Hi, I came to report to you that your ql music research is rubbing off on me 😅 I was watching ep 2 of Ploy's Yearbook (for Joong and Namtan 😍), when suddenly I recognized a piece of music!! But I couldn't place it, so I tried to remember which series have I watched so many times that I'm familiar with the music. I reached the tentative conclusion that it must be from SIMM or possibly from Hidden Agenda (but I definitely connected it to JoongDunk). Maybe I need to do a complete rewatch of both series to confirm, what a hardship 😂 I just wanted to tell you that maybe aside from being a JD vampire bl truther, this will be your other legacy

oh my god, that's amazing!!!!!! i LOVE to hear that!!!!! i'm actually planning on making a side blog focused on shared royalty free music in thdramas, but that's something that is earliest going to happen in the summer if not in the winter. i wanna work my way through some of my fave shows first, because those are the soundtracks i'm more likely to recognize and i just wanna have them on my google doc before i go put everything in tumblr posts (which is also gonna take forever bc my google doc is currently at 100 pages worth of entries sjkfkjsfdj)

was it by any chance desert caravan by ludvig moulin? i haven't watched ep2 yet (i was actually about to go watch it when your message came in and i couldn't help answering it first kjdkfdg), but i did see a clip of it earlier in jimmy's insta story and the scene had this music in the background. it has come up in episode 1 already as well. if it was this, then good job on connecting it to a joongdunk show because it actually has come up on hidden agenda a couple of times! i'm still missing the last 3 episodes on my music collection, but these are the time stamps so far:

BamBam’s Sour & Sweet (My thoughts) Album + MV

March 28th came and went, and suffice to say BamBam did deliver. The music video was as dramatic and symbolic as I’d hope it would be, and the visuals were top notch. I believe the music video’s premise was about how BamBam moonlights as a gentlemen/high class thief, but he’s unaware of that because the ‘sour’ side of himself is setting in due to having a dissociative identity disorder (like in the Kdrama Bad & Crazy), or he has an alter ego. So, he’s unaware of when he turns into his dark persona, and he probably runs away from it. As Carl Jung would say, BamBam’s sour side is his “shadow.”

***(The rest maybe TL;DR for some. You’ve been warned!)***

Moving on, I really did enjoy the album. I listened to it all the way through 3+ times, and I came to really like all the songs. But my all time faves were, “Feather”, “Wings”, “Take it Easy”, “Tippy Toe”, and “Ghost”.

“Let’s Dance” did grow on me in the end. But “Sour and Sweet” and “About You” are still having to take some getting used to. I don’t know why the title track isn’t quite a bop for me. But someone said it reminded them of the 80s, so it’ll eventually grow on me. It definitely doesn’t sound like “Slow Mo” or “Ribbon”, so I’m glad his singles don’t have a repetitive (similar) sound/melody. It’s a good thing.

Therefore, I believe the album speaks on different types of love. I believe it speaks on the kind of love my grandparents had. Their love was very old school, everlasting, fated, sour, and sweet. The kind of love 50s singers sing about. A Sunday kind of love.

The album represents how all love is both sour and sweet. It be self-love, familial love, romantic love, platonic love, and so on. It’s about falling in love and out of love with a person, but still staying committed to them.

In the end, I enjoyed the concept, MV, and album. But it didn’t feel like a full album. TBH, it felt like an 8 track album, but the tracks were all 2-minute previews. I’m still holding out for when 40-something year old BamBam releases those compilation albums and deluxe albums with the extended versions of all his tracks (including the instrumentals). Yet, if you like old school rnb with a dreamy twist, and you have a short attention span (or not), this album is for you. I rate it a 9/10. I genuinely did enjoy it.

(Jinyoung - Mom and Jay B - Dad made an appearance at his showcase. 🥰 🥰 🥰 I thought it was a sweet and touching moment. Although, I do wonder why it feels like Jay B hasn’t enlisted. Are they loosening up the restrictions for Kpop entertainers/celebs? Is there something I’m missing?)

The album might turn into a no-skip for me. It was easy listening.

Ahh! Green Requiem saying something like, "Why do I now feel like notes from Destati--which is Kingdom Hearts' "Darkness" song-- being in the Foretellers' theme was hinting that they were vessels of Darkness? (Because it was.)," is now making me feel and think so much.

#and given how much of the story shimomura has hinted at with the rest of her compositions i think he's right #like all of the xehanorts sharing a motif #or how in ddd the new xemnas arrangement suddenly lost its xehanort connection but suddenly had bits of terra's theme in it. which of #course matched what we now knew about terra #or how xion's theme has bits of kairi and sora's themes in it #and how vanitas' theme has some of sora roxas AND ventus' themes in there #and so. much. MORE! like this barely even scratches the surface #also how the way the score is written in ddd also shows that it's riku's game apparently #i have learned SO much by having just watched all of green requiem's videos about the music in the kh games #so far he's done kh1 com kh2 days bbs coded ddd 0.2 and everything in the chi saga #i think all of the xehanorts also have destati in their theme too (i think that's part of what i just learned). and that's part of their #said motif #and dearly beloved is. like. the light theme. and when you fight xion part of the music there is dearly beloved. to like show she really #wasn't evil #also i'm pretty sure green requiem is from project destati which explains a lot. he also made a remix of twister. like. so easily!#he made it. like. as a sort of break/hiatus thing for the chi video since it's pretty long. o.o.#man. i wish i could just do something like that for an intermission. lol
