Tbh, I think that’s the real reason so much of fandom hates the Ric storyline, and not just Nightwing stans.

Because any other amnesia storyline - such as the many, many amnesia stories written in Batfandom over the years - REVOLVES around a character’s friends and families WORKING towards wanting that character to remember or at least want to know them or be around them....or else revolves around that character seeing them suffering or hurting because they’ve forgotten them and are trying to stay away for that character’s sake and not hold them back or anything.

And of course, either of those possibilities require the rest of the Batfamily putting Dick/Ric and how much he matters to these characters front and center, and as we’ve clearly established...fandom doesn’t like doing that, because Dick is boring, he’s too noble, too pure, too virtuous, too perfect, too wholesome, too sunshiney, too light-hearted, too happy, too non-traumatized....even, apparently, in stories where he very explicitly is none of those things and his being none of those things is now what’s being cited as the reason he sucks and needs to go away.

Switching back to the Batchannels, mostly I’m just sad that so many of the people who seem to have the worst opinions of Dick Grayson feel like they’ve never actually read any of his comics and are basing their opinions entirely on fanon.

Like, with how widely spread the view of Dick as ‘spoiled’ because he grew up with Bruce and Bruce’s money the longest, like......read even just five to ten issues of any of Dick’s comics from ANY continuity, and try telling me that this is a spoiled kid who relies on his rich daddy’s money instead of like.....getting regular nine to fives and paying his own way and making a point of not losing touch with his roots and staying grounded.

Or the whole thing with blaming Dick for the Spyral mission and ‘faking his death.’ I hardcore maintain there’s NO way the people who wrote fics where the family gives Dick even MORE grief for that than they already did in canon like....there’s no WAY most of those people actually READ Nightwing #30 and saw how that all played out.

Stuff like that.
