Unrelated to anything else happening today, BB23 had one of my favorite casts of all time. Truly the largest number of people that I wanted to root for since BB17. Tiffany, Azah, Hannah, Claire, DX, Britini… we had them all in one season, we were blessed.

so final thoughts after watching the last few episodes of bb23

derek f saying he carried azah through the season like his ass wasn’t on that corner bed for majority of the season. AND she was never on the block until the end. like shuttt upppp

x, ky, and derek f’s mad at tiffany was fucking weird. sure, be disappointed. but they acted like she personally stomped on their dog

kyland is a petty loser and for the love of god, i wish he would shorten sentences sometimes

i don’t ever remember x or derek f saying they had a final 2 on day one. derek f was up in frenchie’s ass then😭

“Very frustrating in The BB house.” Is Honestly SUCH an arrangement of words that the tag needs sometimes. The tag is very quick to be judgmental and write off someone’s entire personhood based on how they’re playing the game. It’s a reality show at the end of the day. Some people are just not going to make palatable decisions, or have that likable personality onscreen (even during live feeds) or just. . will never anger or frustrate you sometimes. Some people are going to be less tolerable players to watch than others and that’s okay.

I remember when Azah got Hannah out, even though to me, it made perfect sense for Azah’s perspective; it was so startling how quick people were to attack her personally for her poor game move and evicting who is basically a fan favorite. This happens a lot. A lot of people are confused by the BB23 class being tight knit right after the game was over because of it.

I think we all got caught up in how fun it was to come into the tag and roast hgs every year and give them mean little nicknames, that some of us forgot that these are real people. They present the version of themselves that they deem the most tv-safe so we’ll never truly know how they act irl. They’re also in an environment with lights on 90% of the time, living with people they never met before, playing for money. All those things factor into how someone plays whether we like it or not.

There have been some people over the years who I’ve hated gameplay-wise but turned around and loved them post season. The stan wars blow my mind bc at the end of the day these are normal ass people living on a set playing silly little games every week. We don’t have to take it to a level where we’re condemning randos that we’ll probably never see again once the season is over.

The stakes aren’t high enough to genuinely write off hgs for game moves we don’t like bc it doesn’t actually reflect them completely. We don’t know them and at the end of the day, watching bb and hanging out in the tag is a hobby that /should/ feel fun.

Azah went 10 weeks un-nommed I feel like she is not going to get credit for how impressive that truly is.  I feel like a lot BB fans forgot that this show is still a social experiment at its core.

I’m not mad at Azah per sé but I’m mad that she had to bear the weight of being this season’s last hope of having a deserving black winner. Because by no means is what happened entirely her fault. It was a domino effect of multiple weeks coming and it’s heartbreaking.

Before that hoh I think we all knew Hannah was next no matter what if she didn’t win. Hearing Azah say they need to get X out gave the tiniest shred of hope that *maybe* there’d be a better outcome. And ky winning veto felt like *maybe* hope wasn’t lost yet.

But in the moment it felt like the worst betrayal because of that fear that something like this will never happen again. Or even not knowing when. It could be another 22 years before we get another black winner. A deserving one at that. The thought of our first being X, Ky, or DF… when better, more strategic, and loyal players within the cookout were right there? The weight of all that came down to Azah’s hoh and that’s not fair to her.

Azah genuinely is one of the kindest, loyalist, players that have graced this season and she was a joy to watch.
