It's so funny to me how the most common plot of all is the depraved monstrous creature supposedly incapable of love learning to love something, and idiots continue to insist that Sebastian doesn't learn to care about Ciel.

I know I keep dissing anime!Ciel for not being able to dress himself, like everytime dress up doll scenes come up I keep heckling at the screen, "YOURE 13!!! DRESS YOURSELF" being unable to tie his shoelaces and button his coat and brush his hair properly, sir please

(although I'm heckling to stop myself from delighting in the obvious sebaciel scene pff)

But then at a closer look at his clothes in Yana's art, goddamn I would NOT be able to put all that shit on in under an hour. I'm more empathetic to his plight, alla that needs 2 pairs of hands and an hour at most.

Although his everyday clothes are simpler. I raise my eyebrow at this, watching the video now, Ciel could put on his socks and coat by himself. I like to think Ciel actually knows how to dress himself in his everyday clothes but just indulges Sebastian.

On the more elaborate sets, thank goodness for Sebastian, to be able to do that everyday (I still think Seb just likes dressing Ciel because that coat is too simple). I mean, he can do all that at superhuman speeds but it feeds my heart that he's taking his time to make his master beautiful

I know there's this idea in fandom that Kabru is already in a place where he's able to easily shoulder others' burdens, or that maybe taking care of someone else would teach him how to better take of himself. I'm sure a huge part of that comes from his fairly utilitarian role in the main story (he doesn't really get the chance to be vulnerable or break down outside of maybe ch 76), but I just don't subscribe to that. If anything, I think it would be excessively easy for him to continue neglecting his own needs if it's for the sake of other people, especially for someone he cares about 👇

I think it's important that, in the end, Kabru isn't the right person to say what Mithrun needs to hear here. The only desires Kabru offers up to Mithrun are Kabru's own desires to help others with their needs; "I want you to live a life that isn't driven by revenge", "I want to help my friend by eating my fill" (as beautifully illustrated by @yuri-puppies here). Mithrun says, "I wanted to die and part of me still does", and Kabru thinks that this is an acceptable thing to feel so long as Mithrun is able to keep his promise and be useful to others. It takes Senshi offering the idea that scraps are useful no matter what that Mithrun is able to finally feel relief. Just look at the difference between,

which I think is a message Mithrun needed to hear as much as Kabru does. All this to say, I hope Kabru is able to get to the point one day where he feels safe and secure enough to put his own wants and needs first, even when it helps no one but himself

I had to rest during the winter break because i get hand/wrist pain from schoolwork (still waiting to see a doc for a diagnosis). It gets pretty severe where i can’t grip or feel certain fingers so i really need a break, but I couldn’t draw :( I ended up rewatching all my middle school favorite anime’s in bed tho lol… Ciel u are still my messy fav

Touch averse vs Touch allowed

"Don't presume to touch me!"

It's kind of comforting that as an abuse survivor, Ciel has someone he trusts enough to touch him in a familiar manner. Sebastian's presence in his life so incorporated that at this point in time he trusts his touch enough (or trusts the contract enough) to never hurt him. Finding reluctant comfort in the devil. (Until the end that is, but that's a different matter, and in fact makes this comfort many-layered and double-edged).

He falls asleep from exhaustion and the coolness of Sebastian's touch...

He's very visibly heightened and reliving traumatic experiences. Only his butler, the one who was there can hold him right now.

Ciel sees the darkness with his eyes wide open. He knows what Sebastian is upfront, he could trust that he couldn't trust him. He could trust where that trust's limit lies, that for as long as they are master and servant Sebastian wouldn't be so bold as to inflict harm on him (emerald witch arc aside, but I still think that shock was ultimately a good thing for the story).

He could trust in the contract. In Sebastian's touch. and I think that's one of the reasons why he's able to melt into it.

Through the years perhaps he's learned that he musn't fear the weapon in his own hand, to the point that even at his most vulnerable he would allow the contact, and no one else's.

One of the things I love about him, continuously learning and being proud of what he's learned and perfected. His ego actually seems earned now.

Ah. I hope he's enjoying the human world in this particular lifetime.

I hope Ciel has brought color into his days by giving him the daily challenge of Being Human.

That Butler: Learning

In Book of Circus, Sebastian didn't have any spare glove on hand, so he had to go without them after he 'got them a little dirty'.

But, he's learning and since then, he carried a pair of spare gloves with him, as evidenced in Book of Atlantic here...

And then, after Ciel scolded him for acting like a beast, he learned not to. All the way in GWA.

Ciel's words and actions shape Sebastian's. He's the reason why Sebastian is doing these things, including carrying around that physician book that he lent out to Sieglinde. I bet he started carrying that around after Ciel's asthma attack.

People usually overlook that Lied is a powerful demon even though he was one of the young kings during the harvest festival. Lied and Iruma one and yet only Iruma was put on a pedestal
