A story of HOPE for Tech Fan's: Resident of Pabu unlocks a secret even THEY weren't aware they had access to!

“Can you hold this for a minute?” 

Omega handed me her brother’s goggles while she wiped down the shelf they would be resting upon in the Archium. 

Clean up and repairs to the island and the artifacts museum were underway after the Empire had left the planet of Pabu...and when the clones returned. 

They helped the residents of the island put their lives back together.

We helped them find a better life here. 

Crosshair was the one to locate Tech’s goggles under some heavy rubble Wrecker lifted out of the way.  His eyes catching a glint of light reflected off the remaining amber glass of its lenses. 

I held the goggles, staring into what was left of that glass. 

Unfortunately, I came to the island after he perished on a distant planet.  Never got the chance to meet him. 

Pity that.   

I became close to his remaining brothers and sister.   

It started with Hunter.  According to him, he has enhanced senses.  I clocked him right away... 

Just a feeling.   

But that’s been most of my life.  Small snatches of intuition... 

Lucky guesses...they happen occasionally.  Fortuitous events that helped me navigate my life in this ever-changing galaxy. 

Wrecker’s strength, Crosshair’s eyesight, Omega’s empathy and strategy... 

And Tech’s superior intellect. 

We all have gifts. 

I lift the goggles up to stare through them as Tech would have done.  That amber glass captivating me... 

Hunters head snaps up quickly.  I can FEEL his stare. 

My hands suddenly go numb...like when cold wind rushes over them. 

The Archium’s walls dissolve into blue, cloudy skies and it handicaps my equilibrium... 

I trip and fall...hear Wrecker screaming... 

Down. 

Down. 

Down. 

A shattering impact.  I suddenly cannot see... 

Don’t know how long I was...GONE...but the feelings of being in my own body returns.  I’m cradled in the warm arms of Wrecker.  His face along with Hunter, Crosshair, and Omega’s hover over me as I lay on the floor. 

“What happened?” Crosshair’s expression is one of concern. 

I lift up the goggles, clutched TIGHTLY in my hand and gaze at the splintered amber lenses. 

“Tech.” is all I can muster. 

“Whatta’bout Tech?” Wrecker asks with trepidation. 

Staring into those lenses, I inhale and exhale.  I’m breathing...he’s breathing...WE are breathing simultaneously. 

“I...felt...FEEL HIM...he’s...ALIVE.”   

All eyes widen, then shift to their Sergeant. 

Hunter’s eyes discern SOMETHING...he doesn’t understand what.  But he believes what I’m saying.  Can read it in his expression. 

He then taps the comm on is wrist. “Havoc 5, do you copy?” 

Silence, then a grumpy voice answers back “I copy Havoc 1.” 

“Rendevous at our coordinates.  Recon mission for Havoc 2“ 

Stunned silence, then an excited reply “Enroute IMMEDIATELY Havoc 1!  Havoc 5 OUT!!!” 

“You’ll help us find..?” Hunter requests as he reaches for my hand. 

I grip it firmly with conviction. “Yes...look forward to FINALLY meeting him.”

You crouched next to your bed, repeatedly rubbing your eyes, as you tried to make heads or literal tails of the sight before you. Draped across your bed where Thorn had been was a massive panther.

You screwed your eyes shut and bit the inside of your cheek. Cracking one eye open, you caught sight of a paw resting on your pillow, the tips of its razor sharp claws, peeking out at you.

You squeezed your eyes shut again, pinching your own arm. Hard. The back paws dangled over the edge of your bed.

You closed your eyes again, and tugged on your earlobe. The long black tail swished through the air, a deadly metronome.

You bit down on your lip. The ears twitched slightly as if it heard your frantic heartbeat.

There was a panther in your bed.

You reached towards your nightstand, the blaster Thire had given you rested on the frosted glass surface. As your hand curled around it, finger resting on the trigger, your brain engaged.

Your gut pushed the answer forward even as your brain worked to shove it back down. It would answer so many questions. That night at the zoo. The morning outside HQ. The alley behind your apartment.

“Thorn,” you called out softly, blaster trained on the panther in case your gut was wrong.

The panther lifted its head, fixing you in its amber gaze, as it yawned, showing off its sharp teeth.

Slowly, the massive feline stretched. You watched as its muscles flexed and bunched while it moved to rest on its belly in front of you. Thorn pressed his forehead to yours, and you released the breath you’d been holding.

“Hell of a secret to keep, commander,” you whispered.

He huffed a breath out, warming your face before a large paw knocked the blaster out of your hand.

“Rude!”

He purred in response, rubbing his face against yours.

The motif of sight- "unseen," "teach me to see," Rafaela asking if she ever saw her, it's all connected to art, beauty

Eden Espinosa has this enigmatic capacity to break my heart. When she's on the ground in front of the Baroness, that's a broken woman.

A man could not write "Woman Is." It's the kind of thing that could only come from a sapphic writer. Critics have said the lyrics are lacking but they're not meant to be narrative or clever, they're the sense of being alive and enraptured

I Will Paint Her is such a perfect description of those early feelings where you're trying to justify them- I just want to paint her, she's just a muse- and not understanding the intensity of why you feel what you feel

Eden Espinosa is so fucking beautiful

When Rafaela asks her to leave him you can see Tamara's eyes drop because she immediately knows she can't

How did Eden play a queer woman so well? She mentioned once she was hesitant about this kind of role & honoring it, but she nailed it.

At the end when Rafaela is sitting on the bench and Tamara says "I'm sorry"? Tears.

The urge to talk about my new Kingmaker Baroness as I'm building her vs. The ever present self doubt.

More random details from the final Broadway performance of Lempicka:

As I walked in line past the metal detectors at the theater entrance, composer Matt Gould was standing on the other side of the barrier, apparently waiting for someone. The people in front of me also recognized him and stopped for a few seconds to talk to him (from the body language it seemed like they paid him a compliment and he accepted it gracefully).

The merchandise had sold out the day before, but there were stacks of printed “Tamara de Lempicka” signature cards placed at the merchandise stands for people to take.

Prior to the show starting, there was a standing ovation as the creative team entered the theater and took their seats.

From my seat, there were standing ovations during the show for:

Eden Espinosa’s entrance (between the intro and “Unseen”)

Amber Iman’s entrance (prior to “Don’t Bet Your Heart”)

After “Don’t Bet Your Heart”

After “I Will Paint Her”

Sort of after “Woman Is,” but since the lights go up and it was intermission, it didn’t last long

After “Women”

After “Just This Way”

After “In the Blasted California Sun”

Even though ensemble member Nicholas Ward wasn’t in the show that day, I’m pretty sure I saw him come down the aisle and take a seat a few songs into Act I. It’s good that he was still able to be there.

The performance of “Paris” during the last show was especially funny. After the first madeleine Eden Espinosa accidentally spit out a crumb, which made the audience giggle. Thus primed for silliness, the audience laughed again when she turned back to her still life and had to swat at a fly that very obviously had designs on the madeleines. She continued with the “two madeleines” section but broke in the middle of licking the powdered sugar, which made the audience laugh, which made her laugh, etc. etc. There is some audio floating around where you can hear her kind of shakily wheeze out half a line there. In any case she got through the scene and called for Kizette, and now the audience was a bit amped up and gave Zoe Glick enthusiastic, prolonged entrance applause, which then made her giggle while trying to hold her goofy apple-pose which made EE grin (still with her mouthful of madeleine), to which the audience was like “wooooo!” and kept the applause going. After this the scene transitions over to the Baron and Baroness’s first appearance, which was also greeted with a lot of applause. So on the heels of all that the audience was very receptive to Beth Leavel’s ad-lib (“as I was saying…”), and it was a lot of fun to see and be a part of.

When Tamara and Rafaela finally have a chance to talk to each other by the bar at the Dead Rat, Suzy gives them some privacy and heads over to sit and/or flirt with the piano player (aka Charity Wicks, the show’s musical director & conductor). There is a sensitive piano line of two or three notes that is played a few times as Tamara's conversation with Rafaela gets more personal (it sounds very similar to the opening of “I Will Paint Her”) and in the final show it looked like it was actually Natalie Joy Johnson playing it.

During “Women,” after the Duchess de la Salle says, “I could use something for my entryway,” everyone looked at Suzy, Suzy looked at the audience knowingly, and the audience cracked up before she made the joke.

At the end of “Women” I think Rafaela and Tamara normally stand in the recessed semicircular seating area and briefly kiss each other. But since the applause kept going, well, so did they.

When Baroness left the stage after “Just This Way,” Beth Leavel looked very emotional and instead of just touching the Baron she stopped to give him a full arms-around-the-neck hug.

During “In the Blasted California Sun” Eden looked as if she were going to burst into tears through the entire song; the sense of sadness and loss was unusually palpable. (Which is one reason why “PUT THE PHONE DOWN” was so jarring.)

When the cast members circled by Tamara in the finale, it looked as if EE tried to give each of them a personal acknowledgement.

Kings, queens, princes and princesses are cool. But...

However, I would have liked to see more variety in royal titles. There are so many noble titles to explore! Some are hereditary, some are not, some can even be granted.

I know, that Disney marquises, or, Disney Baronesses don't sound as iconic to children's ears as Disney Princesses and so on.

And consequently, they wouldn't sell the merchandising that would keep the series' sponsorship going.

I find it so strange to have so many princes and princesses are the same age in Sofia The First. They should have royals with more varied ages.

What? Are you going to tell me that everyone agreed to have children on the same date? What weird implications are these...? (The same logic as Descendants I suppose, I just watched the movies.)

Even in movies like: The Little Mermaid, The Princess and the Frog, Brave, and Frozen, they cast characters who were royals who were not only children in their families.

And this strangeness becomes more apparent, when we found out that all these royal children are going to study at the same school!

Leaving the safety of their castles, to go to a neighboring kingdom.

Any member of royalty, would avoid exposing their most vulnerable family members to trips outside their territory like this as much as possible, as they would be a prime target for kidnapping and attacks.

Their kingdoms must be very small compared to Enchancia, and very close too, to justify this decision.

Unless the teaching on the Royal Preparatory Academy is exceptionally excellent, there is not much to be said here.

( The fairy trio? Really? Did they forget that they raised Princess Aurora in the middle of the forest? They may have taught her how to be a good person, a good princess in particular, maybe not so much. They are not even human, they would have little knowledge of what constitutes etiquette in non-magical human standards. )

Which, in the eyes of most royals, would not be convenient for them. Since many of them treat magical beings and magic users with indifference and even hostility.

Why would they agree to let the fairies manage their children's education? If even the royals themselves don't have good relations with magical beings?

In real life royalty, they would have private tutors, which wouldn't be as relatable to today's children, especially those from the middle class and below.

I just think it would have been interesting to explore that,for example:

If Princess Amber was the only princess at Enchancia's school, she would consequently be the most popular one there.

Which would make Sofia's arrival much more impactful for her, because she would no longer be the only princess in the place.

And Sofia would be much more nervous about creating a good impression on everyone, because her only comparison would be her own stepsister, who was already greatly admired by everyone at school and in Enchancia for being an exemplary princess.
