Not to be dramatic and point fingers but why is it that the worst people with no respect towards art or anything that doesn't involve mindless consumption for "the lore" always have to be drakengard 3 and nier fans. like i don't even try to look and search for things to complain about regarding them but somehow every stupid fucking thing in this fanbase comes back to them

My newest hobby is watching short horror films on YouTube and y'all there are so many good ones that I think need more appreciation. Here's a few of my favorites (tw horror, gore, death, etc)

This one is about a US air base in Germany that gets attacked by a werewolf. And guess what! It's all handmade practical effects!!!!

I really liked this one because you think it's gonna be one thing then turns out to be something different in a very forlorn way that I really like with scary stories (I think forlorn is an ok word to describe it but idk it's a feeling I can't often put into words)

Episode 2 - Watching Midnight

"I've done nothing wrong here, I've followed all of your rules, I've been a good little boy this entire time Victoria, what else do you wish of me?"

Victoria rolled her eyes like a parent disappointed with her child. Robbie was new, young, and impulsive, but right now that's what she needed. The other council members had taken a liking to Robbie, she didn't understand why, but she understood politics enough to let them have what they wanted and as such to let Robbie have what he wanted and what he wanted was another toy to play with.

"This girl, who is she? What's her background? Famous? Important?"

"No," Robbie shook his head at once. "Just a normal girl, a rookie officer, that's all. No one will miss her-"

"Alright, if you wish," Victoria gave her assent. He would do it any ways. She turned to make her exit but stopped to say one last thing. "With the recent activity it might be best to wait before taking her. Figure out whose slaughtering these people, deal with with that first and then let a little more time pass. Then make your move-"

Robbie groaned at that, impatient as usual. Talla, he thought, would be such a good piece for his collection. He had watched her a few nights, it would be so easy, he could have her under his control within a week or two.

"Robbie, trust me on this. Wait. Ok? I have a feeling we've already set off a few alarms here and the last thing we need right now is for you know who to come poking around."

"Yeah, fine. I'll wait..."

These days, it's difficult to find a new release by a major cosmetics company that isn't eye roll inducing. Whoever is keeping Barnabé Fillion employed at Aesop deserves some kind of industry award because this Othertopias line is proving to be delightfully, consistently, non commercial.

The latest Othertopia release, Gloam, is an achingly tactile and evocative mimosa. Like others in this line, it's distinct and captures the complexity one can only find in natural ingredients. Unlike the others, it's comforting, nostalgic and more inviting.

The scent opens with a strong herbaceous, anise note. As the scent warms up, this edges into cumin but there is that anise edge to it that keeps it out of curry dishes and unwashed bodies territory. The mimosa emerges quickly and is the centrepiece of this scent. Its floral character is accented by sun-warmed hay, a touch of firm blonde leather, more than a hint of lacy knickers. This is further enhanced by the suggestion of iris, giving the faintest suggestion of powder, but the mimosa-iris pairing also gives Gloam a soft skin and flesh character. This softness is countered by a fairly assertive and tactile spiciness, but rather than the typical gourmand melange of pepper, cardamom and cinnamon, there is a dark and intimate, aquatic, almost amniotic character that is also prominent in Karst and Miraceti. It's not your typical "barnyard" though I've read a lot of people describing it this way.

The spice doesn't really disappear in the dry down. Rather, it melds into the florals. The initial contrast and eventual blending leaves you with a scent that feels very alive and real, very human. It's both novel yet deeply familiar, grounded yet dreamy. It's sensual without being sexy. Highly recommended.
