Carnell Augustino Lake (July 15, 1967) is a former football player who was a safety in the NFL. He is a member of the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team. He was the cornerback’s coach for the UCLA Bruins under head coach Rick Neuheisel in 2009 before leaving after one season for family reasons. He was the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defensive backs coach until 2018.

He played linebacker for the UCLA Bruins (1985-88). He finished his college career with 45.5 tackles for loss and 25.5 sacks. Those totals, as of the 2016 season, are 1st and 4th in UCLA football history.

On January 15, 1989, Lake played in the East-West Shrine Game and was part of the West who lost 24–6 to the East. On January 21, 1989, he was part of Los Angeles Rams’ head coach John Robinson’s South team that defeated the North 13–12. He played safety in both games as multiple teams were interested in moving him to safety as he was considered to be too small to continue to play linebacker professionally

In the summer of 2009, he, along with former Steeler Greg Lloyd, was a coaching intern at the Philadelphia Eagles training camp at Lehigh University.

In June 2010, he was hired by Jerry Simon to be the assistant coach of the Marina High School boys’ basketball team.

On March 7, 2011, he was hired as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defensive backs coach.

He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, he was initiated into the Gamma Xi Chapter.

Boston Celtics Acquire Colton Iverson in 2013 Draft

On June 27th, 2013, the Indiana Pacers traded the draft rights of Colton Iverson to the Boston Celtics for cash considerations.

The summer of 2013 was a year of transformation for the Boston Celtics. Head coach Doc Rivers departed for the Los Angeles Clippers. Two days later, the Celtics would continue to shake up its core. During the draft, the Celtics agreed to trade veteran stars Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to the Brooklyn Nets.

In the draft, Boston got bigger. In the first round, the Celtics drafted 6-11 perimeter threat Kelly Olynyk. In the second round, Boston bought the 53rd pick in the draft from the Indiana Pacers, and selected Colorado State center Colton Iverson.

Standing seven-foot tall, Iverson played one year at Colorado State averaging 14.2 PPG and 9.8 RPG while shooting 59.6% from the field. Prior to Colorado State, Iverson spent three years at the University of Minnesota before transferring while in search of a featured role. The bet paid off as the big man earned first team All-Mountain West during the 2012-13 college season.

After being drafted, Iverson joined the Celtics' 2013 Summer League entry in Orlando. The seven-footer appeared in five contests and compiled 5.0 PPG and 5.4 RPG in 16.7 MPG.

Though Iverson had hopes of making the team, he never joined Boston for training camp. Iverson signed a deal with Besiktas of the Turkish Basketball League.

Iverson rejoined the Celtics for 2014 Summer League in Orlando. He had hopes of making the team's regular season roster heading into the 2014-15 season. The big man appeared in five summer league games, amassing 6.4 PPG on 65% from the field, 2.4 RPG and 0.6 BPG in 15.8 MPG. After Summer League, Iverson signed a one-year deal with Spanish basketball team Baskonia.

Going into the summer of 2015, Iverson had plans to rejoin the Celtics again for Summer League. However, he soon realized a limited chance of making the roster and signed a deal overseas with Pinar Karsiyaka of the Turkish Basketball League.

In the summer of 2016, the Celtics renounced their rights to Iverson, allowing the big man to pursue other opportunities in the NBA. 24 years old when he was drafted, Iverson was no longer a spring chicken at the age of 27. Opportunities to make an NBA team was a fleeting thought.

Iverson never played in the NBA after his rights were renounced. He played professionally in Israel, Russia and New Zealand among other places.

"I think my best basketball is playing five-on-five; so if I can get in, get rebounds, get stops, set screens, get in the pick-and-roll -- that's what a lot of the NBA is nowadays, pick-and-roll, and that's my strength. Just do the little things and show the team that I'm ready to play right away."

On his plans to stay with Boston rather than go overseas:

"The Boston Celtics drafted me and I have every intention of playing with them next year."

On his decision to transfer and the impact it had on his career:

"I wouldn't be [drafted] right now if I didn't make that decision to transfer. I improved a lot in the season off, did everything I needed to work on in my game, and you could see my growth my senior year. It definitely paid off, I got drafted and I'm looking forward to a long NBA career." "I knew it was a risk -- high-risk, high-reward situation. Most people were definitely saying, 'You're crazy. What are you doing?' Now that I'm here, everyone's saying they didn't say it."

On not getting to learn from veteran Kevin Garnett who was traded to the Brooklyn Nets on the same day Iverson was drafted:

"Now that I'm here, I don't look up to anyone really," said Iverson, showing a bit of that confidence and toughness. "It's like, 'I'm going against you; let's go.' It would have been great to have him and learn from him, but moves happen."

On not being able to choose his jersey number 45:

"I guess if you can't get your number, you've got to go with something random. There really is nothing left. Thirty-seven seemed like a pretty unique number. I kind of liked it."

"Colton is a player that we were excited by in the draft and had him ranked much higher than he ended up going. We were really fortunate to acquire a second-round pick to get Colton. "Colton is a kid that we've watched since his freshman year of college at the University of Minnesota. We loved his intensity from Day 1 and identified him as someone that we needed to keep a real close eye on."

On Iverson's work ethic:

"When he transferred to Colorado State, you could see how his work ethic and intensity continued, his confidence grew with opportunities. [Iverson was] one of the leading rebounders in the country. You know, for a guy to rebound at the level that he rebounded, it takes a lot of hard work and a lot of effort. He's put a lot of work into his body and he's gotten much stronger. And [he] just has a great intensity about him."

"During the season, maybe even before I even talked to Colton or his family, I spoke with the people in Boston, and they said they liked Colton back then. Celtics director of player personnel] Austin Ainge said all along that he really believes Colton is an NBA player. The USA Olympic selection committee created a media frenzy when they decided to leave Caitlin Clark off the national team for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The move to keep one of the biggest star athletes on the planet back at home has been heavily criticized across sports media. "This is about what I will personally label the idiocy of Team USA women's basketball. How dare you make this decision. It's stupid," said Stephen A. Smith during a rant on his ESPN show First Take.

The WNBA is relying on the popularity of Clark and her draft classmate Angel Reese to continue to build the league's brand, but the Olympics is not the WNBA, and a lot is already being asked of the two. The Olympics is a big enough event that sells itself, and there is no better time to heighten the stock of other players not named Clark or Reese. If Clark were on the team, it would become all about her instead of how dominant the US women's basketball team is. The WNBA All-Star game has a direct effect on the league, and it will now be that much more interesting with Clark being left off the national team. Clark and Reese will team up for the first time and have the opportunity to try to beat the players who will be representing the country. The two playing together would already have been a monumental moment, and with them facing the Olympians, the game now has a chance to be the most competitive and entertaining All-Star game in all of sports. The name that has been thrown around as to who Clark could have potentially replaced on the roster is Diana Taurasi. She leads, she makes everyone around her better, and she makes it fun but competitive, and she can try to get the other great players off their game by talking trash," said USA basketball assistant and Sparks' head coach Curt Miller. Taurasi is fourth all-time in Olympic scoring and second all-time on the FIBA basketball scoring list. Leaving a player of her status off the team would be like leaving LeBron James off the men's team due to his older age. No one would argue James should not make the roster because they know the value of his leadership, and when the most accomplished player sets the example, everyone else follows. "It's the things that she's willing to do when other people aren't around; just day after day, her commitment to her craft is second to none," said Mercury head coach Nate Tibbetts of Taurasi. "The shooting pre and post-practice, the 10,000-hour rule, just doing things over and over that is going to help perfect your craft." Even Caitlin Clark would probably agree that Diana Taurasi should make the squad ahead of her, and she simply is not at the level yet to take any of the other players' spots. Ulrich Alexander Fox (July 24, 1969) known as Rick Fox is a Canadian-Bahamian former basketball player, actor, businessman, and former esports franchise, owner. He played in the National Basketball Association for the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers and played college basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels. He was the owner of the esports franchise Echo Fox until he departed from the franchise in October 2019.

While attending the University of North Carolina, he earned a BS in Radio, Television, and Motion Pictures.

He has an extensive acting career appearing in both television and movies. His acting credits have included roles in Oz, He Got Game, One Tree Hill, Ugly Betty, The Game, Meet the Browns, Melrose Place, Mr. Box Office, Sin City Saints, Krystal, Sharknado, Greenleaf, Morning Show Mysteries, and All Rise.

He was born in Toronto, the son of Dianne Gerace, who was an Olympic high jumper and women’s pentathlete, and Ulrich Fox. His father is Bahamian and his mother is Canadian of Italian and Scottish descent. His family moved to his father’s native Bahamas when he was young. He attended Kingsway Academy in Nassau. Despite never playing organized ball before, he went to a summer camp and became a member of the high school’s basketball team, the “Saints”. He played high school basketball in Warsaw, Indiana where he trained to excel. After two seasons (1984–1986) at Warsaw, he was projected to have a very successful senior season. Just before his senior season, the Indiana High School Athletic Association ruled that he had no more high school eligibility left (due to completing eight semesters between the Bahamas and Indiana) and was not allowed to participate in any further IHSAA games. Despite not playing his senior season, he was voted onto the Indiana All-Star team. He then went on to star collegiately at the University of North Carolina where his highlights began his professional basketball career.

kyla talks about the season 3 trailer time... 

okay, let’s go. i just made a smaller post about the two things in the instagram trailer that i didn’t see in the main one, but if i missed something, i apologize in advance haha. 

i went through literally the whole thing- just less intensely than the season 2 trailer when i wrote it down the other day. still can’t believe we actually got the trailer today lowkey... 

i guess i’ll go in chronological order bc idk how best to go about this

ej picks up gina last (presumably with ashlyn, but who knows), and he’s driving their little group (carlos, kourtney, gina, ashlyn, and ej himself), in his little blue car. different car than season 1, but y’know. changed locations so they needed a new vehicle for him. it makes sense. 

ej’s so excited to take everyone to camp because it means a lot to him (instagram trailer) and like- love and friendship, go wildcats, etc. everyone else in that car is excited to go to camp because there’s a secret celebrity. who we already know is corbin bleu. 

when they all walk into camp and they blur that section on the side... i know that’s the pool area, and i’m going to go ahead and assume it’s so we don’t know there is a pool so we don’t conflate nini being in front of a pool with nini being at camp (nini’s definitely at camp in that shot where she’s in front of the pool, it’s definitely the same pool). they don’t want us to know she’s visiting. mark my words- she will. 

it’s VERY interesting that they frame maddox’s greeting everyone with the clip of ricky looking with interest at someone (or something i suppose)... and the shot of maddox that comes before the shot of ricky is from a different day than the “welcome folks” voiceover is from... ricky’s blue shirt in this shot is from episode 2 i’m pretty sure, idk about saylor’s dark grey shirt with the hot pink undershirt yet. maybe they’ll be from the same moment, but really- we don’t know. it’s just interesting that they’re cut together there, even if it’s not the same scene. might be, might not be.

and then we get maddox where her dialogue is actually from. episode 1, collecting phones, snacks, and electronics. maddox’s badge labels her a CIT and not a counselor. kourtney suffers having to give up her phone, which is apparently named sasha. (i would not be surprised if carlos turns in a phone but also brings a secret phone, i’m shocked the show would give up the facetime call mechanic, but at a summer camp it does make sense.)

they introduce corbin and frozen, we’ve all seen the sneak peek, this is a shorter section of that from episode 1. i don’t think i need to say anything there.

we see gina dancing on stage in a gold outfit- that should be fun

nini shows up at miss jenn’s door saying “surprise”- i know it’s 100% miss jenn by her pink sweater. she’s got a parasol and a massive sunhat. as a side note, her outfits in the trailer are way more nini than that solo promo photo which i appreciate. 

more on stage dancing, this time featuring corbin and people in gold and white basketball uniforms. my guess? showing off for his glory days in hsm. 

ej with gina from episode 1 when they’re arriving at camp- “best summer ever”. this boy is so excited and i love that for him truly. 

ricky throwing his arms up standing on some stumps on the edge of a cliff, overlooking what i’d assume is meant to be los angeles, (camp’s in california, but we don’t know where in california), standing next to big red’s orange car. (lowkey very curious about all this- but i think he’s likely going to sing a solo out here, just a matter of what the song is)

the summer camp car crew in the car- doing carpool karaoke to what time is it. shocker. then it turns to them taking selfies in front of the camp shallow lake sign. 

we’re 47 seconds in now, gina’s delivering a talking head. “it’s my first camp”- 

transitions to her in the cabin with ashlyn and kourtney also in episode 1, “should we spread out our bed assignments or do the new girl cluster”. (gina’s both super familiar with being new to things/places, and has never been to camp. shall be an interesting mix of feelings there). 

“my first boyfriend”-

transitions to her and ej on day 1, he kisses her, and presumably goes off to do counselor stuff (side note: we’ve only ever had a kiss in a trailer and it was between ej and nini in season 1. rini didn’t get one in either season, and neither has any other couple), carlos says “it’s just hitting me now that you two are gonna be a thing all summer”, he looks disgusted, gina looks flustered and all cutesy. it’s her first boyfriend. (i honestly don’t blame people for thinking this is not actually a good sign for them. it’s lowkey giving ‘i’m never breaking up with nini ever again’, rip rini)

i would like to start out by calling bs on that, but oh well. let’s continue... it shows gina auditionin on stage from episode 2. she looks happy and cute. 

okay- out of the talking head segment. we get the exterior of ‘the barn’ established 1978. so not just a family owned theatre camp, but one that’s been around a good while. 

everyone comes in, val announces “it’s time to introduce you to, your director”... the camera focuses on carlos, kourtney, gina, and ashlyn

val finishes her line- “ej caswell!” EJ IS DIRECTING FROZEN. he looks nervous and excited, the campers don’t visually react a ton besides gina who looks happy for him as she claps a little and ashlyn seems to start to clap too. (honestly- this might be the biggest reveal of the whole trailer i’m ngl. or at least the one with the most implications for the greater storyline. like there were other things that were definitely surprises, but didn’t have the same weight on the bigger story as a whole.) i have a LOT of thoughts here, we can talk about it later in another post if y’all would like. only one of which is the fact that that’s DEFINITELY a conflict of interest when he’s making casting decisions. 

scene changes to another episode, maybe episode 3 or 4? idk. gina’s in a red top and a red and white headband and ej’s wearing a deep blue camo athletic hoodie. ej: “just freaking out a little bit”, gina looks at him awestruck and idk if she’s concerned, confused, scared, or all of the above. 

shift to carlos and the others (ej, gina, ashlyn, kourtney) around a campfire from that same camo hoodie episode. ej is holding a guitar. YEAH- EJ. is playing the guitar.  carlos says “shake that money maker caswell”. kourtney visibly shimmies, carlos sort of does. (this was certainly a moment.)

we hear start the party (from camp rock) start to play in the background, as ricky dances with an air guitar type of move on that cliff overlooking la from before. i think he’s doing a solo out there, what it is, goodness knows. but yeah. 

we see jett for the first time, singing something holding a script in the barn in front of a little wooden table.

corbin basketball number returns.

carlos is steaming his vocal chords in the cabin with ricky. this whole scene with carlos and ricky is from episode 2. carlos: “i cannot focus on anything but auditions right now” ricky: “what are the two main guys’ names in frozen again?” carlos looks at him judgmentally, bc how the heck... disney- ricky like everyone else would’ve been inundated with frozen, i’m sorry this is just unrealistic. ricky: “one is... i wanna say... gary?” carlos, shaking his head: “none of them are gary...” ricky looks sort of worn out, laying back on the bed. carlos: “you can’t just zefron your way through auditions this time” 

it seems he takes this to heart, given in the next shot he’s on stage auditioning in like- a snow suit i’d call it. some have said perhaps he’s channelling kristoff. idek what i’d say. then we see visuals of kourtney, carlos, then ashlyn, auditioning, like we saw gina doing earlier. this is all episode 2, like i said before. they’re probably going to show the kids all singing bits from the same song, like montage style similar to belle. 

then we see nini again- playing her guitar this time. i’m pretty sure this is the same outfit from the pool clip we see later, but who knows. the v.o. is done by marvin, nini’s family friend, who says “i promise you, the best is yet to come”. he finishes the quote on screen, talking to nini.

then it changes to ashlyn, gina, and kourtney hugging in their cabin on day 1, more car gang carpool karaoke vibes, then gina dancing on stage in the gold (or green, but it’s shiny) outfit again. suffice it to say gina’s dancing a lot- good for her, bc that’s where she shines. 

we change to ashlyn and kourtney saying “scream!” excitedly. from the glimpse at channing’s yellow shirt, we know this is from the episode titled “no drama,” from the corbin still, from the glimpse at ricky’s blue and orange shirt behind the girls, we know it’s the same episode as the gina and ricky giggling and ej potentially being jealous scene.

then we get jojo siwa aka madison with maddox at the camp prom! this is from the aptly titled episode, camp prom. seventies themed dance. we see madison and maddox slow dancing together in the middle of the room, and for y’all who love seb and seblos, he and carlos are singing with one other person on the stage in the back if you look closely. madison says “sup wildcats” in the close up of her and maddox coming in, and then the image changes to carlos looking super excited. it’s definitely from the same episode from his outfit, but idk why he’s so thrilled to see maddox’s love interest. i’m sure we’ll find out later, otherwise it could be a misleading editing choice. 

corbin in his black jacket comes into the barn trailed by channing in the yellow shirt. this is from the ‘no drama’ episode, but i’ll bet this is what they’re pretending carlos is gasping about

nini’s voice over starts over the last clip, but now we see her talking to miss jenn (from the scene i mentioned towards the beginning, her outfit is the same and again we can see miss jenn’s pink sweater) nini: “it feels like these last few years have been leading up to something big...” we see miss jenn on screen smiling at her as she talks. 

transition back to camp, ej talking to gina in episode 1 in the evening, it’s dark, he’s in the jacket from the sneak peak, “nothing is gonna ruin our perfect summer together”. this is intercut with a visual of gina and ricky fussing over a piece of notebook paper gina steals from him and he tries to steal back, they’re giggling and having a good time, but the focus quickly shifts onto ej who is very much noticing and does not look at all pleased. jealousy... could be interesting. (this is from the episode “no drama”). tbh even just the quote itself doesn’t bode well, again if we look at it next to ‘i’m never breaking up with nini ever again’, and the fact that their sweet moments in the trailer are all pretty much from the one first episode. but i mean time will tell... 

intros of notable guests (aka corbin bleu, jojo siwa (as madison), jesse tyler ferguson (as marvin), and meg donnelly, listed as “zombies star, meg donnelly” (as val), and then “and our wildcats”. 

we see the earlier campfire scene, with carlos, ashlyn, kourtney, and gina wrapped up in blankets, then- gina and kourtney together from “no drama” in gina’s red floral dress, they seem happy, ej giving an auditioner a thumbs up in episode 2 (could be gina or ashlyn, or a particularly nervous auditioner, though he looks fond, so idk)

then a quick moment of ricky in his snow suit (presumably watching someone audition, a bit awestruck)

nini at the POOL- aka nini at CAMP. (my rini heart was lighting up when i saw nini at the pool... especially bc it looks like that might be the scene with her guitar... that pool is DEFINITELY at camp, particularly bc they went out of their way to blur the pool at camp when the group was walking in. ricky and nini proper goodbye moment- perhaps featuring nini playing him the song she wrote or them singing some sort of duet...  their last goodbye? we shall see.)

ashlyn, in the girls cabin in pajamas, morning of episode 2. “one could say the stakes have never been higher”

then we get some clips quickly flashing by, maddox with her polaroid camera, seemingly taking a photo of a posing ashlyn, jett winning the color sports day thing and raising a golden oar over his head, nini blowing a kiss and waving as she leaves presumably also miss jenn’s house, a spotlight shining on miss jenn as she stands presumably in camp spinning around, 

camera back on ashlyn but a wider shot, we see gina making her bed maybe, and kourtney under on her bunk as ashlyn sits atop hers, hand raised, “and one will- the stakes have never been higher”

a few quick notes, but i’ll talk more later if anyone’s curious about anything

i think they’re purposely hiding something about ricky’s storyline this season. what that is- no idea. but they definitely are. he doesn’t have enough screen time in this trailer for him being first billed and being literally front and center on the poster. (maybe he’s the bi character, but it could also easily be something else entirely.) i just know they’re trying to avoid telling us something, but i have no clue what that could be. if anyone has ideas- feel free to pop in my askbox... 

madison (jojo siwa’s character) and maddox seem to be romantically involved which is fantastic to see. i’m curious to see if maddox is the promised bi character or if maddox is out however she identifies, and leads someone else to sort of... go on that journey. i do hope it’s the latter and i think it would be fun if it were ashlyn. 

jesse who plays marvin said on his instagram story he’s only in the season for about 7 minutes. obviously this is an estimate on his part, but it’s something interesting to think about in terms of nini’s screentime and what her story looks like. he also said he shot his stuff seven months ago, so like- the VERY beginning of january probably, maybe even in december. so olivia was definitely taping her stuff separately due to her schedule... at least separate from the main cast, bc obviously she shot with kate and jesse, and maybe some others individually, we don’t know yet.

Los Angeles Lakers Acquire Rights to former ABA Star Bo Lamar from Detroit

On October 20th, 1976, the Detroit Pistons traded the draft rights of guard Bo Lamar to the Los Angeles Lakers for a 1978 second round draft pick (Lew Massey).

*In all reports about the trade, Lamar’s drafting rights were dealt to the Lakers for “future draft considerations” or a “future draft choice.”

Back in 1976, the Los Angeles Lakers were in need of guard help and they went to the ABA. That form of help came through the signing of guard Dwight “Bo” Lamar. A former college star, Lamar led the nation in scoring in 1973 at Southwestern Louisiana University. One of the quickest players in basketball, Lamar went on to be drafted in the third round of the 1973 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. He was also taken first overall in the ABA Draft by the San Diego Conquistadors.

In San Diego, he averaged over 20 points a night for two seasons, before the franchise — later named the Sails — folded early in his third season. He joined the Indiana Pacers of the ABA for 35 games before he was cut due to a beef with coach Bobby “Slick” Leonard.

The incident damaged Lamar’s reputation in the sport. He couldn’t find an interested party including the Pistons who owned his NBA rights. Eventually, Lamar found a lifeline in Lakers assistant coach Stan Albeck. Lamar’s former coach at San Diego, Albeck convinced Lakers head coach Jerry West to acquire the speedy guard.

They signed Lamar to a one-year contract right before the start of the 1976-77 NBA season. Lamar’s draft rights were owned by the Pistons who selected the guard 44th overall in the 1973 NBA Draft. To sign Lamar, the Lakers and Pistons agreed on a trade. Though all reports listed Detroit’s compensation in the deal as “future considerations” or a “future draft choice,” it’s unclear what the stipulations were in terms of what Detroit received.

Los Angeles began the 1976-77 season at 8-8. The team’s play would improve as they won 25 of their next 33 games. Regular season MVP Kareem Abdul-Jabbar did the heavy lifting for a Lakers team that only had three players with double figure scoring averages. Los Angeles had the best record in the NBA at 53-29. Lamar was a backup guard for this Lakers squad and appeared in 71 games. He averaged 7.1 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 2.5 APG and 0.8 SPG in 16.4 MPG.

In the playoffs, the Lakers matched up with the Golden State Warriors in the Conference Semifinals. The series opener saw Warriors forward Rick Barry go for 40 points. Still, Abdul-Jabbar had 12 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter as Los Angeles prevailed 115-106.

The Lakers center continued his dominance with a 40-point, 19-rebound, nine-block masterpiece in a Game Two 95-86 Lakers win. The Warriors won Game Three 109-105. They trailed the Lakers by double digits in the first quarter but stormed back in the second quarter. They took control of the game in the fourth when reserve guard Charles Johnson scored 16 points in the final stanza to lead the Warriors’ effort.

In the fourth game, the Warriors built an 18-point lead after three quarters and led by as much as 22 points in a 114-103 victory. Abdul-Jabbar carried his team in the fifth game, going for 45 points and 18 rebounds in a 112-105 Lakers win.

Facing elimination, the Warriors trailed early 17-3. They bounced back and outscored the Lakers 31-5 through the remainder of the first quarter. Barry (27 points) and Jamaal Wilkes (20 points) led Golden State to a 115-106 win despite 43 points and 20 rebounds from Abdul-Jabbar.

In the seventh and final game, the Warriors jumped out to an early lead. They led by 14 points, but the Lakers brought Lamar into the game off the bench and he provided a spark. The guard scored 10 points in a 10-minute stretch in the second quarter that allowed the Lakers to take the lead. That stretch propelled the team to a 97-84 win and allowed them to advance to the Conference Finals. Lamar played in six of the seven games and managed 5.2 PPG, 0.8 RPG and 1.8 APG in 12.8 MPG.

The Lakers took on the Portland Trail Blazers in the Conference Finals. Maurice Lucas had 28 points and 15 caroms in Game One. Portland used a balanced attack to win in the first game 121-109. The second game saw reserve Herm Gilliam contribute 14 points in the fourth quarter. Abdul-Jabbar (40 points and 17 rebounds) missed a shot with five seconds left as Portland took a 2-0 series lead with a 99-97 win.

Game Three saw Portland’s star big men Bill Walton and Lucas rack up 20-10 games as the Blazers went up 3-0 with a 102-97 victory. Lucas had 26 points and 12 rebounds to lead Portland to their fourth consecutive win over the Lakers, 105-101. The loss eliminated the Lakers. Lamar was non-existent in the Conference Finals, scoring just two points in 32 minutes. He shot 8.3% from the field in the four games.

Heading into the next season, the Lakers drafted point guards Brad Davis and Norm Nixon in the first round of the 1977 NBA Draft, and traded for guard Ernie DiGregorio from Buffalo. Lamar did play in Summer League with the Lakers, but he was the odd man out and was waived by the Lakers right before the start of the team’s 1977 training camp.

From reports about the Lamar deal, the Lakers sent “future considerations” to Detroit. It turns out those future considerations were a 1978 second round draft pick that was conditional (via the Long Beach Independent):

"The Lakers insisted they had the right to nullify the deal if Bo [Lamar] did not pan out by Dec. 15.”

That likely means that the Lakers would not have to give up the second round pick if Lamar was waived before December 15. Since Lamar lasted the entire season, the pick was conveyed to the Pistons.

Detroit made a trade in November of 1977 with the Buffalo Braves involving players John Shumate, Gus Gerard and Marvin Barnes. In the deal, the Pistons sent a second round pick from the Lakers (from the Lamar deal) to Buffalo. Seven months later, the Lakers dealt forward Tom Abernethy to Buffalo for that same second round pick right before the 1978 draft. The Lakers selected forward-guard Lew Massey with the 38th pick, meaning that Los Angeles ended up retrieving that pick from the Lamar deal.
