Karlach is suitably impressed, because her libido is such that it takes some doing to make her feel fully spent.

T = Toys (Do they own toys? Do they use them? On a partner or themselves?)

Hm.

As I discovered by accident while flycamming the Act 3 sex scene, Hector does enjoy butt stuff. XD So he might actually be down to get pegged. That said, whether it actually happens much, I don't know. I don't think I see them as using toys all that much, to be honest - not out of unwillingness but just because it doesn't come up.

U = Unfair (How much they like to tease)

Karlach likes teasing Hector a lot (as evidenced in Quiet Zone) because she likes seeing him get worked up and struggling to keep composure - and how fierce and intense he gets when it becomes too much to bear.

Hector is a little more direct, I think. When he's giving her pleasure, that's his primary focus and he's like a guided missile.

V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.)

As mentioned, a lot of their adventures are in camp, so there's a certain amount of emphasis on having to stay quiet. (It always amuses me when I read fics with secret trysts in camp where there's lots of moaning and crying out happening. That is no longer a secret tryst; those tents are canvas which is not known for its soundproofing capabilities. XD )

Hector is better at the quiet than Karlach is. He tends to get very focused and internalized during the whole experience and everything comes out in little intense whimpers rather than real loud noises most of the time. Karlach is much more vocal and has to put a significant amount of effort into not screaming loud enough to wake everyone up; she does a pretty good job most of the time but nevertheless everyone is fully aware of what is happening.

Post-game in Avernus Hector takes a few more levels in cleric and gets hold of the Silence spell which helps the situation. XD

W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character)

Following on from the above - there is a potential monk line which the player can get when sleeping with the drow prostitutes in Sharess's Caress: [MONK] "I stop breathing sometimes when I'm focused. Don't disrupt me, I'm in control."

This definitely happens to Hector at some points - sometimes when he's pleasuring Karlach or they're fucking, but most often when she's focusing on him for the moment. There's a hint of this in Quiet Zone:

It doesn’t take long before he’s hard as a rock in her hand, the heat of his skin against hers rivaling the sweltering Avernus air around them. The rest of his body, still trapped between her and the bookshelf, has gone limp; his weight sags back into her, his head rolling into the crook of her neck. His eyes are closed, lips slightly parted, focusing on her touch with absolute, intense concentration.

He doesn't quite reach the no-breathing point in that fic but in similar scenarios it can definitely happen, and it scares the shit out of Karlach the first time she notices it. (Hector doesn't think to warn her because I don't think he realizes it could happen. XD )

There'll be a fic about this at some point.

X = X-ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes)

Both of them are supremely fit people, although in different ways. Hector's body is all lean muscle, slender and quick, and he's considerably smaller than Karlach in bulk as well as in height. He starts the game in a lot of ways pretty unblemished; there are a few scars from his training but not many. However, he starts aquiring more as the game goes on, particularly a very heavy scar across his shoulder from the Myrkul fight which the bone chill effect prevented Shadowheart from healing before the scarring could take root.

He's well enough endowed but not dramatically so; everything about him is a testament to the phrase, "It's all about how you use it."

Karlach, by comparison, is much bigger and more visibly muscular, and her whole body is covered in scarring, tattoos, and the marks of the engine's functioning in her body. THe most striking thing about her when she's naked is that her whole body has the same subtle glowing effect that her visible chest does in game; her breasts and stomach and "intimate areas" all glow with the same effect that you get when putting your fingers over a flashlight.

Hector hates the engine being the reason for it but does think it makes her look even more beautiful.

Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?)

Karlach's is higher than Hector's definitely. Hector is almost always willing because his desire for her specifically is always present, but left to his own devices he could go long periods of time without really thinking about sex at all. He'll initiate sometimes but it's Karlach's drive that sets their pace more often.

Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)

See the aforementioned snugglefest. Usually they tend to wear each other out pretty hard so the post-game is just curling up very tight together and falling asleep in one of several positions - sometimes Hector gets spooned up against her, sometimes he falls asleep on her chest, or sometimes she'll roll over on top of him and go to sleep on him like a big warm blanket. XD

5. Do you respond to comments? Yes! I literally sit by my computer after i post waiting for them to come in bc i love attention.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? N/A. All my angst is in the beginning/middle. my endings are all happy so far.

(Although, I do have a bullet point in my fic ideas file that is a Haunting of Hill House rewrite but Autumn Court/Forest house, and if you've ever read the book, you know that calling the ending "angsty" would be an understatement)

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? So Reverie is very short and is sorta set after Elucien have already had their happy ending(in more ways than one ;) The ending of the Scenic Route is also happy and it took way more work to get there, so I'd say that one.

8. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I'm like the writing equivalent of a toddler right now--I'm still learning to write regular stuff haha. I want to write smut one day, but need to take my baby steps to get there. Even when i do, though i think it will not be as explicitly descriptive of the acts themselves, but more emotionally driven (I really like the style of the sex scenes in Song of Achilles if that gives you the vibe)

9. Do you write crossovers? I don't think i'm creative enough for that tbh

11. Have you ever co-written a fic before? I have not. I don't even know how that would work esp bc i am a control freak, but i'll never say never.

I have a handful of OTPs the primary one right now is obviously Elucien, but I have a special place in my heart for The Doctor and River Song(Doctor Who) and Dramione(who i never really shipped when reading the books, but this was the ship that got me into fanfiction and now i'm addicted)

13. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? So my Current WIP is already completely drafted, i just have to edit and post it, so i'm not worried. I do have an outline of a really long High King Lucien fic started that i worry i won't finish before their book comes out (and that once their book comes out i won't be motivated to write it any more, but we'll see)

14. What are your writing strengths? This is hard because i'm so new to writing, i feel like i don't have any strengths yet, but I'm gonna say dialogue, because it's what i enjoy writing the most. most of my first drafts are very dialogue driven and i fill in the story around the conversations

15. What are your writing weaknesses?  Internal monologues/explaining characters emotions. I tend to leave out details/explanations of a character's feelings because I know what they're feeling and i just expect the reader to inherently know everything that I know even though it's impossible.

16. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I love when people do this, but my spanish and french are both so rusty i don't feel confident enough to try. Maybe some latin in future works for spells and stuff, but in terms of dialogue, probably not.

17. First fandom you wrote for? Acotar! I only just started writing in June of this year, so i haven't had the chance to write for other fandoms yet, but i'd like to eventually.

18. Favorite fic you’ve written? The Scenic Route! i mean i only have two to choose from--and i have a soft spot for Reverie since it was the first fic i ever posted--but I've put a lot of time and love into The Scenic Route, and I'm excited to finish sharing it. ❤️
