So, my children were challenging me to name Pokemon today and as I was doing my best (their standards are very high!!), my husband blurts out "Ambassador Seaweed." After I got done laughing so hard that I fell over, he then hits me with "So...when he says his own name, is it Byakuya doing a funny voice, or does he just say it in Byakuya's regular voice?" I replied that of course it's in Byakuya's regular voice, Byakuya would never do a funny voice.

Now, in the Halloween episode, Wakame Ambassador is very much played by Byakuya's voice actor, but they're also Doing A Bit based on the Renji-Byakuya fight. Then I remembered that the Ambassador also appears in BBS, and based on this video, he does very much just seem to just have Byakuya's voice.

This is honestly so upsetting.

Here's his anniversary unit in Bleach: Brave Souls! I'm of course Incredibly biased since his color scheme AND element there is purple, and Purple is my favorite. I had to crop this one a little because Tungle hates horizontal images but KLAB really went all out on his design! (My first unit to full 60 linkslots and my boy is max transed with 3 star SP)

She killed her boss (kinda) and spent seven years pretending to be him. Literally staged a phone conversation when a Karen asked for the manager to keep up the ruse. Locked a guy in an evil sci fi suspension drawer because he figured her out. After her redemption arc she still hijacked the train again

WELL. When the world was ending she stole a train from her boss (who was a horrible person) and left both her boss and her daughter to die. However she had to pretend her boss was still running the train. So she gaslit the entirety of humanity into thinking her boss was still alive and well and running the train.

She lied to the entire population of humanity for 7 years about the director of the train still being alive, forcibly removed someone from his home to solve a murder and then tried to dispose of him once he did, and is also like a super genius

Aizen Sosuke

On manipulation he says: "Adoration is a state furthest from understanding" and PROVES HIS POINT by ruthlessly using a benevolent image to climb ranks and earn undying loyalty all the while conducting murder and human experimentation. His base power is literally brainwashing. Has at least five hidden agendas at any given point but will NOT let anyone in on his ultimate goal -- that being to not only fistfight god, by Become one, and, in a way, he actually succeeds. Bonus points: can turn into a butterfly.

Is anyone else disappointed by the character choice for the BBS anniversary?

Like why Kenpachi and Gremmy? I just don’t think they’re big enough characters to warrant them being anniversary. The typically TYBW banner after the anniversary? Absolutely, they’d work perfectly there. But not anniversary. Like all of the other anniversary characters have made sense.

Ichigo? He’s the MC, he deserves all of the anni characters he gets

Ulquiorra? The Big Bad of the Hueco Mundo arc, who had a lot of build up

Byakuya? The main antagonist of the Soul Society arc, the first big arc of the series

Aizen? The Big Bad of like half the show, the most well known antagonist of the series

Uryu? One of the main six, with extra relevance due to TYBW’s return

White? Literally the reason Ichigo has powers, plus the first BBS version of White

But like Kenpachi might be a recurring character, but he never had any plot significance. I might be willing to accept him anyway, but not Gremmy. He was in the series for one fight and lost. He was powerful, but he was never relevant.

Like they look like great characters with great skills and game mechanics, but why did they go to them? Why not Yhwach, who had the 9 symbolism right there? Or Rukia who’s been deserving an anniversary character for years?

As a side note, does anyone miss when the anniversary characters had unique designs?

The Beyond Resurreccions, the Beyond Bankais, the Quincified looks? They were all unique and really felt like special characters.

But the TYBW characters are just getting boring for anniversary characters. I accepted last year because of the first appearance of White. But Kenpachi and Gremmy aren’t even new characters, they’re remakes of old characters.

This anniversary just feels very lackluster, and I wish this was a regular TYBW banner instead of an anniversary banner

Transcending units in BBS is damn expensive, I don't know how Aizen gets all the coins to do this.

"Director's Commentary":

Fun fact: BB was supposed to be finished 5 chapters ago. I only wanted to have about 30 chapters from Kaien's introduction with Ichigo to ending the Aizen threat. But uh, its kind of spiraled out of control... obviously. That's the joy of these types of muses. Problem is, it leaves me in tricky spots.

A major example being chapter 36 in progress: Ichigo's determining what to do with the fact he's secretly a Quincy. I think its quite obvious a massive blow-up is coming soon.

In general I admit that some plot lines have been dragging. I'm going to accelerate their progress and skip the minor details. Bright side: we'll get to see Ichigo's new (BB) sword at the end of this next chapter but I'll reserve its abilities for later.

⭐ - select a section they’ve been dying to talk about!

Honestly, I kinda of wanna talk about how the Zanpakutou rebellion arc will go in BB's post-Aizen victory. Kaien's back as a Lieutenant and he feels like he's corralling a bunch of cats at the 13th. Rukia's running around as his courier between divisions.

Ichigo shows up trying to figure out what the hell's going on with the zanpakutou. They just sorted out their Aizen problem, do they really need this happening right now? Ichigo asks what he can do to help, and something like this exchange happens:

"Help Rukia out. Beyond that, I need you to simply do what you do best." Kaien tells him, nose buried in casualty reports. "Run around, scream loudly and be a general pain in the proverbial to anyone who crosses my path?" Ichigo suggests sarcastically. Kaien shrugs, "I meant break shit, but sure, that works."

I'm still bothered by the fact that Aizen is smug in BBS (and even in the anime opening and ending) but has flat affect in TYBW.

Ranking main 4 bleach villains.

1.Kigo Ginjo

A big suprise I know but let me explain.When Kugo was first introduced we weren't sure if we could trust him but overtime some of us did.When he was shown as a villain I was suprised and a little sad cause I liked his and Ichigo's dynamic.He is a direct parallel to Ichigo and what could've happened if he chose the wrong path.His whole plan is also really well done.His design is also great,he got drip.I also love the scene in CFYOW where he chose to visit Ukitake's grave which meant he forgave him.I am sad that Ginjo is so underrated cause he deserves more appreciation.

2.Yhwach

Now I have not read the full manga I only saw the bits of it and read the novel in BBS.But Yhwach was there since the beginning as old man Zangetsu who used to be one of my favorites when I first started the anime.Yhwach never said he enjoys what he is doing and he believes that by erasing life and death he could create the perfect world.However Aizen pointed out in the manga that what he is trying to achieve is impossible and I agree.He also wants to free his father from his ashamed state.Other than the motives I also find him much more threatening than Aizen.Unless we are talking about monster Aizen.

3.Aizen

Please hear me out.Aizen is cool and all but the thing about him is that his motives are just not as much emotionally driven as the other two's.I like him still a lot.Second and third place could be switched.Also the intire thing with Momo is rather questionable so that is a big minus.He is still a powerful and badass villain.And when it comes to looks he is a 9/10.His dynamic with Urahara is the best pard of the story.And I love how at the end of the series he grew to respect Ichigo.

4.Tokinada

The biggest piece of human shit.Guy literally first broke all the bones of his assassins before killing them which is just way too cruel.He got really offensive when his five pointed out that "His sky" wasn't clear and killed her because she saw right through him.He created a child just to use it.Not to mention that in the end he ran off like a coward and got killed by random girl and he was laughing at his death because it was neither Shunsui nor Hisagi who killed him.He is a worthless piece of shit.But one good thing about him is his design and the fact that in the BBS he is voiced by a legend Kenjiro Tsuda who voices some of my favorite characters.

Ummm in terms of the bleach rpc one of the worst has gotta be the take that it's okay to take a canon character and make them 1000% different. Like taking a super sweet character in canon and making them a jilted asshole for no reason. Just make an OC at that point, bc canon characters are someone else's OC and it's (in my opinion) disrespectful not to portray them without even the core components that made them that character in the first place, because then that's just an OC with a canon faceclaim. Other bad takes for the rpc in general are ones justifying bigotry that aren't canon parts of a character (ie, if your muse isn't blatantly racist/homo/transphobic in canon I think you shouldn't hc they're those things, I end up questioning why do you want to write bigotry so bad? And in a space interacting directly with other people, many who are part of these marginalized communities??).

R.ukia... the fandom treats her like some flawless angel and sex icon and it's honestly gotten on my last nerve, I was playing one of the bbs substories abt r.ukia and r.enji's youth, and she literally calls him a stupid idiot and says he doesn't deserve to be in advanced classes but she does, like?? And that's how she treats her best friend at the time behind their back?? Like I don't care for the Shinigami in general so I tend not to hold on to info abt who they are but she is not the perfect angel people keep acting like she is and it's just annoying waifu worship at this point.

Mayuri. He's a genocidal genius, off-putting and mean, I'm literally so tired of people acting like he's secretly a sweet little kitten or something... like he has done some messed up shit and to act like he's a soft little baby or has some kind of deep remorse for many if ANY of his actions is a disrespect to his character. This could also be said about Urahara and Aizen... geniuses, powerful geniuses who have done some shitty and fucked up shit, but people treat them like "precious pretty little himbos".

I gotta be honest, Ichigo's whole "surprise, I'm ALSO that very specific thing!" Schtick. Like by the time we got to TYBW, were we REALLY surprised he was also part Quincy? Really guys? He's literally everything else under the sun, this is the formula and has been the whole time. Surprise, he's part shinigami, also he's a visored, and he can become a full hollow in a segunda etapa type transformation, also he's a fullbringer, but WAIT.......also a QUINCY??? WHAT??? Like please bffr rn 😭 I love Ichigo but I rly got sick of that by the time bleach finished
