I was wondering if you had any thoughts on Skybound Elita's more negative reception, like ppl equating her with DOTM Sentinel?

IMO alot of it also feels like fandom misogyny, like ppl are mad she’s cracking from leading a losing fight for survival instead of being super motherly. & the DOTM comparisons are esp vapid when Elita made her choice out of desperation, rather than a long-term plot to betray her entire faction & subjugate Earth.

I haven't personally seen those takes, probably because I try to avoid a lot of discussion of Skybound to avoid spoilers—I've been lucky and saw a lot of sympathy for her. I think your reasoning is basically what I'd say. There's a lot of depth to Elita-1's character in the series. She was stuck in this horribly traumatizing situation for so long and on the knife's edge of hopelessness and she understandably resents that she's had to make so many calls that would be so hard for anybody to live with while from her perspective that hasn't been true to anywhere near this extent for Optimus. She feels incredibly abandoned. At the same time though, there's some part of her that still has hope, that desperately wants the struggle to have meant something—and we can see that in actions she takes like the difference between how she handles Ultra Magnus being captured and tortured by Shockwave versus Cliffjumper and Jazz (probably also affected by seeing what state Magnus was in when she finally saved him... after her friends were slaughtered in the rescue).

I will also say that I have been really angered by other really bad Elita-1 takes I keep seeing about the TF One and Earthspark versions of her:

People saying TF One Elita's a mean asshole for lines that I'm 100% certain they would be seeing as hilarious if someone like Prowl said them even if they were unchanged

Something I noticed as I was adding alt txt.. I don't know anything about Jinx or how she assigns "Close Friends" on his Instagram, but basically users can assign someone as a "Close Friend" and you can then post stories only ppl within that group can see. If Jinx is the kind of person who hands out this status to anyone they know, this isn't a big deal, but if this person was close to Jinx I want you to keep in mind the possibility that this is potentially a violation of Jinx's boundaries. If this person knew Jinx closely, they could have talked to her in private, but instead they chose to make this a public affair. At best this could have been something the anonymous person genuinely thought was the moral thing to do, or this person could at worst be straight up an emotionally abusive person who shared these photos as a way to egg on Jinx's "downfall" or something similar. Again, this is only POTENTIALLY, but you need to be critical of who is sourcing your information and what their intentions are.

So the screenshots do prove Jinx knows Charlie and has been interacting with him and maybe (MAYBE) even dating him.. Which!! I just wanna clarify before you ask, I searched this up, Charlie and Grace broke up. Jinx and Charlie are both in their early to mid twenties. Aside from this controversy, there is really nothing to say abt them that isn't just, "mind your own business".

However, just following someone isn't necessarily proof you've seen the full extent of their content. So let's finally circle back around to Jinx's tweet in response to this (something that was quote tweeted earlier) and discuss why I have such an issue with this entire controversy. Hi everyone, apologises for taking a few days to address this as I've been logged off of twitter for my own mental health and due to the constant harassment and death threats that I have been receiving. Recently, there was a thread posted on me showing how I was following someone who created NSFW art of some content creators, specifically Charlie who I'm friends with. I absolutely condemn this kind of boundary-breaking NSFW art of content creators, and would never willingly follow or interact with an account that I knew created art like this. I am only semi-active on Twitter, especially on my 18+ account, and I was shocked and upset to discover I was following an account like this at the same time everyone else did. Because this account is now deactivated, I'm not sure what I originally followed them for, but it was likely COD or puppy girl art. I've privated my NSFW account as well because I'm not comfortable with a bunch of people who are likely minors in the community scrolling through it. Because people are making some gross assumptions as well I want to clarify that I met Charlie IRL, and had no idea who he or his friends were at all or as content creators before meeting them. We met naturally, became friends, and still are. Throughout this past week I've received an insane amount of harassment and threats, and have seen tons of misinformation spread about me and the whole situation so I definitely felt a need to clarify everything. I knew essentially nothing at all abt this acc or any of their callouts or whatnot, that just wasn't the sphere of cc I was in at any point, and while I post semi frequently on here, I'm not very interactive with content beyond my mutuals. Likely gonna retcon that going forward and look more into who I'm following before I do. Also pointing out that a lot of the sc's included in this thread or others are being presented as or shown as if they were from my likes? They were not, straight up not. Just gonna clear that up now. Lastly, please do not harass the creator of the thread or anyone else involved in this situation please. Please be kind y'all, and good day!

Quick note, if behind the scenes Jinx had immediately gotten harassment and death threats after the conception of that thread, THAT'S why Jinx was suddenly "stalking" leaktwt. Like of course Jinx is going to find the source of a bunch of people who are telling her he sucks and (possibly) telling him to kill themselves. Someone becoming conscious of their own controversy very quickly after it's conception isn't an abnormal thing.

So that's it. THAT'S IT. Even the artist in question only has proof he followed them, not that there was any tangible interactions to prove she saw the RPF content. And also, "my bio is nsfwrpf and my pfp was bsd and banner was fnaf? nothing to warrant her following me?" So it is 100% possible that he had only seen the artist's pfp, banner, the words "RPF" but not the problematic content in question.. So we actually need to talk about how exactly social media works, because for some reason nobody is bringing this up despite USING Twitter and KNOWING what Twitter feeds look like.

If you have ever been on a Twitter For You page (I'm checking mine now) you will know that the feed isn't strictly curated based on your following, Twitter has an algorithm that'll put posts on your feed based on different factors. When I go to mine, my feed isn't strictly people I follow (in fact it's barely people I follow), it's not chronological, and I don't know if this is still a feature but I distinctly remember times where I got shown posts that were LIKED by someone or RETWEETED by someone- So again, your feed can show you a lot of varying things that you're either only somewhat adjacent to or something that's not anything you're remotely interested in. So basically, you cannot know exactly what someone's feed looks like unless a person hand you their phone and you scroll through it. You can make ESTIMATES of what you thing someone's feed will look like, but, again, you can only know exactly what someone's feed looks like if you're able to scroll through it.

This is to say that it's 100% possible at some point Jinx came across a post from the account on their feed, didn't see it anything RPF related in the post or on their immediate page (assuming they clicked on the profile because you can follow people without going to their profile), and followed them. And even if they posted RPF the rest of the time, there is no way to know what % of Jinx's feed it would have been present on.. Which! Btw, is also influenced by if Jinx even frequents the For You page at ALL.. Which, Jinx claims he's not super active on Twitter, so that lines up perfectly with her explanation.

(And before you say something about it, we don't have access to the NSFW account because it got deactivated, but I personally doubt that the user literally only posted NSFW of RPF and MCYT. Most NSFW accs I've seen in my time always have even the slightest amount of variety.. So it's not to say it's not possible, but I think the artists' words are likely an exaggeration. That's the assumption this point is functioning under.)

Plus, remember what I mentioned about people liking or retweeting posts? It's kind of a whole point of social media that posts spread in chains, and it's 100% possible for posts from obscure or problematic people to reach normal people in the right circumstances. Again, this is just.. This is just how Twitter works?? How social media works?? And I feel like I'm insane sitting here typing out how posts actually end up on your feeds and reminding people what an algorithm is and that some people just AREN'T as online as you.

And I'm not saying all this to say that I am 100% sure that Jinx is innocent because I don't KNOW, and that's the POINT. You can't KNOW what Jinx has seen and what she hasn't unless you have proof of him interacting DIRECTLY with something.. And follows don't count because I know PLENTY of people (including myself at times) who don't vet the people they follow, and follow people from a post they've seen on their feed instead of their profile. All the evidence I've seen as of typing this is heresay, and unless all these people can present some substantial evidence that actually SAYS what they WANT it to say, I'm going to believe that Jinx made an honest mistake.

There's probably some other arguments I could make to prove my point, but I've been so thorough with everything I've been typing for literal hours just covering this. So I just wanna get at something that REALLY pisses me off about Twitter and I don't want to fucking see.

STOP calling people complicit in someone else's behaviour just because they're close to them. You are very potentially blaming VICTIMS THEMSELVES and I'm so fucking done with this.

Some people are saying Charlie is condoning this behaviour and it is DISGUSTING because can you actually take a step back and think about what you're saying?? Maybe Charlie does know, maybe he's into some freak shit, IDK, but I think it's WAY more likely Charlie didn't. The chances are far more likely that, if the allegations here are true, Charlie's boundaries were VIOLATED and HE'S the victim here. Though we can't really know because (I can't stress it enough) we don't KNOW what's happened behind the scenes. Charlie liked the tweet jinx made..

Which could mean several things. Maybe! The allegations aren't true, and Charlie is showing support for her. Maybe! The allegations were true, but they've quietly resolved the situation behind the scenes. Maybe! The allegations were true, and Jinx LIED to Charlie so he believes her.

(And yeah, I am implying these allegations could be true and I STILL think Jinx should be given some leniency based on if they've changed their mind on the morality of that content and have apologised in private to Charlie.. Because life is weird and people are weird and people change. Like IDK, again, maybe Charlie into that freak shit. What are you gonna do if a guy likes NSFW being drawn of himself? Complain to HIM about what his boundaries should be?)

You don't KNOW, you CAN'T know. I will state this over and OVER, YOU DON'T KNOW. Don't harass Jinx over things you don't know are true. If you don't like him after hearing these allegations? You're allowed to! It's fine! Block them and move on. But DON'T pretend that's the same as having evidence, because from what I've seen, you don't.

so basically sssniperwolf used to be this gaming youtuber but she eventually turned into a half baked "reaction" channel where she just watches tiktoks, makes low effort surface level commentary, and then doesnt credit the creator of said tiktoks. jacksfilms is a comedy youtuber who does a bunch of stuff (sketches, streaming, something called YIAY where he gives ppl prompts / questions to answer n reads em out(with credit!(also hes been doing stuff with ai recently but mostly to show how mid it is which like. eh idk how i feel abt it but its not a dealbreaker))) and he at one point in 2023 called out sniper for her content stealking and lazy content.

he started doing this thing where he reacted to her videos the way she reacts to the videos she steals? i think? and then he gives credit to the creators that sniper reacts to i hope ur following. sniper eventually got mad and was like "uhhhmmm ur stealing from me....." which is rly funny considering she steals from SO many ppl. they had lowkey beef for a while (and obv jack was in the right the entire time) and on uhhhhhh lemme look this up hold on. october 13th of last year sniper posted an instagram story poll like "jacksfilms is close to this place im shooting at should i go see him" i guess to like? talk things out?

and then some amnt of time later while jack was playing jackbox on stream with his editors and stuff (dubbed the council) sniper showed up at his house, stood outside, and posted a video OF HIS HOME ON HER STORY. ON HER INSTAGRAM WITH OVER 5 MILLION FOLLOWERS. also to add even more context that i found out from youtube comments, sniper has been arrested for armed robbery before, so! some council member alerted jack and erin (jack's wife) was like "erm im gonna go outside" and everyone was like NO DONT OMG. eventually she deleted the story but by that point it was like wayyyy too late. and photos of his house were alr on twitter and stuff. the most ridiculous part is that when jack was rightfully like WHAG GHE HELL she was like this guy is creepy and hes been harassing me! i just wanna talk!!!

Going to random Jews who do not post about the conflict and asking for their "stance" on it is part of a series of antisemitic loyalty tests and is extremely rude on top of it. Furthermore, speaking on Jewish cultures and issues and antisemitism is not the same as being experienced or knowledgeable on international conflicts.

And then your next paragraphs are of course riddled with anti-Israeli biases and examples that you've been listening to/reading propaganda uncritically, such as "wanting a more inclusive Israel" and in your more recent ask saying things like "I do understand that the whole concept of pushing for an Israel/jewish ethnostate is very much entwined with the history of Jewish culture and the antisemitism endured through different times". So you clearly have a basic lack of knowledge about both Israel and the conflict in general along with Zionism itself.

so im going to talk about this as a Sebastian kisser, so I might be a little biased but I will try to leave my personal feelings outta this.

Zerum's behavior as of late is very concerning and worrying as I'm scared she might ruin Sebastian as a character. She's too focused on being spiteful and immature to others. While yes, she was setting boundaries and they were very basic and understanding ones, But her response to the other Sebastian lovers (as well as their reactions) is just shitty.

Im going go say this now, Sebastian doesn't belong to Just zerum. He belongs to the pressure ip. Controversial take I know, but I keep seeing "Sebastian is zerum's oc" this and "Sebastian belongs to zerum" that. It is partly true but Sebastian was made for the game meant for others to enjoy. If she wanted to keep Sebastian as an oc, she wouldn't have him put in the game at all.

And I feel like she is using zeal to get her way. She isn't exactly a developer. She only designed Sebastian and she does a few other things that I forgot. she's getting far to possessive and protective over Sebastian and in zeal's own words, she wanted eyefestation to be male, not female and changed the gender identity of our pretty shark girl :( just because serum would "throw a fit" other wise. Although yes I do believe part of the toys were a visual representation for him, us, and the ppl around him, I also think that he truly did enjoy playing w his toys outside of that. and it would make sense! Near is sumone who’s constantly had to be mature and responsible, his whole life is and was “being the next L”, he basically never got that much of a childhood cuz of it.

I think most of his team knows, especially those whose been around for a while (I.e. anthony, halle, and gevanni) and he most likely has a “play room” in his offices and/or bases. I think he probably only uses the play room during and after he’s having a meltdown or sensory overload and stays there until he calms down, but most of the time if he’s having other issues he’ll go there too, I don’t think he goes there “just bc he wants to play” yk? The room is probably all neutrals like the rest of his lil gear bc he finds colors overstimulating or distracting and therefore distressing, and I think he prefers wooden toys the most. I’m assuming he regresses from abt 5 to maybe 12 ish?? It’s a very big age range and he prefers the “older” ages. I think he does get frustrated tho abt being infantalized obviously as an autistic person, so his team has gotten pretty good at figuring out when he’s lil and when he’s not.

He’s been doing it since at least the first time we saw him, if not 11-12 or earlier. He told mello at sum point and mello didn’t rlly like it at first, but after seeing how much it helped him he became way more open to it and occasionally helped out regressed near. Matt didn’t get it at first either and would say lil things abt it, but mello sat him down and talked to him, and after a while he became even more caring n helpful around regressed near than mello was (which absolutely got on mellos nerves and Sumtimes Matt was doing it on purpose lol)

Mega explanation under the cut talking abt some of the trashy behaviour I've had to experience on this forsaken app over the years, but mostly how I feel about it so yeah if you don't care that's alr hope everyone has a good life, cause as I said I quit.

I deleted the new blog I ended up making bc this environment has never really been welcoming to me and I can 100% say that tumblr has actively made my experiences with practically everything irl AND online worse than any fruitful goodness it has or could ever bring. From putting my everything into relationships including comfort, support and psychological + therapeutic sessions for people even over ten yrs older than me (at times older) without even getting a single kind thought back, to the genuine rudeness of some people, to the (excuse my language) but half assed and crude responses I receive ... honestly the list is endless.

One thing I'm trying to get better at is to notice when my presence is clearly not wanted and act accordingly. It's just saddening that the one place where it's encouraged to be your true "nerdy" self, as the catchphrase of this site is, I am not allowed to be just that. I really do wonder what part of me is so incredibly intolerable or forgettable, that I am expected to practically grovel for even ten minutes of people's time - and that's with the closest people I know, forget abt ten minutes for regular conversation I can't even get ten minutes from the people I stood with through thick and thin with, even though I myself struggle really hard to be there and yet always am.

From now on I'll just say that no I will definitely not come back, I will also not use this account and if I ever DO come back it would probably just be a call out thread on SOME people who deserve jail time more than silly time on tumblr dot come /hj (but not rlly hj hahejdsj this is so srs and continues to impact my life after almost 2 years ... but ugh what.ever.😀👍). Okay actually I want to talk abt the shit takes regarding the finale bc. Wtf.

In particular, there's this idea I keep seeing that c!Prime were both doomed and there was never any hope for them, and they were destined to destroy each other, etc. etc.

First of all, c!Dream was the instigator of like 90% of the conflict on the server and was always the one escalating things and the shit he did was just. Not even comparable to c!Tommy, but that's a whole other thing and I want to focus on the c!Tommy takes bc holy shit /neg

I'll start with the most annoying type that I've seen: Hero Complex aka c!Tommy was too obsessed with stopping c!Dream bc he can't view him as anything other than The Villain, and the whole him understanding c!Dream's motives thing is him "finally breaking free of his worldview" and this is supposed to be closure ig. But it was already too late at that point bc c!Tommy had already taken the hero thing too far and there was no going back.

You know, just. c!Tommy is deathly afraid of his abuser (who literally murdered him and also threatened to make his life a living hell for eternity) and this is a character flaw apparently.

Generally though it's just the idea that c!Prime were equally responsible for destroying the entire server (and the possibility of a real friendship between them) and the only option was for them to both die, get memory wiped, and then they can become friends and have a fresh start, and once again this is supposed to be closure ig bc they both just wanted to have friends. And the reason c!Tommy is equally responsible is bc he was too reckless/impulsive/traumatized/etc. and the whole nuke plan was that impulsiveness being his downfall. Nevermind the fact that it was literally a suicide and he did so believing that he was the cause of all the problems on the server and therefor he deserved it, and then he died still believing that.

But it's a good thing actually bc he recognized that he was equally responsible for everything bc he was too reckless and impulsive.

The absolute worst aspect of these takes though is the way c!Tommy's trauma is made out out to be this fatal character flaw. Like the whole "c!Tommy was too fixated on what c!Dream did to him and that combined with his impulsiveness was his downfall" and "c!Tommy couldn't let go of what c!Dream did to him and move on and it destroyed him" (bc it's not like he was horrifically paranoid bc c!Dream threatened to make his life a living hell and stalked him and psychologically tormented him or anything) and basically the implication that because of all that, death was the only option for him.

But it was a good thing actually bc c!Tommy lived and got a fresh start with no memories and that was the only way he could be happy again.

Like I really don't think that was the intended interpretation of the finale bc holy shit the implication there is that c!Tommy was too traumatized to live and the only way he could live happily was by having his memories wiped.

Like I suspect a lot of ppl are just not aware of how fucked up that is bc let's be real, it's unfortunately a common thing in media for traumatized characters to "find peace" or whatever by dying. Heroic Sacrifice my behated. And like this is definitely a problem with the finale itself too, but again I don't think the implications were intentional.

But also the aspect of "the only way c!Tommy could live happily was by having all his traumatic memories wiped" is just. It would have been impossible for him to ever heal and be happy despite his trauma ig? Or alternatively it was his own fault he destroyed himself bc he couldn't move on from his abuse (while believing his abuser was actively out to get him)? Like holy shit is that uncomfortable to see as an abuse victim who doesn't have the option of erasing all the traumatic memories. And also the fact that c!Tommy's death was a suicide on top of all that and. Ppl just ignore that part ig? Yeah it's not fun.

Anyway fuck that, fuck the idea that living with trauma is worse than death, and fuck the idea that abuse victims can't heal and be happy and that death is the only option. That is all <333

the black and white thinking and refusal to think for half a second about characters other than ur faves Reminds Me Of Something!real ones know. the way people talk about any character with any sort of greyness to their morality kinda makes me crazy and i lowkey think ppl bring up kishimoto TOO MUCH in their discussion of the storys themes bc while obviously like its important to talk abt WHY he wrote it the way he did esp wrt nationalism and all, i think also it sort of dulls ur ability to think anything complex about it if u blame everything u dont like or think was "sloppily done" on kishimoto. judging every character based on kishimoto's morals instead of their own if that makes sense? its not like "the wrong way to do things" i just personally find it really boring when thats the only way youll look at a text. like no wonder you guys are constantly making jokes about how naruto sucks and you'd never recommend it, you wont even allow yourselves to think about the story as its own piece of art beyond just "kishimoto wrote it this way because he sucks" like do you ever think maybe youre killing some of the fun of media analysis... i think its why so many people hate sakura or kakashi or itachi or anyone else. and this always comes out in the way ppl characterize bc theyre like Um I've Fixed Them :) and then its the blandest shit ever because you absolutely refuse to work even slightly WITH the story you claim to love, only fighting tooth and nail against it.

some examples of what i mean w this: basically any conversation about itachi that tries to categorize him as either good or bad. basically any conversation about sakura that tries to do literally anything or nothing with her. people making sns blandly romantic as if the insane and inventive ways they talk about their feelings for each other in canon isnt genuinely part of what makes it so maddeningly fascinating and awesome. anyone who thinks kakashi is a bad teacher. its just this refusal to meet the characters where they are and think of anything in terms of the text itself rather than exclusively in a meta way, ie "this is how it would be if it was good." no its not. you just made it how it would be if it was bland and obvious. dont you literally think the fact that the guy writing it was accidentally writing his characters to be struggling against the same shit that he was struggling against irl and struggling to keep Out of his writing is like. wildly fascinating and part of waht makes the story intersting to pick apart. but ok. this also applies to aspects of boruto primarily sasusaku and naruhina marriages. no one gets it like i doooooo

I saw your tag to a post about jp's bullshit answer at denvercon 2021. What happened there? What question were asked?

basically someone asked jensen: when did dean know cas loved him? and jensen said, for him he played it as dean didn't know until the end, and he talked about his interpretation (which he's talked about before) which is that dean has always seen angels as these higher beings and never would've thought them capable of love like that (which i mean. IS a headcanon that is pretty prevalent in the fandom and you see it in fics a lot where pre-getting together dean thinks cas could never love him like that bc he's an angel etc etc).

Anyways then J*red derailed and interrupted jensen (on a question that wasn't even about him or his character !!!) to joke that cas is "junkless" and then rambled on and on word-vomiting abt how spn isn't about romantic love or sexuality and basically invalidating cas's confession and saying it was not a romantic declaration of love, it was open to interpretation, etc etc. And then jensen was left to try to do damage control of all *that* in the moment and so he said cas's declaration went beyond the romantic because he's an angel and his love for dean would be more, and that there weren't really words to describe it, like it was more than just romantic. which TO ME, does not read as negating that it IS romantic but is instead saying that cas's love for dean encompasses the romantic and more. He was basically saying cas's love for dean is almost like worship bc he's an angel, and it's more complex than humans could understand, and well, that's another thing i have seen said in the fandom time and time again. Cas's love for dean IS vast and complicated and all-encompassing.

However, everyone was quick to lump jensen's response in with j*red's and say they were both negating the confession and saying it wasn't romantic, instead of what it really was which was jensen trying to fix what j*red said on the spot. And yea it wasn't a perfect response, he probably could've worded things better, but it wasn't like he had time to formulate a good response. He wasn't expecting any of this because the question wasn't even for j*red. There was no reason for j*red to speak. Also this was a Creation Con J///2 panel, so you can imagine which fans made up the majority of that audience and just what the atmosphere must've been like. Jensen also stormed off the stage after this and his body language toward j*red at the end of this panel (and really that whole con) was super closed off and hostile. This was like the first in person con since the pandemic too (and after the prequel announcement) so the j2 fallout theories were HIGH and some ppl also thought j*red was being an ass during that question on purpose.

On a different subject- just some constructive criticism, your response to that anon left a really bad taste in my mouth because you made your dislike of a random ship about how the Evil Gays are trying to "advance their agenda" through gay shipping...I get what youre trying to say but that is a REALLY loaded phrase in relation to gay issues, as were several other phrases you used, for example, saying gay shippers are delusional, biased, and self centered for projecting their sexualities onto characters. I also hate when ppl misunderstand characters canon relationships and try to pretend their fanon ships are supported by canon. I also hate eruri bc personally I just do not like the ship. Look, I'm going to get blunt here, because this is basically the second time in as many weeks that I've been criticized for using general language when referring to a general group, and accused of targeting a specific group. That's an assumption on your part because you're looking to be offended.

I'm talking specifically about the group of fans who attack everyone and anyone who doesn't accept their headcanon version of these characters as canon. Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about. You do.

I never blamed gay people for anything, ffs. I never said gay people are "evil". What's "fucked up" is you putting words in my mouth that I never said and then accusing me of being homophobic based on these made up words. I never said people calling Levi gay is hurting me, either. I said focusing on his sexuality and making his sexuality the most essential aspect of his person when discussing his character is distracting and potentially leads to bad interpretation because it literally has no bearing ON his character. His sexual orientation is irrelevant to who he is. People who make their entire identity about who they want to have sex with or who they're attracted to will often project that onto fictional characters, and then get mad at anyone who doesn't do the same. You're doing it right now. And when said characters sexuality has nothing to do with who they are as a character, doing this is harmful to ones ability TO UNDERSTAND said character.

I'm not biased toward gay people. Again, that's all you making assumptions because you want to be offended.

And I don't hate eruri. How hard is it for you to read? I've stated multiple times, in multiple different ways, that I've both written and read countless eruri fics. Some of my favorite AoT fics are eruri and it's the ship I primarily engage with when reading AoT fic. But I guess you just missed that little detail. Convenient for you, since it doesn't support your desire to see me as some homophobic bigot who's insensitive to the gays.

hope youre doing alright anon n sowwy for the late response, many things happened but also. took a bit to post this bc is like. both a tricky topic n actually quite simple, as mumbo would say,

first, lets go with the simple explanation n go from there,

because there's really.... not an specific order of viewing? since most of the "proper" lore hasnt been that prominent¹ until around s8 for hermitcraft, when moon big happened, so if you wanted to, you would start from the very beginning with grian from when he joined hermitcraft on season 6 (or if you want to go further back, evolution smp, since thats where the concept of The Watchers came from. more on that later) or just jump in the latest season on hermitcraft and slowly chip in the life series, starting from 3rd life up to the now wild life, since, technically, things are connected in the way they are referenced from past seasons and some past alliances also have some weight on how things go down

and. well, while is true that really, the biggest part of hermitcraft is watching these minecraft ppl play minecraft together as friends, as who they are, after some flame wars here n there, at least here on tumblr the community (HOPEFULLY) has reached the understanding that the way they act in the server, the ways they build n overall the little details and also when Big things happen, is more akin to them being improv actors; where minecraft is the stage and the skins are the costumes (which is further proved by miss pearlescentmoon calling her double life character a wet cat. i love her) so most of what they do can be attributed to the character, the cubito, even if there Is a layer of their irl selves there. like i mean, what is an oc but a fragment of the self, if we get a lil poetic

so basically, to get into cubito grian lore or Any of the hermits n life series ppl (which i highly recommend), is to have fun and be yourself! 👍

...more so since a Lot of the lore sometimes is like. fully fan made or fan-made-then-made-canon-....-kinda.

to be more specific on what i mean with that, let's talk abt The biggest thing of grian's lore: Watcher grian.

Watcher grian, the first part of this concept, was born from him leaving the evolution smp almost past half way it's runtime and becoming one of Us, the viewers, the Watchers of the smp serie.

it honestly doesnt go too much further than that for him, even if the watchers seen in the smp are kind of a character mixed in with the way they represent us... but anyways. grian left evo and turned into a watcher to see what their friends were up to in the server. he even said goodbye to the rest of the evolutioners in a modified end poem alongside two other watchers before joining us

the thing that is fan made is the rest of the details of what happened with grian After that, specially the thing of watchers being Evil™, him escaping them, that one specific watcher mask with the evo symbol on the middle and two spikes to the side, the purple cape, etc. But im not gonna get into that further in this post, is. a mess of its own.

the thing is, grian's lore and most other hermitcraft/life series lore can fall in three categories²: first category is fanmade lore, which isnt a bad thing really, since is a big part of the internal culture and like any other fandom making shit up based on lil things here and there or just because is part of the fun. actually, some of these ideas like the watchers being evil or just antagonistic were talked of enough that theyre pretty much canon on martyn inthelittlewood's pov of the life series, but there's still enough vagueness in the concept outside of that pov to play around.

the second category is completely canon lore, like it is the whole Moon Big storyline³, the civil war, the hippie-area 77 arc, the s7 turf war with mother spore grian (which is a bit, but is a canon thing), the rift and hermitcraft being connected to empires by it, the. thing about docm77's arm being ripped off in one of the earlier seasons by one of the minecraft devs (reason why he has a robotic arm).. and so much more i cannot remember at this point, and thats only from a couple of the povs on hermitcraft. theres so much more, Years of lore, and actually, in this category falls the life series too, because. yeah. but usually is the fans doing on dramatizing it the way it felt in some cases, and expanding on ideas (that, with this, many times end up canon. specially in the case of skins)

the third category is the hints and crumbs dropped on more casual, goofy episodes on hermitcraft. one example of this (or more like, the one example i was thinking of while writing this whole thing, the entire time), is that little Hint in one of the mid seasons of scar, mister goodtimeswithscar, possibly letting an alien he had eat part of the NHO group after their disappearance (irl hiatus) after s4.-s5...?

tho honestly, once you get to know how scar is like. at all. its not out of character for him. he's just a silly guy!

...also if you ask me, and funnily enough because this Technically is canon: Grumbo. yes, the ship. like—they have robot sons named after the both of them, mumbo called grian babe once, grian called himself a needy girlfriend at the start of s7 in the context of mumbo, they've lived as neighbors for as long as the both of them had been together in hermitcraft, theyre obssessed with each other, they made summoning circles of one another when the other was away once in s9—theyre canon in my heart.

anyways. as i said at the beginning, a good starting point is the most recent season just to start knowing who grian Is as a character, plus seeing how seasons go usually, but if you want to get the few references thrown around both in-season and in the fandom, slowly watching around the other seasons is nice; s8 and s9 if you want more things happening at once (also, kinda biased here, but for s8 i also recommend joe hills! is a Fantastic pov on all that went down, is the joe hills difference :] ) and s6 and s7 for more "calm" seasons, but still with things happening every once in a while⁴,

tho with the life series, deffo start with third life, because everyone has their favorite season for one reason or another, but third life... is just. Is Third Life; is defining, The start of the life series, the thing that made people in the fandom finally break away from unspoken rules in the fandom, and the start of something that No One knew it was gonna become as big as it is, a whole series! not even grian and the participants knew, and... it just hits different, yknow?

I always LOVE how you portray the friend groups in your fics because they’re very relatable and realistic to me, while still being unique in their own way where it’s not repetitive in each fic. That’s one of the many things I admire about you and your writing. You keep things very interesting! I’m trying to visualize in my head her having to go up to Jungwon and convince him of her plan and it makes me laugh all over again. Heeseung responding only like twice and his only opinion being “damn if only they didn’t already know taehyun” cracks me up. Could’ve said literally ANYTHING else to help and just didn’t bother.

To be honest the friendship dynamics really just come out as I write, I never go into it thinking this is how I want the group to be. I just start writing and go from there. That's why sometimes it feels like some ppl get lost it's cause I forgot they were in the group 😅.

I actually went back to count how many times Heeseung said something and it's like 3 times 😅 but your comment cracked me up cause he really is just like oh well🤷🏽‍♂️. Heeseung really said he's not going to be a big help and I kinda love him for that.

Because most the times its really them in control, as evidenced by chapter 6 of Foolish One that I wrote today where I had one idea but these lot were like nope and well I'll leave it a surprise as to the content of the chapter itself.

Okay I went back to check. I've only made Jay a Slytherin once. He's been a Gryffindor twice and then Hufflepuff & Ravenclaw once... To be fair for this AU, I was thinking he'd be a Hufflepuff. YNs house however, I'm still thinking about, I haven't figured out friends or side couples yet so might have to wait until the new year for this fic 😩😅.
