Alright. Time for the next chapter of my week of catching up on Tumblr. This time on deck is Chapter 2 of BattleHeart, and this chapter focuses not on our main protagonist but a supporting protagonist who I honestly ended up coming up with... like as I was finishing Chapter 1. And honestly, Natsuki's been really fun to work on, and I want to try and make good use of her throughout the story.

This is also where I start showing that the various different fighters have their own unique things going on and showing that Kuro's got more under the hood than just raw power. But here you go, have fun with this one!

I drew me and Severus as Battleheart characters! I’m quite proud of this actually, I’m always trying to draw battleheart characters and I can never get it right. He’s a little wizard, and I’m a bard, for no particular reason. I was actually drawing some proper fan art for valentines, but I’ll post that on the 14th cause what is life without rigid structure xD

So I got rather too into this mobile game called Battleheart. Technically this is my B Team, being 10 levels lower than my A Team/level groundbreaker team, but they punch way above their weight class. Wynter, the aloof and persecuted witch; Robyn, the merchant’s daughter who ran away to become a rogue; Feung, wandering hero from an ancient monkish order*; and Edwardo, dispossessed prince and lovelorn bard.

*I’m p sure I misread the blurb as using they pronouns, but also Feung is nb now and no-one can stop me.

Alright, I promised I'd be back later to play more catch-up today. This is Chapter 1 of the shonen-inspired BattleHeart. It's a story that I've had thoughts on for a while, but it was only relatively recently that a solid idea actually came together. Personally, I tend to enjoy tournament arcs in anime, and one that really drove me to put pieces together is the Dark Tournament of YuYu Hakusho. That and some inspiration from the first fight scene of the Seinen manga Kurokami and, well, here we are!

arahana’s mom is still around btw, arahana just didnt rly know her. her name is arros. she was morgus’s first wife, who divorced him shortly after arahana & sonia (arahana’s sister) were born so arahana doesnt rly know anything about her. when arros did this she left the battleheart clan shortly after. that wholeeeee topic was completely off limits so arahana has nooo idea rly anything about her other than a few, small things

“How can you tell? There a Praxic Fire bumper sticker or something?”

“No, it’s the dings. Well, that and the style. Warlocks seem to like this chassis, and that crosshatch may as well say ‘My other ride is a nova bomb’ or something like that.”

“What about the dings, though?”

“Right, it’s the dings. See, Warlocks are always in a hurry to get someplace when they hear about some new weirdness to study or examine or take samples from, and I see ‘em handling their sparrows with more than the usual degree of carelessness—especially when dismounting. They just jump off, every damn time, almost don’t even bother cutting the throttle. So the sparrow goes for a slide, rolls, bumps into rocks, whatever—and you get the telltale dings.”

“That doesn’t really sound like a Warlock thing, though. I mean, I know this one Titan with a habit of slammer her fist down onto her moving sparrow to sort of force it to skid on the ground for extra braking when she drifts—”

“Yeah we all know Shruggernaut does that, you can stop bragging about hanging out together...”

“—and in my Hunter den I’m the only one whose sparrow hasn’t blown up at least once this week. So... even if this model is popular with the Warlocks, can you really be sure it belongs to one just because it’s more dinged up?”

“OK, well, also it does have a Praxic Fire bumper sticker on the rear stabilizer there, so...”

“Wait, they actually have bumper stickers?”
