alright i gotta say.....idk how they did it but the writers managed to make rina rootable for me again!!!

i really liked them in s1 but fell off them for reasons listed in my other hsmtmts posts on my blog and when the trailer for s4 aired i was really scared rina would be just an overuse of annoying tropes instead of actual growth and cuteness that you can't help but root for

but happily, i was wrong! i was reminded on why i liked them so much in s1 and why i was rooting for them before i got on the portwell train

speaking of, i will always love portwell, and i will always mourn what couldve been with them, especially in s3 (s3 was really frustrating to watch as a portwell fan...) but im really happy we got some legit closure on that relationship with both gina and ej AND its very clear they still care about each other :)))

so yeah, s4 was honestly a lot better than s3 and i like both rina and portwell now and just ahskjdfhaskldfds i'm gonna miss this show

thoughts on the hsmtmts final season trailer?

Well anon, I think the trailer and the just released synopsis and photos for the first 6 eps look pretty good and I'm cautiously optimistic that the show will maintain the quality of S3 and if we're very lucky it may have some moments that come close to the excellence of S1.

I wish Disney would stick to the status quo and release the final eps weekly but it seems that their MO is now to burn off seasons of shows they've cancelled or have given up on (I wonder if they regret their decision with it likely that the actors and directors strike will last for many months). I'll be away from Meta Manor for a while so I don't know when I'll have time to watch S4; I won't do ep by ep reviews but I may do a season review in a few weeks. That being said, here are the main points I'll be grading S4 on, in no particular order:

Rina: I've never been a Rina shipper but I've long said that Rina's fate is inextricably tied with the show. So I want a great season for them, no pointless breakups, no pointless drama. Now in real life with Ricky graduating they wouldn't last but Tim needs to drop the realism and have a nice unambiguous Rina endgame. I'm hopeful that Gina's acting career plot will allow her to be with Ricky even after he graduates.

Big 3 Cameos: At least one of Zac, Vanessa, or Ashley must appear on screen for at least one scene or else the OG cast plot will be pointless. Especially since in universe they're doing a HSM 4 which Disney would not have green lit without at least one of the Big 3 starring. And I won't accept some too clever by half bullshit like Drew Seely shows up as Troy.

LGBTQ Rep: HSMTMTS has made huge strides with lgbtq rep on disney and I hope they can continue to make history in this final season.

Series Coherence: I think looking back that S2 will be the breaking point for a lot of future viewers who will give up after what turned out to be the longest and the worst season. The show isn't very coherent and I hope that S4 can meaningfully connect with S1 and we have more focus on the epic highs and lows of high school musical theatre. Enjoy the final season everyone. We're in the endgame now, wildcats.

from what i remember every time tim posts something cryptic on his ig whether it be a story or an actual post it means sometbing hsmtmts related is so coming . pretty sure he’s done the whole deleting it after too thing lol. idk if it’ll be the trailer but something is definitely coming !!

Totally forgot about this is the chaos of the new trailer but you were right!! I loved the trailer and I’m honestly so proud that it’s doing so well on YouTube. Surpassing the s2 and s3 trailer and almost about to reach the views of season 1. The cast deserves all the love in the last season!

What are your thoughts on when we’ll get a release date or a trailer? I was so convinced they’ll release it in July like last year but now I’m afraid that ship has sailed 😭

Hi Anon! I have a couple other anon requests I’ll get to tomorrow, but I wanted to make sure I got this one answered today BECAUSE I think we are getting info tomorrow.

Last year on the exact same day, Disney+ gave a bunch of announcements for future shows in the series (as a part of National Streaming Day). This included HSMTMTS have Corbin Bleu in s3 and the renewal of s4. Well, guess what day tomorrow is? 😁 and there is a tik toker @abbzbon who will be doing “flows” all day of different shows and what shows to watch on Disney+ if you watch Hulu and vice versa. I think we will get info there and/or on YouTube when they drop the video on show announcements. I don’t see them doing any more than a sneak peek at a scene (my guess is the principal announcing the play will be HSM4) and a release date.

If this is the case, I feel like we can expect the same timeline as last year where we get the first trailer mid-late June and the first episode late July… which I agree kind of sucks.

HOWEVER, we know this season is probably following the pattern of previous seasons (because it’s been revealed there will be a Halloween episode), so I could see them picking up right where season 3 episode 8 left off. Dara said episode 8 is important to rewatch for s4 and we have that screen cap of what looks to be Ricky unpacking on his bed (perhaps a flashback to before the kids watched the trailer?) so I think the SHOW will start mid-late summer, which would line up with when we start to watch it too.

TLDR: one scene and a release date tomorrow, trailer mid-late June, first episode release late July-first week of August

I also genuinely think we are getting a s5 but it won’t be announced tomorrow

My prediction for the first episode (if you care hahaha)

We start off right where episode 8 left. We see rina kiss again and them walking off stage and some sneaky scene where someone (even Corbin if he’s secretly still being a villain) is capturing their audio (the camera turned off, but mic’s very well could have still been on and for Corbin to blatantly say he was turning off the camera feels… sus to me)

We see a time jump of the kids returning from camp and some of the reasons they were dressed/acting the way they were at the trailer premiere (like Kourtney). We see the scene of Ricky unpacking and the photo of gina on his bed.

Then we flash forward to the first day/week back at East high where the kids find out about hsm3 -something Jenn is so proud of- just for the spotlight to kind of be taken by the principal announcing hsm4. (I feel like this will reflect her story arc in a big way. Like she’ll get another chance to be in an HSM movie and/or she is sad about the spotlight of her show getting taken so Mozzarella Stick comforts her and that’s what gets them together [I’m a Mikexjenn stan, but I won’t deny who will probably end up together]).

It's so nice to see Ricky and Gina smiling at each other again! It's been so long since they've just had fun spending time together without being weighed down by unspoken things. Of course, we can still expect a bunch of complicated feelings and rina's trademark deeper understanding, which naturally means they'll have some heavier conversations. But for now it feels so good to see them start to be friends again!

This is what I got from pausing every .5 seconds with the trailer:

What Time is It? (in the car on the way to camp)

Start the Party (possibly a mashup with What Time is It? Gina is leading the song)

Audition song (Gina is gonna go "all out." I think she'll have a costume change during the audition like Nini did in Season 1 and she'll suddenly be singing in a professional setting wearing all gold)

Basketball song (Corbin Bleu and Gina will be dancing)

Ricky song (where he's looking out to the city and playing an invisible guitar...)

Color wars song (between yellow and blue. No one asked but here are the teams: yellow team - Maddox, Jet, Kourtney, Carlos. Blue team - EJ, Ashlyn, Gina, Ricky. Meg is probably running the event as she is holding a microphone and singing)

I'm not sure about this one, but at 1:03 in the trailer we see Kourtney and EJ singing and dancing in their episode 1 clothes. This could be Start the Party.

I think the reason we haven’t gotten a trailer yet is because the season is so short and so much is happening according to those leaks that there isn’t much they could include in a trailer that wouldn’t spoil big things happening this season

Considering those "leaks" came from unreliable sources, I wouldn't worry too much about that being the reason why we haven't gotten the trailer yet. I'm honestly predicting we're going to get a trailer either this Thursday or Friday, considering those are usually the days when content is released (since it's the end of the week). Honestly, dropping the season 3 trailer on a Tuesday would seem a bit odd LOL 😂 I would expect official content to be dropped either at the end or beginning of the week (so Sundays, Thursdays, or Fridays). 🤷🏽‍♀️
