maybe this is kind of controversial of me to say but the issue with caped crusader and its take on catwoman wasn't portraying her as rich (though it could be argued that the class difference between bruce and selina makes for a more well-rounded exploration of gotham's sociopolitical consciousness). however due to the fact that this is technically a children's show i will cut some slack. what is unforgivable is how BTAS is routinely committed to blandifying selina and her motivations, even in the original show. her going from an animal activist who wants to protect cats to not caring about that at all. going from someone that bruce dated in civilian form and had a dream about MARRYING to someone whom he had little to no regard for as even a friend or partner. it was actually weird how s2 onwards the batcat dynamic started moving backwards when it started off on the strongest note.

caped crusader is welcome to work with early catwoman if they are actually committed to faithfully presenting what is in the text - which is that catwoman, a jewel thief, noted for being set apart from other early criminals for being someone who was not wholly evil or a killer, someone who was on occasion an ally to batman and saved young dick grayson from the joker, and someone who has periods of reformation where she does indeed help batman with his crimefighting. bruce's regard for selina is so high that outside of playing their silly cat-and-mouse game the man lets her get away!!! where is the onscreen representation for that? he does not care that she is a thief. he has never cared. he jumps at any opportunity to attempt to reform her because he wants to DATE her. catwoman, being a feminist, wants to hold onto her independence and steals to prove that she is batman's equal and can outsmart him...which she DOES on numerous occasions. it's a little insane how shows like batman '66 can handle portraying this early era of batcat better than some of the shows that come later on because it really isn't a difficult dynamic at all.
