however I feel like the way they've overtaken fandom analysis/ shipping culture is an indication of the general decline of fandom communities.

lets start it out with the obvious, jjk 0. this is the prequel to the actual anime and manga series (although i guess actualy isnt the correct term... you get the point) and it starts all because of yuuta and rika who were both children when they fell in love.

rika gives yuuta a ring and tells him that its a promise ring and that its a promise that they'll be together forever.

but dw, she gets turned into a curse... by yuuta, but it was on accident so... yeah fun-

then geto shows up and basically attacks the school and yuuta and rika save it using LITERALLY the power of love. then soon enough gojo ends up telling yuuta this 'love is the greatest curse of all'

yeah love is literally the main theme of that, yuuta's love is what cursed rika and caused her to become a curse but what of gojo? why is he saying 'love is the greatest curse of all'?

well soon after this he mentions his 'one and only' and its heavily implied (actually canon) that its suguru geto, YEP the mf who attacked the school. now lets take it back a few notches shall we <33

gojo and geto went to school together where they became extremely close friends (implies lovers as they do a TON of romantic stuff in japanese culture such as giving geto second button to gojo aka the one close to his heart and them riding on a bike together which is illegal in japan but its also considered romantic to break the rules with your lover so like??!?! yeah theyre gay)

soon after they have a mission to protect the star plasma vessel and imma spare you the details lets just say that it goes HORRIBLY wrong and it ends up causing a rift between gojo and geto. gojo ends up awakening becoming a better version of himself for it and is trying to show it to geto. yet he doesnt know that what happened with him and how he basically got a power up did NOT happen to geto.

geto was left to question who he was fighting for anymore and this caused him to... get a little silly and kill an entire village anyways the kfc breakup happens yada yada and remember that these two were really really REALLY close friends at least and most likely lovers (how i'll be referring to them from now on)

now what day did geto attack the school aka the night of 1000 demons parade? december 24, the same date which is the most romantic in japan (to my knowledge) and the same date which gojo killed him... YEAH THAT SHIT WAS PLANNED

but lets move onto something a little more... recent.

ITAFUSHI!!!

honestly my fav ship and why im all writing this in the first place. their love for each other was literally so great that they killed the king of curses. the whole reason that megumi locks in is because he realizes that yuuji is gonna be sad if he dies and that he doesnt want yuuji to be sad

these two care for each other so much and its basically shown at the start of the manga, how megumi sees yuuji and saves him without hesitation, he just doesnt want to see a good person die.

he then says 'what if someone you saves kills another in the future' and when yuuji asks him that megumi cant answer. and when he can yuuji literally flips back and kills himself in order to save megumi and mind you he was fearing death a few seconds ago, saying how he didnt want to die yet and how he had regretted eating that stupid finger

yet when it came to saving megumi all of the sudden that didnt matter anymore, in fact when sukuna offered to bring him back he said no because he didnt want sukuna hurting more people... speaking over that-

SHIBUYA!!! yeah sukuna takes over yuuji and kills a bunch of people- kinda ironic seeing how megumi asked yuuji 'what are you gonna do if someone you save kills those later?' even MORE ironic that before that its revealed that yuuji swallowing the finger caused a bunch of parts of sukuna to wake up and start killing people and both of them realized this and went 'imma not tell the other cause thatll make them sad'

anyways megumi gives his bf a pep talk and then BAM megkuna and yuuji goes batshit against sukuna <3

anyways before megumi separates from sukunas body he says that he's gonna try living for someone else just one more time and its pretty obvious that this person is yuuji.

ALSO fun little thing.

ok so back to Toji's worm posting, bc I've only really gone into its effects on Geto (and briefly Gojo)

do you think it could have affected Megumi growing up? children don't seem to have control over their CE, nor the capacity to hold a lot of it (I think that capacity depends on the level of traumas they've experienced, but idk if it's canonically confirmed). the way he's always been like "I don't care" and that gradually changes over time because of the love between them (itafushi kaisen).

but also, his mother wasn't a sorcerer. and they didn't have heavenly pacts of physical prowess to protect them from curses. the worm might have been docile but they lived with it. imagine having a curse for a roommate, wrapped around your partner/father, or on his breath.

mamaguro might not have been able to see the worm, either. and we never found out what happened to her.

so once again I blame the worm and ultimately kenjaku for setting that up in Toji's path, basically luring him into training it.

so, as you already know, the general, vague premise that i've given in the first two chapters is somewhat straightforward. megumi has defected from the school and accidentally revealed that he's killing curse users. the first chapter takes places ten years post-canon, and itfs have been having "secret" stsg meetings for five years.

so, what happened?

as we know, the higher ups are a PROBLEM. in fact, this new batch of higher ups is worse than the last, in my opinion, because they're willfully ignorant. buncha awful losers imo.

what does this mean?

they are demanding that japan fix the damage done from the canon events and assist the world in taking care of curses and curse users. sorcerers are expected to train new sorcerers, fight curses, travel, and basically work like 24/7. obviously this isn't sustainable, and we see that everyone hates it from the start.

where does this all play into megumi becoming a villain?

i've been dropping these not-so-subtle hints towards an Event that takes place that completely breaks megumi. it's not in the "i should just die" way, it's the "everyone else should pay" way. megumi is taking the steps to make the world a better place, but what is his end goal? how do curse users come into play with it all? it'll all slowly be revealed over time, or, if i do this right, people should be able to pick up on his plan before i reveal it.

the timeline is all kinds of wonky. i'm telling it out of order, so chapter one takes place january 1st 2029, and chapter two takes place immediately post-canon in 2018/2019. chapter three will skip forward to 2027 and 2028, and we'll see that unfold through yuuji's journal entries.

i hope it's not too confusing, but i'm also sort of writing it to be a little confusing. oops, sue me lol. we'll get more into itafushi's past in these coming chapters, but i really can't wait to see people's thoughts and reactions to chapter three! here's a snippet:

how I feel about him:

I love him dearly but he is such a pain to write and I don't know why! unfortunately I don't have nearly as many thoughts on him as I do on megumi, and the thoughts I do have are also less insane. thinking about him breaks my heart because like - he's just so good and pure and adorable and I can't stand all the bad things that happen to him. will I still hurt him myself? fuck yeah. I think he's a really interesting character and needs to be prodded in closed environments. but the difference between megumi and yuji for me is this: with megumi, I like to put him in as many new situations and through as many new forms as pain as possible. yuji, I'm far more interested in exploring the aftermath of the pain he's already been through in canon and recycling the same sort in AUs.

my unpopular opinion:

listen... I know how we all feel about yuji with piercings and tattoos. I see and understand this line of thinking and do agree he needs piercings in his life. but I cannot see him getting tattoos casually. I think it would be one of those things that would bother him because it would be too close to the image of him housing sukuna, no matter what he gets. he would never say this - he just wouldn't bring up the idea at all. if someone else ever joked/said something about him getting tattoos he would just say "haha yeah maybe" and move on. he doesn't want to talk about why he doesn't want them. he just doesn't want marks like that on his skin anymore. the only exception I can see is if he gets tattoos where sukuna's eyes were, to remind himself of the burden he's carried and to not let go of how it affected him, and also so megumi doesn't have to stand alone. it would still make him sick to do so, though.

one thing I wish we would have happened with him in canon:

super basic but I want to see his dorm room more!! we only get glimpses of like his bed and his fucken poster and I want to see more. what sort of things did he keep in/on his desk? is he messy, organised chaos type, etc? how did his room change from when he first moved in to coming back from death after it was cleaned out? did it ever look the same again?

My fave itafushi headcanons, you say? *cracks knuckles*

I think Megumi likes to 'borrow' Yuuji's hoodie when he's away because it smells like him and keeps him comfortable. In an angsty situation, he kept Yuuji's yellow hoodie after he 'died' at the detention center and never returned it even when he came back (that's why we never see him wear it again). Yuuji asks about it one time but no one knows what happened to it, and just assumes it got thrown away or donated (only Nobara knows Megumi kept it bc she saw him with it once, but she kept his secret).

I'm a sucker for people bonding over food, so I like to think that Yuuji continues to teach Megumi how to cook his favorite foods. We have to assume that Yuuji had to learn how to cook and do basic domestic tasks since it was just him and his ailing grandpa for most of his life, and Megumi probably didn't learn any of that stuff from his parents (or Gojo if we're being real).

Post canon, Megumi would help Yuuji make a memorial for his departed loved ones (Nanami, Gojo, Choso) as a way for him to process his grief that he's been trying to bury. They would help each other with their grief and how to navigate through the new Jujustu system. Also, I feel like Yuuji might choose to leave jujutsu society after he graduates and gets a 'normal' job while Megumi decides to stay behind and probably takes on the role of the new head of the Zenin clan since I don't think Maki wants it. Maybe he becomes a teacher too.

Individually, they think their disfigurements (battle scars, missing limbs, etc.) are ugly and make them undesirable, but they always reassure each other that it's not true.

In an AU, Choso would scare the fuck out of Megumi when Yuuji introduces him for the first time, not even as a couple, Yuuji can just say they're friends, but later on Choso will come out of the shadows (like in that one panel) and intimidate him.

Yes and No!

I have a few that are currently pinging around my brain at lightspeed, and even one that has a whole notebook full of notes, but nothing draw or written YET. I have a problem with getting into worldbuilding and then just... not doing anything with said world.

(This is going to be long, apologies)

Basically there's four that I'm focusing on: A dragon au, an ice skating au, a librarian au, and a werewolf au (stay with me I swear they have plots--). There's also a bunch of one off things I have written and or am in the process of writing/drawing but they aren't big au's and are mostly rotting in my drafts atm. Most of these are itafushi, but there's a few other pairings/fandoms in there.

Starting off, the librarian au!

So it came about like a month ago at like 3 am because that's the only time I'm productive lol. It's going to be gender-swapped because I think that would be so adorable. Megumi would be the librarian of a college library who dresses in those like floral dresses and cardigans. I kinda hc that he needs glasses in cannon so in this au she would have those glasses in this au. Like he just got the whole grandma ensemble on-- ( flower blouse with long black pleated skirt and mary-janes and those grandma glasses and hair in bun and ornamental pin). And I got really into fencing because it's just so cool to my little hindbrain, so I wanted to make Yuuji a fencer on the school's team. Long story short, Megumi thinks Yuuji is like one of those popular girls who like to pick on others and stuff, so she ignores her and strictly does her job. But (unfortunately) Yuuji is persistent as hell and wants Megumi in all of her grandma glory carnally. So she shows up every single day to talk to Megumi and be friends with her.

I'm ten seconds away from making a Pinterest board for the grandma fits lmao.

The dragon au is still under construction, so there's absolutely no plot, just random scenes I keep daydreaming about. But, definitely going to have dragons and drama. I'm thinking of making it include a bunch of different types of dragons, and different kingdoms (stuff like that). For sure though, Sukuna is going to be a big old mean-ass dragon who hates his handler's (Yuuji's) guts. I'm thinking I want to still incorporate their canon abilities because it would be so fun to write a war where you have all these broken powers. Again it's still super new! I haven't even made designs for them yet (sob)

The ice-skating au is what it says on the tin and mainly came to my attention because I binged Yuri!!! on Ice for the... third time? It's gonna have a bit of drama and petty squabbles but I want Yuuji to be some sort of buff dude who's just stupid good at anything he touches. And Megumi is the son of royalty (prob geto and gojo? idk they always find a way to sneak into my stories) who is in an arranged marriage with Yuuji. Actually now that I'm typing this out it is NOT what it says on the tin. Uhhhhhhh I think I was going dabble in a/b/o dynamics but idk if I really wanna commit to write all that.

And finally, the one I'm super excited about!

THE WEREWOLF AU!!! Basically, there's a whole very intricate system of power that I am in the process of developing. There's technically a semi-coherent plotline going on but I'm not focusing on that rn. I have a system of clans and social hierarchy within the werewolf society? They aren't known to the public but they exist on their own. There's like "pure bloods" but that just means that the strain of werewolf they have is from one of the old clans. And then there is the mixed ones, who just have diluted blood from one of the main clans. Mixed wolves are generally weaker, and more likely to be unable to control themselves around the moon cycles. These werewolves are absolutely not going to be the half man things, I'm more imagining a person who fully shifts into a bigass wolf dog thing. Since there's a power system, there is going to be conflict, I just haven't chosen what conflict it's going to be yet. This is still a jjk au, and prob one of the bigger ones, I've just been so locked into the power system I haven't focused on any character's roles yet :')

Most of these don't have any concrete art accompanying them but I will be drawing over the weekend so hopefully I'll get something done.

As for itafushi hc's, I'm almost certain I have a million of them I just cant think of any specific ones at this second. Megumi is def the more insane out of the two tho--

Sooooo basically I've been wanting to re-read the manga for a while and since i now have the time i figured i might start right away and kill time before the leaks.

I wanted to read the manga again mainly so i could make Serious Posts™. BUT i also really want to make a bunch of posts making fun of how down bad Yuuji is for Megumi. Because while Megumi 100% deserves to be clowned for being THAT down bad for Yuuji and is definitely an easy target, I feel that we sleep on the shit Yuuji pulls.

We complain about people saying that Itafushi is one-sided, but 90% of the posts talking about canon material are usually about Megumi. I figured, if no one else will bully Yuuji for being in love with Megumi, then I'll just have to do it myself.

Disclaimer: I will be tagging the posts making fun of Yuuji as "simptadori hours" asaddjdjss. Also I'm not gonna be like, serious about it, like 50% of the posts will be stuff i actually think are Not Platonic and the rest will be me purposefully putting on shipper glasses for funsies. Answering these out of order to hide spoilers!

3. If Geto didn't exist, I would ship Gojo with Nanami. Nanami would be bothered 600% of the time.

2.Most tragic is the fact that, while Gojo always looked at Geto's soul and accepted him unconditionally, Geto thought their relationship was over the moment he chose to leave Jujutsu High and they never reconciled this disparity while living. If you want an exhaustive list of the things that rot my brain and prevent me from remembering basic things like my childhood and the Pythagorean theorem, please, feel free to read this recently updated and ongoing list. 😭

Lastly, yes, I think ItaFushi are meant to be a parallel to SatoSugu. See below for why!

The comparison isn't perfect but I don't know that it's meant to be.

I feel like I reference Naruto a lot for having not seen it but I'm pretty sure it's a solid example of the generational failures of the Uchiha clans and the Hidden Leaf Village as overcome by Sasuke and Naruto, respectively.

I think that JJK could be a circular story (check out the Rick & Morty progression, in particular) and that SatoSugu and ItaFushi seem to run as parallels. To simplify, we'll break it up by the OG for parallels:

Familial technique damns them to a burden of responsibility. Gojo became the head of the Gojo clan, Megumi is bought and sold but effectively abdicates his place with the Zenin

When given the chance, relents to leverage the value of his cursed technique to protect others that they deem deserving. Gojo protects Megumi, Yuta and Yuji; Megumi protects Tsumiki and later, Yuji.

In spite of the above, will execute their responsibilities of a sorcerer but will also pick and choose if they will do something outside of that obligation. Think back to Megumi's moral judgement when it came to those in the detention center and Gojo's willingness to act outside of direct orders because... he could.

The Sun characters but not without shadow.

Blessed births, even though Yuji's was... untraditional, it forged him as a powerful vessel with inhuman strength without a heavenly restriction.

Anomalous strength. Gojo for Six Eyes and Limitless which haven't been seen together in one user in over 100 years. Yuji is able to produce Black Flashes at will and at a rate which is canonically uncommon.

Experienced death and rebirth which brought about change in them. Gojo found enlightenment; Yuji, while in hiding, experienced loss, the tragedy of which marked him noticeably.

They both know the alienation of greatness. Both undergo power ups shattering the ceiling of their previously understood power thresholds and go beyond the comprehension or without the knowledge of their counterparts. Gojo, I think, knew that it would foundationally upset something between he and Geto. Yuji probably just thinks he is getting acclimated to the new world he finds himself within and doesn't realize how insane his glow up has been.

Guilt for not being able to save someone "close to them". Gojo, obviously, with Geto and Yuji with Junpei, initially, but that list has grown. Exponentially.

SUGURU

and Megumi

The Moon characters but they have something worth fighting for that gives them an air of light.

Both believe in and will act on behalf of the weak. Geto believes the strong should protect the weak and keep the strong in check. Megumi believes that if someone cannot observe the basic tenet of don't kill me, I won't kill you, he should exact punishment whether the person infringed on this basic law with him or not.

Despite their code, they still develop or have a discerning application of their morals.

But what happens when that morality is tested? Geto realizes the weak are capable of harm when he discovers the abuse of Nanako and Himiko. Megumi, if he hasn't already, will eventually come to understand that saving Yuji came at the cost of countless lives, including that of Tsumiki, in a way, even if she died by his own hand.

Know intimately the loss of someone they were close with only to find that person returned to them.. but different.

Feeling left behind by the power ups of their counterparts, they are left to their own devices. Notably, Geto spirals into depression and PTSD, Megumi, citing the difference, asks Gojo for additional lessons so he doesn't fall behind.

Doomed by the narrative? or at least by their power. Kenjaku covets Geto's body for the hold it has over Gojo and, possibly, the cursed technique that enabled him to espouse Mahito and Tengen's techniques. Sukuna covets Megumi for Ten Shadows.

Subsequently, both are possessed by something that easily outclasses them but they still are able to rebel when fighting against their counterparts. Geto's corpse strangles Kenjaku in Shibuya; Megumi manipulates how much cursed energy is output when Sukuna fights against Yuji.

Both of them recognize that, despite their counterpart's strength, they are still deserving of concern and worry. This is likely informed by the knowledge of their own weakness and inability to protect.

Outsiders to jujutsu society

Get their power/strength from ingesting something unholy; curses or cursed relics. Either way, both seem to beg the question of how long one can you these things before it poisons something within you?

Earnestly want to help people with a martyr mentality. The idea being, if I am the only one with this power then it's my responsibility to do something; Geto with his role as a sorcerer and Yuji as the only person who can consume Sukuna

Subsequently damned by this noble desire. Geto finds that the sacrifice is no longer palatable after the sacrifices of Riko and Haibara and the abuse of Nanako and Himiko. Yuji experiences survivors' guilt for every slight Sukuna is able to inflict while he continues to live.

A pattern of failure to protect (Riko and Junpei) followed by the loss of a companion (Haibara and Nanami, and what a way for their deaths to mirror one another...) as an impetus for great change in their characters.

The wealth of their goodness has the potential to cause just as big a vacuum of negativity when they break. Arguably this is what pushes the invisible hand that guides the events that radicalizes Geto and informs Mahito's insistence to break Yuji's soul.

Speaking of souls - this idea of their soul's in particularly. Gojo seeing and recognizing Geto's. Mahito feeling the edge of Yuji/Sukuna's soul. We see that Sukuna can aim attacks at Megumi's soul but... why did the goodness in Geto's persist for Gojo to love him unconditionally? How did Yuji's soul withstand external attacks from Mahito and internal attacks from Sukuna?

Where SatoSugu's fatal flaw was hubris, we don't see that with ItaFushi and that, perhaps, is the biggest indication that they're correcting the faults of their forebears while also suffering the repercussions of their failure.

Gege Akutami could absolutely have the whole story end in flames, don't get me wrong. I would 10,000% be invested to the very last page. There's no guarantee that this is a circular story, that any of these characters find peace or that any of them even survive but I can't help but see the similarities, at least as far these four are concerned.

ITAFUSHI. Forever and ever, I love them. Also obsessed with Sukuita, Sukufushi and Sukuitafushi. The three of them are constantly in my mental terrarium doing things together, to each other, and so on.

B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.

Hm, I’m gonna be so honest and say Gojo/Tsumiki as a ship and also Sukuna/Tsumiki. The first I read a fic about and it has stuck with me forever, and the other I just conjured an idea for one day and it felt like an epiphany.

Also, Megumi and Uraume in a platonic/ Sukufushi + Uraume kinda way. They’re there, and they’re participating when they feel like it, but they favor Sukuna. They just also get along with Megumi quite well, which is very cute in my opinion.

C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will.

Re: the last two questions in a sense, there really isn’t one! I am a multi-shipper till’ I die and I love grabbing dolls off the shelf and smooshing them together/ putting them in situations. If there is a will there is a way. I will ship characters who haven’t even had any time together in canon if I feel there is something to be explored there.

Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go!

Uh, okay. That last post I made with the tags, I just feel like it would be a cute one-shot, a little itafushi getting together. Nobara and Maki would totally have a stash, and would make Yuji take the biggest bong rip known to man without him knowing what he’s doing. He’s zooted, cloud nine. They’re cracking the fuck up.

Yuji doesn’t seem like the type to like, fully green out and have a bad time getting high but he might be a little like “Oh boy, have you guys ever really looked at your hands? Wild stuff going on here, lots of— oh shit. guys I am missing two fingers :(“ but then he looks up and sees his friends and he’s like “Oh, I love you guys, you guys are great we should get something to eat (:”

Megumi walks in and Nobara and Maki are giggling, having a time and a half just listening to Yuji yap on and on, and Nobara calls him Megumi’s boyfriend when he glares at them both (she’s trying to get under his skin, and get them together— finally) and immediately he gets prickly.

“Did you two get him high? What is wrong with you?”

“He’s fine, look at him.”

Megumi looks from Maki to Yuji, seeing him playing with something from in Nobara’s room and sighs, but then hears Yuji muttering something about Megumi being his boyfriend and gets super flustered.

Yuji just follows him out when he leaves after listening to Nobara and Maki poke at him a bit more, and they’re have a very awkward conversation that Yuji leads, basically just talking the whole time while Megumi winces and groans internally.

“You know we are both boys. Boy-friends. So like, we don’t have to kiss. Unless you want to! We could, we both have lips. Luckily. I only have eight fingers though and—“

Megumi would cut him off by dragging him into a room or something, staring him down, knowing he’s high and not really thinking straight but he can’t let it go. He has feelings for Yuji, has had them for a while, and if he’s going to ask him, well, what better time then when he’s being so honest.

“Are you just saying all this, or do you actually want to kiss me?”

“Oh. Well, you have nice lips. And eyes. Wow, your eyes, very— you look mad, are you mad?”

“I’m— no, I’m not mad. But you do? Do you like me?”

“Of course I like you, you’re smart and really caring, even if you don’t think so, and you always know what to do when—“

Then they kiss, Megumi can’t take Yuji rambling anymore and just rips the bandaid off. Yuji stutters a bit at first, but instantly melts into it, resting his hands on Megumi’s waist and pulling him closer. When they part, Megumi feels really dumb and freaks out a bit, but he sees Yuji’s smile and blushed cheeks and figures it wasn’t all that bad after all.

“Wow. I should get high more often”

“Don’t be an idiot.”

Yuji laughs, smiling, beaming really at Megumi as he rolls his eyes.

“So, are you hungry?”

“Is this you asking me on a date?”

Megumi smirks as Yuji stutters to reply, shaking his head and then looking off, but he still reaches over and intertwines their hands as they walk back to their building.

Chapter 10 (ItaFushi Quotes) The one where Yuji is obsessed with Megumi's tongue

Fic: I Know the End by 3sopogirl on Ao3 It’s a slow-burn, canon-compliant romance told from Itadori’s POV—basically, Yuji thirsting over Megumi Fushiguro while trying (and failing) to keep it subtle.

Megumi glanced at him—one of those looks he gave when something weighed on his mind but couldn’t quite make it to his lips. “Go ahead, then. What am I thinking?”

“That I’m the worst friend in the world,” Yuji said, turning back to Megumi. His eyes searched for confirmation of the thought he’d already had about himself.

“You’re painfully oblivious,” Megumi said, rubbing his tired eyes.

If they were throwing daggers at each other, then:

“Yeah? And you run away from every conversation.”

Megumi surged forward, his shoulders slumped and his steps uneven—nothing like his usual self.

Yuji hurried after him. “And there it is!“

Then, Megumi stopped. Yuji took a few more steps before realizing he was alone and turned back to find him standing still.

Their eyes met.

“I like you, Yuji,” Megumi said.

His eyes flickered between Yuji’s, as if searching for an answer to a question he hadn’t asked.Yuji’s mind knew Megumi didn’t mean it like that. But his foolish heart didn’t—and it skipped excitedly.

“I’ve never felt more alive,” Nobara said, her voice cutting through the silence. “Maybe I’ll stay here. Maybe I won’t go back.”

Megumi, who had been silent for most of the day, said, “We should come for Halloween. It’s Yuji here in Shibuya.”

Yuji froze, blinking. Had he heard that right? Beside him, Nobara looked just as baffled, her expression practically screaming, What the fuck did you just say?

“Huge,” Megumi corrected quickly, his face reddening. “I meant huge.”

When Yuji finally found the courage to glance at him, Megumi’s wide eyes were fixed on the floor. He wasn’t sure he’d ever seen Megumi look more embarrassed in his life.

Guess Megumi liked the way his name rolled off his tongue too, huh?

The walk back to the hotel was quiet, each of them lost in their own thoughts.

For Yuji, that meant fixating on Megumi’s slip of the tongue. Which, naturally, spiraled into thoughts about Megumi’s tongue itself, and… oh god, he was obsessed with it.

Stupid tongue he hadn’t even seen. Not that seeing it really mattered. He didn’t care about seeing it as much as he wanted to feel it. But where? Oh, this was a fun game. Stupid, sure, but fun. Where did Yuji want to feel Megumi’s tongue?

A flush of heat spread through him, igniting every place Megumi’s imagined tongue might touch. Embarrassment burned alongside it. Megumi better not be listening to his thoughts right now.

Nobara stans think nobara x Yuji got confirmed though, and tbh I find the whole yuji megumi nobara gimmick a little cringe and getting old too fast, Sukuita was just perfect

I think that those fans were joking because you know this fandom. If they were serious tho, good for them ig. I have no problem with itakugi, neither itafushi, and even if I find them a bit dull, they're okay to me.

Sukuita, on the other hand, is and will always be my number one ship because not one relationship in this manga can come close to theirs. jjk truly wouldn't exist without them and Gege made certain of that when they closed off everything with Sukuna's finger in that same shed near Yuuji's school.

They had everything, they were contrasts, mirrors, went from indifference to hate to love, had entertaining development... Hell, their situation was entertaining right from the start because it isn't your typical relationship. Yuuji's got a vile curse within him. That same vile curse that he'd ignore, detest but in the end miss and think fondly of.

The trio are just like they were before, back at the beginning of the story, so I get what you mean. I, too, find them a bit boring and their dynamic never-changing, not even after what had happened to all three of them. It's the way everything was rushed and the trio's relationship never developed beyond the basics that the best Gege could do was just deliver recycled content we've seen in the beginning (such as itakugi joking, Megumi being a brooder yet a cool guy, etc.). Also, them not talking seriously after such an event practically, and quite successfully, emotionally distanced me from them. Even if there are grounds for both itafushi and itakugi, hell even fushikugi, and itafushikugi, none of them gave anything in canon. They came close, toyed the line between acquaintances and friends but then they started acting like plot devices rather than actual characters.

I loved those little moments where they talked amongst themselves and actually discussed subjects which tackle their relationships but then... that went absolutely nowhere. Instead of further developing that, everything took an abrupt turn and now feels bland to me.

Idk maybe I'm biased but sukuita never felt forced to me. Their relationship felt natural and had developed that way. Maybe because whenever these two came into contact, you can tell there was something there. Their interactions never felt the same and whenever they reunited, they weren't really the same people– their conversations weren't as well. Like from I just ignore him, to Chew me up and my suffering, to I'd do anything to kill that creep, to I am the only one who can live with you. To me, that was more entertaining than whatever the trio's got going on.
