The New Gabe Order Will Celebrate KQED Plus' (KQEH's) 60th Anniversary With A Spotlight Show Of The Science Fiction Night!

Salutations, anime fans. I am Gabriel Ramos, DJ and broadcaster of Toon Time Theater. October 19 will be a special day, because KQED Plus (KQEH) will turn 60 this year, and I wanted to showcase the programs of the Science Fiction Night that aired between 1996 and 2003. When I was born in Hayward, California, I had access to the network back when they were known as KTEH. However, I didn't know they aired science fiction anime on Sunday nights until I read about how Tenchi Universe aired on American TV networks for the first time. My brother got into Neon Genesis Evangelion because of KTEH, and since then, he watched the series from time to time.

On October 19 at 9 PM PDT, join me for a 7-series Spotlight Show showcasing select animated programs that aired on the KQED Plus Science Fiction Night back in the day. Plus, there will be a sneak peek of the New Gabe Order's special Toon Time Theater edition of Key the Metal Idol, which will reach the 30 year milestone this year.

The inclusion of Key the Metal Idol is dedicated to my late father, Oscar Ramos, who was into computers and got me (and my brother) into computer technology. 26 años, sangre pura, casi dueño de un bar porque es socio del dueño y bartender del mismo lugar, bisexual, novio de Daisy Hookum. Estuvo en Hufflepuff, en el equipo de Quidditch y milagrosamente se graduó.

Gideon puede ser la burla de alguien, okay no. Normalmente tiene muchos enemigues, pero igual si buscan un enemigo, Gideon tiene muchas razones para que lo sea. Igual amigues aunque es bien desconfiadote. Es una persona sumamente leal y confiable. También conoce muchísimo de defensa, así que puede enseñarle a quien desee. Está abierto a cualquier relación, técnicamente, excepto amigues con beneficies porque pues ya está casi casado.

AGATHA FIGG.

So here’s a project I’ve not advertised at all. No Requests: Live! From the Tavern is an Adult focused Edutainment series focused on discussing Art, Music, and Media. Each episode is broken up into segments that work together in a playlist including various other videos on Youtube. This means Music Videos, short films, and other video essays, curated together with extra commentary from the host of the show, Tavern Barz.

That’s a weird and unnecessarily complicated format, why are you doing this?

It’s really easy in this day and age to use Youtube videos as a replacement for other content. I mean, why watch a two hour movie when you can watch a 20 minute recap? 

This is a bad habit. Critique is important aspect to a good media diet, but a diet consisting solely of critique misses the point completely. In order to talk about media, we must also experience it. 

This format means we don’t directly compete with the art featured. Rather, Tavern Barz acts as a museum curator, and the other media in the playlists serve as the actual art itself. The original videos will get their view, and… as a nice little bonus, I get to avoid the copyright bots.

Why are you using a cartoon?

I mean, I’m an animator. I don’t know what else to tell you. Why does the Chocolate guy use chocolate when clay will last longer?

But also, I don’t really have any desire to host the show as myself. There’s a hundred and ten other Youtubers who will get on camera to talk about stuff, and like, I don’t have the room for that. 

Besides, Tavern is a character distinct from me. As a writer, I have full control over the narrative I want to tell, and placing myself in the center of that just feels weird. Tavern’s allowed to act and be weird and hypocritical. Tavern is allowed to grow as a character in ways you can’t really depict through the lens of literal documentary filmmaking. 

So that Cyclops character isn’t just your rantsona vtuber avatar?

I mean, in a very literal sense, Tavern is a Vtuber. They are a virtual character serving as the host for a real show on Youtube.

But Tavern’s also an OC with lore and a planned Story Arc. The pilot is admittedly pretty bare bones with all this, but I intent to incorporate more story elements as the series goes on.

Alright, so what’s the lore then?

Tavern Barz is the Cycloptic owner of the Tavern Barz Tavern, a fifth dimensional divebar thar exists all across Time and Space. After several eternities of service, Tavern thinks they know it all.

This is not true.

Is this project family friendly?

Not really. The main character is a bartender, so there's a lot of alcohol focus. Plus, a lot of the featured videos will also contain plenty of adult themes.

The pilot is pretty mild. There's some swearing, but nothing too serious. But the non original videos might have adult themes. I have some later episodes planned, including one focused on The Male Gaze, and in those cases, I can't in good conscience recommend these videos to minors.

All in all, I like to call the tone of the project comfortably adult. I'm not going out of my way to be edgy, but I'm also not censoring myself. If this were an actual TV series, it's probably be TV-14. Edgier than the Simpsons, not as edgy as Rick and Morty, so about the level of Futurama.

When will this project release?

April, 2024. As of the time of this writing, the first episode is basically finished except for the credits, but I also need sometime to compile my sources, write descriptions, and make some thumbnails, as well as advertise the project.

Not Quite "Toonami", But Toon Time Theater and More One Night Go In A New Direction

I have compared Toonami's 2025 lineups with the More One Night live-stream lineups I had planned for the same year. Only the E/I programming and two other programs aren't shared with Toonami's lineups. These programs are as follows:

After watching and reading reviews of Rick And Morty: THE ANIME, I figured it's not worth rerunning this day and age. As much as I wanted to rerun INVINCIBLE FIGHT GIRL weekly, I decided against it. This is one of the practices I will be doing as I start the Separate Ways arc of Toon Time Theater: stray away from Toonami's programming styles.

With Toon Time Theater being split between the Saturday Morning Animation Cram Session and More One Night, I dump the "essential" cartoons and a couple of E/I cartoons to Saturday nights, while my excess, "unnecessary" cartoons get dumped to Saturday mornings. (E/I programming will still be live-streamed as a practice, but with the FCC not controlling Twitch channels, I can live-stream any amount of E/I content per week, even if it's less than 3 hours worth of E/I content.) With Chasing Nostalgia's Suikomi SSBM tournaments happening each month on a Saturday since last October, I figured it's best to try to reduce my timeslots during the first three months of the Separate Ways arc, so that way I won't miss out on the tournaments when they start.

Starter for @petalsxfallen - Rick & Rejuvenated Petal

The club was packed, even if not as much as Rick had seen it in other occasions. You could still move around and find a spot at the counter without having to wait forever or push some drunk asshole out of the way. In his book, that counted as a win. As for his companion...she didn't remember ever having been in a place like that, so she had taken his word for it.

Coming back and finding out that Petal had lost all her memories had been a surprise for Rick too. He had recovered much more quickly than Morty had and he hadn't gotten as worried as the teen had. In truth, he wasn't worried at all. Not only because he was confident in his abilities, but also because, even if they hadn't been able to fix the Gem, it wasn't like it would affect him.

Or, at least, that was what he had thought before finding out just how annoying the pearl's overly subservient behaviour was.

Taking Petal out had been Summer's idea. They had gotten her to drink alcohol a few times already, finding out that she was a total lightweight and that she had a preference for fruity cocktails. Both things tracked with the Gem's current personality. The Petal they knew would have probably been horrified by it and the fact amused Rick to no end.

With a little smirk, the scientist took the drinks the bartender had made for them, nudging the pearl towards one of the small boots set all around the stage and the dance floor. The one he had gotten for her was a tall glass filled with a mixture of liquor and soft drinks that created a swirl of purple and green and decorated with pieces of alien fruits.

"S-So, feeling overwhelmed yet?" He teased, sprawling in his seat with his own drink. The music was loud, but not enough to force him to yell to be heard. "I-I bet there's nothing like there where you come from. Y-Your people seem to have no fuckin' idea of what 'having fun' means."
