so I’ve seen your au and I fell in love with it! I haven’t seen any one try to do a wild!Kirby so I decided to do a small little design that toys with that idea.

it was a struggle trying to figure out what kind of animal or animal-like enemy that fit Kirby but then I remembered that Kirby has an animal copy ability so I kinda based wild!kirby on it!

So here is “The ravenous beast themselves!”

I like to imagine that wild!kirby would have more than one form based on the other beasts but this is mainly their main form.

they help out the beasts who are in trouble and basically keep every beasts (other than the beast council) in line. (I just thought it would make sense due to Kirby’s strength and copy ability.)

I imagine that Kirby is still, Kirby when not on duty- (they Also have one big appetite.)

As for how Kirby got this way, since wild!kirby is based on animal Kirby I think during the whole “getting sucked into a vortex”, a bunch of Gaw Gaws got sucked in with a bunch of other past animal like enemies. Kirby lands near some Gaw gaws and swallows one, becoming animal Kirby. Unfortunately they were found by the beast council and was captured and brainwashed as a result.

the Gaw Gaws and other past animal enemies ended up joining the beast pack and I think that the Gaw Gaws will start acting like assistants in a way.

that’s all I thought about Wild!kirby! I haven’t thought about the mask but I’ll probably think of one when I think about Wild!kirby more. For now though, enjoy my little rambles!

I really like Animal Kirby as a concept! Too bad it only shows up a few spots in Squeak Squad, is only good at very slowly digging special spots of dirt, and appears nowhere else :'O Maybe I'm sentimental because Squeak Squad was my first Kirby game. Maybe they'll find a way to implement it in a game somehow again!

The twig in Kirby's fur and the Beast Pack faceprint are a nice touch :) I wonder if Gaw Gaws and Awoofies would get along?! They're like canine cousins in a sense! :P

But also I have no idea what force in the universe could possibly be powerful enough to brainwash Kirby. I'm not totally sure if there even is one in the Kirby universe. He doesn't get overpowered very often. Buuuuut in the fun scenario where that force is Fecto, I could see this! I wonder in this scenario... Well... whenever anything is on Kirby's opposing side and threatening the things he loves and protects, they tend to be spectacularly defeated, right?

...If there's ever a force strong enough to possess Kirby, the rest of our heroes are probably doomed. Or they're going to have to gather a lot of powerful beings to stop him.

Anyway, thanks again for sharing your art and ideas!! If you like this concept you should keep running with it and see where it goes! I mean, I think it's cool! Who knows, maybe it's the beginning of a cool story or a springboard into other ideas you may have <3 Keep having fun with it!

Lots of inspiration from animals I'd call "orbs with legs". For example: Jerboas, European Robins, etc etc. Keeps the round silhouette while also giving me reference to use!

Also inspiration from owls. Barn Owls in particular. Wanted to keep the face relatively bare with a very small mouth since in canon Dees don't have visible mouths at ALL. So I used the owl beak structure.

Ears are a remnant of when I originally wanted to make the Dees canine-esque to make a reference to their Forgotten Land counterparts (Awoofies). Now they're there to give the head the silhouette of a Waddle Dee with their arms up :)

Also kept King Dedede's design while making this (I wanted a young Dedede to look like a Waddle Dee), so overall Dees look like little theropod dinosaurs!

Dees are communal creatures that also raise their young in a group. So while it is possible for a Dee to have actual parents, the connection typically isn't one of a nuclear family structure. Dees place a lot of emphasis on chosen family, strong platonic bonds, and friendships! Bandee's friends are a mixture of all three to him :)

While Kirby has star-like markings, I wanted to give Bandee hearts! Because he is soooooo full of love

The bandana was a gift from the King. This is what sparked Bandee's fierce loyalty to the King. He makes sure to treat it very gently so it lasts as long as possible

Bandee uses his tail to give him the lift needed to fly and keep up with his friends! He trained very hard to be able to use it properly and not fall out of the sky. He is very proud of this feat and is willing to teach it to other Waddle Dees who ask!

Malice Born Out of Fear

Soo, as for why a Milotic and Carmine is here other this being a Pokemon AU and and before you all go telling me that’s Nemona’s Milotic, let me get ahead of you, it’s not.

It’s Meta Knight’s Milotic. When Pechakeen had chained him, courtesy of/with unknown help from Morgan, she (Pechakeen) targeted the parts of Meta that were insecure, and especially the parts that was the fear of another incident, Forgotten Land incident, since in the Magopon AU, Kirby and the Forgotten Land incident, replaces King Dedede’s second boss fight with Magolor/Ogerpon.

Dedede frees himself after being defeated by Kirby and Bandee. And this is where the AU deviates from canon. Upon returning to Waddle Dee Town without Elfilin, Meta Knight questions the trio on Elfilin’s whereabouts, and Kirby replies even though Bandee and Dedede didn’t want to explain what they saw “He… he was taken, poyo… by Magolor…”

And this guts Meta Knight. Since at this point in time, the two were already dating. KRTDL doesn’t happen in this AU because… what reason would Ogerpon want the Master Crown or power? So, yeah. Mags has a clean record here.

But back to the Mochi Desires AU, Morgan had basically spitballed facts on how he felt about Magolor/Ogerpon. And she targeted the fears of Magolor getting hurt. Meta refuses the deal that Morgan had offered him, sensing that there something more to her words. But Morgan did succeed in doing something.

Her words had hit their mark, pushed the knight to the edge to accept Pechakeen’s deal.

Now, to the drawing itself.

The confrontation at the Shining Pool/ Crystal Pool, whichever one you like to refer it to, is the first of many confrontations between Malice Meta Knight and the trio of Magolor/Ogerpon, Carmine, and Kieran.

Magolor is devastated. They never expected that Meta Knight would wound up to be controlled by the same being that had Nemona, Penny, and Arven (yes, they already encountered the Malice Trio).

Meta is much more naive, careless, yet brutal honesty and no sense of preserving the pride of the person that he taunts. No tact, basically. The attention seeking part of the sunflower’s symbolism, yes, Pechakeen forces him to have that one, comes into play with over the top dramatics whenever Magolor/Ogerpon or Kieran are around.

Meta Knight takes on a much more sunny personality, with hidden blades in his words about a person, and clear as day, it’s wrong. Meta Knight is much more of a blue gladiolus person, or puffball on this case, than a sunflower person.

Could you please tell us more about Leon and Carol's characterizations in the Light Novels that you know of? I'm super curious about their personalities since we don't get a ton to work off of in the Forgotten Land game itself! :)

OMG YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS MY BELOVEDS!!!!! okay so the only one with those two in it ive read myself is the samurai novel ofc, and even then ive only read half of that one, but i do know what happens in the fl novels. tho i wont recount too much from that due to the said, i havent properly read them thing. slight spoilers for samurai novel btw so ill stick this ramble under a cut

disclaimer first of all that since the samurai novel is an au, their personalities could be a bit different from the fl novels (dedede and mk are Veryy different for example), but for the most part i think they act just about exactly how youd expect them to!

leon is exceptionally kind and cares a lot about the rest of the beast pack, to the point of being overprotective at times. when elfilin brings back kirby and bandee to their home saying theyre friends leon just gives them an intense look and acts cold to them, not seeming to trust them. when dedede comes over later and accuses elfilin of being a criminal he gets absolutely FURIOUS, but calms down and apologizes after seeing that hes scaring dedede a little by doing so. he acts how youd expect a leader to too, with an aura of dignity and firm but understanding communications with the rest of the pack, and hes able to put aside his own feelings on things for the greater good.

carol in comparison bounces off of him really well i feel. shes more headstrong and emotionally driven and will huff and puff a little over leon's decisions if she doesnt necessarily agree with them, though she relents to those decisions in the end once leon explains his reasoning. but if its not leon making those decisions she doesnt agree with, watch out. just like the game, she takes position of leader when leons not around and when dedede+meta told her she couldnt go off to forgo dreams to save him she got outright aggressive LOL. shes pretty sharp minded and usually the first to speak her mind. also she shittalked dedede i just wanted to bring that up. we love a mean girl

again im only halfway through, but the beast pack as a whole play a surprisingly big role in the samurai novel. i rlly look forward to seeing more of them >:]]]
