It is late. There is a white shine that comes from above the sky in between the darkness of the night. The clouds are far away and the sight is clear for him to find his way home.
Home.
He reaches the door to their apartment. His dull fingers almost refuse to move as he pushes the doorknob. The inside is as dark as it is outside, so he assumes that his family is already asleep.
Family.
He moves groggily as he takes off his sandals and his cloak. His wife would want to scold him tomorrow morning for the mess he leaves behind but he does not care. She would understand, he knows, and as soon as she would open her mouth she would close it again to show him a sympathetic smile.
That smile.
She knows why he is barely at home and why he comes there late if he actually does. His mission is important, and she understands. His mission is the future of their child, so she does not mind. He feels that she is proud of what he does and of how much he sacrifices. Although he feels that she does, he also feels that it is eating her up as much as it does with him. He is reminded of the time he has been home when their daughter was little as he slowly opens the door to her bedroom.
Their daughter.
She is sleeping. He watches her little form and listens to her soft breathing. He misses to hear her voice instead in that moment, to see her looking back at him, to spend time with her. It is a rough road he has chosen for himself, and he regrets it a little in these moments. He sighs through his nose and pretends he has not heard it as he walks towards her. He observes her face the same way he has done countless times before, proud and happy. That´s when his heart swells, he smiles, and strokes her hair before he pulls her blanket up so it covers her precious self. One more tender stroke, and he checks the curtains in her room so the sun won´t disturb her sleep in the morning. He looks back at her one last time that night and closes her bedroom door behind him. There is one more person he has to see before he finally can visit the dreamland himself.
His wife.
Their shared bedroom is bigger than their daughter´s. There is their shared bed in the middle. She is lying on her side, leaving the other side free for him to sleep on. She has also been careful to not pull all the sheets to herself, he muses. He approaches her sleeping form and watches her for a few seconds before she finally stirs.
“Sa…kun.”
He changes into his comfy pyjamas and steps into bed. That´s when her clumsy self turns around to face him. It is dark and they barely see each other but they still struggle to keep their eyes open as they lay on their sides, staring.
“Welcome home.”
He is tired and does not feel like talking, so he acts. His only hand finds its way into her pink locks. He is playing with soft strands of hair and then moves to massage her neck. He does these things subconsciously, like breathing. There is nothing wrong, nothing old nor new about these gestures. They are normal and they are just him.
She does the same. It´s his face first, his hair second, and his chest third. It is a gesture of caring, of trust, of love that they share on instinct. They need nothing more to feel content. They need nothing more because they know of the bond they share and treasure.
She whispers, “I´m glad you made it home.”
His answering grunt comes shortly after as he strokes her cheek. Her skin is soft and warm as he kisses the corner of her eye and lips. He pulls her towards him, and she gladly follows.
They fall asleep together as they keep themselves in their embrace that feels like home.

“Sasuke Didn’t Care About Sakura in Part 1 Naruto”
Sasuke stayed by Sakura’s side when she passed out and waited until she woke back up during Kakashi’s exam.
Sakura was the only person Sasuke told about how Itachi made him cry.
Sasuke protected and worried about her well being during their first mission together as a team WAY more than he protected and worried about Naruto or Kakashi.
Sasuke was the first and only person to notice her depression and was the only one who comforted her by boosting her confidence. When she regained her confidence in herself, HE SMILED. SASUKE BACK IN PART 1 NEVER SMILED FOR ANYONE.
Sasuke saved Sakura from being killed by Orochimaru in the Forest of Death and sought comfort from her after he was given the curse mark.
HE. BROKE. ZAKU’S. ARMS. BECAUSE. HE. HURT. SAKURA.
Sasuke didn’t mind when Sakura was helping him walk during their last leg of the Forest of Death.
Sasuke reveals that he’s put her on a completely different pedestal compared to everyone else when he says that he couldn’t forgive EVEN HER if she stood between him and his avenging path.
Sasuke makes Sakura promise she won’t tell Naruto about his curse mark in the Forest of Death, making this the first time that they shared a secret.
Sasuke risks his life trying to save her from Gaara and states that she’s precious to him for the first time out loud.
He was both horrified and angry when Sakura tried to stop his match with Naruto on the Hospital rooftop since he almost killed her.
Sakura was the only one Sasuke said goodbye and thank you to before he left the village. And he didn’t leave her on the ground when he knocked her out, he left her on the bench so she wouldn’t catch a cold. He could’ve easily just left her on the ground if he was so heartless and didn’t care about her.
