quark watches star trek season 2 episode 23
abandoned space ship?
the crew got Powdered
lmao the abandoned ship uses the same set as the enterprise. how much money do you think they saved this week
Something Terrible Happened Here
captain tracy is....?????
hm. this seems vaguely racist
this captain tracy dude is so evil
"what if aliens were racist against white people"
You Are Infected
"you can never leave this place" they will absolutely leave
surely the starfleet captain did not violate the prime directive. that would be unprecedented.
"bacteriological warfare experiments in the 1990s"
captain tracy? evil? i cant believe it
oh no. not the red shirt.
"help me make immortality tubes"
kirk ass shot
all things considered i guess its pretty subversive that the "savages" are played by white actors and the "civilized" aliens are played by asian actors? the portrayal is still pretty weird about asian people
can one of these evil aliens rip kirks shirt for old times sake
once again i am requesting that sexualization be equal opportunity and not just for the alien ladies
The Savages Have Escaped
once again we are talking about the cold war
everything is fine and we can actually leave
captain tracy is insane
ok so were saying that giving aliens weapons to win their alien war is bad this time?
this all seems rather disconnected from the fake immortality stuff
The Evil White People Have Come For Us All
WHAT
THIS IS ACTUALLY LITERALLY THE COLD WAR?????
ok the subversion is dumb now
basically this planet is like. what if the cold war ended with the communists winning. and the americans were run out of their homes and eventually became weird and savage. and i guess the communists won with bacteriological warfare. and the remains of the Disease led to the planet developing Immunity Generators. and also all americans are white because star trek forgot to not be racist this time
LMFAO THE ALIENS CARRYING A FUCKING AMERICAN FLAG HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
this is so weird
spock is their antichrist i guess
it has been 0 episodes since kirk wrestled with another man in the sand as an alien ritual
Vulcan Mind Powers
their holy book is the constitution
kirk reads the constitution
kirk gets all judgy about captain tracy violating the prime directive and then solves the conflict by violating the prime directive but in a way the narrative rewards because violating the prime directive is morally neutral but were pretending its not
God Bless America.
The Americans Revolted Against The Evil Communists And Conquered Them And Now They Must Be Friends With The Communists Because Thats What America Is All About
that was really fucking interesting but also so dumb. this is like the dark and evil counterpart to a taste of armageddon
so are we not gonna address that theres a copy of earth out there with identical political history up to the point of the cold war. i feel like someone should point that out
oh yeah and that disease that removed all of the water from the human body. can we talk about that

Hey, I need the lore on the Wil Wheaton national TV fiasco. I'm intrigued.
I apologize for letting this sit in my inbox for a hot minute, being an adult with responsibilities and stuff is stupid 😒 (especially when you have an uncontrolled chronic illness on top of it, but anywho)
my time has finally come
okay I lied just a little because it wasn't technically Wil Wheaton that made fun of me, but you'll get what I mean in a moment
So about ten(ish) years ago, Wil had a short lived series on Syfy called the Wil Wheaton Project and for those unfamiliar, he would basically discuss the geek news of the week (like, I know Gotham was airing at the same time, so he would often talk about the latest episode) and there were sketches and guest stars and things of that nature.
But, let me give you some context on me ten years ago, so I can really paint the picture of how batshit this was for me. So, I would've been around 19, maybe 20, at that time, and I had just watched Next Gen for the first time and instantly fell in love (it was actually the first star trek series I had seen, and it's what got me into it). But, not only did I love the show and characters as a whole, I was OBSESSED with Wesley in particular (and Data, but that's not relevant to this story), and at that point in my life I was so much worse than I am now in the sense that, when I was fixated on a certain character, I was FIXATED. Which made me want to look up what Wil was doing in the present day. (it certainly didn't help that i developed a brief little crush on adult Wil). Like, I bought and read his book, I watched and rewatched every movie of his I could get my hands on (Toy Soldiers and Stand By Me in particular were practically playing on a loop), I would rewatch the Wesley episodes like. It was bad lol
So, when I found out he was going to have a new show on Syfy, ofc I was super thrilled and my ass was SEATED from day one when it first premiered. I would faithfully watch it every single week while live tweeting. But, obviously the only episode I ever missed live ended up being the one where I was mentioned lmao I can't remember exactly why I couldn't watch it right away, it's been ten years lol But, I think I was just out or something so I had my DVR set. Normally I would've just watched it the second I got home, but my Mom really enjoyed it as well so I promised I would save it until the next night so we could watch together. As soon as I said good night to her, I logged onto twitter and. all these random people were tweeting me and retweeting a couple of my tweets and I was like "????" I used twitter a lot back then, but I still like. my following was very modest, and I was only involved in one (1) fandom on there, so things like that did not happen to me. And what's worse, the first few people that tweeted at me didn't really explain why?
BUT THEN. I got to one that I still remember it to this day both because it's when I was sort of clued in to what had happened and also because the tweet itself was kinda funny to me. It said something like "just watched the wil wheaton project and immediately had to run to twitter to see if you're real, I'm so glad you are. Have a good evening!" and that's when the adrenaline kicked in. I saw a few more tweets mention the Wil Wheaton Project so at this point I'm literally shaking lmao and I ran into my Mom's room to show her and to freak out a little so she's like "alright, let's go watch it"
And we're watching it, and everything's normal, Wil's just talking about the nerdy stuff that happened that week and I'm just getting more confused as to what I had to do with this BUT THEN
(as a sidenote, they obviously showed my twitter username, but I'd rather not repeat it here because I started it when I was a very young teenager and I no longer have access to it and I'm sure there's stuff on there from past me that would get me doxxed and killed on the "we piss on the poor" no nuance website)
Anyway, he had this segment with Skeletor where Skeletor would read mean tweets, and since this was the season 1 finale (which, unfortunately, also turned out to be the series finale), Skeletor was reading tweets disparaging the Wil Wheaton Project. AND THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN, MY TWEET POPS UP ON THE SCREEN BEHIND WIL AS HE SAYS SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF, "I happen to know a lot of people like watching the show. For example, [REDACTED] said, 'My Tuesday isn't complete without a new episode of the #WilWProject :)'"
and that's about where I burst into (very excited!) tears lmao my mom had to lovingly shush me because she was trying to hear what was being said but I was too busy crying
So, then Skeletor made comment about how I must be a woman of sophistication before he pulled up another one of my tweets that read, "I love sitting on countertops and I don't know why" and then he said one or two more things making fun of me and my love of sitting on countertops and that was about it lol
But the thing is, those two tweets were not back to back. I was a young millennial on social media, I was posting every damn thought that popped into my head lmao and idk when they started planning out the next week's show and writing the jokes, but there's about a 50% chance that either Wil himself or someone on his team saw some of tweets where I talked about how adorable I thought Wesley was in his uniform 🤦🏻♀️ (I like to imagine my absolute nightmare scenario where Wil and maybe a few writers are all sitting around some table and my tweets are just projected onto a screen in the front of the room or something. I don't want to be corrected if that's not what happened, I'd rather just live with that image forever )
Anyway, I can't remember exactly how long it was after that happened, but I believe it was at least a few days, Wil posted on his website that unfortunately, the show had been canceled. Except he titled that particular post with "if you like sitting on countertops..." which was so bittersweet for me. Like, I was obviously super bummed his show hadn't made it but it was so exciting that I wasn't just a blip on his radar, like I was still a part of the running gag! And, as I said, it's been a decade since this happened but I still think of it at least once a year on the anniversary, if not more often, because it was legit one of the top 5 moments of my life lol
I've always hoped that I would get to go to a convention or something and meet him so I could be like "I'm the countertop girl!" but sadly, especially with COVID, that hasn't happened yet. Perhaps someday :)
#I know he has a tumblr but i'm sure he gets a lot of messages so I've just never bothered#asks#anyway thanks for asking I've been wanting to tell this story for YEARS#also if you celebrate HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

hello uh so I will not feel self actualized until I get into Star Trek but it’s so vast and I have no idea where to start. you’re a fan, right? any advice?
The good thing about Star Trek is that you can just pick any series to watch and it’ll make sense to you eventually.
(Note: this might not apply to the newer series.(definitely not to Picard, which is the one show that’s an explicit sequel to another) like Discovery, Strange New Worlds, & Lower Decks but uh. I’ve only seen s1 of Discovery anyway. It’s fine? It’s fine.)
Idk what other fans would say but my advice would be starting with either The Next Generation or The Original Series, completely dependent on one factor: Do you want to start with a show that’s going to be a lot closer in tone to the next few that come after it (aka Deep Space 9, Voyager, Enterprise) or do you want the campy space hijinks that make up Star Trek in its most undiluted form?
Because The Original Series is fantastic, it holds up remarkably well for a show from the 60s (aside from a few missteps here and there that, for the most part, seem to be earnest takes that have aged poorly.) It’s vibes are incredible. It’s all melodrama and Shatner overacting and Leonard Nimoy raising his eyebrows and fight scenes that mostly involve characters inexplicable ducking and rolling around on the floor (or getting their shirts ripped off.) There is a reason this show captured the hearts of people so well that it jumpstarted a whole cultural phenomenon and invented shipping while it was at it. (Okay, another reason to start with TOS, if you’re interested in it, is that it opens up the biggest and oldest parts of the AO3 map. Seriously, there’s Spirk fic from the zines of the 70s and 80s that’s been transferred onto the site and is a joy to read.)
But that being said, no series after the original ever fully committed to that tone again. (Behind the scenes reasons of the show being handed off to Rick Berman, but we don’t have time for Star Trek history lessons here.) The Next Generation is a lot closer to what the standard Star Trek experience is like, a lot calmer, a lot less overacting and a lot more, well, actual acting, less colors on the screen but a world that’s a little more firmly established. TNG is almost nothing like TOS, but there’s a reason it ran for seven seasons (if my memory is correct.) The only con is that, as opposed to TOS, which is fantastic out the gate, you do have to pay the entry fee for TNG (the incredibly rocky first season.)
(There’s also a few episodes of TNG that only make sense if you’ve seen the first series, but they’re more nostalgic romps than anything.)
You could absolutely also start with DS9 or Voy or any of the others. Like I said, they’re built for anyone to enter the series at any point, and there’s no reason you have to fully finish any of them before jumping into the next to test the waters for the same reason. The reason I’m suggesting starting with TOS or TNG has more to do with setting a tone than anything else, because for example, without the baseline of TNG, where everything will always be fine as long as they believe in Starfleet’s mission!, DS9’s darker tone loses a bit of its bite.
And personally, I’d say just start at the very very beginning with TOS and go chronologically. It’s as good a method as any to get into this. (Oh, I’ve forgotten to mention The Animated Series. It’s kind of an add-on to TOS, if you didn’t get enough of the space hijinks lmao.)
There’s also the movies, books, and video games. The movies, I’d say look at when they were released and make sure you’ve watched whatever seasons of the show are out up until then, or nothing will make any sense to you. (ie, don’t watch Star Trek: The Motion Picture until you’ve finished TOS.) The exception to this is the trilogy released around 2009, which can technically be watched without familiarity to the series at all. They’re basically ‘what would happen if you took the crew of TOS and instead of camp, you gave them explosions and lens flares’ and some people may try to convince you they are bad. These people do not understand how to have fun. I would recommend at least passing familiarity with TOS for the best effect, though. (And by best effect, I do mean sobbing when Leonard Nimoy comes on screen.)
As for books, I haven’t read a lot, but again, if it’s got the name of a specific series slapped on there, best to actually know that show before you get into it.
And the video games are crap. <3 Do not waste your time. (Okay, I’m sure some of them have to be good, but if they are, I haven’t played them. Maybe just look up a gameplay series on YouTube if you really need to see them for some reason.)
So hopefully that was slightly helpful and didn’t just confuse you more. tl;dr: honestly start whenever because you can always go back and watch the rest later, but either TOS or TNG are solid places to begin.

You had me hooked at Godzilla
Are there robots? Cus I remember reading robots somehwere
And these guys give me superhero vibes, do they have superpowers? Or are they like, power rangers but high tech
Fun fact! The original head of the company that makes Ultraman, Mr. Eiji Tsuburaya (may he rest in peace), was the special effects director for the original Godzilla, before he split off to create his own production company! (Yeah, Ultraman's been going a while... Off and on since 1966!) So there's a good reason Godzilla is an easy comparison to make, and it's not just because of all the kaiju!
There are robots sometimes! The big focus is on the titular Ultramen -- aliens made of light from a distant galaxy, (usually,) capable of being large or small, generally do-gooders and capable of fusing their life with a human host for mutual survival -- but there have been both robot antagonists and robot friends throughout the years. The current season, Blazar, is very new-viewer friendly and has a giant mecha-godzilla-esque mecha that our heroes pilot (starting from episode 3)! His name is Earth Garon and we all love him.
As for superhero vibes... Kinda! As I mentioned, Ultramen can fuse with humans for mutual survival - Ultras need intense solar radiation to survive more than a few minutes, which Earth's atmosphere unfortunately blocks, so fusing lets them hide in the human's body on Earth to survive long-term when waiting for kaiju to show up, and lets the human hide in the Ultra's body for combat! (Well, there's other situations too, because not all "Ultramen" are from the same place, and others find other solutions... but that's the most common way.) So the protagonist is usually very superhero-like, with a "secret identity" of sorts! (EDIT: ... And yes, Ultramen themselves typically have superpowers. The most basic is beam attacks, but there's been everything from healing powers to energy weapon summoning to CRAB MINIATURIZING BEAM to summoning black holes! They're a bit magical like that.)
But then there's usually a government Defense Team, or other human allies, who are trying to solve mysteries and save Earth themselves, with human technology! So that part's often more got Star Trek vibes than Power Rangers, I'd say, but they'll often have combining jet fighters or mecha and such, so a bit similar after all, lol. A big theme is humanity trying to find its own place in the universe and grow to protect themselves!
... Though, that's mostly in proper seasons. Zero's a bunch of movies, usually set out in space with very few humans (or human-looking characters) at all, so it's very much a larger-scale sci-fi superhero romp there. A bit more Star Wars than Star Trek, but still it's own thing and very fun!
... Ah, I talked too much again. Well, if you need any more rambling about my favorite series, I'll be around, lmao
#rambling#listen. ultraman's love for humanity is intense and real#they largely tend to view us like younger siblings#we can mess up and be annoying but#they want us to succeed so much#and if we get in over our heads they will rush to protect us#it's all so very good and cute ;w;#ARGH TRYING TO SUM UP SO MANY DIFFERENT SEASONS IS HARD#alright alright time for bed ace

Tag nine people you want to get to know better -
I was tagged by the lovely @firstkanaphans 🤗
I think I might have done this once already, so don’t cancel me if my answers are the same or different because I can’t remember lol. I need a better tagging system, I stg.
Three Ships
I’ll go with my current obsessions since they do change monthly it seems.
1: AkkAyan - They still own me, no shame.
2: ToddBlack - Again, no shame.
3: WannTul - Side character crumbs that I adore.
First Ever Ship
I wanna say like Willow and Tara from BtVS or Piper and Leo from Charmed, because that’s when I really got into the idea of ‘shipping’. But if we’re going back to the first time I thought people should ‘be together’ no matter what was shown, was probably Troi and Riker from Star Trek TNG.
Last Song
I’m currently listening to Jessie Murph’s album Drowning, it’s literally playing as I type this lol.
Last Movie
Terrifier 2, listen I love Art the clown but bro, that did not need a two hour run time. That freaking movie was a slog to get through, a violent as hell slog, but a slog nonetheless.
(Side note to @firstkanaphans about your movie answer, The Medium is one of my favourite Thai horror movies! I’m so glad when other people see the amazing work that Sawanee Utoomma did in that movie, she was stunning!)
Currently Reading
I just finished a book the other night, I have not started another. I don’t read a lot of books tbh, I don’t like going into something unaware if I’ll like it or not. My attention span is very very bad so if I’m going to put the mental energy into something, I like to know ahead of time that it’ll be worth it in the end.
Currently Watching
Never Let Me Go, Moonlight Chicken and Utsukushii Kare 2. I think that’s it at the moment, I’m occasionally catching GAP episodes, but it’s not a weekly watch for me, it’s more when I’m bored and have nothing else to do.
Currently Consuming
Coffee, it’s basically what I live on. Who needs to be able to afford groceries when you have coffee lol.
Currently Craving
Gummy bears, I don’t know why, but I’m on a gummy candy kick. I really want some, I’m like side eying my gummy vitamins lmao!!
Tagging -
I’m not going to tag anyone because I’m pretty sure everyone and their pet has done this, at least in my corner of tumblr. But if you haven’t done it and want to, then consider this me tagging you! Make sure you tag me back so I can see your answers ☺️

When did you first enter the ACOTAR fandom, and what drew you in?
Which, if any, of the books is your favorite?
Which canon pairing is your favorite?
I already know which crack pairing is your favorite, but do you have any other crack pairings that spark joy?
Also - do you have any other fandoms that you’re heavily invested in?
From Santa (Sorry Santa has been so busy lately. Santa is happy to get to know more about you! Santa can’t wait to get started on your gift, but Santa is procrastinating!)
Im not sure what first drew me into the acotar fandom - I think my friend introduced me to it accidentally (although she has no recollection of this lol). What really drew me in was the mix of fantasy and romance, and how relatable I found the characters.
Canon favorite pairing is probably Nesta and Cassian, I love them so much.
other favorite crack ships include Azris (Az x Eris), Nessaniel (Nesta and Cassian and Az, because we love a good poly throuple), Morlain (Mor and Elain), and i think that about covers it but I can probably come up with more if you need more lmao.
ACOTAR is definitely my most invested in fandom, but I’ve also read ToG and CC. Other fandoms not by SJM - I’ve been really enjoying the Dragon Prince on Netflix lately, my parents accidentally got me into Star Trek once and I’m not like in the fandom fandom but it’s definitely really good (I’ve only seen the original series and some random episodes of other things lol). I love love love the Kingmaker chronicles by Amanda Bouchet (I hope I spelled her name right), and basically everything by Ilona Andrews is really good.
Also sorry if this was late as well - I’m also getting progressively busier as the holidays approach 😭😂 hope you’re having a good holiday season, and it was nice hearing from you!!

I want the void to see my takes on Star Trek: Coda
I have opted to read Star Trek: Coda, the tilogy that sort of closes out the pre-disco/pre-picard eu novelverse that carried on from the shows and the movies from like the 90s to I think late 10s?
Three dudes put it together and wrote each book. Book 1 (Moments Asunder) is by Dayton Ward someone I admit I am unfamiliar with. Im mostly doing this cause this lil EU has a soft spot in my heart for having read the Destiny Trilogy (Borg War mentioned below) one of the Titan books (Sword of Damocles, fun time nightmare) and the first DTI book ‘Watching the Clock’ (The DTI is basically the Federation’s Time OSHA) Destiny was very cool for teen me (dont know if it holds up but the Aventine is a certified banger of a starship).
DTI follows fan favorites Dulmer and Lucsly from that one ep of DS9 as they deal with time bullshit, the Temporal Cold War from Enterprise, local DTI counterparts and their superiors/successors from Uptime: The TIC of the 19th Century (Temporal Integrity Commission from Voyager, actually Time Cops kind of dicks) and the FTA from the 31st century (the reformed version of the TIC who are much less angy about everything and more yoda to their mace windu.)
I bring this up because its a good book (need to read the others) has some fun stuff about how time works and linking different Time Episodes from TNG - ENT and has my favourite detail about the DTI: the entire department hates Kirk for his time crimes (his frequent jaunts through history is stated to be a big factor in the forming of the department) and Janeway for her own time crimes which led to a fun story where Lucsly quit in disgust when DTI and FTA agents stopped them from sending her to time war criminal jail (Uptime agents are by default in charge because) for vague time reasons (listed below)
Fun opener: lists pertinent details of the setting in dot point form like Sisko was in the wormhole for like one year lmao, ds9 got blown up by the breen and so they built another one but federation design and its ds9 2. Ro Laren is in charge because Kira decided to be a Vedek. Some of this is stated, some of this I learned in the few other books Ive read, and some of this is a wiki dive on Memory Beta (its like their official licensed but not canon works wiki, lots of cool ships pictures.) Apparently those weird critters that got into starfleet in early TNG were a trill offshoot from 1000 years back that basically left Trill to make their perfect joined society in space with no normies and then did some genetic fuckery and accidently made them into Goa’ould that are insane and want to do genoicde. They thought they got them all and just erased that part of their history but Dax finds out about it from the big trill that lives inside those caves which is super old and because of political issues its agreed all symbionts will return to the caves following their current hosts death until a sufficient number is reached so that anyone who wants to join can be joined.
Janeway died stopping a Borg attack where they ate Pluto and was then resurrected a year later by Q to help the full circle fleet (federation exploration fleet equipped with slipstream drives that were perfected from Voyagers info, sent to look at how the Delta Quadrant is doing) with a negative space wedgie that she'd solved in the history where she didn't commit crimes against the timeline. It has something to do with the Q and the Omega molucule being like opposite forces and the Q Continuum are creative balances or something to the Omega Continuum’s raw chaos? and a crew member of full circle is like a child of Omega somehow, Idk, these summaries arent great. They figure out how to stop it from blowing up the universe and Lady Q is pissed cause it kills q, but Q understands why it happened and says she’ll forgive Janeway in time. Ensign Omega also dies but she was books only I think. They only lose a few billion years from the lifespan of the universe which seems pretty good all things considered.
Data also was resurrected 5 years after he died in Nemesis (they figured out how to pull his brain out of B4) and so was Lal (they figured out how to pull her brain out of Data and make a body that didnt brain destroy itself). Bashir also dated nice augment lady from those two eps of DS9 which I dont really like as a concept because of the whole power dynamics they acknowledge in that episode. Also hes recovering on Cardassia with Garak after the 31 stuff listed below. Tom Parris and Belana Torres are still together but had to flee with the full circle fleet cause their kid is apparently some Klingon messiah or some shit.
its been two years since the Borg war, where they assaulted the entire alpha and beta quadrant in a 'more trouble than they're worth' attack. It was solved by time bullshit, learning the origin of the Borg (which I admit I liked when I read), and a higher species led by the now functionally immortal Captain Hernandez (archers ex from that one ep of Ent with the Columbia who managed to survive the og event that inspired the Kobayashi Maru Test and limp to a planet with advanced alien leading to a bootstrap paradox deal.) It led to a bunch of bullshit including andoria briefly seceding, the romulans, the gorn, the breen, the tholians and others making the typhon pact which is sort of the federations counterpart in peaceful exploration and expansion but of the bad guy races (of them only the romulans and some gorn are actually trying to do the whole peace in our time thing the rest use it as a military alliance).
The Federation and Klingon Empire responded by expanding the Khitomer Accords to include the ferengi (now less libertarian and shit, thank you based Rom who immediately accepted entrance into the accords), cardassia (now less fascist and shit, maybe thanks Garak on that one? idk, need to read A Stich in Time still), the free romulan state (the supernova happened and basically split the empire ideologically into the hardliners and the nicer ones, the nice ones were going to join but got forcibly absorbed into the Typhon Pact) and the Talarians (cant place em, think they were in like one ep of TNG?).
Bashir succeeded in taking out Section 31 and their crimes were exposed but it accidentally implicated Picard because he helped remove a corrupt federation president who 31 then had quietly moided. Riker is an Admiral (suck it Picard) with the Titan as his psuedo flagship as he leads exploration efforts in the Beta Quadrant (and Tuvok is there, yay Tuvok!). The Titan is also a certified banger of a starship.Riker was its former Captain but got promoted for the whole ‘helping directly neutralize the Borg forever’ thing. He and Deanna have a kid which the lizard man chief doctor helped deliver (I like him, hes fun and I think makes jokes about being a carnivore). His ex and former XO, Christina Vale, is the permanent captain and im sure she and Deanna have a lot of fun talking shit about the admiral behind his back. Part of why Titan is a banger is that it has the most diverse crew in the Federation, so lots of weird aliens! we start at human plus with Melora Pazla from that one DS9 ep and going way way harder.
I love when they just have weird races, one of the crew members is from a race of like predator shapeshifters who look like gold and have a humanoid form because their bionest mother or whatever decided it would aid in working with humanoid species. There also Ensign Torvig who is from a race cybernetically uplifted by another race and was very emotionally fraught during the borg thing because of depressing existential questions about cybernetic life. Seemed like a good egg from what I remember (not literally, they're like deer-ish if I remember right?).
Bajor is in the federation too now, but further research indicates Quarks is now a bar and embassy so he can keep making money in utopia. Must be nice having your based Union Chad Brother leading your people. also in this eu canon, Sisko got back from the celestial temple a whole year before Janeway got home? which is very funny to me. Also Rom and Leeta had 3 kids and stopped Brunt from couping him with false marriage contracts or someshit (suitable Ferengi). Good for him, glad he and Leeta made it work (and also created a workers paradise Im assuming). The Enterprise E is currently in the Odyssean reach or something, charting space and making friends on the border with the romulan chunk of the Pact States. Yay! Boldly going!
I think that's everything relevant to the starting line? Jesus this is set barely 10 years after Nemesis. Shit hit the fucking fan for a few years there. And now it appears to be again with some kind of weird time nonsense, will our beloved characters be able to stop history going bad? again? again? Will we see some cool ships? Will Captains not named Picard or Riker get to be cool as hell? Will Lt. Cmdr. Nog be promoted from acting Assistant Chief Engineer to Chief Engineer of DS9 2? Wiil Chief O’Brien be brought back from Starfleet Academy just to suffer? Those answers lie in the next post and beyond!

Rare Pear March - Day 11
Prompt: Pirates
Pairing: Liv Chenka/Helen Sinclair
Rating: T
Summary: After leaving the Doctor, Liv and Helen join the Space Service. The vessel they serve on runs into trouble as the Nine ambushes them.
Read on AO3 or below
Line Of Duty
“Comms, have we got a translation yet?” The Captain interrupted Helen’s concentration and she tried to discern the distress signal they had picked up on a few minutes ago.
“Working on it, Ma’am. The universal translator is struggling to identify the language-” She replied dutifully as she worked the communications systems. She frowned as what she was seeing didn’t make sense to her. The Captain seemed to sense her discomfort and prompted:
“But…?”
“To me, it sounds like the transmission includes more than one language from the way that- I’m running sections separately, with any luck we can-” Helen’s mind was working feverishly. She had never seen a signal such as this before. Granted, she didn’t have an awful lot of experience yet, she was only three months into her service time, and her practical training was far from completed, but she had done well so far. To be allowed to run Comms on the bridge by herself was proof of that and she was determined not to disappoint.
“It is a distress call, isn’t it?” The Executive Officer, who stood behind the Captain’s chair, prompted impatiently.
“Yes, that part of the message is clear but- there are several messages being transmitted at the same time,” Helen answered reluctantly, she wanted more time. There was something strange about the message. Yes, it was a distress signal, that part was obvious but she felt like there was more to it. Something about the additional data in the transmission put her on edge. There was more than one message here.
“Helm, pull alongside them, hail the vessel, offer assistance,” the Captain decided, just as the system translated the section that the linguist had isolated.
“It’s not just a distress signal, it’s a warning as well, to keep away,” Helen interrupted quickly, both proud at her accomplishment and concerned about the implication, she looked around. On the big screen up ahead, the ship came into view that they had received the distress call from. They were approaching, as ordered.
“Guess we'll just be extra careful,” the Ex-O retorted with a dismissiveness to his voice that rubbed Helen up the wrong way but she was in no position to question him.
“Scans indicate the warp core is damaged,” the Science Officer stated a few seats over from Helen. “Numerous life signs aboard, if the core becomes unstable…” He sounded concerned and seemingly with good reason.
“Any sign of foul play?” The Captain asked.
“No signs of attack on the outside of the ship, most likely technical failure,” the science-tech concluded after further scans.
“Get within transporter range to be able to evacuate at the moment’s notice,” the Captain decided and as they continued their approach, Helen grew more and more uneasy.
“I’m really not sure that’s a good idea, the warning-” She spoke up out of turn when her anxiety got the better of her. She had a terrible feeling about the whole thing. Her instincts rarely let her down so she deemed it a risk worth taking.
“You said there were several messages layered over each other? You may be mistranslating the underlying messages,” the Captain said. She wasn’t being unkind but the message seemed clear: you’re still new to all this. Mind your place. “Medical, prepare for possible casualties,” she went on to instruct over the ship-wide intercom.
“Understood,” Liv’s response sounded through the bridge and Helen remembered her wife’s words about having faith in her abilities.
“I don’t think I am-” Helen did her best to keep her frustration at bay but she couldn’t bring herself to drop the matter.
“Within range, Captain,” the Science Officer interrupted.
“Hail them,” the Captain directed Helen, who had no choice but to do as instructed.
Suddenly a jerk went through the ship.
“What was that?” The Executive Officer demanded and the Science Officer was quick to provide an answer while it was already obvious on screen.
“Tractor beam,” he answered at sight of the energy blast that had originated on the other ship.
“What the-” The Captain growled.
“We’re being hailed,” Helen stated as the data appeared on her console, flashing, glaring, threatening.
“On screen, what the hell is going on?” The Captain got to her feet and faced the main screen with an angry scowl. This was no way to greet a rescue party.
“Hello, hello, hello!” A cheerful voice echoed through the bridge when Helen opened the communications channel. “Space service vessel, I regret to inform you that you have fallen for the oldest trick in the book!” On screen, a grinning face appeared that looked all too familiar. Helen’s stomach dropped. She immediately recognised the ginger Time Lord who appeared to be doing a little victory dance on the bridge of the other ship, among the dead bodies of its crew. The Nine had hardly changed from the last time she had seen him. While his clothes had grown more colourful than his last disguise as the IX priest, he remained every inch the obnoxious villain she remembered. His laughter put her teeth on edge.
“Pirates!” The Ex-O snarled and Helen couldn’t blame him for his observation.
“Yes, well, I can see why you might think that. It’s the outfit, right? It does suit me though, doesn’t it?” The Nine took a twirl, his wide, white shirt and orange trousers certainly was reminiscent of a classic Earth pirate but the twinkle of madness and malice in his eyes was far more terrifying.
“No…” Helen breathed as she recognised the danger they were in.
“Comms-tech, what is it?” The Captain looked over to her.
“I know him, he’s-” The linguist started but didn’t get a chance to finish.
“Anyway, you fell for my little ruse and now, I’m going to take your ship,” the Nine informed them with glee.
“Like hell you will!” The Captain snapped. “Code Red! Battle stations! Raise the shields! Prepare to fire!” She barked orders at her bridge crew who rushed to follow orders.
“Best get moving, looks like I might be out of time…” The Nine replied in a sing-song voice and worked the controls on his end.
“The warp core on the other ship is overloading!” The Science Officer exclaimed when readings on his terminal spiked.
“Pull away!” The Captain shouted at the Helmsman but it was too late. The ship alongside them exploded and the shockwave hit the space service vessel before the shields were at full capacity.
There was smoke, sparks flew from live wires that had been exposed in several small explosions. Helen’s ears were ringing, she had hit her head on the console and she felt dizzy. She struggled upright, onto her knees and found her hands bloody after touching them to her aching head. Definitely a concussion from blunt trauma, as Liv would have concluded. In a wave of concern she worried what sort of damage the explosion could have caused in the medical bay. She didn’t have an opportunity to think about it for too long as her attention was drawn by a far greater danger:
“Now, no sudden movements, this ship belongs to me now!” The Nine strolled around the bridge, a gun in each hand and a triumphant grin on his face. Helen looked around to find the rest of the bridge staff in a similar situation as herself. Disoriented, dishevelled and struggling to their feet. Around them, red lights flashed and alarms blared. Helen’s heart jumped into her throat with anxiety when she found the Tactical Officer and the Security Chief on the floor, unmoving. “Nice ship!” The Nine commented as he looked around, “We’ll have it fixed up in no time. For now, I will accept your unconditional surrender.” He fixed his eyes on the Captain who was pulling herself upright with steely determination. Helen spotted blood seeping through her uniform on her shoulder.
”I don’t think so!” The linguist snapped at the Nine before she could think better of it. She would not allow him to hurt any more people.
“Oh, it’s you!” The Nine exclaimed when he recognised her and laughed joyfully, as if her presence delighted him to no end. Helen hung on to her console for support as she scowled at him.
“Sinclair, explain,” the Captain pressed through gritted teeth.
“He calls himself the Nine, he’s a Time Lord criminal,” the linguist answered dutifully.
“You’ve met him before?” The Executive Officer concluded with a dark frown as if suddenly, she didn’t fully trust her anymore. Helen did her best to ignore it which wasn’t difficult as the Nine seemed eager to keep her attention.
“You should have been eaten by the Ravenous!” He exclaimed, sounding thoroughly disappointed. “He ruined it, didn’t he? Why do people always have to ruin my fun?!” He stamped his foot like a toddler who didn’t get their way.
“You quite literally only have yourself to blame for that,” Helen shot back angrily.
“But if you’re here, that means the Doctor must be here, too!” The realisation dawned on his face. “Finally, I can get a TARDIS back! Vortex manipulators are so uncomfortable!” That was when Helen spotted the leather bracelet that once upon a time had belonged to River Song. He really didn’t deserve to have it.
“What do you want?!” The Captain interrupted his babbling decisively and angrily.
“What do I want?” The Nine whirled back around, pointing one of his guns at her head with the other sweeping back and for, across the remaining bridge staff. “Yes, let’s cut to the case, why don’t we,” he grinned. “And there is this really lovely mining planet a few systems over with an abundance of lithium ore. I simply needed a bigger ship to run through their defences. Let’s head over there for a start.”
Out of the corner of her eye, Helen witnessed a silent exchange between the science-tech and the Executive Officer. She should have intervened but it was too late, they charged forward, trying to overpower the Nine but his Time Lord instincts gave him the advantage and he struck both of them down with stazer blasts.
“Not clever, not clever at all. I don’t need you to run this ship,” he laughed with wicked delight as they crashed to the floor. Helen couldn’t be sure if they were dead or stunned but either way, a shiver ran down her spine, particularly when the Six broke out: “KILL THEM ALL!” He snarled and laughed but quickly, the Nine regained control: “You know what, Six, I think I might. But first, here is a question I would like answering,” he turned back to Helen who remained motionless by her console. “Where is the Doctor?!”
“He’s not here,” she answered calmly as she felt the eyes of the remaining bridge personnel on her.
“You’re lying,” the Nine spat.
“I’m not, we don’t travel with him anymore,” she stated, doing her best to keep her cool.
“She’s lying, silly little girl!” Another personality claimed control of the Time Lord. “She might be, Four,” the Nine conceded, as he scanned the room again, wielding his stazers. “But there is an easy way of corroborating that: Where is the other one?”
---
Liv braced herself against the medical console when the ship rocked violently. Equipment was knocked through the medical bay as stretchers dislodged and surgical kits were sent flying. The effects were manageable. They had no patients in critical condition and as a place of safety and healing, the medical bay was well fortified. It also seemed as though the explosion had taken place somewhere to the other side of the ship and left them with limited damage. Liv was sure that it had been an explosion , she had experienced enough of them to recognise it beyond a doubt.
“What was that?” One of the junior med-techs asked, scrambling to his feet. Agitated murmurs broke out with speculations that Liv didn’t have time for.
“Everybody stay calm!” The Chief Medical Officer snapped at her staff as she looked around. The flashing alert lights for a code red were blaring at them and put her on edge.
“The other ship, it exploded!” Another Junior called from the far side of the room where windows allowed a view into space around them.
“Guess we can stop preparing for casualties,” Liv’s Deputy huffed as he started picking up equipment, and the Medical Chief shook her head to herself.
“Something about this doesn’t feel right…” She stated and he frowned at her.
“In what way? Looks like we were a bit late for the rescue operation…”
“I don’t know, I just…” Liv couldn’t explain it. It was instinct. Having been in as many dangerous situations as she had been with the Doctor, she had developed something of a sixth sense for it. “I’m going to find out,” she decided and opened a communications channel to the bridge, even if it was just to make sure Helen was okay. “Medical to bridge.”
---
“Medical to bridge!” Liv’s voice echoed through the command center and Helen allowed herself a moment of quiet relief to find she was alive and seemingly fine.
“Ohhh I see,” the Nine grinned as he seemed to recognise her voice.
“Bridge, are you receiving?” The med-tech’s voice grew more demanding and anxious as she didn’t receive an immediate response.
“Someone answer her,” the Nine exclaimed. “Tell her everything is just fine and someone cancel that bloody alert, it’s giving me a headache.”
“She’ll never believe it,” the Captain gave a bitter laugh.
“Make her believe it,” he snarled and shot a glare at Helen who was reaching to answer Liv. “Not you, she will know you’re lying! You!” He focused back on the Captain: “Tell her everything is fine.”
“Med-tech Chenka? This is the Captain speaking.” She leaned onto the set of controls by her chair, picking up the call.
“Ah yes, that was her name, I always forget,” the Nine chuckled in Helen’s direction. “Humans. So short lived, what’s the point in remembering their names?”
“Captain, is everything alright? The other ship…” The Medical Chief sounded concerned and Helen knew she could rely on her to figure out the danger they were in.
“No, nothing is alright, we have been boarded, the bridge is occupied, we-” The Captain spoke quickly and the Nine roared in anger before striking her down with a blast of his stazer.
“No!” Helen exclaimed but remained where she was when the Time Lord pointed his gun back on her.
“Why can’t you just do as you're told?!” The Nine raged in a fitful tantrum. “Fine, fine!” He took a deep breath and spoke up. “Hello everyone, this is your new Captain speaking, sorry for the convenience, we will be continuing our course shortly. Management structure is under advisement for the time being. Chat soon!” Without awaiting a response he blasted the Captain’s control panel and the communications channel broke off.
“Even you can’t stand against a whole crew worth of soldiers!” Helen snapped angrily but her heart sank as she looked at the destruction around her. Only the Helmsman, the Engineering Liaison and herself remained of the bridge crew.
“We will see about that, won’t we?” The Nine grinned and put one of his stazers away as crowd control had gotten a lot easier. He put it in the back of his trousers as any pirate might. “Now, about that mining planet…” He turned to the Helmsman.
---
“For God’s sake!” Liv shouted in anger when communications broke down. She had heard everything she needed to hear to know they were in grave danger indeed. She had recognised the Nine immediately. While she didn’t know what exactly he wanted, other than gaining control of the ship as it seemed, she couldn’t imagine it was anything good. She felt a little better for having heard Helen’s voice but knowing she was with the Nine did nothing to reassure her.
“Chief, what do we-” The Deputy Chief pulled her from her troubled thoughts while another young med-tech questioned:
“Who was that?”
“A very dangerous criminal who we need to stop, right now. I need a ship wide channel, excluding the bridge,” she decided on a course of action, remembering her responsibilities towards the rest of the crew. It was too early to say what had happened to the Captain and she wouldn’t allow herself to speculate but if the bridge was occupied, that meant both Captain and Executive Officer were out of action.
“I’m not sure that’s possible from here…” Her Deputy answered and she waved it off.
“Actually, never-mind, even better, ship wide channel,” she instructed and leaned onto the console as she considered her words. He gave a nod when he was done and she took a deep breath. “This is Chief Medical Officer Chenka, effective immediately, I’m assuming control of the ship as the Captain and the Ex-O are incapacitated,” she stated firmly, defiantly, as her staff exchanged anxious looks. She wasn’t dissuaded, if anything, it made her more determined to reassure them all with strong leadership: “Maintain red alert, we are in the middle of a hostile takeover, all vital sections of the ship are to be secured until further notice, Senior Security Staff, report to Medical.”
---
“Oh, she is good, isn’t she,” the Nine giggled at Liv’s announcement and looked to Helen who was doing her best to remain calm and cool. While pride swelled in her chest at her wife’s strong words, she also worried she was putting a target on her back.
“Oh, and Nine?” Liv’s voice boomed through the bridge and the Time Lord grinned:
“Yes?” Even though she wouldn’t be able to hear him.
“I’m coming for you, if you so much as lay a hand on anyone else on that bridge, I will kill you. Causality be damned!” The med-tech carried on with icy determination.
“I think she means you,” the Nine smirked at Helen as the transmission ended.
“You have chosen the wrong ship to ambush,” the linguist said calmly.
“No, no, I don’t think so. The way I see it, I get a state of the art ship, hundreds of human hostages, and two of the Doctor’s favourite girls,” the Time Lord grinned. “What better lure to catch myself a TARDIS. What worked on you will surely work on him as well.”
---
“We should storm the bridge,” the Commander of the security team advised. With the Security Chief out of action on the bridge, he was left in charge of the security forces. The most senior officers outside of the bridge staff had gathered in the medical bay as instructed.
“He would kill everyone in there, no, we have to be cleverer than that,” Liv shook her head. As the most senior officer remaining in the command structure, the decision fell to her. “For a start, reroute the systems and bring control over the ship to engineering, I don’t want to give him the opportunity to take us anywhere else.”
The Chief Engineer nodded his agreement while the Security Commander seemed eager to move on.
“Then what?” He questioned.
“Then we go up there with a strike team and are smart about it. Nothing happens without my say so,” she answered and received salutes from around the room.
“Yes, Ma’am.”
---
“I’m locked out of the system,” the Helmsman stated, doing his best to remain calm with the Nine breathing down his neck.
“What do you mean, you’re locked out! You are the pilot!” The Time Lord was quick to anger. “They probably rerouted control away from the bridge,” his Seventh personality interjected and the Nine roared in anger.
“Not going as smoothly as you expected?” Helen questioned. The Engineering Liaison shot her a look, begging her not to antagonise him, but she knew what she was doing. The more of his previous selves emerged, the more rattled he was getting, and while it made him more dangerous, it also made him more likely to make mistakes. That would surely help Liv enact whatever plan she had. Knowing her wife the way she did, she was probably already carrying it out. Locking the bridge out of control over the ship was certainly a first step.
“You be quiet,” the Nine snapped at her. “You don’t want me to let Six off the leash, do you?” He snarled and suddenly, the lights flickered. Energy drained from the bridge and emergency lighting turned on, leaving the command centre in greenish twilight.
Just as Helen was about to reply and make another quip at how well things were going for him, Liv’s voice sounded from beyond the heavy duty door that kept the bridge separate from the rest of the ship.
“Alright, Nine!” She called. “All power has been rerouted away from the bridge, you are surrounded. You are locked out from all command codes, you need a ranking officer to move this ship.”
“And I take it, that's you?” The Nine yelled back and turned to face the door as if he could see through it and stare the med-tech down. “I never took you for the power grabbing type, how exciting!”
“Or you could just surrender,” Liv retorted.
“Fat chance of that,” he laughed.
“Listen, I could just storm the bridge,” Liv informed him matter-of-factly. “Yes, there would be casualties but the security of the ship and the rest of the crew have to come first.”
“Even before your lady love?” The Nine mocked with a glance to Helen who stood a little straighter, arms wrapped around herself, tense.
“If need be,” the med-tech answered calmly and he laughed:
“You’re lying!”
“She’s not lying. We knew what we signed up for,” Helen stated which made the Nine huff in anger.
“Alternatively, you can let me in and we talk,” Liv offered.
“You say you have the codes to move this ship again?” The Nine seemed to be considering his options. He looked around to the three remaining crew members who he had under his control but weren’t much use to him.
“I am the commanding officer right now, yes,” Liv stated calmly.
“Fine. But just you!” The Time Lord yelled at last.
---
“Is this wise?” The Security Commander shot Liv a concerned look as she gestured for him and his forces to take a few steps back.
“Trust me, I’ve dealt with him before,” she answered. “You understand your instructions?”
“Yes Ma’am,” he nodded in confirmation.
“You better not be armed!” The Nine’s voice sounded again.
“Doctors don’t carry weapons,” she shot back as she took a step towards the door, awaiting to be let in.
“Which is why they are stupid,” the Time Lord continued to mock.
“He is mad…” The Commander shook his head as he watched his men fall back.
“He most certainly is,” Liv had no choice but to agree. “If things don’t work out as planned, if you don’t hear from me after fifteen minutes, storm the bridge.”
“Understood,” he nodded and moved down the corridor as well.
“Alright then, I’m alone, open up!” The med-tech called and was almost surprised when the heavy door actually slid open.
Slowly, Liv stepped onto the bridge. She did her best to fight her uneasiness as she took in the destruction around her. It only took her moments to count the bodies on the floor, dead or unconscious, it was impossible to tell but she drew a breath of relief seeing Helen mostly unharmed. There was a gash on her forehead but other than that she seemed fine. She stood by her console with the Engineering Liaison close-by while the Helmsman remained in the pilot seat, looking suitably intimidated. Finally, the med-tech turned her attention to the intruder that gave her a dangerous grin.
“Well then, now that we’re back together, old friends. Where is the Doctor these days, did he finally get fed up with you?” He mocked.
“What do you want, Nine?” Liv shot back without further ado.
“For you to give me back control over the ship,” he answered, gesturing towards the pilot.
”That’s not going to happen,” Liv shook her head. The Nine gave an exasperated sigh and raised his gun, pointing it at Helen’s head.
“I couldn’t help but notice the shiny, shiny wedding bands you’re wearing,” he snickered with a quick glance at the linguist who was doing her best to remain as calm as her wife was. “Do you want to revise that statement?”
“No,” Liv stated simply. “The way I see it, you’re one man with way too many personalities crammed into your pigeon brain and I have a whole ship of trained soldiers.”
“And I have a gun,” the Time Lord snarled.
“You’re never going to get out of here,” the med-tech carried on. “If I were you, I would engage that vortex manipulator right now and be off.” That actually would have been one of the preferred outcomes. She knew they couldn’t allow him to get killed since he had a future that still had to happen, and they wouldn’t have to worry about him anymore. It wasn’t like the space service was equipped to deal with Time Lord criminals. Part of her wished the Doctor would turn up but it seemed like they would have to make due without him.
“He can’t,” Helen interjected, drawing everyone’s attention. The Nine scowled at her but before he could stop her she explained to Liv: “If he could, there would have been no need for him to wait for us to get in close. He’s after the lithium ore which means-”
“Yes, fine, fine, FINE!” He interrupted her, thoroughly irritated. “Maybe it needs to recharge, maybe I need lithium ore to build an appropriate charger, can we move on?” He snapped at her and when she didn’t say anything else, he turned back to face Liv. “So, to recap: I have a gun to your wife’s head, and if you don’t want to become a widow in the next two minutes, I suggest you unlock the controls and take me to that mining planet.”
“And give you the power to travel through time again? I don’t think so. That must suck for you, to be stuck here,” she gave him a mocking smirk despite the seriousness of the situation.
“Besides, what are you even going to do? You have no options here!” The Nine snapped: “You’re not going to try anything anyway, you’re one of the Doctor’s friend’s, and that makes you weak! You’d never do what it takes.”
“I will do whatever it takes,” she answered simply.
Suddenly there was a blast, the noise was ear splintering and there was a blinding flash. Liv had been prepared for the flash grenade going off and shielded her eyes. After all, that phrase had been the pre agreed signal to the Security Commander. She knew he would give her cause to say it.
While the sudden blast made the Nine jump and momentarily blinded him, the med-tech pulled a handgun from behind her back and shot him point blank. The Time Lord was knocked off his feet, his gun scattered away and he crashed onto a floor with a loud thud. It hadn’t been a deadly blast, not even enough to properly stun - not a Time Lord anyway - and he groaned in discomfort.
“You said you weren’t armed!” He whined as he tried to get up but within moments the pilot was on him. While Helen rushed to pick up the gun that had been knocked from his hand, the Helmsman took the one the Time Lord had kept in his belt.
“I lied,” Liv answered flatly with her gun pointed to his head and she turned up the strength of the stazer to make her point abundantly clear. “Commander?! Time to secure the bridge!” Within moments, the security squad rushed onto the bridge, forming a semi circle around Liv with their weapons pointed at the Time Lord.
“The Doctor doesn’t carry weapons,” the Nine - or was it the Three? - wailed.
“The Doctor isn’t here,” the med-tech retorted icily. “You’re dealing with us now and you just put a gun to my wife’s head, how do you think I feel about that?”
“What do we do with him now?” The Commander asked while more support staff followed and started checking the bodies of the fallen crew members for life-signs. It was something Liv was eager to do herself but she knew her work wasn’t done.
“The vortex manipulator, Helen,” Liv glanced at her wife who nodded quickly.
“Yes, I was thinking the same thing, actually,” she agreed and handed the gun over to the engineer so she could go and take the vortex manipulator off the Nine.
“OI! HANDS OFF!” The Time Lord yelled which gave Liv cause to fire her weapon again, into the ground in front of him and he jerked back, startled enough for Helen to pull the leather bracelet off his wrist. “Give that back!” He snapped, good and ready to lunge after her but Liv quickly stepped in between him and her wife.
“Stay down! I have no idea what the Ten is meant to get up to but maybe, this can be where he starts!” She threatened.
“Just a minute…” Helen hooked up the vortex manipulator to her communications console and accessed one of the many upgrades River had made over the years. It was funny. When River had first shown her how to use the vortex manipulator as a communicator to call on Galactic Heritage, Helen hadn’t had the first idea what she was doing. Now, she not only knew how it worked, she also understood how to use it to their advantage. “Got it,” she exclaimed moments later. “Time Lord frequency, somewhere around the temporal coordinates of last time we were there.”
“Do it,” Liv nodded encouragingly while the Nine threw colourful curses at them both, seemingly sensing what would follow.
“You are interrupting a Time Lord frequency without appropriate access codes, identify yourself!” A commanding voice sounded through the bridge as Helen’s communication was picked up.
“This is Helen Sinclair, and Liv Chenka from the Kaldoran Space Service-” the linguist started but was interrupted:
“How did you access this frequency?”
“Through a vortex manipulator but that’s not important, we have the Nine in custody. For the sake of causality we would really rather hand him over than deal with him ourselves,” Helen rushed to explain. For a moment, there was silence on the other end of the line.
“The Nine?” The Time Lord repeated at last and Helen confirmed eagerly:
“Yes!”
“Stand by,” the communication broke off and Liv and Helen exchanged reassured smiles while the rest of the space service staff appeared confused but continued to defer to their commanding officer’s judgement.
“You’re going to regret this!” The Nine spat angrily
”Looks like you’re going home,” Liv observed and he glared at her menacingly:
“I will find you again and when I do-”
“Done all that, come through it, you have so much fun to look forward to when we kick your arse in a few regenerations time,” she shot back with a smirk.
“Spoilers, Liv,” Helen interjected but didn’t get to carry on. The familiar noise of a TARDIS materialising interrupted her.
“You just never know when you’ve seen the last of them, do you?” The TARDIS door opened to reveal another familiar face. Veklin cast a dismissive glance at the Nine as she stepped out of the time and space ship, followed by several members of the Chancellery Guard. “And of you two,” she turned to Liv and Helen with a far kinder expression.
”Commander Veklin,” Helen greeted her brightly, delighted to see that after the dreadful business with the Angels in New York, she seemed to have returned to her duties on Gallifrey. She was wearing the uniform befitting her station. Liv greeted her with a more reserve, yet friendly nod.
“Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we will take it from here,” the Time Lady offered and her men went to restrain the renegade Time Lord.
“I just wanted some nice things!” The Nine snapped, trying to pull free but he couldn’t.
“You can have a nice stasis pod, how about that?” Veklin retorted and gave a wave for the guards to take him inside the TARDIS.
“Next time I see you, I’ll-” He continued shouting but no-one was listening.
“Nice to see you’re continuing on the path you embarked on with the Doctor,” Veklin turned back to Liv and Helen.
“Wouldn’t have it any other way,” the med-tech answered with a smile and Helen added:
“Give our regards to him, next time you see him.”
”I’ll be sure to do that,” the Time Lady nodded and turned back to her TARDIS.
“Do you need the-” Helen cast an anxious glance towards the vortex manipulator that remained on her work station.
“An unregistered piece of time technology shouldn’t be left in the hands of just anyone,” Veklin mused. “Make sure you look after it,” she winked in a rare moment of playfulness as she continued on her way back inside her ship.
“Thank you,” Helen called after her and waved but with that, the TARDIS was already dematerialising.
“Until next time,” Liv hummed and cast a glance to her wife who shared her relieved smile.
“Ma’am, the Captain, she-'' One of the support staff called out to Liv before they could bask in their moment of victory or so much as embrace each other. The Medical Chief’s head flew around to find the Captain regaining consciousness, as did several other members of the bridge staff while receiving medical attention. Either the Nine’s blaster had been faulty, he had turned it to stun to make it last longer, or they were just incredibly lucky. Either way the Captain sat up with the help of the young med-tech by her side.
“What just happened?” She groaned, obviously confused.
“You’ll be alright, Captain,” Liv said quickly and rushed over to take over her care. “Just let me check you over…”
“I don’t want a fuss, I want answers!” The Captain scowled but humoured the med-tech by following her finger with her eyes as she did a quick neurological assessment. “Is the ship compromised?” She demanded urgently.
“Not anymore, the intruder was dealt with,” Liv answered matter-of-factly.
“Do I want to know what ‘dealt with’ means in this case?” The Captain frowned, searching the Medical Chief’s face for answers.
“Handed over to his own people to be detained, we would have had no jurisdiction, we managed to contact their security branch,” Liv explained further.
“In the… half an hour while I was unconscious?” The captain raised her eyebrows as she caught sight of the time on her command console.
“We work fast,” Liv gave a sheepish smile.
“So you do. I look forward to a full briefing about what happened,” she hummed and allowed herself to be helped to her feet when the med-tech judged her fit to stand. “See to the other wounded, Chenka, I’m fine.” She gave her an appreciative smile that said more than praise ever would.
“Yes, Ma’am,” Liv smiled and went to check on the Ex-O next.
“Sinclair?” The Captain turned to Helen who was in the process of disconnecting the vortex manipulator from her console.
“Yes, Ma’am?” The linguist looked up and halted her movements, worried she had done something wrong.
“Remind me to listen next time you have a bad feeling about something,” she said and gave her a smile as well.
“Yes, Ma’am. Thank you,” Helen blushed a little and nodded. She caught sight of Liv who had looked around to witness the exchange. There was so much pride in her eyes that it made the linguist’s heart swell. Now was not the time for heartfelt declarations of love but she hoped her wife could take her meaning from her eyes in return. She had done brilliantly. They both had. The Doctor would be proud of them.
“Now, let’s get the hell out of here!” The Captain announced. “Chenka, give me back control over my ship!”

*☆. My Top 50 Worfriker Moments .♡°
We reached 500 followers tonight, yaay!! 🥳 To thank you all and sort some Worfriker scenes for you to check out, I ranked my personal favourites.
It was worryingly easy to find fifty haha. Some are just a few seconds long, while other “moments” are basically whole episodes. I linked posts, because most of them are already on this blog anyway, but I still hope you enjoy them! Also please tell me your favourite moments! 💞
To be clear, this list is incomplete and sorted to my personal taste. Also, I didn’t count the times when they were just standing unreasonably close, side by side on the bridge, in the corridors, on away missions – otherwise we’d be here all day. So, let’s go!
.
50. First Meeting (Encounter at Farpoint S01E01)
What better way than to start out with the beginning? This isn’t even that shippable of a moment, if it wasn’t for the camera work and music/ sound effects. I know it’s supposed to show off the new bridge and all that, but it reads… differently to me lmao. I love how deadpan s1 Worf is, but s1 Riker is on thin ice in my book…
.
49. “One of my officers was almost killed! That makes it my concern!” (Firstborn S7E21)
Worf calls out another Klingon character [no spoilers here hehe] for being super-unfriendly towards Riker during a meeting between the three of them. I like how both Riker and Worf subtly but unmistakably affirm their loyalty to each other when the other Klingon questions it. Afterwards, when Worf and he are his quarters, Worf downright interrupts him to say, “Why did you treat Commander Riker so disrespectfully? You were rude!”
.
48. touching instead of talking (The Last Outpost S1E05)
This is a place holder for all the other times Will Riker has touched Worf on his arm etc. Among other culprits are “The Hunted” (s3e11) and “Q Who” (s2e16) – on a Borg Ship no less. He is a very tactile person, which I adore for his character. Affectionate physical contact between (hyper)male characters is still something of a rare sight in fantasy and sci-fi, so I’m super happy Frakes acted his character the way he did.
.
47. Power Couple (Q Who S2E16)
A small little moment of them arriving in Ten Forward to confront Q, who talks shit about them as soon as they enter (it’s Q after all lmao). What I love most about this is how neither of them, but Worf especially, gives a fuck. He shoves his body up there like a fucking bulldozer to confront Q, just after Riker gave him a trusting over-the-shoulder-look. True dream team right here. In my opinion, TNG capitalised far too late on this side of their dynamic, but this is an early example of it and I 100% love it, no matter Frakes’ short *accidentally look directly into the camera* moment sdhfjskdskr
.
46. “You’d be surprised how far a hug goes with Worf.” (The Loss S4E10)
This is a very emotional scene between Deanna and Will. They share a close hug and Deanna is like… “do you do that often?”. And Will tells her about him hugging Geordi and Worf… which… is so cute I can’t;; Also, again, male characters showing physical signs of (platonic) affection is so important, even if we don’t get to see it here with other male characters. But now we know that Will gives great comfort hugs, including to Worf, so… Nice. I Would Like To See It.
.
45. Honour the Betazoid Tradition (Star Trek: Nemesis)
Nothing THAT special, in this pairing’s case. Just another instant of Riker shamelessly checking out Worf at the thought of them being naked. In good tradition. The fact that he does this as they are talking about HIS WEDDING TO TROI is… wild. Good acting choice, Mister Frakes. Also, I love how terrified Worf seems to be about appearing naked to said wedding. It’s cute!
.
44. “A werewolf!” (Time’s Arrow, Part II S6E01)
This one made me giggle to no end when I first watched the episode: Mark Twain boards the Enterprise and, as soon as he sees poor Worf, exclaims, “A werewolf!” Of course Worf is Exhausted™ but Riker… in his historical uniform no less… looks interested? Is his Halloween party fantasy finally coming to life? I bet he feels seen sjdfhsdjkfsk
.
43. Google Earth… always taking pictures (Descent, Part I S6E26)
This is almost completely for the aesthetics, not gonna lie. I love this shot of them by the shuttle, the scenery is just gorgeous. I also love how in-character they are in this scene, Worf doing his job very dutifully and Riker propping up a leg and gazing into the middle distance. Very nice. This has been this blog’s sidebar image since the beginning, and I’ve long given up trying to find one that I like better (´꒳`)♡
.
42. Battle Sequence (The Last Outpost S1E05)
This is peak 80s cheesiness. The thunder sound effects, the way Riker distracts the Ferengi so that Worf can get ready for an attack – and that amazing line of “I GOT THIS OOONE” just before Riker’s overpowered by a Ferengi, plus Data’s reaction. Oh, and also, Tasha Yar stepping in to end the whole fight (with thunder sound effects of course) and Worf and Riker positioning themselves behind her like the dream team they are. As trashy as season 1 is, I wish more of it was this kind of trashy.
.
41. Parrises squares (11001001 S1E15)
Another one that shows the amazing friendship of Tasha/Worf/Will that we could’ve gotten more of: Yar and Worf leave for a match of Parrises squares, already in their bright blue outfits. Riker checks Worf out, y’know, the usual. Worf jabs him with a sassy comment, because it’s season 1, y’know, the usual. It’s pretty standard considering the other moments on this list, but I adore it nonetheless, especially because of Tasha Yar ♡
.
40. Walking Through the Woods And??? Taking Cover(???) (Descent, Part II S7E01)
This is one of the ridiculous ones. Worf and Riker are investigating the planet where Lore and the Borg have trapped the crew and… they have interesting ways of sneaking around, e.g. Riker always staying behind Worf. And yes, they’re overly close to each other, we already know that. But then Riker straight up puts his hand on Worf’s bum when they have to take cover and I’m like… sweety, not THAT kind of “sneaky” lmaooo… It’s like straight out of a parody skit, I love it! (*´▽`*)
.
39. Fight Scene (Liaisons S7E02)
Another unnecessarily drawn-out moment of physical contact. Riker stops Worf from fighting the alien ambassador after some pretty racist bullshit that Worf had to endure, but in the end they both look rather clueless. I guess this is distilled Himbo Energy™? Anyway, before that there is a cute scene including Deanna in the observation lounge featuring funny Will and grumpy Worf. In general, “Liaisons” just has very good Worf moments over all! (just skip through the Picard scenes)
.
38. “Nice planet.” (Justice S1E08)
I truly can’t with this one. It’s a classic Worf one-liner, in fact this one started the whole Worf one-liner thing! The writers realised how great stuff like this fit his character and rolled with it. Here, Worf (rather wantonly?) hugs a blonde alien, then looks at Riker, who has been on the planet before, and says, “Nice planet” before burying his face in the crook of her neck again. Which implies?? That he thinks of this sexy planet as Riker’s planet?? Riker’s reaction is even better because he acts weirdly ‘caught’ or something haha! Maybe it’s the sight of cuddly Worf? Who knows…
.
37. On A Date (The Perfect Mate S5E21)
This is a small thing, but when Data and the alien woman enter Ten Forward, we see Riker and Worf sitting at a table and having drinks. They seem to have a fun little talk, and Worf looks a bit TOO dismissive for my taste when Riker leaves at the sight of the Data and the woman. Did they interrupt their little date? Who knows? Either way, them spending free time together, plus Riker’s soft “I’ll catch up with you later” is just cute (´꒳`)
.
36. The Poker Scene(s) (Cause and Effect S5E18)
These are casual moments: The senior staff is playing poker, Worf smirks a lot and says his one-liners, Riker does rather suggestive poker faces that scandalise poor Worf, yaddi yaddi yadda. These are cute little moments that every good comfort TV show should have ♡
.
35. “I have no desire to leave the Enterprise.” (Heart of Glory S1E20)
aka Worf The Liar. After a conversation with a Klingon in the Empire’s military, Worf slowly turns around on the bridge and sees… the whole crew. But Riker is front and center, even Picard isn’t as much in focus as he is. And then Worf says he only agreed to the Klingon’s offer to join the Empire’s forces out of politeness, and then doubles-down on it: “Really, I have no desire to leave the Enterprise.” Except, as we will learn later, if Commander Riker is leaving. Then I’ll leave too. Ciao ciao.
.
34. saving Will from a phaser (The Hunted S3E11)
Riker and Worf chase the escaped prisoner on the Enterprise, but gasp! He fires at the turbolift when the doors open! Worf reacts quickly and throws himself against Riker to get them out of the firing range. It’s… an interesting motion. They do get out eventually, and the subsequent fight may be a bit clumsy, but at least it’s them fighting together, y’know? This could have been some real whump or hurt/comfort shit if it wasn’t that small a moment. Not that I like to see someone get injured y’know just… the feelings™ of it all 👀
.
33. Shuttlebay Scene (Liaisons S7E02)
Towards the end of “Liaisons”, we get this cute moment where Worf and the alien ambassador talk about how exhausting eleven hours of holodeck combat exercise are, and what does Riker do? Slap poor Worf on his hurting back;; And then he grins that stupid grin of his!! Thanks for nothing!! For real though, Riker is teasing Worf throughout this episode, and it is kinda funny considering that Worf always just lets him. Amazing.
.
32. Comedic Duo™ (Sarek S3E23)
This one is similar in a small way to Spot Nr. 34, in that Worf tries to shield Will from the brawl that’s going on in Ten Forward – except this one is funny. Before they enter Ten Forward, Worf is like “No I haven’t noticed tempers going crazy, Commander!” – only to cut to them standing in the opened doors with Thee most priceless expressions when they see everyone inside throwing hands. And then: “Now I see what you mean.” Worf is my favourite comedian
.
31. Rescuing Alexander (New Ground S5E10)
For a change, a highly emotional one. The whole episode builds up to this dramatic moment: As soon as the crew realise that Alexander is inside the burning biolab, Riker shoots Worf the most concerned look, and they head to the lab together. Worf discovers brute strength when it comes to saving his son, and poor Riker is basically just accessory in this scene. He does rescue the gilvos though. But the fire, the tension, the ticking clock – this scene is so dramatic!! And it should be, this is about Worf and his family! It’s very Klingon, in a way, and I like that Riker takes a backseat to Worf’s and Alexander’s relationship, even though he’d make a perfect stepdad.
.
30. ♪ should I stay or should I go ♪ (Legacy S4E06)
You know that romantic trope where person A wants to go with B but B is like “stay here, it’s too dangerous”? And then Person A begrudgingly agrees or simply watches B leave in terror? And then B is extra motivated to fight and come back, so that they can be with A again? That is this scene. It’s Worf’s love language of “we go into danger together” vs. Riker’s classic hero shtick of “no, I’ll go alone, it’s too dangerous!” and it’s 100% what I’m here for.
.
29. Bar Confrontation Scene (Unification, Part II S5E08)
Boy, this scene is a lot. Worf sings Klingon opera before continuing his mission with Riker. They confront a Ferengi warship trader, a rather disgusting character, and Riker’s Starfleet speak doesn’t work at all with him. So, Riker looks over his shoulder, to Worf, who nods in silent understanding, and then Riker just… grabs the Ferengi and threatens him with the words “I will be very unhappy” fffffffff which – c’mon, you can’t tell me that he wasn’t putting on a show for Worf! This is Will Riker we’re talking about! Also amazing how Worf doesn’t even have to say a single word in this whole scene. Love it, real dream team energy.
.
28. boyfriends taking a golden hour stroll (Descent, Part II S7E01)
Loooove this one, even though it’s basically nothing haha! The dialogue is very dramatic, but if you’re just looking at gifs for example, it looks very calm and soft. Also… the way Worf listens to Riker is just… I want to be looked at that way aaaaah;;
.
27. “No! For Battle, come to me!” (The Last Outpost S1E05)
Ah, yes. One of Worf’s friends being threatened with death and Worf very lionheartedly jumping in à la “you should rather fight a KLINGON because KLINGONS like fighting they’re WARRIORS arrrgh”. Only this time said friend is Commander Riker, and he orders Worf to stay back, because that’s what a commander does, he tries to keep his officers out of danger. And Worf looks… struck? Kinda? It’s a very cute, very early moment in their history together.
I’m linking a fic rec revolving around this moment here too!
.
26. Scruffy Bar Scene (Gambit, Part I S7E04)
This scene has cute outfits, badass phaser action from both Beverly and Deanna, sweater paws, and about Thee greatest comedic timing in all of TNG. I love that they put Worf and Will as the dream team who has to do the talking, and I also appreciate that Worf wears red and Will wears blue – aka the colours they look best in respectively (o˘◡˘o)
.
25. “Even Klingons need love now and then.” (Justice S1E08)
After that “nice planet” incident, this is where the episode is all in on those early TNG vibes. Riker gets invited for a (sexual?) game, in-between a bunch of aliens making out. He declines and instead walks up to Worf, with the widest grin, to talk to him… about sex. Bravo, Commander, very subtle. “Even Klingons need love” shut up just say you want to sleep with him goddammit shdjfsdksk Also the way Worf just casually talks about his sex life… wild. This could only happen in season 1. Also, fun fact, instead of “I better check in”, Riker says, “I’ll beam us back up” in the German dub, which… Do you want a room or something???
.
24. Worf All Dolled Up (Elementary, Dear Data S2E03)
Another outrageous moment of Riker barely keeping it in his pants. Worf arrives at the holodeck in a Victorian get-up and then has to endure a whole 30s of Riker checking him out, smirking at him, and making innuendo comments. “Nice suit” I could understand as a winky-winky bro joke™, even with the suspicious leg movement, but “You’d be a big hit in London”??? Hello?? Also poor Worf processing what he just heard sdjfsjdkfk! They definitely made out as soon as Picard and Data entered the holodeck!! (Also sidenote: When Picard pops the hat into its correct form, everybody flinches in a very in-character way. It’s very cute ♡)
.
23. Gay (Eye of the Beholder S7E18)
I’m pretty sure this scene is entirely taking place inside Deanna’s mind, but that doesn’t make it any less great haha! Worf and Will sitting at the bar and smiling at each other, talking about romance very casually… it’s so so cute. And don’t forget Worf trying to ask Will if he can try things out with Deanna shdfjksdfksdksk this scene is especially cute for those who enjoy Worf/Riker/Troi!
(Also never forget the mirroring of the two flirting officers in the background lmao this is iconic)
.
22. “He wouldn’t…” – “Yes, he would” (Star Trek: Insurrection)
This is honestly such a fun scene. It looks like the Enterprise, in command of William T. Riker, is about to ram the enemy’s ship. “He wouldn’t…” one of the enemy aliens says. Cut to Worf, surrounded by alien guards, saying completely casually, “Yes, he would.” Which makes the first alien panic like oh shit” and run away from the view screen for some reason??? Lol it doesn’t make any sense, but I enjoy the space action, the comedic timing, and the shot of Worf sitting in-between the enemy aliens. *mwah chef’s kiss.
I have two main ways to read Worf’s relaxed reaction: either he trusts Will 100% to not ram and destroy the ship – or he’s content with dying this way after all, as a hero, in a battle he fought with his commander. Either way, I think this scene shows their deep loyalty and trust rather nicely!
.
21. “Thank you.” (The Next Phase S5E24)
The Enterprise assists a Romulan ship in need. Worf and Riker are among the officers who are onboard the warbird and help the crew. Worf reports to Riker in a rather scandalised tone of voice bc he doesn’t like the Romulans, and they have a very intimate way of talking in the scene I’m describing – after a cute “aye, sir” Worf shuffles back to Riker to say, “Thank you” in… that voice. And then bumps Riker’s shoulder as he leaves, and Riker just smiles very softly.
I can’t be sure of course, but the whole thing feels to me as if this was Dorn’s and Frakes’ millionth take of the scene and they could barely keep it together shdfjskdfksk very cute!! Also another scene from that episode that almost made it into this ranking: Worf and Riker having to close the damaged doors to eject the core but not being able to do it, despite being literally the biggest guys in the crew – but thankfully Data comes along does the whole thing himself sdfhjskdjfsk
.
20. “How did you like Command (sexual)?” (The Emissary S2E20)
This belongs to the ones that leave me… kinda speechless? I mean, I understand he’s proud of his Lieutenant, but Riker has nooo business walking up to K’Ehleyr and Worf (both in their Klingon armour) the way he does – checking them out with THAT look on his face, lips falling apart, and asking, “How did you like Command?” – excuse me? Mister Frakes, sir?! But Worf’s reaction makes it EVEN BETTER sdfjskdksk, he looks kinda caught off-guard, understandably! Only to then look over his shoulder to K’Ehleyr like “excuse me, this is my… other partner?” and then he’s simply like… “Comfortable chair”. And K’Ehleyr looks to the ground like she’s trying very hard to hold her tongue sjdfhskjdsk and Riker smirks at them and… yeah. That’s season 2 for you.
.
19. Sitting Shoulder To Shoulder (A Matter of Time S5E09)
This one’s a classic on this blog already. Two things beside the general physical closeness that I love especially about this scene: a) how unnecessary them sitting like this is (and how the acting directions were most likely “hands where I can see them”) and b) how Riker defends Worf when the historian throws some racist bullshit his way. Even though the historian paints Worf as the primitive barbarian, Riker is far more aggressive than Worf in this scene. It’s a nice little touch, that he would get worked up about someone insulting Worf this way. But yeah, even if you just look at screenshots from this scene, it’s very nice, them sitting shoulder to shoulder and exchanging quiet looks ♡
.
18. The Second Sickbay Scene (Ethics S5E16)
Oof. I don’t like to rewatch this episode, but the sickbay moments are very good. In this second scene, Riker has the ritual dagger with him but still refuses to help Worf. By now, he has had time to think about Worf’s request and even talked to Picard about it. Here’s where the episode completely destroys me: Picard says, “Klingons choose their friends with great care” and the script really says the word “friend” or “friendship” often in a Worf/Riker context – but what Riker says to Worf in this second sickbay scene, among other things, is “How many people on this ship consider you a friend? How many owe you their lives? Have you ever thought about how you've affected the people around you?” The fact that he separates the “friends” part from the “how you've affected the people around you”, plus that blinking he does right before he says it – makes me want to microwave myself – I’m sorry, this is too much for me too handle. bye
.
17. “You do this everyday?” (Where Silence Has Lease S2E02)
A truly astonishing scene. Worf and Riker do some combat training/ Klingon calisthenics in the holodeck, which is fun to watch on its own. But after all the enemies are defeated, Worf turns against Riker with some hearty growling and snarling. Riker has to snap him out of his (blood)lust by calling, “At ease, Lieutenant!” – a sentence that will become important later this episode… For real I love this scene so much. Worf says that other programmes are “too personal to be shared” and uses the same calisthenics programme, in the same way, a few episodes later before he sleeps with K’Ehleyr. Like??? Does this even count as subtext anymore??? Ahh!!! Besides that, I also love the way they exit the holodeck – “Coming, Commander?” – “Right behind you.” ♡
.
16. Tired Dad and Whimsical Dad (Phantasms S7E06)
This is SUCH a good scene. It’s a moment of humour, levity and domesticity, right up until the turbolift doors open. Worf complains to Riker about having gifted Alexander a “music programme”, whatever exactly that is, but apparently it’s robbing Worf of his sleep at night. Riker thinks it’s amazing, of course, because it’s jazz. And because Alexander seems to like it very much. I have… no words. It’s just nice to see them acting as (quasi)dads ♡
.
15. The First Sickbay Scene (Ethics S5E16)
“Ethics” is a really emotional episode, as pointed out above, but I prefer this scene over the one where Riker outright confronts Worf. Here, he comes in grinning, tilting his head ever so playfully, and greets Worf with “You look pretty good for someone who's been eating sickbay food for three days”, which is cute on its own too. He also has a very soft bedside manner with Worf and says “Name it” in a very Klingon-esque way when Worf asks him for a favour. Of course, the favour is something that completely takes Riker by surprise, in a rather dramatic turn of events. And then Worf looks for words, and what he decides on is “please”. Yeah I’m fine :)
.
14. The Most Beautiful Sight (Silicon Avatar S5E04)
A simple™ entry on this list: Riker, all beat up and exhausted already, thinks someone is after them, only to realise Worf has come to their rescue. And what does he say to his saviour? “Mister Worf, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more beautiful sight”, Jim Kirk-esque hearteyes and messy hair included. It’s a very soft scene with slight hurt/comfort vibes, which I adore.
.
13. The Icarus Factor (S2E14)
Just… all of it. It’s making me furious how this episode very openly implies that yeah, Worf is majorly distressed, screaming at his friends and fellow officers etc. because he fears losing Riker. All of this episode is wild, but the scene where Worf comes to Riker’s quarters to talk about leaving the Enterprise together… fumbling with his hands, blatantly changing the subject for procrastination, “Words are not always… easy for me” bitch!! What is this?? Fanfiction?? The angst is sooo perfect in this scene, because of course, Riker doesn’t even want to go. But now another one of his friends asks him to take the assignment, so they can go on some “dangerous mission” together… It’s a lot. I adore it, even though it’s kinda sad to watch. 10/10.
.
12. “I love surprise parties!” (Parallels S7E11)
“Parallels” is a lot, too lol. It’s a great Worf episode and shows him not only in very serious/dramatic but also funny and even romantic moments. And it’s fun to imagine what OTHER universes Worf might have crossed into… The opening scene with him and Riker is especially great. Worf doesn’t like surprises, but Riker does – Worf doesn’t like that party hat, but Riker does – and the way he beams at Worf… just very cute! Also there’s a more serious scene later in that episode with Worf talking to AU!Riker, who is a captain, and they exchange rather wistful looks in the end…
.
11. “At ease, Lieutenant, at ease…” (Where Silence Has Lease S2E02)
The callback to the sentence Riker used to calm Worf down earlier this episode. Worf is mad at the ghostly USS Yamato (featuring the brilliant line “One Riker! One bridge!”) and doesn’t even answer to Riker calling out his name anymore. So, Riker turns him around by his shoulder and… well. Worf looks like he’s about to eat him alive. Nice snarling from him, and nice taking a step backwards to the wall from Riker. Worf only calms down when Riker dOmiNanTLy raises his chin. And then, to calm himself, Worf murmurs, “At ease, Lieutenant, at ease” as he walks away – the same words Riker yelled at him earlier this episode. I’m… truly at a loss of words I love this so much sdfjsdkksk. Maybe the kinkiest Worfriker moment.
(The German dub changed it into “Never mind, Commander, I’m all calm now” and I honest to God don’t know how to feel about that)
.
10. “I will go with you.” (The Outcast S5E17)
To start the Top Ten: a moment from near the end of TNG’s (in)famous “queer episode”. Riker has decided to go down to the planet against Starfleet regulations to save his beloved Soren from her transphobic oppressors, and when Worf comes to his quarters under some pretext, they have a very lovely conversation – Worf knows what Riker is planning to do and wants to go with him, even though he was charactarised as pretty much queerphobic earlier this episode. Seems like he had a change of heart and is willing to risk his career as first Klingon in Starfleet to support Riker.
It’s that situation from “Legacy” – “I will go with you” vs. “it’s too dangerous, I’ll go alone” – only this time Worf wins. Because “a warrior does not let a friend face danger alone”. Boy. Wow. i’m.
As if this episode wasn’t soul crushing enough already!!! Urgh!!! The ending always makes me bawl.
.
9. “I want to ensure your return to this ship.” (A Matter of Honor S2E08)
Ahh, yes. Thee Klingon episode. I love Riker’s exchange programme to pieces, but Worf as a contrast to the Klingons on the Pagh is very enjoyable on his own. He stops Riker before the transport, to give him an emergency transporter. “Sentiment?” Riker asks, to which Worf simply replies, “I want to ensure your return to this ship”, and they exchange very cute looks.
Earlier Worf told Riker how Klingon officers might kill their superiors, so my read is that he realised he might lose his precious Commander if he doesn’t think of something shdfjsdkfksk. I love this very much. It shows how early TNG!Worf was willing to work his way around his culture’s more toxic (or in this case: deadly) traditions in order to come up with the best result for himself and his loved ones. It’s a trait he sadly loses as the show goes on, but I really enjoy the way it’s playing out in this scene.
.
8. Cold Opener Scene --- aka The Dress (Liaisons S7E02)
What can I say? I Am Not Immune To “You look good in a dress”. There is little to say about this scene other than I think it’s about as perfect as shippable moments come in Star Trek. There’s alien nonsense, calling out of sexist attitudes, Gay™, and smiley Riker and flustered Worf. What else could you wish for?
.
7. Worf cradling Will (Conspiracy S1E25)
Ahh… my Weakness. Worf finds Riker unconscious on the floor in-between hundreds of glass shards, beneath a ton of flowers and the starry sky outside – and cradles him, very gently. Exhaling softly when he realises Riker is still alive. Taking MUCH too long to realise that this is a trap of the Admiral. The way he is not at all ready for fighting and 100% in care mode is very telling for s1 Worf. It’s a very soft, Lord of the Rings-esque scene with great aesthetics. I love it;;
.
6. Frame of Mind (S6E21)
The whole episode, no matter how nightmarish, is a testament to the deep relationships between Riker and his crewmates. Only the last few scenes are “real”, the rest takes place inside Riker’s mind, where his friends represent different aspects of his personality. The episodes implies that Worf is his ‘actions’ or something, but when you read into it (i.e. overanalyse 👀) it seems like Worf is Riker’s sense of security! He’s constantly warning him or wanting to help him get out of danger, which is really sweet considering that this is what Riker truly sees Worf as ♡
My favourite shot in the episode is the one with the pendant above!
.
5. Worf returns to the Enterprise (Star Trek: First Contact)
During the battle against the Borg, the Defiant is rescued by the Enterprise in what’s easily one of the best scenes in the movie (oops hot take I don’t think First Contact is the best TNG movie 👀). After the rescue, Worf returns to the Enterprise bridge and is greeted by his fellow officers. Riker comments on the Defiant with, “Tough little ship” and the biggest hearteyes ever, which… makes me wonder if he’s actually talking about the ship, y’know.
It gets better when Picard tells Worf he could help at Tactical, and Riker just follows Worf to his console and asks, “You do remember how to fire phasers?” with his signature grin. I’m almost completely sure both lines were supposed to be dick jokes (y’know, ‘cause they’re both men! haha!) but Dorn’s and Frakes’ acting simply doesn’t allow for that reading imo sdfhjskdfsk. I LOVE the ex-boyfriend vibes.
.
4. ‘Owon Eggs (Time Squared S2E13)
Ahh, Thee domestic scene. It’s so cute, from start to finish – Riker singing as he prepares food. Only greeting Worf when the fellow officers arrive. Messing up the scrambled eggs. Data not even trying them. Worf digging in. And then saying, “Delicious” in that tone of voice. Riker smiling full of hearteyes at the compliment. *mwah true chef’s kiss! Perfect!
Little else to say lmao, except it only got better when an anonymous asker pointed out that Will definitely bought these specific eggs because he knew that Worf liked them. Just… the perfect galaxy brain take to make this cute scene even cuter sdfjsdkfjsk
.
3. Ending Scene (A Matter of Honor S2E08)
This outrageous episode needs an adequate ending, and boy, do Riker and Worf deliver. Riker, all beat up, is back aboard the Enterprise and Picard tells Worf to accompany him to sickbay. Riker moves toward Worf with that very gay little swing that I 100% adore.
On their way, they exchange a very cute dialogue with casual touches, soft smiles, some more checking out from Riker, and the completely unwarranted and outrageous line “Welcome home” from Worf. Like…………………. sweety…………………………chill No ‘sir’, no joke, nothing! Just Worf smiling at Riker and Riker smiling back and ARGH! I’m SOFT! They’re HOME! (ಥ﹏) brb i’m emo lmaooo

2. “Aren’t you going to mingle, Mr. Woof?” (Dark Page S7E07)
I loooove this scene!! There’s a reception at Ten Forward and Lwaxana Troi, of all people, starts a conversation with Worf and Riker (who have been standing way too close to just “talk” 👀). When she asks, “Aren’t you going to mingle, Mr. Woof?” neither Worf nor Riker correct her. On the contrary, Riker takes great delight in seeing Worf’s expression, and he sways and grins like a child.
But his expression changes when Worf says he’s genuinely uneasy around the telepathic aliens, like “aww, babe, I understand”. They’re just so cute…! And also a comedic duo: When Lwaxana tells them both that their minds aren’t “sophisticated enough” to be read by the telepaths – their expressions are priceless hjdfksjdskdjsk
.
1. Peak Performance (S2E21)
Is this a surprise to anyone? I don’t think so lol. There is much to enjoy about this whole episode, from Data’s strategema duel to Riker connecting more to his crew, but more than that… this is also The Worfriker Show. I can’t even put everything shippable about here in detail, it’s too much, so I’ve linked the tag on the blog.
The scene in Worf’s quarters is outrageous on its own (“Join me” – “The honour is to serve”), complete with checking out the naked Kahless statue, then the weirdly intimate Strategema scene (“I will be… irritated”), the whole “I need you by my side” shtick yaddi yaddi yadda what’s all this. What’s “Klingon guile” (affectionate). I don’t even know anymore. My brain melts every time I watch this episode because it’s that much. Peak early TNG – a Peak Performance, you might say. It’s the true season finale imo, and I could write an essay about every single scene in it. Just… perfect! My top spot!
.
Thank you for reading until now haha, you’re great! ♡

#this felt like writing a guest episode of shippers guide to the galaxy lol#the gifs are all mine that's why there's no extra credit!#i hope you discover some new moments or that your favourite was in here haha <3#text post#ep. multiple#riker x worf#*#again 500 followers is huge thank you!! ❤️❤️❤️

Would I get on with them? - CSI
Starting this series with CSI characters since I'm most into the show right now.
Hopping into it under the cut! (Not proof read at all)
Gil Grissom
Ok, I don't think this man would hate me in the slightest but he'd take a sec to warm up to me. We know the man has loads of random knowledge in his brain and so do I but I sometimes just spurt it out at the most random times and most of the knowledge doesn't make sense. We wouldn't hang out at all but I feel like we could eat lunch in the breakroom together and it wouldn't be awkward at all? We could also do a car journey together and it'd be silent most of the way until one of us eventually broke the silence. The silence wouldn't have been awkward though it would just be natural, both in our brains thinking things over? I get the vibe he'd welcome me into the team pretty well and would defend me to others but also would be disappointed when I fuck up. I think our vibes are slightly the same so we'd get on and have a weird friendship but not going on. TBH he'd probably treat me very similar to how he treats Greg but slightly nicer. In summary I would get on with him but not in a best friend kind of way.
Catherine Willows
I get the vibe she'd like me and would find me funny in a way with the awful jokes I tell but instead of finding the jokes funny she'd just find me and my awkwardness funny? However, she would not let me fuck up and would go in on me bad if I did if I was in the first couple of years being a CSI but after our friendship grew a little she'd be a lot more forgiving. We'd probably get to a friendship point of being able to have a meal together or a drink together but we would never plan it? It'd only happen say after a shift on a whim together. We'd be close but not best friends knowing absolutely every aspect of each other's lives. All in all Catherine has good vibes and I think we'd get on. I'd want to be her friend and learn from her. We'd be able to throw banter around and we'd be able to work well together. She'd probably see me as more of a 'family member' than a friend if you get my drift?
Sara Sidle
I love Sara but I do not think we'd get on at first. I think she'd dislike how shy I was and how long it takes me to warm up to everyone. My main way of bonding or working with people initially is kinda through humour to test the waters and I know she wouldn't like that at first. However, I think after her initial dislike for me for the first couple of cases or weeks or whatever I think she'd realise we actually work well together on cases and compliment each other with our working style? Then she'd slowly be more friendly and jokey with me and open up herself. We'd take a long time to be close friends with each other and I think the only way our friendship would grow is because of our friendship with others in the team. So would I get on with Sara? Not initially but let's say after like 6 months we might have lunch together. I do admire her and her work but... yeah I think we might be a bit too similar in some ways. I think eventually after we build up trust and a mutual understanding we'd then be friends and do things together outside of work (but it doesn't happen often because she'd invested in her work)
Warrick Brown
Now this is hard to say. I think initially he'd try to be open and welcoming but would have a little too much going on to care but would banter with me if we came across each other. He's serious on the job but a lil hot headed, I mean I'm the same but I tend to internalise it and not speak out about problems and might just cry about them? He'd probably try and argue a point and even if I agreed I would probably not say something if I was still new to the team and he'd probably get mad at me for it. However, I think I might break through with him with my humour or something really random or like a random fact which is so bizzare he's like 'who the fuck is she?' and laughs it off and enjoys it. I feel like we'd eventually be friends but not in a way to talk about our lives irl more like if we've had a long shift and need to pull a double and haven't stopped for food he'd throw a sandwich or coffee at me. So friends in a caring or sibling like way y'know? Banter but not completely open with each other but we know little facts here and there. We'd hold mutual friends and that'd what probably aids the friendship. So would I get on with him? Initially no fucking way but after a hot sec yeah.
Nick Stokes
Here he is, here's our boi. Now yes I may be bias here because I do like Nick but I genuinely think we'd get on because we're both kinda emotionally softies on the inside. However, initially he might get frustrated at how closed off I am and awkward when he tried to speak to me, giving short answers etc. But once I crack some awkward and nervous jokes he'd realise how nervous I am and try and get through to me in that way with jokes and banter. I think he'd actually help if I fucked something up or missed something and would point it out in a nice way compared to how someone like Sara would. I think he'd open up to me randomly? Also I feel we could chat shit randomly to each other y'know? I think we'd be in a weird friends stage for a long time and then it would get to best friend territory? Y'know? Going to see movies or hanging out outside of work. Also hard cases we'd support each other. I think my friendship with Nick would be the thing that helps my friendship with Warrick for sure and aids with Sara. So would we get on? Yeah we would and he'd question why Sara and I don't.
Greg Sanders
He's chaos. I can be chaos. He'd appreciate my jokes and would banter back. Would be on the same wave length a lot of the time I think. I think I'd be the more chill version of him in some ways? Idk. I think we'd be friends and he'd be the person I build a friendship with the fastest. Like I think it would be he and I friends first, then Nick and I, Catherine and I then the others after. He'd obviously try to flirt with me because it's Greg but he'd respect me? We'd probably go for coffee a lot and he'd want to give me a tour of Vegas or some shit if I hadn't been there long. He'd probably get frustrated though at how chill I can be sometimes but would enjoy the fact that I was also friends with Nick and if all three of us were put on a case? Well that would be funny and would make a great episode. Don't get me wrong though we'd work well together. So would we get on? Hell yeah!
David Hodges
I don't think he'd dislike me but he wouldn't entirely like me either but he'd have a respect for me? I'd tolerate him and would joke with him though but I wouldn't say we'd be close friends or anything. Once he finds out I also like Galaxy Quest (idk I like Star trek irl so I'd probably like galaxy quest) we'd talk about it occasionally and might go to a convention together if we had no one else. So would we get on? Slightly, we'd tolerate each other and make friendly conversation.
Henry Andrews
I think we could have a laugh and a joke and that's it. I'd probably want to be his friend more than I do Hodges but we're both very awkward but we'd have a respect and understanding for each other. I would go to his birthday celebration if I was asked too. So would we get on? Yeah...
SuperDave
Eh I think we'd just have a basic friendship and very much colleague relationship. I don't think he'd appreciate my humour at all and would just want to do his job. But if I was with someone else on the team or if Doc Robbins was also there he'd be a bit more friendly? He has super super nice vibes I just think we're both a little too awkward and closed off and we probably wouldn't be able to go past small talk or work related talk. So would we get on? Yeah in a colleague sort of way.
Doc Robbins
(Lmao i can't insert anymore gifs)
I think he'd enjoy my jokes and would explain things in a nice way if I didn't understand but we'd never be friends or anything. I think he'd respect me and enjoy my presence in the morgue but we wouldn't engage in like intentional real life talk. So not purposefully asking about family etc. Maybe something random would come out in an autopsy or whatever. So would we get on? Yeah more that Superdave and I would
Jim Brass He wouldn't hate me but I wouldn't be his favourite person. I tend to stay out of trouble so he'd like that the most. He'd probably appreciate that I stay quiet and listen before having an input. He'd probably worry about me though if I was held hostage or shot or something y'know? He wouldn't not care. So would we get on? Yeah in the same way Grissom and I would get on but slightly less that that.
LMAO this series is gonna be weird af but it is what it is. I don't expect anyone to read it. Hence not proof reading.
#Would I get on with them?#CSI#CSI Vegas#totaly self indulgent#I really just did everyone didn't i?#yeah this is too much man#this is me#but twilight characters next?

interview with a fanfic author tag game!
this game was originally posted by @/goldenavenger02, so i've been told, and i was tagged by @neitherlightnordark ! thanks💙 i'll be honest, i haven't properly written fanfic in a long while- the knitting circle thing and last night's seam thing were brought on by a surge of deltarune-induced inspiration. i'm honored to be considered a fanfic author, though <3 this got, uh, REALLY long as well. i just don't talk about this stuff much! it's fun, i've decided!
1. your favorite fic that you've written, or just one you want to give a shoutout to
uhhh lemme try to remember some of my old fics lol,,,, the problem is that i wrote a lot of fanfic back like a year or so ago for a completely different fandom than utdr (kotlc), and most of my current followers would not know or care about it djdjdjdsjs, but for what it's worth, i'm really proud of the lancer+rouxls+ralsei knitting thing i did like a few days ago. that one started as a simple headcanon about them knitting together, and snowballed as soon as i'd written the first line. i'm also very proud of last night's seam fanfic💙 i can't embed links here but i've rbed it a couple times today cause i really like it so just scroll down my blog a bit if you wanna read it. it's not titled, none of my fics are, but you'll know when you see it cause it's the only recent post of mine that has proper capitalization lol
i'm also very proud of some of my very old kotlc fics. particularly the one about sophie and music. almost no one reading this will get it lmao
2. your favorite fic title that you've come up with?
uhhh i don't really do fic titles lmao. the thing is, i'm bad at plot and conflict, so most of my fics are super vignette-y and don't really have anything that would sound good as a title
3. how do you get inspiration to write?
i don't <3 but seriously, like i said before, i haven't properly written in ages. i think if i'm passionate enough about something, and i have faith in myself to do the characters justice, i can end up churning out vignette-style fics that mostly just muse on a character, or two characters. like the seam thing was born out of my myriad of inexplicable feelings about seam and the seam-is-toriel's-plushie theory. i just really wanted to show my love for it! and there's already like. basically no seam-tent out there so we can always use more💙
some fandoms i feel are far too big for me to write about- like star trek, for instance. i posted about that a lot a while back, and i wanted to write for it officially, but i was always worried i'd missed an episode that would contradict what i said. deltarune and undertale and kotlc are easier. they're small, contained universes that i can be sure i know all about.
4. your favorite genre/subgenre of fic to write
uhhh i don't know if i have one! i mostly write character-focused vignette-style fics that don't have much of a plot, so i don't write many of the popular aus (coffee shop, mafia, etc)
5. do you have any other hobbies?
not really <3 i have INTERESTS of course. but things i enjoy doing? nah :) i dabble in piano though. i can play once upon a time and fallen down💙
6. pick one character to self-project onto, go!
ooh... alphys, kris, or queen? gah, which one? i gotta give you those three lol sorry they're all just so. just SO. like. with kris it's just socially awkward closed-off nby teenager solidarity <3 and with alphys it's oh my god self-loathing nerd who constantly worries their friends hate them and who gets really really excited about their interests?? same hat!! and queen's a similar situation to data from star trek. i've been thinking a lot lately about her potential inability to understand other people and social situations and many of the finer points in life (romance, etc) and as an autistic person. yeah <3
7. your favorite genre of music.
ooh! i don't know! i mostly listen to upbeat stuff- i don't like most slow songs. of course, lately it's just been the dr chapter 2 soundtrack on loop. i am so normal about cyber battle and a cyber's world and attack of the killer queen i am the NORMALEST
8. your favorite singer/band.
... uh. hm. queen, marina, mika, or good old toby fox? all of those people. i would like to listen to more things besides dr stuff but i don't have as much time lately. the aboves are some of my all-time favorites, though!
9. and finally, how has your experience with fandom been?
really really good! i know all fandoms have toxic people in it and i've definitely seen more misgendering of the utdr humans than i care to. but i generally just block anyone who does that and surround myself with fun people <3
this was fun! it ended up being very long. but fun! tagging @cadence-talle , a very talented writer💙
#deltarune#...i guess??#lynn you don't need to do this if you've already been @ ed but you're brilliant so :-)

April 25: 2x16 The Gamesters of Triskelion
Finally watched some more Star Trek. I feel like it’s been forever...
Today’s ep is The Gamesters of Triskelion, which is... okay. It’s not terrible but I think its best aspects are the most familiar: the type of alien, the moral values at play; and its weakest are its most unique.
I think Spock likes it when Kirk says “mind the store.” What a folksy human thing to say!
Plus now that he’s Captain he gets to sit in the chair.
This conversation between Spock and Scotty is hilarious. “I’m assuming you mean they disappeared in an unusual way??” “Uh, yeah?? Do you think I’m dumb?”
This alien looks like Lady Gaga c. 2010
Kirk is being very Dramatic today.
Come on, Spock, gotta get your man.
You know Spock is worried when he mentions hope. That is, as McCoy says, a human emotion.
“Collars of obedience.” Kinky.
Stylish pink jail.
I’m really feeling this Spock and Bones interaction today. That’s a great eyebrow lift.
If the random alien is leaving, Uhura must have been his ass down.
“Nourishment interval.” We need to bring this into our modern vocabulary.
Not one, but TWO ladies in command gold today (one at Communications, and one at Spock’s station).
Wild aquatic fowl.
I feel like this episode is another example of a writer putting her alien sex fantasy on television. Like, a hardcore alien sex fantasy. The obedience collars, the training harness, the whipping, the weird flirtation between Chekov and his “training thrall”--herself a very androgynous alien, just to throw some gender play in there.
Kirk turning up the charm again. I missed Charming!Kirk. I mean, picking up a silver platter to use as a mirror and saying “That’s beautiful”? This man has no shame.
I feel like this episode shows how Spock’s logic is actually a very effective life strategy. He’s facing a very mysterious situation with high stakes--literally his best friend/soulmate/captain lost, plus two more crewmen--but he isn’t defeatist like McCoy or defensive like Scotty. He just follows the evidence, even when the evidence seems wild. And he was right.
Detective Kirk time!
“Are they computers?” He’s hoping so, since he’s very good at defeating computerized enemies.
Could it be instead another example of aliens who have transcended their physical bodies?
He is really laying the charm offensive on thick here.
I get how people have vague memories of TOS and remember Kirk as slutty, because certainly there are lots of shots of him kissing ladies, but like... 90% of the time he's using charm as a weapon, like he doesn't like Lady Gaga, he just wants to get off this planet.
“Love, for one thing.” Time for Kirk to be a Romantic Nerd again. He sure does love love!!
See imo just as it’s ridiculous for him to limit love to being one of the most important things on Earth, since he barely even spends any time on Earth and his general thesis is about what all intelligent creatures can care about besides their basic needs being met by “Providers,” I think it’s silly to limit love to being between men and women. And just as he’s kinda lying about the Earth thing, I think he’s lying about the heterosexual thing.
People in love “live together, help each other, make each other happy.” I love his definitions of love!! Like with Edith, he center helping each other in the definition.
McCoy and Scotty think they can take on Spock lmao. The Captain’s life is at stake; he’s not fooling around. And he’s right too so y’all can shush!!
Honestly, that leaning down to talk quietly to them--I know it’s because he doesn’t want to say the word “mutiny” too loud where other people can hear him, but it really reads like he’s mocking them.
Shauhna is harassed at work.
Spock’s like ‘screw a landing party, I will retrieve my space husband by myself... and I guess McCoy can come too.’
McCoy’s voice was the one Kirk heard but he still calls out to Spock.
Mmm, yes, disembodied alien brains.
I like the painted background behind them, too. Which is apparently stolen from Devil in the Dark. S2 needs more painted backgrounds.
“You think YOU’RE competitive? A race that does nothing but gamble? Well you’ve never met humans lol.”
Since when has Kirk ever competed for a woman? Hardly a competition when he always wins.
“Fresh thrall” something so... ugh about that phrase.
Ah, yes, an Andorian.
I’m starting to feel like this is Spock’s Pre-Reform Vulcan Sex Fantasy.
I feel like Shauhna will eventually become the leader of the Triskellion people. My mom thinks it would be cool for Kirk to meet her again in the future. I feel like there’s a fanfic in there somewhere...
“I didn’t lie, I just...lied.”
Honestly, don’t bother leaving everything to these disembodied colorful brains, just take Shauhna with you and enlist her in Starfleet. Or at least, like, high school.
...And after all that she STILL has a crush on Kirk. The man is too powerful.
What, no return to the Enterprise? No Kirk appearing shirtless on the bridge? No everyone acknowledges that Spock was right the whole time? No awkward little joking time?
I guess perhaps Kirk is embarrassed.
So overall... again, B basically.
As far as commonly used tropes in Star Trek go, this one is actually one of my favorite ones. I like it more than “godlike man must be defeated” and probably even more than “computer runs society,” though not as much as “old Earth tech becomes sentient.” But generally speaking “aliens transcend corporeal bodies by becoming too smart” is a good trope and I like seeing the different spins on it: the Organians, who can choose corporeal bodies if they want and are incredibly peaceful; the aliens from Return to Tomorrow, who wish they still had bodies; the aliens from The Cage/The Menagerie, who do have bodies but can’t do much with them, who must rely on aliens they capture to do physical work on the planet’s surface for them; and these aliens, who are so bored they must rely on arbitrary wagers using enslaved aliens just to have something to do. There’s something sort of... sad but fitting about that fate. Understandable, awful, pathetic. Still, I wouldn’t call this my favorite take on the trope.
But the specifics of the story, outside the “brain-aliens trope,” I didn’t like so much. The BDSM kink stuff mixed in with like actual slavery made me super uncomfortable. I know it’s based on Ancient Rome but like... even though it was a clear bread and circuses situation, that was not what I was thinking of tbqh.
This is a good episode for showcasing Star Trek Values, which overall I would say are my values. I do see how some people today would criticize them for being a little... well. How to say it. Colonizer-savior. I completely disagree that this is the reading that should be given to them and in fact I think it’s a bad faith reading but people are the way they are and certain things are in vogue sometimes and not others, so. I just mean that when Kirk says that they (the Federation, one would assume) have helped other civilizations “progress” or whatever word he uses, it sounds a little like they came in and made alien societies better using their own values. But I would say that what we actually see, in specific examples throughout the series, is the Federation wanting the civilizations it interacts with to be free, in fact requiring members state to be free, and that is really the one value a free society can impose on others or require of others--choosing slavery or dominion is choosing to relinquish all future choices, and thus cannot be allowed by any society that values freedom. That catch-22 that we see so much now. So, my point is, I think the values Kirk epitomizes for the show are freedom, self-determination, and a certain conception of progress, too: the ability to grow and develop, the avoidance of stagnation. And certainly this episode shows a clear case: having everything provided for you in exchange for being the professional playthings of a bunch of disembodied brains is objectively bad! Surely we can all agree on that. But this obvious example is used as an excuse for Kirk to speechify on the topic of what a utopian future will look like, what the best of humans can be, and what the rest of the universe could be like if it learns from our best traits (and not our worst). Which is overall something I find very comforting.
I’d just been thinking, at the beginning of this episode, that I think S1 is a better Kirk season than S2. S2 has too many episodes that problematize his leadership or his heroism, or that barely even use him--even episodes like The Trouble With Tribbles that outright mischaracterize him imo. But this episode really was Classic Kirk and I appreciated that. We see him being charming, smart, selfless, strong, creative, romantic... coming in at the end to embody the utopian values of the series.
Spock was so well characterized and so smart and so heroic, too, that he kinda was the mvp for me, though... Don’t take away my Kirk stan card lol. Spock was just so In Command... You can see how he could become a captain later, even if being in command never really interested him much.
I don’t entirely get why Kirk bargained for the thralls to all stay and make their own government (or to be trained in self-governance by their enslavers... a whole different issue tbqh), given that it’s already been established that most/all of them have been kidnapped from other planets. Should they not be... returned?
And if most/all of them are 2nd or later generations, that’s a whole other complex issue that could perhaps use third party mediators or something...
I also wondered about Shahna's origins. Was she the descendant of another civilization that is native to the planet, or is it just that her people were kidnapped so much earlier that she herself, personally, has never lived anywhere else?
I think it both makes more sense and is a more fitting ending if it’s the first. It makes sense to me that the first peoples enslaved by the brains were natives of the planet: more convenient that way. Also, I think we need to see more alien planets with more than one humanoid or human-intelligence level species.
And, if her people are native to the planet, having them become leaders of their own right again and not just possessions of the glowing brains is more powerful. Otherwise it's kinda sad: yes, they can form their own government here, but they've still been robbed of their real history and their real homeland, which they don't even remember.
Also as my mom pointed out, it’s not clear the brains themselves are native to the planet. They could have been invaders--the last real thing they did before they started wagering fake money--and Shauhna’s people the natives.
I really did like Shahna a lot and I hope she becomes the leader of whatever government they set up and eventually does get to travel into space.
Imo this was one of those TOS eps where the potential back story and the hints of world building are more interesting than the actual story.
Also apparently the actor who played Galt was trying to walk in a gliding manner so it wouldn’t be clear what he was hiding under those robes and... I have to say, definitely wheels.
Next up is A Piece of the Action, one of my favorites. Great plot, great fun, great sci fi concept, great Kirk material!

Fic Writer Interview
Tagged by @allislaughter
Name: My name is A-Chan but other people call me Aya, so either one is fine tbh!
Fandoms: The amount of fandoms I read and am in...even as a lurker is a lot. There are fandoms I used to write for but the ones I’ve written in the last 5 years are: Star Trek (TOS/AOS/ENT and crossovers to other trek series), The Librarians, Leverage, and Yu Yu Hakusho. If you want to count series I have WIPs in but haven’t posted there’s: Stargate (Mostly SGA but sometimes it’s SGA/SG1 crossovers), Card Captor Sakura, and some Precure. Also wrote some for 1-2 C-Dramas and J-Dramas but I dunno if I’ll ever post them.
Where you post: I post on here, on ff.net, and AO3. Also, I share a LOT on discord. An incredible amount actually (as a few friends will attest to lmao)
Most Popular One-shot: Considering how I post on multiple platforms, my most popular oneshot on ff.net is Savior, a post-The Point of Salvation episode tag fic, which has the most favorites. On AO3, the fic with the most kudos is scars; they will not fade, but its power lessens over time and the one with the most comments is Husband, a fic of fic of the amazing Hieibara series “by way of design”.
Most Popular Multichap: All Things, though I’m not going to be updating it anytime soon and it’s also my first properly posted Trek fic which means it’s over 4 years old, so a lot has changed since then. There’s just been a lot of stories I haven’t posted that are multi-chapter mostly because in the past (like back in high school) I would start SO many stories and never finished them (I have about... 5? 6? abandoned series that way, maybe more) and I just don’t want to continue doing that same thing again. This story actually was intended as a one-shot that I created more chapters, thinking I would finish and then real life intervened.
Favorite story you’ve written so far: ...asking me to choose a favorite is just... too hard, especially since there’s so many WIPs I have that I really enjoyed writing.
Fic you were nervous to post: Honestly? Husband, only because the author of the fic is someone I admire and waiting to see their response to my work really was nerve-wracking until it happened and then I kinda screamed and flailed and floated in a ‘is this real???’ moment.
How do you choose your titles: Honestly, whatever goes. LOL Songs, poetry, quotes, things related to the story somehow that become relevant, or whatever.
Do you outline: No, not really, because for me an outline is kinda too rigid? I mean I outline when I write nonfiction/academic stuff -- it really needs that structure -- and sometimes I make timelines of things to figure out when things happen in context with each other, but it’s not necessarily like a fully detailed, mapped outline in the traditional sense. I kind of have the road trip approach, where some of the big, basic important things are covered (overall story/arc, what characters, fandom, pairings, kind of setting, etc) and the rest will discover itself? Coz you never know on a trip what could happen, even if you’ve figured out how long your trip is, your mode of transportation, money for food/lodging, where you’re going to sleep, where you’re gonna visit.
Complete: On A03, 8 works, on ff.net, 18, but a good chunk of those are really old. And I know I have at least 7? oneshots here that I haven’t transferred to either site yet. And 2 things I wrote for Spiced Peaches I also haven’t copied over. XD In general I actually have like... at least 9? Oneshots I’ve finished in the last few years I haven’t posted anywhere except maybe discord so...
In progress: ...you really don’t want to know. I mean. You do? I have a chronic massive wip problem. I’ve even made a post about it 3 years ago here when it was a measly 325+. I’m sure it’s over 600 now. Yeah. Don’t be like me.
Coming soon/not yet started: That’s the thing: I either work on it, or it just...doesn’t exist. Whether I complete it is a different story lmao.
Prompts?: I like prompts, generally, but I haven’t taken them in awhile mostly because I haven’t been in the right headspace for them. My executive dysfunction has been all over the place -- I’m surprised I’ve managed to actually just do the basics for myself recently.
Upcoming work you’re most excited about: The thing I’ve been working the most on this month is basically this semi-AU where Spock and McCoy have met before being on the Enterprise, and Spock was taking a life drawing class and McCoy was one of three life models for said class. They have a meaningful encounter that changes things for them but they don’t meet again until they serve on the ship. I’m just stoked over Spock as an artist but as one of his various hobbies and McCoy as his (somewhat) muse/model.
TAGGING: Whoever feels like doing this because I’m kinda bad at picking people but some off the top of my head @onlyslightlyobsessed1 and @lenievi but anyone is free to do this!
#tag game#a-chan talks writing#about fanfiction#so many of my friends just say 'you've written so much why don't you post it even if it's wips' and well that way lies madness my friends#because that's all that would be posted is wips and nothing finished and it's horrible#i want to finish a story and just post that in its entirety#which means naturally only one-shots or very very short chaptered pieces come up but most of my multichaptered stories end up WAY too long#like...10K+ min#also my friends say it's a travesty i only share among them and not the greater world and i cry#just also checked ff.net and my record for unfinished stories is 18. eighteen that's riduclous even though that's over a span of 6 years but#STILL DO NOT BE ME OK lmao#that's the lesson y'all should take back from that

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 for the writing ask- I AM SO SORRY I COULDNT STOP!!! xoxo
aaaah these questions look SO GOOD thank you so much <3 <3 for this ask meme, which will be open all weekend!
1. tell us about your current project(s) – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?
i pulled open all of my WIP google docs for this and my laptop started whirring ominously, lmao. this is going to be a Little Long but i love talking about my wips so who cares!! (under the cut because EXCERPTS)
guys and dolls but gay - very, very casual rewrite of guys and dolls if sky masterson was a woman. i’m loving how chill i’m being about this one because it’s so much fun to not have to worry how i’m going to write lyrics in a not-weird way and just focus on the story. this one’s first because it’s theoretically closest to being finished.
sky, laughing: “oh? people. all the people you turn down every day. well, i imagine there’s someone out there that’ll catch your eye.”
sarah, stiffening: “...yes, there will be.”
sky: “and what might this person be like?”
sarah: “he will not be a gambler, for one.”
sky does not miss the pointed pronoun. “i’m not interested in what he won’t be, i’m interested in what he will be.” she sits down on the desk, in a pointedly masculine pose, and sets her fedora next to her - at her most Hot Queer, basically. “how will you know when he gets to you?”
my fic for the aos rarepair fic exchange - i can’t give any plot or ship details, for obvious reasons, but it’s 1.3k and i’m having fun with it!
steven roadtrip of destiny - canon divergent fic set at the end of steven universe future where steven goes on a roadtrip instead of... canon. it deals with some heavy emotions and it’s also a character study so it’s tentatively shelved until i get around to rewatching suf. but i am projecting on steven like crazy and it’s really, really cathartic. it’s taught me a lot about myself too lmao.
He’s never been anonymous before. He kind of likes it. It means he can fold his arms on the table and put his head down without Pearl worrying about his posture, or someone asking him if something’s okay.
In the last few months, he’s grown to hate people asking him how he’s doing, or if he’s okay. He always ends up lying, because he doesn’t want to worry them, and he ends up feeling worse.
Probably because it’s more of him supporting other people without supporting himself.
He should have told someone how he was feeling. He should have reached out. Sadie could’ve helped him. Lars would’ve listened. Connie would have hugged him and then found him the appropriate mental health professional.
(God, Steven wants a hug. Also the appropriate mental health professional? Whoever that would be.)
untitled aos fic - i don’t want to give a lot of details because :eye emoji: and also i don’t know much about what the plot of this is going to be anyway, lmao. but here’s an excerpt:
daisy “that actor who doesn’t shut up about data harvesting” johnson (@daisyquake) tweeted: two weeks :eyes emoji:
Elena Rodriguez | Seven Cents S2 Streaming On Netflix Now! (@yoyorodriguez) retweeted and added: the problem with being friends with daisy is that you SHOULD have some insight into what her tweets mean but you still have no idea
Fitz (@justfitz) retweeted and added: Try being married to her
untitled star wars twins fic - because i am a total and massive nerd. i’m just kind of stuffing everything i have feels about from the post-anh era into this and planning on figuring it out later? i’m really loving talking about the culture of alderaan (and the culture of the survivors) and also i just love writing luke and leia’s relationship... so much......
(no excerpt for that one because i’ve basically posted all of it in various posts lmao)
aos ds9 au - i’ve posted a LOT about this already and i want to keep the plot a surprise but fsk is in this and married and half the cast is aliens, what else do you need in life.
“Good morning,” says Jemma, coming into the room with her hair wet and her uniform crooked. “Hello, darling.”
“Hi,” says Daisy, turning her face up for a kiss. Jemma obliges absently as she walks past, looking around the room.
“Has anyone seen my hair clip?”
“No,” say Fitz and Daisy in unison.
and of course, last but never least in my heart, chapter 3 of the magnum opus - writing this is on hold until my brain decides to stop hitting me over the head at every possible moment, but there’s like... 2k written so far? it’s. it’s going.
“Yeah, yeah,” says Coulson, and makes quick work of the right gauntlet. It’s only halfway through the left one that his fingers slow and he says, quietly, “Simmons designed these, didn’t she?”
She lets out a quick breath. “Yeah.”
He stays quiet for a few more seconds, finishing up the last of the straps, making sure they’re tight enough. Finally, he says, “She should be helping you with these.”
Daisy pulls her arms back and swallows down some words, or maybe a couple of feelings, or maybe a sob. “Yeah, well.”
2. tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project
the last sentence of the magnum opus!!!!!!!!!!
no, lmao, i’m gonna try to be serious. i really, really want to write some librarians fic in the near future? also MORE OF THE SENSE8 AU. i’m DYING to write some stuff about that. especially sam’s cluster, for some reason? Let’s Make Him Suffer (Comedically)! one day i’m gonna finish that list of what cluster/situation each song is about and then it’ll be over for all of us!
3. what is that one scene that you’ve always wanted to write but can’t be arsed to write all of the set-up and context it would need? (consider this permission to write it and/or share it anyway)
i spent about eight months imagining a scene where riza hawkeye was really injured and mustang was holding her in his arms (basically the promised day scene but with more privacy) so does that count?
hmm, just for some other possibilities: glinda telling dorothy about elphaba, laura somehow seeing or speaking to natasha during catws, a good omens au of the good place (specifically the ”i don’t even like you!” / “you doooooooo” scene), kencyrath au of star wars (ESPECIALLY THIS ONE, except setting up the first scene alone would take 7k, but i want to talk about leia and luke and their MESSED UP TRUST ISSUES in this au).
oh, also, something about star trek tng where jean-luc and beverly and jack were in love and then jack died and picard left. more specifically a scene set during the pilot episode where jean-luc very cordially offers beverly the option to transfer off the enterprise, that he wouldn’t dream of holding it against her, and beverly very cordially telling jean-luc to go fuck himself. i want to write 30k of that broken triad. i want it so bad. i dream of that fic. maybe one day when i find myself with a completely empty month or two, i’ll binge all of tng and Write Some Stuff.
4. share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you’re really proud of (explain why, if you like)
since you and i have tww in common, i’m gonna do a tww fic! otherwise i’d have to reread literally every fic i’ve ever written, lmao.
(this is long but i put this post under the cut so i have RIGHTS. also consider this a sneak peek for the j/d fic in the sense8 au?)
“It’s okay,” says Helen. She sits for a moment in silence, seeming thoughtful. “The Congressman and I are in the same cluster,” she says eventually. “I’d- I supposed that’s easier on the Secret Service?”
“Yes,” says Donna. “The-”
She stops herself from saying anything further. President Bartlet and the First Lady aren’t exactly quiet about who’s in their cluster, especially with senior staff, but that doesn’t mean she should go talking about it in an unsecured room in LA, of all places.
To cover for her blunder, she gives up something else: “The same with Josh. They got really lucky with him, actually. It’s just him and me, so they won’t have to worry about anyone threatening the Chief of Staff through the barista in the local Starbucks.”
Helen looks up from the Ohio numbers she’d drifted back to, a slow smile creeping up on her face. “Josh is in your cluster?”
“Uh-” says Donna, feeling like national security wasn’t worth whatever she’s just blundered into. Oops. “Josh- Josh is my cluster, ma’am.”
She catches her mistake the second it’s out of her mouth, but Helen doesn’t call her on it, more focused on other revelations. “No wonder you two look at each other the way you do!” she says, sounding delighted. Donna shuts her eyes, praying for this to go away. It’s not that she’s ashamed of Josh - it’s just so, so complicated, and other people never think about how difficult it was. Still is.
i’m just... i really liked the idea of donna fumbling and having to reveal this to cover up for what else she was going to say? i don’t know why i’m so charmed by this. i think it’s because it would be impossible in the show - you can’t show what someone was going to say on television, not without a lot of setup and very careful scripting. it’s just a really fun situation to write about and i’m really proud of this conversation in general.
also helen santos was a dream to write and i love her a lot. i kind of want to write one of the fics in the series about her and her cluster solely because like... look at her. she’s a delight in literally every scene. i love her.
5. what character that you’re writing do you most identify with?
daisy johnson!!! i love writing daisy johnson!!!! she is the most adhd character i’ve ever written and i literally just have to transcribe my own inner monologue and it works perfectly!!!!!
Swing shift: 1600 hours to 2400 hours. Daisy always ends up getting back to her quarters at like 0030 hours, when Jemma is asleep and Fitz is reading some kind of technical journal. Then she has to eat replicated pizza, alone, and freshly replicated pizza is actually pretty hot but it feels cold at that time of night, like, spiritually.
6. what character do you have the most fun writing?
...whoops i literally just answered that lmao. uh. i also really love writing sky masterson in the guys and dolls fic? she’s just weaponized hot queerness in a suit and i love her for it. she is intentionally trying to seduce this repressed lesbian and it’s really funny and also really hot of her and it’s so much fun to write.
also, i wrote chidi for the tgp fic and it was possibly the most fun i’ve ever had with a pov, although that was also because i was purposefully trying to mimic the tone of the show. i still think that line about michael and a grenade is, like, the funniest i have ever been in my life. but chidi’s panic was surprisingly easy to write? all of tgp’s characters have such STRONG voices, it makes writing fic ridiculously easy as long as you don’t get stuck on a plot for six months.
7. what do you think are the characteristics of your personal writing style? would others agree?
oof, this one is ALWAYS tricky. uh? uhh?? i’m going to ruin everything by saying this but i basically alternate between the same two sentence structures and i am really frustrated about it. i also alternate between the same two styles of endings and i always use the same beginning (set scene, main character pov, thoughts-as-exposition, back to scene).
BUT ON A MORE POSITIVE NOTE i like to talk about emotions and relationships and character development!! i have my “queer subtext goggles” superglued to my face, lmao. i like to think about how characters must have felt about things in canon and how it must’ve influenced them. i like making people deal with the consequences of their actions, especially how it’s influenced they themself. i also just really, really like writing people who love each other, whether it’s romantic or platonic or anything in between. i just want them to be happy! i just want them to stick together! doesn’t matter what fandom, i stand by it.
#loudwithlaughter#sb and l rambles#sb and l answers#sb and l is writing#thank you for sending this in!!!!!#now for literally All The Tags lmao#aos ds9 au#verse: fitzskimmons thingy#fic: you're a candle in the window#verse: and it's golden#mcu ideas#tgp ideas#st ideas#fic: help me hold on to you#fic: on that bumpy road to love#jesus CHRIST that was a lot of tags#okay okay i'm pressing post now#this was such a delight thank you SO much for sending it!#the steven roadtrip of self discovery fic

i know this is hypocritical bc i haven't answered ur ask yet BUT please info dump about star trek mirrorverse !!! i would love to hear it
Omfg ok this is seriously so much fun to talk about and I'm glad someone's asking about this because just... omfg
Fair warning this is long and idk how to do a keep reading cut on mobile so I'm sorry dkfjdjd
First off idk how much you know about star trek so lemme start with the basics- the mirrorverse is basically an alternate universe in which everyone is pretty much... evil. That's the simple way to put it lmao.
But like, in the Prime Universe (which is, y'know, the normal Star Trek universe that we see all of the franchise, with the exception of one or two mirrorverse episodes in each spinoff, take place in), Earth forms an alliance with a whole bunch of other worlds called the United Federation of Planets and everyone gets along and it's all great. In the mirrorverse, though, that doesnt happen. Instead of forming an alliance when they make first contact with the Vulcans (the people with the pointy ears like Spock, most people at least know who he is, lmao), the people that were there when it happened KILLED all of the Vulcans that had landed there, took their ship, and conquered their homeworld. From that, they form what's called the Terran Empire. They make the Vulcans help them improve their technology (whereas in the prime universe, they willingly helped humans to be able to go into deep space, but they're not too confident in their abilities, so they don't really help as much as they could) and use that to conquer more worlds and form what's called the Terran Empire.
A really interesting theory I've seen is that the Terran Empire is basically the result of ancient Rome having never fallen. This is based on the fact that they use a lot of the same titles for rulers and such as the Romans did, plus "terra" is Latin for "Earth," and there are numerous mentionings of the empire having lasted for "centuries" and some little lines that imply that they're still polytheistic (off the top of my head, I can think of Jonathan Archer saying something about "the gods," plural, in the Enterprise episode In A Mirror Darkly pt. 1). The thing about this theory, though, is that the Mirror universe is supposed to be roughly the same as our actual history and the prime universe history, just... darker. And while the theory is super interesting and definitely has some support behind it, Rome never falling and just conquering the rest of the Earth before moving on to the rest of space would be a massive change. It would likely change a whollllle lot of history that we have no reason to assume didn't happen in-universe, albeit more ✨evil✨ than it happened in real life and the prime universe. So I personally think that the Terran Empire is more people looking back in history and saying "hey, they really had something going there. What if we did that again, but in space?" and so they used the Roman Empire as a sort of blueprint for this new Terran Empire. I came up with this without seeing anyone else say anything like this but I sincerely doubt it's all that original 😂
A lot of people want to see MORE from the mirror universe since, again, we only get, like, one episode each spinoff about it, and a big thing in the fandom right now is calling for a spinoff series dedicated purely to the mirror universe. That would be BADASS.
Also, fun fact, if I remember right, Next Generation and Voyager are the only two series that didn't have mirrorverse episodes in their entire run (on not counting Picard or Lower Decks because those came out literally this year lmao), but Next Generation DOES have tie-in comics and novels about the mirrorverse, and I can only assume Voyager does, too.
Sorry this is LONG and you don't have to read all of it but this was fun to answer so thanks for asking even though you weren't expecting a whole-ass essay lmao
Also I'm gonna shamelessly plug my fandom sideblog @allstarnotrek bc I talk about marvel, star trek, and other shit I like on there
#I'm scared to see how long this is because holy shit#also could we be pals because you seem super cool and nice and i need friends on here 🥺👉🏻👈🏻#star trek#this is what happens when you let me ramble about one of my special interests ckcjfjcj i dodnt mean for this to be so long#i feel like Luis from Ant Man#*russian accent* he's like human julebox#you put coin in you have to listen to the whole song#i might have botched that line but you get what i mean

List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the ask box of the last 10 people who rebblogged something from you. Get to know your mutuals and your followers ✨
Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve been properly on here! I hope you all like this (it’s very hard to decide on just five things, so here we go lol) (also please keep in mind this isn’t in some kind of favorite order or anything; it can go in any order since these are all pretty important to me):
1. Books. Collecting them, reading them (when I’m able to; I’m not always in a good head space to do so, especially this year). I love researching them, figuring out what else to read, what other editions of favorite stories to collect. I love coming up with different ways to display them. By author? Alphabetically? By genre? Who knows what my brain wants to do next lol. I have SO MANY FAVORITES and whenever someone asks me what my favorite book is I freeze and forget every single book I’ve read before lmao. I can’t just choose one!
2. My cats. I have four and live with three. Long story short, my first girl, a medium-haired tortie named Calypso, lives with my mom and I live with Panda (all black, short-haired), Mew (all black, medium-haired), and Maybelle (tabby and white, short-haired). Calypso doesn’t live with us because she does NOT like other cats lol she is very much her own woman. Panda is 13 and a grumpy, yet soft, old man who loves sitting in my lap. We just got Mew and Maybelle in July and Mew just does her own thing and Maybelle is neurotic af and had a rocky start with the other two so now neither of them really like her that much, but she adores my husband so now she acts like his puppy lol. Hopefully as time goes by this will get better! They’re all so sweet and adorable.
3. My husband. I know it’s cliche af, but he understands me more than my own family. We’ve had plenty of struggles; both of us are clearly neurodivergent; but it’s clear we’ll stick by each other through basically anything. I can talk to him and he’ll listen. Our privates jokes are silly. I repeat my favorite things over and over and over and over and he’s more than okay with that. Is the bar low for cis men? Quite often I believe it is. But he sees his issues and wants to work on them. He identifies them and talks to me. I love him dearly. We got married two years ago and bought a house together about eight months after that (we’ve been planning to do both for some time). We’ve been married for over two years and together for five. I want this to be a lifetime for both of us :)
4. Favorite aesthetic and nerdy things. This includes books as already mentioned; spooky, witchy, Halloween things and aesthetic; Nintendo, especially Animal Crossing, Mario, and Legend of Zelda games and merch; anime, especially slice of life, horror (supernatural horror is the best), certain sci-fi and fantasy, and comedy; Studio Ghibli and Sailor Moon are very important; I love soft cores like cottage core, forest core, faerie core, goblin core, grandma core, etc (like pics and fashion, etc); Ty Beanie Babies up until about 2008 (these new ones with the huge eyes just don’t hold the same magic for me, but I HAVE purchased a few of them, including a couple of red and black dragons that remind me of Ben Solo/Kylo Ren lol; it may have something to do with getting older/not liking change, but the Beanie Babies themselves just aren’t the same quality as 20 years ago; remember going to Hallmark and finding a beautiful selection? They smelled so good and it was fun seeing the variety); shows/series like Star Trek, Masterpiece Theatre, Foyle’s War, The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, Scooby-Doo (Where Are You? The New Scooby-Doo Movies, A Pup Named, and Mystery Incorporated are my top favs), Courage the Cowardly Dog, Bob’s Burgers, IT Crowd, Whose Line is it Anyway?, Buzzfeed Unsolved (supernatural is the best one lol), Unsolved Mysteries (the new Netflix series is very good, but I got a soft spot for the old Robert Stack episodes; hello, blaming drugs and Satanic cults on all the problems people dealt with in the 80s and 90s lmao), The Golden Girls, and any others I can’t think of right now; movies like Lord of the Rings (The Fellowship is the best to me) Jaws, the first three Jurassic Park films, The Mummy and The Mummy Returns (it’s not right without Imhotep or Rachel Weisz as Evey), The Conjuring universe films (I’ve enjoyed all of them so far), Sleepy Hollow, Paranormal Activity, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, oh my goodness there are too many to list here!
5. Staying cozy on cold days. Bundled up under thick blankets while wearing a hoodie or sweater with a warm cuppa tea and a cat in my lap. I love black teas like English breakfast, and a wide variety of herbals especially fruity ones. Our house doesn’t have the best insulation and we both get cold fairly easily lol so staying warm is a top priority. Hopefully soon I’ll be in a better head space to read on top of all of this while staying warm.
I hope you all liked this! It was a long read, but I’m better at letting all of my thoughts out like this instead of short bursts like a tweet, no matter how addicting Twitter is lolol. Thanks for reading, and the ask! ^_^
