Mermaidia

Mermaidia is an underwater realm where merpeople can be found. The mersociety is located beside Mermaid Cove. Beyond the merfolk, merfairies and the Sea Butterfly also reside in Mermaidia. The kingdom and its inhabitants are ruled over by Prince Nalu. Those who can't breathe underwater naturally can eat a special kind of kelp to visit Mermaidia for a short time.

Laverna's Character & Personality

Having been banished to the Bogs of the Hinterlands, Laverna is constantly whining about the heat. She now demands her henchmen constantly pamper her by fanning. Although Laverna can't leave her prison, she's still causes chaos through commanding others, including her pets, the Firebirds. Her second plan involves obtaining and eating the Immunity Berry to be invulnerable to all magic, regardless of time. Laverna made Fungus Maximus and the fungi under him kidnap the mer-prince. They then forced him to lead them to the berry, or they would destroy Mermaidia with a magical poison if he refused. Unfortunately, Laverna was transformed into a toad by a true self berry which was somehow painted with a red stripe to make it look like the Immunity Berry.

My current collection of Barbie movie prints based off of the original movies from the 2000's! A few more may be added later on (I know I'm missing 12 dancing princesses and Magic of Pegasus) But, it's nice to see them all together in once place. ^^

You’re trolling me, right? Either way I don’t appreciate it. If you’re serious, though, here’s my reply

Elina Staying a Mermaid Doesn’t Work

1) 04:55 “I love it! It’s the most incredible feeling...I still don’t totally believe it’s real. I keep feeling like my wings are part of an amazing dream and I’ll wake up one morning without them” - First piece of dialogue for the entire movie (sans the recap) tells us that Elina hasn’t had these wings for very long and is VERY much attached to them, and it’s hinted that she’s scared of losing them.

2) 33:40 “Give up my wings?...Would I get them back?...No, this is crazy! I just got these wings; I can’t give them up.” - Our suspicions are proven, as Elina explicitly states she just got her wings, the one thing she’s wanted her whole life, and refuses to give them up, even though she knows a tail would be easier for her quest

3) 41:04 “[GASPS] What have I done?!” - The very second that Elina chooses to give up her wings for a mermaid tail, she is shocked and regretful. However, she does push aside her thoughts in order to save Nori.

4) 1:00:37 “I did it!” - Elina is very obviously happy to be out of the water, because she has kept the Fungi distracted while also finding a way to dry land so she can get her wings back.

4) 1:01:28 “I..I had to get the vial” When the bubbles in this shot disappear, the first thing we see is Elina touching the necklace, realizing what she’s done. Even the way she says this line shows that she wasn’t thinking in the moment. It was a great heroic sacrifice to the audience and the mermaids, but it cost her dearly.

5) 1:01:54 My wings. They’re gone, Bibble. They’re gone for good.” - Elina observes her sacrifice out loud, really solidifying to herself what she’s done and starts to break down from it. She is absolutely devastated.

6) 1:02:57 “Oh, Bibble, don't you see? I’m not going home, ever. I can’t; I’m a mermaid now. I’ll never see Peony or Dandelion and you can’t stay underwater forever, so...” - Elina sees her life flashing before her eyes and knows she’ll have to say goodbye to everyone, even Bibble. She’s so sad she can’t even bring herself to finish saying that Bibble will have to leave her in Mermaidia and go back to the Magic Meadow by himself.

7) 1:04:18 “You’re right. I’d still be me, but I’d find a way to be okay” - Yes, she says this, but look at her actual face when she does. She still looks sad. Not hopeful, not optimistic, sad. She’s basically lying to herself to try to feel better in case she doesn’t get her wings back

8) 1:05:02 - As soon as she looks at herself and sees she has her wings back, she’s overjoyed. She starts zooming around, laughing and smiling. She’s completely happy and relieved that she doesn’t have to lose her wings (and also uproot her entire life for a tail she didn’t even want).

TL;DR The entire time Elina was a mermaid was nothing but painful to her and she so the idea that she would willingly give up her wings to stay a mermaid to be with Nori makes no sense
