he knows bdubs loves horses so he makes a statue at his base of him juggling horse heads and a billboard outside bdubs's forest spelling hi bdubs in horse heads. he beat bdubs's high score in frogger. in sl he was hunting down etho while bdubs tried to talk him out of it.

bdubs in turn will get him back.

many diamonds spent on frogger, horses bred in his base (they're all going to die.) etc.

I really do think that given the chance to raise Jin together they would've been a very 'normal' couple despite both being such extraordinary people, and can definitely envision little moments like this. Something about how their energies mesh just feels like they would have a low-drama relationship, perfectly content to be in their own little bubble with each other. Maybe it's the introvert vibes they both give off, or how heavily they complement each other in ways that nobody else could match and that speak to the potential of deep mutual understanding.

So much happened during these parties beyond watching eyes. With such large houses, the crowd would thin out around the grand chamber or ballroom, taking a moment to socialise in the quiet hallways.

      Even when sent to events on Irnvar's orders, Vigor still had plenty to enjoy, though he often sought solace in the gardens. Gossip, stress, and crowds all wore him down. Most of all, Vigor was plagued by the building paranoia that followed every job. People he had cheated out of deals, even if they did not know it was him, or ladies he'd flirted with in exchange for valuable gossip. As careful as he was, he couldn't keep this up forever. Then who does he become, once he is of no use to Irnvar?

      Vigor is caught up in thought as he sits on an outdoor staircase, only occasionally looking up to make sure he is still alone. Soon enough, he sees a stranger approach.

      He had certainly noticed the man, and already felt a fool for not knowing anything about him, after all, he stood out. It was rare to see tieflings at these events, least of all one marked and scarred. The curiosity pulled Vigor from his dreary thoughts.

      ❝Apologies. I'm not in the way, am I? Just needed a little fresh air... A few of the ladies wear a little too much perfume,❞ he jests, fixing a grin upon his lips. ❝We haven't met, have we?❞ Vigor says before rising to his feet. It was enough of a faux pas to disappear from the crowd, he needn't make things worse by continuing to wallow in misery and paranoia. Besides, he has nothing to lose by learning who the strange tiefling was. He offers out his hand. ❝Vigor, of House Shieldbearer. A pleasure to meet you,❞ greeting him with a warm smile, far removed from the man sat in solitude just moments ago.

Howdy Caroline, I saw a post about Talk shop Tuesday so I thought I'd be nosy on main. I wonder, how does research factor into your fic writing, and what was the most taxing research you had to do for a fic? 🐸

oooh hi, iva!!! thank you so much for shooting the ask--god knows i always love talking about fic!

to answer your question: i think most of my fic-related research is limited to "what episode did character x do this/say that", just so that i have the timeline of events down. i know it's not the end of the world if i don't perfectly remember how a certain scene went down, but i can't help it--i like being precise when it comes to at least recalling canon events.

outside of that specific brand of research (just making sure my timeline/recitation of quotes is all set), i'll sometimes do wilder research for like ... au projects that are set in a different time. that doesn't happen often (i think the reason why i tend not to write au's that are set other than present day is specifically because i get overwhelmed by the amount of research to be done), but when it does, i'm usually stuck researching for hours. that's probably why i just never got around to posting this one period jwds au i have. the plot keeps shifting, mostly to suit the research that i've done. deep sigh. one day i swear i'll finish writing that story and post it, but right now it's just gotten a little away from me. it's marinating.

outside of that story though, i think i've been lucky enough to not need to do too much research for fics . . . maybe that'll change one day (especially if i ever fall in love with a more period-drama-esque story), but ! ! ! as of now, i think my research time really only takes up 10 - 15% of my fic writing process.

Closed starter for @intothewylde Setting: Rain House, the Stormlands. Dark clouds have gathered and a pouring rain has kept guests of House Wylde within the keep.

He could see the raging ocean from the window. The image invoked memories of what he'd experienced during his time at sea, lost, hanging to life by a thread. In moments like this one, Ulises retreated subtly, keeping to himself. All of it lived inside his mind, and he carried the experience on his skin —sunburns that healed as scars. The Lord of Tarth didn't shake or feel fear, he didn't grow wide-eyed with trauma gleaming in his eyes. No. He just stayed quiet, absorbed, looking at the very ocean that once nearly swallowed him whole.

A ruckus was heard when a man burst through the gates, entering the great hall in a fit of rambling words. Ulises was close to the entrance and he moved over towards the man, keeping a safe distance in case the man attacked amid his delusions.

“She is real, I heard her. I saw her. I didn’t think she was real…Gods save us…” the man, who was very clearly dressed in a sailor's garb, rambled.

“It's alright,” the Evenstar spoke as the man fell to his knees, a dazed look in his eye. All of Ulises' senses told him this man meant no harm, and so he approached further, taking the sailor by the shoulders to steady him. “It's alright, you're safe now. Who did you see?”.

The sailor lost consciousness then. When Ulises looked up from the fainted man, he saw the Lord of the Rain House approaching.
