So I watched 'Bank of Dave'. Do not fret if it hasn't made it to your country's Netflix yet, the Lepps are only in it for about 3 minutes at the end so you're not missing much. It is a really sweet film though, your typical feel-good British underdog story.

Bank of Dave (2023)
🎬Based on the true-life experiences of Dave Fishwick. Telling the story of how a working class Burnley man and self-made millionaire fought to set up a community bank.
📝A truly uplifting, feel good and inspirational story which will leave you with a smile. Recommend watch especially during cold winter nights.

"Bank of Dave" Movie Review
"Bank of Dave" Movie Review
In the new tradition of true-life British feelgood, stick-it-to-the-man films, simple people outsmarting snobs is the formula used to elicit audience sympathy. In Bank of Dave, there’s a bit of a hearkening back to the classic Local Hero, where an urban sophisticate is progressively charmed by the small town and eventually goes native. When Hugh (Joel Fry) is tasked by his law firm with…

Implausible, untrue, patently absurd. Quite marvellous. We seem to do these things in a very particular way here in the UK. True stories of British eccentrics who achieve some measure of fame. We adapt them for the silver screen leaving only the faintest sliver of truth entombed in a vast shell of made up nonsense. Military Wives, Fishermen’s Friends, Calendar Girls, Eddie The Eagle. Still, if you decide to not worry about googling the facts and enjoy it for what it is, it’s properly excellent and a total joy. I smiled a lot throughout. Joel Fry a quirky delight in the lead.

Some film recommendations
With the colder weather we've found ourselves on the sofa more often, enjoying Netflix' gems, here are some of our recent favourites. You might find these obvious, you might not, either way we'd recommend them!
For a good old cry, A Man Called Otto is a beautiful depiction of a man struggling with his mental health, and life in general, after the death of his wife, the love of his life. Beautifully acted out by Tom Hanks and the endearing Mariana Trevino, it is a beautiful and heart-warming comedy drama. Something a little more light-hearted and inspiring is the powerful Hidden Figures. Three incredible black female mathematicians are part of the team at NASA that works on bringing a man into orbit, the dynamics between them and their colleagues is an ever changing one throughout the film and its ending is simply wonderful.
If you wish to see a bunch of spirited women swear like sailors and plot against one another to resolve the mystery behind some Wicked Little Letters, then this film is certainly one for you! It's made us giggle, laugh out loud, and try creating our own, rather creative, wicked little insults. Here's another inspiring and heart-warming one in the form of Bank of Dave! With a top notch cast this feel-good is an easy one to watch and might just inspire you to start your own bank...
