today's work includes coming up with a recipe based on other people's recipes

Some results of my earlier adventures with natural dyes. These are dyed with blue elderberry; I had read how red and black elderberry are not very light- or colorfast, but I dyed these two or three months ago and they are doing well! Could be chance, but maybe blue elderberry is more colorfast?

I want to try changing the PH in the future for more colors. These are alum mordanted wool embroidery thread, one is undyed the other is white. In the first photo, the fibers that were originally white are on the top, undyed on the bottom, and the one weirdo off to the side was white and went in late when I decided there was more room in the jar.

No heat added to the dye bath to keep the colors brighter. I prepared it by crushing the berries, adding just enough water to cover the plant matter, leaving them overnight, crushing again and straining out the plant matter, then left the mordanted fibers in for three days; very simple. Washed thoroughly, dried in the window lol.

The white fibers became a sort of soft raspberry color, the undyed became a sort of rose gold. The weirdo is a sort of Pepto Bismal color? To be poetic

autistic people: how do you stay calm when overstimulated or having a meltdown? for example my dog barking, my girlfriend’s loud chewing, or loud noises or bright lights can be really overwhelming and can trigger anxiety/panic attacks or meltdowns. sometimes i get stressed and sometimes i get frustrated and angry and just feel trapped and like i need to scream and cry. what do you do in this scenario? ik i need to work on my patience but when i’m overwhelmed and don’t know what to do i just feel like i’m scrambling

Why does CZ need a monthly bath? Don’t cats clean themselves?

Cats DO clean themselves, however I’m slightly allergic to cats and my cat allergy gets a lot worse if the cat in question has a lot of loose fur and dandruff and other allergens! So CZ gets a bath once a month (with gentle, chemical free cat shampoo) and a good brushing so I can cuddle him without being a sneezing mess

Castle Rock S1 had a lot of potential that was unfortunately wasted, since it threw character arcs and themes out the door in favour of devotion to J.J. Abrams’ ~mystery box~

Castle Rock S2, while not without flaws, is thankfully much better overall, where you sometimes even forget about the supernatural parts because you’re so caught up in the character drama!

It also has the side effect of making Season 1 not only pointless but also nonsensical, to the point that I actually think its better if you don’t watch Season 1 at all because you’ll be less confused
