Lips on Lips

Character: Kageyama Tobio × Fem Reader

Concept: Kageyama being the awkward babie that he is, has no idea how to kiss. Luckily, his girl's there to help him out (wholesome fluff!!)

A/N: So hiii,,, I finally took the plunge and decided to post my first fic here. Idk if anyone will actually read or like it, but I rly enjoyed writing this one 😅 so hope u will too

☆☆A mostly self-indulgent Haikyuu!! Fanfiction☆☆

The ringing of the school bell signifying the end of final period had always been a highlight for the students of Karasuno High. Excited chatters filled the hallways as students pooled out of their classrooms, eager to pursue after-school activities with some making a beeline towards the exits.

As soon as the bell rang, Kageyama would usually head straight to the gym for volleyball practice, racing occasionally with Hinata as the 'quick-attack' duo turned every mundane activity into an opportunity to best the other. However, with club activities cancelled for the day, Kageyama had but one destination.

Completely oblivious to the wistful stares he got from some of the female students, his attention was fixated on only one of them as she made her way out of the classroom, her expression brightening as soon as she set her eyes on him.

His girlfriend.

Him and Y/N had known each other since middle school. What had formerly been the latter's unrequited love had now blossomed into a romantic relationship, with Kageyama eventually finding himself enamored by her as they reached high school. A couple of weeks have passed since then and everything was going great, if he could say so himself. Despite his intimidating demeanor, Kageyama did his utmost best to keep her happy, however, given his track record of social interactions, he was initially convinced that he would jeopardize their relationship. But, with Y/N’s assurance to accept him for who he is, his worries eventually dissipated.

Kageyama allowed himself the most subtle of smiles as she made her way to where he stood, looking up at him with bright eyes that he had come to adore. Completely unaware of the stares the other students threw their way, the couple continued to gaze at each other. "Tobio! No practice today?" She asked as she smiled at him.

"No, the gym's being cleaned. So, I was wondering..." He trailed off, fidgeting ever so slightly. "Do you want to go and hang out somewhere?"

At that exact moment, Hinata joined the forming group of interlopers as he witnessed his intimidating partner and sworn rival interact fondly with his significant other. Pretty soon, Tanaka and Nishinoya came across the crowd, easily spotting their tangerine-haired teammate. "What's up, Shoyo?" Nishinoya inquired.

Nodding in acknowledgement at his senpais, Hinata gestured to the couple. "It seems like Kageyama's asking her out on a date."

Tanaka let out an exasperated sigh. "It's still amazing that THAT guy managed to get a girlfriend before we did."

Sympathizing with his teammate, Nishinoya placed his hand atop Tanaka's shoulder. "And it seems like it just made his popularity shoot up. How unfair the world we live in is."

Shifting their attention back to the couple, Y/N happily responded to Kageyama's invitation. "Sure! How about at my house? My parents are out working so we'd have the house to ourselves the entire afternoon."

At her rather bold suggestion, jaws dropped in disbelief and with Kageyama completely unaware of its implications, nonchalantly accepted her invitation. "Sounds great."

Gleefully responding to his concurrence, Y/N excused herself and headed to the restroom, paying no attention to the incredulous stares that followed her. As soon as she was out of earshot, Hinata and Nishinoya scrambled towards him.

"KAGEYAMAAA!" Yelling in chorus, the duo tackled him as Tanaka proceeded to disperse the crowd.

Kageyama steadied his footing at the sudden attack, shooting his teammates an irked expression. "What was that for?"

Tanaka soon joined the trio and placed his arm around Kageyama's shoulder. "I can't believe it. Our Kageyama's finally entering the ultimate stage of manhood."

Puzzled by the sentiment, Kageyama jumped in surprise as Nishinoya slapped his lower back, his expression donning that of a proud father. "While we still can't stomach the idea of you getting there first, we salute you, comrade."

"What are you all getting so worked up about?"

Hinata gave his partner a knowing look. "You're about to hang out in a very private place with someone you're in a relationship with, it's basically a perfect situation to do THAT."

It suddenly dawned on Kageyama, his eyes widening as he began to panic, the trio watching him in disbelief. "Seriously, Baka-yama?!" Hinata exclaimed. "We both may be volleyball idiots but I can't believe that I know about more stuff in that area than you."

"Dumbass, don't compare me with the likes of you!" He growled as he harshly pinched Hinata's cheeks. In a state of uncharacteristic panic, Kageyama began pacing back and forth. "W-what should I do? It's not my intention to do THAT, it's way too early!"

"Let this senpai give you some wisdom." Nishinoya slapped Kageyama's shoulder, stilling his movements. "Listen, nothing good will come out of overthinking matters. You both just started dating after all, just trust your gut and let things flow naturally."

"Nishinoya-san..." Kageyama trailed off in thought as he digested the advice his senpai gave him.

"Noya-san SO COOL!" Hinata and Tanaka fawned over him in admiration.

At that moment, Tsukishima and Yamaguchi passed by the group. Without ceasing his stride, Tsukishima let out a lengthy sigh. "Nishinoya-san, you say that but got no experience to back it up."

Something snapped in Nishinoya as the cold, hard, and undeniable truth was given to him straight. "Ha? The hell did you say? Tsukishima, you bastard!" Nishinoya attempted to lunge at him, however, the trio scrambled to hold the seething libero back. Yamaguchi waved sheepishly at his teammates as Tsukishima held up a peace sign with his fingers which only seemed to rile up Nishinoya more.

Just then, Y/N emerged from the restroom and took in the shenanigans unfolding before her, amused yet relieved at the thought of Kageyama finally finding people he could feel comfortable with. It was a stark difference from how he was back in middle school as his peers isolated the so-called "King". Despite his reputation, Y/N saw through Kageyama and witnessed a sensitive yet unwavering person beneath. It was what drew her to him in the first place.

Shaking her head at how sentimental she had gotten, she approached the group and cleared her throat to catch their attention. She had become accustomed to the rowdiness of the volleyball team, especially with the uproar they caused when Kageyama formally introduced her to them. "Hi Hinata, Nishinoya-senpai, and Tanaka-senpai. Mind if I steal Tobio away?"

"Y/N-chan!" Hinata greeted cheerfully, letting go of Nishinoya's arm to push Kageyama towards her. "Sure, he's all yours."

He stumbled a bit as Y/N held his arm to steady him, giggling at the dagger-like glare he shot his partner. "Since when were you on a first name basis with her, dumbass?"

"Well then, we're off!" She chimed and pulled Kageyama away before he made any attempt to lunge at Hinata, waving gleefully at his teammates. "See you around!"

Bowing slightly at his senpais and shooting one last threatening glare at Hinata, Kageyama let Y/N lead him to the exits. Looking back once more, his expression turned to that of disdain at the enthusiastic thumbs-up his teammates gave him.

Once the couple was out of earshot, Nishinoya let out a whistle. "Damn, she's got Kageyama wrapped around her finger, huh? He better treasure her 'cause a girl like that's a keeper."

Nodding in agreement, the three of them fondly watched the retreating couple, silently cheering their setter on for what's to come.

"Pardon the intrusion!" Kageyama rigidly yelled to no one in particular as Y/N ushered him into her empty home. Settling himself down on the living room sofa while she headed to the kitchen, Kageyama tightly clasped his hands on his lap, not daring to move a single muscle.

To say that he was nervous was an understatement. He never felt this much nervousness before, not even during official matches as it only exhilarated him. But then, having devoted most of his life to volleyball, the dynamics of dating was somewhat uncharted territory for him.

Calm down, calm down. You're both alone in her home, with nothing to disturb you. It's just like what that idiot said, it's the ideal set-up for THAT. Is Y/N even aware? She invited me here so does that mean she wants to do...THAT?! Since when has she been that straight forward? And is she expecting me to initiate something?

Wait, don't get too ahead, that may not be her intention and maybe it's just that Tanaka-san, Nishinoya-san, and Hinata's minds are in the gutter and I'm letting them get to me. But what if she really wants to go THERE? Shit...I don't know what to do! Maybe I should look it up and do some research while she's-

"Tobio," Y/N’s sudden voice roused him from his spiraling thoughts as he flinched in surprise, nearly toppling the contents of the tray in her hands. "Hey! Geez, why are you so jumpy?" Setting down the tray of snacks on the table, she sat down next to him, and - to Kageyama's relief - allotted a reasonable distance between them as he definitely didn't want her finding out that he was on the verge of losing it.

But then again, this was his girlfriend. With a seemingly uncanny ability to see through his stoic persona, she just simply knew how to read and handle him. "So you're nervous, huh?"

Kageyama's eyes widened as he felt himself starting to sweat. "N-no, I'm not," he stuttered, practically giving himself away.

Letting out a nervous chuckle herself, Y/N placed her hands atop her lap, her posture stiffening. "Uh...well to be honest, I invited you here not with the purest of intentions."

Kageyama felt himself freeze, his face burning at her revelation. He kept his gaze trained on hers as he mustered up the courage to say something, anything.

Shit, so she definitely wants to do THAT.

As Kageyama kept staring at her dubiously, Y/N eventually caught on to what has rendered him speechless. Reevaluating her words, it was her turn to become flustered as she realized that they were barreling towards a huge misunderstanding. "N-no! Not THAT impure! Geez, it's way too soon for that! Ugh, how do I say this..."

Kageyama couldn't help but audibly sigh in relief, feeling like a huge weight was lifted off of his shoulders. But if it's not about that, what's got her so bothered?

Keen on finding out the answer, he looked at her expectantly, watching as she fiddled with the hem of her skirt. Glancing momentarily at Kageyama, her cheeks burned as she forced herself to elaborate on her woes. "Well, it's just that we've been dating for a few weeks now and all we've done is hold hands."

As she fidgeted uncomfortably, Kageyama was intrigued as he prompted her to continue. "What do you mean?"

Okay Y/N, so far so good. This has been bothering you for some time now, just say it!

Tightening her grip on the hem of her skirt, she couldn't bring herself to look at Kageyama as she turned away, hiding her flustered expression from view. "I mean we haven't...k-kissed yet. So I was kind of overthinking lately that maybe...you didn't want to do that with me...?"

There! I finally said it, all that practice in front of the mirror seemed to pay off! But why isn't he saying anything?

As silence engulfed the room, Y/N subtly peered at Kageyama, taken aback at the aghast expression on his face. "Idiot! Why would you think that?"

"Hey!"

Sighing in defeat, Kageyama eventually felt his cheeks heating up once more as he turned away, hiding his face in his hands. He couldn't help but feel guilty since his girlfriend was compelled to harbor those thoughts...well...because of him. After pausing momentarily, it was his turn to shy away. "S-sorry. It's not you, I promise. I've never been in a relationship before so I have no idea how to...k-kiss. And, I was afraid that if I try to do it and I do it wrong...you might not like me anymore."

There! You finally said it, Tobio - albeit quite lamely.

At his unexpected confession, it was Y/N's turn to gape at him as she processed his words.

The hell? What the hell was that cuteness?!

Kageyama usually carried himself with confidence and a subtle tinge of superiority. Seeing this whole new side of him was pretty bad for her heart, as her pride also swelled at the thought that she was one of the few people able to witness this endearing side of him. "Awww, Tobio!" Y/N swooned, scooching closer as she gave him a sideways-hug. Kageyama jumped at the sudden contact as he looked down at his girlfriend, his cheeks seeming to grow even warmer. "That awkwardness of yours is what makes you so adorable!"

"A-adorable?!" He reiterated aghastly.

She put a little distance between them once more which allowed her eyes to met his. "Yeah, I said what I said. So what if you don't know how to kiss? That won't change my feelings for you. I told you, right? That I'll always like you."

It was still pretty amazing how much her words affected him as he felt his insecurities gradually crumble away. Unable to find the right words, Kageyama wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close instead, hoping that that simple gesture was more than enough to convey his feelings.

After a few moments of tranquil silence, Y/N pulled back from the hug and faced him, her cheeks donning a bright shade of pink. "Say, Tobio…w-would you like to try to kiss?"

Gulping audibly, Kageyama shifted to mirror her sitting position. "O-okay." Completely at a loss at what to do, he shut his eyes tightly. With lips subtly pursed, he awaited for the much-anticipated contact, but instead, Y/N's giggling caused his eyes to fly open. "Why are you laughing?!"

"You're too adorable! Geez what am I going to do with you?" She tried to say through her laughter, stopping as soon as she noticed the irked expression he threw her.

Now that's just unfair. He's even cuter!

Clearing her throat, Y/N decided to take matters into her own hands. She scooted closer to him and recounting on all the "research" she's done, she clasped both of his hands in hers. "Where do you want to touch me?" Letting out a shaky breath, she guided his hands towards her face. "Here?" Following suit, Kageyama then found his hands on either side of her waist in one smooth motion. "Or here?"

His hands were shaking pretty badly due to nervousness, and while he was sure she could notice, she didn't pay it any attention. "T-the face," he managed to reply, gently cradling her face in his hands as the space in-between them decreased.

His hands were huge and warm against her cheeks as she leaned into its warmth. Fixating her eyes on his, Y/N proceeded to instruct him. "Now, let's try moving our faces closer until our lips touch. And close your eyes, idiot!"

Both of their hearts were going haywire as the distance between them decreased. Y/N’s eyes have fluttered close and Kageyama followed suit, steeling himself as he awaited for contact. With their lips mere centimeters away, Kageyama felt his nose bump against hers and he drew back in a panic, blushing furiously as he did. "I-I'm sorry, I messed up!"

Ugh, I swear to God this cuteness of his will definitely be the death of me someday!

Refraining herself from giggling at his embarrassed state, Y/N took his hands and placed them once more on either side of her face. "Let's try again, and uh, let's move our heads in the opposite direction. I'll go left, you go right."

Unable to speak as the nerves began building up once more, he simply nodded, the atmosphere suddenly shifting as they locked gazes. Little by little, their faces drew closer and closer, and Kageyama took the opportunity to admire her features amid their current proximity. Her eyes were squeezed shut, her cheeks faintly tinted, and her lips parted slightly as they anticipated his. At that moment, he found her utterly captivating and his eyes fluttered close. With all the courage he could muster, he finally pressed his lips on hers.

The contact was subtle, featherlight, and only lasted a second, but it was more than enough to send their hearts into overdrive. He slowly drew back and found her staring at him with wide eyes, her breathing hitching as she finally came into terms with reality.

H-he actually did it...we kissed. We finally kissed. All those shoujo manga describing the thrill of the first kiss - it comes nothing close to actually experiencing it for yourself.

Mirroring her flustered state, Kageyama slightly increased the distance between them, his eyes darting away from hers. "H-how was that?"

Dropping his hands from her face, Y/N's fingers lightly grazed the spot where his lips met hers, recounting on the enthralling sensation. "My heart feels like it's about to explode."

"Same here," he mumbled, scratching the back of his neck sheepishly, still quite embarrassed.

"Uhm, can we do it a bit harder?" She requested in a voice so soft he almost didn't catch it. But he did hear, and his heart began racing uncontrollably as a result. Y/N sensed what she assumed was his apprehension and chuckled awkwardly, berating herself for being a bit too wanton. "Is that a weird thing to ask?"

"It's not." Kageyama's reply was a bit too immediate in an attempt to reassure her, but he once more found himself spiraling internally.

Letting out a sigh of relief and with every ounce of confidence she could muster, Y/N wrapped her arms around Kageyama's neck and pulled him towards her, their faces in such close proximity. Too surprised to respond, he simply stared back at her, his hands naturally finding their way around her waist. Her breath tickled his lips, whispering ever so slightly against them. "Follow my lead."

Their lips met once again, but it was different from the one they shared earlier. With an increase in pressure, he could feel just how soft her lips were, and pretty soon, he felt them moving against his. His heart literally close to bursting, he recalled the advice Nishinoya shared with him.

Trust my gut, huh?

Finally letting go of all of his inhibitions, he allowed his lips to move against hers naturally, his eyes fluttering shut as he reveled in the sensations. It was unbelievably sweet yet exhilarating at the same time, both of them losing themselves into the kiss. Neither wanted the moment to end but Y/N was the first to pull away as she panted slightly. Eyes fluttering open, they both smiled sheepishly, their foreheads pressing against each other. "So, how was it?"

"Better, I liked the second one better," Kageyama stated, no longer feeling as much embarrassed as he did earlier. "Where did you learn to do that?"

At his inquiry, Y/N drew back slightly and dropped her gaze, fidgeting once more. "Uh...research?" Her vague answer seemed a bit suspicious, and with Kageyama shooting her an inquisitive look, she groaned and buried her face in a pillow. "Fine! I read a lot of shoujo manga, okay? You happy?!"

"Pfftt," Kageyama couldn't help but sputter out and pretty soon, he was laughing uncontrollably as he clutched his stomach.

Too annoyed by his mirth to swoon over how adorable Kageyama was when he laughed like this, she grabbed the pillow and began hitting him. "So what of it?! The kiss turned out fine didn't it? Stupid Tobio! Idiot! Idiot!" All of a sudden, Kageyama stilled her movements as he leaned over and pecked her lips, both of them blushing profusely at the sudden gesture.

"Hey Y/N, I'd like it if maybe we practice some more?"

"You sneaky little..." Still slightly reeling from his surprise attack, Y/N looked away in embarrassment. "I'd have no problems with that...I guess."

And with that, the rest of their afternoon was filled with banter, laughs, and with a few stolen kisses here and there.

Milk Bread

Summary: You are the older sister of Tobio Kageyama, who happens to study at Aoba Johsai Highschool. You and your brother get along well with the shared love for volleyball, but what happens when his arch enemy is your boyfriend.

The next few days went on as usual, you usually hung out with Ichika and Akari or if they weren't around it would be with Tooru and Iwaizumi before classes started as well as breaks. After classes, it was straight to training for both the Volleyball clubs.

Tooru would continue giving you small gifts in the morning whether it be flowers, Milk Bread, or chocolates. You would return your appreciation as kisses on his face and a promise to hang out at the cafe where the Milk Bread he loved was made. But you're favorite way to hang out was after both the volleyball clubs were finished and you would play volleyball

"(Y/N)-chan would you like to practice spiking? I'll set for you" Ichika was a talented setter and more often than not her sets make your spikes better and effective. "How could I refuse?" Akari grabbed a ball from the basket and would throw it just above Ichika, Akari was done with her drills so she opted to help the two of you out. "Show us what spells you got under your sleeves" Akari said just as Ichika sets the ball but something felt off about but by the looks of it Ichika meant to set it like that so even though you're timing was a bit early you made a way to spike the ball just as well.

"Eh, what was that for Ichika-chan?"

"Just wanted to see if you still got it" You playfully pouted at her as she pats your back and tells you that you should do more spikes and set. After several spikes and the usual drills, you got tired and decided to call it a day. As you sat down at the bench you heard the gym door open as you see Tooru and Iwaizumi walk in, some of the 1st years flushed as they saw Tooru who already changed out of his Volleyball outfit.

"Tooru, what are you doing here? don't you still have your club?"

"Oh about that" He shows his ankle which was wrapped in a bandage, you also noticed that there was a slight limp in the way he walked to the bench you were on. "I kind of pulled a muscle around my ankle while practicing but it's nothing serious It'll take just a few days to heal" He takes a seat beside you. "He was being reckless (Y/N)-chan" Iwaizumi stated as he stood beside Tooru with his hands in his pockets.

"Baka! What have I told you about taking care of yourself! Look what happens when you ignore what I tell you!-"

The female volleyball team giggled at how the men's volleyball team captain is being lectured by one of their own. You were standing up as you look Tooru who was sat down on the bench pouting at you, even Iwaizumi snickered at the sight before him. Since Tooru had pulled a muscle the coach asked him to help Oikawa to the clinic but when they came back the club was dismissed early.

"Alright everyone gather around so I can say a few reminders and pointers about the club," The coach said as the rest of the team gather around him. You walked towards the Team's coach but not before throwing a quick glare at Tooru who immediately froze upon eye contact.

"Alright everyone so we managed to set a practice match next week on Tuesday, they aren't a very known team but a match is a match. I expect everyone to practice as usual ok?" The team agreed and was dismissed for the day, Tooru stood up with a slight wince as you walk towards him and Iwaizumi. "I'll just change out of my gym clothes you guys can wait for me at the school gates" They nodded as Tooru held on Iwaizumi's shoulder for slight help in walking.

"Oh and Tooru" He turned around as you pulled him down by the sides of his face and softly kissed his forehead before resting your forehead against his. "Be careful next time, Ok?" He smiled as he looked into your eyes and kissed your forehead before straightening back up. "I will for you cutie" He walks away with Iwaizumi as Ichika and Akari giggles.

"Hehe you do love him~" Ichika and Akari tease you as you scoff at them. "Get off my back you two" The three of you go and get changed along with the rest of the team.

As the whole team left the gym you said your goodbyes to all of them and hugged Ichika and Akari. You walked to the entrance as you saw Matsukawa wave at you with Tooru and Iwaizumi, you approached them and immediately hooked your arm's around Tooru's arm. "Hi guys how was your training? well aside from your captain getting injured" You slightly slapped his arm as he lets out a small 'ow'.

"Well the usual drills and all those stuff we've been training the 1st years as well" Matsukawa, Iwaizumi, and Tooru filled you in on the new things that happened at their club as you also filled them in on yours.

At some point, you pulled out your phone then scrolled through your contacts to see the messages from your mom when Tooru saw his name on your phone. "Eh? (Y/N)-chan why is my name 'Milk Bread Slave' it should be 'My King' or 'Babe' with a heart!" He quickly snatches your phone from your hands as he goes to his number. "Tooru! give me my phone back!" You tried to reach for it but he holds it up so you couldn't take it back. "There I changed it to something better" He gave you your phone back but instead of his name being 'Milk Bread Slave' it turned into 'My love' with a heart on the end. "If you change it I won't buy you Milk Bread for a month" You pouted at him as you shoved your phone back to your bag. "Fine"

Soon you needed to separate ways with the other three guys when the path to your house was in the opposite direction.

"You guys make sure your lousy captain over there gets home safe and doesn't get another injury" You stick your tongue out at Tooru as he only kisses your forehead. "I'll be ok (Y/N) chan, I should be the one telling you to get home safe. Remember to get straight home and text me when you get there safely"

"I will" You waved them goodbye as you ride your bike to the way of your house as you enjoy the sight of the nearly setting sun.

When you got home the food was already ready and everyone was already at the table. "Onēsan, you're late, where have you been?" You placed down your bag on the couch as you greeted your parents and hugged Tobio. "Gomen, I guess I got caught up talking with my friends" It was a white lie since you did get caught up with your friends but one, in particular, made you stay with them more than usual.

Before you sat down for dinner you quickly texted Tooru to tell him that you got home safe.

"Who is that?" you jumped at the voice of Tobio who was looking at your phone. "J-just a friend don't worry about it" you quickly hid your phone away before sitting down at the table.

"Do you wanna practice volleyball after we eat"

"Yeah sure anything for my favorite little brother"

"I'm your only brother"

"Shh, take it as a compliment"

After you ate, you and Tobio went to the small space outside your house to practice playing volleyball. "What's the update on the Hinata guy who hit's your sets" Every day the two of you would share about the members of your volleyball teams, you as wing spiker would talk about your setter and how you would practice with your libero for your spikes. "He's good, we always get paired up for spikes and we managed to score a practice match with-"

"Hey, you two! get back inside and go to sleep! it's already late"

~~~ The next day Tooru had messaged you just after you woke up and did your daily stretches.

Needless to say, you couldn't wait for the weekends.

(Y/n)'s P.O.V

"Ow!" I got hit by a ball as I was walking to Aki's house to play, and fell on my bum witch really hurt.

"Are you alright? I'm sorry!!"

I turned around to see who hit me but I couldn't really see due to the tears in my eyes. "Please don't cry, I-I didn't mean to!!" After I heard this I immediately started crying.

I hugged her and yelled repeating those words until Iwaizumi quickly took her from me, " don't. you. dare. touch. her." He gave me a glare, but it was one of the most terrifying glares ever. "(Y/n) your forehead is red from the hit, are you sure your okay?" he looked down at her face, and tries to touch her face, "OWW, NII-CHAN!!" "oh, Iwa-chan I have a icepack in my bag, let me go get it."

I ran as fast as I could to go get it. once I got to my bag I couldn't find the Icepack. "Oikawa what are you doing, practice isn't over yet? where is Iwaizumi?" I was rudely interrupted by Tobio "I'm looking for an Icepack." I was throwing everything around in my bag until I felt Tobio tap my shoulder " I have one but, why do you need it?" he asked I sighed and told him everything.

"I accidentally hit Iwa-chan's little sister and I'm getting her an icepack." explained quickly, "oh I'll just give it to her" he suggested " no, I hit her I should give it to her" I said but he quickly ran to go give it her "you little nosey 4 year old!!" I was about to get him until I noticed he stopped.

Kageyama's P.O.V

" Hey (y/n) Oikawa told me what happened, here you can have it" I handed her the icepack "Thanks Kageyama! COLD!!" as she held the icepack she told me it was cold, " oh sorry, I didn't think it was that cold!!" I picked it up and put it on her forehead.

"HEY STOP!!" I turned to see an out of breath Oikawa "what?" I asked "that was for me!" he yelled pointing to himself "well, you should've brought an icepack" "LOOK- (Y/n)-chan where's your brother?" "He went back to practice" she answered, " oh okay, (y/n)-chan do you want me to walk you back home?" He asked "sure!" she yelled.

I never really had feelings for (y/n) sure she was cute, but she was just a friend.

"Okay, but Oikawa don't we have to go back to Volleyball?" I asked as I handed the icepack back to (Y/n) "Oh, yea- No I think (Y/n)-chan's safety is more important" "oh okay" I answered "Okay, Oikawa let's go now before it gets dark." and with that they were on their way to her house.

(Y/n)'s P.O.V

I was glad Oikawa came with me to go back home, it was really scary even if it wasn't that dark. "(Y/n)-chan are you scared, y-you can h-h-hold my h-hand, IF YOU WANT!!" he yelled out the last part with a really red face, maybe he was just tired. "Okay! thank you, I am really scared."

"Are you friends with Kageyama?" I asked

"Not really" he answered as he scratched his chin

"why not?"

"he's always following me and asking questions" He answered

"oh" I felt like I was doing the same, and I was, I felt bad I slowly let tears escape from my eyes.

"O-o-oikawa a-am I d-doing the same? Do you not wanna be friends? Am I annoying?" I looked him in the eyes he stared at me and his eyes widen.

"what? HUH, NO!! I'M SORRY I- YOU- look (Y/n) your not bothering me I'm sorry" Oikawa brought me in his arms and hugged me

"it's okay, are you sure I'm not annoying?" I asked him, he gave me a big smile and nodded

"Yup! you're not annoying at all! I really like you" he smiled and gave me a thumbs up.

"now come on we're going to be late and your mom's going to get worried" he pulled my hand and we started walking hand in hand.

Breathing

a/n: back by popular demand, i will forewarn you. this might make you cry, either from feelings or disappointment. you’ll know in the end

oikawa tooru x reader

(technically part 2 of that oikawa angst but more like part 1.5)

There was one memory.

A memory from the past shared between two children who were filled with nothing but purity and innocence from the misgivings of the world.

A simple blurb from the past.

But it was then that the childish promise was made that was never met.

And it hurt.

...

She was only 10 when it happened.

He already turned 11, but just a few weeks ago.

They sat together in her room as they looked through the picture book of her parents and their past. Of course, she cringed at every picture because these were the same people who had no shame in showing their love through kisses at the front door for the whole world to see. Yet, she also valued the love that was clear-even in the pictures-because they were the evidence for her hope of love.

Tooru giggled as he pointed at the picture of the baby version of her being carried in the arms of her mother while her father stood behind the two, proudly smiling a grin so big that it made his eyes crinkle.

“You were such a flabby baby, y/n-chan!” You looked up from another picture and glared at him before kicking him with your foot.

“So mean, Tooru!”

He looked offended and gently took the picture off of the plastic slot to prove his point of the wrinkly little bean.

“Look! You had wrinkles right here and you weren’t even a day old yet!” He laughed and you couldn’t help but snatch it from his grasp, thinking that his words were true and that you were indeed a fat baby.

You held up the picture to the light to see the wrinkles more clearly but you saw faint lines on the picture.

There was something written in the back.

You turned it over and Tooru saw you flip the photograph so he scooted over next to you to see what exactly was written.

‘Breathing the same air, in the same space, was enough reason to fall in love.’

You tilted your head in confusion and had to re-read through the sentence again to try and understand what it exactly meant. But you were still confused.

Tooru had the same problem and even took the picture so he could clearly see what was being written and not just a misunderstanding of the different characters placed together.

“Fall in love?” you questioned out loud, furrowing your eyebrows together.

He shrugged, “I don’t know. I mean, I’ve never been in love before.”

“Mommy tells me that she fell in love with Papa because he cooked good tonkatsu. Is that what they meant?”

“Baka,” he playfully nudged. “I think it means your father or mother fell in love with you the moment you took your first breath.”

You looked at Tooru with an impressed look in your eyes. “Oooo, look at you, Tooru-kun! Since when did you get so smart?!”

He gave you an unamused smile before hitting your legs, which were laid across his lap. “I’m literate. And I have brain cells. Don’t think you can relate.”

You pouted then crossed your arms. “What about you, Tooru-kun? Did you fall in love with me when we met?”

He paused, thinking about it. “Hm, I don’t know. I don’t remember our first meeting since we were just babies so I can’t answer your question.”

“What about now?” You quietly asked. “We’re breathing the same air in the same space of my room. It mentioned that this would be the perfect situation and enough reason to fall in love. So, what about now, Tooru-kun? Did you fall in love with me now?”

At first, he was quiet. He didn’t exactly know what to say because he’s never felt the feeling of falling in love. Heck, he doesn’t even know what falling in love is!

But watching your figure beside him, the sun behind you creating some sort of angel-like glow emitting from you, and the strands of your silky hair that fell out from your previous nap. It was enough to make his heart race, he knew that.

So, was it enough to make him fall in love?

Instead, he answered you with a question.

“Do you want me to fall in love with you?”

You merely shrugged, seemingly oblivious to his rapidly blushing face and the weight of those words as you continued to look at the photograph.

“I mean, it sounds scary to fall in love, you know? If it has ‘fall’ in it, it would hurt, right? I’ve fallen before but I was never able to get up without someone to help me so I don’t want to just fall in love with anyone. Mommy already fell in love with Papa so he won’t be there to catch me or to help me up. And you’re the only other person I trust to help me so…. Yes, I want you to fall in love with me so I can also fall in love with you. That way, we can trust to help each other. So fall in love with me forever, okay? I’ll do the same for you. I promise.”

It sounded good enough to the young, innocent Tooru so he agreed, promising that he will fall in love with you and just you.

Unfortunately, not only was he not able to help you up or catch you at the bottom, but he was the person who pushed you in the first place.

Sugawara placed a hand on your shoulder for support after he felt the intense air between you and this chocolate-haired boy. There were no words exchanged but the both of you looked each other up and down, your eyes lingering quickly on that brace on his knee. The restraint to keep the scoff in was almost unbearable but you didn’t care anymore. You wordlessly followed Sugawara back to the team and refused to look back because you were afraid of seeing that look in his eyes.

They were sad, lonely.

Kageyama rushed to help you and Sugawara with the basket of water bottles before running off to scold Hinata for taking forever in the bathroom, probably puking his guts out. You inspected the gym and quickly found old teammates, who were your past friends. These mentioned friends, Iwaizumi, Kunimi, and Kindaichi, were shocked to see you standing at their home turf and even having to do anything with volleyball.

“y/n-senpai!” Kindaichi yelled and you smiled from the sidelines before walking across to meet his run to give you a hug. He was the same tall, first year with his hugs that squeezed you tightly. You were released but you turned to Kunimi, who bashfully smiled before walking over to give you an equally tight hug.

“It’s so good to see my boys,” you hummed while ruffling their hair with great difficulty. God, they were about your height when you first met but now, they towered over your form.

“Why didn’t you ever visit us, senpai?” Kindaichi whined but you gripped his ear.

“You’re glad I didn’t visit since I heard you both planned a revolt against Tobio last year.” They guiltily looked down as if they were being scolded but you knew how Tobio was acting. He told you himself, expressing the regret with the way he treated them, and you were disappointed, sure, but both boys were in fault for this.

“We had to do something, senpai,” Kunimi quietly reasoned.

“I know you did. We can talk about that later. But you’re playing right now and you’re in different teams so do your best in this match!” You raised an encouraging fist and they both grinned.

“I’ll win this for you, senpai!” Kindaichi, the ever energetic boy, swore and ran to Iwaizumi, who ruffled his hair.

“You too, Kunimi-kun. Do your best, okay? No slacking off,” you scolded lightly with a smile. He playfully rolled his eyes.

“Okay, mom.”

When you went back to the Karasuno side, they questioned you as to how you knew them but once you explained your past in their old middle school with Tobio, they settled down, only telling you that they weren’t worried because you were their manager now.

By now, you’ve taken responsibility for the water bottles of the boys so you’ve gone back to the same place to refill them with cold water. Only to get lost.

“I swear it was right here. What the hell?” you mumbled repeatedly, getting increasingly uncomfortable with the heavy container.

As you ventured down a hallway, you were so sure you got yourself more lost but you didn’t care because you just wanted to get water. There was a serious lack of water fountains in this school making you wonder how these children were being hydrated.

You hummed a song to make yourself feel at least a bit better from being lost but as you turned a corner, you froze.

There he was, sitting on the floor and leaning against the wall with his eyes tightly shut. One would think he was sleeping but you knew he was far from it.

Tooru liked to close his eyes so he wouldn’t have any distractions as he concentrates on the techniques and moves he’d use against a team. This time it was no different so you thought you could easily walk past him without even making your presence known.

But this was Oikawa Tooru.

He was one of the sharpest and most attentive people you knew but when he opened his eyes to peak at your form in front of him, you stopped, eyes wide as if you were just caught doing something bad.

“Hi,” he whispered. You gulped before nodding his way and turning to continue walking.

“I miss your voice, y/n.” His voice was hoarse, hurt and pained, causing you to instinctively stop.

You shut your eyes in annoyance because after all these years, he still managed to control your instincts more than you yourself.

“I know…. God, I know I must not be fair right now since it was my fault for yelling at you and hurting you. But please, just say something to me, anything. Because I don’t want the last time I heard your voice to be your goodbye.”

You remained turned away so you couldn’t see the tears that were welling up in his eyes but you thought that this could be the last thing you could do for him.

“Breathing the same air, in the same space, is not enough reason to fall in love.”

Then you walked away.

He sniffled, crying for both his knee and his lost love.

His wish was never granted.

The last time he hears your voice is your final goodbye.

Soul Searching Comments-- Part 1

W/ Iwazumi Hajime

--Soulmate AU where each day a random sentence that the person has/would say shows up on the mate’s body.

[Your PV]

“Do you think you’re fighting by yourself?!” You read from your wrist out loud.

It had become your practiced ritual every day since you learned what the writing on your skin was. You would follow your wake-up routine and then check your body for the new statement of the day. Sometimes they were hilarious, sometimes sad, and sometimes worry-ing. But this time, you were more astonished. Lowkey wondering what could make your soulmate need to scream this out at someone.

“What was that (F/N)?” Your friend drowsily called from the other room.

You shook away the feelings currently flowing through your brain and went back to sit on the edge of their bed. “Oh nothing, just reading out the new comment. Have you found yours yet?”

You friend just sighed. She flew the comforter off her body and over your head and jumped up to run to the bathroom before you could retaliate. “Ah! Yes! It’s on my back today!” She exclaimed happily.

“And what does it say prey tell?” You asked, knowing she would tell you either way.

Opening the door, you saw she had started brushing her teeth and just held her shirt up for you to read yourself. You read out, “Could you teach me how to serve? Um…well…yea I don’t know what to say to that luv. Sorry.”

Your friend shrugged and closed the door behind herself, finishing her own wakeup routine.

[Months later]

“(Y/N)! (Y/N)! (Y/N)!” you heard being called from across the large gymnasium.

Turning towards the voice you saw your friend racing towards you and sent her a smile. “(B/F/N). What’s up?”

“I found him! My soulmate. He isn’t anything like we thought he would be, just a bit socially awkward since he is so much younger!” She yelped excitedly jumping up and down while latching her hands onto your own.

Her energy being contagious forced your own expression to grow into a wide grin that overtook your whole face, “Wow! I’m excited for you! Where is he?” You asked, looking over her shoulder to see if you could find a love-sick looking first or second year.

Kitagawa Daichi Junior high was a big school, so it made sense you would not have know everyone not in your grade, but to find out that your best friend’s soulmate was in your school was just to unreal, and you needed to see it for yourself.

“Oh yea, well… He actually doesn’t know yet.” She said sheepishly.

Raising your eyebrows at her questionably, she understood your unspoken questions and went on to explain.

“So, my comment today was something very very specific, right? And during the closing ceremony I overheard the volleyball team arguing and went to check it out. I mean how can I pass up getting the scoop on that juice, huh? Anyway! So, I’m watching pretty-boy yell at that first-year prodigy and then.” She smiles before continuing, “And then! The freaking prodigy said the line! And I’m freaking out so I run away to think if what I heard was actually what was written, but while I’m running away, by ankle starts burning which just solidifies that the one I heard that line from is in fact my soulmate.” She clasped her hands on your shoulders as her eyes bore into your own, “And then I rushed here to tell you.”

You put your hands over hers and slowly removed them from your shoulders, eyes searching her face for any indication that she was joking, or pretending, or you did not know, but something that indicated she didn’t actually run away after finding her soulmate. When you found none, you pinched her upper arm. “You idiot! Why didn’t you say anything to him? We are going on holiday now! And then you and I will go to a different school than him! What’s wrong with you!”

Her eyes bulged and you face-palmed at how she was just now realizing her mistake. “I gotta go find him! Bye, (Y/N)! Thanks for the advice!”

And she was gone.

[Years later]

“”Guys that girls squeal over piss me off even more.” You read out loud to your friend Kiyoko on the bus.

The statement being presented on your calf having caught her attention when you were both climbing aboard for the trip to the tournament.

She smiled sweetly at you, “It seems your soulmate has some very strong opinions. That should be good. Maybe he can actually handle you then.”

You laughed before lightly pushing at her shoulder, “Maybe, but if I don’t ever meet him, it won’t ever matter. Will it?”

Both of you sighed and looked out the window, individually thinking about how you hoped your soulmate meetings would go when they finally happened.

Once at the tournament gym, your team quickly found its way to its court.

Soon enough it was time to face their old rivals from Seijo.

During the match you were standing with the coach yelling at the boys of Karasuno for their stupid plays as well as trying to yell encouraging tid-bits of information to help them succeed.

[After graduating university]

Kiyoko, (B/F/N), and you were waiting for your ordered car to arrive and take you to the next location for Kiyoko’s birthday scavenger hunt.

After she had met her soulmate, they had planned extravagant activities for her for every holiday. Always either leaving room for her friends to join, or making the time be set aside for her and her friends. It made you like them even more.

While thinking about this, you felt something slap you in the face. Having a mild panic attack and karate chopping the air around you, it took longer than should have been necessary to realize it had just been a falling leaf.

Your friends laughed at you and you decided to continue your antics, turning to look up at the tree above-head. Waggling a finger at it and shouting, “You wanna go bro? I will cut and burn you to ash.”

The wind blew through it again, and another leaf fell in your direction. You playfully jumped out of the way and stutteringly spoke out, “Okay okay okay, Mr. Tree. I’m sorry I will not burn you. But seriously I didn’t do anything to deserve being hit like that.”

Your friends laughed at your craziness, until (B/F/N) called that the car pulling up was your ride. Climbing in, they were still laughing, and you couldn’t help but beam that you were able to make Kiyoko’s day that much better.

“Oh!” She suddenly exclaimed, “(Y/N)! You never said what your random comment of the day was! Please tell us?”

You rolled your eyes, “Fine fine. Let’s see. You moved your hair off your neck so they could read it out for themselves.”

“It’s just every time you open your mouth, you seem to get even more annoying.” They both read aloud.

Seeing the struggle in their expressions in a positive thing to say about this seemingly rude statement, you laughed their worry away. “I know, I know. I can’t wait to ask them about it all though. One day.”

(B/F/N) laughed a bit before asking what you meant.

Then Kiyoko explained how you had started a journal writing down all the strange comments to ask them about when you would finally meet.

They both laughed harder at this, and you just smiled silently as you wondered when that would finally be.

[Iwa’s PV]

He stood facing his back to the mirror in astonishment. Sorry, being clearly written on his lower back. “Sorry? Sorry is all this has to say?!” He screamed in disbelief.

Wondering how he was supposed to find his supposed other half when apparently his side of the bargin was only meant to get all these super unhelpful words and phrases.

“How many people say sorry in a day! This is the worst!” He yelled, unknowingly scaring the first years who had just entered the locker room.

They promptly exited and went to find the one who was known to back handedly control the strongest player on the Kitagawa team.

“Iwa-chan~~” Oikawa sang while entering the locker room. “Some little birdies came crying to me about how angry the big bad ace was. Screaming in the locker room, tsk tsk Iwa-chan. Tsk tsk.”

“Shut up Baka-awa. I’m not in the mood,” The olive-green-eyed male lamented, pulling his jersey over his broad shoulders.

Oikawa pouted, “So mean, Iwa-chan. Your soulmate will never want to meet you if you’re so mean to your friends~” Singing out the last taunt, Oikawa quickly ran back out of the locker space before the ace could catch and pummel him into a goop.

[Months later]

At the end of closing ceremonies, Oikawa had led Iwazumi towards the ole volleyball locker rooms, wanting to give the new captain some “helpful” advice.

Unfortunately, the pair of graduating males ran into the one and only Kageyama Tobio.

“Oikawa-sempai, Iwazumi-senpai. I wish you luck in your high school careers.” The boy bowed, and Iwazumi was grateful that’s all he said.

He thanked the blue haired boy and moved to go around him but was stopped by the glint in Oikawa’s eyes.

Whispering a warning, “Oikawa…don’t” The ace realized he was too late.

“Don’t sit here and tell us what to do. You are nothing. You will never be anything. You are just some prodigy who doesn’t know anything about what it takes to put in hard work for something you love as much as Iwa-chan and I do. So just keep your luck to yourself. You will need it.” He pulled his eye down and stuck out his tongue before continuing his verbal rampage.

Eventually he ended his onslaught of a speech, much to Iwazumi’s welcomed relief, but then continued by asking if Kageyama had anything more to say.

“I was just thinking it would be cool if you could finally beet Ushijima Wakatoshi in high school, since you couldn’t here.”

Iwa knew the boy was just stupid. He knew the kid didn’t mean it the way the Oikawa would take it.

But Iwazumi was also distracted by a loud gasp and quickly retreating steps before he could explain this to his best friend. Instead he just grabbed the light-brunette by the back collar of his shirt and dragged him away as quickly as he could.

[Years later]

“Geesh Baka-awa. Can’t you control your fans at all. You’d think since they live for your every word and action, they’d listen to you at least a little bit.”

The captain just smiled to the group of girls screaming for him from the bleachers, “Ah Iwa-chan. Its okay if you’re jealous. I’m sure they could cheer for you without my asking them to.”

He received a punch to the gut for that one, before Iwazumi went to finish warming up now that the team captain had been located…again.

During the game he had let himself get distracted by the girl screaming at the Karasuno team. He couldn’t make her words when she gave hints on how they could adjust their playing to match Seijo, but he could hear her clear as day when she was tearing them down.

“Pick up your damn feet and move those asses or you are doing nothings but drills for practice until the next scrimmage!” She shouted before throwing her clipboard to the floor.

The quiet manager sitting besides the seat she had stood in front of, quickly picked it up before the shouting one could step on it as she started yelling at Kageyama specifically. About how he wasn’t the only player on the court and to trust his teammates if he wanted to stay on it.

This made Iwazumi smirk before refocusing on the game in front of him. She’d be an interesting manager to keep an eye on though.

[After graduating university]

Mattsun had sent his soulmate on a scavenger hunt for her birthday activity. Iwazumi was responsible for the last item on the list and had holed up in his apartment for the afternoon.

Waiting for the small group of females to come in for the item, so he could then take them to the surprise party the Mattsun had also planned for them. He had just reread the comment that had appeared on his ankle that morning, laughing about how ridiculous it seemed. An apology to a Mr. Tree. At least it was original, as opposed to his former ones.

Thinking about his own lack of knowing who his soulmate was, reminded him all over about Mattsun and Kiyoko. How they’d found each other. And how hard Mattsun had fallen.

Man that boy was head over heels in love with Kiyoko and he was not afraid to admit it, or share it with the world. And dammit, if Iwa and Oikawa couldn’t get him to say those three words to her tonight, how could they call themselves his best friends.

Knocking at his apartment door caused the male to stand up and shake his head out of his inner thoughts.

He opened it to see Kiyoko, the girl that he’d learned was Kageyama’s soulmate, (B/F/N), and the feisty manager from Karasuno high school. He smiled at the girls and welcomed them in.

“Hello, Iwazumi-kun.” Kiyoko greeted shyly.

(B/F/N) just shook his hand as she passed.

He watched as the third-party member entered, but didn’t say anything, and didn’t move too far from the entry way either. And, found himself wishing he had the fore thought to ask Mattsun who to expect so he could start a conversation with her.

But that thought to was cut short as Kiyoko asked if she had the last item, they needed to complete their scavenger hunt.

He laughed before leading her to his living room and giving her an envelope. “It’s just Mattsun wanted to surprise you, ya know?”

The girl opened the envelope and her eyes bulged before she answered, “He is so…I cannot accept this. No!” She said a bit more forcefully.

(B/F/N) came over to look at what she’d received and was soon in a fit of joyous hysterics. “Oh, this is golden. Boy sends us on a scavenger hut to get us out of the way, and then ends it with a card to go on a shopping spree with? Damn girl, your boy is so totally whipped. What did you do to him?!” Kiyoko’s face went red with embarrassment and the other two girls laughed at her expense.

“Now, (B/F/N). be nice. It is her birthday after all.” Iwazumi still didn’t know your name but he knew he’d remembered your voice. And it was still as hypnotizing as it had been years ago. “Kiyoko, what does the note say?”

The birthday girl, huffed around her emotions, trying to calm down so she could carefully read what was written in the letter provided with the card. “My dear…um yes anyway…I hope your day with your friends has been exciting in as many ways possible. While I’m sad I couldn’t spend the day with you, I…okay skipping this part since (B/F/N) will just tease me, um let us see…oh here we go…This card is for (B/F/N), (Y/N) and you to buy some ballroom styled dresses, along with a couple of fancy masks. Today and tonight might be about you…*cough cough*” While she was coughing, Iwa looked over her shoulder and saw he had written in some sugary-sweet nicknames. She continued after getting her heart back in order, “but other holidays must unfortunately be shared with all. So, I wanted to help you buy your costumes for the annual masquerade ball. I will see you at the party tonight, but please go get your outfits on my dime before getting ready and showing up tonight.”

When she finished reading, she looked at all three of the pair of eyes on her, before exploding into a blush again. “I cannot just take his money! No.”

Iwazumi smiled slightly to himself, happy he finally has your name for his inner thoughts to run wild with.

“Well, I say we can.”(B/F/N) started, before adding, “He literally told us to. DO you want to ignore his wishes?”

You laughed slightly before agreeing with (B/F/N).

Kiyoko just huffed, “Of course the crazy girl who argued with a tree would take sides with the idiot who ran away from her soulmate until she was told she shouldn’t have.”

Both girls yelled a “hey!” back in shock.

“Well ladies,” Iwazumi spoke with a smile, “as much as I would love to see how this all plays out first hand, I too must get ready for your party Kiyoko, so I must ask that you argue about the fact that you will end up follow instruction while on your way to do so.” He ushered the three out the front door, before calling a final goodbye, “And maybe, don’t argue with any more trees along the way.”

He rushed himself to his restroom as soon as he latched the door shut behind them, splashing cold water on his face to calm his racing heart. What was going on with him to be acting so strangely?? He couldn’t figure it out.

Okay, here is part 1. Since I am on mobile, it stopped me at the 250 text blocks. Part 2 will be up shortly. And then any questions/comments/concerns/ideas are welcome as always.

Right as he thought he could get ready in peace after calming down, Oikawa called whining about something or another. Iwa decided to tease him a bit to get out of his own head and the insult about his voice had the intended affect.

Hajime was able to get ready at the speed of light after that.

Not training

The Inter Hight are over. Or at least, for the Karasuno.

“We will spend the night here, and in the early morning we will leave”, coach Ukai had said. None had the desire or the strength to protest, so they all went to their respective rooms. To think, not to sleep, to cry...

Less Kageyama. He expresses his frustrations in a less conciliatory way. So despite he just losing the most important game of his life, he returned to train to the court. He slipped away from the watchmen as he could. It was not difficult. No one expected a student to go to a training at two in the morning ... That's why his surprise was great when he heard from outside the sound of the balls hitting the floor of the court.

-O-oikawa-san.-He said between surprised and annoyed... He had taken away his moment of frustration.

He was not alone. Part of the Aoba Josai was training with him: Iwaizumi, of course. Kunimi, Kindaichi, Makki ...

-Tobio-chan ... What ...?

-What are you doing here ?! You have a game tomorrow and you’re losing hours of sleep! -Kageyama not even stopped to think why it bothered him so much.

Oikawa approached, smiling.

-Shittykawa, don't waste time. We have to train!-Iwaizumi interrumpted them.

-Yes, Iwa-chan, just a moment ... -He approached Kageyama.-And you? You don't have any more games ...

- Because of your damn fault!

He punctured Oikawa in the center of his chest with his finger and then left. He grabbed one of the balls on the court and began to serve against the wall, under the watchful eye of Seijo. Frustration was denoted in every hit.

-Ne, Tobio-chan.-Oikawa called him after ten minutes.

- Idiot, if you call him that, he’ill never pay attention!

-Shut up, Iwa-chan!-He approached the dark-haired man with a smile.

Kageyama dropped the ball from his hands.

-Why the hell are you asking me for help? You just defeated us and we still want to help you train for tomorrow ... Hell, you're still just as arrogant!

Oikawa shrugged.

-I hoped you didn't have so bad to lose. Besides ... -He got closer to Kageyama.-Between you and me ..Shiratorizawa is a rival ... -He looked up trying to find the right words.-He is a great rival. I hoped that you wanted that the team that defeated you be a great rival for Shiratorizawa and not lose the first exchange. So your team will also stand out more.

-Okay! Deamn, you are insufferable!-He stomped towards where the Seijo was, stunned Kindaichi and Kunimi.- What idiot do I have to set?!

Everyone looked at each other. Oikawa laughed.

After a while, they made a batch of passes and spikes. Kageyama suddenly left the ball on the ground.

-I want to attack, can I? -He ask Oikawa.

Oikawa smiled at him.

-Makki! You wanted to practice your settings, right? Set the rest.-He turned there was Kageyama.-I will make it difficult for you, okay?

-Of course.-Kageyama said, in a strange understanding.

They attacked several times. Oikawa tried to make the fastest sets he could, and Kageyama recieved almost everyone.

It was at least the 15th attack they would make. Oikawa caugh a ball and, instead of placing it, he pushed it away with his hand. He then hid his face in his elbow.

-Atsshu... TShu!.-He sneezed softly, with a hint of anxiety.

He sipped afterwards and smiled. "Sorry." He gestured at the throwing of the balls and after giving him a friendly blow to the back, the ball returned.

Kageyama looked at him for a few seconds before returning to the auction. It was the first time he remembered seeing Oikawa sneeze, although it was perfectly normal.

-Shittikawa!

-What's up, Iwa-chan?! -He turned to his partner

-You know what's up!

Oikawa sighed in resignation and looked at Kageyama with an apologetic expression.

-I’m sorry, Tobio-chan. I'll take a break, you can practice some serves.

Kageyama looked at him seriously, not understanding much. He just nodded.

Then, when he saw him go to the bench, he understood. The slight limp. It was barely noticeable, but for someone who knew Oikawa for such a long time, he could appreciate the slight inclination of the trunk, the instability in taking the steps that Oikawa never had ...

He followed him once he had already sat on the bench. He stood in front of him, covering the light

-Tomorrow is the game.

Oikawa raised his head, surprised.

-Yes…?

-You are limping.

Oikawa opened his eyes wide for a moment, but quickly smiled. He tapped the bench beside him. Kageyama sat down.

-Are you scrupulous?- He asked, handing him a bottle of water.

Kageyama took it and took a sip.

-I'd rather you shut up about that, Tobio-chan.

-So you limp. Your knee?

-It's the change of time.

-Already…

-I'm serious!-He exclaimed, offended.

Both stared at the serves in completly silence. Oikawa had his head on the back wall, and Kageyama was with his forearms on his knees.

-You see it?-Oikawa said.

-Mn?- Tobio asked, looking at him.

-Makki lifts the ball with a wrist twist. I had never seen it before. He says it's the custom ...

-It's not very effective. Lose speed.

-Yes.

Kageyama waited. He knew Oikawa enough to know that he was going to add something else. However, he did not do it. Kageyama looked at him and saw him with the look on the ceiling, his eyes narrowed and a hand halfway to his mouth. Kageyama watched closely as his fine features wrinkled for a moment and his eyebrows contracted in frustration.

-Atsshh.-He sneezed softly, in his hand. He sniffled later

-Bless you.

-Thanks.

Kageyama saw him ... decayed? Impossible. He was Oikawa Tooru, the Great King, with whom he was speaking.

-And you? You use the quick wrist twist or push?-Kageyama said.

-Depends with who.-He responded quickly. He kept his eyes on his teammates.

-I…

-Aghtshu.-He sneezed again, in a more desperate way than the previous times, turning to avoid the sight of Kageyama.-Sorry. Yes, you usually do it pushing, I know.

Kageyama looked upset. However, a part of him had still remained in the sneeze. He had never heard him before. It was ironic that he seemed to know him more when he wasn't even on the team.

-You are not coming back?

-What?- Kageyama looked at him.

-To the court, you aren’t coming back?

-I never thought that one day I would say this but ... too much volley for today.

Oikawa laugh. Kageyama had lay down on the wall with reluctance.

After a few seconds, the elder got up emitting a groan.

-In that case, I don't think I will do nothing here ...

-You go? Aren't you going to continue training?- Kageyama would not admit that he would have liked to see from there some serves from him.

-Yes… I don't think it's good to force my leg for tomorrow… Iwa-chan!

His partner looked at him, and a ball hit him in the head because the distraction.

-Baka-kawa, what do you want!?

-I'm going. I still have to plan the strategy for tomorrow and it's getting late.

Iwaizumi nodded and gave her the okay symbol.

-Don't stay late, you know!

-Yes mom…

Kageyama also got up. He went to say goodbye to the rest, but he felt he shouldn't do it ... He grabbed his bag and sped up to reach Oikawa.

-You are following me?

-What? No. I don't think I can do much there with your team ...

-So you were there for me?

-You are an arrogant, you irritate me.-He said angrily, clenching his fists.

Oikawa smirked.

-Are you coming for a coffee?

-What? Now? You weren't going to ...

Oikawa shook his head.

-Later. I need…-He took a deep breath.-A break.

Oikawa stood in front of the coffe shop door and nodded. Kageyama looked at the glass door. There was only one man inside, smoking a cigar, and a woman with a cart and a sleepy face. After several seconds of thinking, Kageyama nodded. Oikawa opened the glass door. The waiter looked at them strangely.

-Here?- Kageyama offered, picking up a table with two chairs, attached to the wall.

Oikawa coughed a couple of times while nodding. The waiter approached them, trying not to seem surprised to be so late.

-A coffee.

-Perfect, and you?

-What? -Kageyama looked at Oikawa.-No. You are not going to order a coffee. Put him a glass of milk, decaffeinated at most.

-Why can't I ask for a damn coffee?

-Because you wouldn't sleep all night, idiot! -Kageyama didn't realize that the people in the coffe looked at them like crazy.-Put the coffee for me. To him a glass of milk.

-Ah... -Oikawa sighed, holding her head with her hand.-Everyone looks like my mother today ...

-Perhaps it is because you have a childish behavior?

-Tobio-chan, I am the oldest.

-Perfect.-The waiter commented after pointing on a paper.-Nothing else?

-Two neapolitans, please.-Oikawa commented.

The waiter nodded and left.

-I want nothing.

-Late.-Oikawa sipped, with a smile. To Kageyama's surprise, he didn't add anything else.

-It's strange ... this ... -He looked around.-I don't even know what I'm doing.

-Tell it to me...-He shrugged. His chin was resting on his hand, and he looked at something more smoothed than usual.

-It hurts? The knee I mean ...

Oikawa shrugged.

-Now more. I'll get ice later.

Kageyama looked at him and shook his head.

-Now we ask.

-No, when we leave. But I appreciate your concern.

Kageyama snorted.

-You're an idiot. How did you do it?

At that moment the waiter arrived with a tray. In it were the glass of milk, the coffee and two Neapolitans on a plate, with capsules with butter, jam and two knives and forks.

- There you go.

-Thanks.-Kageyama said, although his usual monotony of voice did not change.

Oikawa went to answer but he put rapidly both hands on his mouth before he could do it. He took a quick breath and sneezed immediately.

-Tshhu ! Gtshh! -They were quick sneezes and not very loud. He sobbed later and ran a hand over his nose.

-Bless you.-The waiter said.

-Bless.-Kageyama repeated second later.

Oikawa whispered “thanks”.

- They're from the volleyball club, aren't they?

-Yes.

- And how is it that you are at this time awake? Tomorrow follows the tournament...

-Our bus broke down and we had to stay tonight today. We've already lost… -Kageyama lied, looking for a moment at Oikawa, who nodded in thanks.

Oikawa sniffled every few seconds.

-It's a shame. Good luck for the next.-Said the waiter, and left.

Oikawa reached out to reach the metal boat of napkins and pulled out one.

-Do you already assume that we are going to lose tomorrow?- He commented, with a smile and mocking voice, although now slightly congested.

He blew his nose and then put the napkin in his pocket.

-Shiratorizawa is strong. Too strong.

Oikawa sighed.

-I know.

He grabbed one of the knives and put a Neapolitan on his plate.

- Do you already have a plan?

-I have at least eight plans.-He split a piece of Neapolitan.

Although he didn't feel like it much, Kageyama also started eating it.

- Now that they work or not ...-Continued Oikawa.

He sniffled again and ran his hand over his nose, shrugging it. The raven appreciated that he looked uncomfortable. He wondered if he was having a cold or if something was giving him an allergy.

-With us, they worked.

-You don't reach Shiratorizawa's shoe sole, Tobio-chan. Sorry to be so frank.

Kageyama frowned angrily. He went to reply, but Oikawa came forward.

-And probably neither do we.-He said, more dejected.

Kageyama then understood: Oikawa had accepted the fate of his team.

-No ... don't say that.-He had a lump in his throat. If Aoba Josai cannot defeat Shiratorizawa, neither Karasuno nor anyone could.-You are strong. Damn strong, damn it ... you have completely dismantled us today.

-Woah, the King of the Court admitting the strength of another team and flattering it ... pity he didn't have the cell phone here ... -He said something loaded while he put the knife on the plate and stretched his hand in his seat. He grabbed the handkerchief.

His eyes narrowed and he took an irregular breath through his open mouth.

-Fool. I mean it.-Kageyama commented more calmly.

His features contracted and he brought the wrinkled handkerchief to his mouth with one hand.-Tgshh! -He sneezed once, sniffling later. He removed the handkerchief from his face and ran his hand delicately through his nose.-Sorry. Yes I know.

-Bless you.

-I know I shouldn't lose hope so soon. But it is impossible for me not to analyze the situation and draw conclusions.

-Nonsense.- Kageyama said, waving his hand in the air. -You'll win. And so when we win in the Spring Tournament, we will also be better than Shiratorizawa.

Oikawa smiled, narrowing his eyes.

-Always with so much motivation.-He leaned back in the chair.-You are a good rival.

-A good rival?

Oikawa relaxed.

-Thank you for worry.

-I do not worry.

-Of course you do.-The bangs were placed, flirtatious.

-Shut up!

Summary: You wake up to find Kageyama delivering the food that the rest of the managers reserved for you. While eating, you get to see the rare side of soft Kageyama and the small time frame you have with each other, it shows that both of your walls are slowly coming down. Then after having a late start to the day, the boys show how much they’ve missed you and as the day goes on, some priceless moments are finally captured through your infamous Polaroid.

Kageyama sighed as he eyed the bento box in his hand. It was packed and given to him by Shimizu once he followed her, Sugawara, and Daichi into the kitchen when everyone parted ways. After the food was ready to be delivered, the boys slapped his shoulders in encouragement and he watched the third years leave him to fetch the laundry baskets. ‘I...somehow feel...as if everyone was in on this…’ He thought to himself as he entered the girls’ building and towards the classroom that had its door slightly ajar.

“Sorry for the intrusion…” he said softly as he slid the door open and made his way inside.

He scanned the room and noticed the small bundle of blankets in the corner across from him. Making his way over, his gaze softened once he stopped next to the sleeping figure. You were curled up in a small ball with your arms tucked into your chest. Your phone was next to you with one of your playlists on its screen and he quietly kneeled down next to you. Without knowing, he began to admire your features. Kageyama thought you looked more peaceful with your face relaxed. You looked more innocent compared to your usual expression with your eyebrows scrunched up in focus or the permanent scowl you directed at them during games. He reached out and touched your forehead, sighing in relief to find out that you didn’t have any temperature.

Setting your meal next to him, he frowned as he tried to figure out the best way to wake you up. Nishinoya warned that if you didn’t get enough rest, you’d be cranky and probably lash out at him. If he was too soft on you, then you wouldn’t feel a thing because you were a heavy sleeper. With a sigh, he followed his gut and leaned over you. He didn’t know how to deal with waking up a girl so Kageyama decided to go with the soft approach. His mind flashed to your exhausted look on your face from the night before and pursed his lips. With the chance to sleep in, he hoped that it helped you feel a lot better after taking care of the team. Sitting on his knees, he rested his weight on his left arm and gently shook your shoulder with his right hand.

“(Y/N), it’s time to wake up. Shimizu-senpai asked me to bring you food.”

He waited for a couple of seconds for you to respond, but without any movement, he decided to shake you a little harder.

“Oi, you shorty. Wake up,” he said louder.

You groaned and swatted his hand away from you. “Five more minutes mom, I don’t feel good…”

“This girl-Oi, little miss sleepy head. Wake up or else I’m going to kill you.” Kageyama hissed as his patience wore thin when he saw you turn over and hug the blanket tighter. With a blank expression, he gave up trying to be gentle and began to relentlessly shake your shoulder.

“Hnng…wha…?” you murmured sleepily and now aware of someone shaking you awake. “What in the…”

Kageyama paused and watched you sleepily rub your eyes. It was a rare sight to see you with your walls down while he waited for you to fully wake up. With your hair slightly disheveled and a small pout on your lips, Kageyama quickly sat back on his knees and looked away. ‘Am I even allowed to see her like this?’

You mentally tried to gather your thoughts as your surroundings became more clear to you. Annoyance started to bubble up inside you from being woken up so harshly. There was still a light ache in your head and mentally decided to lash out at whoever decided to disturb your peace. Pushing yourself up to your elbows, you glared at the person and Kageyama immediately gulped when he met your gaze. He immediately shifted his gaze elsewhere and waited for you to say something. You were surprised to find that it was Kageyama next to you rather than Nishinoya and immediately relaxed your features.

“Tobio?” you asked sleepily.

He turned back to you and you sat up, mentally cheering that your body didn’t feel as heavy as before. You turned your body to face him and raised an eyebrow at him.

“What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at training right now?” you asked tiredly and reached for your water bottle.

“I would be, but someone took too long to wake up,” he grumbled and shoved the bento box into your lap.

You choked on your water and smiled sheepishly when you put down the bottle. “Sorry, waking up is pretty hard for me if I don’t have a set time to be up.”

“Shimizu-senpai told me to give that to you.” he nodded towards the food sitting in your lap.

You smiled when you opened it and let out a happy sound. “She remembered that I liked my rice with egg. It’s always my go-to for breakfast.”

He watched as you quickly added the soy sauce and furikake seasoning on top before mixing the raw egg and its toppings with the rice. As he watched you dig into the food, he relaxed when he noticed that your energy was slowly coming back.

“Are you feeling better?” he asked.

You swallowed the food you were eating and looked up in thought. “A little better, I might try to freshen myself up to see if that helps.”

“...so you’re not going to be there today?” Kageyama asked as he changed his sitting position. He leaned against his hands behind him and his legs were crisscrossed in front of him. He thoughtfully looked at you and tried to imagine what training would be like without you there to give him critiques or yell at the rest of the team.

You shrugged and said, “We’ll see. I might rest until you guys finish lunch. Then by the afternoon, if I’m feeling better, I’ll see you guys at the gym...hopefully.”

He sighed then glanced at the clock and you smiled at him, thankful that he took some time to check up on you. Your gaze followed his and realized that the practice matches were about to start.

“You better hurry or else Coach Ukai will yell at you.”

Kageyama grunted and stood up from his position. Straightening out his practice clothes, he lightly bonked you on the head before making his way towards the door. You watched as he lazily waved at you.

“Says the one that’s currently sick. Take better care of yourself, baka.”

With a laugh, you nodded and he walked away. Your gaze softened and smiled to yourself while biting the tip of your chopsticks. It surprised you that Kageyama was the one to bring you the meal you missed and was probably forced to. Even if that was the case, you were glad to see that he didn’t seem as closed off as before. As you finished up your food, you knew that one more nap and a shower would bring you back to normal. So once you put the bento to the side, you chugged the rest of your water then grabbed what you needed before heading towards the showers to finally kick start your day.

“(Y/N)-chan, welcome back!” Kaori greeted you when you walked into the kitchen.

You smiled at the managers who were finishing up with cutting watermelons for all the boys at the camp. The other girls were happy to see that you were back to being your energetic self after seeing the drastic change in your personality just a couple hours prior.

“I hope there wasn’t too much chaos while I was gone for the first half.” you said and bowed to them before straightening back up and sheepishly rubbed your neck.

“Nah, but your boys have been losing. Although, their spirits don’t seem to die either way.” One of the managers from Shinzen informed you.

You shrugged and walked to where Shimizu and Yachi were cutting some and immediately began to help them out.

“It was to be expected, haha. We’re trying a lot of new and different things so it’s just a matter of getting it in their bodies.”

“How are you feeling, (Y/N)-chan?” Shimizu asked.

“I feel better. The food was amazing this morning, by the way. I’ve been drinking a lot of water and sports drinks once I was completely awake too.” you chirped and gave her a cheeky smile.

“That’s good, the boys were worried about you this morning.” Yachi chimed in.

“Eh? Really?”

Shimizu nodded and passed you a tray that was filled with the last of the watermelon. “They were down at first, but they wanted to train even harder today to show you that they’ve been working hard.”

“I’m assuming they’re doing it for some extra praise?” you smirked.

The others nodded and the three of you laughed while you made your way towards the gym. You giggled behind the rest of the girls as the manager from Ubugawa announced that they’ll be given watermelon during their break. You peeked behind Shimizu’s shoulders to find the Karasuno boys out of breath. A part of you was worried because of how many times they’ve been running up the hill, but another part was glad to see that they were pushing themselves to be at their very best. All of the boys made their way outside as the managers stood by the door so they could take one on their way out. You stood at the end of the line and waited to see who would spot you first.

“EH?! (Y/N)-CHAN!” Hinata exclaimed when his eyes landed on you.

With that saying, the rest of the boys zeroed in on you and before you knew it, they were racing towards you with bright smiles.

“We missed you!” Daichi said and ruffled your hair before grabbing a slice.

“It was a little quiet without you reprimanding Kageyama and Hinata for their antics during breakfast this morning.” Sugawara chuckled.

“I’m glad to see you’re feeling better, (Y/N)-chan.” Asahi smiled.

After the three boys left, Nishinoya, Tanaka, Ennoshita, and the rest of the second years went up to you for their share.

“Glad to see you’re up and running, (Y/N)-chan.” Nishinoya grinned and squeezed your cheek.

“What can I say? You know how I can be sometimes and hey- stop that hurts y’know?” you huffed and swatted his hand away as he laughed and grabbed his slice before walking away to find a spot to sit.

“Did you enjoy your little breakfast delivery?” Tanaka snickered and wriggled his eyebrows at you.

With a slight kick at his ankle, he winced and you smiled innocently. “Did you know that Shimizu-senpai is out of your league? Don’t test me today, Ryu-nii.”

He laughed and turned towards Nishinoya before walking off. “Oi, she totally enjoyed her morning!” Turning back to you, he clicked his tongue and pointed finger guns at you, “Don’t worry about that, I’m completely aware of that kid. I’m gonna make her fall in love with me either way.”

“I’m sorry for that, (Y/N)-chan. But we are glad to see that you’re doing okay.” Ennoshita said.

“Of course, I can’t let Shimizu-senpai and Yachi-chan do all the work when it comes to you guys.” you smiled and you immediately rolled your eyes when you saw who was next.

“Oh, so you didn’t die?” Tsukishima snickered while he grabbed one before immediately walking away.

You raised your fist at him and mentally cursed him in your mind for being such a smartass. ’Just you wait until I beat your ass when I get a chance to spike a ball past you, you salty prick.’

“Why this mother-”

“Don’t mind him, (Y/N)-chan. But I hope you’re feeling better.” Yamaguchi said hurriedly with a sheepish smile before getting his slice, trying to catch up to the blonde.

“Glad to see you’re doing a lot better. I missed seeing you this morning.” Hinata smiled before making his way towards Kenma and Lev on the hill after being pushed out of the way when he made your presence known.

“Are you sure you should be doing this?” Kageyama asked as he took the last slice and bit into it.

You shrugged and held the tray to your side. “I mean I feel fine and if it makes you relax, I’ll take it easy today.”

He narrowed his eyes at you and you held out your pinky in response. “Pinky promise.”

With a sigh, he reluctantly linked his pinky with yours, still doubting that you were at your best. You simply gave him a playful salute and smirked. “I won’t let you down.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever.” he grumbled before walking off.

‘It’s like he’s trying his hardest not to show that he cares.’ You laughed to yourself before walking back to the kitchen to refill your tray with more watermelon.

“Oh? You brought it out, huh?” Yachi smiled when her eyes landed on the Polaroid camera you brought along to one of the practice matches later in the day.

You smiled as you set it down beside your things on the bench. You quickly put your hair up in a bun and began to fill it with a new packet of film.

“I figured I could show the boys how hard they’ve been looking with some action shots.”

“It’s true, this is the most motivated I’ve seen them. It’s quite scary because collisions like the one that happened yesterday could happen again. If that happens, then those types of accidents can lead to major injuries if they’re not careful.” Shimizu added while looking over their notes to summarize their current statistics.

You hummed in agreement and as the boys filed out of the gym for their punishment, you knew it was the perfect time to get some candids of the boys. You stood by the door as they stretched their legs and took one of the third years together. Then when the boys reached the top, you took one of all their silhouettes standing together. And once they slowly made their way down the hill, you smiled to yourself as you managed to get one of Nishinoya jumping onto Tanaka’s back. The flash took them by surprise and Nishinoya smiled widely.

“You brought the camera!” he grinned and jumped off of Tanaka.

Walking up to you, he snatched it from you and smiled cheekily while playfully shaking it. “My turn to take some pictures.”

Without getting a word out from you, he ran away and you could only sigh in disbelief. ‘He really never runs out of energy, huh?’

You looked back towards the hill to see that most of them were about to come back and hurriedly picked up the bottles of water Shimizu set against the wall near the entrance. Grabbing as many as you could, you began to hand it out to the rest of the boys.

“Good work today, you guys!” you cheered as they grabbed their bottles and tried to catch their breath..

A chorus of ‘thank you’ surrounded you and you pouted once Daichi ruffled your hair.

“What do I always say about the hair?” you whined.

“Not to touch it, but we still do because of that reaction of yours” Asahi chuckled and smiled in thanks as he grabbed his bottle from you.

You turned around as they walked past you, slowly making their way into the gym, and someone tapped your on the shoulder. You smiled to see that it was Kageyama. He tiredly wiped his face with his towel and you held out his water bottle.

“Good job today, Tobio.” you said while he wrapped his towel around his neck.

“Thanks.” he murmured and grabbed the other end of his bottle. You rocked on your heels as you waited for him to compose himself and took a sip of his water.

“Do you mind if we practice after dinner?” he asked as he looked down at you with a hint of a smile on his face.

You shook your head and said, “I don’t mind as long as you’re down for a rematch.”

He raised an eyebrow and smirked. “Oh? Someone doesn’t like to lose.”

With a cheeky smile, you shoved his bottle towards his chest and said, “I need to get my revenge on the prodigy y’know?”

“AHAHA I GOT IT! TANAKA I REALLY I GOT THAT!” Nishinoya exclaimed.

The two of you snapped your heads to the right to find Nishinoya holding your Polaroid in his hands with Tanaka standing behind him, laughing his head off. Kageyama just blinked, still trying to process what happened, as you stomped over to them. Snatching the camera out of their hands, you plucked whatever pictures Nishinoya took out of his hands.

“Stop fooling around, you shitheads!” you yelled and jabbed both of them in the stomach.

They fell to the ground in pain but burst out laughing once more. “It was too cute not to capture! We never get to see soft Kageyama!”

“Shut up right now Yu-nii.” you hissed.

“C’mon you can’t deny it once you see the photo.” Tanaka added.

Sugawara called out for them to come back inside and you sighed to yourself as you shuffled through the photos. Tanaka and Nishinoya nudged your sides when they passed you, still trying to tease you as much as they could. You snickered when Sugawara slapped the back of their heads before turning your attention back to the photos in your hands. One was a selca of Nishinoya and Tanaka, another was of Tsukishima flipping off the camera with Yamaguchi simply not knowing what to do in the background, another was of the third years smiling widely at the camera, the second to last one was of Hinata flashing a wide smile and holding up a ‘V,’ and the last one was of you and Kageyama.

You bit your lip while you tried to stop yourself from smiling so widely. Nishinoya had caught the moment of you and Kageyama smirking and smiling at each other. Kageyama’s facial expression was the closest anyone would see to him for smiling and there was a joyful look in his eyes. Meanwhile you were looking up at him with your dimple showing and you knew you had let your emotions show too quickly. ‘I guess Yu-nii can be useful with that camera sometimes.’ you thought to yourself before putting all of the pictures into your bag and made your way towards the kitchen to help with dinner.

Tsukishima Kei

Literally, everyone would see them coming before Tsukishima did. They’d pop into the gym with this giant grin and gesture for them to be quite as they tiptoe across the floor to them, hands ready to pounce at any given moment.

Like, this is one of those things that constantly keeps happening. I’m sure the team is always in on it and everyone has gotten to the point where they distract the tol bean as his significant other makes their move!

Tsuki is always surprised by it. Every. Single. Time. He always lets out an audible gasp as his body twists in an attempt to get away from the hands assaulting his sides, eyes wide and their name coming from his mouth in complete betrayal!

Kageyama Tobio

I can totally imagine this child being in the middle of serving when they come up behind him and just start full out ATTACKING his person with tickles. He drops the ball and practically screams!

I promise you his immediate reaction is to yell at Hinata for it, even if the accused baby crow is standing at the net in front of him.

“Baka, Hinata! What the hell are you doing!!?!!” As he’s struggling to grab at the hands at his sides. Hinata would be 100 percent offended, like, “Da faq, Kageyama? I’m way over here!”

Yaku Morisuke

I feel like Yaku is the type of person who is always aware of who is in the gym at all times, so there would be no sneaking up on him. They’d just casually walk over when they’re having a water break or something.

As soon as his head tips back, that’s there moment to pounce! Just reach over and watch the water go flying from both his shock and the sudden bursts of laughter that come from him!

Kuroo saw it coming the whole time and just smiles knowingly as Yaku calls for help from his teammates. He probably made a bad joke about it beforehand, like, “oi, Yaku, you’re just tickled by [Last Name]-chan, aren’t you?” (I thought this was waaaay funnier at 5:00 AM then i’m sure it actual is)

Akaashi Keiji

I just have this feeling that this tickle attack was planned out waaaay in advance by his significant other and Bokuto. Like, seriously, way too much effort was put into this ‘random surprise attack.

And really, I feel like Bo just couldn’t keep a proper oblivious attitude. He’d probably be all giggly just thinking about how funny it’s gonna be where it happens!

Akaashi’s smart so he’ll know that something is up, but he doesn’t really know what that is until it’s too late! He just seems like the type that would instinctively HIT the person attacking him, so they should be careful! And he’d feel so bad afterwards!

Kozume Kenma

This child is so freaking observant he’d just know what’s up when they walked through those gym doors. He’d see the smile, the mischief in their eyes and his guard would instantly go up, not allowing them to get behind him or an open opportunity at his ticklish tummy.

They’ll get their chance though, I promise! All they gotta do is recruit the help of Kuroo and the rest will go down as one of the most amusing days of volleyball practice in history!

Kuroo would just casually wander over and before Kenma got the chance to get suspicious, he’d take the small cats wrists and pull them away from his body. “Now’s your chance!” So they better take full opportunity of it!
