so I’ve seen your au and I fell in love with it! I haven’t seen any one try to do a wild!Kirby so I decided to do a small little design that toys with that idea.

it was a struggle trying to figure out what kind of animal or animal-like enemy that fit Kirby but then I remembered that Kirby has an animal copy ability so I kinda based wild!kirby on it!

So here is “The ravenous beast themselves!”

I like to imagine that wild!kirby would have more than one form based on the other beasts but this is mainly their main form.

they help out the beasts who are in trouble and basically keep every beasts (other than the beast council) in line. (I just thought it would make sense due to Kirby’s strength and copy ability.)

I imagine that Kirby is still, Kirby when not on duty- (they Also have one big appetite.)

As for how Kirby got this way, since wild!kirby is based on animal Kirby I think during the whole “getting sucked into a vortex”, a bunch of Gaw Gaws got sucked in with a bunch of other past animal like enemies. Kirby lands near some Gaw gaws and swallows one, becoming animal Kirby. Unfortunately they were found by the beast council and was captured and brainwashed as a result.

the Gaw Gaws and other past animal enemies ended up joining the beast pack and I think that the Gaw Gaws will start acting like assistants in a way.

that’s all I thought about Wild!kirby! I haven’t thought about the mask but I’ll probably think of one when I think about Wild!kirby more. For now though, enjoy my little rambles!

I really like Animal Kirby as a concept! Too bad it only shows up a few spots in Squeak Squad, is only good at very slowly digging special spots of dirt, and appears nowhere else :'O Maybe I'm sentimental because Squeak Squad was my first Kirby game. Maybe they'll find a way to implement it in a game somehow again!

The twig in Kirby's fur and the Beast Pack faceprint are a nice touch :) I wonder if Gaw Gaws and Awoofies would get along?! They're like canine cousins in a sense! :P

But also I have no idea what force in the universe could possibly be powerful enough to brainwash Kirby. I'm not totally sure if there even is one in the Kirby universe. He doesn't get overpowered very often. Buuuuut in the fun scenario where that force is Fecto, I could see this! I wonder in this scenario... Well... whenever anything is on Kirby's opposing side and threatening the things he loves and protects, they tend to be spectacularly defeated, right?

...If there's ever a force strong enough to possess Kirby, the rest of our heroes are probably doomed. Or they're going to have to gather a lot of powerful beings to stop him.

Anyway, thanks again for sharing your art and ideas!! If you like this concept you should keep running with it and see where it goes! I mean, I think it's cool! Who knows, maybe it's the beginning of a cool story or a springboard into other ideas you may have <3 Keep having fun with it!

HAPPY WADDLE DEE WEDNESDAY. HAVE AN AU DESIGN. BANDANA DEE I LOVE YOU FOREVER AND EVER

+Design notes/headcanons under cut

Lots of inspiration from animals I'd call "orbs with legs". For example: Jerboas, European Robins, etc etc. Keeps the round silhouette while also giving me reference to use!

Also inspiration from owls. Barn Owls in particular. Wanted to keep the face relatively bare with a very small mouth since in canon Dees don't have visible mouths at ALL. So I used the owl beak structure.

Ears are a remnant of when I originally wanted to make the Dees canine-esque to make a reference to their Forgotten Land counterparts (Awoofies). Now they're there to give the head the silhouette of a Waddle Dee with their arms up :)

Also kept King Dedede's design while making this (I wanted a young Dedede to look like a Waddle Dee), so overall Dees look like little theropod dinosaurs!

Dees are communal creatures that also raise their young in a group. So while it is possible for a Dee to have actual parents, the connection typically isn't one of a nuclear family structure. Dees place a lot of emphasis on chosen family, strong platonic bonds, and friendships! Bandee's friends are a mixture of all three to him :)

While Kirby has star-like markings, I wanted to give Bandee hearts! Because he is soooooo full of love

The bandana was a gift from the King. This is what sparked Bandee's fierce loyalty to the King. He makes sure to treat it very gently so it lasts as long as possible

Bandee uses his tail to give him the lift needed to fly and keep up with his friends! He trained very hard to be able to use it properly and not fall out of the sky. He is very proud of this feat and is willing to teach it to other Waddle Dees who ask!

Could you please tell us more about Leon and Carol's characterizations in the Light Novels that you know of? I'm super curious about their personalities since we don't get a ton to work off of in the Forgotten Land game itself! :)

OMG YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS MY BELOVEDS!!!!! okay so the only one with those two in it ive read myself is the samurai novel ofc, and even then ive only read half of that one, but i do know what happens in the fl novels. tho i wont recount too much from that due to the said, i havent properly read them thing. slight spoilers for samurai novel btw so ill stick this ramble under a cut

disclaimer first of all that since the samurai novel is an au, their personalities could be a bit different from the fl novels (dedede and mk are Veryy different for example), but for the most part i think they act just about exactly how youd expect them to!

leon is exceptionally kind and cares a lot about the rest of the beast pack, to the point of being overprotective at times. when elfilin brings back kirby and bandee to their home saying theyre friends leon just gives them an intense look and acts cold to them, not seeming to trust them. when dedede comes over later and accuses elfilin of being a criminal he gets absolutely FURIOUS, but calms down and apologizes after seeing that hes scaring dedede a little by doing so. he acts how youd expect a leader to too, with an aura of dignity and firm but understanding communications with the rest of the pack, and hes able to put aside his own feelings on things for the greater good.

carol in comparison bounces off of him really well i feel. shes more headstrong and emotionally driven and will huff and puff a little over leon's decisions if she doesnt necessarily agree with them, though she relents to those decisions in the end once leon explains his reasoning. but if its not leon making those decisions she doesnt agree with, watch out. just like the game, she takes position of leader when leons not around and when dedede+meta told her she couldnt go off to forgo dreams to save him she got outright aggressive LOL. shes pretty sharp minded and usually the first to speak her mind. also she shittalked dedede i just wanted to bring that up. we love a mean girl

again im only halfway through, but the beast pack as a whole play a surprisingly big role in the samurai novel. i rlly look forward to seeing more of them >:]]]

How'd you like your wings: Feathered or Draconic? (Kirby and the Forgotten Land One Shot) (Beast!Meta AU)

Don't even ask me why I'm going so fast with these Kirby One Shots, I'm not sure myself

“Ok, so, next one…”

The sound of something wet and squelchy echoes ever so slightly against the bathroom tiles.

It comes with a prickling, pulling sensation that borders on painful. But truly, Meta Knight’s been through worse.

(This is the best he’s felt in months.)

A big, black feather is pulled off his draconic wings. Dedede just drops it in a pile by the knight’s side, and Meta watches from the corner of his eyes as it slowly descends. He moves his hand away in time for it to fall, neatly, on top of the pile. Then, he rests his hand on it once again.

Despite everything (how long they were attached to him, who they come from, what they represent-) the feathers are still stupidely, incredible soft. He didn’t really mean to start kneading them conciously, but it still happened as the minutes dragged on, and his boredom grew, along with the itchiness, and nearly-painful sensation on his wings.

(He hated himself, just a little, for finding a small comfort in the act.)

(On his other hand, Galaxia glew faintly, reminding him that there was nothing wrong with finding comfort in the small things.)

(He would beg to differ.)

“…Meta?”

“Hmm?” The Knight turned around slightly, trying for his wings to not move around too wildly and cause yet another small overflow on the tub they were in. “What is it, my king?”

“Just, uh…” Dedede lost his train of thought for a second, after being fixed with Meta’s intense stare. The fact that the knight didn’t have his mask to hide his adorable, pretty face didn’t help. “Uh, something’s been botherin’ me for a bit-”

“Do you need me to move my wings?”

“N-no, not that,” Dedede went back to softly scrubbing away at the left over tar on his knight’s wings, as if to make a point, “just, well… was…?” He swallowed around the small lump on his throat. “Was this stuff hot, when they put in on you?”

Meta averted his gaze, ever so slightly. “…It wasn’t boiling,” is what the knight finally settles on saying.

Dedede’s own feathers ruffled up. “…But it was hot,” he reiterates, almost accusatory.

Meta’s hand clenches at the pile of feathers.

Dedede, of course, notices.

“Sorry, I… didn’t mean to sound like I was mad at you,” the king says, softly. “I ain’t, really, I’m… worried still, if anything.”

There’s a few moments of silence, only interrupted by soft splashes of water as Dedede keeps washing his knight’s wings.

“…You should be,” Meta whispers, barely audible. “Mad at me, I mean.”

“Wha- Why?” Dedede asks, taken aback.

“I just- let that… disgusting creature control me,” he hisses out, unable to keep reproach off his voice. “I let it turn me against you all… I kidnapped the Waddle Dees, for stars sake, and- and-!”

“…And to my knowledge, you stayed behind to face a whole army, in order to keep my Dees and Kirby and Bandee safe,” Dedede completed, the touch against Meta’s wings becoming softer still. “You did good, Meta.” The knight huffed, unbelieving. “Really! And, hell, if people had to use aaaaaall the stuff I did while possessed against me…”

“That’s different,” Meta Knight says, quickly.

“Why?” asked Dedede.

Meta Knight stayed quiet.

“No, really, why?” The king leaned over the tub, his arms hugging around his knight. “I’d love to hear your compelling arguments.”

Meta looked up, meeting Dedede’s gaze. “Because I say so,” he replied, finally.

So close to him, Meta could appreciate the amused twinkle in the king’s eyes. The way his grin grew across his face. The warm, bubbly breath that escaped him, as he bit back a laugh. “Well, I say it’s the same,” Dedede declared, “and since I’m the king, my word is law, yadda yadda, it’s the same and my favorite knight needs to stop blaming himself.”

The king ended his little tirade by booping one of Meta’s blush marks with one finger. His hand remained there, hovering over the knight’s cheeks, as he studied it carefully.

Then, a little, affective smile formed on Meta’s face. “I suppose, if that’s a direct order from the king…”

“’Course it is-! Ah…” Dedede fell quiet, as his knight, chivalrous as always, held his hand and softly kissed it. Not satisfied with that, Meta proceeded to nuzzle at it, purring lowly.

 “…I missed you,” the knight admitted, his words slightly distorted by the vibrations going through his body.

Dedede smiled, warmly. “Missed you too, my sworn partner.”

Meta Knight purred louder at the nickname. He let go of his king’s hand, grabbing at his beak instead to guide him into a kiss.

It wasn’t the first time they kissed after the accident. The second Dedede saw Meta coming back, he ran to his beloved, holding him tightly in his arms as he first asked if he was alright, then peppered him with tiny kisses all around while the Waddle Dees ‘awww’ed at them.

This one was different, however. Without the excess adrenaline and longing, it went slower, more careful. It felt, nearly, sacred; a moment of respite between just two of them.

…Or so they thought.

“…Am I interrupting something?” A high pitched voice asked from the bathroom door, causing the knight and king to immediately break away while looking at the intruder.

“KIRBY!”

Upon hearing their less-than-happy voices, the young hero held up the tray he was carrying, almost like a piece offering. “I brought you some food…”

The partners shared a look. They had been there for a while, and would remain longer still. “Fine, come in.”

“But do not forget to knock next time,” Meta Knight chastised softly. Kirby nodded.

The kid left the tray in the ground, near the two of them. Meta Knight grabbed at one of two burgers instantly, while Dedede worked on drying his hands off first.

“Are you… feeling better, Meta?” Kirby asked, trying to not make it so obvious how concerned he was for his friend.

Meta Knight, of course, could see right through him. “I am, Kirby, thanks for asking.” He lifted one of his wings slightly off the tub, showing it to the child. “King Dedede is doing a fantastic job so far…”

Dedede tried to hide how much he glowed at the praise.

Kirby looked between the two, before smiling at them. “Ok then!” He said, cheerfully, before walking to the exit. “Oh! Before I forget!” Kirby turned around, his eyes shining. “The Deedly Dees are doing a concert tonight! You should go if you can!”

Kirby ran out then, while the king and his knight sat in comfortable silence.

At least, until Dedede turned to the other. “Do ya’ think… tonight, we could…?”

“I would love to attend the concert with you,” Meta Knight replied, straight to the point.

Dedede grinned.

“It’s a date, then.”

The Fall of Bandana Waddle Dee

The Courageous Spear was swept from his home to a lonely New World.

As he navigated the kingdom of concrete ruins, he persevered by holding onto the hope that his Great King would come for him.

But months passed, and he reached the end of the road. Nobody was around to help.

He had finally reached his limit. His hope and strength emptied with his tears, and he lost himself in a dream.

When he awoke, he rose his spear in the name of the Queen that would lead her Pack to the promised Land of Dreams.

He roared with his Beast brethren, and the Forgotten Land trembled in fear.

Unfortunately, the kirfluff comic I was working on has been discontinued. I lost all my files for it when my laptop broke, but I still have some copies of some finished pages that I printed out!

In case you were curious, here they are! (Sorry if they look a little weird, my phone camera is pretty blurry)

And that's where it ends! There would be an explanation later on, when Fluff finds Bandee in the Forgotten Land, but for now this is all I have.

Well, besides some old concept art. I'll probably post that separately later.

This whole au started when I was bored in class and went "hey what if prince fluff was more relevant", and Forgotten Land had come out sort of recently, so I filed it away into the idea cabinet in my brain and forgot about it for like a year.

Kirbtober 2024 Companion Pieces - Week Two

A companion lore piece to the ongoing Kirbtober, using the list by @paintpanic. You can see the full art collection for this week here.

Day 7: Copy Ability

The Animal Copy Ability. What a funny little thing. Anyone that possessed this ability is guaranteed to act as if they are a very cheerful dog with a bit of a digging obsession. Aw.

I would like to say in preface that this ability DOES exist in Forgotten Land in this AU... it's just due to how the Technician ability functions, Kirby has been much used to inhale weapons and attacks rather than people. So in the end, Animal ends up being barely used, because uh. No inhaling the animals. Inhale guns instead.

Also, I asked anyone in this one server to recommend me an ability to draw for this prompt, first come first served, and someone just snatched in and said Animal like. 5 seconds later. Lmao.

Day 8: Phantom

Guess who doesn't have an idea what to do with this prompt because she is tired and absolutely not touching the Phantom counterparts from FL? It's me. Yeah, that's me. So instead, here's the Ghost ability.

Anyone holding this ability seems to be a mischievous bastard who likes scaring people off. Like, you know the whole ghosts pranking people thing. Yeah. That's it, that's all there is to it.

Day 9: Magic

A mage with endless curiosity can be seen walking through libraries and towers to learn magical spells. They are a master of magic, mana, and its surrounding topics. Traveling through far away lands to satiate their thirst of knowledge, they will keep and even share what they find to those who deserve it.

Flare Beam is one of the known existing 5 Super Abilities, created via the Fallen Star. When the star is restored, it overrides the user's personality to that akin of a curious mage with a little obsession to learning and sharing their knowledge of magic, who can instantly learn any spells as long as correct instructions are given. Otherwise, the typical 'summon massive orb of magic' shtick stays intact.

Its skills are as follows:

Sparkling Swish - swipes the staff in front of a target, blinding them with sparkles for a few seconds.

Hocus Sphere - charges up before creating a large ball made of magic. The ball can be controlled by the user's staff by moving it around. It will slowly shrink and dissipate overtime.

Pocus Disperse - only can be used on a magic attack. This spell will dissipate any magic attack property, including Hocus Sphere itself. There are many ways for the dissipation to work depending on the spell type, for example long beams will split into two before disappearing harmlessly, balls of magic will explode on spot, and so on and so forth.

Innate Mastering - requires a guide of a spell. Lets the user to instantly master that spell to use as long as this super ability is active. Once the super ability fades, the user will forget how the spell works. The learned spells from one session of the super ability in use DOES NOT carry over to the next.

Flow Recollection - restores ones' mana/energy at half of their capacity, rounded up. Has a cooldown.

Day 10: Mechanical

So... yes, the Technician ability is supposed to be a Kamen Rider tribute of sorts? This is why it starts with Kirby posing like Kamen Rider Ichigo.

But wait... Robobot Armor is there too? You see, this guy has, in the words of another RP server, a 'repressed whimsy'. I can imagine Robobot quietly and discreetly copying the henshin sequence, at least before the transformation scene triggers. So uhm. Haha. Lol. Lmao. Of course, they do not want to admit they liked it too. To keep up a facade of a strong, no-nonsense defender. F•cking nerd.

This is just an illustration, really, so. Eh.

Day 11: OC/Fav Character

Have drawn Kirby a lot and Robobot Armor just the day before, I believe it is time for Bandee to get his due, too. I always thought that the reason waddle dees have cloths tied to their spear is to ease identification and just because it looks cool.

Apparently these are made of special material, but no one really had the guts to uncover the secrets of it.

Day 12: Clone/Copy

Just a showcase on how Kirby does copy ability scanning. The scanner's the goggles instead! What, you think the goggles do absolutely nothing? Lol nope!

Day 13: Spin-Off

...you can tell I had to rush this one... Hello ibispaint my old friend. All you have to know is that not all spin-offs are not canon in Technician Uprising - I have planned some to be properly canon with changes. So let this be public knowledge that Rainbow Curse IS canon in TU.
