here’s renuti’s sprite!! design is something i’ve always struggled with, so advice is appreciated :D

Hey there! Thanks for being patient; life is…well, I think you all know it’s weird rn.

So, when you sent Renuti’s profile in, you kindly gave me the name of your fan adventure! I’ve since read the pages you have up, and I notice that you’re hand-drawing it rather than using sprites! Bearing that in mind, I wanted my redesign to have a focus on colors and simple shapes to make that an easier transition!

I also wanted to differentiate them more readily from Terezi, since unfortunately any tealblood with a wide smile can start to look a bit like her.

Horns -  I wanted to give them 1) a hook to dangle a mic from (that mic is literally just Sollux’s but recolored), as well as to reference their theme. Left horn (your left) is tilted to look like a radio antenna bent to get the signal, while the right one is supposed to look a little like one of those telescoping ones that go straight up.

Hair - I was going for “old-timey radio host who uses too much pomade,” which has the added benefit of simplifying their hair significantly. Template edited from fan-troll.

Eyes - I wanted to go for wider, more excited eyes, and I added glasses since, as a tealblood, they would be able to afford them. It gives them a nerdy vibe while also signifying their social status in a way that would be difficult to shed. Colored a shade between fuchsia and rust to add a pop of color that won’t get them culled lol.

Headphone mike - I colored it lime since the limebloods are an almost natural symbol of revolution

Mouth - kept ‘em toothy while emphasizing the triangle motif from their symbol.

Shirt - this was mostly me trying out a new way to display their symbol; the triangle-shape is well suited to a tie, which is in turn well-suited to a radio personality

Pants and shoes - taken from, of all things, a bagelartnstuff template for Doctor Who outfits and recolored. Works since you said they like Doctor Who, and this gives them the casual vibe of a radio host who nonetheless wears jeans and sneakers to work.

No, we can’t “just” use somebody else’s sprite. First off, I personally wouldn’t feel quite comfortable using somebody else’s fan-made sprites for edits.

And also - all the other characters who didn’t get canon talksprites who we do edits of got a set by one of us. Roxy, Jane, Jake, and Jade. It’s just that we’re missing Dirk for now. We’ll have one someday.

FANTROLL REVIEW POST CLEAR-UP

Do you have a reasoning behind this last name?  It’s usually good to connect it to the symbol or theme, even if it’s in a roundabout way.

This character is going to be in a Fanadventure that I'm working on with my friends, so the name is a mixup of a friend of mine's whos Planet sign is Pluto

I’m a little confused about your troll’s blood color.  It’s not exactly lime, but it’s too bright to be jade.  He could be a mutant, but too many people like to use that as an excuse for non-canon blood types.  It needs to be motivated, you know?

I found a post with all the possible HemoSpectrum shades and I went inbetween Nepeta and a Jade blood. Cause we ( the people I'm doing the adventure with )  didn't want to go by canon too much y'know? 

Okay, here again, this all should be a little more motivated.  If you’re going for a bee theme (which may be tricky, considering Sollux’s affinity for the same creatures), the sparring works.  War history can also work, especially considering his trollhandle.  But the gambling came a little out of left field for me.  Why does he gamble?  And why is he so bad at it?  And what did the trees ever do to him?  This all needs to tie together somehow, even if the connections are subtle.

So although he buzzes a bit he hates the whole bee thing. Thats explained later in the adventure. He grew up with a Bee lusus so he was raised under the whole super structured Bee Hive regimen. Now that he's older he rebels against it by being risky (mainly gambling) unfortunately because he was raised with structure he's awful at bluffing so he's a terrible gambler. He did however put the structure into his Training. He loves to fight, but only when he really needs to will he kill. As far as the Trees go, they're all he has around.

 Okay, once again, if we’re going for a bee theme, you should use something stinger-like.  Maybe a rapier?  A fencing sword?  A pointy stick?  Also, martialartskind doesn’t really work as a strife specibus.  You have to include the object that’s being used, as in Roxy and Equius’s use of fistkind.

Yeah, he mainly uses a Spear. Now that you mentioned about the Strifekinds I'll probably Give him Spearkind and Fistkind.
