SG, Japan, HK top int’l travel destinations for Filipinos, says travel app Klook
According to a consumer trends survey conducted by travel site Klook, Singapore (HG), Japan, and Hong Kong (HK) are the favored overseas destinations for Filipinos due to proximity and visa exemptions. Klook reported that compared to February 2019, app downloads were up 22% in February 2023. The fourth quarter of 2022 saw a 62% increase in bookings over the previous quarter. When compared to pre-pandemic levels, monthly reservations are expected to rise by 27% by the end of the year, according to Michelle Ho, general manager for Klook in the Philippines and Thailand. This growth will be driven by both domestic and international travel. At a conference on March 14, she stated, "Locally, the usual suspects like Manila Ocean Park, Sky Ranch Tagaytay, and Boracay packages would continue to push the development. In order to better digitalize local tourism and promote recovery, Klook also announced that it would be stepping up some of its more recent initiatives to focus on emerging locations in addition to well-known ones. Klook Pass is an all-in-one digital pass that bundles together activities like island hopping, spa appointments, and hotel stays for a price that is around 30 to 40% less than when bought separately. It was first introduced during the pandemic and is currently only accessible in Boracay and Cebu. Ms. Ho also stated that the platform intended to create more pass kinds, such as a family pass, a foodie pass, and a pass for visits outside of those two cities. She said that Klook currently offers access to 21 cities in the Philippines, up from less than 12 places before the pandemic. "There's a lot we can do with the technology, and we intend to ratchet it up for the year to come," she said. They intend to develop secondary destinations like La Union, Baguio, Batangas, Iloilo, and Bacolod rather than focusing heavily on excursions and attractions. The top destination at the time, according to Ms. Ho, was Boracay. However, she added, "because of the pandemic, we want to accelerate domestic travel through other destinations too." Back then, Ms. Ho said, "our mindset was going for destinations with potential for domestic and inbound travelers like Koreans and Chinese." The newest product from Klook, Klook Hotels, also includes hotel stays so that customers can conveniently reserve their rooms for a trip. Ulla Rosanne K. Sy, head of marketing at Klook Philippines, said that it will be followed by Klook Stay Plus, which will debut this year and allow hotel rooms to be combined with meals and activities. Ms. Sy stated, "We want to push this to complement our major business, which is tours and attractions. According to Klook's survey, 87% of Filipinos are keen to travel. According to platform statistics, domestic destination reservations increased by 87% in November 2022 compared to the same month in 2019. Also, respondents stated that they prefer lengthier holidays of approximately six to nine days when traveling abroad (44%). Three to five-day stays come next (40%), then stays lasting ten days or longer (38%), and finally stays lasting one to two days (15%). Ms. Ho attributed the willingness to travel more and for longer to the increased access Filipinos have to travelling. Since more people are becoming tech-literate, travel has become even more accessible to customers, and according to her, this digital change is significantly accelerating the expansion of tourism in the area. Ultimate Vigan Escape: Budget DIY Itinerary for Ilocos Sur Tour
[ TAKEOFFPHILIPPINES.com ] A great time to end my month-long vacation on this New7Wonders in the World, Vigan, Ilocos Sur. Its rich history made it to the list of the Unesco Heritage Site as this city was established roughly 16th century now but still, the preservation of the architectural design are visible in the city even on their urban development program.
The main attraction of tourist here in Vigan is its preservation of almost 187 ancestral house in town, colonial structured churches, donation-driven museums, a free-roaming zoo and local Ilocano restaurants which is a must visit.
It was an exciting trip that I can’t forget as this was our first trip together with Gab going up north in Ilocos Region. It was really tiring but fun at the same time as we were simply backpackers. You can roam around the city within 2 - 3 days. We’ve got to experience The Ultimate Vigan Escape for a rough estimate of Php 5,000.
Here are a travel guide and a sample DIY itinerary going to Vigan if your planning to visit this city soon.
Where to Ride Going to Vigan?
As Vigan is located here in Luzon, we can either go for a land or air transportation. There are many Vigan Tour Package offerings on every travel agency that you could try. It may include a van going to Vigan for an easy and worry-free trip but As for us, we decided to ride a bus. We felt that the best way to enjoy the trip is to experience riding it on the public transportation.
We tried Partas Bus using their Online Booking System. There are several bus companies you can try on your Vigan trip but since convenience is our priority we ride on a Partas Bus. I recommend their good and fast service on accommodating our concern during our trip.
Express Bus Via TPLEX Fare: Php 760.00 (1 route, 5 - 6 hours travel time, 1 Stopover in between)
Riding a Partas First Class Express got us the following privileges:
Cuts your travel time by up to 4 hours! (Pasay to Laoag)
No passenger pick-ups along the road
Only one stopover

Touring Around Vigan: Mode of Transportation
Vigan is a capital in Ilocos Sur that you can encapsulate your activities with just a day or two since its just a small town. Tourist spots along the Vigan proper are walking distance from each other but always prepare yourselves with a big bottled water and umbrella since the scorching heat of the sun is very imminent. Places like Baluarte, River Cruise, Mindoro Beach, Bantay Church Bell Tower seems to need to go for a ride since its a bit far.
The main transportation used by people here is either the tricycle or a kalesa (horse-drawn carriages). If you’re looking for a more intimate time I would suggest riding a kalesa to enjoy the scenery but if you have limited time like us I would prefer riding a tricycle.
Tricycle Fee: Php 20 - up (Depends on the distance)
Kalesa Fee: starts at Php 150
Where to Stay in Vigan?
While exploring the streets of Vigan, we’ve noticed that each corner has numerous choice of hotels, inns and transient houses. Name it! You won’t have any problems looking for one. All you have to do is to be keen in looking for more affordable and cheaper rooms from the internet.
Luckily we found the right tool to search for affordable hotels in Vigan by using Traveloka. Traveloka helps you book your hotels and flights in less than 5 minutes with just a click away. They even had promos that you can use while booking. You can check their website or download their app on Android and IOS to try it first hand on this travel booking app.
Since we want to visit all the well-known tourist spots around Vigan City with less cost but still has a decent accommodation we landed on Mel Sol’s Inn and Resort at Bantay, Ilocos Sur, a 5-6 minutes tricycle ride from Vigan Proper.

When in Vigan: Where to Go?
We arrived at Vigan earlier than expected, we didn’t foresee that our bus has a new that's why we have ample time to roam around and go to church to start our Sunday with a positive outlook.
Simbaan A Basit
Liberation Blvd, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur
It is located at the edge of a Cemetery in Vigan. According to history, the cemetery chapel was built over a century now and it is dedicated to Santo Cristo also known in Ilocos as “Apo Lakay” who is believed to save Vigan’s populace from a plague in 1756 and 1882.
The chapel’s marker bears that the cemetery was blessed by Rev. Vicente Barreiro on Nov. 9, 1852 but the chapel’s interior now looks modern with all the repairs done through the years. Its name "Simbaan a Bassit" literally means "Small Church", since it’s a small it can only accommodate up to 100 people.
Vigan Heritage Village - Calle Crisologo
Crisologo, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur
After a mass at Simbaan A Basit, we decided to stroll around Vigan and search the well known Vigan Heritage Village wherein it was considered as a UNESCO Heritage Site as it helps out preserved the culture and history of Ilocos Region.
You can explore those old houses with a century older than me by riding a Kalesa (horse wagon) or by simply walking on the streets, as it also helps out burn some calories. It is much appreciated during the night as you can feel the romantic ambiance and stunningly beautiful light post in the area.
Mostly you can have your dinner on this streets as they have plenty restaurants to choose from and buy some cool stuffs on souvenir shops.
Vigan Cathedral / St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral
Burgos St., Vigan City, Ilocos Sur
After not so far from Vugan Heritage Village you can visit again a nearby church. Vigan Cathedral, It is a Roman Catholic Cathedral in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. It serves as the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia.
According to history, The church itself was built in 1641 to replace the chapel and became a cathedral when the seat of the Diocese of Nueva Segovia was transferred here from Lal-lo, Cagayan in 1758, but not before being ravaged by a fire in 1739.
The Cathedral of Vigan, as it is sometimes called, is a stunning tribute to Baroque architecture modified by the Ilocanos to survive earthquakes. It also has a bit of Chinese influence thanks to the carvings of lion dogs beside the outermost doors.
Plaza Salcedo
Plaza Salcedo, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur
Right in front of Saint Paul Metropolitan Cathedral is the Plaza Salcedo, named after the Spanish conqueror, Juan de Salcedo who subdued the early native settlement in Vigan and established upon it Villa Fernandina for the monarchs of Spain in 1572. With this, Juan de Salcedo founded the third of many Hispanic settlements in the Philippines. Plaza Salcedo was the site of the execution of Gabriela Silang in September 1763.
According to history, the plaza was susceptible to fire during the Spanish regime. So the plan then was to create a man-made lagoon to minimize fire incidents. The original concept dating back several years ago is retained until March 2013 wherein a dramatic addition has been added to the once quiet and laid back park in between the Vigan Cathedral and the Ilocos Sur Capitol. The addition is a majestic dancing fountain.

AWESOME DAY TO WANDER AT THE SUMMER CAPITAL
We started our second day in Baguio by strolling at Teacher’s camp since it is just a walk away from our inn.
The Teachers’s camp is an events venue and teachers training center. There is no entrance fee to enter the place. And it is also best to go here during morning because the nature’s breeze will welcome you while you walk. The area is big that we haven’t tried to explore each and every part of it.
There are also some food vendors like magtataho, which we have bought for 20.00 for each cup of strawberry flavored taho it is very tasty and it is enough as our breakfast for that morning.
And then we decided to go to the Bencab Museum, Since we don’t have idea how to commute to Bencab, we decided to take a taxi and it cost us around Php 200.00 ( as far as I remembered) from Teacher’s camp. It was quite a little long ride. But we haven’t encountered traffic so we still arrived early where people are not yet crowded.
Upon entering the museum they will assist you to the reception for the entrance fee payment and the museum guide. Entrance fee for adults is Php 120.00, For students and senior citizens with I.D is Php 100.00 and Phnp 80.00 respectively They also have some special rates for group tours. The museum is open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
You can see this view on the veranda. The Museum Houses the National Artist Ben Cabrera’s art collection in a four-level building. It showcases the authentic old Baguio experience.
After the morning artsy stroll that we have. We decided to go back at the session road to take our lunch. We just rode a jeepney to go back.
Then after our quick lunch we headed to Burnham Park and tried the activities there.
The boat ride will cost you around Php 150.00 per hour /Php 100.00 for 30 mins.
One of the most popular areas in Burnham park is this man-made lake situated at the heart of this huge park. Enjoy the boat ride with your friends and family, just make sure to balance and keep rowing. Luckily our mom and cousin is an expert with this, because it might look easy but its hard tho.
Next to the lagoon is the children playground where you can rent bicycles (single, double or with side car), scooters or go kart. Rental will cost you around Php 50.00 per hour.
We enjoyed riding bicycle again after couple of years we haven’t tried it. Fortunately we still know how to ride it. Just be careful with some of the kids always changing sides and some speed riders. :)
Next Stop for our Baguio escapade is the Bell House inside Camp John Hay. We just rode a jeepney to reach the area. Then take a taxi since we are quite tired to walk to the top :)
Bell House is named after General J Franklin Bell, it is used to be the official vacation residence of the Commanding General of the Philippines. While now it has been transformed into a museum that exemplifies American colonial architecture. If you will visit this alone, it is quite creepy tho. hahaha :) but definitely it’s awesome interior will amazed you.
The entrance fee cost Php 60.00 per head. including the amphitheater beside the bell house and the Cemetery of Negativism.
If you want some adrenaline rush dare to try the tree top adventure rides. The Superman Ride (zipline), Canopy Ride , and Tree Drop (harnessed free fall) are crowd favorites.Rates: Superman Ride: PhP 300, Canopy Ride: PhP350, Tree Drop, (P150) Combo Packages: Start at PhP400 per person.
But then, there are too many people waiting that time so we decided not to try and just rest along with the trees.
Just by seating next to trees make me really feel so relaxed. Away from too many noise of the city, breathing some fresh air. no emails, no phone calls just enjoying the view while sharing some good stories with my fam.
Basically it’s our last day to stroll the City of Pines, we just have the next morning as our last schedule before heading back to Manila.
And since my sister is insisting to get back to the Mines View park to witness the sunrise. We decided to get up early in the morning and watch the sunrise for the last stop in our trip.
Our Baguio trip was a reminder to us that no matter how busy you are, you really need to give time to yourself so that you will not get burn out and that we must love our nature so that the next generation of people could still witness the beauty of it, like what we used to see and enjoy.
Wrapping up our adventure with the sweetest smiles in our face.

To enjoy your stay at the City of Pines, you can prepare this B-E T-I-P-I-D checklist that we made just for you:
BOOKINGS How To Book Your Trips Hassle-Free? 7Before going to Baguio, since its a peak season, you must book your bus tickets and room accommodation in advance. Special thanks to Biyaheroes for a very convenient online bus booking and their partner, Pangasinan Solid North for the best bus experience I've ever had. Also, to Belshang Lodge, the homestay where we rest and took private time together. 😉 Favorite part of the lodge is their rooftop where you can take pictures of different views.
How to book your trips online? chech here, Biyaheroes Bus Schedules and Bus features: check here, Pangsinan Solid North FILE423
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
EXPENSES How Much Do You Need To Spend? 8Simply set your budget. Expect that foods in Baguio will be a little more costly than normal. 250php/head per meal is enough. If you're planning a DIY trip, bring 3,000php/head and up for an all-in expense. But if I were you, I must have availed tour packages offered online (e.g. tours.biyaheroes.com) for only 999 and invite friends to come with me to save more and to have more convenient transfers.
TRAVEL TIME How Long It Takes? 9Since in every plan, there will always be DRAWINGS, you must set the most convenient date and time for both of you. As for me and Boone, we arrived at Baguio on Dec 20, 7 AM and departed on Dec 21, 4PM. I think it was a good time since 20 was a weekday when most working people are still on duty.
Estimate Travel Time: 5 - 6 hours ITINERARY. Plan each destination. Since we're caught in the rainy weather of Baguio, we decided to stay in our room and planned the places to go the next day. Don't forget to install your Waze app using Mimiyuh's voice and "Skkrrttt!" all the way! It's an absolute stress reliever for Brave Travelers like you.
PICTURES & ADVENTURES WHAT TO DO? 10Save more memories than pictures but don't forget to take at least one per destination. Let those pictures be proof of the memories you made together that you can look back on as you grow old. All we need are phone, monopod, tripod, and clicker to get your Instagramable sweet moments together.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Place to visit in BAGUIO:
Tam-awan Village Baguio Musuem Burnham Park Wright Park SM Baguio Valley of Color La Trinidad Strawberry Farm and more!
baguiobaguio1
INTEGRATE WITH PEOPLE 11Like what I did, whenever I brought a pasalubong on each stall, I keep on requesting to pick one from their bunks of strawberries and it's ok for them as long as you buy from them, of course. Just say 'Thank You!' and don't forget to greet them a 'Merry Christmas!'
You're all set! You can now enjoy the 14 degree Celsius average temperature of the Philippines' very own Summer Capital. Enjoy your trip Brave Travelers!

Some Victory Liner buses going to north make a stop there. Make sure that the bus stops at Mabalacat Bus Terminal. Get off in the terminal and ride a jeepney or tricycle to Angeles City and transfer to another jeep or trike going to Sapang Bato.

Breeze of Baguio
Honestly, Baguio is one of my fond place I wanted to go with. I am very fascinated with her beauty that I'd only seen on the internet, tabloids, and watched on Television which I looked forward to go with which having a chance to see the wonders and of course, to feel within my skin their notorious and very popular cold weather is quite complicated in many aspect: Time, energy and money.
This trip was actually unplanned. When my former team mate asked me if I want to go and hang out with him there, I’d never hold back to say 'yes' cause damn! I wanted and dreaming it for a very long time. It may sound silly and childish to some but I ecstatically accept the offer cause why not? If you think you deserve some getaway, why bother to give it to yourself? I accept the offer despite of making an excruciating decision of going on to this trip without filing a vacation leave, but somehow its worth of risk. I think using only your off-days is not enough, you should allot at least one vacation if you want to explore and experience the Baguio moment for long time. I regret not to prolong my stay because it hypes, cliff-hang and trigger my drive to crave with more trips and exploration but the good thing is making things unplanned and let the time nicking to create abstract on how should be ended was wonderful and extra fun at the same time. I know, in ahead, I will have a chance to roam there with a plenty time. Maybe I will include Sagada as well.
From Cubao terminal 11:40 pm of friday, we bought our tickets pricing Php. 485 ($9.35) for trip to baguio with stopover but you can avail their one way trip or deluxe package with bathroom in the bus which cost a little bit expensive. We arrived in our transient house at almost 5:00 am in the morning, which is not our arrival time making our stay-in fee cost with addition because we check in very early but its not that heavy if you add a little, if you want to really save big, arrived on what the owner expect you to check in. Moreover, the price of transient varies, in our case we come up with Php. 700 ($13.49) per head (1Night stay) (The extension of hour excluded) but I hear some transients offers only ranging Php. 400 (7.71$) per head (1Night). If you good in bargaining, and no contact there to stay lot of strangers within the vicinity of Baguio terminal once you arrive will offer you wide range of their promos.
The Trip
This is tiring yet fun quick side-trip. My friend toured me with some of their basic landmarks and I'm happy with the outcomes, we may not have chance to visit some of their very commend highlight destination due to time constrain, I'm still happy to step on the grounds of their popular landmarks my friend and that also the one brought me there can't hold back to spill his sentiments about some spot in the city which underwent a drastic change making it little underwhelming and he can't help to compare how it should look like before than now. I can't blame him but that's how the process of progression work which make it a little different, and the idea of maintaining the grace and nostalgia of old looks is complex. This sudden shift of change makes it a little 'nah' in some but I’m not mad at all and this trip actually not went bad, fascination and my awe to have here still dominate. Despite of not given a chance to went on most hotspot attraction due to time constraint, Baguio still satisfies me. If you just want a little break like this just to cleanse your mind with some positivity and stressed out yourself with pressure of the world, probably this place and little time given is 'must to go' action plan. This is quick and penny saving trip. 🤗
One of the factors to enjoy Baguio if you have plans to go there is to pick a perfect place to stay in. My friend is very good on choosing a perfect transient which is convenient with cheap price. If chose a place near the vicinity of some attractions you have a easy access to their popular places making it more walk-in friendly but if you want to experience deluxe lifestyle while staying here, hotel accommodation is widely accessible. In our case, with simple needs and demand, transient is a great choice. Squad getaway is also perfect with transient option which make it a lot cheaper than less than two people.
Burnham Park is like a usual classic park we grown with and usually go to place to have some fitness routines or meet somebody but for me, this place has a extra-special characteristic which make it a little different with typical park I already went in. Its already given that city parks created to have perfect blast of fun or to have a family get together and picnic with your friends, but what astonished me is how this park maintain her solemnity despite of busy atmosphere. Parks usually annoys me when it became crowded; full of PDA's and loud noises. But here? I don't know, it's relaxing, maybe the cold weather here added up the factor of calmness. Is there any scientific explanation about it or it is just me being appreciative and naive about the place? But what matters? This place is perfect to begin your mood.
Mines View Park is also fun. The overview of city below and their fuzzy haze gives it a little charm of enchantment. Some local residence there use the opportunity of goers having a shot to take some photographs to promote their local and traditional brands such as clothing and snacks. Do I get exaggerated when I see it like I get gaga and insane when I saw the place? Honestly, no but it's good and her beauty is understatement. Perfect place to begin your over the top view selfies.
(I will edit this soon and include the photo once its sent to me)
Baguio Botanical Garden the place is instagram friendly and if you are nature lover, maybe you will get in love. But I don't see any astonishing there except with the cave close for public.
The second thing you have to look after is the Church Bell. I had much fun there. I saw some kids doing some basic traditional Chinese martial arts. Though they still considered as novice in the practice, I see their dedication to learn the discipline of that kind of exhibition. Now I’m prepping myself to stretch some muscle so I could go along with them, kidding!
And oh! The Mansion which is known as summer residence of Philippine President wayback. So far, the gate is more accessible for the public viewing and good place to shot some angle with their wide mountain like landscape.
Baguio is also know for mysteries infrastructure involve in America War. The infamous Laperal House which is ‘allegedly’ haunted by their former residence which many known Local TV shows already featured it and some of their claims that the place has a level of paranormal activity which is not totally validated despite of some clear and unexplained footage.
The Diplomat Hotel is also one of those 'haunted' place for Paranormal geeks. This place allegedly haunted where this 'ghost nun' caught on camera by one of the goers doing a montage of her travels.
There's a lot of places to go in Baguio and lot of them is very promising. If I had a perfect chance to go back, I'll definitely redocument that on this blog and here's are some things I'd missed and maybe you should try when you stop by there:
The good sheppered goodies and their infamous ube jams! Which unfortunately I haven't chance to avail due to Yam supply scarcity and the effect of climate change. Sad.
The strawberry picking in La Trinidad which is fun according to some hearsays.
The Night Market with great deals and perfect time to buy our ultimate OOTD with affordable prices.
...and the list goes on, if you have anything to add just comment below.
And that's it. Hope you enjoy reading, see you guys on next entry.

In February/March this year, I went to the Philippines with my father on a heritage trip for his 82nd birthday. Back in November when I came up with this idea, I asked him to think of places he wanted to visit and things he wanted to do. The Ibaloi Festival in Baguio City was one of those things, since his previous trips were always later in the year. This annual festival celebrates the indigenous tribes and traditions of the mountainous areas of the Philippines, a very different culture from what most tourists know about the Philippines (beaches). And as is the case in other parts of the world that were colonized, the indigenous people of the Philippines were — and continue to be — marginalized politically and socially. Known for their shy nature, they tend not to promote themselves and have difficulty speaking out against injustices, such as the appropriation of their land (sound familiar?). . So here I am, as a person of such heritage, encouraging tourists of all stripes to look beyond the landmarks, the best-selling tours, the packages, to dig deeper into a country's history and explore further afield. Go to places off the tourist trail. Uncover what has been there all along, without the fanfare. 🇵🇭 . . #VisitPhilippines #filipinoculture #travelbeyond #passionpassport #cntraveler #heritagetravel #seniortravel #familytravel #Dadsitting http://bit.ly/2Gvm9mj

Byaheng Baler: Womanlalaboy's Travel Guide to Baler, Aurora
SUMMARY

I've been to Baler a couple of times and I have to admit: I haven't seen everything there is to explore yet. It's so massive and rich in natural resources, activities, interesting people, culture and history, you'll never run out of treasures to discover and experience. Nothing less to expect from a place nestled by the mountains of Sierra Madre and touched by the Pacific Ocean.
Most travelers visit Baler for 2 days and a night just to try surfing and of course tour around Baler and it’s neighboring towns. Long itinerary, I know. We did the tours on our first stay in Baler, but the next few visits were mostly filled with surfing, road trips, drinking and eating. The friends we’ve made there were just so fun to hang around with that we always treat them to drinking; we always end up laughing and singing the nights away. So, needless to say, most of our budget went to food and drinks which we could simply cut had we restrained ourselves from abusing our livers.
HOW TO GET THERE
Primary route: Genesis Transport Service Cubao > Baler Terminal
Alternate route 1: Any bus from Cubao bound for Cabanatuan Central Terminal, Nueva Ecija (Five Star Bus, Cubao Terminal, ES Transport) > Cabanatuan Central Terminal > Baler Terminal
From Cabanatuan Central Terminal, you can board any of these buses: D-liner, Lizardo lines, PUVans, Maria Aurora bus lines, Ma. Aurora Express, Genesis transport
Alternate route 2: From Baguio City, board any of these buses: D-liner, Lizardo lines
Genesis Transport Service offers various bus transport options. They have the standard air-conditioned buses, commonly called as Genesis buses that travels for 7 hours with 3 stop overs for P450 fare. They also have luxury buses, commonly called as Joy buses that travel for 4 to 4 1/2 hours with no stop overs, but they have toilets inside. The price would depend on class:
Deluxe: P750/trip with free water, snacks, morning kit, blanket, pillow, and WiFi Semi-deluxe: P630/trip with free water, snacks and blanket
We basically went for the cheapest way to get to Baler and that is to take the standard Genesis bus from Cubao. We had to endure 7 hours of travel that could get at around 4 hours had we chosen to ride Joy bus. All was well, though. We spared some money that we can splurge on food and drinks. On our way back, we chose to board an Aurora Bus bound for Cabanatuan and from Cabanatuan, we boarded a bus to Cubao. That route proved to be cheaper than boarding a bus straight from Baler to Cubao.
SAMPLE BUDGET
900 - Transportation (depends on where you'll come from and what type of transportation you’ll avail) 375- Tour (will depend on how many tours you’ll get and how many are you in the group) 1600 - Accommodation per head (room for 4D 3N for 3 pax) 700 - Surfing lesson (2 sessions) 1000- Food and beverages ________________________________
4375- TOTAL
The budget is easy to play around with. Basically, you have a fixed allocation for your main transportation and your accommodation. Your budget would depend on what type of room you’ll get, for how long you’ll choose to stay, how many tours you’re gonna get, how many surf lessons you’re gonna avail, and how many are you in a group. Lodging by group proved to be the most sulit way as you can get rooms at a price you can divide among each other. The same goes with food, drinks and tour packages. Most inns and hostels have shared kitchen so you can just buy your food in the market or straight from fishermen and cook your own food. We do this with our boodle fights and breakfasts.

WHERE TO STAY
A friend referred us to someone who dealt with our accommodation. We first stayed at Rushie’s Point- a beach front lodging with a bar/pub, and a few huts. We went on an off-season so we only had to shell out around 1, 600/head for 3pax for 4D 3N. Contact them directly for rates and reservation policy.
We then made a friend with someone who has a kubo and a few surf boards for rent so on our future visits, Kuya Danny Boy’s kubo became our go-to place.
There are so many other lodging options around the area, but I’ve listed a few sulit options:

POINTS OF INTEREST:
Sabang Beach
This long stretch of shoreline facing the Pacific ocean is probably the most visited place in Baler. Friendly to newbies in surfing, most travelers conquer their fear of riding waves at Sabang. We usually surf in front of Tower (Near Nalu) and in front of Frus Oyat.
Century Old “Millennium” Balete Tree
Found in the town of Maria Aurora, you can marvel at the largest Balete tree in Asia that is said to have existed for more than 600 years now. It’s so enormous that you can go inside its tangled maze.
LT. James Gilmore Marker
At the corner of San Luis St. and Rizal St. stands the Lt. James Gilmore marker. He was the commander of the USS Gunboat ‘Yorktown’. He and his men were captured by insurgent forces save two (2) who were instantly killed and two (2) mortally wounded. Lt. James Gilmore and the survivors were taken to Nueva Ecija and then to Northern Luzon where they were later rescued by American forces and taken to Manila.
San Luis Obispo Parish (Baler Catholic Church)
The Baler Catholic Church is the site where the Siege of Baler happened. Filipino revolutionaries laid siege to the fortified church manned by colonial Spanish troops in the Philippines for 11 months, or 337 days.
Museo De Baler
The town proper is filled with reminders of the past and Museo De Baler is definitely a place to visit. Several artifacts are to be found in the museum- from riffles used by the Spaniards, journals , military uniforms of both the colonizers and the FIlipinos, letters, books, drawings. The museum also features the cold cast facade made by sculptor Toym Imao, the son of National Artist for the Visual Arts Abdulmari Imao.
Doña Aurora Ancestral House
The fee for checking out Museo De Baler includes a pass to Doña Maria’s ancestral house. The province of Aurora is named after the beloved first lady, Aurora Antonia Aragón Quezon who was born in Baler. Photos of the President Manuel L. Quezon, Doña Aurora and their family is preserved in the ancestral house as well as some old furniture.
Quezon Memorial Park
Manuel L. Quezon has a replicated nipa hut in Quezon Memorial Park. It also features the presidential car he used during his term and a 230-kilo bronze statue of him by Julie Lluch at the center of the park.
Ermita Hill
When the tsunami called Tromba Marina devoured Baler, the survivors went up to Ermita Hill situated in Mt. Dibudalan at Sitio Dicaloyungan, Barangay Zabali, Baler, Aurora. This place has a view of Baler Bay, Dima-Dimalangat and Aniao Islets.
Caunayan Falls
This gem is located in Pimentel, San Luis, Aurora and requires to be trekked, but compared to Ditumabo, the time you’ll spend trekking towards the falls is relatively smaller. If your guide knows the place well, he’ll be able to drop you off somewhere closer.
Diguisit Falls
A few minutes away, you’ll be able to sample Diguisit Falls at Sitio Diguisit, Barangay Zabali, Baler, Aurora. It’s right beside the road and has to be climbed first. It can get really slippy and muddy at times so people are advised to be very careful when climbing Diguisit Falls.
Diguisit Beach and Rock Formations
We had a picnic here when we celebrated Dan’s victory at the 11th Aurora Surfing Challenge. He won the long board division and celebrated by Diguisit Beach. I’m not sure if we got a discount, but we only got a cottage for P100.00
Baler Fish port
Baler Fish port can be found in Barangay Zabali, Baler, Aurora- the perfect place to chill at.
Baler Hanging Bridge
This bridge was originally made to accommodate the students of ASCOT. For a minimum donation of P5, you can see the view of Tibag-Sabang River and bring with you the bragging right of literally crossing a river.
Dicasalarin Cove
We’ve never been here yet, but we were told that there’s a fee of P300 per person to experience this privately owned cove by the Angaras. The road towards Dicasalarin is also a fun-filled one since you’ll be able to see the sea while you’re on your way to the cove.
WHERE TO EAT
We ‘re really used to doing boodle fights and cooking our own food whenever we can, but there are times when we’re just too tired to go to the market and cook, so we always visit the same places to eat. Basically, our go-to breakfast is either El Teodoro for their Tapa flakes and Nalu Surf Camp for their breakfast meals. If you like a huge variety of options, try Rolling Store, a series of karinderias or turo-turo located in the town proper. We’ve also had dinners at Yellow Fin- a little pricey, but every order can be shared within a group of 4.
NOTES
Be responsible with your trash. There aren’t many trash bins by the beach so it’s best to bring your trash with you and throw them in a bin once you get to your hotel/lodging.
Baler people are the most hospitable and most humble people I’ve ever met. Make friends with the locals and hear their stories.
Listen to your instructor/s.
Do boodle fights.

Together with my friends, we went for a Sagada trip in April 2017 after the holy week. We only planned to go to Sagada. Fortunately, we found a travel agency (Gear Master Travel & Tours in Binan, Laguna) which offers a 3-in-one trip for just P2000 each. It was actually a “joiners” travel so it was really cheap. It covered the transportation, driver’s fee, and accommodation for 3 days-2 nights. Thus, it excludes food expenses and entrance fees, which were very affordable. Well, good enough for a travel experience.
The assembly place was at SMX convention parking lot at 9PM. Due to anticipated traffic in Metro Manila, we went there earlier and spent time strolling at MOA.
Banaue Rice Terraces in Ifugao
Our first stop was at Banaue Rice Terraces and we arrived there around 7am. It was indeed a long trip. Of course, we did not miss taking a photo of the signage. After few more minutes, we drop off at a viewing area where we could good view of the carved mountains. Plus, you’ll be able to see some animal bones displayed. Surely, you’ll be mesmerized by the man-made rice terraces.
Sagada In Mountain Province
If you long for a real mountain retreat, then this is a place to be. After spending our first day morning in Banaue, we went to Sagada and arrived there at noon. The accommodation was really nice (Sorry, I was not able to take a photo of it). Definitely, you’ll know you are at a high mountain peak due to its cool breeze. There are a lot of activities you can enjoy in this place. This was actually the highlight of our trip. We spent one and a half day in Sagada. Caving, trekking, swimming, seeing attractions, eating known restaurants, sunrise & sunset viewing and seeing a glimpse of their culture are few of the things that we were able to experience. (I’ll share with you more of these in my next blog post).
Baguio, the “City of Pines”
Our last stop before going back to Manila was Baguio. It was actually just a quick trip and what we mostly did was just picture taking and buying of souvenirs. We went to Mines View Park, Burnham Park, and Good Shepherd Convent. Maybe all our energy were poured out on the Sagada trip so we haven’t taken the effort to really explore Baguio that much. We were happy enough to set foot in this place. However, my memorable experience getting there was when we drop off at Strawberry Farm Benguet. It was my first time harvesting strawberries and I really enjoyed it. Plus, I got to eat my own fruit of labor.
The trip was indeed tiring but awesome – one of my best trips ever 🙂 I actually wanted to go back to Baguio so I could enjoy again the attractions with all my nerves and senses. Maybe, in God’s time.
Hope this inspires you to visit these places. Feel free to drop some comments/suggestions.

As history has been made leisure activities like the ones continue to increase in popularity. These are not the sort of actions that came from the society of today.
Tours and travels were a part of society. Individuals continued to travel and take part in purchasing their favorite wines, while the assortments of wines were less prevalent. Men and women would take tours around the tasting facilities which would make their brew.
Because this tour tasting wine lovers ended on the field of the with a great deal of pain or perhaps death. Traveling and wine tours is therefore a whimsical expression that describes folk's efforts in amenities which make it and the hunt for their favourite wine travel.
The Wine Tour - Selection of Grapes
In truth the best part of wine journeys and journeys is the wine tasting. That's when you get to taste the wine that you did all your traveling for. Hopefully this will have been a fantastic experience. Only regrettably, the wine that you find yourself tasting is not worth the traveling time.
You hope that the other aspects of tours and your wine travels will probably have prevailed. The process is focused on by this elements. Perhaps it begins with the selection of grapes, transportation and the collection of these to the processing website. Today, The website is where the majority of the technology is being utilized.
Wine Tour Stage two - Processing Plant
The processing plant, which can be used in lots of the larger "jug" wineries is actually intriguing. It might create your wine tours and travels rewarding, if you have an orientation in engineering. Big, possibly even gigantic are seen everywhere on earth.
Thousands of gallons more than an average wino consumes on average in their life, surround the enthusiastic tourist. It can make the trip worthwhile even if the wine is terrible, and you will continue your wine journeys and excursions to destinations.
Better wine is created with infrastructure that may be complicated, but rigorous, such as the wine manufacturer often in tiny batches and from barrels. You'll discover wineries that you search out and sampling and the quantity of the wine you consume make the sophistication of this plant look irreverent as you grow in your wine journeys and tours.
The Trip Home
All good things have to end. Traveling back to your house is the component of wine journeys and journeys. This can be a time of total despair or terrific party.
If you participate in wine tours and have expended your own life savings on travel, I hope that you have selected. It's also hoped that your needs were interpreted by the wine traveling to your satisfaction.
Regardless of this, a life of wine travels and tours, it sort of just like a game of golfclubs. In case you have a fantastic shot you can come right back for more. Based on your experience of tours and wine travels, a bottle that is good will make it possible for you to keep the hunt alive for this 1 bottle of wine that defines your life.
Tours and travels have become a part of the wine fans' yearly itinerary. There are hundreds and hundreds of tours and wine journeys which commence daily and they're becoming more and more popular as the years go by. Wine is such a large industry today and an integral part of peoples' lives that it's hard to feel that it's been around for centuries. People appear to have rediscovered the magic of wine in the previous ten years or so and this has given rise to a new generation of wine travels and tours which try to capture that magic. So they can experience the amount these days, tours and travels take people.
Wine travels and can offer everyone with some thing different to create their trip worthwhile and tours cater for a number of people who have a variety of interests in wine. There are options out there that you cannot fail to enjoy yourself whilst on one!
Grape Choice Wine Travels And Tours
The one thing which people anticipate on tours and wine travels is the wine tasting that brings every trip of a winery to its own conclusion. You can taste all of the wines that you specifically made your trip for, select your favourites and buy a few for your own private use. This will more than likely be a good experience. The way tours and it might taste that bad that you wonder why you bothered with these wine and in which the wine tastes does not set your taste buds alight travels. On the other hand, the fact that you can see precisely how wine is made and also take a look at each of the processes will redeem it to you since it is great to see!
Wine Travels And Tours - The Wineries
There are hundreds and hundreds of wineries over that you may go to the world and they all have traditional ways of creating the wine. You will see a lot of variety when you see each winery so you'll never get bored of hearing the stories and seeing all of the different processes and equipment. Being able to see in which the wine that you drink comes from could be fascinating, and you take a look on the grounds. The winery will surely create the wine tours and travel [http://www.bestwinetourguide.com/Wine_Tours_In_New_York/] worth every penny, even if the wine doesn't!

It is the 10th most populous city in the Philippines with a population of 675,950. It is also famous for its Cagayan de Oro river and the activities you can do in it. It also has a rich culture that is now used as tourist attractions of the place.
Here are 10 reasons why you should go to Cagayan de Oro:
1. To see the St. Augustine Cathedral
This cathedral is the first church that was built in the heart of the city of Cagayan de Oro. It was rebuilt for 5 times due to attacks of non-Christian folks and a bombing during the World War II. It is a tourist attraction in CDO because who would not want to see a church that experienced a lot before it finally came at peace?
2. To see the Museum of Three Cultures
Since CDO has a rich culture, this museum is divided into three parts namely; Kasaysayan(History), Posaka(Heritage), and Rawari. Kasaysayan section consists of the region’s old pictures and artifacts. Posaka section consists of antiques from the Maranao of Tugaya, Lake Lanao. Its highlight is the 14 feet danganen sword owned by Sultan Malimala. Rawari section is where you can find 20th century trade vases and glass containers. It is also where the art exhibits of local artists is related.
Tourists come to this place to see Cagayan de Oro’s historical culture up to its present living. See the order of the sections?
3. To see the MacArthur Marker
The MacArthur Marker is built like MacArthur’s “scrambled egg hat”. It is the representation of his return in the city. The stars in the hat indicates his military rank as a 5-star general in his time. In the center of the monument, there is a replica of USAFFE PT Boat which he used in his era.
This tourist spot is recognized as a historical site by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines. It is visited by new tourists and for those who did not get to visit it on their first CDO trip, why not imitate MacArthur’s “I shall return” and return to visit this one?
4. To join in the Higalaay Festival
This festival is celebrated every August 28 of the year to celebrate the feast of St. Augustine and the feast of settlement of the citizens of CDO. It is also called the friendship festival. It is a week-long celebration that features a lot of contests and programs such as; Kumbira Culinary Show, Cagayan de Oro Carnival Parade, Higalas Parade of Floats and Icons, Fluvial Procession and Higalaay Pyrolympics.
You may be a tourist of this festival but never fear! The citizens of CDO will never make you feel out of place as you join this festival of the City of Golden Friendship!
5. To experience Mapawa Nature Park
If you’re looking for water involved activities then this is one of the right places for you! Tourists enjoy the 20 feet high water slide, 10 feet body rappel on the way down, another 25 feet high cliff jump, and another 65 feet rappel going down.
If you’re a person who enjoys water and heights then this place is just waiting for you!
6. To experience Whitewater Rafting Adventure
An extreme outdoor activity? A chill rafting experience? Whichever current you choose, it is already assured that you will have a fun and fine day while rafting! This activity involves riding an inflatable raft through rough waters of a river or you can choose a less rough way of the Cagayan de Oro river. It is a 22-kilometer rafting ride which makes it adventurous for you and your friends or family!
7. To explore the Macahambus Cave
The Macahambus Cave is where the Battle of Makahambus Hill took place. It is one of the early Philippine-American war site which the Filipino people won! It is the hideout and exit of the soldiers and their families and you have to bend your knees when crossing the middle as it has a low ceiling. On the present day, the inside of the cave is home for a colony of bats. The cave leads to a veranda that is overlooking the Cagayan River. What a sight, right?
8. To explore the Monigue Cave
It’s better to pack extra clothes when visiting this place because the entrance to this cave is a flowing water coming from an underground stream! It means that you’re going to get wet all over before you see its majestic insides. When you got out of the water, you will be face to face with beautiful sparkling formation of Calcium Carbonate. What makes it majestic? The rock formation is huge, but did you know that in order for it to grow an inch, it has to take 50 to 60 years? Nature’s amazing, right?
9. To save money by shopping in the Night Market
If you want to shop and you’re saving, this is the right place for you. CDO’s night market is said to be the closest thing you can have to Baguio’s ukay ukay. The night market consists of different food stands that offers Filipino foods especially street foods. They ukay-ukays sell things that are low-priced and souvenirs to take home to your hometown!
10. To meet the locals
Yes, it is essential that you meet the locals of Cagayan de Oro as they are the most hospitable people you’ll ever meet! There is a reason why the city is called the City of Golden Friendship, of course. The sights might be great, but your CDO visit will be more enjoyable with the company of its locals!
Those are your 10 reasons to visit Cagayan de Oro! Consider it as a trip to widen your knowledge about Philippine history and to be one with nature!

BOHOL CITY TOUR
Nag-book kami ng Bohol City Tour namin via BOHOL TRAVEL TOURS.
Kinontak ko sila few weeks after ko makapagbook ng airline and hotel.
Pinili namin yung - Bohol Countryside Tour B Package - kasi nandon na halos lahat ng mga Tourists Spots with Entrance fees, plus your own driver and Car.
Rate nila is 1,600/person. Kaya 6,400 kaming 4. :)
Mabait sila at madaling kausap. Nung nalaman nila na may Senior Citizen kaming kasama at Baby, yung bagong Toyota Innova na agad ang in-assign nila samin na sasakyan.
Super convenient yun for us. kasi hindi ganon kapagod at madami kaming gamit na nadala.
click here to see the full list of our Tour Package -> BOHOL COUNTRYSIDE B
ayan... picture namin when we arrived at Tagbilaran Bohol Airport via Air Asia.
Thank you pala to Air Asia for our on-time flight.
and sympre, thank You Lord dahil safe po kami nakarating.
Maliit lang ang Tagbilaran Airport.
Good thing that Bohol is now building the Panglao Airport - yan ang sabi samin dito. mas maganda at mas malaki raw. Looking forward na matapos ito agad for all the tourists who wants to visit this beautiful place.
Anyway, going back to our Tour.
Sinundo kami ni Kuya sa Bellevue Resort (hotel namin) as per agreed time.
Then, sabi namin sa Baclayon Church muna...
since we wanted to celebrate Mass. Sunday kasi kami nag-schedule ng tour eh.
Unfortunately, patapos na ang Mass when we arrived. pero we were still thankful na may naabutan parin naman kami kahit papano.
After namin sa Church - sa Phyton Snake.
madami rin namang animals aside from the Phyton Snake, so parang mala-Zoo experience na rin ito for Cassie. pero nakaktakot talaga ang mga Snake.
Next - was the Loboc River Cruise.
Ang saya dito. sobrang nakaka-relax.
kasi ang ganda ng view.
youtube
honestly, yung food is kalmado lang naman... pero ang maganda dito is yung experience talaga.
masaya! :)
tapos, pumunta na kami sa Chocolate Hills.
juzmiyo!!!hehe
so pwde kana magkaron ng souvenir photo dito palang.
pero yung mgandang view "daw” kasi is nasa viewing deck.
kelangang umakyat ng mga 200 steps...
nandito na rin kami kaya sinubukan na namin.
sinama namin si Cassie paakyat...
pero sympre, buhat ni Tatay si Cassie... so doble yung pagod para sa kanya.
nakakatakot kasi mejo mataas sya talaga.
tapos habang pawis na pawis ka at hinihingal dahil sa init at pagod, maghihintay ka pa ng konti para makakuha ka ng magandang pwesto - para makapag-papicture ka.hehe
ayaaaan... juzmiyo!hehehe
so congratulations kung meron kang “fresh” na kuha with the Chocolate Hills view.hehe kasi effort talaga para makita mo yung ganda nya dito sa taas, at makapag-papicture ka sknya.hehe
natatawa ako sa mga kuha namin.hehe walang maayos.haha
hindi ka kami nagtagal pa, after non, bumaba na kami kasi nakakapagod talaga esp na may kasama kaming bata, na hindi naman namin pwde ibaba.
youtube
anyway, after non, napabili kami ng tshirts.hehehe
pawis na pawis talaga kami.hehe
sakto naman, terno pa kaming 3 paghinto namin sa Man-made Forest.
next sa itinerary namin is yung - Tarsier.
sandali lang naman yung iikutin mo dito. para lang talaga makita mo sila ng malapitan. kelangan quiet environment para hindi sila ma-disturb and no flash sa mga camera.
next stop - Butterfly Garden.
maganda rin dito, maganda yung garden nila inside :)
Ang last sa stop namin is yung - Souvenir Shop.
Dito kami nakabili ng mga pasalubong namin. :)
One whole day ang buong City Tour namin.
Helpful na kumuha ng tour kasi unang-una, ang hirap puntahan ang ibang lugar, plus, ang hirap ding pumila para sa tickets. Yung driver na din kasi namin ang pumipila for us, at bumibili ng ticket. Convenient talaga.
Plus, after mag ikot-ikot, makakarelax ka ng maayos sa sasakyan at makaka-recharge for the next tourist spot.
Overall, para sa akin, iba parin na magkaron ng City Tour kapag nasa Bohol ka, kasi mas makikilala mo yung lugar because of history and culture, at mas maaappreciate mo lalo yung ganda nya aside sa White Sand Beaches nito.
Bring extra shirt, water, umbrella - kasi nakakapagod maglibot the whole day.
And sa mga magpapa-picture sa Chocolate Hills, bring extra shirt parin, water at mahabang pasensya. kasi sa totoo lang, nakakapagod. pero pagdating mo sa taas, worth it naman. :)

DOT enjoins CAR stakeholders to help in rebuilding tourism in the new normal
#PHinfo: DOT enjoins CAR stakeholders to help in rebuilding tourism in the new normal
BAGUIO CITY, March 23 (PIA) - - The Department of Tourism calls on Cordillera stakeholders to help in rebuilding a sustainable and resilient tourism industry and enjoins them to re-package their tourism packages to the new normal brought about by the Coronavirus pandemic.
DOT Undersecretary Roberto Alabado III, in the Regional Forum on Tourism Recovery and Business Continuity, bared that DOT is now slowly and safely working for the re-opening of local destinations primarily to boost domestic travels that can help the tourism industry rebound from the loss due to COVID - 19.
Alabado shared that 2019 was a golden year for Philippine tourism with around 8.3 million tourists arrivals and P482 billion in visitor receipts. With the COVID-19, tourist arrivals in 2020 went down by 83.97 percent with 1.3 million arrivals while tourism receipts went down by 83.12% or P81.40 billion.
Anthony Pangilinan, in his inspiration talk during the Regional Forum on Tourism Recovery and Business Continuity with the theme “Re-anchoring and Re-directing our Ships in Evolving Storms” , outlines the need for people to look more on what is happening inside them rather than what is happening to them iin this time of COVID - 19 pandemic. (CCD/PIA CAR)
COVID changed travel behavior thereby opening opportunities for introducing new travel products and services, wherein travel and safety protocols need to be standardized, he said.
Despite the pandemic, sustainable tourism remains to be in the heart oh Philippine Tourism. It will have a fast recovery but it will depend on how fast we can also adopt to the new normal, he added.
DOT currently has the TouRIST program or Transforming Communities Towards Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable Tourism which is geared towards developing more nature – based tourism products, slow travel experiences and at the same time, promoting safe tourism.
DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo – Puyat, in her message, calls on Cordillerans to help inspire people’s confidence to travel again.
“Here (in the regional forum) industry players can come together as one. Embrace the role in inspiring the confidence to travel and take our pro-active steps to get the industry back on track. We are all in this together. The Department of Tourism will continue to support you. We will recover as one. Together we shall rebuild a better and more resilient tourism industry”, Puyat said.
The regional forum with the theme, “Re-anchoring and Re-directing our Ships in Evolving Storms” was attended by Cordillera tourism stakeholders either virtually or personally at the Baguio Country last March 18.
Business World Inc Chairman and media influencer Anthony Pangilinan served as the guest of honor. Other resource speakers were Smith Travel Research Business Manager Fenady Uriarte who talked on Tourism Market Trends and Perspectives while Philippine Tour Operators Association President Cesar Cruz talked on the Role of Operators in Tourism Recovery.
Baguio Country Club Manager Anthony De Leon talked on Developing Strategies Towards a Resilient Hotel Industry and Forest House/Raquel Cuisine owner Racquel Versoza shared her experience in overcoming challenge and rising opportunities in the restaurant industry.
Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong also shared Crisis Management: Local Governance and COVID – 19 Response. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
