Rewatching Captain America: The Winter Soldier just makes me think about how smart Steve is. I feel like he is often overshadowed by other Avengers, such as Bruce, Tony and Nat.
In WS, he has many moments that portray the way his brain thinks. My personal favorites are the elevator scene and when him and Nat arrive at the old army camp. He knows those agents are coming after him due to slight body language, such as a hand on a gun or a couple of beads of sweat while in the elevator. At the old army base, he is able to find the room with Zola with little information. He uses his knowledge on army regulations to find the old SHIELD office. From there, he is just able to notice little things that are off, such as the shelves that reveal the computer.
Sorry for the lil rant, but I just think Steve deserves more intellectual credit than the fandom gives him.

Here's a heavily improved Imperial Wardin map, with a focus on climate and geography (uses the Koppen Climate Classification). This is an attempt to infuse pre-existing lore too established to retcon with a degree of realism, but there's only so much I can do.
The majority of the climate falls under the hot mediterranean and semi-arid classification, with small pockets of warm mediterranean and arid climes. The entire region experiences a rainshadow effect from the eastern Blackmane Mountain range, which blocks northeasterly winds from the eastern ocean and starkly divides the Sub-Viper landmass between its humid east and dry west.
Most of the interior is grassland, savannah, and scrub. Savannah heavily coincides with a history of human occupation and controlled burns, and is mostly based around oak. Grassland, scrub, and semi-desert dominates the semi-arid regions. Small pockets of high desert and salt flats occur in the arid zones.
A forest originally spanned much of the north, consisting of predominantly oak. This was gradually eliminated due to multiple factors- a warming climate, low intensity human intervention (hunter-gatherers and pastoralists clearing land with controlled burns), and high intensity exploitation (deforestation for timber). Additional woodlands found along the major riverways have been wholly eliminated by logging within the past several centuries.
The largest remaining span of woodland occurs within and north of the Highlands, and in the sparsely populated northeast, where a major and mostly intact oak forest stretches to the Blackmane mountains. A smaller pocket of woodland occurs in the volcanic highlands of Lobera. Other pockets remain, but are isolated and insignificant on the map.
Most of the geography is flat, divided by a range of hills that are the heavily eroded remains of an ancient mountain range. The highest peaks of this range comprise the contemporary Highlands, which have the highest elevations and coldest climate in the region. This is the only territory that regularly receives snowfall, and is the source of several major rivers. The rest of the range is too low to drastically affect the climate, save for the Red Hills east of the Cholemdi basin, whose rain shadow effect (heavily compounded by the basin's low elevation) renders this valley the hottest and driest part of the region. This range once formed a land bridge across the Viper into Finnerich (though this was prior to anatomically modern humans Existing) with its only remnants being smatterings of islands.
The province Lobera holds a small range of volcanic highlands, composed of a network of mostly dead volcanic craters. The volcano Odatoche is the only active site in the region, though has been dormant for centuries and has not had a major eruption in millenia. The other major geological feature is the Sons of Creation, which is the fabled site of God’s self-sacrifice from which the world was made. This is the eroded range of a very large impact crater, consisting of two impact rings (visible as a circular formation of hills) a ring lake, and an elevated center.
The most fertile land is found in Ephennos, owing to the presence of the Black River and its highly fertile delta (which contains the only major semi-permanent marshes outside of Highland river valleys). This is the second largest river in the region, being a confluence of two major river systems out of the Highlands (the Urbin/Erubin and Troibad/Nedachemi rivers). Erubinnos has the largest river, the Kannethod, which originates in the Blackmane mountains.
Agriculture around some of the other river systems is mostly or entirely dependent on their post-rainy season flooding. The most prominent is the Yellowtail river (flows south past Erub). In the very distant past, this was the longest river in the region, and carved out the Cholemdi basin and reached the sea. In the contemporary, it dries out long before even approaching the sea (though occasionally still floods the basin in abnormally rainy years). The Brilla river system out of the Red Hills (flows to Wardin) reaches the sea year-round, but has been known to run dry in exceptionally severe drought, and irrigation along its length depends on its flooding.
There are very few significant lakes in the region (small lakes are unmarked). The biggest is the volcanic crater lake Aganagarre in Lobera, the Yellowtail lake north of Erub, and the ring lake within the Sons of Creation.
#The last map of the region I posted is now obsolete. Ignore it#Idk if I've given the impression that it's partly like. High desert but it's not. I based a good chunk of its climate off the north america#southwest (though much bigger chunks fall into the mediterranean climes than the SW does)#I wrote in the Highlands after climbing Wild Rose Peak in Death Valley. Just kind of inspired by the experience of being#there in February and the temps being 80-90 degrees but then climbing a few thousand feet and suddenly its way cooler and there's#cacti covered in snow.#(I live in a region that is mostly flat and at low elevations so encountering Basic Mountain Effects was mind blowing)#When I say 'based on' it's not directly based. I kind of just get a sense of each region's climate and then find as many irl analogues#as possible to get an idea of how it would work. That is the only subtropical/semi-arid mountainous region I've ever Been to though#Otherwise I've seen the Scottish and Icelandic highlands which are not even slightly analogous.#Oh and the north shore highlands which I kind of forget are a Thing and it's not just lake effect. Not even slightly analogous either.#imperial wardin

i dunno if anyones mentioned this but even the name sort of makes sense for the idea of a toxic friendgroup when it comes to rot in paradise?
its paradise, youre with your friends, youre hanging out, life is ‘good’, but youre ruining your self esteem and mental health by being around them, aka rotting.
i hate how this is seen as the weakest game because it hit the hardest for me personally, the writing really makes those uncomfortable moments genuinely uncomfortable and junes perspective and dialogue about how her friends are treating her feels so raw and realistic, especially when shes talking about it to ryan 🙁
#rot in paradise#studio investigrave#by the way i do understand why someone could see this game as the weakest#i just personally believe its one of the stronger ones to me#i really didnt care for dead plate#nor elevator hitch#so im really happy to see another game from them that i enjoyed deeply#the studio is super talented and i still really do love their work even if i really only like this game and cold front#but i think its because theyre more similar in nature based on how they discuss relationships#at least to me!!! this is all an opinion thing#totally subjective

Six Sentence Sunday
Thank you to @onthewaytosomewhere, @kiwiana-writes, @orchidscript, @suseagull04 and @sophie1973 for the tags today! When I realized I had nothing to share, it actually helped me get started on my next WIP idea! So smooches to all of you for that!😘
This is based on a song from one of my favourite bands called elevator love letter:
Henry’s office is on the twelfth floor of a skyscraper in Canary Wharf. There’s plenty of other offices, plenty of other people, plenty of other lost souls just like him who all make their way here every single day. Day in, day out; commute to and from the building, ride up and down the elevators. Every single bloody day. The routine is, to be frank, exhausting. And that doesn’t even include the actual work of it all.
Tag list under the cut for any friends who would care to share on this November day!

Being constantly surrounded by the presence of a loving God sounds great until you realize you never know when his freaky fuckin eyes are gonna show up to check on you.
And man. They do it a LOT.
#primus please let the mech breathe#what i want to emphasize most with this iteration of optimus is the inherent fucking terror of being made a prime#really pick at those little threads of how fucked the matrix as a concept is. same with the staple tropes of op himself#the idea in tfp that it can entirely change your personality. and that if you lose it you cannot remember your time with it#those implications send me spiraling. to what degree is optimus the same being as orion pax? do you forfeit your soul to be a demigod?#do you fucking die to become a conduit for the higher being that made you? letting it puppet your mind and body like a parasitoid?#if death in transformers is simply rejoining the allspark; if the soul is something splintered off from the whole;#and if to die as a cybertronian is for that fragment to merge with the whole once again. is a prime not fundamentally a dead mech walking?#a prime stands with one pede in the afterlife and one in the land of the living and has to keep up with both at once#constantly seeing visions from a plane his processor was never meant to comprehend with optics that were never built to see it#forced to adapt into an elevated being as much as a frame that still has silly things like wants and needs and emotions and base coding can#how does a mortal live when his body is no longer just his body; but a vessel fir something holy and a tool fashioned to heal the world?#when he can never truly be alone again and he has to simply live with the ever present knowledge that he is being watched#both by his god and by the world#how does one live knowing not even their thoughts are private? when your god may be living but man he does not get the idea of boundaries#guess it must be hard to grasp personal space and all that when youre an ocean of souls that left it behind#maccadam#transformers#wayward sparks#optimus prime#art tag#sometimes i feel kinda bad for putting this bastard through The Horrors. if ws gets made all the way he will be thrown so many bones#only sometimes tho >:3

Not to ruin your night, but imagine how destroyed Mike is in the aftermath of it all. Losing Stan and Eddie was devastating for the rest of them, after just remembering each other again, but Mike had remembered them the whole time. For 27 years, when he wasn’t doing his research, Mike passed the time imagining the day this would all be over and he’d have his friends back. It was the only way he could bear the burden of being the watchman. He pictured the seven of them together on the other side of It, free from the cloud of Derry, and now two of his friends are dead. Mike never even got to meet Stan as an adult.
He knows what he looked like, though, the way he knew all of their faces, because he’d kept track of them. For 27 years. It was harder for some than others, but the evolution of social media made it basically a hobby instead of a job. He knew when Stan and Eddie graduated college, when they got married, when their parents died, when they got new jobs, and with every piece of their lives he could uncover on the internet or in the newspaper, he imagined getting to see them again, talk to them again, share their lives again.
And then they died, and Mike is left trying to figure out what the hell the point of it all was. He sacrificed his life for his friends only to lose them anyway, and how is he supposed to cope with that?
#justice for Mike hanlon#took some time of the It fandom to dabble in some others but I’m back babeyyyy#anyway Mike and Ben are objectively the best losers#the two men ‘name two men you would feel safe alone in an elevator with’ is based on#I’m making that its own post after this fuck it#it steven king#losers club#Mike hanlon#eddie kasprak#stanley uris

is ROP lacking in the female character department or have i just been way too spoiled by the plethora of them in WOT? lmao
like, galadriel's excellent, 10/10 no notes. but it feels like the others are always playing second fiddle in a storyline the source material designed to be about men (disa, miriel), or are bopping around on a charming sidequest that, while important as a breath of lightness amidst the heavy stuff, is nowhere near as compelling as the ring-related storylines (nori, poppy). (or had to get written out due to the actress leaving; such a shame because i imagine bronwyn would've been a big player in the southlands storyline this season.)
and i think it mostly comes down to source material. i have a vivid childhood memory of reading the hobbit and then the fellowship of the ring and then quitting because i got bored and cranky about there not being any girls except for arwen in like 2 chapters, so i would not be surprised if much of ROP's source material is similar, where the vast majority of the important players are men. and the show is doing what it can to add in more ladies, but it's just tough to make them feel like they're on an equal level of narrative importance as the men for whom the story was originally designed.
and that makes me so incredibly thankful for WOT and the huge amount of story-driving women RJ baked into the story. i give him flak for some things, but in this regard he was truly ahead of his time! and ahead of OUR time, even today it's rare to see a (mainstream) story with such a wide array of female characters. and that's made the show's job easy; it doesn't have to fight the source material to make women important in the narrative, because they already are. i saw a text post the other day about "tasting the good bologna" and how you can never be satisfied with a mid-quality thing again after you've had the most luxurious version, and boy have i tasted the good bologna with WOT and female characters.
#unrebloggable because i don't want tolkien experts to yell at me djkfjg i'm just sharing my personal feelings as of today#but i freely admit to knowing nothing about the 2nd Age source material beyond what i've seen people talk about in my recent browsing#so i could be way off base here!#and it probably IS the show's fault too to an extent they probably could do SOMETHING to elevate the non-galadriel ladies more#but also like maybe ROP is actually quite good with female characters and the problem is simply that i have tasted the good bologna#though there are also genuinely not that many of them compared to men#out of roughly the 15 biggest characters this season only 5 are women#whereas WOT is 50/50

Can I take a wild swing at your Childhood friends AU?
I've had a few people reach out and ask if they can write stuff about that AU (or just straight up say they're going to take it without asking, haha..) so I'm gonna answer this one publicly as a blanket answer that's basically "yes"!
I don't own the concept of a childhood friends AU and I'm sure I'm not the first person to think about Usopp & Sanji meeting when they were young, so already I don't feel right telling people they can't take inspo from my AU. And also, I'd love to read more people's takes and interpretations on this AU and sanuso in general!
Sometimes I can be precious about my concepts in case I'd like to work them into my own comics/stories but I think this one is fair game! If you take direct inspiration from my work in your fic then I would appreciate credit/a link back, but like I said, I can't really claim ownership over such a broad concept.
Let me know if you publish it though so I can read it!
#SanUso#in general I am usually happy for people to write fic based on/inspired by my work but I do appreciate being asked#I know I don't own these characters etc but it does frustrate me sometimes to see writers-#-treat other fan works as free real estate up for grabs instead of an already-existing narrative exploration in its own right#we all take inspiration from each other so the line can be hard to draw but sometimes I feel like I'm not even seen-#-as a human being or as a fellow creator but just as a random prompt generator for their personal use#and that people are doing me a favour by Elevating my simple pictures to the written word haha#but if you don't do that we're all good!
