#based on this one fic i read where tim and jason kill the joker
Explore tagged Tumblr posts
It's literally impossible to read bat fanfiction because it's all based off those ridiculous fanon tropes that spread like crazy and people take as fucking biblical!!!!! Dick was never a jerk to Jason when he was Robin- they got along because Dick is mature as hell and in one retelling- Jason was a jerk to him!! And when he came back as Red Hood he had literally not a single damn reason to treat Dick like shit! Not a damn one! But he did, didn't he? Cause he's the fucking asshole! How dare you make Dick grovel towards that bastard! Dick has only ever tried to help him! Reached out during his Batman run, over and over! Also- Dick never put Jason in Arkham with Joker just a few cells down???? What the fuck! The Joker and all those other fuckers had been broken out of Arkham by Black Mask already for like the whole run??? Jason went to Arkham after losing to Dick, and Gordon put him in there because One he fucking deserved it, Two the literal circumstances?? And at that point!! Arkham was fucking rehabilitated itself!! By Dick!!! Because Bruce had him go undercover there for real, and Dick was actually tortured there before he got out!! So Dick put in the work to get that shit in order to actually help people!!
Dick never chose Damian over Tim- Tim refused to engage with him over his grief, shut him out, and left of his own devices! He never told Dick his suspicions on why Bruce was alive, never! And Tim is not the one to bring Bruce back either, there's a whole team at that point! Dick learns Bruce is alive through tossing his 'dead' body into a pit and the body comes to life as a zombie. Tim didn't tell him shit! Tim is also not a little crybaby- Damian cutting his line was a fucking blip on the page, he was momentarily shocked, that was it! He put Damian on his Hit List, which is why Damian cut his line. And his first attempt at "murder" is just pushing Tim off the dinosaur statue in the cave, he didn't go all assassin on him! Also Dick wasn't even there the first incident and wasn't told about the second incident. Alfred is the one who gave Damian Robin and Dick accepted him because he saw that Damian needed help! He needed guidance! He didn't fucking fire Tim the way Bruce fired him, and fuck all of you for thinking that Tim or Jason or fucking anyone has more right over Robin than Dick Fucking Grayson! He tried to promote Tim and Tim walked off. How dare yall make Dick fucking grovel towards that bastard!!!
Jason did try to kill all three of them!! Why does everyone just gloss over that like what the fuck??? Why does he get a pass for every shitty thing he's done??? "Bad writing" stfu this is the same dude that without hesitation kills random criminals, people who deal drugs, do you know how many random ass people deal drugs??? Jason doesn't give a single shit about being his own type of hero or saving Gotham his own way, nor do the people think of him as their savior!! Are you people fucking delusional?? I saw a post that said citizens would trust Jason over CASS and I cannot Believe the hallucinations yall are seeing???
It is literally downright impossible to find fics about Dick or Damian or Cass or fucking any of them that doesn't include these literal bullshit fanon takes!!! It's impossible!!! This fandom sucks!!!! You don't even need to go buy the comics, all these popular takes have been debunked right here on tumblr!!!! Also Dick can do literally everything!! He's hypercompetent as hell, die mad about it!! Jason doesn't like Wonder Woman???? Where the fuck did that come from??? Wayne Family Adventures is not real!!! Those people could not BE more out of character!!! Look at Bruce for crying out loud!!! Yall know that man ain't act like that!
Edit: leaving this here in case anyone wonders what my hot take is towards this question I was asked: "have you considered tho, that fanon is more fun..."
Well of course fanon is more fun if you're a fan of Jason or Tim. Fanon actively caters towards those two pasty white boys. Fanon actively shits on Dick and Damian though. And for Dick? He literally never did that shit! It is all made up! It's literal character assassination?? But by the fans?? And for Damian? He was 10!!! He grew up as an assassin! He was actively trying to grow with Dick's help! How can yall see him as the bad guy?? And not the literal bad guy, (Jason), and the 17 teen year old who literally fought him back btw, (Tim), like old boy did not act victimized the way you people portray. And Jesus for Cass? Cass is just a prop in fanon. So what exactly about this should be fun to me? Like seriously.

hi i just wanted to ask if you had any jason-centric fanfic recs that actually focus on him and not make it about another character (saying this because the bruce and tim stans do this so often for some reason)
because i don’t know, its odd, so much fanfic is dedicated to how jason has to grovel to get the approval of the batfam or batman and i don’t want that because like in my opinion jason was never wrong about anything actually. unfortunately it seems most fans disagree and then write not so enjoyable fanfic about it :/
looking at the tim drake stans in particular like thats the most boring robin dont drag jason into this 😭
Hi! First of all thank you so much for sending an ask! Basically these will be fics that focus primarily on Jason and do NOT have him be in the wrong (i have those too, bc they can be well written and they are unfortunately impossible to avoid). Theyre not in any particular order, I'm just going thru all my bookmarks haha!! This is long bc my bookmarks containing jasons character tag is 28 pages on ao3. i am very normal about him. anyway! here they are:
The Beating Heart is a 4-shot featuring Ghostmakes/Jason, so if thats not your cup of tea, ignore it. Bruce is very much an asshole in this so if you're feeling hateful towards him (which is based) this will scratch that itch
The Bowery Branch is a one-shot from the pov of a librarian in the bowery. It's a bunch of snapshots focusing on how the librarians there view and interact w jason throughout his life!
The Lost Titans is soo good. Jason and some other people start having dreams about an alternate timeline where they were in a titans team together. Then some shit starts to go down and they have to fix it. has minimum bat appearances iirc. great mystery too!!
hit me as hard as you can is another good one. i think bruce and jason start over at the end but it was such a journey?? the whole thing is very good. and i remember the writing being very poignant
Thank you, Next! is a one-shot focusing on Jason and the men he's loved over the years. Introspective and character study-esque. very good
so, you've killed the joker is, as the name implies, a oneshot abt jason killing the joker. he does NOT feel guilty about doing it, which is for some reason a common trope in fics.
Father-Hood is about Jason raising an infant before he has the chance to start his revenge plan. He also gets together with Eddie Bloomberg <3
Granted the Serenity is about Countdown w donna jason and kyle happening w an al caste jason i think. it has next to 0 bruce iirc.
Things We've Lost, and Things We've Gained takes place in the young justice cartoon verse. if u dont know about it the short story is: the first child superhero team was not teen titans and roy harper was kidnapped and replaced w a clone and when the og roy is found he is rlly angry lol. Jayroy.
Yellow, Red, and Green is an au where jason becomes a green lantern while digging out of his grave. has a sequel in the works afaik but still good as a standalone.
Get Used to Dying is, in my objectively correct opinion, THE Jason Todd fic. I have recommended it before, and it's still a masterpiece. It tells Jason's life in the format of a play, absolutely brilliant.
Sacrosanct is about jason & bruce's relationship, and i think just from bruce's pov, but I have to rec it on the ground of it just being *chefs kiss* also there is no "bruce is right and do you not know how he mourned you jason!! care more about bruces reaction to your death than your own plase :/" bs
folly of youth, jason introspection/character study iirc. remember it being really good. also the last scene has great imagery.
in a new york minute, everything can change WILL make you cry no matter how much you've read it. it's about the last 60 seconds of Jason's (first) life. heartbreaking.
April 27th / I was only a child is a jason visits his grave one-shot. no bruce.
I think I could have included more but my bookmarks are uh. LONG. If I have other recs I will rb this post!!

So this is going to be a list of Tim centric fics. To be clear I haven’t read very many of the comics but I love both fanon wet cat Tim and Canon feral jackass Tim. I love all the flavors of Tim and I feel like my fic recs will show that so be mindful. I’ll also try to warn for triggers as I list them but I probably won’t get everything so please please be mindful of the tags and keep yourself safe! That said here’s the list in no particular order.
The Definition of Valor by nerdpoe 10,106 words and 1 chapter. This fic is about Tim having been blinded by Ra’s after his Widower attack is forced to adapt and overcome the difficulties that comes with losing his sight. It’s a good mix of funny and serious and I personally adore the way it’s written.
The Blood on Our Hands by KelpieCodyne 8,207 words and 1 chapter. This one is about Tim getting blasted by a spell meant for the person with the highest kill count. I like how Bruce has to grapple with his kids morality and with the fact that many of them have killed before and I really love how his siblings step up and bring out their own problems with his strict moral code. If that’s something you enjoy you might like this one.
Loch & Key by jayburb (toothpasty) 12,514 words and 3 chapters. This one does have Tim being abused by his parents so TW for that. The fic itself is about a legend of Loch Gotham. It features Tim’s interactions with the Loch and the vibes are excellent. I really really loved reading this one.
In Service by smilebackwards 12,730 words and 3 chapters. This is about how Tim ends up apprenticing under Alfred instead of becoming Robin and it changes more than you would think. I really adore the interactions between Tim and Alfred and watching him learn from him. It also re-frames his relationship with Bruce which is deeply sweet because the man has an adoption addiction that can’t be stopped.
Baby Birds and Bat Caves by IzzyMRDB 30,113 words and 20 chapters. Tim goes into the cave system after a storm and it makes him weirder than he already was. It’s based on Welcome to Nightvale but Gotham style and is very fun to read. I adore watching how Tim interacts with the forces that be while the bats are panicking over a child running around Gotham and reporting on the oddities of the city. It’s just a good good fic. TW for Joker’s attack on Barbara and Jason. These are still mentioned and while I don’t find the references overly graphic others might disagree.
Growing Old with You by LilliputianDuckling This is a series with 12 works currently and 110,554 words. It’s a Timkon series where Tim and Kon are childhood friends with good father Lex Luthor, identity shenanigans, and just the struggles of growing up and falling in love. I really cannot recommend this enough if you’re a Timkon enjoyer. There is some smut in the later works and some of the vague homophobia of being 12 year old boys in the early 2010s era but nothing that’s like hate crimes, there’s also mentions of peer pressure with regards to sex but nothing happens. The warnings being said I really connected to the characters in this fic and it just felt very real in a way that was so good. This is probably my favorite Timkon series and like I said I cannot recommend it enough and no words I say will do it justice.
Where Bats and Birds Roost by Mouse_in_this_house this is a series with 26 works and 204,783 words. For warnings There is a fic in here that centers on Sexual harrasment, attempted assault and stalking all done by an original character, Ra’s also harasses Tim So for this series please be mindful of heavy themes in regards to sexual assault. There’s other warnings but I can’t remember them all so please be mindful of the tags and do what you need to do to keep yourself safe. I cannot describe exactly what this series is but it’s a focus on Tim, the Batfam and the Core Four. Tim is so Tim in this series, he’s feral and a little unhinged but also scarily competent. It feels like Tim coming into his own and building a home, building safety net after safety net and making his own. Meanwhile people are worried about him and are dedicated to trying to work it out. That and the Bats think there’s a new player on the rise and the Batfam has no idea it’s Tim. Just all in all a really cool series.
Damian Drake by InkpotSprite 6,962 words and ? Chapters. Damian gets told to find his dad without being told who it is and ends up thinking his dad is Jack Drake. I adore it when Damian ends up imprinting on Tim like a baby duck. This is very sweet and it’s very funny to watch Damian and Dick be at odds. Just a very funny lovely fic.
Alone Together by SpaceWall 22,908 words and 4 chapters. This features Batfam heavily and isn’t exactly Tim centric but I had to add it to the list because this idea for platonic soulmates changed my brain chemistry. Your soulmates are with you your whole life, as invisible forces. I cannot describe this one but it’s really really good.
The Threads That Bind by SpaceWall 5,921 words and 1 chapter. Tim is practiced in thread magic, when Jason attacks Titans tower he sees that magic first hand. I personally love fics where Tim has a special little thing that’s uniquely his, this one does that really well as it describes his relationship with his small form of magic.
Into the Brighter Night by shoalsea 162,894 words and 12 Chapters. This is a fic about Tim that takes place mostly when Tim isn’t there. It shows how his family and friends view him without him being explicitly present for most of the fic and it’s done incredibly like I’m still losing my mind over this fic. Young Justice is heavily present and is my everything. It starts with a threat against Robin and then spirals out from there. I highly recommend this one just showstopping. TW for sexual assault being brought up, it's not graphic but still be mindful.
Maybe with a Shift in Planets by SilberSkiesAtMidnigh 4,557 words and 1 chapter. For warnings there are mentions of Cassandra being abused by her father. This is a fic where Tim finds Cass on a roof before they are found by Bruce. I love how this is focused on Cass’ POV and how it makes sense of the world in her eyes. And I love the way she views Tim Just really lovely work.
To Eat Well by SilverSkiesAtMidnight 4,599 words and 1 chapter. This is a fic about Tim but it focuses mostly on Jason. When Tim is kidnapped the family is left to cope as well as they know how. Jason stress bakes. I’m adding this fic in for a few reasons, one it’s really good and super well written and two the focus is Tim being missing and the love and concern the others have for him.
Surveillance by smilebackwards this is a series with 4 works and 29,187 words. This is a Civilian Tim Au where Jason never dies and it changes things. This series is really good, I love Tim arriving late or early to the Batfam and this fic delivers it so well. Just because he isn’t Batman trained doesn’t mean he’s not competent and just really incredible as a character. A lovely series.

I don’t know if an explanation helps or hurts, but…I like explaining things.
Firstly, Red Hood’s relationship with the rest of the family varies so wildly in the comics that it’s entirely your choice. Early Red Hood nearly killed Bruce, Tim, and Damian (although people mostly focus on the time he broke into the Teen Titans’ headquarters to randomly attack Tim). Current Red Hood doesn’t kill, is part of the family, and seems to have some respect for Tim. In happy stories, Red Hood disagrees with Batman but still loves him and has a rivalry or friendship with his siblings. In angstier stories, Red Hood is actively fighting the Batfamily. I’d assume you’d want to go with the former situation, but I could be wrong.
For the rest, I italicized some fanon info too, since crossover Batman fanfics are often based largely on fanon.
Tim was Robin after Jason. He figured out Batman’s identity at 9. After Jason died, Tim decided that Batman was getting too reckless and insisted on becoming Robin to help. Tim is generally known for being intelligent and sleep deprived. Fanon has him drink lots of coffee, stalk the Bats to take pictures as a kid, and sometimes run Wayne Enterprises (equivalent of Stark Industries).
Stephanie (Steph) is the daughter of a minor villain. She became Spoiler to defeat him. She has also been Robin and Batgirl, but is normally depicted as Spoiler. She has dated Tim. Fanon has her being obsessed with purple and waffles.
Duke is Signal. While most of the Bats work at night, he works during the day. He’s the newest of the main Bats, and can manipulate light. Fanon has him be the most “sane” Batkid, but he’s far from sane.
Cass was trained by her father to be an assassin. She was not taught to speak, so she struggles with that to varying degrees, but she’s great at reading body language. She has been called Orphan, Black Bat, and Batgirl, and you can basically call her whichever you want. Fanon has her play a mediator role in the family, but she’s not very in touch with her emotions.
For Good Measure:
Dick is the first Robin. His parents were members of a circus, and were murdered. Dick became Robin at 8 or 12 to avenge them. Dick is generally an optimistic and compassionate person, but he can get angry and have huge, blowout arguments. He’s probably got the best people skills of the Batfamily. Fanon usually swings towards him being very angry or very cheerful.
Jason was the second Robin. He lived on the streets for a bit and Bruce found him stealing the Batmobile’s tires. The Joker killed him when he was 15, and he came back angry that Bruce didn’t avenge him. He alternates between following and breaking the No-Kill rule. Fanon makes him a literature nerd, and specifically has him focus on protecting Crime Alley, where he grew up.
Damian is the current Robin. His mother is an assassin, Talia al Ghul, and he is Bruce’s bio son. He can use a sword, is sometimes overly formal. He cares a lot about animals and has a bunch of pets, but can be downright murderous towards people in some portrayals. Fanon takes his formal speech up to 11, and leans into “stabby gremlin.”
Batburger is a Batman-themed chain restaurant. Meals come with figurines of one of the Gotham vigilantes. You can get your fries “jokerized”, which means they decorate them green and purple. (You asked what this is in the tags.)
Anyway, I love answering questions and explaining things about my special interest, so please tell me if you have any more questions. Good luck with your fic if you do decide to write it!!!
I’m tempted to write one of those “Spider-Man ends up in Gotham!” fanfics except I literally have not read a single Batman comic 💀. I don’t know who the hell Duke, Tim, Stephanie, or Cass are and at this point I’m too afraid to ask lol. Like. It’s a coin flip on whether Red Hood loves or despises the Bats in the fanfic and I don’t know what to believe anymore-

Soup Kitchens and Runaway Ghosts (Part 3)
*throws idea-fic at you guys* THANK YOU FOR LIKING THIS!!!! ASLDGKHSALKDGHLAKSDGH
Part 1, Part 2
****
When your boss tells you to come to Apartment 304 in Schnapp Avenue along the Upper West Side of Gotham, you don’t question it. You especially don’t question the grocery list that your boss listed down for you, neither do you question the need for fluffy blankets, pillows and paper bags.
You have to gather up the things in a box, get into your (stolen) car, and drive to your second location.
It’s just something you do.
The less questions you ask, the less you have to deny. That’s what Bill had learned in his life as a professional henchman.
However, after a long career of being a henchman, none had ever compared to the experience of working under the Red Hood. Sure, the guy threatens you with his guns, and shoots and misses your feet as a joke, but the man had been changing the lower-class neighborhood for better with all the control he has in the Gotham Underworld.
Bill never had to fear for his life, either. He didn’t have to worry about living a new day, and he didn’t have to worry about what wacky idea his boss had just cooked up. Now, all he worried is what kind of soup they’ll be making for the next day at the soup kitchen, and what new recipe the Red Hood’s favorite person, Jason, was going to teach them.
Honestly, Bill didn’t feel like a henchman at all. Maybe a butler-in-training, even if there was no hope for him being employed as a butler.
(In the future, Bill would fondly look back at this moment as he serves tea to a graying Alfred, who is relaxing in his bed as Jason... well, Master Jason, retold his semi-mundane day to his grandfather.)
Finally, he arrives.
*****
- ‘Congratulations! You killed someone! But not just someone! It’s multiple people!’ a voice in Tim’s head laughs. It sounds like a mix between murder-hungry Jason and that lunatic Joker.
- There had been a time before he killed someone. Well, he thought he killed him. Johnny Warlock. Although in the end, the guy was actually alive the whole time, Tim remembers punching the guy’s fake until he couldn’t hear the fake’s grunts, until he couldn’t hear the fake’s heartbeats. Warlock hurt Spoiler, hurt Steph who he was in love with that time; he broke her leg and made her scream. He was so beat up over being a murderer, it took a while to get over it. (Source: Robin #123, Die Screaming, Boy Wonder!)
- It also doesn’t help that he even met a future version of himself who killed everyone, donned in a fucking Batsuit and acting like going far and killing your enemies was the norm. To be fair, in this future, every single teen titan were killing and taking things too far, but there is nothing more frightening than knowing that you have the potential to kill so efficiently without remorse. (Source: Teen Titans vol. 4 #17-19, Teen Titans of Tomorrow; Robin Today, Batman Tomorrow; Running Out of Time)
- Now, he killed people. On accident. Fuck.
- Before heading to the apartment, he decided to head to the scene, staking out in a shadowed area while observing what was going on. It wasn’t good. There were police everywhere. Jim Gordon was talking with a bunch of... investigators? Wait, they’re not Gotham-based investigators.
- He threw a tiny drone into the air, letting it catch wind before controlling it to fly closer to where the investigators were, planting a few bugs onto them and turning up the volume in his installed listening device. He was too far to lip-read. (I’d like people to know that in this au, he has some bugs on every officer in Gotham.)
- “Look,” that was Jim Gordon’s voice, “I get that you want to take over investigating this case, but I’m not handing it to you. You don’t understand the going-ons in this city. Red Hood is a crime-lord, yes. But this situation looks like the Red Hood was being chased for things not related to crime. Excessive how these ‘government based agents’ took to chasin’ after a single rogue without a single thought of avoiding civilians. It was the Red Hood leadin’ them to a civilian-less road, from how it looks like, rather than being chased into an environment where they could go all out. They didn’t hesitate to run-down a civilian, much less avoid children or seniors. In comparison to Red Hood who took great care to staying off of civilian roads and within GCPD territory.”
- “I don’t trust any of ‘ya folks who say yer from the government to keep my city safe.”
- “Like you have been keeping it safe for all the years you’ve been Commissioner?” one of the investigators scoffed. “Letting caped vigilantes beat up bad guys, and receiving weekly break-outs while your officers do nothing but sit pretty in their car with a gun?”
- Tim bristled. Jim Gordon is the only person who’s trying to do anything to make sure Gotham citizens stay safe, trying his best to weed out all the corrupt officers no matter how slow it had been going. Things ARE getting better. It’s not like Jim likes relying on vigilantes, either. The only time he relies on the Bat is when there is No Other Option. But he has mutual respect with all the Bats.
- Commissioner Gordon only raises an unimpressed brow, which looks so much like Barbara’s. “You’re still not getting it,” he said, turning around and doing a great impression of Batman walking away like a badass, letting his long coat billow in the wind. Unlike the Bats, however, he doesn’t disappear from sight and only enters his car, driving away.
- The investigators start talking to themselves. Here’s what Tim gathers: 35 men had been killed from his little accidental murder. (Breathe in, Tim. You can brood about it later...) They weren’t just chasing after Red Hood, but they were also after a ‘Daniel Fenton’ and an ‘unauthorized clone’ possibly made from Daniel’s genes. This ‘Daniel’ also can’t be brought back to his home, because his parents have also teamed up with them.
- They confirmed Jason’s claims about these people hunting down ghosts. But Tim finds out from them how they not only aim to hunt them down, they aim for complete extermination. It’s ‘Daniel’s’ parents who wants to conduct experiments, given that any findings will be reported to these people.
- There’s... there’s just no way these people are actually from the government. If ghosts were real and the government were involved... wouldn’t that mean that there are actual laws on how ghosts are treated and dealt with?
- “Make sure to report to the boss about how much we need to spend to catch these ghosts.” Tim almost growls, clenching his fists. Because not only were they talking about getting rid of ghosts, but including the extermination of his definitely-not-but-totally-is-brother. He can’t let this happen.
- Once these investigators were done talking, they went into their own car. Tim made sure that his bugs wouldn’t be tracked for at least the next 3 days. Then, he opened his comms to a private link to Oracle.
- “O, I need you to search something. Ectobiology laws.”
- “...What?”
- “Laws on how ghosts are dealt with.”
- “Tim... I... fine.”
- After a few moments, Oracle cursed. “This can’t be real. There are actual laws on--- Tim, how did you find out about this? Does Bruce know about this? What the actual--”
- “I don’t think even Harvey Dent knows about this, and he was an attorney. What did it say?”
- “In summary? It’s all ‘kill on sight’ for any ghost. They’re making reforms for some of them, though. None of them good. It mostly involves research.”
- “Are there any research on ghosts?”
- “That are not just narrative reports from Ghost Hunters? Yeah, from Madeline and Jack Fenton. They’ve written so many of them, they’re probably the only scientific source. Ectoplasm... it seems to be similar to the Lazarus Pits...”
- Tim pursed his lips. He doesn’t know how much Jason wants to share about Daniel and the clone. “O, these people want to catch Jason. He has the same ecto-signature as the ghosts that they seem to like tracking down.” He needs to update his safe-house to avoid Jason and his new wards from getting caught. But also, “We might want to see if Robin and Batman has some kind of ecto-signature on them... Maybe even Dick from how much time he spends with them. I’ll try to nab some of the gadgets from these vans and see if we can turn them into our own tech.
- “You do that. I’ll update Batman on what’s going on.”
- Tim cuts the line off and sighs. His body suddenly feels heavy, and it’s not because of anything physical. It was a weight in his mind that refuses to lighten, only growing heavier and heavier.
- But he remembers what he told Barbara, and he remembers that Jason is waiting for him with hot chocolate in the safe-house he needs to upgrade.
- He pushes his body forward. It’s probably thanks to his training that his body is able to do exactly he needs to do, staying out of the people’s eyes while snatching the tech before it could be loaded in some government trailer. his head felt foggy, and he couldn’t feel his hands and legs. But his body was moving. And the next thing he knows, he’s already changed out of his costume, headed to Jason on foot.
***
- The Doctor, Theodore “Teddy” Sturgeon (HEH. I named him after some author. Have you read To Marry Medusa? don’t remember much of the plot, but damn I remember loving it!), checked over Danny again.
- Everything was healed. The vivisection and blaster wounds have healed into scars. Other parts of his body also showed some light scars, but the most dangerous ones have been healed.
- He sighed, rubbed a hand down in his face, and took a spare pillow. Then, he screamed into it.
- The smell of chocolate wafted around the apartment, making him feel nauseous, so he laid on the cold floor. Which, of course, made his nausea worse.
- “Hey, Doctor Teddy! Do you want some hot chocolate?”
- No. Maybe some soup. But Teddy was too nauseous to talk. So, he only groaned back.
- “I’ll take that as a yes!”
- Of course groaning was a mistake.
- The Red Hood, who was now dressed like a civilian named Jason, came back inside with two mugs. He handed one of the mugs to Dani, who took it with a smile. Everyone in the room could tell how shaky her hands were, and that’s why ‘Jason’ led Dani to one of the smaller couches for her to sit down on.
- Then, Jason sat down at another couch and sipped from his own mug. Thank you Mr. Red Hood for thinking he was pathetic enough to not have any of his own hot chocolate.
- That was when there was a knock on the door. The Red Hood laid his mug on the wooden table that was also in the room, before getting up to answer the door, Dani doing the same thing and running right after him.
- [And I’d like everyone to know that Dani is smol. Like, she reaches until Jason’s hips smol.]
- He heard Dani gasp. “IT’S BILL!!!”
- He heard the Red Hood sigh. “Timmers, why are you burritoed and carried by my best chef?”
- “Hrrrrnnngggg...”
- “I’m not... I’m not that good, man.”
- Huh... that last voice sounds familiar. Doctor Teddy took a great effort to stand up, groaning and feeling his knees click. Then, finally, the people came back in, with Jason heading straight to the kitchen with a paper bag... probably full of groceries, and...
- “Oh, shit, Bill??”
- “Teddy??”
- Dani blinked at the both of them, sitting back down at the small couch while picking up her mug. “The two of you know each other?”
- Know each other? They used to work under the same bosses during the first Robin’s earlier years! Teddy was trying to get his degree while also getting paid doing all the easy stuff, y’know, like bandaging other henchmen up?? He was there when Bill had lost two of his femurs to Batman. He’s the one who brought him to Dr. Thompkins’ hospital.
- During those years, both he and Bill were so desperate to make a living, they refused to see exactly how deep in crime the both of them were getting. By the time the third Robin came into the picture, they drifted apart... well, it’s not like the two of them were close in the first place, but whichever boss Teddy was with, Bill was there too. It just felt weird not seeing the other whenever they were working under a new boss.
- Teddy got his degree, tried practicing in legal stuff, got too sentimental with some patients, and got arrested for doing unauthorized surgeries on people who definitely needed them. After being released, there was no hospital willing to accept him anymore... that’s when the Red Hood recruited him... and the rest was history.
- Bill chuckled. “Small world, huh?” he said. Then, gesturing to Danny with his chin, he smiled at Teddy. “Looks like we’re going back to old times, eh?”
- Teddy, who no longer felt the effects of nausea, only nodded. “Yeah,” he said, smiling back. Then, he gestured to the kid that Bill was carrying over his shoulder. “Does he need help?”
- Bill shook his head. “Nah. The kid just needs a cup of Jason’s hot chocolate. He looks like he’s been under the influence of Scarecrow’s fear toxin.”
- Teddy winced. “Yeah, okay,” he said, stepping aside so that Bill could place the kid wrapped in a fluffy blanket on the small couch the Red Hood was sitting on earlier.
- Teddy squinted. “Is that... Timothy Jackson Drake-Wayne?????”
- Bill nodded.
- Oh shit... he knew that the Red Hood, Jason, looked familiar. Does that mean that his name is actually, truthfully Jason?? THE Jason Peter Todd-Wayne??? Second adopted son of Bruce Wayne who died????? No... no... maybe they just look alike. And have the same name. Or the Red Hood chose that name specifically because he LOOKS like Jason.
- But that makes no sense! The Red Hood shoots anyone who disrespects the dead. He’d be a hypocrite if he wasn’t... Jason...
- Red Hood, who might also actually be known as Jason, walked into the room with a tray carrying three mugs. He handed one to Bill, then one to Timothy, who accepted it with a tired thank you, and then a mug towards Teddy. Upon accepting it (and no, Teddy did not squeak while he thanked him! *sobs* he didn’t!!), Teddy realizes that his mug was filled with good ol’ chicken soup.
- Okay, whatever. You don’t throw under the bus someone who feeds you well. Taking a sip, he inwardly cried at how good it was.
- “So, the kid sleeping on the couch is your brother?” Bill decided to ask, taking a seat on a chair he dragged from the kitchen.
- “Yeah... kinda... but we like thinking we’re siblings!”
- “Hm... how long has he been out?” Bill asked.
- Here, the small girl seemed to become smaller. Her face turned sad, and it broke Teddy’s heart because no small child is supposed to look that sad. The Red Hood... Jason patted the girl’s back to comfort her.
- “He’s been out even before she took me to check on him, Bill,” said Jason. “He’s also never woke up when the Red Hood brought him over to Doc.”
- Oh, ohhhhhh, so we’re keeping Jason and the Red Hood being the same person a secret? Okay, yeah, Teddy could do that. Wait, he called him Doc, and only Doc. He doesn’t want Bill to misunderstand that he’s being legal in his Doctor stuff. He’s as much in crime as Bill probably is.
- But he doesn’t have time to point that out, because Timothy Drake-Wayne grunted, bringing out from his blanket a plastic bag full of tech, looking a bit more lively now that he’s drunk the hot chocolate.
- “Is everyone in this room in the know about who’s chasing after... the kids?” he was looking at Jason for confirmation, who nodded.
- “The official story,” said Timothy, “is that the ‘Government Investigation Ward’ or GIW is after the Red Hood, due to his constitution being similar to that of a ghost.”
- Bill blinked. “I’m sorry... what?”
- Timothy ignored him. “Ghost is just a general term for anything that has ectoplasm. The real story is that they’re after the kids AND Red Hood, because all three of them have ectoplasmic components in their body.”
- Bill looked to Teddy with a question in his eyes. Ectoplasm? his gaze seemed to ask.
- “When I was treating Danny over here, he had some green substance in his blood,” he explained. “It both enhanced his healing and the infection, so his body was literally at war on the inside.” Turning his gaze to Timothy, he confirmed, “That green substance must be what you’re calling ectoplasm, right?”
- Timothy nodded. “It is. I don’t know the full description of what this ectoplasm does, but it seems that all three seem to naturally create ectoplasm in their bodies.”
- “When the Red Hood said to the Bats that the GIW seemed to follow him due to what he was, it mostly meant that the GIW was following them through their ectobiological signatures.” Timothy then shook the plastic to make all of their attention point to it. “The tech in this plastic bag? I took it directly from the vans before they were retrieved by the government. Once I figure out how they managed to sense ectoplasm with these things, I’m going to upgrade the security measures in this room... and then to the new safehouse we’re going to move into.”
- Bill whistled. “I knew that the Waynes were probably sponsoring the Bats behind the scenes, but to be the ones personally making their gadgets? That’s amazing.”
- Doc suddenly put the pieces together... techy... Timothy Drake-Wayne being Jason Todd-Wayne’s step-brother...
- Oh shit. That’s Red Robin, isn’t he?!?????
- “You okay, Doctor Teddy?? You’re looking a bit pale over there...” said Dani with worry on her face.
- “I’m... I’m fine.” NO I’M NOT!!! “I’m just... processing that the government... is using the people’s taxes to chase after people who are very clearly alive....”
- Dani snorted. “You don’t know the half of it! But, yeah! This IS where all the taxes are going. That’s why a whole bunch of people where me and Danny came from commit tax fraud!”
- Jason huffed. “Danny and I, Dani.”
- Dani gave Jason the stink-eye.
- Jason then pointed a thumb to the kitchen while looking at Timothy. “The dining table is clean. You could do your stuff there. There’s also extra hot chocolate on the stove.”
- Timothy gave a small thanks. But before Timothy could pass Jason, Jason took him by the shoulders and whispered into his ears that the Doctor couldn’t hear.
(”Thanks, Tim... I’ll chat with you later, yeah?”
Tim shrugged. “Or we don’t have to talk about it.”
Jason pats his shoulder. “Whatever makes you comfortable...” What else would Dick say, Jason wondered. Then, he added, “Just know that I’m here to listen when you do wanna talk.” Because there’s no fucking way he’s letting Bruce talk to Tim about what happened.
Tim was quiet, eyes shining under the dim light of the living room. “Yeah... thanks.
Nailed it.)
- Timothy then briskly disappeared into the kitchen.
***
- The investigators, who are actually known as Operative J and Operative K, using the aliases John Jones and Keith Keys, stopped their car in front of Wayne Manor, their gadget blinking and beeping softly as they stood in front of the gates. “Two ectoplasmic signatures here, over,” Operative J, John Jones, said into his comms.
- Operatives L, M and N were in front of Arkham Asylum, their own gadgets beeping softly. “One in Arkham, over.”
- Operative O, who was staking out in Schnapp Avenue, put his binoculars down. “Three in Schnapp Avenue: Daniel, the clone and an unknown man. Apartme----”
- Operative O wasn’t able to complete his report, because he was thrown into a wall, wheezing as he slid down.
- Then, he felt an electric shock to his neck, putting him to unconsciousness.
- “Operative O. Operative O, respond!”
- The Operative’s comms were crushed. Then, Operative O received another electric shock, frying any trackers he may have on his body that may lead the other government freaks to his location.
- Nightwing turned on his own comms. “O. Message Hood and Red Robin. Tell them that their location has been compromised.”
- “On it.”
- Nightwing then walked up to the unconscious Operative, picking him up by the back of his collar, and dragging him out of the rooftop. Some interrogations were in order.

Why don't you like Maribat? Why do you think it's a spite or salt ship?
This is presumably because of my Adrigaminette post or the whole Maribat being on the ship list thing.
Quick disclaimer: if you read/ship/write/like Maribat, cool! This is not an attack. This is me answering why I, personally, do not like it. It’s tagged anti, and salt, so it should be filtered. Please don’t harass me over it.
Another note before we start: a lot of what I’m about to write is based on what I’ve read, fic wise or meta, and I blocked off the Maribat tag and fandom a long time ago. It may have changed over there-I doubt it, and I have zero desire to go and look-but this is based on what I’ve seen and read about.
There are, principally, three reasons I can’t stand Maribat, why I think it’s a spite/salt ship.
1). I don’t like Damian Wayne.
2). I don’t like how Damian and the DCU are written in Maribat.
3). Maribat is a mutated salt fic.
If you want to see my reasons why, the rest is under the read more.
1). I don’t like Damian Wayne.
Damian’s not just my least favorite Robin, ranking behind any of the others who have born the name. He’s my least favorite Batfam sidekick overall.
Part of this is his introduction, where he’s a violent, murderous, arrogant, entitled, snotty little brat of a thug. Lest we forget, one of his first acts is to go out, kill a guy, cut off his head, stuff a grenade into the decapitated head’s mouth, and try to blow up Tim. This is his introduction! There are a number of other occasions, including how he treats Jon, his best friend, and the rest of his siblings.
Another part is that he believes that he deserves to be Robin simply because he’s Bruce’s son, and therefore has the blood right to be Robin, to become Batman, and damn anyone else, who are all pretenders. Doesn’t matter that those characters might have a right to become Robin, or the future Batman, he’s the bio son, he deserves it!
Additionally, Damian feels.....not unnecessary, but repetitive, in his actions/characterization. There are other characters who can perform pretty much the same way for whatever storyline is necessary, without including Damian.
Trained by an abusive family to be the best, as an assassin and warrior? Cassandra.
A killer who breaks the main rule of his mentor, which causes tension and strain in the family? Jason.
Incredibly intelligent and talented? Tim.
Damian isn’t unique in what he does, and while that can make him an interesting character, it can also make the focus on him unnecessary.
As well, so much of Damian’s actions and motivations feels like he gets away with stuff, in-universe, because he’s Bruce’s biological son, and so Bruce gives him too much slack, and out-universe, because the writers let him/the fans will defend him. He gets woobified, or leather pantsed. Which leads to:
2). I don’t like how Damian and the DCU are written for Maribat.
For all his (numerous) faults, when written well, Damian can be an interesting character. For example: How does he deal with being deeply insecure? By putting on a mask of arrogance and overconfidence.
Some more examples: How does Damian act like an actual child, when he’s never had a childhood? How can he be a hero, if he’s been trained to be a killer? Can he ever catch up to his siblings, or will he feel like they’re always better than him?
Damian’s sense of being Batman’s son, of being the heir to the Cowl, slams right up against the idea of the Batfam: that there are people who have just as much of a right to call Batman their father/father figure, people who are just as talented and skilled and capable as Damian himself is, if not more. Watching Damian develop, when he’s written right, is actually enjoyable; mainly because when it’s done right, it shows Damian actually progressing and growing, becoming more of a person, with friends and interests. Most times, seeing Damian with his pets can be adorable, same with when he hangs out with Jon.
Is he still a brat? Still sometimes a bit too much of a Demon, an al-Ghul? Yes, but that’s always going to be part of him, and as long as he’s shown to try and grow, or gets called out on that, it’s less of an issue (There’s a completely different rant to be written about how DC likes to chuck character development or backstory into the trash when it suits them for a new run. Damian gets hit with this, as does Tim, or they get handed the idiot/conflict ball, but not the space for it).
Maribat hurls this all out the window. Damian’s bad traits are all “fixed” offscreen-he’s developed, matured, gotten better, whatever you want to call it. It’s basically a writer’s hand wave to make Damian into the character who will be the lead of the story, perfectly suited for his main role of being Marinette’s boyfriend and utterly devoted to her every whim and will. He’s enchanted by her at first glimpse, and defends her against everyone who hates her, because no one can understand her like he can!
Uh, what? This is not Damian Wayne. Even at his best, he’s no broody boy, pulled from his “dark path” by the love of a gentle girl. He’s a Jerk with a Heart of Gold-emphasis on the Jerk. There’s a reason his nickname usually involves “Demon.” Is Damian trying to get better? Yes. But even then, he’s not the type to immediately fall in love. He takes a while to warm up to people, for them to earn his trust, and Marinette would not be like that?
Let’s say that Robin is in Paris for a case, he runs into Ladybug and Chat, and after they explains what’s going on, Robin gives them a stare over his mask, and goes “TT! What a worthless hero, I would have caught him already.” LB and Chat would probably want to deck him, and that’s before he keeps talking.
Same with if Damian transfers to the class, or they meet on a field trip to Gotham. Damian’s not gonna care about some random French teenagers on a tour, or if he was transferred he’s gonna be trying to figure out why his father sent him to Paris, and be focused on the mission, not making friends.
Of all of the Robins, the ones that would be the most likely to capture Marinette’s interest would be Dick or Tim, not Damian. He would remind her too much of Chloe, as Damian, and as Robin, he would be dismissive of Ladybug’s abilities, which would absolutely piss her, and Chat Noir, off.
In characters that aren’t Damian, no one seems to be written properly over in Maribatland. One huge example is that Marinette is so beloved, so pure, that she can make any character fall in love with her, and reform by her pure goodness, including a fic where the Joker-THE JOKER!-becomes her “Uncle J,” and pranks Lila on her behalf.
Uh-huh. Sure. Completely and totally something that one of the biggest, most sadistic twisted, notorious villains in pop culture would do. Maribat winds up worshipping the ground that Marinette walks on, cause she’s “Teh best evar!”
Which then leads to my third and final point:
3). The whole Maribat concept is a mutated salt fic.
Most of the themes you’ll find in Maribat? You will find in nearly every salt fic.
Maybe my biggest issue with the whole Maribat idea is that it doesn’t feel like a proper crossover, which, at their best, explore how characters from one universe and their rules would interact with characters from another universe, and the rules of that one. Putting ML and DC together is a rich opportunity to play with concepts in both worlds!
And yet, it’s mainly used to bash ML characters who the writers despise, predominantly Adrien, Alya, and Lila, with members of the class thrown in depending on feeling, and potentially even Marinette’s parents! The only “good” ML characters are the ones who are on Marinette’s side, usually Luka, Kagami, a Chloe who for some reason has been redeemed and is now Marinette’s best friend, and whatever members of the class the writer decides to throw in there.
You’ll notice it’s not called “MiracuBat”, or LadyBat and Bat Noir-it’s MariBat. It’s meant as a focus on Marinette, making her-the hero of the Miraculous Ladybug franchise, someone in-story in story who is incredibly smart and talented and the leader of her team, future Guardian-even more awesome.....by beating down everyone else around her.
Marinette is simultaneously treated as an beaten-up, beaten-down walked-on carpet, and the best person to ever exist ever, go who only needs a group of new, different, better people to recognize that and save her from the clutches of those greedy and ungrateful assholes! That doesn’t include the fics where she’s the unknown child of a superhero or supervillain, making her even more special.
It’s Chameleon salt, class salt, with pointy ears and a cape on.
Some specific examples.
Adrien: Adrien is a spineless doormat who prioritizes Lila over Marinette, or an entitled bastard sexual harasser, only fixated on Ladybug, or even both. Sometimes it’ll get worse, as Adrien will threaten or abandon Marinette if she steps off of his “high road,” and Chat will be a budding rapist, stalking or capturing Marinette after he’s learned she’s Ladybug, while ignoring her prior to that. He will, of course, have his ring stripped and handed off to Damian, who is the “true” soul of Destruction and so therefore a “perfect match” to Marinette’s Creation soul. Occasionally it will be Jason, or Tim, or Dick, but the key thing is that it’s not Adrien!
While Damian’s issues are magically fixed, Adrien gets no such courtesy. Adrien has been abused, just like Damian, and while Damian’s abuse is more extensive and extreme, abuse is abuse. If anything, if Damian met Adrien, he would probably see another abused kid, and want to be his friend/have his “adopt stray person!” Instincts go off. I can much more imagine Damian dragging a bewildered Adrien into the Batcave and yelling “Father I’ve found another one for you to adopt!” than I can Damian immediately hating Adrien, or Chat, simply for breathing.
We never see Clark taking Adrien under his wing, or Bruce, or any of the other Batfam; nor any of the other Justice Leaguers. We never see Selina try to fight Bruce over the kid, because he’s cat-themed, and Selina can train him, this one’s hers Bat, get off!
Adrien’s never treated as a kid, or given actual development. A major complaint among salters is that Adrien is treated as perfect and never develops, and in fic, rather than developing him, Adrien either remains static, with his flaws narratively exploded, or is developed negatively. He’s there to be beaten up on and punished by the writers, if not actually physically beaten up by characters in the fic.
Alya: the not-so-good friend, the cheap excuse for a journalist, the awful person who abandons Marinette for Lila and her “connections.” Never mind that Alya was Marinette’s friend from the beginning, or that Marinette’s chosen her multiple times for a Miraculous. One instance of questioning Marinette about Lila, and Alya’s a backstabbing bitch.
Maribat treats Alya as neglectful, bossy, domineering and submissive at the same time to Marinette and Lila respectively, and as a journalist, the worst of the worst. She’s played as a two-bit paparazzo, and once again, the DCU is used to punish her. We don’t see Alya get mentored by Lois or Clark-indeed, if they notice her, it’s with disdain or disappointment. Often, they’re crushing her under their heel, calling her not only a bad journalist, but a bad friend/person. This forgetting, of course, that Alya runs her blog as a hobby so far, she’s only a teenager, and that she’s had Marinette’s back against Chloe and Lila.
The Class: the dupes or allies as needed. Class salt levels depend on what the writer needs. If they’re pro-class, they’re all on Marinette’s side, aside from Alya Adrien and Lila. Chloe, for some ungodly reason, is “redeemed” nigh instantaneously, and often will become Marinette’s best friend, if that isn’t Kagami already. Kagami will drop Adrien like a wet tissue, never trying to reconcile him with the clas, or encourage him to stand up for himself, or if she does, Adrien, of course, will not listen.
If the writer is anti-class, whoo boy. Openly mentally, emotionally, physically abusive to Marinette, the worst gang of people you would ever have the displeasure of meeting, they all need to be in Arkham.
We never see any of the class make friends with the Batfam, the Titans, Young Justice-unless they’re on Marinette’s side, of course. There’s no Alix stopping Selina at the Louvre, for instance, or Max hanging out with Babs. It’s all based on how Marinette is treated as to whether or not the class is portrayed as being worse than the worst of the Rogues Gallery.
Wrapping it all up, Maribat has made me dislike the entire concept of a DC/ML crossover.
Even if someone had written an non-salt, in-character crossover, I don’t know if I would read it, simply because the well has been that poisoned.

What’s a Batman story you wish someone else would write for you instead of writing yourself??
Gotta tell you, I got super excited when I got this ask, because there are so many things!! That I would love to see happen!! That I’ll never get around to writing!! So uh, strap in because this is gonna be a big ol’ list :) I’m gonna organize these so that it starts with gen ideas and then switches to darker ones (otherwise, really in no particular order). Also, because it’s me, many of these are Dick-centric.
1. First up is a Batfam Hogwarts AU, but with the specifications that Dick is a Slytherin, Jason is a Ravenclaw, Tim is a Slytherin, and Damian is a Hufflepuff. Skalidra actually made an amazing post about this that I agree with so fucking much, and I want a fic that does this justice.
2. Batbros are actually blood bros. I know there are a couple of these already out there, but not the way I picture it in my head, so here you go: Bruce knows about Dick while the kid is growing up, visits the circus any time it’s in town, takes Dick out for ice cream & shit like that, but Dick thinks this is just some family friend his parents like him hanging out with. It’s not until Mary and John fall that Dick learns the truth about his parents. For Tim – Janet never really wanted a kid, so when she and Bruce sleep together (up to you to figure out why) and got pregnant, she was like “okay brucie as soon as this pops out you can keep it” which, once Tim was born, Bruce did. Jason can go so many ways, so up to you!
3. Transgender Dick!! Yes, these are already out there. Yes, I want so many more! Give me the struggle of coming to the realization while amongst Gotham’s high society. Give me extra supportive Bruce or a Bruce that just can’t wrap his head around the concept and absolutely fails to be in any way a good parent of a trans kid. Or take the extra step and give me a non-binary Dick!!! I don’t know if I’ve ever seen one of those, and as an enby individual, I really would love to.
4. Jason as a teacher. Do whatever the fuck you want with that, but I want to see Jason teaching literature. Still in the superhero world, no alternate world where Batman isn’t a thing. I want a Jason who’s been Robin and died and come back and been Red Hood and is a teacher.
5. I had a dream about Dick being a clone, and then an idea popped up behind it: In the Young Justice cartoon world, the Light makes another clone of Superman. But this time, the human DNA they used to stabilize the Kryptonian part isn’t Lex Luthor’s DNA, but Batman’s! That Superman-Batman clone is Dick. While Conner gets rescued by the YJ team, Dick (or whatever title CADMUS gave him, like how Conner was just called “The Superboy”) isn’t found, and is trained to fight against the team of young heroes as the Light’s weapon. Dick gets captured eventually and Bruce&Clark find out about their clone baby. Throw in some Superbat if you feel like it, or just Two Bros And A Baby. Either way, I would kill for this.
6. Ok you know how at one point or another Damian, Jason, and Cass were all members of the League of Assassins? Well, what if there was overlap? I want the three of them working for the League and knowing each other. I don’t know if this even works out at all but I just think this would be kinda cool, especially if it includes Bruce finding out about Damian or about Jason being alive and gaining a daughter along the way.
7. While we’re on the subject of League of Assassins, all four of the boys work for the League!! Do with this what you will, I merely present the concept to you.
8. Secret Agents. Just…just give me them as spies. Pls.
9. Dead Robins Club that ACTUALLY INCLUDES DICK BECAUSE Y’KNOW HE DIED. It’s a pet peeve of mine, when people write these kind of fics and include Tim and Steph (neither of which actually died) but not Dick, even though he did die for at least a couple minutes. Please stop ignoring Dick’s trauma guys, I beg of you. There’s one amazing fic between Jason, Damian, and Dick, and I want so many more of stuff like that.
10. Greeks/Roman Gods AU where Dick is the God of Death and king of the Underworld instead of the springtime god. There’s a really great jaydick fic out there that has this, but it’s abandoned, and I rally really want more of a Dick like this.
11. AU in which Bruce is the youngest member of the Justice League, and is still the badass leader he is in canon. No one in the League knows the truth, but it’s not like Bruce ever said I’m in my 20s or older, he just. Never mentioned he just graduated high school and is working on his accelerated bachelor’s degree.
12. A fic that addresses the fact that Dick has, in canon, been buried alive. I might one day write this, but I have a lot of projects that I do know I’m going to write, so this is wayyyyyyyyyyyy down the line, long enough that I’d be very happy to see someone write it instead. Bonus points if it’s a fic about Dick and Jason, and the fact that Dick killed Joker also comes up.
13. Tamaranean!Dick. And I actually have a whole word/plot for something like this that I’m never gonna write so if you wanna do this hmu I have THOUGHTS
Ok boys and girls and enbys we’re about to hit the dark shit so turn back if you don’t want to have to read it. You’ve been warned.
14. Ancient Rome AU in which Bruce is a senator and owns his robins as slaves (gladiator-wise and otherwise) who try to earn their freedom but Bruce likes using them too much (both for himself and in gaining control over others, like sending one of them to seduce somebody to gain leverage or steal something or what have you) and so he keeps changing what will gain them their freedom.
15. Auction fic where Dick is drugged and kidnapped and auctioned off to a bunch of villains. Yes, fics like this exist. Yes, I would like Many More.
16. Brusladick where Bruce has some Bad Thoughts about Dick but can’t bring himself to act on them, but he wouldn’t mind letting someone else do it, and who better than Slade Wilson, who absolutely wants to fuck Dick. So Bruce sets up a camera in the room and gets off to all the hard shit being done to Dick, but Slade breaks their agreement a little and tells Dick that Bruce is watching.
17. In an ABO universe, Dick is an omega. The world is pretty modern overall, of course there will always be some level of sexism but it’s not a large issue. But there’s this far-right terroristic-type group that thinks omegas are just good for ding as they’re told and being bred and have made it their mission to “fix” omegas who think they deserve equal rights, and they get ahold of Dick, sending a video to Bruce saying they’re return Dick when he’s better. For some reason Bruce and Co can’t find Dick for a long time, and by the time they do Dick’s severely traumatized and been conditioned into obedience and submission towards alphas.
18. In the Young Justice cartoon world, while Kaldur is undercover in season 2, an interaction with Deathstroke reveals something horrible about Nightwing’s past, and Kaldur has to act like hearing these graphic, awful things about his friend. After it’s all over, he goes to Dick and mentions Deathstroke saying something and Dick kind of shuts down and says like “How many people heard what he said?” There is a twitter thread between me and a friend on this very subject if you need inspiration ;)
19. Something based on this amazing art
20. Bruce is hella abusive. Dick lets himself be Bruce’s outlet so he won’t hurt the others. This, of course, comes to light. Yes, shit like this exists. But I pose you a question – is there ever too many? And has it been done by you yet?
21. Brainwashing. Just, give me brainwashing. Turned against your family, used and mocked by your enemy, kneeling “willingly” at your enemy’s feet. Bonus points for all kinds of abuse.
Well, that’s my list!! Go off and do great things for me! Thanks for the ask!!

Missing in Action Part I
In case y’all haven’t noticed, I write batfam fics, Damian centric, whump or hurt/comfort. So guess what this is? If you guessed a hurt/comfort Batfam fic with the whole batfam going out of their minds trying to find Damian then you get a virtual gold star.
Now throw that out. There are no gold stars in the real world.
Anyways, just FYI I’ve only read some of the comics and watched the movies so my timeline is probably complete crap. This is set during Bruce’s ‘death’ when Dick was Batman, but I’m just going to assume that Tim, Jason, Stephanie and Cass were all still around somewhere, so yeah they’re in this story. I like the big family dynamic, ok?
IMPORTANT TO THE PLOT:
I know the Joker is either dead or not really a problem (in arkham? Insane?) in the timeline where Damian is Robin and Bruce is dead but we’re going to make this an AU for the Worry purposes.
It should’ve been a routine patrol, so why did Dick have reason to worry? He never should’ve let down his guard. Maybe if he hadn’t made a promise to Damian for ice cream after patrol, his little brother would’ve been on higher alert. Maybe then the clowns that jumped out of the shadows wouldn’t have been able to knock him out and make off with the littlest robin.
Dick Grayson was a man prone to worry. His heart raced, his brain hiccuped, he almost had to pull over to avoid throwing up in the Batmobile.
It was his and Dami’s night to patrol, finally, after Dick had been in bed with a broken wrist for days. Even Gotham seemed to notice the duo’s good mood and gave them a beautiful, peaceful night to enjoy. It was night’s like those when Dick didn’t mind the cowl as much - and even then, he couldn’t help but see Bruce in his own shadow.
“Hey, Robin,” Dick paused, dropping into a dark alley and turning to his partner, “what do you say we take a break after this?”
“Tt,” came Damian’s customary response, “isn’t that highly unprofessional, Batman?”
Dick gestured to the calm air and the sparkling stars, almost visible despite the thick canopy of smog. “I don’t think we’ll be missed.”
Of course, false hope for the bat family was karma’s calling card, and she reared her ugly head not a second later.
Dick noticed looming figures appear at the end of the alleyway just as Damian spun at the sound of footfalls behind them. They were hemmed in by six thugs at least. Large ones.
As the goons lumbered towards them, Batman and Robin armed themselves back to back. One of the figures stepped into the light - if you could call it that - and Damian bristled at his appearance. Thick clown makeup marred his face, sinister eyes leering at him.
Eight in total hemmed them in, with clubs and other blunt objects. That was almost worse than knives or guns; weapons made to kill. It was obvious these adversaries had other plans for them.
During the fight, Damian made a mistake. It almost never happened, but he let instincts and impatience takeover. He launched himself onto the shoulders of one of the goons, dispatching him. Damian didn’t even notice he had left Dick open to an attack from behind, without so much as a warning.
A club crashed down on Batman’s head, dropping him like a sack of potatoes. Damian heard the undignified thump and realized his error, yelling a string of curses in arabic.
Dick was harder to take down then he looked, but heavily concussed with two goons sitting on his back would do it. They took off his utility belt and tossed it aside, laughing as he sluggishly clawed at their weight.
Dick was forced to watch as the rest of the thugs that remained standing went after his baby brother. Four large men with short range blunt weaponry shouldn’t have been this difficult, Damian knew. However his mind was betraying him, racing with thoughts of his mistake and his brother’s well being.
A well placed two-by-four and a hard swing later, Damian crumpled to the cobblestones.
“No,” Dick groaned, reaching for his robin, “leave him alone!” He shoved again at the crushing weight on his back but he had no leverage, and could barely tell up from down.
One of the men picked up Damian and slung him over a shoulder. The other three sneered down at the fallen Batman, snarling at them like a wild animal.
“We don’t need this one,” A man sitting on Dick’s back said, “but we aren’t supposed to kill him.”
“I’d like to,” the one holding Damian laughed, “but my hands are full!” He made a point at jostling Damian. Dick’s heart wrenched at the sound of his littlest brother’s groan.
Following a round of laughter, they knocked Dick out.
Dick woke to a horrifying scene. Damian was gone, the goons were gone, it was over an hour later. Dick’s head was pounding, blood sticking to his neck, rushing in his ears. A jack-in-the-box sat on the sidewalk in front of him. Dick crawled towards it, fumbling to get it open, fingers numb. It popped right out of his grip, and he nearly flinched. A tinny laugh rang from the contraption as a clown face wobbled on the end of a spring. As if Dick didn’t know it was the Joker as soon as he saw the goons.
The Joker had Damian. Dick suddenly felt very, very cold.
Joker’s thugs really were imbeciles, Damian thought as he came too. First of all, he was being carried like a sack of flour, giving him full access to the large man’s vulnerable back. Second, his utility belt was still on his waist. Can’t get good help these days.
Damian felt warm and wet liquid in his hair, undoubtedly blood, but not enough to concern him.
Somehow the lugs had climbed a building on third street, only ten blocks from the scuffle. Damian let his head bounce to the side as the man walked to get a glimpse at the moon. He bit back a sigh as he realized he’d been out for almost half an hour. He was pathetic, letting a little hit to the head do him in so swiftly for so long. At least the overabundance of incompetence from Joker’s group made up for some of his clearly unacceptable failings.
A plan of action was slowly turning in Damian’s brain, and he cursed his own weakness - silently - as a headache began pounding a steady beat. His thoughts were sluggish, so he finally decided to just let the idiots take him back to their lair. It involved the least amount of work for him. He could turn on his tracker when he got there and maybe take down the Joker in the rescue attempt.
Damian counted another fifteen minutes had passed before their van came into view. It was then that Damian’s brain caught up with the situation. Sure, the thugs were feckless moron’s, but it was obvious their plan was well thought through. They had been waiting for Damian and Dick, meaning they’d probably been following them for a few blocks at least. Somehow they’d managed to go undetected. They worked together to accomplish their goal. Their getaway van was nowhere near the scene, in case Batman or Robin managed to get out a distress call.
Robin realized he was not dealing with common thugs, but men who worked for the Joker; a psychopath who was one of the few people to actually cause Batman difficulty. Even beat him. Even kill a robin.
Damian didn’t have time for subtlety. He grabbed a birdarang and sliced the man carrying him all the way up the back. Flipping off him, Damian landed in a spray of blood and shocked yells. Seven goons were suddenly running at him, but they were unarmed. Their blunt weapons had to be discarded to climb several buildings on their trip, and they hadn’t been valuable enough to keep on person anyways. Damian had been counting on their weapons just being conveniently found refuse.
Jumping to the side, Damian unsheathed the katana on his back, slashing a them non-lethally. His concussion made him slow, they were closing in. Damian jumped down the building, vaulting down the fire escape. They followed him, much slower, as he ran across the street.
Damian realized too late he’d ran down a dead end, with their van just across the street. They had picked up some weapons by now, though they were cut and bleeding, they were ever the more sinister.
The fire escape of the apartment building at least gave him the higher ground, which he used to slash at the goons and keep them at bay. He kicked at their heads, even resorting to hissing at them like a wild animal. They got in a few hits, which Damian attributed to his slowness from being concussed.
He felt a rib crack as he was caught in the side with a metal bat, too distracted trying to keep one from grabbing his ankles through the bars to notice another climbing the ladder.
One of them had gotten a butcher’s hook from somewhere - probably a garbage can, gross - and used it to slash at Damian’s calves and arms. A hand closed around his ankle as Damian tried to defend himself, yanking him onto his back. He heard a loud pop and yelled as his ankle was dislocated, maybe even broken.
A last burst of energy was all Damian had left, but he gave them hell. He was surprised to find the adrenaline clearing, leaving him in an alleyway with eight unconscious, bloody thugs.
Damian only managed to get a few buildings away before he collapsed on a roof, bleeding and sore. He pulled out his communicator and balked at the smashed metal. Broken. Useless. Not unlike him at the moment. Damian groaned, flopping on the roof.
Damian had no idea if Dick was where they’d left him, or if Dick was even alright. He had no way of contacting his older brother, the batcave, anyone. His grappling hook was nowhere to be found, his tracker was cleaved in half from the hit from the bat, and his phone was completely out of batteries.
So... he was walking home. On a dislocated - maybe broken - ankle. Damian let out a long suffering sigh and got to his feet.
Ten minutes before his minions were supposed to arrive back at base, the Joker got a call from one of them.
“Yes, Dave?”
“Oh, actually my name-”
“Speak!”
“Right, well... the kid got away.”
“The... the little kid. Robin. The itsy bitsy can’t-be-more-than-fourteen-years-old Robin.” Joker punched the nearest person as it was affirmed that, yes, his well-briefed goons had lost the punk. Weeks of planning, wasted.
“Get back here so I can disembowel you myself!” Joker growled. The kid getting away would definitely put a damper on the fun he had planned. But maybe it wasn’t a total loss.
Dick was looking for clues and searching nearby alleys, trying not to get too distracted by his all-encompassing worry. He’d already called Alfred and not only had their been no word from Damian but both his tracker and communicator were out of commission.
As Dick sprinted across the street for the fifth time, thinking he saw a glint in the trash, the phone booth rang. It was odd to even still have phone booths, let alone have them ring with no one around to answer. Dick picked up the receiver on the last ring.
“Batman, I hope?” A sickeningly familiar voice leered. Dick seethed, it had been a long time since he’d heard that voice, but he would never forget it. Joker took his silence for an answer.
“I have your Robin, in case you were wondering. I see you got another upgrade. A shiny new version. Adorable!” Dick let out a low growl, sounding more like Bruce than usual, “Don’t touch him.”
“Oh, did you want him back? Already?” Dick clenched his fist, trying not to break the phone before he heard whatever sick game Joker wanted to play.
“Good news for you, then! He’s waiting for you, in the place your little birdies go to die.” The Joker hung up, and Dick was panicking again. Where did robins go to die? The park? Was there some communal bird cemetery in Gotham? Was Joker planning to kill Damian? Dick needed to get answers, asap. He needed backup.
So since I did a lot of explaining already, I’m just going to end this with a friendly goodbye and a reminder that I understand this story does not follow the plot of the comics probably at all? It’s ok guys, I’m not writing for accuracy.

Not to be super dramatic or anything, lolol, but just one, just one multi-chapter “bringing Jason back into the family/derailing the worst of the UTRH events” fic that mentions Dick killing the Joker because he mocked Jason’s death.
Just one for the love of Batcanon please can we have just one, lololol.
Like, I’ve read one-shots where they discuss it, and some of them are great, but in all my searching I have never found a single full ensemble family fic specifically about reuniting Jason with the family, that so much as acknowledges that Dick grieved for Jason enough that he beat the Joker to death with his bare hands for making light of Jason’s death.
Jason may have focused on Bruce not killing the Joker, but ultimately he just wanted to feel that someone cared that the Joker took Jason away from his family.
And Last Laugh is literally the single most relevant piece of Batcanon in terms of that single most definite want Jason has!
It absolutely kills me that its been minimized and ignored as much as it has. And for the life of me, I can’t come up with any explanation for that other than people just not wanting Dick and Jason to have the kind of rapport that could organically develop from Jason having that single relevant piece of evidence that proves his older brother does in fact love him very much, and always did.
Gaaaaaah. And the thing is, its not even that I begrudge people liking Jason and Tim’s dynamic and wanting them to be close. But when so freaking many of the ‘bring Jay back to the family’ fics focus on the kid Jason resented so much for replacing him he beat him half to death, being the one who most easily and naturally forms the strongest connection to Jason...while ignoring any and all instances of canon that acknowledge the actual canon history of Dick and Jason that would bring up the question of why Dick doesn’t seem to care now....it just feels weird. And I’ve looked at the narrative situation enough times that I feel pretty confident its not solely my character bias making me think that, y’know?
Its like......idk, maybe its the fact that Tim has plenty of reasonable justifications for being the one whose initially wary of Jason’s return and takes a little while to warm up to him post UTRH and feel confident Jason no longer wants to hurt him....so it in no way reflects badly on Tim at all, for him not to be the one taking point on trying to bring Jason back to the family.
Similarly, having Dick be the one to take point in no way minimizes the potential for Jason and Tim to then go on to form a strong bond of their own as well. Nor would any such bond between them be lessened by an equally strong one existing between Jason and Dick....anymore than they’d be incapable of forming strong bonds if Jason had never died and Jason and Dick’s bond just pre-existed on the basis of knowing each other longer than Tim.
By contrast, pointedly keeping Dick ‘out of the way’ of Jason and Tim being the ones to develop a strong initial bond due to Tim taking point on bringing him back to the family fics....DOES minimize the potential for Dick and Jason to ever go on to have equally strong ties after that point, because based on that specific narration, there will always then be the question of why didn’t Dick take point in that, or the fact that Dick does have less justifications than Tim to be wary of Jason and more reasons than Tim to try and bring Jason back into the fold.
So inevitably, sidelining Dick to any extent during that kind of storyline does bring into question the legitimacy or strength of any bond Jason and Dick form after Jason’s return to the family, and casts doubt on the validity and strength of any ties they felt before Jason’s death as well.
And the thing is, it would be one thing if the canon was just an equally clean slate where all characters were concerned.
IF Dick really was as aloof and/or a jerk to Jason in canon pre-ADITF as fanon makes him out to be. IF there were extended storylines about Tim being the sole one with hopes of Jason returning to the family, rather than just the one storyline about helping him escape Blackgate, which Jason immediately turned around and killed more people, the one thing Tim had asked he not do, in exchange.
IF there weren’t stories with Dick begging Jason to let him help. IF the Arkham thing really DID follow the fanon narrative where Dick callously tossed Jason into a cell next to the Joker, instead of the canon context where Dick specifically said he put Jason in Arkham to keep him out of general population for his SAFETY, Joker was nowhere near Arkham at the time, and Jason specifically stated his biggest complaint with his time in Arkham was he was bored.
IF Brothers in Blood didn’t end with Jason acknowledging that he had always considered Dick family. IF Last Laugh didn’t exist as pointed proof that the one and only time Dick has broken the Batfam’s cardinal rule himself, it was Jason’s murderer, after bringing up Jason’s death to him.
But when any and all of those things have to be completely disregarded in order to craft a narrative that posits Tim being the only one willing to reach out to Jason, and posits that Dick doesn’t have any strong feelings about Jason other than guilt for not being a good enough brother or whatever....
Like, I really don’t think its just character bias that makes me say the dynamics that result from that are always going to feel a bit stilted and awkward....because not only do they disregard pivotal canon events....they disregard the actual characterizations that led to those characters acting the way they did in those canon events.
*Shrugs* It just makes those stories feel disjointed and yeah, a little petty, because its like trying to force specific dynamics through a mold that’s based on the actual shape of the characters....and thus with stuff inevitably getting trimmed off around the edges and left behind. Because those specific dynamics/characterizations don’t actually FIT the narrative they’re trying to be pushed through.
Again, like I said, it’d be one thing if canon events like Dick killing the Joker just never ever happened and it was a fairly even playing field in terms of what characters make the most sense to play certain roles in certain specific narratives.
But when your narrative revolves around Jason initially still being estranged from his family because he remains convinced nobody cared enough to avenge him....but said narrative makes zero mention whatsoever about the very much did happen story where Dick....cared enough to avenge him....
And this pattern persists in dozens of stories about this particular premise, with practically no exception I can think of....
Like, there’s something off there, lmao, and I really don’t think its just my own character biases making me feel that way.

Hey scandal, I'm writing a story and I'm using the ages from pre crisis batman comics. Can you help me with this? I know dick and jay are about 6 or 7 years apart but what about Tim and Barbara and Cass. And bruce.
Hey babe!  That’s great!
I’m going to assume you mean pre-Flashpoint/post-Crisis because Tim and Cass never existed pre-Crisis.
For anyone who has maybe heard/seen those terms and may not be 100% sure what they mean (DC has seven hundred Crises, scandal, WHICH CRISIS?!):
The one referred to by ‘post-Crisis’ is the Crisis on Infinite Earths event from the mid-80′s. It was basically DC making a real attempt having a shared universe with a coherent continuity. Everything before that is mostly non-canon. Things like blonde-Jason with the essentially the same backstory as Dick are gone but every once and a while a writer will reference something from before the cut off and pull it into continuity. Notably, Tom King recently cited the original first appearance of Catwoman from pre-Crisis AND the Year One origin from the late 80′s (which was always in a weird semi-canon status) further muddying the continuity waters.
So post-Crisis describes the period after that from like 1986 all the way up to Flashpoint in 2011.The terms ‘post-Crisis’ and ‘pre-Flashpoint’ are interchangeable. They both refer to the same 25 year period.
Flashpoint is probably more familiar to everyone because it’s more recent and it’s easier to work one’s way back to there (way few intermediary Crises to worry about). Barry Allen goes back in time to save his mom and fucks everything up. Bruce died, Thomas Wayne became sexy, old man Batman not worried about killing people, Martha becomes the Joker. It’s good times. I love Flashpoint. Don’t care one bit about the main story but the timeline is so much fun. Anyway, when Barry returns to the present that’s the start of New 52.
Where I frankly think things are mostly ok. Until you get to the Batfamily timeline/ages. Everyone deaged. Four robins in five years but still carrying the emotional baggage of everything that happened before. Because post-Crisis still mostly happened for the Batfam but not really because no Steph, no Cass. Everyone’s deaged but sometimes Jason is old enough to drink and sometimes he isn’t. Babs, who is supposed to be older than Dick, starts college.
It’s a mess.
Which is why I ALWAYS ignore post-Flashpoint Batfam age/timeline. And it seems like DC has kind of unofficially given in to that but we’ll see.
Anywho. Back to your actual question. Here’s a post that is close enough to how I’ve worked it out that any differences are small and negligible by @batmanisagatewaydrug.  For example, OP has Jason dying at 15 which seems to be fandom consensus. But I am like 95% certain I read a line in a comic back in the day that said 16 so that’s what I usually go with unless it suits me better to drop it down. Generally, I like giving him that time extra time to bond with Bruce because the stronger that bond is when he dies the more heartbreaking it is. And I usually have Tim becoming Robin a few months after turning 14. Regardless, our end results are pretty much the same.
Current ages based on post-Crisis/pre-Flashpoint:
Damian: 13
Duke: 16
Cass & Harper: 19
Tim & Steph: 20
Jason: 23
Dick: 29
Babs: 32
Bruce: 42
OP has Bruce starting Batmaning at 23 and taking in 11 year old Dick at 24. This is pretty standard for my fics. But I also don’t have a problem saying child prodigy Bruce Wayne got his GED at 15/16 and took off, returning as Batman at like 20, taking in 8 year old Dick at 21. Present ages stay the same but I can never remember how old Dick was originally (and Young Justice says 9 so by the time he gets trained up a bit that works out).
Ultimately, babe, there’s a lot of flexibility because comics rarely give exact ages. It’s explicitly stated that Dick leaves Bruce at 17 (because Bruce hilariously makes a big deal about having a ‘child’ partner when Dick gets shot, and fires him only to almost immediately pick up an actual child with zero training). And it’s explicitly stated somewhere that Damian was 10 when he showed up and Teen Titans Rebirth starts with his 13th birthday. But other than that, there’s a lot of wiggle room.
Sorry, you asked a simple question (for which I had a link to the answer) and I went overboard. I never write something brief and concise when I can be needlessly in-depth and wordy ;)
Good luck on your fic hon!

Master List Update
I...didn’t even realize how much crap I’ve written since the last one >.< Also didn’t realize what a pain in the ass it was to click on when you’re on mobile. Here’s one that’s a little easier, I hope.
AO3: Fracture (fanart!); Distractions, Forward Momentum (Avengers)
Tumblr
Poison-Basil’s Art:
*iPhoenixrising (my wonderfully talented artist/writer babe literally made my spirit animal)
*Fracture Chapter 1: It’s Tim asleep on the bathroom floor where Dick and Jay find him (God, it’s amazing >.<)
Fracture Chapter 29: The intense almost between Dick and Red
BABE MADE ME A WHIRLYBIRD
*No Home for Dead Birds: (Eventual Conner/Bart/Tim maybe)
This is the amalgamation of comments from Fracture. A whole what if Tim didn’t forgive them and go back? Au. It’s right after the epic planning of Red Robin to keep Ra’s al Ghul from killing everyone Batman loves from the Red Robin series. Just a little bit of a twist on how the story would go if Tim didn’t stay.
Chapter I
Chapter II
 Drabble
 Chapter III
Chapter IV
Chapter V
Chapter VI
Chapter VII
Chapter VIII
Chapter IX
Chapter X p1
Chapter X p2
Kon’s Drabble
Warning for mentions of suicide
NHDB What-If
The Red Hood

Tumblr Ask: Tim/Kon/Bart; warning for abuse of TTK, super-powers, and literally making Tim scream. All kinds of NSFW.
Chapter XI
What’s In a Name?
*Night Call (Tim/Jay Stripper Verse AU):
Based on an Ask. Just your standard Bouncer!Jay working at a strip club where Super CEO Tim Drake secretly moonlights when the stress of his life gets a little hard to handle and stripping gives him freedom. Of course, there’s probably identity porn and a little bit of smut.
Part 1
Part 2 (NSFW)
Final Part: 3
*DC AOB Attempt (Omega Tim/ Alpha Dick/ Alpha Jay by request):
This was seriously a try at the whole Omegaverse thing. I write it on it occasionally when I get asks and whatnot. Premise: Tim is making his way back to the Bats after a little hiatus after he lost the Robin mantle and brought back B from time.  He’s in Gotham being part of the crew when his suppressants might have…worn off and the scent of a male Omega in heat makes the Bats a little more than concerned. To make matters worse, he gets a little more than he bargained for when Dick follows him back to Titan’s Tower to take care of his pack’s Omega.
Smut ensues.
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4

On the topic of coming home and not finding the home where or how you left it and Jason.
I know a lot of people are "Jason worked so great as a villain, wish DC would come back to that" but the thing is, it worked... With mixed results after UtRH and Lost Days. No, scratch that. It sucked. He wasn't interesting in Titans Tower, BftC, or Brothers in Blood, or Batman and Robin (except the prison; the prison was nice but it also wasn't about either Batman or Robin which might be why it worked for me). It's kinda why Joker overall doesn't work for me, why I hate Tommy Elliott, can't stand Ra's "being obsessed" with Tim or Bruce in some storylines, why City of Bane is stupid, why the movie worked better re: Joker if we're talking about Under the Red Hood, etc etc. If your hero is the only reason why the villain exist or does something, it's kinda... Not an intersecting villain for me.
Like, it's the point of hero to stop villains/save people from villains, not the point of villains to be there to cause troubles for heroes so we had some heroic action to read about.
So no, for Jason, leaving him as a villain in canon did not do him any favors, in my point of view. Different things float different boats and all that.
Not to say it's necessary or even at all possible for Jason to dig himself out of the rubble and do one-eighty. Best case scenario is him continuing the drug lord business and taking control over Gotham, or at the very least, a sizable portion of it (to leave space for other villains). He could have taken Park Row, Narrows, Hills (the last one probably not without help of Onyx - which, it was already her last appearance. Correct me if I'm wrong but she wasn't in the comics later, was she). Though it's not necessary she helps him - maybe the opposite, she fights against him. And you could add, yeah, the ones some fans say there's so many similarities between canon version of these characters and fandom perception of Jason Todd. So, possible anti Red Hood team up would include: Onyx, Huntress, and Catwoman.
Onyx: her partner, Orpheus, who basically did the same thing Red Hood is doing (only without heads in the duffle bag, which is a biiiiig distinction), died in the city-wide gang war. His territory - the people he tried to protect with his life, metaphorically and then literally - are in danger now, and more so with Red Hood's grabby hands. Plus, Jason did torture her, even if it was for a short time (the knife thing).
Helena: yeah, she kills people, but Jason is literally a criminal here, not vigilante. Whereas Jason may look at her and see sameness, Helena would look and see a target. Would make a great conflict imo.
Selina: so she offered protection for sex workers, right? And Jason was shown protecting a sex worker in his Robin days, since the reccuring theme in Jason-centric fics that this is what he would be doing. But we don't actually see, as far as I remember, Red Hood doing it. So let's assume he's focused on running drugs as safely for consumers and general public as possible and that's it. And his base of operations is Crime Alley which is also is the area Catwoman protects. Boom, conflict.
And as all three women have a conflict with the Red Hood - they might team-up. And plan to take him down.
Except before the plan comes to fruition, Red Hood assists each of them: Onyx with protecting the Hills, Huntress to get an abuser or a child trafficking gang, and Catwoman with an investigation in a crime committed in the Crime Alley for which a sex worker she protects/was friends with was a material witness or a suspect, or something like that. Maybe it's even all ties into one case. With a giant "but": but while the trio works together against RH, they work with him not really voluntarily, just by circumstance, and keep it a secret from each other.
It should culminate in a messy "revelation of betrayal" scene. Where they do manage to bring him down but also find out that the others betrayed the group and worked with RH. Maybe Jason even implies that each of them was working with him all along and just double crossed him at the last minute for some selfish reason or a plan of her own, or he implies that about one of them - and doesn't say who. So to better drive a wedge between them, and use this to escape their capture somehow. I dunno. Maybe it should go some other way. But it should be big.
And it may go different ways, including them successfully throwing Jason behind bars. But I would like to think about semi permanent team up between those four, working together. I just think this team would work splendidly. (I think so about all Jason team ups (there's literally no team Jason wouldn't fit right in: change my mind) so if you're sceptical, you're entitled to it)
So, we have Jason having a place, having some co-workers, but they wouldn't be his friends or family, exactly.
For friends, it's obviously wouldn't have been possible back at the time, because most of these characters weren't created back then. But: Dana, Chris, Max, Gabbie, Numbers, Rena, and Eddie (I'm writing them down in order how he met them, probably, but it really doesn't matter to the order he re-meets them now).
You can easily tie Dana to the Hills story arc. Chris could try to join Red Hood gang (because he seems like a guy past teaches nothing). Max is a lawyer, or lawyer in training, considering the timeline. Or pre-law? Idk. But Jason may go to him for legal help. Reconnecting him with Gabbie is easy as pie (ha!). I have a feeling it would not be hard for Gabbie and Dana to know each other (the diner is probably not the same diner but it could be, for the story purposes). Numbers - Jason could help him get out of business with Black Mask. Rena is a bit tricky. If he regains his civil identity and goes to a school reunion for some vigilante-related reason, maybe? And Eddie appears during his quest to find ways to keep his soul. He might ask how Jason forgave Bruce. And Jason can give him the best advice he could give. And then Eddie is saved, but dies on Titans mission. And Jason goes to pick a fight with Blue Devil.
And that's how you can tie Jason to the magical side of DC. On his way to killing Blue Devil Jason might find more magical allies and adversaries and side quests. One of which is helping an Amazon from Bana-Mighdal find her relique but finding and freeing a Superman clone instead.
At some point before that, remember that stupid storyline where Lian dies? I consider several approaches, including nixing it entirely. But if it absolutely should exist, here's what happens afterwards. Roy Harper begins to struggle with addiction again, right? He even tracks down a drug deal to break it up... And take the stuff. If I remember correctly. So. You know who's the drug lord here? You guessed it. Jason Todd.
I don't know much about Dick and Kory's crash and burn except that Dick slept with Barbara before inviting her to the wedding, and that the wedding didn't happen thanks to Raven going evil, and also, at some point, Kory had to leave Earth to get marriage of convenience to some dude for her planet's well being. I admit that I don't remember the order with which those things happened. I am pretty sure they happened before Cry for Justice. So I assume Kory broke up with Dick. If not, let's assume it's at some point after both things (break up and Lian's death) happened.
Anyway. Kory wants to help Roy. She saves him from Red Hood whom Roy attacked (Roy is not in any danger but not in any freedom to move). Jason is outmatched, outnumbered, but most of all, bewildered, what the fuck is going on with Roy. That's a good time as any to take down his Hood and ask what happened. I mean, he heard about Lian but...
And let's say, Titans didn't know Jason's back. Dick, Tim, Eddie - everyone who knew never told for various reasons. So. Roy is shocked, but most importantly - interested. How did he come back? Can it be used to bring Lian back?
And Jason, a lying liar who lies, says sure it can. But let's get you clean first so you could actually do it, bring your daughter back, and be there for her afterwards.
Kory threatens Jason with painful death when Roy's not there, and she's not joking. Because it would do so much damage to Roy, if Jason couldn't deliver on his promise. Giving hope and breaking it.
Jason delivers. Yeah, yeah, it's my same old cope out with time travel and clones. Only, you know, there's maybe no easy access to the All Acres because All Caste isn't dead yet. And no easy access to however many clones you need, because I don't have a slightest idea of how Jason met Shae Veritas (the scientist who had cloned herself a gazillion times).
So let's say, Jason makes Roy follow him on "find and beat the shit out of Blue Devil because I both grieve my friend's death and project heavily my own unresolved issues on him and his mentor" tour. Kory follows to protect Roy and kill Jason should his plan turn out to be bogus. Where they find Artemis, which makes them find Biz and thus the cloning technology.
With this out of the way, the only thing they need is a time traveling ship. Which they steal from Booster Gold. They also need a Speedster, and here I suggest not the logical choice (Wally). But basically any unpopular or overlooked speedster. Maybe Thad Twayne, Inertia? Would vibe with the Outlaws.
(I guess you might get away with using Biz but honestly, I think Superman is fast but not Flash-fast, you know; and for this kind of delicate time travel work, a Speedster should work better).
So, they execute the plan, and it works splendidly. Lian is saved, Roy's on his way to recovery. The Bow of Ra's is found by Artemis. Biz is living his best life. Thad rethinks his life choices and things he was brainwashed to think (like hatred of Allens; Twayne was a dick, wasn't he? Better to hate him). Blue Devil's ass is thoroughly kicked. They also might go into the Underworld at some point and win Eddie's soul from Neron and bring him back with them.
And that's where Talia, who runs the Luthorcorp, finds them and gives them a bill, for the destroyed lab, kidnapping (Biz), and stolen proprietary technology.
Inertia just might immediately speed away, so to speak. Everyone else... Nobody has that kind of money, even Jason. Especially Jason. He uses most of the money to keep the operations running and for charity/community building things. And he actively works on diminishing his customer base (because why would he do anything else, with the example of his mom). So no, he doesn't have money.
He's also appalled Talia demands repayment but after she explicitly told him not to go after Batman and he went after Batman... Yeah, that tracks.
Talia offers them to work this debt off by... Teaching a bunch of newbie villains. And Jason and Roy's like: what, no, no way. But Kory is like, yeah, we can do that. I have experience. Roy, too. Her logic being: if Luthorcorp can't recruit them, doesn't mean they're going to stop this project. So the only way to ensure kids are alright is to take over.
Jason has a place that can be useful: Gotham's Home for Wayward Kids. Formerly an institution where he spent some time getting shot at and such.
With this setup, Inertia comes back. Which is good, he needs some friends his age.
Teachers and staff include: Roy and Kory, obviously; reluctantly, Artemis; Eddie (to the dismay of Inertia, because why is he student if Red Devil is a teacher?); but also Numbers. Bizarro is also present but mostly, he is just kids favorite, they don't hate him like they hate Jason, and not defensive as against real teachers (Kory, Roy, and Artemis) or dismissive against the lamer ones (Eddie and Numbers, who are dorks).
I dunno how, but Jason has to set it all up in a way that makes the kids to leave the idea of supervillainry behind. I bet each of Gen O kids had something else they wanted more than to take over the world. Jason, helping them rediscover it, and achieve it, or at least to end up on the right path to achieving it... Yeah, I think he would want that.
And in the process kids change their minds on him and the other guys as well. Jason does start to think about them as his kids.
And what do you know, it was Talia's plan all along.
Besides that, Cheshire comes along to reunite with her daughter because of course Roy would have told her immediately after Lian's back. He might have not told her before that because what if it didn't work etc. Though you also could make Jade find out herself because she was keeping tabs on Roy. And she absolutely can join earlier and participate in the quests and heists. And then also stay to teach and be close to Lian and Roy.
If we're talking about relationships, I also think about Kory and Artemis, and Jason and Eddie. Jason literally going Underground to get Eddie back!!! I would say it's boyfriend material. Or not. Jason is also a lame nerd.
I also think that Onyx, Huntress, and Catwoman can give guest lectures in Gen O's Home for Wayward Kids. It might be renamed to Gen O School for Gifted Youths, by the way, or something equally inspiring.
You can also add Abuse/Colin here, and maybe Mara? Athanasia? Heretic? Someone from Al Ghul side, anyway, escaping Ra's and the LoA.
With Eddie being back, there's a huge chance of Rose showing up. And Deathstroke! Seeing how Arsenal brought back his daughter, why can't Deathstroke bring back two sons?
With the need to keep timeline as we know it, Jason's way can only be used to save Grant, and Jason is willing to do it but... Grant would need to stay with Gen O, not Deathstroke. Or no deal. Slade agrees. Then on the mission, he tries to double cross them, to keep Grant and save Joey, which would practically doom the whole timeline. More Shenanigans!
Even if timeline is saved, this would be more than enough to get them noticed by Time Masters. Another arc of adventures, and very timely too. Because kids keep asking Jason why doesn't he save everyone and how can he decide who to save. Answer: because then you get a whole bunch of time assassins trying to erase you from the timeline completely, and you can stop them only by wiping them out, which in turn means you would have to deal with huge timestream fallout... And he agreed to help Deathstroke because otherwise he would not leave them alone, constantly trying to kill them. Thad, Eddie, Rose confirm. This is exactly what Slade would do.
The only way I see the Time Masters arc getting resolved is by involving either Legends of Tomorrow, which might work with the connection between Inertia and Captain Cold and Heatwave. But there's also Booster Gold, right? They strike some agreement on them getting Blue Beetle back and Booster Gold not only deals with Time Masters, but also forgets them for hijacking his time ship.
After that... Outlaws is a pretty big thing, with both adult Outlaws, and new generation of them. Like Titans and Teen Titans. You can add to Outlaws any number of characters who already exist in the Universe. Kory's sister might come back. Kids from Titans East can show up. We are Robins, briefly - they were Outlawed in Gotham, at some point... Outlaws vs Court of Owls, not bad, imo, if you make the accent on the Gotham characters from the Outlaws.
So, yeah, keeping Jason strictly as a criminal would not be a bad idea. But, like, his unhingedness should have more point than edge, you know.
I'm kinda losing my mind because of the post about Jason "You can never go home" Todd because at first I was like, wdym, he's already home, nobody can take it from him
And today it hit me: yeah it's not, and he isn't, and they already did.

1.    Hi, A! Can you make a Conner x Abused!witch reader please? Where reader is abused by her whole family, because while she is a good person her family aren't? Can you also make the reader fall in love with Conner and the feeling is mutual? By the way, love your imagines.
2.    Can you write something where batsis has a stalker and it starts off cute but gets more dangerous?
3.    Can you write something where Tim gets really hurt while patrolling with Jason and he has to save him. Can you write it with some angst please.
4.    could you please write about Atlantean Batmom, who's maybe Arthur’s sister, and meets Bruce through him? Batmom prefers to not interfere with the league or Atlantis and the kids don't know about her heritage out of fear for their safety until she uses her abilities to prevent a catastrophe or something like that.
5.    Could you do and imagine of Catwoman's accomplish/niece being best friends with Damian and Damian leaves with the teen titans making her sad and jealous. I really love your writing and this would make my week
6.    batsis possessed by the Enchantress
7.    would you do a batsis imagine where she assaulted by one of her close guy friends and couldn't stop it, so she starts withdrawing from her family and friends. she feels weak and doesn't want them to judge her until jason finally gets her to tell him what happened after she tries to kill herself?
8.       Red Hood get thrown through the window of your local Book store and list three good reads for you before he’s up on his feet again guns blazing.
9.   Love your oldest batsis character! Could you do maybe one where is a good singer/musician and she sings them lullaby’s when they are hurt and around the house and in the shower?
10.   May I request a oneshot please, where Jon and Dami befriend a shapeshifter/reader, who's either their age or a year younger, and none of the Justice League (including Bats and Super) know about them. So it's either the Justice League finding out about them or stupid pranks (like identical Damian’s) that they pull on the Justice League?
11.   Hello! I was wondering if you could maybe do a second post to the bat mom killing the joker fic? I would love to see Bruce's and the rest of the family's reaction to that. That would be awesome!
12.   Can I request where Batsis/reader has terrible insomnia, so she only gets probably an hour a sleep every day or something, and she is always up walking around the manor at odd hours of the night. She hides it from the Batfam with makeup and such. And it's basically the Batfam finding out about Batsis's terrible insomnia. Thank you!
13.   hello! i still hope your requests are still open as i wanted to send in something! could you do a Jason Todd imagine where he and the reader have a meet-cute in the library and he develops a huge crush? he talks about her constantly to Roy to the point he gets frustrated and drags him to her, only to find out it's his younger sister (or if you prefer close friend)
14.   Could you do a little sister au where bat!sis wants to join her brothers and father on patrol and follows them around all day in attempt to get them to agree to let her go and eventually Bruce agrees to take her for a few minutes in her own adorable little suit and it's just super fluffy? Sorry this is long and if that's confusing. I love you're writing and thank you so much

17.   I wish you would write a fic where sick jay is cared for by his loving fam and reader
18.   Hello! Could you possibly do a Batmom! Reader who's like really short. Like shorter than Damian and she has trouble having some of the batboys take her seriously?
19.   So I had a shitty day, maybe a thing where batsis had an anxiety attack, then her biological dad (who is an asshole to her) make her depressed and the batfamily helps her through it
20.   Could you write a wing au with the wings mimicking emotions with Tim Drake please?
21.   For the fantasy au thing with winged people, could I please request Older Damian's SO's feathers falling out from stress and him trying to help her?
22.   I'm sorry if this is a bad request, you can change the aspects of it if you want to: I am a dragon AU (with any fandom or even not fandom related) but reader is a dragon and a knight has to slay the dragon but the knight can't do it... Thus the knight sneaks out every night because become really good friends in the end of it. Anyway before I end this request I would like to say your writing is amazing and I can't wait to read more from you!! Thanks for reading and keep up the fantastic writing!!
23.   Could you please do something with Bruce helping a batdaughter deal with a bad hit of fear toxin? It could be as sweet or angsty as you like, whatever you feel like doing!
24.   Hi!! Can I request an imagine Dick and batsis (reader) are in the same school event/gym class and it's a sparring section and they laugh it all off, and have to deal with elementary level self defense class, maybe fording themselves to lose to dummies and then when they can finally spar each other they go all out? And the class goes crazy loving it? Also:: can you tag @batty4dc
25.   Hiiii I would like to request a fiction with jason, something like the reader can control the four elements and those are represented by the bat-boys (dick-water/ jason-fire / Tim-air / Damian- earth). The reader is obviously more interested in the fire element so jason. I really like something with some fluff but also passionate (like light smut if you do that). U don't know if the request is clear but thank you.
26.   Older Batsis coming home from a rough night on patrol to find one of her brothers sitting on her couch? Whichever brother you prefer!
27.   Can I request Terry McGinnis w/ a telepathic/telekinetic s/o and they flirt a lot during patrol so Bruce always scolds them
28.   Is there any way you can do a part 2 to the Damian Wayne x reader My Mate?
29.   Can request jason flirting with a telepathic/telekinetic reader
30.   Hi! I was wondering if you could do this request for me? I want a Damian x Reader, Please! I was thinking that the plot could be that Damian used the bully the reader because maybe she was deaf or something like that. The bullying gets so bad that the reader switches school, and Damian feels so guilty. Years later, Damian sees the reader once more, and he tries to make amends. Angst at first then maybe something sweet? Thank you! Love your writing!
31.   Batboy of your choice dating a single mom
32.   Can you write an hc were Batmom has a daughter that's in her teens that clings to Batmom and the boys think she's an attention hog they wind up in a fit and she starts crying and Batmom comes in and stops them and they find out she has awake terrors and that's why she's clingy to mom because she's scares so they start helping with her and now she's clingy with all of them. Thank you for your time, bye.

35.   Ok, how about this. Damian with a neko reader. He would definitely go crazy and want to pet her ears. Please and thank you
36.   How would the JL and Batfam react if they found out that Batmom outsmarted the Joker on her own. Like he kidnaps her because hey Bruce, you're rich af, and instead of crying and praying for rescue she scolds Joker and he's like, wow ok, I see your point. He doesn't immediately become a grade A citizen or something but, you get the gist. Thx love!

41.   So I was going through your work and found this thing about batsis, and how villains loved her. And now all I can think is batsis having some recital or fucking graduation or something, and half the fucking crowd is there for her. There's villains, anti-hero's, super-heroes. Their all there for her omg.
42.   Oh oh oh can you write Jason being in love with reader who's close friends with all the batboys and she's especially close to dick and Jason gets jealous and upset and super insecure because he thinks she likes dick when in reality she's in love with Jason (you can do the ending anyway you want)
43.  For face the music, how about some cute Connor x reader moments. Like he hears her laugh for the first time(really hard at that) then she's about to walk out her her pajamas (I sleep with an over-sized shirt and my underwear cuz it's hella comfy) And then some bonding time with Conner, Reader, and Talia?
