But anyway, I did art of Qiang Bao as a nine tail fox and was thinking of redoing their designs, backstory, and such. I'm currently rewriting it on Microsoft Word and might do the redesign on Mei as well.

Okay this was none of the ideas I have been tossing around but something that came to mind on my way home with Fox Xiao Bao

Jin Xiao Bao’s ears twitched in interest. Ahead he could hear the ringing of metal hitting metal and the cries of humans in the midst of combat. There was the smell of blood and death. Xiao Bao knew he should stay away, it could be dangerous for one of his kind. However, Xiao Bao was nothing if not curious, especially when it came to humans.

Others of his kind only saw humans as prey to be used to refill their energy. Xiao Bao wasn’t like others of his kind. He felt compassion and affection for the humans, that’s why he refused to use the humans like the others did. They would seduce a human, then drain them of all energy until they died, then move on to the next. Xiao Bao would not maintain his own existence by ending that of others. Instead, he would sleep with a human once or twice, taking what he called little sips of energy that wouldn’t shorten their lifespan even a little. It meant that he had to sleep with many humans, but Xiao Bao didn’t mind. In fact, he really enjoyed having sex with humans.

Batfam Spreadsheet 3 (and 4, technically)

I HAVE DONE A THING. For anyone who was following my previous enormous spreadsheet of doom, I sat down and split it into a PREBOOT one and a POST-FLASHPOINT one.

Mostly this was to make things a little less unwieldy to use. I'll be continuing to update the post-flashpoint one as usual (and, I mean, I guess the preboot one if something happens to come up, but I expect that one to be pretty static).

(I might look at doing some kind of multiversal one, too? We'll see. Open to suggestions/requests there!)

All the previous stuff about what's in them and how they work still applies! See below the cut for more detail!

When characters are only in flashback, that's listed with a clarifying role (e.g. Flashback (Supporting)). Roles listed as "Flashback" only are either Minor or Cameo roles. Unreal indicates the character is in a dream/hallucination/vision/etc.

Identities: Character names in the Identity column indicate someone is out of costume or at a point where they aren't using a secret identity (flashbacks before officially taking it up, gaps where they stopped, etc.)

All sheets are conditionally formatted so if you enter "Y" in the Read column it will highlight the whole row in green to mark it off, if you're the kind of person who likes to keep track and mark things off a list.

The widget at the top of each sheet will calculate how many entries the sheet has and what percentage are marked as "read" (based on entering "Y" for the Read column)!

Series dates are the start of the series, since that's how a lot of places besides DC itself with their weird "volume" convention distinguish different runs.

Collected: Lists collected volumes that contain that issue (at least in part). "NC" indicates that as far as I can find this issue has not been collected in a book form. Issue may be collected in additional places or editions, but it's a starting point! I found this site very helpful in figuring this part out.

Book Review: The Fox Wife by Yangsze Choo

First things first, if you like audiobooks, you need to do the audio, the author read it herself and she has a lovely voice

As with many dual POV books, I strongly preferred Snow's over Bao's but I loved the little love story in Bao's! We don't have enough love stories for people who are over the age of 40.

I'm not super big on historical fiction fan but I liked this! I want to listen to more by this author but I think I will need time in between because it is much slower than what I usually like and more winding plot wise.

I kept expecting more action and I wish the reader was told a litttttle more before the end because it was a bit of an info dump. Especially the part about Snow's like,,,, life philosophy??? Kind of weird we heard about it only at the end really.

I loved loved loved (predictably) all the mythology around foxes!!! I wanted to read more!

The prose was very lovely, creating a great atmosphere.

The end was kind of anticlimactic for me. But I finally got the falling action for I have been begging for!!!

There was a little too much of the gender binary baked into the text for me, however historical fiction I think has a trickier position than other genres so I tried to be understanding.

I imagine the rest of Choo's books will be a high four stars for me in the future.

I would recommend this to people who don't mind less plot in their book, it's pretty slow paced.

I wish Choo had been allowed to trust her readers more, there was a lot of Chinese history and culture 101 that made the narration a little choppy. It felt like her editors were like, your white readers won't get this, you need to explain it

This would be a good first fantasy for a fan of historical fiction

Shui Long Yin Booting Ceremony

Today, the cdrama Shui Long Yin, starring Luo Yunxi, Xiao Shunyao, Chen Yao, Ao Ziyi, Jeremy Tsui, Lin Yun and Bao Shangen, started filming in Hengdian. While some actors like Riley Wang were absent, others like Li Jiahao (Nian Baiyu from TTEOTM) made a surprise appearance!

I love our fox-dragon Tang Lici! Luo Yunxi looked absolutely stunning! Just look at this cutie!!

After the ceremony, Luo Yunxi changed hairstyle, make-up and costume and went to shoot the first scene!

Now I'm waiting (not so) patiently for the official poster and cast announcement. While I have only read the first 3 chapters of the novel, I think I recognize some of the characters.

I think that Bao would only give a speech if the situation were dire enough, but if he were to give said speech, it would be a speech about how closely he has become with his friends and how he loves all of them.

8. Do complex puzzles intrigue or frustrate them?

Complex puzzles primarily intrigue him, though it would grow to frustrate him a bit if the puzzle took him too long to solve. He's a big proponent of "step away and come back later when it comes back to puzzles."

Bao. (because bao bao kinda sounds like the barking of a dog) I have no idea what she is, i just went with what my mind told me and this beast is what popped out. anywho, she's a large mythical beast then.
