Theory Time: Draias is a Pokémon

His Imperial Majesty, the Emperor of Space has four designs of which one has two different color schemes. He didn't only appear in Brave Fighter of Sun Fighbird, but in Brave Express Might Gaine as well and if we combine these two shows into a singular universe, it... makes no sense. That's why this post exists, to explain nonsense with even more nonsense. I will pretend that Draias is not his own person here, but a species - it's more fun that way.

Let us take a look at the most basic form of a Draias - that is the first redesign shown in Brave Express Might Gaine episode 43. It shows significantly less details on its frame and a simple, primary color scheme. Only the most prominent features remain, such as the batwing-shaped fins, the protrusion on his chest and a general chiroptera wing shape for his shoulder pads. They even kept the fancy black markings on Draias' abdominal plating, but it seems they forgot about its wings.

Most basic Draias' are docile. They don't like to interact with others and can be found lurking in dark, creepy laboratories. It is questionable whether they are intelligent enough at this stage or if the cunning behaviour that is typical for a Draias develops much later in their life.

If His Majesty were a pokémon, that would be the starter form. It's simple, it's small, it doesn't really strike fear into the enemy's heart. (It looks just like a normal mech fr) But that changes when the Draias reaches a certain level.

Next, a distinction needs to be made. Draias' evolution chain splits into two paths, the original design from Fighbird and the upgraded Might Gaine design like in the show.

His original design is the best, in my humble opinion. He wears all the colors of the rainbow (I have another Draias theory prepared for Pride Month) and if you think purple is missing, that's the color of his soul. He is so over the top in every aspect of his existence, I don't think my words can do him justice so let his appearance speak for himself.

This first evolution of a Draias is very powerful and aggressive. Paired with its superior intellect, it can become a real threat and it will use every tool in its possession to cause chaos.

In the last evolution, a Draias turns into the God of the Dark Universe - and of course its frame changes too. The procedure leaves it immensely powerful, more sinister, partly organic and a shadow of its former self. It is volatile and craves negative energy in the form of suffering or destruction and it will not stop there. Do not let your Draias reach this stage or we're all doomed.

If you baptize the first form, the Draias doesn't turn into its Fighbird version, but into the upgraded Might Gaine one which comes in two colors. Their behavior resembles that of the original, but they are far more obedient and less likely to lose their cool in battle. However, that is where the evolution ends for them. Theorists claim that baptizm has something to do with it. The blue variant is the standard coloration and the red one is equivalent to a shiny version.

But one might wonder why the red variant looks so familiar.

...which brings me to my next theory:

The red and blue mechs are totally Draias and Fighbird's children in spirit and you can't convince me otherwise. Tune in never to hear me descend into AU madness and tell you everything about the five fanfics I've abandoned where they raise them and become a very dysfunctional family more about it.
