How to Get Rid of Your Virginity; a one shot.
💘PAIRING: badboy!jungkook x theaternerd!reader 💘GENERE: College AU, smut, a little fluff 💘WORD COUNT: 4.6K 💘WARNINGS: Smut, smut, and more smut. 💘SUMMARY: You've always been the good girl who followed the rules but you're ready to shed that image and lose your virginity to the college's resident bad boy: Jungkook. 💘AUTHOR'S NOTE: Apparently, I really got into my feelings with this fic. A bit of sweetness at the end but mostly smut. I hope you enjoy!
Opposites attract – at least, that’s what your best friend, Elena, had told you. She had provided you with solid proof too.
“Just take a look around,” she had said, a cup full of vodka and cherry-flavored juice in her hand, motioning toward the various partygoers. She pointed out an art student cuddled up with a girl who looked like she belonged on the arm of a footballer. “That’s Taehyung. His girlfriend is the ‘All-American Girl’ type and he’s a huge nerd. But they’re in love.”
You nodded. “Okay, they’re the exception.”
She shook her head, taking a long sip, wincing at the burn of the alcohol. “Okay, what about them?” She pointed at Jimin. Jimin was your textbook Type-A worker bee. He was known to avoid large social gatherings like this but here he was, leaning against a wall, his girlfriend in his arms. He kissed her lightly on the neck before grabbing a hearty handful of her ass. “That is our resident party girl cuddled up with our best scholar.”
“He’s a fine scholar,” You admitted, and Elena agreed. “Okay, so what’s your point?”
“My point,” Elena began, taking another long sip. “Are that people from different sides of the track get together all the time. Cheerleader and nerd, party girl, and punctual pupil. Nerdy theater geek and super delicious bad boy.”
You were the nerdy theater geek she had been referencing and the delicious bad boy? That title belonged to Jungkook.
You glanced over at him. He was standing between Taehyung and Jimin, effortlessly chatting the night away. Jungkook had been on your radar ever since you started attending this university two years ago. He was an upperclassman, so you didn’t run into him often but when you did, you savored every second you got to gaze upon him. The man was beautiful. But make no mistake, this was not a crush. You thought he was sexy as hell, but you weren’t into him. You were a future Broadway star and Jungkook? Well, you don’t know what his future entailed but it was starkly different from yours. You were sure of it. There was no way you two would work out romantically.
You wanted him for different reasons. More carnal reasons. You wanted him to take your virginity.
But, while you wanted him, you weren’t sure if he wanted you. You didn’t look like his type – you assumed. But Elena was attempting to convince you otherwise.
“I just don’t think he’d be down for it,” you said with a shrug. “I mean, he’s not into girls like me.”
“He’s a man!” Elena said, her voice raised. You knew that was a sign that the liquor was kicking in for her. “He’s into any girl who wants to bone him! Go over there!”
Elena pushed you toward him, but you stopped, glaring at her. “What would I even say? ‘Hey, Jungkook, wanna fuck?’”
Elena nodded and gave you a blank stare. “That sounded perfect. What’s stopping you?”
You groaned. Of course, Elena would think that’s an acceptable way to approach a man but before you could protest, she was signaling Jungkook to come over. Your eyes widened, a mortifying feeling washing over you.
I could kill her, you thought, I could kill her and bury the body beneath the school’s theater.
Jungkook looked at Elena, a confused look etched across his handsome features. Then, he did the unthinkable. He began to walk over.
He stopped just short of the both of you, the wallflowers for the night, and smiled. “Good evening, ladies, how can I help you?”
Elena nudged you and you opened your mouth to speak but found only your pride, self-respect, and the last shred of confidence falling out of your mouth and onto the floor to be stomped on by a slew of drunken college students. Elena, noticing your mouth open and a dazed look on your face, rolled her eyes and blurted out, “She wants to fuck you.”
This is it, you thought, this is how I die.
But it wasn’t.
Because Jungkook’s eyes raked over you, a hint of lust clouding behind them, and smiled. “Oh, really?”
You nodded, fear and excitement striking into your heart.
Elena continued, “She’s been waiting to make a move all night, but she’s been too afraid to.”
Jungkook looked at you. “Consent is sexy, so I have to hear it from your mouth.”
You swallowed thickly, slowly nodding. “She’s not, I mean, I’m not –” You stopped, taking a deep breath. “Yes. Coitus is something I’d like to experience with you – I mean, if you’re up for it.”
He held out his hand. “Well, let’s go experience it.”
“Right now?”
“Why not?”
You looked between him and Elena searching for a reason as to why now wasn’t a good time to get your back blown out, but you couldn’t find one. Not a good one, anyway. So, you put on a brave face, took his hand, and let him lead you upstairs and into the nearest empty bedroom.
You didn't know who this bedroom belonged to as it had no signs of life. A basic dark wood dresser hugged the right wall, a few sports posters lined the walls and a simple full-sized bed with white and blue bedding sat in the middle of the floor. Jungkook took a seat on the bed, and you sat next to him, unable to meet his eye.
“Come here,” he said, cupping your face and drawing you forward.
He wanted a kiss, so you followed his lead, but your nose bumped into his. “I’m so sorry!” You said in a panicked voice. “I – I didn’t mean for –”
“It’s okay,” he said through a small laugh. Another attempt at a kiss was made but instead of bumping noses, you bumped foreheads. He rubbed his forehead, scrunching up his face. “Maybe we skip kissing,” he said, standing up. “How about this instead?” He began to climb on top of you. You readjusted yourself, hoping to make things flow more smoothly but you ended up kneeing him in the stomach.
“Fuck, I am so sorry!” You said as you watched him grit his teeth.
“It’s okay,” he said once again and rounded the other side of the bed. He took a seat and laid back. “Why don’t you come lay beside me?”
You nodded. You got up and laid down next to him.
“Why don’t you lead?” Jungkook suggested and you silently agreed that that might be for the best.
You began to get up but found your elbow stabbing him in the chest.
This was going horribly.
“Are you sure you want to have sex?” Jungkook asked.
“I do,” you said quietly, biting your lip. “I’m just really nervous.”
Jungkook narrowed his eyes at you. “Why are you nervous?”
You chewed on your bottom lip, avoiding his gaze. How do you tell one of the hottest guys on campus that you’re a virgin? A lonely loser virgin?
“If it’s me, then there’s nothing to be nervous about,” Jungkook said. “I’m not as experienced as everyone says I am. I mean, I have had sex with quite a few people – all safe and consensual of course – but I’m nothing like the lothario people say I am. I mean, I’m just –”
You cut him off. “I’m nervous because I’m a virgin.”
The room went quiet. Too quiet. Embarrassingly quiet. If there was a God, he would have taken mercy on you and allowed the world to swallow you at this exact moment. But no, mercy did not shine a light on you this day.
“And you wanted me to take your virginity?”
He seemed more surprised that you had chosen him as your virginity taker than the fact that you were still a virgin. Regardless, you nodded. “Yeah, I figured if I was going to lose it, I might as well lose it to someone hot.”
His cheeks flashed a crimson color. “Don’t you want your first time to be special?”
You scoffed. “First off, virginity is just a construct and secondly, it would have been special no matter what because it’s my first time and I was in control. Besides, I’ve got a bucket list to finish this year.”
Jungkook looked at you. “Oh yeah? What else is on your list?”
“Smoking weed. I’ve never been high before.”
And just like that, Jungkook produced a blunt out of his back pocket. “You’re in luck. Listen, I don’t think the sex thing is going to happen tonight, but I can smoke you out.”
You felt relief wash over you. There was still hope. He said it wouldn’t happen tonight not that it wouldn’t happen ever – hey, it may have been delulu but you were going to take it and ride off with it into the sun. You watched closely as Jungkook lit the blunt, taking a few deep inhales, holding it in, and then exhaling, coughing along the way. Your first few attempts at smoking the joint were failures but after the third try, you got the hang of it. You also coughed a lung out but the serene feeling that flowed through you a few moments later was worth it.
The blunt had been reduced to a roach and you and Jungkook were lying on the bed, laughing and talking about everything under the sun. You learned he was a film major and planned on moving to Los Angeles after graduation to pursue a career out there. When you told him you wanted to be the next Audra McDonald, he didn’t laugh or tease you like so many others had before. He thought your love of theater was cool and asked you a million questions about it. He found it impressive that you could hold such high notes while doing intricate choreography. Finally, a silence settled over the two of you as the green forced you both into an extreme high.
“Can I ask you something?” Jungkook’s voice was like molasses, thick and slow. Or maybe you were just so damn high that’s how you heard it.
“Mhm,” you hummed.
“What’s the farthest you’ve gone?”
“Like traveling?”
He shook his head. “No, I mean … with sex.”
“Oh,” you replied. “Um, I’ve jerked a guy off before.”
“Have you …” he began but trailed off. He turned his head to look at you, attempting to gauge your reaction. “Ever received oral?”
You shook your head. “Nah.”
“You want to?”
You froze, and a sobering feeling hit you like a pillow full of soap. The idea of getting your coochie licked sounded damn good right now, especially with the weed in your system. “Yeah, I mean, I guess I’d like to try it one day.”
“How about today?”
You could still feel Jungkook’s eyes on you. Well, shit. You had already crossed one item off your bucket list. Might as well cross another. So, you said, “Yeah, let’s do it.”
Within seconds, Jungkook was between your legs, lifting your pleated skirt to your hips and sliding your baby pink panties down. Your body froze as you felt a finger slide in between your slits. “A virgin who shaves,” you heard him muse, mostly to himself. A thumb began rubbing your clit and a gasp escaped your throat. Before you could say something else, his tongue was on your lips. Your … other lips. It darted out, parting your lips and flicking against your clit in a feverish way.
Your back arched in response and you felt as if all the air in your lungs had left your body. You found your hands gripping the white sheets as he buried his face deeper between your legs, his tongue sliding in and out of your hole before traveling up and down your slit and finally focusing back on your clit. The sensation became a little too much and you squirmed away, hoping to ease some of the intensity but that only made things worse. Jungkook wrapped his hands around your thick thighs, pulling you closer, spread your legs apart further, and kept his hands gripped on your thighs, ensuring you wouldn’t be going too far. “Don’t run from it,” you heard him whisper.
You’re not sure how long he was at it but by the time your world turned white, you were making noises only a dog could hear.
. . . . .
It wasn’t in your nature to willingly be a third wheel, but the town’s annual spring fair was here and there was no way you were going to miss it. Even if Elena insisted on bringing her boyfriend, Felix. The night wasn’t all bad though. You had spotted Jungkook hanging with a few of his friends and the two of you waved at each other. It had been three weeks since the party and the two of you had kept in contact, texting each other funny memes here and there, sometimes talking on the phone late into the night but nothing more, nothing less.
As the three of you waited in line for the Ferris wheel, you noticed that the ride only allowed pairs. That took care of Elena and Felix but what about you?
“Can you believe that? Since when has the Ferris wheel been limited to two people at a time?” You turned around to face your best friend, but she wasn’t listening. She was too busy using her tongue to excavate Felix’s mouth. You groaned. “Of course, you two would choose now to suck face.”
The line moved forward, and it was your turn to get on. The ride operator gave you a pitiful look. “You got a partner?” He asked but he knew the answer to that. Just as you were about to step out of line to die of embarrassment in a dark and quiet place, your knight in shining armor appeared.
“I’m her partner.”
Jungkook. Sweet, sweet, Jungkook. Sweet, delicious, Jungkook who smelled like heaven and was wearing a red button-up shirt that showed off all his muscles. What? Sue you for noticing!
Jungkook held out his hand and you took it, the two of you loading on the ride and strapping in. Elena smirked at you as the ride began. The ride slowly lifted you and Jungkook up a few feet and then paused, allowing Elena and Felix to board.
“Thanks for saving the day,” you said with a smile. “The Ferris wheel is my favorite ride.”
“No shit, mine too,” Jungkook replied.
Your eyes brightened. “Really? You don’t seem like the type.”
“What type do I seem like?”
“A coaster man.”
“I like coasters too,” he admitted. “But something about the Ferris wheel just calms me, you know?”
“Yeah,” you said. “I get that.”
“So, how’s your bucket list going? Cross off anything else?” Jungkook asked as the Ferris wheel began moving again and then paused, allowing another couple on.
“I have,” you told him excitedly. “Elena and I went skinny dipping two days ago.”
“Damn, I’m sad I missed that one,” Jungkook said with a cheeky smile. “Still a virgin?”
“Still a virgin.”
Jungkook looked at you, his eyes falling to your exposed legs. You were wearing a plaid overall dress and a long-sleeved white shirt underneath. You wondered for a moment if he was judging your fashion choices until he licked his lips and you saw the lust clouding his eyes. “Ever been fingered?”
You shrugged; a sheepish smile found its way to your face. “Only when you ate me out that one time.”
“But never in public?”
“Of course not.”
He looked at you, his eyes begging for permission and as the Ferris wheel began moving again, forcing you and Jungkook to the top, his hands found their way between your thighs. He rubbed your core through your panties. You felt him lean over, his lips brushing against your neck before peppering kisses across your chin. You couldn’t help but giggle as he pushed your panties to the side, and you felt two fingers slide up and down your already-wet slit.
You felt your heart beating faster in his chest when he slid a finger inside and used his thumb to rub circles on your clit. The sensation was quickly becoming too much for you. Especially in public of all places. But as the Ferris wheel worked its way down, you were as well. Your orgasm slowly washed away as the ride finally came to a stop, allowing you and Jungkook to get off.
“Thanks for the ride,” you told him and in response, he kissed your cheek and made his way back to his friends.
…
It was official: You and Jungkook were friends. Like actual friends. You talked to him just as much as you talked to Elena, if not more. You had met his friends and his friend’s girlfriends. You spent time at his apartment. He smoked you out at least once a week and the last time the two of you decided to go on an impromptu diner trip, the waitress mistook you for a couple.
That’s why it wasn’t a surprise when he accompanied you to the library today. You both had papers due and decided to study together. However, you found that the two of you didn’t get much studying done and instead spent most of your time together making jokes and trying to steer clear of the librarian’s wrath.
In an attempt to get some serious studying done, Jungkook suggested getting a table at the back of the library. As you followed him to the back of the library, you noticed a couple, deep within the library aisles, where students rarely went, getting it on. You stopped Jungkook, tugging on his sleeve. “Look!” You whispered. “Oh my god, isn’t that Jimin?”
An approving smile pulled at the corner of Jungkook’s lips. “Yeah. Ever since he met his girlfriend, he’s become such a horn dog.”
You couldn’t take your eyes off the couple. Jimin had his girlfriend leaning on a bookshelf for support, her pants pulled down to her knees and his face buried between her ass cheeks. You hated to say it but it kind of turned you on. Jungkook took your hand and pulled you along.
“He’s not afraid of getting caught?” You asked.
Jungkook shrugged. “I don’t think so. They fuck in the library all the time. That’s actually how they became a couple. He was her tutor.”
You felt a pool of heat settling in your core, forcing a weather change down under. “God, that’s hot.”
Jungkook stopped walking and looked at you. “You want to try?”
“You mean, fucking in the library?” The idea excited you, but you weren’t exactly sure you wanted to get fully plowed in public yet. “I don’t know about penetration but … maybe some head would be cool.”
Jungkook licked his lips. “I can’t lie, I’ve been wanting to taste you again.”
You shook your head as he led you further into the book aisles. “No, I mean I want to give you head.”
He stopped. “You sure?”
“Yeah, teach me how to suck dick,” you said and then cringed once you heard the words. “That didn’t sound as sexy as I hoped it would have.
He smiled, licking his lips. “Say less,” he pulled you into a corner and unzipped his pants. He pulled his jeans and boxers down but only slightly and produced his semi-hard dick.
“You’re already excited?” You asked and then realized this was your first time seeing his dick. No wonder he was known as the lover, you thought, grabbing it and feeling the weight of it in your hand. “Well, shit.”
“You ready?” He asked and you nodded, slowly dropping to your knees. He guided you lovingly on how to properly give head but also explained that everyone was different so the way he liked it wouldn’t necessarily be the way another guy liked it. But the way he liked it was known as the ‘vacuum suck.’ He wasn’t into the bells and whistles of sloppy head but preferred something nice and clean and something that felt like his soul was being sucked out of him.
And that, you did. Or at least you gave it the old college try.
You stroked his large dick, your hand running up and down his thick shaft as your tongue flicked over his head. Precum painted your lips as you attempted to slide his entire member into your mouth. It wouldn't fit and Jungkook didn't force it. Above you, he squirmed in delight, his hands threading through your dark locks, gripping ever so slightly.
“Touch my balls, baby girl,” Jungkook said through a low grunt. Your pussy does backflips at the sound of being called ‘baby girl’ but you can’t linger on that too long. Jungkook has your head in his hands and he’s slowly but surely fucking your face. “Agh … I’m going to cum …” He began to pull his dick out, but you didn't let him, instead you did something that you’ve seen countless times on Twitter memes. You suck harder and you kept sucking well after he came. You’d never heard a man squeal before but you’re sure that’s what Jungkook did before you finally popped his dick out of your mouth.
…
Summer was steadily approaching, the weather going from tolerable to the heat of the devil’s ass crack. It’s why Jungkook had suggested that the two of you head to the coast for the weekend. “It would be way cooler out there,” he had said, and you couldn’t argue. So, on a Friday evening, you climbed on the back of his motorcycle and the two of you headed off to the beach for the weekend.
As two broke college students, you didn’t have enough money to afford a fancy hotel, so you settled for a run-down motel room, but it was clean, and the bed was comfortable enough. Jungkook had purchased every snack in the vending machine that night and the two of you shared stories over eight-dollar bottles of wine, BBQ chips, and sour gummies. After finishing off your second bottle of wine, Jungkook lit up a blunt and the two of you shared it, laying back on the motel room bed with the shabby television playing a novella in the background.
“Y/N, I think you may be my best friend.”
“I think you may be right,” you agreed, laughing.
“I can’t believe school will be ending soon,” Jungkook said.
“I know. What am I going to do without you?” you said, a genuine sadness reaching your voice.
“We’re going to stay friends. You’ll come visit me in Los Angeles and I’ll come visit you in New York. You’ll be there when I receive my first Oscar and I’ll be there when you get your first Tony,” Jungkook said with a smile. And you could hear the sincerity in his voice. Even if none of that happened, in this moment right here and right now, Jungkook believed it did and that’s what you loved most about him.
You always thought love was like an arrow. Shooting you in the heart, causing you to instantaneously know that you had fallen but looking at Jungkook in the darkness of this shabby motel room, you realized love wasn’t like that at all. Love was slow and easy. It was sweet. It was kind. It was a soft spring day. It was impromptu trips to your favorite diners. It was sharing secrets in your most special places. It was laughing to your belly ached in the back of a car. It was trips to eat your weight in sushi and then getting ice cream even though you swore you couldn’t eat another bite. It was wiping your tears away at four in the morning because you didn’t get the role in the school play. It was sitting up all night with each other watching the sun rise because he was too anxious to sleep. It was the perfect and it was the imperfect. It was nothing and it was everything. It was you and it was Jungkook.
And right here, right now, you realized that you were in love with Jungkook.
“Jungkook,” you said, looking at him and he turned his head, smiling that beautiful smile. “I love you.”
He stared at you for a moment, studying your features. A hand reached out and cupped your cheek. “I love you too, Y/N.”
You scooted closer to Jungkook and kissed him. It was a soft and sound kiss. Slow and sensual. And he kissed you back with just as much patience. Your arms and legs tangled together, and soon you found your clothes melting away. You felt his lips wrapped around your nipples, his tongue going across your stomach. His hands stroking your pussy with an excruciating softness. You felt his muscles flexing beneath your fingertips, the weight of his manhood in your hands and then in your mouth.
His body reacted with such pleasure as you gave him head. You sucked slowly, making sure every inch of his manhood was wet with your spit. Jungkook stopped you early, citing how much he still wanted to taste you so you laid you on your back and spread your legs, exposing your most sensitive parts but Jungkook shook his head. He guided you on top of him, and you lowered your precious gem to his face. He licked hungrily. Savoring every drop of you. His hands found their way to your round ass and groped the fleshy curves as his tongue dug deeper into you. An electric wave of pleasure washed over you, your body writhing in sweet agony.
As you lay down beside him, he got on top of you. “Are you sure?” He asked. “If you don’t want to go this far, we can stop right now.”
But you didn’t want to stop. You wanted this. You wanted him. You silently nodded for him to continue and Jungkook rolled a condom onto his hardened dick. He positioned himself at your entrance and quietly said, “Here we go.”
He started slowly. You felt an indescribable pressure in your lower abdomen as he continued to slide in but it wasn’t bad. It was just different. He used his right hand to play with your breasts.
His pace quickened. You closed your eyes, biting your lip as the pressure waned, and in came pleasure. He lifted your legs and placed them on his shoulders. This new angle forced a new sensation to bubble within you. It felt amazing but there was a heaviness to it that you couldn’t quite describe. His hand found your clit, rubbing circles on it as he began to fuck you faster. You didn’t think you could cum twice in one night, but Jungkook proved you wrong. A few short moments later, Jungkook’s face tightened, and he let out a deep grunt before falling on top of you. After a moment, he rolled off.
“So how was it experiencing coitus with me?” Jungkook asked, breathing heavily.
You couldn’t help but laugh. “It was amazing.”
“I’m just glad you didn’t beat my ass this time.”
You cringed, thinking of the night the two of you met. You rolled to your side, putting your arm around him and your head on his chest. In response, he put his arms around you as well, pulling you close.
“What does this mean for us?” you asked.
“It means that I hope you accept when I ask you out on a date,” he said, kissing the top of your head.
“I’ll have to think about it,” you said. “I’ve got one more thing to cross off my bucket list.”
“What’s that?”
You motioned toward the window in the room, outside of it, the beach. “Sex on the beach times two. I want to drink the drink while doing the act.”
With a smile, Jungkook got up and put on his pants. He looked at you, “Well don’t just sit there, let’s go have sex on the beach while we drink sex on the beach.”

Tonight was no different from the other nights Jungkook would waste away.
At least, it began like a regular Friday night party. It was the usual routine of getting high as he made his way to the party, some beer pong, and downing some shots of hard liquor, before stepping out to take a cigarette break. Soon, the night would be a blur and a pain in the ass of a headache to deal with the following morning.
Except, tonight, the people Jungkook usually ignores were extra irritating. So irritating that one guy came up to him mid-puff and asked; “are you still fucking ___? Heard she dumped you and shit, so she’s up for grabs right? She’s here tonight and I heard that she was a virgin before she met you… My guy, did you fuck her out or is her pussy the type to be just as tight as it was when you first fucked her?”
It’s no surprise what happens next.
A little cussing, a little shoving, and a little punch here and there… Suddenly turned into a full-blown fight with other people intervening and pulling Jungkook’s body off the imbecile.
That brings him here.
Jungkook struggles to fit his keys into his apartment locks and stumbles his way to his bathroom. There, runs a shower and steps in. He cleans himself, scrubbing the smell of his vices away. Blankly, he watches as the blood from his hands drips down and goes down the drain. When he finishes, he turns the water off and dries himself. Yet, his knuckles continue to bleed and for a split second, he sees how deep the cut is. His knuckles are absolutely busted. He wipes his foggy mirror and sighs at the sight of his face.
His lip is also busted. His eyebrow piercing is messed up and his eye will probably bruise up by morning. Honestly, he didn’t lose the fight.. But, it sure came with a cost.
Perhaps his adrenaline begins to wear off because his injuries begin to hurt like a bitch. He rummages through his cabinets and hisses, “fucking shit.”
He had no bandaids.
He barely has any ointments to tend to his wounds.
Jungkook winces at the pain as he runs water over his bloody knuckles. He’s been in fights before and even injured his hand a few months ago, but for some reason, this pain hits differently. It aches, it throbs, it feels like it’ll probably scar.
This stresses him out.
If the physical pain wasn’t bad enough, suddenly a million and one thoughts were flooding in and his heartbeat instantly begins to race. He could feel all his emotions come up and it made him nauseous. His head was spinning and before he knew it; his heart was beginning to ache.
He was truly hurting.
He had been thinking of you nonstop these days. It’s not like he ever got over the break-up—how could he? It’s only been three months since you. You two had been together for almost two years at that. How could he suddenly just be okay after three months of no you? If anything, he was only beginning to process the absence of you.
It’s not like he cared if you were at this party or not. If anything, he was happy to know you were around him. Even if you’d probably ignore him or offer him a generic greeting; he’d take it. It didn’t bother him that you were here… What bothered him was the mere idea of you taking one step closer, one fingertip brushing against his as you two bump into each other in the crowd; one moment. One mere second where you’d look at him a little longer than you should. One mere second where you’d smile at him the same way as you used to and then it’d be over.
He’d fall down to his knees and do it.
He’d beg for you.
He’d make promises, fully knowing he’d probably break them within the week. He’d cry and then he’d loathe himself for the rest of his life.
And loathe himself he does the minute he hears a knock on his door.
Quickly, he puts on his grey sweats and makes his way to answer. Without much thought, he swings the door open and it reveals a barefoot you.
“I figured you wouldn’t have any bandaids,” you hold out a plastic bag filled with First Aid materials. “We threw them out, remember? Because you promised me you wouldn’t get into fights and get hurt.”
“Where are your shoes?”
“M-my shoes? Oh. I had heels on. I think I left them at the pharmacy. I ran here.”
Jungkook sighs and shoves his hands into his pockets. He hangs his head low and mumbles, “I’m sorry.”
“I knew you were a bad boyfriend,” you choke, trying your best to keep it together. “But you didn’t need to break your promise.”
He looks up and is instantly wrapping his arms around you as you bury yourself in his chest. In between light sobs, you curl your fists and hit him. “I hate you.”
“I know.”
“I hate you so much,” you utter with as much annoyance as you can. “I really hate you, Jungkook.”
“I know, baby.”
“Don’t call me baby.”
“I—okay. Whatever you want.”
You take a deep breath and lift your head. You sniff as let him wipe your tears with his thumb. Swiftly, you take hold of his wrist and analyze his hands.
“I’m okay,” Jungkook promises. “It’s not that bad. Might need stitches but I’ll just go tomorrow morning. It’s kinda late.”
You roll your eyes at him. It’s just like him to neglect his health and well-being. “Hospitals are 24/7, Jungkook.”
“Yeah, but you’re here.”
A beat.
“So what?”
“You brought me bandaids.”
It feels weird being in Jungkook’s bathroom again.
All you can think about are all the times you two stood side by side, brushing your teeth. How you’d flush the toilet while he was showering or how he’d barge in while you were taking yours. The slow morning back-hugs and the irritating haste of running late to plans.. It’s all in here. It all happened here as silly as it sounds.
Though it’s only been three months, it’s a bit painful to be sitting on the floor with him and patching him up as if the bandaids were going to fix anything. His cuts ran deep and the bandaids only covered the damage. Yet, you two sit there in silence and pretend like this is a solution. Like sticking bandaids on a wound that clearly needs stitches wasn’t an excuse to just be with him again.
“This isn’t the you I know,” you comment, half-heartedly trying to pick a fight.
“It’s the me I’ve always been. I mean, isn’t this why you broke up with me?”
“No,” you shake your head in disagreement with his vile words.
Jungkook bites the inside of his cheeks. “I’m sorry for bringing so much shit in your life.”
“You didn’t,” you reassure him. “You don’t.”
You don’t say anything further. Could you even? The situation is already as horrible as it can be. Now, it has this awkward yet intimate pull on you. It just burns. If anything, you want to say it. You want to spit it all out and tell him everything.
Tell him that you broke up with him because you would’ve stayed through it all. You would’ve bailed him out of every charge pressed against him. You would’ve forgiven him every time he forgot a important date. You would’ve gotten into the car even if you knew he had been drinking. You would’ve skipped every morning class to sleep in with him. You would’ve loved him more than your own life and that horrified you.
Nonetheless, he was always good to you. You just wish he was good to himself. Though you believe him when he told you he loved you; you couldn’t wait for him to change. As much as you love him as he was—the essence of youth, anticipation, and longing he carried soon turned into a mess of anger and fuck ups.
But how could you ever think that as he sits in front of you, hurting, and still completely in love with you?
Jungkook breaks the silence. “Thank you… For this.”
“Don’t thank me,” you say sternly. Peeling another bandaid and eyeing it to perfectly cover his wound, you encourage him; “just do better.”
“I’m trying,” he says softly.
Your heart sinks.
“I know,” you take out an ointment and squeeze a bit on a q tip. Tilting his face, you reach up and apply the medicine to the cuts on his face. “I believe you.”
It’s the truth.
You do.
Jungkook can’t help himself.
He wraps his hands on your wrist, causing you to pause. There’s a look in his eyes—the kind that makes your heart feel utter heartbreak and relief at the same time. It’s devastating… To love someone and want them so bad that it hurts.
“J-Jungkook… Don’t,” you croak, trying your best to keep it together. “Don’t ruin this.”
“Ruin what?”
You push away. “This. I’m trying to be a friend, Jungkook. Don’t make it any more than it is. We broke up—”
“You dumped me,” he corrects you. “When did I ever say I didn’t want to be with you?”
“Jungkook—”
“Please, ___, I’m sorry. Believe me when I say that, okay?” He begs, bringing your hands to cup his face. “I can’t do this anymore. I hate not being with you.”
Your eyes tear up and your walls come crashing down. You hate the way he sounds right now. His voice sounds so desperate and honest. You’ve never heard it sound like this before.. Even when you dumped him, he was silent. This… This is new.
“I don’t know what to say,” you admit. “Why are you sorry? How did it get this way?” It’s the most painful thing you’ve managed to say to him tonight. Your heart continues to break as his breath hitches.
“I’m no good for heartache, baby.”
Your mind spins.
Your stomach feels like it’s just been hit with a gust of wind so strong that you’ve lost all the words and thoughts you gathered before coming over. It’s like every reason you made up on your way here is just being tossed out the window.
“You’re the only thing that ever made sense to me.”
Then, it hits.
You remember exactly why you stayed for so long. Regardless of how much the break-up needed to be done, the truth remains; you and Jungkook have always understood each other. In any language and in any universe, that’s the most romantic feeling to ever encounter. To have the privilege of loving someone and understanding them runs deeper than any cut.
You two stay silent for a moment, trying to process and convince yourselves to take your words back. Anything. Take anything back.
But your attempt fails.
Self-betrayal takes place as you lean in and close your eyes. Jungkook dips his head low and kisses you. Little drops of water fall down the side of your face because of Jungkook’s wet hair. Honestly, if someone had told you it was your tears; you’d believe them. At this point, did it really matter?
For the first time in three months, Jungkook feels at ease.
His sheets still smell the same. They feel the same too. Soft, clean, and just so him.
At first, Jungkook attempts to take charge. Just like before, he had you lie down to take care of you. Unfortunately for him, because of his condition, he wasn’t able to do much. Instead, he hovered on top and took his time kissing you. His hands wandered around your body, ultimately settling for the spot in between your neck and cheeks.
Your hands traveled down inside his pants.
“Calvin Klein boxers are still by far the hottest look on you,” you claim in between kisses. He smiles into the kiss and mumbles; “yeah, yeah.”
You laugh as he attempts to slip his fingers down your panties. He hisses in pain and groans. “I fucking hate this.”
“Oh? I can go—”
“Shut up.”
“Meanie.”
He rolls his eyes at you. “I’m literally trying to get you off and you’re insisting on leaving. Do you resent me that much?”
Shaking your head, you digress. “I don’t resent you.”
He kisses you in response. As he sinks into it, you put your hands on his waist and catch him off guard. You shift your weight and bring yourself on top of him. Making yourself comfortable, you roll your hips on top of his bulge and lift your arms. He sits up halfway and helps you take off your shirt. Without hesitating, he unclasps your bra and wraps his arms around you. He brings you down and kisses you so deeply. Slipping his tongue in and even biting your bottom lip as he breaks away for air. With as much strength as he can, he feels around your breast.
God, this was the worst fucking time to have busted hands.
“It’s okay,” you tell him as you take his hands off your breasts. “Let me take care of you.”
Jungkook gulps but nods and agrees with you. In all honesty, he was tired. He wants you so bad and this was helping him feel relieved. However, it was just too painful and inconvenient to part-take the same way as he used to. He’s glad you understand and are comfortable enough to take over. He’s glad he feels safe and that his ego wasn’t being jeopardized.
He was no less of a man for letting you love him the way you do. If anything, it made him feel another level of security with you.
You lift yourself a little and take his length out. On top, you continue to grind on his velvet skin. It feels so good even with the fabric of your panties. Jungkook moans, beginning to feel the tingly feeling arise. He hooks his thumb on one side of your panties and pushes the fabric aside. He pushes it just enough for your folds to come in contact with his cock.
Oh, it felt so fucking good.
You gasp a little before giggling. “Feels so good.”
Jungkook sharply inhales. “Baby, I’m gonna cum so fucking fast if you don’t start riding me.”
You laugh, but listen to him. You lift yourself up once again and this time, you sink into his throbbing cock.
The precum from grinding on him makes it a little easier for you, but it still burns a bit. You stay still, trying to process the feeling and Jungkook takes a minute to calm his mind. He would literally bust a nut if you moved.
“Okay,” you huff. “I’m good to go. Do you still need a minute?”
“Fuck you,” Jungkook breathes.
“That’s a yes,” you tease. “I need to move or I’ll start to feel icky. You have ten more seconds.”
Jungkook glares at you. “Generous timing. Thank you, baby.”
“Aren’t I just the best?” you laugh, moving closer to him. You squish his cheeks together and place a kiss on his pouty lips. “Times up. Gonna ride you now.”
He takes a deep breath before placing his hands on your hips. You take that as the signal to begin. Also, you can’t help but love this view.
His bare chest and tattoos are displayed so perfectly for you. His damp hair adds to his needy look. If you were standing, your knees would have buckled. Instead—and God bless—you’re here. On top of him, ready to ride the shit out of him.
Easily, you begin to ride him. Every time you sink into his cock, you shift your body. You feel him inside you get harder and harder and love the way you can feel him hit your walls from various angles. It just feels so good to be with him again.
As you ride him, you two fall into the perfect pace. The high kicks in and suddenly the view of your breast bouncing, you throwing your head back, and the way your wet pussy eats him up—he creams inside you.
Satisfied, Jungkook lets out a breathy moan and watches his cum leak out of your pussy. You continue to ride him, but your hips move slower and you lift yourself up higher. Jungkook lifts his hips at one point and thrusts as you bounce. You gasp, unable to fathom just how fucking euphoric this feels.
“Ohhh my god!”
You hit climax and cum.
After all that, your body practically trembles and falls on top of Jungkook. He holds you, runs his fingers through your hair, and tells you how much of a good job you did. As you catch your breath, your breathing stabilizes but also welcomes the sleepiest relief.
As your eyes flutter close and your body fully collapses on Jungkook, he kisses the top of your head and murmurs; “you’re still the one, baby.”
When the sunlight seeps in, Jungkook slowly wakes up.
Immediately, he feels a sharp pain in his hand. He looks over and sees that you’re holding it. His hand is kept close to your chest and quickly recalls the night.
Though he feels a bit embarrassed that he had been that desperate for you; he’s glad it got him here. Yet, a feeling of sadness lingers because he was no idiot.
Though you wake up next to him in the morning, bare and tangled in his embrace, Jungkook knows that deep down; even here—at the very end of you and him—you are you and he remains him.
The sad truth is that Jungkook understood it. He understood you. Which is why, he’ll never tell you why he got into a fight that night and also why he’ll continue to fight for you until the end.
“Even if it’s the end for us.”

jungkook #33 from the fluff list 💗 (even better if its like fboy badboy jungkook getting flustered and shy around oc hehe)
daft pretty boys | jjk
pairing: jungkook x reader
prompt: "i can't think around you."
rating: G
word count: 0.8k
genre/warnings: classmates to .. lovers?, college au, basketball captain!jk, he's neither a fuck boy nor a bad boy he's just a cute boy <3, fluff, swearing as per uzh, i plagiarized MYSELF bc the shit mentioned here was actually taken from my final paper for a film class two years ago lmaooooooo
as always, i’d appreciate any thoughts or comments you may have, and please drop a like and/or reblog if you enjoy reading ♡
If there's one thing that Jungkook absolutely despises, it's when people think jocks are dumb. It's a common misconception and it's downright hurtful sometimes; just because Jungkook is the basketball captain, doesn't mean that anybody has the right to assume he's got hay for brains.
However, if someone were to come up to him right now and say it to his face, he probably wouldn't disagree.
"So yeah, if they lose the memories of these relationships, I think they'd also be losing parts of themselves that make them whole, because an individual's identity is an accumulation of multiple smaller identities they have with every single intimate relationship that ultimately forms one collective identity, y'know?" you finish, and it's not until then that Jungkook comes back down to earth, realizing that he's just been staring at you this whole time. "Anyway, what do you think?"
"Huh? Oh, yeah! Same, uhm," Jungkook stammers. "I also thought about their collective relationsh- I mean, collective identity and multiple identities and-"
You purse your lips as you take in his whole demeanor, like a nervous child fumbling with his words. "Did you not watch the movie?"
He did watch the movie. In fact, Jungkook watched it three times over the weekend because that's how much he liked it. When he registered for this class - History of Popular Cinema - at the end of last semester, he was hoping that it'd be an easy elective so he could focus more on basketball and his core courses. And for the most part, this film class is easy. All he has to do is watch movies and hand in a few short essays every now and then. Piece of cake.
Then the final paper rolls around and the professor assigns everybody a partner to work with. In theory, it should still be a piece of cake, because there still isn't that much to do anyway.
So why is it so fucking hard all of a sudden?
Jungkook had never really noticed you before you became his designated collaborator for the month. Never saw you on campus, never saw you attending the games. Hell, he didn't even know your name until this final assignment.
"I watched it," he defends himself lamely.
"Okay. And?"
"It was good."
You frown, and all Jungkook can think about is how adorable that crease between your eyebrows is. How he just wants to reach across the table and smooth it over, or better yet, kiss it away.
He's fully aware of how stupid he must look, with his sweaty palms and his words falling over each other like goddamn Jenga pieces, in front of a girl that he's been obsessed with for weeks now. Jungkook doesn't normally do crushes, but the more time he spends with you to work on this lame ass paper, the more he finds his mind drifting to you even when you're not in his vicinity.
He thinks you're so pretty when you absentmindedly bite your lip whenever you're concentrating. He thinks you always smell like jasmine, and he's delighted by how your scent lingers on his own clothes after every time you meet, like he's carrying home a reminder of you. He thinks you're ten leagues smarter than him when you text him whole paragraphs detailing how postmodern filmmakers flirt with the concept of identity fragmentation through different types of cinematic manifestation as a reflection of the realistic postmodern person, because what the fuck does that even mean?
"You're not doing a very good job at convincing me you watched the movie," you say.
Jungkook groans internally - and a little externally too - as he runs a hand down his face. "I watched it, I promise," he tells you. "I watched it, and I really liked it. It made me think about a lot of deep shit that I don't normally think about."
"Uh huh," you say slowly. Your frown is still there, but now it's embedded in confusion as you try to understand his dilemma. "Then tell me about that. What was the deep shit?"
"I can't."
"Why not?"
How is he supposed to explain that every single thought he had suddenly grew legs and yeeted itself out the window the second he saw you arrive today, wearing a stunning smile and a t-shirt that says Caution: Full of Shenanigans? Not once in his entire life had Jungkook felt so no thoughts, head empty.
"Because I can't think around you," he settles on being honest. "Because I keep thinking about you when you're not here, yet when you are, I can't even think at all."
It takes a minute for his words to sink into your brain, and Jungkook watches nervously as a blush spreads across your cheeks, so rosy that he just wants to grab your face and pepper kisses all over. For the first time since he has known you, you don't know how what to say.
The sight of you, rendered speechless by him being rendered an idiot, has Jungkook blushing too. Despite the patch of bashful silence that ensues, somewhere outside the metaphorical windows of his and your minds, both your thoughts are riding off into the sunset together, holding hands.

The atmosphere in the office is tense as it has ever been. Long shifts, overtime eating hours off everyone’s rest. The entire bullpen smells of coffee, the one thing everyone has been surviving on. Seokjin pours himself another serving, this time into a large tumbler.
“Guess what I got?” Junsuh enters the break room, tapping Seokjin’s shoulder with a folder of papers in hand.
Seokjin takes a sip of the steaming drink, then smacks his lips together. “More bad news?”
“Why so glum?” Jun watches him shrug it off. “I know things have been hard lately but maybe this will cheer you up; my informant just confirmed that Barome and Kim are planning to leave the country.”
“How is this supposed to cheer me up?”
“Come on Jin,” He knows how drained everyone is, including himself, “Now we know what their next move is. We can get ahead of them. But, we’re still working on getting all the details. Have you had contact with your agent?”
“Yes, earlier.” Seokjin nods, “Operations are going strong. But there’s a lot of unrest over the recent arrests. The two gangs do not trust each other at all.”
“Good.” Jun nods, thinking. “They’re snitching on each other thinking it’ll get them off the hook. Kim and Barome really fumbled the bag on this one. Joining forces was the worst thing they ever did.”
“And the best thing for us.” Seokjin finally smiles.
“I heard you got some new evidence too?”
“Yeah, a ledger with a hell of a lot of contacts in it. It’ll take time to decipher though, they used some kind of code.” Seokjin says. “The team’s still working on it.”
“Great.” He checks his watch, then removes the tumbler from Seokjin’s grip just as he’s about to take a sip. “Go get some sleep. You need to be well-rested, we’re gonna be moving in on them any time now.”
“That’s exactly why I can’t get any sleep.”
“You won’t be any help if you’re exhausted. Go get some hours in.” He says. “I’ll help you do whatever’s on your list tonight.”
Seokjin hesitates. It feels like gravity is tugging on his eyelids as he struggles to keep them open. “I have to update the task force. They need blueprints of our possible locations to mark their positions.”
“No problem. I’ll get it to them.”
“Alright then,” Seokjin brings Jun over to his desk, handing over the relevant materials. Reality starts to sink in then, watching as Jun goes through them. “This is really about to go down, huh?”
Jun looks up, a similar look of excitement on his face. “Right? It hits me at random times too. We’ve invested so much time and energy into this. I can’t wait to finally end it all.”
“I just hope nothing…or no one, stands in our way…”
𝄖
You feel weighed down, your entire body resisting the urge to move. Your eyelids droop back down every time you try to open your eyes. Turning to your back, you realise you can’t move your arms much, nor can you pull them apart. You force your eyes open and everything’s blurry at first. It’s dark, so you can’t really tell where you are yet. But it’s stuffy and oddly quiet.
You can hear talking a little further away, and you groan, making any kind of sound in an attempt to ask for help. Footsteps make their way towards you. A minute later you feel a presence right by your side.
“Where am I?” You ask the blurry figure.
“Don’t worry, you’re safe.”
That voice. It’s so familiar. If your head didn’t feel so fuzzy maybe you could place it. You feel shifting of some kind; whatever you’re lying on sinks slightly as they take a seat. You blink, over and over till your vision comes back. And that’s when your heart sinks.
“Hongjun?” Your eyes dart from his face down to your taped wrist and ankles. “What the fuck?”
“Shh,” he hushes, “don’t hurt yourself.”
You look at him, disgusted. “What did you do? Where am I? Where’s Jimin?”
“Who?” He scrunches his face. “Anyway, sorry you couldn’t make the train.”
The train. The station. It starts to come back to you. You were waiting for Jungkook at the station when Jimin left for the restroom. Then minutes later, a man comes up to you and tells you something’s happened to Jimin. Not thinking much of it, you get up to follow him and the next thing you know, you feel something poking against your side.
“What’s going on?” You ask softly, and he pokes the barrel into your flesh.
“You make a scene, and I’ll start shooting.” He says. “Be quiet and follow me.”
He’d led you to a van, all the way at the end of the parking lot where there were fewer cars and people. You remember being pushed into the back of the vehicle, roughly handled by a pair of hands, then your memory goes blank.
“What do you want from me?” You ask, looking around.
You make it out to be an abandoned multi-storey car park. It’s dark and run-down, mould covering the walls, and no cars: the only ones you see belong to Hongjun and his men.
“I know you’re the snitch. And unfortunately I have to do what’s right and turn you in.” He says, as if it pains him to do it.
You try to free your wrists. “It’s not me!”
Hongjun chuckles. “You can stop pretending, seriously.”
“I’m not pretending, you idiot.” You try to push yourself up into a seating position. “Why would I sabotage my own boyfriend?”
“I don’t know, maybe you made a deal with the police.” He shrugs. “Heck, maybe even he’s in on it.”
“Leave him alone.”
“Funny,” he snickers, looking at his members as they share a laugh, “he said the same thing when he came looking for you!”
“Jungkook? Where is he?”
“Yeahhhhh about that…” Hongjun clears his throat and presses his lips into a thin line. “He was erratic, super unstable. So we had to…stop him.”
“What does that mean?” You ask, looking at the three of them. Hongjun’s mock sadness is annoying you and you can only think of the worst. “What did you do to him?”
He stands to leave, ignoring your question. Then he points towards a small table by the end of your mattress. You now realise you’re resting on a makeshift bed; a thin mattress on top of an old, steel foldable table.
“You have water and some food. Eat up. Don’t want you dying before your execution.” He says before walking away.
Execution?
“And listen up,” he meets you at eye level, “if you even think about escaping…I know where you live, and I have people standing by, awaiting orders. So unless you want anything to happen to your roommate…you get what I’m trying to say right?”
He walks away even before you can react. Pressing your back against the wall, you take some time to process that this isn’t just a dream. You run your wrists over your pockets but they’re empty. They’ve taken all your things.
Your head hits the wall with a thump. You can hear them, but can’t see them. The wall you rest on turns into a sharp corner to the left, and that’s where you think they’ve set up base. Across from you, against one of the pillars, rests what looks like stacks of packages.
Oh. You realise what they are. Drugs. Tons of them, stacked up against each other. There’s a small square table next to the drugs, and on it you see a laptop screen opened up to an excel sheet. But you also notice your stuff. Your watch, your phone. If only you could get to it…
𝄖
Namjoon watches as the nurse wraps a gauze around Jungkook’s thigh, keeping the bandage in place. Jungkook lies motionless on the bed, staring at the ceiling in despair while pressing an ice pack to his head.
“Please don’t put too much pressure on your leg.” The nurse advises. “You’re all set now. Don’t forget to collect your medication.”
When he doesn’t respond, the nurse looks at Namjoon who apologises on behalf and thanks him. Even after he leaves, Jungkook doesn’t budge.
“If you’re just gonna lay here all night, you might as well have gotten shot in the head.” Namjoon says, eliciting a threatening look from Jungkook. “You’re lucky the bullet only grazed your thigh.”
“Still hurts like hell.” He lifts his head to look at the wound. A large gash over the back to the side of his thigh, flesh ripped open by the bullet grazing past, now stitched and covered.
“I’m sure getting knocked on the head didn’t help either.” There was a metal pipe next to Jungkook when Namjoon found him.
The aching of his head makes him dizzy. He pushes himself up and groans at the throbbing pain in his thigh.
“He took her.” Jungkook says. “They had her all tied up. She was unconscious.”
“We’ll find her.”
“How do you know that?!”
His voice blasts through the room. Namjoon doesn’t tell him to calm down, fully understanding the state of anxiety he’s in. When Jungkook hadn’t returned his calls, Namjoon tracked his phone, and found Jungkook lying on the cold floor of the abandoned warehouse. He only regained consciousness halfway to the hospital.
“I’ll make sure that we get her back.” Namjoon says.
“Can you go now? Go look for her.” It’s the first time Namjoon has heard him speak to him in this way. The tenderness in his voice, begging for him to go and save you.
Namjoon looks at his leg. “I can’t just leave you here. Let me send you home first.”
Jungkook doesn’t respond. As Namjoon holds on to his arm, he looks at his leg, then wills himself to push off the bed and onto his feet, wincing from the pain. All he can think about is you. If anything were to happen to you, he wouldn’t be able to forgive himself.
Jungkook sits quietly on a bench outside while Namjoon collects his medication and settles the bill. He checks his phone and tries to call your number. It cuts off. He scrolls through his contacts, looking for someone, anyone he could try to ask for help from. Then he stops when he comes across Hoseok’s name, finger hovering over it.
“What the fuck happened?”
Suga appears in front of him, eyeing the injury. Jungkook hadn’t even realised when he showed up. He looks up with a blank stare. “I got shot.”
Namjoon comes out of the doors just then, a bag full of medication in hand. “By who?” Suga looks at Namjoon but he looks back at Jungkook.
“Taeho.”
Anger was visible on Suga’s face. It twists to disgust, then back to normal as he tries to remain calm. “What is their fucking problem? What did you do?”
Namjoon holds him back. “He’ll explain along the way. Now let’s just go get him home.”
“Fine.” Suga says, turning to leave. “Let’s go before the police come and ask questions.”
It’s 3AM when they finally leave the hospital. Jungkook walks slowly, favouring his left leg to balance the weakness on his right side. He stubbornly refuses to use crutches, so Namjoon holds on to him instead while Suga carries the crutches. Jungkook lifts his leg to get into the car.
Suga glances at the two of them. It’s silent. He’s the only one without the full story of what happened. He wants to ask, but something tells him he’s not going to like it. He quietly asks Namjoon to drop him off somewhere near the apartment.
“I’m gonna settle something.” He says, then looks back at Jungkook. “Go home and get some rest.”
“I’m not going home.” Jungkook says and Suga looks at him weird.
“Where could you possibly be going in this state?” He asks.
“I need to go look for Y/N.”
Suga’s face scrunches up in confusion. “What?”
“You can’t go. Not like this.” Namjoon looks at him from the rear view mirror. “I’ll send you home, then I’ll go look for her.”
“No! I have to go!” Jungkook yells, tearing up. “This is all my fault! She needs me…”
Suga goes back and forth between them. “Will someone tell me what’s going on? I feel like I missed a chapter.”
It gets quiet again. Jungkook finally speaks up, “Hongjun’s got her.” He sighs, controlling his breathing. He can practically hear the questions running through Suga’s mind. “He wants to get back at me. He came down last week and…some things were said. We got into a fight and I may have taken it too far. He’s using her to get back at me…”
“Are you sure he took her?”
“I saw it with my own eyes. She was there at the warehouse.” Jungkook shakes his head. “I was going after them. That’s when they shot me. I was trying to save her…”
Suga can’t decide if he’s more in disbelief over this situation or the fact that even after all this time trying to keep the two of you apart, you’re still somehow causing him trouble. He looks at Namjoon who tries to avoid his eyes. Then he brushes it off, “Let’s just go back to the apartment first. I’ll update Kim on your status. There’s a lot going on and Kim and Barome are⎼”
“I don’t give a fuck about any of that!” Jungkook screams.
Suga exhales, trying not to let Jungkook get to him. “Fine, then let’s go and check Hongjun’s bases together and get her back.” Suga suggests, “Or, we can go straight to the Captain and tell him what Hongjun’s done. We don’t have to tell him who Y/N is. Plus once he finds out they shot you, I’m sure he won’t even care about her.”
“We can’t do that.” Namjoon says.
Jungkook wills himself to look Suga in the eyes. “Hongjun wants to blame the leaks on Y/N. He thinks she’s working as an informant.”
“Oh.” He says.
Jungkook can feel Namjoon’s eyes glaring at him from the mirror. He’d left that part out initially. But it now makes sense to Namjoon; the fight, the kidnapping. Hongjun was reckless but even he wouldn’t go after you if there was no reason to.
This makes it tricky. Involving the bosses now would only benefit Hongjun in the end. The only way they can save you is to settle it themselves.
“I need to go find my friends.” Jungkook suddenly says to Namjoon.
Namjoon thinks it’s a bad idea, but he goes along with Jungkook’s request. Suga sits quietly, not having much to say but a lot to think about. He decides to be dropped off at the club instead, without saying goodbye to Jungkook as he leaves.
Jungkook doesn’t care much, occupied on his phone. He had texted Jimin, telling him he’d be coming over. So when the car pulls over in front of your building, he sees all three of them waiting by the front. They watch as Jungkook opens the door, fully expecting you to appear behind. But they’re left disappointed with the empty seat behind him.
“What happened?” Hana asks, eyeing his injury. Namjoon supports him out of the car.
“Hana I’m sorry.” Jungkook’s head hangs low.
“You couldn’t find her?” Jimin helps him up on the other side.
Jungkook sighs. “I found her. But I couldn’t get to her. There’s this guy…he’s the one behind it.”
“Where is she now?” Hoseok asks, stepping closer. Hana grabs hold of his sleeve, making sure he doesn’t get too close.
His presence doesn’t bother Jungkook, not right now at least. Not when all he can think about is you. “They got away. I tried to save her but…” He looks down at his leg.
“Oh Jungkook…” Hana sighs, biting her lip at the redness spreading under the gauze.
“At least you know who it is.” Jimin says, “Let’s go make a report.”
“They’ll ask a lot of questions.” Namjoon says, and Jungkook nods timidly. “We can’t afford that.”
“Then what do you suggest we do?” Hoseok says, “Wait until something bad happens to her?”
“I’ll fix it.”
“You can barely walk.”
“I said I’ll fix it!” Jungkook yells, then catches himself, holding up his palm to apologise for raising his voice. “She’s still alive. I can still find her.”
“She’s still alive? Are you implying she might not be soon?” Hoseok fumes. The rest exchange worried looks. “Was it Hongjun?” Hoseok asks, ignoring the warning from Hana, signalling him to stop.
Jungkook looks at him for the first time. “How did you…how do you know about⎼”
“Hongjun and Y/N started contacting each other a while ago. He wanted you out of the group.” Hoseok says, “And so did she. We all warned her against it, but she was dead set on working with him because of you.”
“Wait,” Jungkook shakes his head, “they what?”
Jimin leaves Jungkook’s side and pushes Hoseok back with a hand to his chest, muttering for him to cut it out. Hana goes up to Jungkook. “It was Hongjun, he manipulated her.”
“But I didn’t even know…” Jungkook furrows his brows, pressing his thumb and index finger across his forehead, suddenly feeling a migraine coming on. “So they were talking to each other?”
“It was her choice.”
“I can’t believe it…” Jungkook groans when his leg starts to ache, bending over a little. “Why would she do this…”
“Because she loved you that much.” Hoseok says, bitterness in his voice. This time Jimin forces him away, back to the apartment. He does so but only because he can’t stand to listen to Jungkook anymore.
As he leaves them, Jungkook drops to his knees, groaning through clenched teeth at the pain in his leg. Tears start streaming down his face at the same time. “I’m so sorry. This is all my fault…” His words start to slur.
Hana kneels before him, bringing his head to rest on her shoulder in a hug. “Jungkook, don’t be like this. She did it for you, it was all on her own accord. It’s not your fault.”
“But, I⎼”
Jungkook’s head gets heavy on her shoulder, body weight slowly dropping entirely onto her. Namjoon and Jimin rush to help. “Are you okay? Jungkook?” Jimin pats the side of his face but there’s no response.
Namjoon shifts him so that he’s lying on his arm instead. He checks Jungkook’s eyes, breathing and pulse. “His pulse is weak. He’s exhausted.”
Namjoon stops Jimin from calling the ambulance. Jungkook would be upset having to wake up in the hospital again. With Hana’s permission, they bring him back to the apartment and let him rest on your bed.
“It’s fine, let him rest here for tonight.” Hana says, holding onto Jungkook’s hands which have gone cold. She covers him with your blanket and makes a silent prayer by the side of the bed before leaving him to rest.
𝄖
The club just saw its last customer. Bouncers go on their rounds, checking for strays while the cleaners get the work, and the bartenders get wiping. While everyone gets ready to leave, Suga enters, bumping into Bella just as she comes down the steps, bags in hand.
“Hey you.” She says, “A bit late to the shift.”
He huffs out a tiny laugh. “Bye.”
“Wait, no cheeky remark? No insults?” She follows him into the pantry, “Something’s up. Spill.”
“Hasn’t your best friend updated you yet?”
“Who?”
“Jungkook got shot.”
“What?!” She all but shouts. Suga stares at her, like she should know better. He nods for her to shut the door.
“He’s fine.” He says before she can ask. “Huge gash on his thigh though.”
Bella takes a seat, relieved that it wasn’t anything too serious. “What happened?”
Suga chuckles, finding the whole thing amusing. She smacks him on the leg and he scowls. “It’s Y/N. I have no idea how it happened, but Hongjun kidnapped her.”
Bella’s heart skips a beat. Hongjun got to you. She knew Hongjun would try to come for either Jungkook or you. But Jungkook can handle himself. Knowing that Hongjun chose to go after you instead makes her sick to her stomach. You must be so afraid.
“Jungkook tried to save her but Taeho shot him. Y/N’s still with Hongjun.”
“We have to do something!” Bella urges, placing her hands on his arm. “Can’t you call for backup? We can all go and save her!”
He shakes his head. “Things are too complicated.”
“Complicated?” She scoffs. “She’s in a lot of danger, she needs our help. I know you don’t like her much but she’s just an innocent person that’s been dragged into our world. Jungkook can’t do it alone. They need us.”
“How sure are you that she’s innocent?” Suga asks her. “Did you know Hongjun thinks she’s been giving the police information about us?”
Bella gulps. She pretends as if she hadn’t known. “That’s ridiculous.”
“Is it?”
“And so what if she isn’t all that innocent? You’re telling me you’re just going to sit back and watch Hongjun hurt her? So it’s only okay because you’re afraid she’s gonna sell you out?”
“I never said it was okay⎼”
“You’re just a coward.”
“Enough. I⎼”
“You’re just like Hongjun.”
“Bella!” Suga raises his voice, brows furrowing at her. She goes quiet. “If you would shut up for a second…I was about to tell you I’ve already called in favours and have people out there looking for Hongjun.”
She softens the look she’s giving him.
“He hasn’t gone back to any of his bases as of yet. He knows we’d look for him there.” Suga says. “But there has to be someone who knows where he is. And I’ll find out where that is.”
Bella looks down, feeling guilty over her little outburst. “Sorry.”
“Whatever.” He brushes off her apology. “I’m only doing this for Jungkook.”
𝄖
It’s noon when Jungkook finally comes to. His head is heavy and his stomach burns. But being in your bed keeps him calm, the smell of your sheets, traces of you everywhere, the photo of the two of you on your bedside table. He gets up slowly, only managing to get onto his elbows before groaning in pain.
Hana comes in a while later, having heard the commotion. “How are you feeling?” She asks, placing a hand on his forehead.
“I’m fine.” Jungkook says and she rolls her eyes. “What time is it?”
“It’s noon.”
“What?” He shoots up, “I have to go. I have to go get her.”
Hana stops him. “No, stop. Namjoon’s handling it. We decided to make a police report.”
“Oh my god…” He lies on your pillow, rubbing his eyes with his palms. “She’s probably really scared right now. She probably thinks I abandoned her and allowed this to happen.”
“Do you really think she would think that?”
“Was she and Hongjun really contacting each other?” He sits up, completely ignoring her question.
Hana makes herself comfortable on your bed. “She thought it was one way to help you. She knew Hongjun was only thinking of himself, but she figured despite that, she’d get to save you.”
Jungkook shakes his head, sighing. “She should’ve known better. I’ve warned her about Hongjun.”
“You’re not the only one.” Hana nods. “Namjoon did too. So did I. But she wanted so badly to do something.”
“Wait Namjoon knew about this? That idiot. He should’ve told me.”
“He told her off when he found out. And she felt really bad about it, so she decided to end things with him.” Hana continues, “But Hongjun was persistent. I don’t think he liked it when she backed out so suddenly. The last time I believe…he sent her a video of you…”
“What video?”
“You were at a party of some sort…celebrating?”
“No.”
“And there was a guy on the floor…”
“No no no no no…” Jungkook mumbles, dropping his head into his hands. “No! Does she know about that? Holy shit. Holy shit.”
Hana gives him a minute, watching quietly as he absorbs this information. At one point he covers his eyes with his palm and when he pulls away, she sees the glistening of his pupils.
“How did she react?” He asks quietly, voice trembling.
“She was shocked. We were shocked.” He drops his head. “But she never believed that you would intentionally hurt anyone. She never lost faith in you.”
Jungkook thinks back to the night you had seen him hurt Hongjun. Now it makes sense. You were so affected by it. And it’s because he had confirmed what you were denying the entire time. That he was capable of ending someone’s life.
“…I really fucked up huh?” He says after a while.
“Yeah,” she says and they laugh.
Jungkook’s laugh dies down and he starts to move, though his leg makes it difficult. “I have to try and find her.”
“You know, you’re just as stubborn as she is. I can see why you like each other.”
The doorbell rings just then and Hana goes to get it. Meanwhile, Jungkook tries to get himself out of bed. He finds his phone on the bedside table, and a bunch of texts had come in from Suga from a few hours ago. He opens the chat to see links which opens up the map app on his phone.
Namjoon comes in, carrying some food and Jungkook immediately shoves the screen in his face.
“What’s this?”
“Hi to you too.” Namjoon says, squinting at the screen.
“What are all these locations?”
“Suga narrowed down the locations Hongjun might be at.” Namjoon explains. “He worked to get info all night. Called in a bunch of favours.”
“He did?”
He nods. “Right now we've got men scouting those places and seeing if they spot Hongjun or his men in the area.”
“Why would he do that?”
“Who?”
“Suga. He really did all that? He tried to find her?”
Namjoon shrugs. “I guess he really cares for you.”
“And how?” Jungkook looks at the chat. “There are so many locations. You’re telling me people willingly gave up this info?”
“You’re surprised?” Namjoon raises a brow. “Hongjun has a lot of enemies. Even the people in his own district don’t get along with him. Most of them are glad he’s gone so they don’t have to deal with him anymore.”
Jungkook sighs out in relief, smiling for the first time since yesterday. “Okay so we should go, we have a lot of ground to cover.”
He stands, only to clench his jaw to keep himself from screaming in pain. Namjoon pulls him back down. “Will you slow down? At this rate, you’re never gonna heal.”
“We’re wasting time!” Jungkook reasons. “We know where he is, we can go get her right now!”
“These are the places he might be, and I already told you, Suga’s got people on it. Once we can confirm his location, we’ll make our move.”
“What if it’s too late?”
“He won’t do anything to her.” Namjoon says. “He needs her alive.”
𝄖
It wasn’t as easy as Suga thought it would be initially. Most of the other locations turned up empty. He waits at a nearby coffee shop, sitting by the window, dressed down so he wouldn’t attract too much attention. He pulls his cap down further when he notices a familiar figure across the street.
An acquaintance standing right outside the shop, smoking by a street lamp, turns to him and nods. He had tipped Suga off after having noticed Hongjun in the area a few hours ago. A day has passed since you were taken, and since he found the possible locations. Jungkook is still at unrest.
Suga nods to his acquaintance and gets moving, placing some cash on the table before leaving. The man walks a safe distance away, careful not to alert Taeho of his presence. He manages to get far enough to know where Hongjun might be.
He relays the information to Suga, who then meets him halfway back.
“He was headed north. Small neighbourhood up there.” He says. “My guess is that they’re hiding out in one of the old buildings. That town was vacated for an upgrade years ago, but nothing ever came out of it. Pretty much abandoned. Perfect location for them.”
“Thanks.” Suga says, slipping him some cash. “Drop by for drinks anytime. On the house.”
“I’ll hold you to that.”
“I know.” He mutters. “Actually, I’m hoping you could just keep looking out for a while? I gotta go back and I don’t wanna risk losing him.”
The man shrugs. “As long as I get paid.”
“Here.”
He unfolds a stack of cash from his pocket, counts the bills and hands it to his acquaintance. “You’re the man.” He shoves it into the inner pocket of his jacket and walks off.
Suga checks his phone. He’s running late; the captain had called him in today.
𝄖
It’s unusual for the captain to ask anyone to come over to his place. Their normal meetings usually happen in the office or over coffee. Suga rings the doorbell and a familiar, large man greets him, holding the door open for him to enter. Suga walks into the large two-storey apartment feeling small. He stands awkwardly in the middle of the place, waiting.
“You’re late.” The captain says, coming down the stairs.
“I was busy.” He says, “I’m here now.”
The captain sounds annoyed but his face doesn’t show it. He looks distracted. “What happened to your partner? He got shot?”
Suga walks over to the couch where the captain gestures to him to take a seat. “How’d you know about that?”
“What? You thought you could keep it from me?” He scoffs. “I called him earlier.”
“Oh. He’s fine though.”
“You should’ve reported it in.” He says and Suga stays quiet. In his defence, he was going to, until he found out about how you were tied to it.
“Didn’t think it was necessary. He’ll be back on his feet soon.”
The captain looks at Suga as if he should know better. “It’s still protocol. You of all people should know that.”
“Alright. Sorry.”
“Who was it? A cop?”
“No, just a random fight that escalated.” Suga says, hoping Jungkook hadn’t told him anything else over the phone. It’s unlikely that he would. “You know him, he doesn’t know how to back down from a challenge.”
“Why would he let it get that far?” He narrows his brows. “Are you sure that’s what happened? You’re not keeping things from me, are you?”
Suga shakes his head. Captain doesn’t seem to believe him at first, keeping his eyes locked on him as if it would break him the longer he does it. But then he eases up, and Suga almost lets out a breath in relief. He then reaches over the coffee table for a bottle of whiskey and two glasses. He pours himself and Suga a drink.
“Better not be. I don’t need anyone else giving me trouble.” He hands Suga the drink. “You guys are some of the few I still trust.”
“Still?” Suga watches him take a sip then down the entire glass.
The captain sighs, eyes glazing over for a few seconds. “There’s a lot of noise out there and in our organisation. It’s hard to tell who’s on our side and who isn’t. But we’ve known each other for years, and if there’s anything I know, it’s that I can always count on the two of you.”
Suga smiles. From the way the captain speaks, Suga knows things are bad. “Of course you can.” He says, “We’re a team.”
The captain nods. “You need to stick together to matter what.”
His words are laced with warning. “Why?” Suga eyes him curiously. “What’s going on?”
“Code red.” He says. “We’re going into lockdown.”
Suga’s lips part. A lockdown works to reduce the chances of them getting caught. It would mean ceasing contact between members for months, cutting down public appearances. They had been on lockdown once, years ago, when the police were right on Kim’s tail. He managed to escape after eight months of no activity.
“You want us to go dark? When?”
“As soon as possible. Clear any remaining orders and tell you clients you won’t be supplying for the time being. Then disappear. You still have access to your safe house?”
“Yeah but, didn’t Kim say a while ago that we didn’t have anything to be worried about? Plus, if all of us go dark, what will happen to our operations? Like the club…”
“Ops will go on for the rest.”
“Wait, what are you saying?” Suga tries to wrap his head around it. It was different during the first lockdown, their organisation wasn't as big as it is now. They didn’t have as many members back then. “So we’ll go underground and everyone else won’t even know why? Will they be warned?”
Suga thinks back to the conversation he had with Jungkook, where he predicted the bosses would do something like this, prioritising their own safety. Everyone else, are pawns in their eyes.
“No, don’t say anything.” The captain notices Suga’s hesitation. Something he finds unusual, knowing Suga isn’t the type to question their orders. “Business has to go on. Just…without us. We need to remove ourselves from the spotlight. Plus, your staff aren’t wanted men, we are. They’ll get off easy, we need to save ourselves.”
“And these are Kim’s orders?”
He nods. “Actually, Kim’s already underground. Barome too. They made some arrangements. Don’t bother trying to find them. Once I settle everyone else, I’ll go dark too. You won’t find me then.”
“Can I at least tell my staff? We personally selected these people, I know they won’t⎼”
“You still don’t get it, do you?” The captain gets annoyed. “Everyone who knows is a risk. Unless you want someone to put a bullet through their heads, I suggest you leave them out of this.”
Suga jaw clenches. He nods.
The captain tilts his head, watching him. “You worried?”
“Aren’t you?”
He takes a deep breath. “It’ll be fine. We’ve done it before. And just so you know, Kim specifically chose those he wanted to go into lockdown. He doesn’t want to lose his best.”
But what does that make everyone else? The question plagues Suga’s mind for a while until he questions why he cares, when he never did before. He would never have thought twice about following Kim’s orders previously. He blames it on Jungkook.
“I’ll get the other two updated then.” Suga says quietly and the captain nods. He stops before pushing himself off the couch. “By the way, have you heard from Hongjun?”
“That son of a bitch has been calling me non-stop.” Captain says, shaking his head. “Sent them all to voicemail. Do you know how much shit he’s put me through? Not only has he been MIA, apparently, Kyun tells me he hasn’t been fulfilling his clients’ orders and ghosted them more than once. I’ve been trying to sort things out with them just so they won’t turn on us.”
“Why’d he do that?”
“Fuck knows why he does anything.” Captain sighs. “I mean I know he’s been ghosting Kyun, ignoring calls. But I didn’t think he was jeopardising our ops like this. And his clients are the worst, dirtiest bastards out of all our clients. They’d turn on us in a heartbeat.”
Suga nods, but the Captain isn’t done.
“Still, Kim wants him on lockdown too.” He sighs. “He’s a liability.”
“He’s always been a liability. It’s amazing he’s lasted this long.”
The Captain gives him a look and Suga shrugs. “Actually, could you tell him about the lockdown? I don’t want to speak to him right now, I have a lot to do.”
“Why me?” Suga frowns. “I have to get my affairs in order too.”
“Because I say so.” The Captain raises a brow. “Tell him to return the drugs to HQ if he’s not going to supply them to his clients. I’ve already settled it with them anyway. He’s got to find new clients cause they’re not gonna work with him anymore. But first things first, go underground, the sooner the better. Last I heard, he abandoned his last hideout. So you’ve got to go find him yourself, I’m sure you have the resources for that. And tell him not to call me. Not to call Kim. Not unless he wants his head on a chopping board.”
“Oh, is that all?”
“Shut up.” Captain rolls his eyes at him as he gets up to leave. “Before you leave, there is one more thing…”
Suga hopes it isn’t another errand he has to add to his list. “I need your team at the port tonight. Midnight.”
𝄖
“Listen up.” Seokjin calls out to the team. The screens at the front of the room, with faces of those off-site, perk up. “We’ve got confirmation of Kim and Barome’s escape. They’ll be leaving the country soon.”
“Their main mode of trafficking is via entering cargo ships, so we predict they’ll be leaving the same way.” Jun says. “Coast guards have been informed and they’ve doubled up patrol on the docks and waters.”
“The problem is, both Kim and Barome have gone off the grid.” Seokjin says. “Our intel wasn’t able to get all the details of their exit before they went underground. Right now, all we can do is wait for any movement. We have eyes on all their active locations.”
Seokjin points to the map, where they’ve indicated with thumbtacks the different clubs, bases, the headquarters as well as any establishments working with Kim and Barome.
“As soon as they’re spotted, we’ll be informed.”
“Are we just focusing on the docks? What if they don’t leave on cargo?” One of the team members asks.
“We haven’t ruled out that possibility.” Jun confirms. “We’ve alerted the airports and the customs as well as train and bus stations. Although, the probability of them moving via train or bus is low. Kim is too paranoid, he won’t go alone. And moving in packs on public transport would attract too much attention. Something he’ll avoid. They generally will stick to what they know.” Seokjin says.
“They’ll move at night. Less cars, traffic. It’s dark out at the docks at night, easier for them to get away.”
A beeping sound comes from one of the laptops. Right at the back, one of their tech analysts frowns at her screen. Seokjin moves behind them and takes a look. “What’s going on?”
“They’ve started moving money out of their banks.” She says.
“Do we know where?”
“Several offshore accounts. Even if I could narrow it down, we’d have to request access from these foreign banks to get any information from their database.”
“Alright, keep tracking. We’ll get the necessary paperwork. We need to know where their money’s going. It’s all evidence.”
“If they’re moving their money,” another agent starts, “it means they’re preparing to leave.”
Jun and Seokjin share a look. “We did predict they might before the end of the week.” Jun says.
“That means we only have about four days. So, we need to strike before they can. The first sign of them, and we take that chance.” Seokjin looks at his assistant. “Any updates from the ground?”
“Yes, good news. Kim was spotted earlier entering his Captain’s apartment building.”
“Perfect.” Seokjin turns to the board and the many locations they’ve pinned on it. “These locations here, marked with red, are our priority; their headquarters, warehouses, Kim’s known gambling den, his main club and Barome’s base. We’ll be deploying our teams to each of these locations.”
Jun turns to the leader of the tactical teams. “Update your task force. Make sure they know who the targets are; arresting the lower level members could be useful, but we need Kim and Barome. They’re our top priority.”
“Yes sir.” He nods through the screen.
“And as soon as we’ve gotten them into custody, it’ll be easier for us to get their lower ranking members,” Seokjin says, “that’s when we’ll move in on them.”

“I can’t believe you let him stay here.” Hoseok paces in the tiny kitchen. Hana watches him as she sits on the high stool, resting her arm on the kitchen island separating the space from the living area. “After all he’s done. He’s not even out there looking for Y/N.”
“He’s hurt.” Hana says and Hoseok shakes his head.
“So? Probably karma for what he let happen to her.”
“Hey, you’re forgetting that she chose to get involved. It’s her fault too.”
“I can’t believe you’re here blaming her,” he looks at her in disgust.
“I’m not blaming her, I’m just saying you shouldn’t be blaming him for everything. Which seems to be the only thing you know how to do.” She retorts. “Your sour attitude isn’t helping anyone.”
“Neither is staying home while she’s out there somewhere, in danger! Why won’t you let me help her?”
Hana huffs. “We already filed a missing person’s report, plus Jungkook’s friends are working on it.”
“What are his friends going to do about it?” Hoseok rolls his eyes, slamming a fist on the island. He turns away embarrassed when Hana doesn’t react, staring back at him with angry eyes. She already knows how emotional he can get when he’s stressed.
The door of your room creaks open and Jungkook walks out slowly. Having heard everything from inside, he looks at Hoseok from across the room. “We have a better chance of finding him than the police do.”
“Yeah right,” Hoseok scoffs, eyeing the bandage around his leg, “can you even trust them? How do you know they’re not in on it either? We don’t even know why Hongjun took her.”
Jungkook waits, head hanging low for a while, “I know why.”
“Was it because of your relationship?” Hana asks.
“I thought so too at first.” Jungkook admits. “But a week before he kidnapped her, he said he was suspicious of her.”
“Suspicious how?” Hoseok perks up.
“He said he thinks she might be working with the police. And giving them info…about us. I thought it was weird that he’d say that since he doesn’t even know her. But now I know they were talking all this while…”
The room goes quiet. Hoseok feels his heart sink and Hana turns to him slowly, gauging his reaction. Jungkook goes back and forth between the two. It’s as if they were communicating through looks. “What’s going on? Why do you look like that?”
Hana shakes her head and manages a smile. “Nothing. We’re just worried.”
“Do you know something about this?” Jungkook directs his question to Hoseok. “Is there something else I don’t know about her?”
Hoseok shakes his head. Though Jungkook is doubtful, he lets it go.
“I’ll be off then.” He says, looking at Hana. “Thanks for letting me crash here.”
“Are you sure you should be moving around? Your leg’s still…”
“I’m fine.” He nods.
She hops off the stool and walks him to the door. Jungkook gives her a hug before leaving, whispering in her ear, “I’ll get her back. I promise.”
“I know.”

The last person Suga saw was ten minutes ago. The road gradually gets emptier and so does his surroundings. He makes his way on foot towards the abandoned parking lot. It’s dark and creepy. He takes a deep breath before stepping inside. The elevator no longer works, so he takes the stairs up.
He stops at every level, checking to see if anyone is there. Finally, as he reaches the fourth floor, he hears something. It sounded to him like laughing and clapping, the sounds of an audience on a tv show. Followed by people talking.
Walking further, he finally spots the camp Hongjun had set up. It’s right at the end of the lot. The only cars there are theirs, and it seems like they’ve been living out of it. The boot of the car is open, filled with food and clothes.
Nearby, there’s a single tent and foldable chairs before it. Junho rests comfortably on one of them, watching a show from his laptop, placed on a small stool in front of him. He laughs at something he sees on screen.
“Well,” Suga says loudly, scaring Junho off his chair, “you’ve surely made yourselves at home.”
“What the hell!” Junho scrambles to his feet, calling for the others. Taeho appears from inside the tent, eyes going wide.
Taeho immediately goes into defence mode. “What are you doing here?!”
Hongjun emerges out of the back seat of the car, having awakened from the yelling. Rubbing his eyes, he blinks several times, surprised to see that he isn’t just imagining Suga being there. “How nice of you to drop by.” He says casually.
“Unfortunately, we’re not accepting any visitors at the moment.” Taeho pulls out a shotgun. “Leave.”
Unfazed, Suga looks at Hongjun. He tells Taeho to stand down and gestures for them to step aside.
“I’m here on Captain’s orders.”
Hongjun’s interest is piqued. After having his calls rejected, he considered giving up. But if the Captain had sent someone for him, it could be a good thing after all. “Really? What’s up?”
“First of all, you fucked up and he doesn’t want to talk to you.” Hongjun rolls his eyes. Suga continues, “Secondly, we’re going into lockdown.”
Hongjun huffs as if he doesn’t believe him. But Suga’s not one to lie about something like that. “When?”
“Starting now.” Suga shrugs, walking further into Hongjun’s camp. “Why the hell are you here anyway?”
“We needed a change of scenery.”
“Right…” He’s not impressed. They were living like they got kicked out of their house. Their camp sits right in front of a wall, which then turns into a corner where Suga notices the table with open suitcases on them. “Are you selling those? If you’re not, you have to return them to HQ. Captain’s orders. Since you ghosted your clients, they were all over the Captain, he covered for your ass.”
“Whatever.” Hongjun groans.
“Hey, Captain’s words, not mine.”
“Fine.” He rolls his eyes behind Suga’s back. “Give me time to clear them.”
“You don’t have time,” Suga says, “It’s better if you send them back. In the event you get caught, you don’t get caught with a suitcase of drugs.”
“Is it really that bad already?”
Suga nods in response, eyes scanning the place for something else.
Hongjun mutters to himself, “I knew it. I knew she’s behind this.”
“Hm?” Suga caught part of it. “Who?”
“No one.” He shakes his head. “Okay, I’ll return the drugs tomorrow. Thanks for coming by to⎼ hey!”
Suga walks ahead. The area facing their drug stash is blocked by the wall from where he’s standing. But something else is there. He follows his gut and as he comes nearer, he finds a makeshift bed right around the corner, against the other side of the wall, right across the drugs.
Your eyes meet. “What the hell is this?” He asks without tearing away from you.
They’ve tied you to the bed frame and taped over your mouth. Your wide eyes look at him in despair. It hurts to try to move your lips so you make unintelligible noises, hoping he would save you.
“Listen,” Hongjun comes to his side. “I’m doing this for us. She’s dangerous.”
Suga looks back at you, struggling to free yourself. “Her? Dangerous?”
Hongjun tries to pull him aside, hanging an arm over his neck. “She’s the one selling us out. Think about it, things weren’t this bad until she showed up.”
Suga doesn’t deny it. After all, he was the first to notice how differently Jungkook had been when you started to date.
“We can’t let her get away with this. I was going to hand her over to Kim.” He whispers, as if you can’t hear him. “I mean look…it’s all her fault we’re going into lockdown.”
Shoving his hand off, Suga steps closer to you. “So you’re a spy huh?”
You shake your head aggressively, tears welling up in your eyes. Why won’t he help you?
“I knew you’d get it.” Hongjun places a hand on his shoulder and shakes it. Suga pushes him away again.
“It doesn’t matter anyway. Kim and Barome have gone off the grid, you won’t find them unless they want you to.” Suga says and Hongjun’s mouth twitches.
Hongjun brings both hands to the back of his head and tilts his head up, groaning in frustration. “What about the Captain?”
“He’s busy. And pissed at you, remember?”
“Fuck.” He spits out, “I’ll just kill her myself then.”
Suga looks at him. “Just keep her with you. For now at least. Once Kim’s out of hiding, you can carry on with your plan.”
Hongjun claps his hands together and moves for a high-five but Suga ignores him. He puts his hand down. “I’ve always liked you better than your partner. Sorry about him by the way…he wasn’t thinking straight that night. We had to teach him a lesson.”
Suga stares him dead in the eye. “So you shot him?”
He chuckles nervously, shrugging. “At least he’s still alive?”
“Get things settled.” Suga says. “Tell them to start packing.”
“You got it, partner.” Hongjun winks, then goes off to brief the other two.
Meanwhile, you look at Suga through your blurry vision. You can’t believe Suga would sell you out. Even if he did despise you, allowing Hongjun to hand you over to their boss is not what you expect him to be okay with.
The wall separates you two from the rest. He comes closer, not saying a word. Next thing you know, his fingers wrap around your wrists.

Suga returns to the apartment where Namjoon and Jungkook are waiting for him. He’d briefly explained the situation to Namjoon who went to get Jungkook from your place. “Everyone good? How’s your leg?”
“Better.” Jungkook says, standing and walking a few steps to prove his point.
“Good.” Suga smiles at him, then looks at Namjoon. “Did you follow my instructions? Sure you weren’t followed?”
Namjoon nods, “Yes, and I made sure we went two rounds around the block just in case, like you said.”
“What’s happening?” Jungkook asks as Suga pulls out a drink from the fridge.
“You were right.” Suga says, taking a big gulp. “The police are closing in on us. Kim’s gone underground and we’re about to do the same.”
“Oh,” is all Jungkook can manage. “What about the club?”
Suga shakes his head and Jungkook heaves out a sigh. “They’ll manage. But it’s too risky for us to stay here, even if we keep our heads down.”
“Do you think they know about this place?” RM stands by the window, peeking out the blinds.
“If they’ve been watching us, then yes.” Suga says, starting to gather his belongings.
“So are we leaving now?” Namjoon watches him. “Like, just drop everything and go?”
“Yup.” Suga says, “I think we should leave the city for a bit. Maybe out of state. Kim’s leaving the country, but I don’t think we need to go that far.”
Jungkook stands with his hands on his hips. “Why can’t we just go to the safe house?”
“We can.” Suga agrees. “But wouldn’t you rather get as far away as possible? We can go anywhere we want. Come back in a few months when things have cooled down.”
“I’m not going.” The other two look at Jungkook. “I can’t…Y/N…”
“Forget about her right now, we⎼”
“No!” Creases form between his brows. “I can’t do that to her. I need to save her.”
“You can’t do anything for her if you’re in jail.”
Jungkook presses his palms to the sides of his head, then throws his hands up. “Fuck it! I don’t care! I’m not going to leave my girlfriend, and I’m not going to leave our staff to fend for themselves. I told you this would happen, that Kim would find a way to escape and leave others to take the fall for him. I don’t want to be a part of this anymore. I’m done.”
“Listen⎼”
“No. You can go with him if you want.” Jungkook stands, grabbing his jacket and heading for the door. “But I’m staying and I’m going to look for Y/N. Then whatever happens, happens.”
“Jungkook. Shut. Up.” Suga grits his teeth. “I’ve already found her. She’s fine.”
Jungkook stares at him wide-eyed, shoulders relaxing. “You⎼ you found her?”
Suga nods, and Jungkook’s face is washed with relief. He lunges forward and Suga finds himself wrapped in his arms. It feels odd, so he gently pats Jungkook on his back. “She’s alright. Well…not really but⎼”
“Where is she? Did you get her somewhere safe?” Namjoon asks.
Suga looks away. “No…she’s still with Hongjun.”
The two of them share a confused look. “You just left her there? And you didn’t do anything?”
“God…couldn’t you have⎼ nevermind just tell me where they are,” Jungkook gets ready to leave again, “I’ll go get her myself.”
“He’ll kill you if you step foot anywhere near her.” Suga looks at Jungkook who turns his back to the door. “He’s escalating, and I think he might be on drugs. He was acting a little strange. He got you shot the last time, if you stand in his way again, you won’t make it out.”
“I can’t just leave her there. It’s my fault she’s in trouble.” Jungkook says. “He might kill her.”
“Jungkook, this is not about you. He’s already made up his mind that she’s been snitching on us, and he wants to make her pay. He’s not going to kill her. Because he wants to hand her over to Kim.”
Jungkook’s throat goes dry. “We can’t let that happen.”
“We won’t.” Namjoon says. “What’s the plan?”
“Hongjun doesn’t have many options. Kim’s gone underground and he’s in deep shit with the bosses.” Suga says, resting his arms on his knees on the couch. “He’s going to settle his current stash, then go dark.”
Jungkook still isn’t convinced. “He’s not someone who follows instructions well.”
“He has no choice. I made that clear earlier.” Suga says.
“Captain wants to meet up tonight right? What if he shows up? With her…”
“He doesn’t even know about the meeting.” Suga says. “Besides, I’ve got eyes on him. And I’ll get notified if they move Y/N.”
“How?”
Suga pulls his sleeve up, showing his bare wrist. “I gave her my watch. I can trace it.”
Namjoon grins. “You’re a genius.”
“Now, we’ll have to figure out when we’re gonna move in on them. We’ll observe their pattern for a couple of days and once the timing is right, we’ll get her out of there. After that,” Suga pauses and the other two listen attentively, “After that we need to go underground ourselves. Straight to the safe house first before we leave. We can’t take any chances. Staying out for the next couple of days is risky enough as it is.”
Namjoon agrees while Jungkook looks at Suga in awe. A hint of nostalgia hits Jungkook as he watches Suga go on about the plan; it reminds him of how Suga had looked after him when they were little.
“What?” Suga asks when he notices the staring.
Jungkook blinks at him. “Why are you doing this?”
“Doing what?”
“Putting yourself at risk for her.”
“Not for her you idiot,” he rolls his eyes, “for you.”

[Alpha Team]: Kim is on the move.
[Alpha Team]: Two black SUVs headed north. Team Alpha is on standby.
[Jun Suh]: Roger that.
“They’re heading towards the port,” Seokjin says, “I knew it.”
“And that’s also where one of their large warehouses are at.” Jun adds.
Seokjin turns to the officer next to him. “I want Alpha to stay with Kim. Don’t lose sight of him.”
“Noted.” An officer nods, relaying the information over the radio.
“We need to do this tonight.” Seokjin turns to Jun. “He might be gone by tomorrow. Now’s our only chance.”
Jun looks Seokjin dead in the eyes. “I’m ready to go when you are.”
“Send us Alpha Team’s location and inform them we’re moving in tonight.” Seokjin says as the both of them pull bulletproof vests over their heads and strap them on. He takes one last breath and looks at his team, awaiting orders from him. “Alright everyone, let’s get moving.”

[00:45AM]
“It’s definitely tonight right?” RM asks after almost an hour of waiting. They remain inside the warehouse, careful about being spotted. The workers there carry on in their presence, hundreds of them packing white powder and pills into smaller packets.
Jungkook walks from one end of the room and back, getting used to the aching in his leg. It’s stopped bleeding and the pain is manageable with medication. “We shouldn’t stay here too long,” Jungkook says.
“Yeah.” Suga sighs, fidgeting. “If they’re not here in five minutes, we’ll go.”
The doors of the entrance open and Captain finally appears, smiling as he spots them. He slows down as he approaches Jungkook, eyes dropping to his thigh. “Glad you’re back on your feet already.”
“Me too.” Jungkook nods.
The Captain then gestures for them to follow him. He leads them outside, where the air is cooler and the sounds of crashing waves can be heard. They rely on the few street lamps in the area and around the building to get by in the dark.
They carry on walking till they’re a distance away from the building, following the path by the edge of the water. They can see the waves crashing against the side of the port, and in the distance, just the darkness of open water. They walk past two other warehouses until they reach a group of men.
One of them stands by the edge, looking out into the distance. His guards stand around him.
“Hello everyone,” he says cheerfully, despite being a wanted man.

“Sir,” Suga squints, making sure he isn’t just seeing things, “we weren’t expecting to see you.”
“That’s the point.” Kim says, chuckling. “I’m sure you’ve been briefed on our situation.”
They nod.
“I don’t have much time, but I’d like a word with the two of you.” He gestures towards Jungkook and Suga.
Respectfully, RM and the captain move away to give them some privacy. Kim walks ahead while the other two follow behind. Walking with his hands behind his back, he’s focused on the ground in deep thought. “I heard you got into some trouble.”
Suga looks at Jungkook. “Oh, yeah. It’s getting better though.” Jungkook says.
“Was it one of ours?”
Jungkook swallows the lump in his throat. “It was…one of Hongjun’s guys.”
Kim pauses. “That boy is nothing but trouble. I should’ve gotten rid of him a long time ago. We lost good clients over the last week because of his irresponsibility. Then suddenly he reappears, asking to see me⎼ ah well, that’s not what I wanted to talk about tonight.”
The two give each other an uneasy look. What if Hongjun had already gotten to the bosses? Did Kim already know about you? If he does, they’re in grave danger right now. And so are you.
“I wanted to say goodbye before I leave,” Kim finally stops walking. His bodyguards keep in step, two in front and two behind. Jungkook let out a breath of relief but Kim didn't seem to notice. “I think I might have to stay away much, much longer this time. The people coming after me aren’t going to stop till I’m gone.”
“Don’t worry boss, we’ll be here till you get back.” Jungkook says and Kim turns, finally facing them.
“I’m counting on it.” His eyes are different from before, more serious now. “There’s not a lot of people I trust, you know that. And with how things have turned out, I don’t know who I can trust anymore. But I know I can always count on the two of you.”
“Of course you can.” Suga says and Kim nods.
“As you may or may not have heard, we did some internal checks after the police kept intercepting our imported goods.” He continues, “Nothing specific came up, but we realised that the only way they would have known where and when to intercept, was if they had access to our database. Which means, it’s an inside job.”
“But that means it could be anyone.” Jungkook says. “Well, any senior member.”
“We only have thirty of us. Everyone else joined after.” Suga says, referring to their original group of men. When they first started, they had a total of fifteen men including themselves, working under Kim. It slowly grew, and once they had enough people, Kim began expanding and promoted the original fifteen to senior members, allowing them to take on their own teams and districts.
“Barome’s men were ruled out, we don’t share our data with them anyways.” Kim fixes his suit. “I didn’t tell Barome of course. He’d use this to put the blame on us.”
“We still don’t know who it is though, right?”
“No. I decided to focus on getting away safely.” He looks at them. “That’s why I didn’t let just anyone know about the lockdown. Only the ones I trust.”
“You can trust us.” Kim smiles at Suga, extending his hand. Then he pulls him in for a hug.
Jungkook watches them have their moment, then is next to accept a hug. Kim messes up his hair. “Sometimes I forget how little you used to be. Now we’re at eye level.”
They laugh, and Jungkook wishes his heart didn’t hurt as much as it does, being reminded of how much Kim is a part of his life. “Don’t get all sappy now.” Jungkook teases.
“You know…” There’s a flush of playfulness on his face. His cheeks rise as he smiles, like he just thought of something. “Maybe you should⎼”
He stops talking when a loud noise interrupts the silence out there. “What was that?” Jungkook asks. It came from the warehouse. They look around cautiously and the guards move in to create a barrier around Kim. There was shouting and screaming. The guards whip out their guns the second more shots are heard.
Kim’s guards take the lead, guiding them away from the direction they came from. Away from the port, and past the docks, they enter an area which houses shipping containers. With the way they were stacked, the containers tower over them, allowing them to blend into the shadows. They stay rooted in the middle of the maze.
“What’s going on?” Kim looks to his guard, who presses against his in-ear.
Even before he could respond, they knew what was happening. They were under attack. Kim coming out of hiding would have triggered it.
“Federal agents are here,” his guard says, confirming their fears.
“Damn it.” Kim spits out.
“We need to get you out of here. I’ve called for backup, they’re on the way.”
Kim had prepared for this with an escape car on standby just five minutes away. They flinch when several more loud bangs go off, nearer this time. Trouble seemed to be closing in. In a hurry, they move further into the maze, trying to get to the end where the car is to meet them. “We can’t stay here.” Suga says to Jungkook who doesn’t budge.
“But we can’t just leave the others,” Jungkook looks in the other direction, “what about RM?”
“Leave them,” Kim says, “you know the drill. Come with me. The car will pick us up out back."
"No." Jungkook looks at him with disgust which surprises even himself. Kim looks on as he collects himself, backing down and avoiding eye contact. Jungkook clears his throat. “You can go, I’m staying.”
"The hell you are." Kim says, sternly this time. "Especially not with that."
He nods to Jungkook's injury. At this point, Kim’s guards are tugging him away, "Sir, the car's almost here. We need to go now."
Jungkook stays rooted. Kim looks at Suga, putting him on the spot. But he was risking his life here. Kim pulls his hand away from his guard and straightens himself up. "Well alright then. I presume you’ll find your own way out of here."
They rush off, walking into the dark. Once they’re out of sight, Suga grabs onto Jungkook’s sleeve. “We have to go too. Please.”
“It’s just not right!” Jungkook hisses.
“Keep your voice down.” Suga whispers, “We⎼”
Suga stops, pressing a finger to Jungkook’s lips when he hears something. It’s quiet, the ruckus of the warehouse happening in the distance, but then he picks up on the voices and static noise of a radio nearby. His eyes widen and he gently pushes Jungkook and himself against the crate. His hand positions itself on the gun on his waist.
“This way.” A voice says softly. It sounds like they’re on the other side of the container. They seem to be moving in Kim’s direction, but the two of them know they wouldn’t be spared if any one of the agents looks over the side and spots them there.
Suga gently removes his hand from Jungkook. Kim headed east, so Suga gestured for them to move south. He gets his gun out and together with Jungkook they go down the row of containers, away from the police.
Once they’re a good distance away, Suga tells Jungkook to go without him. “Keep going till you see a fence. Climb over and run, get as far away as you can.” He whispers.
Jungkook moves quickly and quietly, passing by container after container. It’s a long way down and he’s careful of his surroundings. He reaches the end of the row and sees the fence, just as Suga said. On the other side, there’s a narrow road and a cluster of buildings across. He could go through the alleys and eventually find a way out to the main road without running into any of the police.
But then he hears a loud bang. And another. And another.
“No.” He shuts his eyes, willing himself to pull it together. But his feet stuck to the ground, head toying with the thought of Suga lying dead somewhere back there.
Jungkook takes a deep breath. Then runs back in the direction he came from, going faster than before.
As he reaches the area they were standing at earlier, he slows down and listens closely. It’s quiet now, until he hears the low sound of someone groaning, asking for help. He follows the sound. It leads him in the direction Kim set off to earlier.
He keeps going till he finds something. Even in the dark, he can make out the bodies on the cold ground. He freezes, taking in the scene before him. Flashlights roll on the ground, illuminating the pools of blood surrounding the bodies. Then some distance away, he hears a commotion.
“Suga?” He breathes out, squinting.
Suga’s face twists in confusion. His guard is still up, still in a defensive stance when he turns. He lowers his gun when he realises who it is. “What the hell are you still doing here? I told you to go.”
“I heard the gunshots…I didn’t want to leave you.” Jungkook’s voice trails off when he looks over Suga’s shoulder, right where he was kneeling before. Kim’s on the ground, head supported by one of his guards, while another places pressure on his abdomen.
“He’s shot, we need to get him out.” Suga says going back to Kim’s side, assuring him that everything will be okay.
“The car is here.” His guard says and the rest of them help him up, supporting him on both sides as he limps.
“Let’s go,” Suga's voice is strained when Jungkook slows down after a couple of steps, “do you want to get shot too? Their backup will be here soon!”
Jungkook hears him, but he can’t take his eyes off the men lying in their own blood. There were five of them; four no longer moving, one of them being one of the members of Kim’s security, while the last man continues to struggle in pain. “Did you shoot them?” Jungkook asks.
“They were shooting at us.” Suga says.
“They’re dead.”
“Exactly. Move on.”
“Move on?” Jungkook turns to him with tearful eyes. “You just killed four people⎼”
Suga lets out a low guttural sound in frustration. “Will you shut the fuck up⎼”
“Over here!”
Suga’s eyes widened, spotting flashes of light behind Jungkook. He’s fast to catch Jungkook’s wrist, making a run for it. They turn the corner and sprint down the row, disappearing round a right turn further down. They have no idea where they are, risking getting lost and ending up running into the people after them. Neither of them look back, moving as fast as their feet could go. It’s too dark to be sure of where they’re headed but Suga follows his gut.
They slow down only when the coast is clear. But Suga keeps Jungkook moving. Staying in place would only increase their chances of getting caught. They keep going till one of them catches sight of the fence. They run straight for it, reaching the end of the sectioned area. Running along the length of the fence, they head for the familiar group of men huddled in a spot, car on the other side of the fence.
“There!” Jungkook says, pushing Suga into that direction.
Kim was being carried into an SUV with the help of his men. They had made a cut in the fence, to get to the other side. The guards spot them once Kim had been safely strapped in and gesture for them to hurry. One of the men holds the fence open for them while they get through.
In the last few moments as they try to get across, the police manage to catch up with them. The guard starts shooting which prompts the police to return fire.
“Get in! Get in!”
Suga and Jungkook scramble into the vehicle, barely getting in before the last guard shoves himself behind them. He shuts the door close as he climbs in, narrowly avoiding the bullets coming at them. Bullets continue to hit the car, ricocheting off the side of the armoured vehicle.
The driver steps on the gas and speeds away. Jungkook looks out the back window; the police had gone through the hole in the fence and got onto the road to get a better shot. The shooting only stops when they get too far away, disappearing from the area.
“How you holding up sir?” Suga asks.
That’s when Jungkook's eyes land on Kim in the backseat, eyes closed, breathing heavily. They’d removed his suit jacket and rolled up his sleeves. One of his men continues to put pressure on the wound.
“We need to take him to the hospital.” Jungkook says.
“No hospitals.” Kim says weakly. “Just bring me to HQ.”
“I can’t do that sir.” The driver says and all heads turn to him. “HQ is down too. The place is surrounded. We’re compromised.”
The car goes silent.

“Damn it!” Seokjin removes his gear and throws it to the ground. Jun catches up with him. “How the hell did he get away? We almost had him!”
Around them, employees are being taken into custody outside the warehouse. Most of them complied while others attempted to escape. Medics were on scene giving medical care to those wounded while crime scene investigators tape up the surrounding area.
Seokjin’s outburst turns a couple of heads and Jun cuts him off, grabbing his vest to stop him from storming away. “This is just a setback. We’ve put out an alert to be on the lookout for him.”
Seokjin groans, resting his back on one of the cars. “How did he escape?”
“They had an exit out back.”
“We were supposed to cover all exits.” Seokjin says in despair.
Jun sighs. “It’s not the team’s fault. The road was supposedly closed off.”
“Great, now Kim's gone and there’s nothing we can do about it.”
“Hey, what’s wrong with you?” Jun tilts his head, slapping Seokjin on the arm. “Why are you giving up so easily? We’re going to get him if it’s the last thing we do. They confirmed that he was shot, he’s not going to be able to leave without getting help first.”
An agent comes up to the both of them, “Sir, the other raids were successful. We have most of them in custody, including Kim’s lieutenant. Crime scene also recorded millions worth of drugs now in our possession.”
Jun gives Seokjin a reassuring look, “See? The mission wasn’t a total fail.”
Seokjin presses his lips together and thanks the agent. “Fine.” He says to Jun.
“We still did good tonight.”
“Maybe.” Seokjin nods, pulling himself together with a deep breath. “I’m not stopping till we get him and Barome. Let’s go back to the office and regroup.”

A low grumble sounds from your middle. You curl up on the mattress, hoping to ease the pain a little. You’d gotten a bit of sleep before the hunger pangs woke you. In the previous nights, only one member of Hongjun’s team would be up, with the radio on, keeping guard. But tonight, the lights are on and you hear their voices on the other side of the wall. You’re curious, but you can barely concentrate on anything when you’re about to pass out.
You wish you could just make a run for it right now. But then you remember Hongjun’s threat. And what Suga said.
“Don’t do anything stupid. We’ll come and get you.” He whispered as he wrapped his watch around your wrist before redoing the tape around it.
Your stomach growls again. Pushing yourself up on the mattress, you bang on the steel of the structure you’re on to get their attention. Junho comes along with a sunken look on his face and undos the tape over your mouth.
“What do you want?” Junho asks like you’re burdening him.
“I’m hungry. Can I have something to eat?”
“Now’s not really a good time.” He mumbles, more to himself, then goes to get you something anyways. Disappearing behind the corner, he comes back with a plate of leftovers; garlic bread, a quarter portion of fish and a couple spoonfuls of mashed potatoes.
Your mouth waters at the sight. Without wasting any time, you grab the bread and take a huge bite out of it. He watches you in disgust for a moment then turns to return to the others.
“What’s going on?” You ask, mid-chew.
He turns back to you, and looks at you, wondering how you had the audacity to ask him that. “I’m sure you already know.”
You continue to eat. “About what?”
“They got to us. Federal agents just raided our headquarters…but don’t act like you didn’t know they were going to.”
You stopped chewing in surprise. Of course, you did know. You just didn’t know it would be tonight. “You mean…”
“You know exactly what he means.” Hongjun struts in, having heard part of your conversation. He stares at you with venom in his eyes. “This is all your fault.”
“I haven’t done anything,” you say, “I’ve been here the whole time. How is this my fault?”
“If you hadn’t mouthed off to them, we wouldn’t be having this problem!” He yells and you flinch when he raises his hand. “Now HQ is gone…and we don’t have word on Kim yet…”
He looks so discouraged, you might even feel bad. But then you remember the state you’re in and those feelings disappear. You go back to your food quietly when Hongjun gets distracted by something Taeho says over the phone, probably fishing for updates.
“Junho, you continue packing.” He says. “We have to locate Kim. He needs to know about her.”
“Is that really important right now?” Junho tries to reason with him. Surely you would be the last thing Kim cares about. “We don’t even know if he’s⎼”
“He’s fine!” Hongjun clenches his teeth and fumes. “Nothing’s happened to him. Nothing can happen…not until I prove myself to him.”
You chew slowly, wondering where Jungkook is tonight. You hope he’s alright.

In their desperation, they end up back at the club. After making a call in the car, Suga was relieved to know the club had been spared. And since they can’t confirm the safety of any of Kim’s other bases, they decided to bring him here and phoned his doctor.
“Once the doc fixes me up, I’m out of here.” He says softly as they carry him upstairs, into a VIP room.
The guards settle him in while Jungkook and Suga make sure the place is guarded, informing the bouncers not to let anyone suspicious in. Kim’s guards station themselves around the club and Suga activates his eyes and ears on the street to be on the lookout.
Jungkook pulls Suga aside when they’re done. “This is a bad idea.”
“What do you suggest we do then? We can’t leave him.”
“If the police find out he’s here, we’re getting dragged along with him.” Jungkook checks his surroundings. Two guards stand by the stairs leading down to the first floor. The other rooms remain occupied and every now and then some of their girls walk past. “If they know about Kim’s bases, I’m willing to bet they know about us and this place.”
“He’ll be gone once the doctor gives him the ok.” Suga says. “Will you stop freaking out over this? The police have their hands full right now. It’ll be some time before they come for us.”
“How can I not freak out?” Jungkook says. “HQ is gone…we almost got caught…I thought you were dead when I heard those gunshots.”
Suga looks at him funny. “Is that why you came back?”
Jungkook looks at his feet. “Yeah.”
Suga shoves his head. “Stupid. Should’ve left when I gave you the chance.”
They laugh quietly. “I didn’t want that to be the last time I see you.”
Suga processes what Jungkook means. If things had turned out differently, it would’ve been him lying in a pool of his own blood. Suga hates thinking about it.
“It doesn’t matter now,” he says softly, “I’m fine.”
Jungkook looks at the door of the VIP room. “Hopefully Kim will be too.”
“Don’t worry, he will be.” Suga says. “And once he’s all checked out, he’ll leave. And so will we.”
Jungkook nods in agreement, then pauses, eyes widening. “Wait, what? No. No no. I’m not leaving. Remember, you said we’d go and get⎼”
“Yes, god, I haven’t forgotten.” Suga shakes his head at the younger boy whose shoulder slumps in relief. How could he forget? He checks the location of his watch. It hasn’t changed for now. “She’s still there. They haven’t gone anywhere.”
“But they might.” Jungkook says. “Once Hongjun hears about the raid and Kim’s condition, he’s gonna try and look for him. I should go get her now.”
“Woah woah woah,” Suga holds him back, knowing that things wouldn’t turn out well if he goes without backup. And they can’t both leave Kim without raising suspicions. “You need to chill. They haven’t left their hideout because they probably don’t even know what happened tonight. And Y/N is safe for it. Right now, we need to settle him.”
Jungkook doesn’t agree. But Suga is not going to let him go.
“Come on,” he says softly, ruffling Jungkook’s hair, “let’s go check on Kim.”
The doctor arrives soon after and is rushed up to where Kim is. He gets to work, examining the wound and doing a minor surgery to try and remove the bullet. The boys watch only from a distance while making sure the doctor has everything he needs. After the procedure ends, he spends another ten minutes checking on Kim’s vitals. Then he asks to speak to the boys in private.
“I’m going to be honest, it doesn’t look too good.” He says.
Jungkook feels his stomach drop. “What do you mean? What’s wrong?”
The doctor presses his lips together. “Firstly, the bullet punctured his stomach. I decided not to remove it, otherwise he’d lose too much blood at once, and since you don’t have any on standby here for a transfusion…”
“Okay, so what does that mean for him?” Suga asks.
“I’ve managed to stop the bleeding but it’s only temporary and it won’t help much unless we have the proper equipment and resources to get the bullet out. That’s…not the only thing.” The doctor pushes his glasses up. “His heart’s not doing so well. His blood pressure is through the roof, even his regular meds aren’t bringing it back down. Whatever happened tonight must’ve triggered this. The shock of it all has made his condition a lot worse. That’s what’s making him so weak…”
“So what now?”
“He needs rest. Lots of it. Anything intense might set his heart off again and he could go into cardiac arrest. And with the internal injury…”
Jungkook excuses himself from the conversation, hearing Suga ask the doctor a few more questions as he walks back into the room. He looks at the sight of Kim on the couch, just lying there. He can’t describe what he’s feeling, he doesn’t understand it. He shouldn’t care about these people anymore, but why does it feel like loss all over again?

“Where’s Kim?”
Kyun stares blankly at the agent in front of him. His wrists are in handcuffs, bound to the table in chains. “I don’t know.
“You’re his lieutenant, surely you’d know where he would go at a time like this?”
“At a time like what?” Kyun asks. “Supper?”
“Tell me about your relationship with him.” The agent changes the direction of the conversation.
But it doesn’t work on Kyun. He smiles like a man who has nothing to lose. “He could be anywhere.”
Behind the two-way mirror, Seokjin and Junsuh watch him carefully. They were hopeful when they learned Kyun was amongst those in custody. But he’s proving to be as difficult as they come. It’s evident they’re not going to get much out of him.
“This guy’s got prior drug charges, assault charges. He’s been in juvie and in and out of prison twice.” Jun shakes his head. “He’s not going to talk.”
“None of the other men are talking either.” Seokjin stands with his arms folded, still watching Kyun through the glass. “He’s got no family, no one he needs to protect other than Kim. And the only way he can do that is to keep his mouth shut.”
Jun sighs. “What about your undercover?”
“His line’s dead. He was supposed to be at the port…not sure what happened.”
“You think he turned on us?”
“No I don’t think so.” Seokjin looks at Jun, who shrugs. “He confirmed Kim’s location before we moved in.”
They stop talking and continue to listen to the interrogation. The warehouse workers were too low down the food chain to know anything of considerable importance regarding Kim. So Kyun is their best lead. The detective asks all the right questions, but Kyun is experienced enough to know how to dismiss them without giving anything away.
“Let me try something.” Seokjin finally gets up, deciding to take matters into his own hands. Jun watches him leave the room and appear on the other side, switching places with the detective.
From the moment he steps inside, Kyun studies him. The way he dresses, his mannerisms. “So you’re the guy in charge.” He says.
“Something like that.” Seokjin replies, smiling. “I’m here to offer you a deal.”
“No thanks.” Kyun replies immediately, already looking uninterested.
“How long have you been working for Kim again?”
“Longer than you’ve been a cop probably.”
Seokjin chuckles. “That’s true. Which means you’ve probably made a lot of enemies along the way, huh? And judging from the reports the last time you were in jail, you had a hard time there.”
Kyun’s confidence falters slightly.
“Once we charge you for your crimes, you’re gonna end up back in there with those same people. Probably new enemies you’ve made along the way too.” Kyun finally looks like he cares about what Seokjin has to say. “Unless, you decide to take up our offer - we’ll put you in protective custody, away from those men. In exchange, we’d like information on Kim and Barome.”
It’s an offer worth thinking over. But Kyun’s ego was just as high as the stakes. “I don’t need a babysitter. Thanks anyway.”
“Are you sure? It’s a good deal.”
“I’ll be fine.”
“Why do you care so much about him? He doesn’t seem to care about you.” Seokjin says. Behind the mirror, Jun isn’t sure if this is part of his play, or if his emotions have gotten the better of him.
“You don’t know a damn thing about us.” Kyun says.
“We’ve been watching you for years.”
“That doesn’t mean anything.”
“You’ve worked with him for a long time. Yet he didn’t think to offer you a seat on his way out of here?”
Kyun chuckles, leaning back in his chair. “That’s not how it works.”
“Really?” Seokjin asks, “Enlighten me then.”
Kyun shakes his head, genuinely tickled by Seokjin’s naivety. “Kim doesn’t owe us a free ride out. He does what he needs to do, goes where he needs to go, while we do our jobs. We don’t share information so information doesn’t get out. So no, I don’t know where he is or where he’s going.”
“Oh.” Seokjin nods, pursing his lips. “So…Kim wouldn’t say, arrange for his men to go along with him to somewhere safe?”
Kyun shrugs.
“Interesting.” Seokjin pretends to think. “Then why was Kim meeting up with your Captain and some of your dealers the same night he was scheduled to leave the country?”
“We have meetings all the time.” He says, unimpressed.
“Right.” Seokjin nods slowly. He reaches for one of the files neatly stacked on the side of the table. Flipping through it, he then pulls out a couple of surveillance photos of Jungkook, Suga and RM, placing them on the table in front of him. “Do you know them?”
“Maybe.” He says eyeing the photos.
“They were positively identified as the men who were with Kim last night. In fact, they got in the car with him as Kim escaped. Our intel tells us that Kim was planning for them to leave the country with him. Now, what makes them so special? And what makes you…not?”
Seokjin eyes him down. His fist is clenched and he tries so hard not to give in, because that’s exactly what Seokjin wants.
“I get it. They’re useful, his best dealers. Meanwhile all you do is his dirty work and pick up after him⎼”
“I don’t care.”
“Seems like you do.”
“Stop acting like you know me!” Kyun bangs the table with his fist, rattling the chains bound to his cuffs. The guard steps in and holds him down by the shoulders. Seokjin waves him off once Kyun backs down.
Hurting his ego is one way to get to him. Kyun knows he’s playing into Seokjin’s plan, but even he couldn’t fake not knowing about Jungkook, Suga and RM meeting up with his boss last night.
“Looks like we have a bit of an anger problem.” Seokjin says and Kyun rolls his eyes. “I’m sure you’re angry at a lot of people. How did you feel about joining forces with Barome?”
He doesn’t say anything.
“You mad at him? After all, your gang was doing just fine. So Kim had no proper reason to bring Barome on board, other than greed of course.” Seokjin says. “And then of course that’s when things started to get messy, didn’t they?”
“What are you saying?” Kyun asks, eyeing him.
“I’m saying, his men have never held back when it comes to selling out yours.” He huffs, the information unsurprising. “And it seems unfair that we don’t have any leads on him.”
Something awakens in Kyun. His eyes are no longer empty.
“I know you won’t betray Kim…but your loyalty does not, and shouldn’t in my opinion, apply to Barome.”
Kyun answers with his eyes that stare deep into Seokjin’s. He wants to but something still holds him back. Seokjin knows it might take some time for him to come to terms with it himself.
Then a knock comes from the door. Jun opens it slightly, just enough to fit his shoulder through. “Your man just went online.” He says.
Seokjin nods, then turns back to Kyun. “Give it some thought. I’ll be back.”
𝄖
Kim had slept for a short while before waking up again. He tries to get up, but his body wouldn’t have it. They tell him to stay on his back instead and he obliges, not having the energy to fight. “Must be the sedatives…I’m not usually this useless.” He says, grumbling. “You know before the cops came earlier…I was going to ask the two of you…”
He coughs, and Suga offers him some water which he declines.
“I was going to ask if you wanted to come with me.” He looks at the two of them. “I knew that I wouldn’t be coming back here again. They’ve gotten too close this time and I’d never see the light of day if they ever get to me. So I wanted to start over somewhere new. And I wanted the two of you with me.”
“Why?” Jungkook asks.
“Well, I have to admit I do have a soft spot for the two of you.” He chuckles, bringing a smile to Jungkook and Suga’s faces. “Don’t tell the others.”
“Of course not sir.” They chuckle.
“Any updates on the ground?” He asks weakly.
“Nothing much.” Suga says, “Spoke to some of our men who got away, Kyun’s in custody and so are the workers.”
“I’m not too worried about the workers, they don’t know anything.” He says. “And Kyun can take care of himself. But if I don’t leave soon, they’re gonna come barging in through your doors.”
“You shouldn’t be stressing out over this,” Jungkook says, “remember what the doctor said? You need to rest.”
They’re interrupted by knocking on the door. Evan opens it and peeks through a tiny gap before opening it. “Sorry to interrupt but we have visitors.”
“Visitors?” Suga straightens up. The guards were specifically instructed not to let anyone in without asking. But none of Suga’s lookouts had alerted him, so it should be people they know. “Stay here.” He tells Jungkook.
Kim laughs quietly, then coughs again. “He’s always looking out for you isn’t he?”
“Always.” Jungkook nods, rolling his eyes.
“I love that about you two. Make sure you do the same for him. He’s the closest thing you have to a family.”
Jungkook’s chest starts hurting again. He manages a small smile.
Outside, Suga heads down to the first floor. He stops in his tracks as soon as he reaches the office door, eyes going wide. “You’re alive!” He says in relief.
The captain and RM turn to him, both smiling and relieved to be alive as well. They stand there, drenched from head to toe, drying themselves off with towels. “We jumped into the water when we realised what was happening.” RM says.
“I’m glad to see you guys made it too.” The Captain says. “Would’ve called but our phones got ruined when we jumped in. I’ll need a burner phone.”
“We have a couple you can use.” Suga fidgets in his spot, trying to find the right moment to tell him. “Captain…”
“What?” The captain stops, watching him closely. “Did we lose someone?”
“One of the guards, yes.” Suga nods. “But Kim…he was hit.”
“What?” He steps forward. “Where is he now?”
“Resting upstairs.” He says, “The doctor couldn’t remove the bullet, we didn’t have the right equipment and he was losing a lot of blood, so he only temporarily stopped the bleeding.”
“Then bring him back to HQ, we’ve got supplies there that the doctor can use to⎼”
“HQ’s down…” Suga says and the captain’s face drops. “We lost a lot of our sites tonight. So there wasn’t much of a choice. We didn’t know where else we could go, plus we needed to get off the streets.”
The captain clears his throat. The news of HQ clearly caught him off guard.
“The doctor said Kim shouldn’t move around so much. Said his heart won’t be able to take another shoot-out.”
“Okay.” Captain says, hands on his hips. He’s distracted now with the question of how they’re going to get out of here if Kim isn’t ready to. “I’m gonna dry myself off. Meet you upstairs in ten.”
RM and Suga head upstairs, where Jungkook is relieved to see his friend. He gives him a quick hug and a pat on the back.
As soon as the captain was ready, he went to see Kim. The others leave the room at his request, closing the door behind them. They head over to an empty room down the hallway, and RM sighs when his butt melts into the couch.
“He doesn’t look too good.” RM comments.
Jungkook shakes his head. “He’s not. His heart’s gonna give out if he’s not careful.”
“Hopefully he’ll be fine by tomorrow.” Suga says, “You know he’ll want to leave by then. And we have to as well. We can’t go back to the apartment. We have to leave straight from here.”
The other two listen quietly.
“We’ll go get Y/N of course,” Suga says, earning a smile from Jungkook, “then we have to go. We can’t afford any more hiccups.”
“What are we gonna do about Hongjun?” Jungkook asks, “He’s not gonna give her up so easily.”
“I’ll kill him if I have to.”
“Suga…”
“Do you want her safe or not?” Suga asks, and Jungkook nods, visibly upset. “Don’t worry. You won’t be the one to pull the trigger. I’ll do it.”
Jungkook frowns, looking away. He despises Hongjun with a passion, but he doesn’t want Suga to have to kill for him.
“Have we heard from the other teams?” RM changes the subject.
“Most of them have gone into hiding after they got the news.” Suga says. “They’re on their own until they hear from us.”
“I wonder what happened to Barome.” Jungkook then asks.
Suga shrugs. “He and Kim worked out an escape plan together. But I guess he dipped once he heard about the raid. Who knows where he is now.”
𝄖
The sun is almost up; the bar is closed and workers start to leave. Jungkook knocks on one of the doors, opening it only an inch of the way. Inside, Bella’s packing up after her shift. Her eyes light up in his presence.
He closes the door behind him and she immediately goes in for a hug. “I’m so glad you’re safe.”
“Me too.” He says, smiling.
Bella can see through him. Other than being sleep-deprived, something else is occupying his mind.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” he shakes his head, “I just wanted to ask if you’ve heard from Barome?”
“Not since he went underground.” She says.
“What about the girls? Did he give you any instructions?”
“No.” She frowns. “They’re still at the apartment Barome set up for them.”
Jungkook sighs. “Okay. I just wanted to find out if you had any info on him. He was supposed to leave with Kim but now that Kim’s hurt and plans have changedwe wanted to know what he’s gonna do.”
“Well I wouldn’t put it past him to leave without Kim.” Bella says. “It’s just business to them. I doubt Kim’s condition matters to him at all.”
“That sucks.” Jungkook mutters, exhaling loudly.
She can see how exhausted he is. Bella leads him by the hand to the couch. She sits and pats her lap. When he doesn’t budge, she tugs him down and forces him to lie on the couch, resting his head on her lap. Despite resisting at first, Jungkook slowly relaxes, letting out a relieved sigh this time. Bella strokes the side of his face.
“How’d you manage with your leg like that?” Bella asks, noticing the way he favours his left leg.
“It’s fine I’m on antibiotics…and some other stuff for the pain.” He mumbles.
Bella raises a brow. “Other stuff?”
Jungkook presses his lips together. “Just a little bit…it really helps.”
“You know you shouldn’t⎼”
“I know I know,” he whines, closing his eyes, “I’ll stop once it’s better. And honestly, I couldn’t even feel anything last night. It all happened so fast. All the adrenaline must’ve blocked out the pain.”
Bella doesn’t say anything else. She runs her hand through his hair and presses down on some spots.
“Y/N used to give me head rubs like this…" He says.
“For free? I usually charge for this." She says and he chuckles.
“I miss her.” He says. “We were supposed to go get her in a couple of days but things are so complicated now. Suga found her, did he tell you that? But he won’t let me go after her yet.”
“That hasn’t stopped you before, has it?” Bella asks, fixing his hair. “You have time right now, you could go and get her.”
“It’s too dangerous to go alone.” Jungkook says. “Besides, Suga wants me here…he said he’ll come with me once Kim is gone…this is all my fault.”
“It’s not your fault.”
“It kinda is.” Jungkook turns and looks up at the ceiling. “I just hope I can get to her in time.”
“In time?”
Jungkook shuts his eyes. Bella presses her hand over his forehead. It’s as if she could feel the chaos going on in his mind. Then after a while, he opens his eyes again and looks at her. She smiles.
“We have to leave soon.” He says and the corners of her mouth drop.
“Oh…” She gulps. “Is this a goodbye then?”
“They’re gonna come look for us here.” Jungkook ignores her question. “So we can’t stay for long. Neither can you. You settled everything right? Like I told you to? You have somewhere to go?”
She nods.
Jungkook sits up and holds her hands in his. “Bella, do you trust me?”
“Of course I do.” She looks at him with worry and confusion.
“With every cell in your body?”
“I trust you with my whole life.”
“I need your help.” Jungkook exhales, and his grip on her tightens. “I need you to listen very carefully to what I’m about to tell you.”

stars around my scars; kth. | 03.
pairing: taehyung x fem!reader genre: college au, goodgirl x badboy (sort of), angst, fluff warnings: lowercase writing, swearing, drinking, infidelity (not between you and tae), taehyung calls you 'angel', can be confusing at times (i'm a beginner and not a native english speaker), taehyung's "bad" reputation is slowly revealing, jungwon is a dick (nothing new), the end is kinda nice?? idk you tell me summary: people are not always what they seem. you learned that the hard way, when you caught your boyfriend cheating, the night that was supposed to be one of the best ones you ever experienced. but on the same night you also learned that in everything bad, there’s always a little bit of good. wc: 4.8k
series masterlist
after that night you never missed a chance to hang out with your newfound friends. well, mostly taehyung. the two of you would hang out on campus, study in the library accompanied (correction: annoyed) by jungkook, or get together at his place. you found out that he has a dog, a cute ball of fluff named yeontan, with the meanest expression you’ve ever seen. it seemed like he hated you, but taehyung reassured you that he behaves like this with everyone except him, so you shouldn’t take it personally. you didn’t, but also didn’t stop trying to make the little pup like you. no luck so far.
as you spent more and more time with taehyung and the closer you got to him, the harder it was to see him as the “bad boy” everyone paints him to be. at first glance, maybe, he seemed cold, but all it took is to catch him smile to see how warm of a person he actually is. he was kind-hearted and comforting with a beautiful, box-shaped smile that would make anyone else smile as well. what you didn’t notice about him though, was the fact that he was like that only around you. for everyone else, he remained as the mysterious boy with a mean expression and a bad reputation. a reputation he didn’t even earn, but they didn’t know that. you did.
november passed so quickly like this, and december was on the same track. by the time you noticed the fast passing of the months, it was time to pack for christmas break. usually, this time of the year was your favorite, but recent events weakened the relationship between you and your mother, so you weren’t so eager to go home. on the other hand, meeting her might be great opportunity to finally get on the same page.
as soon as you got off the train, the chilly december wind immediately made its way under your coat, making you shiver. you grabbed your suitcase with one hand and your bag’s strap with the other and carefully cut through the crowd, looking for your mom. passing a few overly emotional parents, you finally noticed her. she immediately made her way towards you, smiling wide. you didn’t realize just how much you missed her, until she appeared in front of you. differences or not, she was still your mom, the one person who was always there for you, no matter what. you dropped the bag from your shoulder on the top of the suitcase and greeted your mother with an embrace.
“i missed you.”
“i missed you too, sweetheart.” she replied, hugging you tightly. “how was the ride?”
“y’know, just the usual. loud, crowded and never-ending.” you said, picking your bags up as the two of you headed towards the car.
“why didn’t you buy a first-class ticket?” your mom raised an eyebrow as she opened the trunk.
“i did, but it’s christmas break, everyone’s coming home.” you explained, helping her pack your bags in the car.
“i’m glad you came home safely.”
on your way home, she asked you about your studies, which was one of her favorite activities. she never forgot to remind you that she had to go through the same experiences, always asking about her favorite professors - even though most of them already retired years ago - and giving you advice on how you should do this and that. you hated when she did that, trying to control your life, but now, as long as you didn’t have to talk about your ex, everything was fine.
stepping inside the house, you instantly felt your whole body fill with warmth, literally and metaphorically. it felt good, being at a place that didn’t feel empty and cold.
you unpacked most of your stuff and helped your mom with the last touches of the christmas decorations. ever since your dad left, you and your mom spent christmases by yourselves, decorating the house, and the tree, baking cookies, planning what you will make for dinner on christmas eve and giving each other personalized gifts. it wasn’t any different this year either, christmas passed pleasantly and peacefully, and you thought that your home’s atmosphere would stay at this state ‘til the end of winter break. but you were wrong. so wrong.
your family had a tradition, to organize a dinner party between the two holidays. on december 30th, all your family friends would gather at your house for a fancy, champagne-sipping type of event. although the number of guests slowly decreased ever since your dad wasn’t part of these events anymore, your mom still decided to organize it every year. it meant a lot to her. and that’s why, no matter how much you wanted to go, you had to skip taehyung’s birthday, in order to support your mother. jungkook begged you to go, standing in front of you with joined hands every time he caught you alone somewhere. it took him a whole week to understand that you have to be there. you thought about going, you thought about it a lot, and you really wanted to but you just couldn’t let your mom down.
“so, who’s coming tonight?” you asked, stealing a cupcake from the tray while your mom was busy organizing the table.
“the lims and kangs will be present, haerin said they will have to bring nabi too, their babysitter quit again.” nabi had a new babysitter almost every month, not everyone could handle her shenanigans. but you were one of the few who did, so you were happy they’re bringing her along too.
“oh, and of course the parks. jungwon is coming too. maybe you two can work on your differences tonight.”
and there it was, the names you feared the most. you couldn’t believe what you just heard. it’s not enough that he’s coming here, to your house, your mom expects you to talk to him? talk to him and treat him like he didn’t just ruin your life?
“you are unbelievable. i thought you let this all go, that you finally believe me.” the gathering teardrops burned your eyes, but you were more stubborn than to let them fall.
“i do believe you, sweetheart. i just don’t want you to hold a grudge forever.”
you didn’t say anything, just turned around and went upstairs to your room. you were too angry to cry, besides, you promised yourself that no more tears will be shed for jungwon, cause he does not deserve it. instead, you took a deep breath to clear your mind and figured that if you’re stuck with this dinner, you might as well make the most of it. so you dug up the hottest dress from the bottom of your dresser, paired it with some high heels, did a full face makeup (not just the usual mascara and lipgloss duo) and styled your hair. adding the final touches, standing in front of the full-lenght mirror, you were quite pleased with the outcome. nothing was too extreme on their own, but the little black dress, the makeup and the styled hair together created a look that was rather eye-catching.
as the clock passed seven, tonight’s guests slowly started arriving. every time the door opened, you quickly found a chore for yourself so your mom would greet the guests instead of you. the kangs were the first, as always. they were a precise and meticulous couple, with no kids. they were too busy, plus mrs. kang is a neatnik, so it’s probably better it’s just the two of them. the next guests were haerin and soohyuk, and their adorable baby, nabi. they were quite the opposite of the kangs, never on time, always leaving or losing something, let it be nabi’s pacifier or haerin’s keys, something always gets left behind. they might have been a little bit chaotic, but their always bright and kind nature certainly made up for it. they were followed by the lims, the eldest of the bunch, and last, the park family. haerin was very happy when she realized, that this is the first time they aren’t the last ones to arrive. you, on the other hand, weren’t so happy they showed up.
you were in the living room playing with nabi when you felt a light tap on your shoulder. you turned around to see who is it, letting out a deep sigh when you faced them.
“hi.” jungwon greeted you with a smile. too bad you can’t return the favor. “you look pretty.”
“thanks.” you reply, and divert back your full attention to the baby girl, who seems just as annoyed by jungwon’s presence as you are, but you might have been just projecting.
“can we talk?” he was still standing there, not taking the obvious hints.
“no.” you answered, picking nabi up in your arms. you took her to the kitchen, which was, luckily, empty. she looked up at you, confused as of why you took her away from her toys, silently demanding an answer.
“sorry little one, the bad man was bothering me.”
“he is bad man?” nabi’s widely opened eyes suggested that you will need to elaborate on that statement a little further.
“don’t worry, he won’t hurt you” you said, softly pinching her cheek, as she smiled in relief.
since every one of the guests was here, it was time to start the dinner. you and your mom prepared a three-course meal for tonight, consisting of an appetizer, the main course and dessert. neither of you liked to brag about it, but both you and your mom were really great cooks, which was one of the key factors of tonight’s success. the dinner was quite delightful, when you weren’t helping out your mom, you spent most of the time talking to haerin and entertaining nabi, so her parents can eat in peace. you were in the middle of a sentence, when you heard your name from somewhere across the table. it was jungwon’s mom, trying to get your attention.
“yes, mrs. park. can i help you?”
“not me, darling.” she smiled forcefully, then turned to his son. “go on.”
you raised an eyebrow, not having an idea what is about to happen. does he want to publicly apologize?
“um, y/n i… i think you owe me an apology.”
you physically had to hold yourself back from yelling “what the fuck” in his face. after all, you couldn’t curse in front of a three year old.
“what do you mean?” you asked instead, clenching your fist so tight, you could feel your nails digging into your skin.
“your behavior towards me. it breaks my heart how easily you switched up on me, without listening to my side of the story.” he would be an excellent actor. so convincing that if you were just a little more gullible, you would actually believe that it’s you who is in the wrong here. he’s playing his part to perfection, making all the guests believe that what happened is actually your fault. suddenly the whole room is quiet, all eyes are on you.
“oh, how rude of me.” you say, dramatically touching your chest. he wants drama? well, he can get it. “i’m sorry for breaking up with you after you neglected me and our relationship for weeks. oh, and after you cheated on me while i was trying to fix our dying relationship. i am a terrible person for doing it, am i not?” you didn’t hold back, put your personal life all out there for everyone. you were tired of his lies, it was time to clear it all up. and that’s all it it took. you snapped him out of the act in seconds. you could see his eye twitch, his grip tightening around the utensils he’s holding. he opens his mouth to speak again, but your mom precedes him.
“you didn’t tell me that.”
“cause you never asked!” the awkward silence in the room made your voice sound even louder. she realized just now how wrong it was not to trust her own child. she opens her mouth, but closes it immediately, the guilt is stopping her from answering. there’s someone else in the room though, who’s guilt is not as strong, unfortunately.
“don’t try and blame it all on me!” jungwon says, out of nowhere, his whiny tone makes him sound like child. “let’s talk about that shady guy you left with during halloween, do you still hang out, hm? i’m sure your mom wouldn’t like you to be around such people like him” he glances at your mom to see her expression and when it’s what he’s hoped for, he continues “that’s why you didn’t tell her, right?”
“y/n? what is he talking about?” your mom, finally able to speak again, turns to you. you’re furious, eyes locked on the the loose-lipped guy sitting across you. your mind is in shambles, unable to think straight, so you squeeze your fists under the table even tighter, nails digging deeper and deeper into the soft skin of your palms, to prevent you from losing it. he’s enjoying it, that he has control again, diverting all attention from his wrongdoings back to your personal life. the other guests are shamelessly attentive, silently compelling an answer from you. when you don’t give one, jungwon turns to your mom and answers instead.
“kim taehyung. i’m sure it rings a bell for everyone.” he leans back into his chair, arms crossed, trying hard to hide how proud he is of himself. the room that was quiet until now is filled with gasps and oh my gods.
“are you out of your mind, y/n?!” your mom raises her voice to get your attention. “that’s the son of a criminal!”
all these people around you, acting like they know him just because they heard what his father did, made you even more frustrated. they had no right to talk about him the way they did, not when they don’t know him like you do. the picture they saw when they heard taehyung’s name couldn’t be more different than who he actually was, but none of them were interested in that. it was easier to place him in that box full of lies an misconceptions.
“i’m done.” you said, getting up from the table. you weren’t ready to have this conversation right now, when you knew that you can’t tell your side of the story nor change their minds anyways, no matter how hard you tried. thanks to jungwon, they already decided what the want to believe and clinged to it tightly. your mom tried to stop you from leaving, demanding an explanation, but you just shook her hands off yours and left, without looking back. you grabbed your coat and with the front door’s loud slam, you were gone.
walking aimlessly on a cold december night certainly helped you to clear your mind. you weren’t angry anymore, but undoubtably disappointed. first in your mother, but mostly in yourself. all these years have passed, yet you still can’t stand up for yourself, nor for someone you care about. though you rarely gave up without a fight, there were two people who always overpowered you. jungwon and your mom.
walking long distances in high heels was never exactly your strong suit, so when you reached the “lover’s bench” just a few blocks away from your house, it felt like a reward. rumor has it, if you sit on this bench with someone, you will end up falling in love with each other and stay together forever, and it did work out for some. not for you, though. soojin and jungwon both sat on this bench with you, and, well we see how that worked out.
as you sat there, massaging your sore legs, you noticed a car, slowing down as it approached you. you grabbed one of your heels, ready to use it as a weapon if it comes to that. the dark window rolled down, and behind it, a familiar face appeared. someone you haven’t seen in years.
“y/n, is that you?” the man was squinting his eyes, trying to recognize you in the dark.
“dad?! what the hell are you doing here?” you asked, eyes wide open.
“it’s… complicated. get in, you must be freezing out here.” he opened the door from the driver’s seat, but you refused.
“no way. not until you tell me what you want.”
he took a deep breath, contemplating how to tell you. “i came to apologize. now get in.”
he wasn’t wrong about you freezing, so after a few seconds, you gave in. in the end, he’s still your dad, it’s not like he’s gonna kidnap you.
“you’re a a few years late with that, don’t you think?” you turned to him, after closing the door.
“i know i am.” he turns to you too, after pulling over. “i want to apologize for what i did. and for taking so long to do so. i was a coward and ran away instead of facing the consequences of my actions. i’m sorry, but i couldn’t look in your eyes after that. i was ashamed, and i ran.”
you’ve never seen your dad like this before. so vulnerable, speaking from his heart. this was the first time hearing his side of the story. up until today, all you knew was that he cheated on your mom and ran away with the other woman. but if what he says is true, the latter never actually happened.
“so.. you left us because you felt guilty and ashamed and not because you loved someone else and wanted to be with her?” you ask after a few silent moments.
“i never saw her after that night. it was a reckless mistake, nothing more.”
“that doesn’t make it right, though. it changes things, but only slightly.” you’re aware how harsh your tone is, but you don’t really care. what he did was still wrong, and you’re not going to forgive nor forget so easily.
“i don’t expect you to forgive me, but thank you for listening.”
you nod quietly in response, not knowing what words would be appropriate in this situation.
“do you think your mom would listen to me as well?” he asks after a few moments of silence.
“oh, yeah definitely. she’s quick to forgive cheaters these days.” you scoff, causing your dad to stare at you with a shocked expression, reminding you that he’s kind of out of the loop.
“my boyfriend cheated on me, but she insists that i forgive him or something, cause he’s her best friend’s son.” you explain it quickly.
“oh.. wow.” your dad is still in shock, hence the short response. “that’s why you aren’t at the dinner right now, cause he is there, isn’t he?”
“that dinner was a whole mess.”
“no drunk stories from kang?” he asks with a playful smile, remembering the times he used to be part of this event, bringing out mr. kang’s not-so-perfect side. your dad made him drink just a bit more than he was supposed to, and he turned into a whole new person, telling stories from his young adulthood, which were mostly true, but definitely spiced up a little, for entertainment purposes. he even made his uptight wife smile once or twice.
“no, not this time.” you smile faintly, as the memories return, and you have to admit - although, only to yourself - that these dinners weren’t the same without your dad. nothing was. your mom tried to make up for everything that was missing after he left, and you appreciated her efforts, but something was always missing, and even though you hated to feel that way, there wasn’t a day when you didn’t miss your dad. you surpassed those feeling during the years, but now as you’re sitting beside him reminiscing the moments of the past, they’re slowly breaking free.
“i figure that home is the last place you want to be right now, so you’re welcome to stay at my hotel room, if you want.” he offers after a very accurate observation.
“i’ll think about it, thanks.” you nod with a weak smile.
“is there anything else i can do to make you feel better? i might not know what happened, but i can see that it’s tearing you. and i hate to see you like that.” there he is. the man that always sees right through you, no matter how deep you hide your feelings.
“actually, there is something you could do..”
before you entered the apartment complex, you took out your phone to leave a short message for your mom. sure, she was mad at you and you were mad at her, but you knew that she’s probably worried sick, cause you left a long time ago, and haven’t returned. you informed her that you’re fine, and told her not to wait, cause you’re probably not coming home tonight. after pressing ‘send’, you slipped the device back to your pocket and headed upstairs. the click-clacks of your heels were awfully loud in the quiet hallway, but luckily for the residents (and for you too, let’s be honest) you didn’t have to climb a lot of stairs to reach the apartment. you knock on the door once, no answer. you knock again, still nothing. you raise your hand to try again, but then the door suddenly whips open, revealing a furrow-browed boy behind it. his eyes widen at the sight of you, a grin forming on his lips.
“heeey, you made it. though you might be a little overdressed.” jungkook pulls you into a tight hug after scrutinizing you from head to toe. he did mention that this birthday party is not exactly a party, considering that it’s just him, taehyung and yeontan, so your appearance was, indeed, a bit too much. but your presence was appreciated anyway.
“yeah. change of plans. the birthday boy?” you ask, after quickly scanning the room.
“in the kitchen, preparing the goods.” jungkook imitates drinking from a bottle as he replies. “hurry up, hyung, your angel is here.”
“since when do you call me angel?” you look up at him, one eyebrow cocked, while taking off your shoes.
“can’t help it, fits so well.” jungkook says, helping you take off your coat.
as you approach the kitchen, you’re held off by yeontan, who’s sitting right in front of your feet. he looks up at you, tiny head tilted, his tongue peeking out. you bend down a little to pat his head, but as your hands gets closer, he growls, like always.
“tan, be nice.” taehyung appears behind him, handing you a glass of something as you straighten up. “i’m glad you could make it.” he says, smiling shyly.
“me too. happy birthday, taehyung.” you clink your glass to his, returning the smile.
the two of you join jungkook in the living room, who’s currently laying on the floor, for some reason. you stare at him, confused as you sit down on the couch, which he notices soon.
“it’s good for your back, trust me. well not yours, but mine.” he says, and sure, he is right, but right now you can read his behavior as a side effect of being tipsy. he downed the drink taehyung made technically in one go. looking at him do it, you decide it’s time you taste yours. you weren’t a big fan of alcohol, never understood how can people like something that tastes so horrible. you took a sip, and for your surprise, it tasted quite good.
“what’s in this?” you asked, pointing at the glass.
“it’s a secret.” taehyung and jungkook replied in sync, both of them having a mischievous grin on their faces.
you couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle at the sight. during the past few weeks you had a chance to observe the friendship between jungkook and taehyung, and the best term to describe it was partners in crime. they were always up to something, giggling and doing their own personalized handshake while doing so. it was, indeed an endearing sight, and you always caught yourself smiling whenever you watched them together. but between all the mischief and bickering, there was also love and caring. neither of them were the type to say it out loud, but it was there, in the small gestures. watching them sometimes made you feel something, deeply, in the innermost nook of your heart. that used to be soojin’s place.
the rest of the night went on quite pleasantly. thanks to jungkook’s shitty memory, in the end you could personally give taehyung his gift, - which he made you promise not to buy, but it’s not your fault that his favorite artist has an exhibition and you were lucky enough to get tickets for it. in exchange, he insisted you go with him, saying that jungkook doesn’t appreciate art and he would end up making fun of the displayed pieces, so you agreed. during the night you told the boys all about the adventures of the dinner and that your dad is back. their shocked expressions were priceless and a perfect representation of how you felt the whole night.
after a few more drinks, and jungkook passing out on the couch, you called your dad to take you home. well, to his hotel. it was really late - or early, depends on perspective - so you didn’t want to bother your mom with your late arrival nor your dad’s sudden appearance. he agreed, and after a short debate on whether leaving jungkook alone like this is a good idea or not, taehyung decided, he will walk you out anyways. you two walked down the sidewalk quietly, waiting to spot your dad’s car somewhere in the parking lot. both of you felt that something in the air, but none of you could break the silence, not even with all that liquid courage in your system. at some point you stopped, taehyung did the same, and without giving too much thought to it, you hugged him, wrapping your arms around his waist. you noticed his heart rate increasing, thanks to your impulsive act, but he was quick to bring it back to normal, pulling you closer, resting his chin on the top of your head. even with you high heels, you were still short next to him.
“thank you for coming tonight, it really meant a lot.”
“i’m sorry i couldn’t come sooner, it’s just, i had to be there for mom…”
“hey, it’s fine,” he cuts you off, lifting your chin, to look at him. “you still made it, that’s what matters.”
as you locked eyes with him, standing there in the pale moonlight, accompanied by nothing but the deep silence of the night, the whole world around you seemed to disappear, leaving just the two of you, standing there, wrapped in each other’s arms. at least that’s what it would’ve felt like if the sharp sound of your message notification wouldn’t have pulled you back to reality. you let go of taehyung, reaching into your pocket. it was your dad, informing you that he’s here. the moment you had disappeared in a blink of an eye, which made you believe that you were thinking too much of it.
“it’s my dad, i gotta go.” you looked up at him once again, though this time, with a little more distance between the two of you.
“sure. i should go check on jungkook anyway.” taehyung said, standing a little awkwardly now, with both hands in his back pockets.
“say goodbye to him for me. good night.” you smiled softly.
“will do. take care, angel.”
sitting in your dad’s car, now on your way to the hotel, you could still smell taehyung’s cologne on yourself. you weren’t complaining about it, though.
“so, who is the boy?” you dad inquired.
“that’s taehyung. it was his birthday.. well yesterday.” you replied, glancing at your watch.
“i mean, who is he to you?”
“oh.. he’s a friend.” you answered naturally, but your dad did not seem convinced. sure, you spent a lot of time together, you knew all things he likes and dislikes, or how he gets shy and fidgety when complimented. and sure, every time he smiled at you, you would get flustered, every time he looked at you, you felt like you could get lost in those chocolate brown eyes of his, and you loved how your name - whether ‘angel’ or your real one - sounded in his deep, velvety voice. and sure, you might’ve been fantasizing about how it would feel to kiss him, not even five minutes ago, but that was just a silly little thought, friends can still be like that, right?
a/n. hello lovelies! here i present the third chapter. i think i worked the most on this one, but it's my favorite so far, even tho a lot of things happen at once lol. anyways, i hope you like it, and look forward to the next. likes, rbs, comments always appreaciated. take care ❤️🩹

However, having spent the last three years unavailable, you are not sure you know how to get back out there again, let alone if you even want to. That is, until you meet Jeon Jungkook, the barista at your college coffee shop. He is more than happy to help you wet your toes in the dating scene again, but at what cost?
Previous Chapter | Next Chapter (Coming Soon)
Pairing: Jungkook x Reader
Genre: A little of everything
Word Count: 5k
College!Jungkook, somewhat FuckBoy!Jungkook
A/N: Happy Holidays! Hope you enjoy!
Chop chop chop.
The sharpened metal sliced through its target with mastered ease. Every slice produced was cut with nearly impossible uniformity, with only the bare minimal going to waste. With each downwards glide of the knife, sharp aromas burst into the air, stimulating the senses. The smell alone encouraged the blade to move faster to the point that it waltzed along its wooden dance floor in a blur of vibrant red, green, and sterling silver. The experience was mesmerizing in itself; the outcome all the greater.
“Look at them.” A nearby voice sneered, judgment rolling from it in waves. The sound drew your thoughts away from your task long enough for your concentration to slip. The knife you had been skillfully wielding to chop up the peppers missed its target and instead kissed the side of your finger. A sharp hiss passed your lips from the sting, but your roommate continued to glare into the living room ignorantly. “Longing around the living room with a beer in hand while us women slave away in the kitchen. What are we, freakin’ house wives?”
“Yes,” You spat with as little condescension as could be managed while using your other hand to rummage through the junk drawer blindly for the bandage box. “Because the division of labor between us two women is split so evenly.”
“What?” She had the nerve to raise the pitch of her voice as she averted her gaze away from the boys. “I’ve helped!”
Using your teeth you tore at the bandage wrapping, all while leveling Minjin with an even stare. “Namjoon has been more of a help and his only job is to not break anything.”
“And a wonderful job I’ve been doing.” Namjoon sauntered in, raising his beer in a silent cheer. “Plus, me and Minho hyung carried everything up here and set up the living room while somebody fussed about their make-up.”
Your roommate’s cheeks tinged pink. “He was early! I had to hurry and get ready!”
“Actually, I was on time.” A pair of arms slithered around the woman’s waist from behind, eliciting a small yelp from her. “You were running late.”
“Again.” Namjoon accentuated your guest’s statement while sipping at his bear. “Plus, how long have you two been together? Does it even matter if he sees you without make up anymore?”
The couple both responded in contradicting fashions, much to your amusement. However, with a quick glance at the time, it faded quickly. With new fervor, you quickly went back to preparing your concoction. “Two minutes ‘til game time guys.”
That quickly woke everyone up. Namjoon sat down his beer and stepped up. “Okay, less than a hundred and twenty seconds on the clock guys. Y/N, finish up your salsa and cheese dip, hyung, check the bean dip in the oven, Minjin, grab the alcohol and shot classes, I’ll get the sliders and hot dogs, meet in the living room in sixty seconds. Break!”
With a clap of the hands, the kitchen broke out into frenzy. Right off the bat Namjoon started moving before the play was called, starting the desperate college students off badly with a false start. The game then picked up with Minjin racing to the liquor cabinets only to be blocked by Minho approaching from her left. Meanwhile, Namjoon scrambled around them and headed for his target. Entrees in hand, he set his eyes on the end zone. However, first step in that direction and he’s fumbling the play. He frantically let out a desperate cry as he lunged to reclaim it, but Minho stealthily intercepts it.
“Check the bean dip!” he shouted over his shoulder as he scrambles around Minjin, who was struggling with her position as drink handler. To his right, you did your best to pull a hail Mary with your concoctions in the middle of this broken play.
“Done!” Namjoon let out a victorious shout as he reached in the oven bare handed to pull out the dip. Spotting her teammates error in judgment, Minjin cried out towards him but it is too late. With an anguish filled yelp, Namjoon stumbled back, cradling his burnt hand to his chest.
“Oppa, get to the living room, I got this!” you ordered to Minho, piling your prized recipes in your injured roommates arms before shoving him towards the end zone. “Go, go, go!”
His injury quickly forgotten, he hugged the bowls in his arms and rans down the field. You’re just about to get back to your task when you spot it; Minjin forgot the packet of shot glasses. “Oppa! Heads up!” You tossed the package to Minho, affectively passing them into the end zone. All that is left now is the dip.
“Y/N, hurry, the games about to start!” Minjin warned as she hurries to tear open the package Minho passed to her.
“Ten seconds!” Namjoon added, checking the time on his phone.
With speed you did not know you possessed, you shoved on the oven mitts and dived in to pull out the dip before making a sharp one eighty-degree turn and rushed for the final touchdown.
Ten feet…
Six feet…
Two and a Half…
Two…
One and three-quarters…
With an ear busting cheer from your teammates, you dove for the spot between Minjin and Namjoon backside first just in time to see the kick-off.
Minjin leans away from you with a small yelp. “Watch where you’re swinging that. I don’t want to end up like Joonie.”
“Joonie did that to himself,” you defended, setting the dip on the small section of empty space in the vast feast before you. Someone had managed to add small packaged pastries to the assortment without you realizing it. You were entirely grateful for it too. “Anyways, is it going to be me and Namjoon for the home team?”
“Hey!” Minjin protested, sitting up straight with a scowl. “Why do I have to play for the enemy?”
From behind her Minho watched his lover argue with a fond smile forming in the corner of his lips, as if he truly found even her disgust to be associated with his school team to be cute. It was not something you could quite wrap your head around.
“Because you’re dating the enemy.” Your teammate remarked as he readied two shot glasses. “Sorry hyung.”
Being acknowledged snapped Minho out of whatever daze he had fallen into. His once love-sick smile was now replaced with a grin filled with mischief. “Where is your sense of loyalty to the love of your life, babe?”
She pursed her lips. “Fine. But only because our school teams sucks anyways.”
“Ha!” you exclaimed, moving to sit at the edge of your seat as your favorite defender sacked the opposing team. The impact was so forceful you couldn’t help but wince a bit in sympathy for the victim. Nonetheless, you didn’t let it deter you from thrusting the liquid punishment towards your roommate. “Karmas a bitch. Now drink up traitor.”
She accepted the shot glass with a scowl. “Competitions is ugly on you, you know.”
“That’s not very fair,” Minho defended, downing his shot in a quick tilt of his head. “I think it just brings out her inner colors.”
“More like her inner ugly.” Your roommate grumbled around the shot glass before downing it in much the same fashion as her teammate. With a small grimace she slammed the glass back down on the table. “Fill it up, slut. The next round will be for your losing ass.”
“Aren’t men supposed to be the overly competitive sex?” Namjoon inquired from beside you. His eyes drifted from between you and Minjin with half a smile starting to form on his perplexed face.
Minjin sneered. “That’s sexist.”
“Keep it up, Joonie.” Your eyes never left the screen as you spoke. “Keep goading her, we’ll have this game in the bag.”
That got her attention. “Hey, you still have to take a drink whether or not we spot it or not.”
You shook your head as you spoke. “If a tree farts and no one is around to hear it, does it leave a smell? No. And since no one smelt it, it’s like no one dealt it. Therefore, I don’t have to drink.”
The room fell into a silence as all eyes turned in your direction. Some, like Minjin, didn’t seem like she knew if she wanted to argue with your reasoning or give it to you for your creativity. Others, such as the male population, looked as if they had bitten into a lemon.
“That’s not how that saying goes,” Namjoon finally spoke up, looking you up and down with a slightly scrunched up nose.
“And I’m pretty sure what you’re talking about is cheating.” The older man added, a smile starting to tug at his lips despite himself.
“Honey, honey.” Minjin interjected, patting her boyfriend’s knee gently. “Give her that one, she earned it.”
Raising your bottle of beer in the air, you tilted it in her direction. “Damn straight I did.”
“Plus,” A small smirk formed on the other woman’s face. “By her own reasoning, we don’t have to take a shot for that penalty.”
“What?” Your head snapped in the direction of the screen just in time to see the referee calling the move. “Bullshit, take your drink you hoe!”
The bickering that followed would be one of many that would break out in the following hours. Sometime between the argument of what is considered a victory dance and the chip incident where Namjoon somehow managed to trip over the table at just the right angle to send the chip bowl flying back into the room it came from, the snacks that were once in plenty of supply had dried up to a few bits and pieces scattered between wrappers and used up napkins. By the time halftime came around, there was only breadcrumbs and what was left of the liquor standing proudly upon the ravaged table.
“Wow.” Minjin eyed the disaster that laid before her with wide eyes. “We’re pigs.”
“Excuse me?” Namjoon raised an eyebrow at his roommate. “This was all you two. I barely got one chip in before they were all gone.”
“Maybe if you hadn’t of kicked the chips off to Neverland you would’ve gotten some.” She countered, tilting her head towards the kitchen. Off in the distance the once clean floor was now a graveyard for the forgotten sliced potatoes who were whisked away before they could’ve fulfilled their crunchy destiny. Now they lay crumbled and defeated on the tile flooring, abandoned by their owner but never forgotten. The reminder pulled a hearty sigh from you as you looked on at the tragic sight.
“Speaking of which…” Oppa spoke up, glancing in the same direction as you. “Are we really not going to go pick that up?”
“Leave it.” Gloom took root in your voice as you spoke. “They are a reminder of what was lost.”
“Hyung is right, we’re going to get ants.”
The doubt was clear in the look you shot him. “We’re on the second floor.”
He merely gave a shrug. “Bugs don’t discriminate.”
“I don’t do bugs.” With a small shiver, Minjin stood up. “You guys clean that up, I’m heading to the market to grab a few snacks for the rest of the game.”
Minho perked up at the mention of food. “Oh, get those cute sugar cookies while you’re out. You know, with the sprinkles.”
That got Namjoon’s attention. “Oh, and those gummies. The one’s shaped like the Minions, not those fake Ninja Turtle shits they sell.”
A smirk slowly formed as she leaned down to grab her purse. “I’m dating a child.”
“Hey, we’re manly.” The offense that took form in the older mans tone was matched by the slight puffing of his chest.
Your roommate nodded in agreement. “Our manliness is so great we’re not even threatened by your attempt to emasculate us.” Despite his noble words, you didn’t miss the way his muscles flexed against the fabric of his sleeves.
“Right. My mistake.” Her teeth flashed the group as her lips spread out into a brilliant smile. “I’ll be back in ten.”
“Don’t forget my cookies!” Minho called after her.
“And chips!” You added hastily after glancing at the graveyard once more.
With a roll of her eyes, she said her final goodbye before closing the door after her. Minho stared after her for a few moments, seeming to be counting down to something in his head. Soon after he sat up straighter, turning his full attention to the remaining of the group. “I need to talk to you guys.”
His statement caught you as you were scooping the remaining fudge that clung to the pastry wrapper with your finger. The delectable chocolate had barely passed your lips when he had turned in your direction. With the wide eyes of someone who had been caught in the act, you reply with an startled, “What?”
The older graduate paid you no mind, already used to your shameless behavior. “Our anniversary is coming up. Mine and MinMin’s.”
Joonie visibly cringed from the nickname. “We’re very much aware.”
“Yeah, well I want to make it special.” Minho continued on. “And as you know, your apartment is the first place we met…”
This time it was your turn to scrunch up your face. “Please, we are all very much aware of your rom-com worthy love story.”
Namjoon nodded vigorously. “Painfully so.”
Minho had the decency to smile sheepishly. “Well, I was thinking I could re-enact it here. You know, buy her favorite pizza, put on my old uniform, come and surprise her with dinner and a bunch of other cheesy memory lane stuff. But it would kind of be ruined if her two roommates were in the apartment to reminisce with us…”
You blinked a couple of times. “He’s trying to kick us out of our apartment.”
“Minjin would love that though.” To your horror, you noticed the smile that was forming on your friend’s face. “You know how into that cringy romantic shit she is.”
“But…” you stammered, buying yourself time to think up an excuse. “But where would I go?”
“You’d be more than welcome to stay at my place.” Minho offered helpfully, blinding you with his annoyingly hopeful smile.
It did nothing to stop the taste of bile that rose to your throat. “With Jinho? Yeah, that definitely isn’t going to happen.”
Namjoon shrugged. “I’m going to go stay with Hoseok, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind.”
“I can hear Yoongi oppa complaining now.” Just one look at the doe eyed man in front of you had a sigh being extracted from you. “Fine, I’ll brave Jihyun’s couch.”
Before you could comprehend what was happened, a pair of strong arms was encircling you in a tight hug. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
A chuckle escaped your lips despite yourself. “Yeah, well, you guys are too cute to stand in your way anyways.”
“Sickeningly so.” A smile broke on Namjoon’s lips at his words.
Minho’s grin lit up his face. “Really, thank you. Minjin will love it. I just know it.”
“Just don’t love it on any surface that is communal.” Namjoon’s nose crinkled as he spoke. Your head quickly nodded along with his statement. No one wanted to relive what happened last time the lovebirds had the apartment to themselves. Some thing could not be unseen.
He older man ducked his head with a sheepish grin. “Will do.”
“Well, we might as well get to cleaning up the kitchen,” you stated grimly. “Minjin will not let us live it down if she finds a bug in the apartment.”
“Nose goes!” Minho had his finger flying to the tip of his nose before the words even passed his lips. You were quick to follow fashion, staring wide eyed at the bewildered graduate beside you.
“How old are you two again?”
“Old enough to know that this,” Minho motioned with his free hand between yourself and Min-ho while his finger remained attached to his nose, “means that we don’t have to do shit.”
A victorious grin split your cheeks. “So get to work, you slow fucker.”
With a smug sense of pleasure, you watched your grumbling friend stand to his feet and make his way to clean up his disaster. Beside you, Minho gave a good-natured chuckle as he started to pick up some of the wrappers that had been carelessly thrown around the room. You bend over to help him out when you feel your phone vibrate in your pocket.
Must be Jihyun, you thought as you pull out your phone. Your obnoxious friend had been upset all week about not being able to make the traditional game day drinking game today. You wouldn’t put it past her to bitch about it some more over texts. To your surprise though, it was not Jihyun who had messaged you.
Mickey: Come over [2:47p.m.]
Mickey: Plz? [2:47p.m.]
Mickey: I’m sick of studying [2:48p.m.]
Mickey: I have pizza? [2:49p.m.]
The corners of your mouth tugged upwards as your eyes scanned your screen. Within seconds, your fingers were flying across your keyboard.
You: Pineapple? [2:50p.m.]
Mickey: Duh. [2:51p.m.]
Mickey: U in? [2:51p.m.]
Your index finger tapped against the side of your phone as you glanced up at your surroundings. If you were being honest, the game thus far had left your head a little more tipsy than you would like to admit. It would probably be a bad idea to go anywhere at this point. Plus, you and Namjoon were sure to win this time. You couldn’t call it quits now. And anyways, the other boy really had some studying to get done if he hoped to pass his class.
You: Save me some, I’ll stop by tomorrow [2:55p.m.]
With your mind made up, you set your phone on the table to get back to cleaning up. Tomorrow you’d have to put up with his complaints but it was for his own good. To your surprise, your phone vibrated not long after.
Mickey: Fine, but only a slice of the cheese one [2:58p.m.]
Mickey: Late comers don’t deserve pineapple [2:59p.m.]
A head suddenly appeared over your shoulder. “What are you smiling at?” The sound of his voice startled you enough to look up from your phone. Quickly, you pressed the power button to shut down your screen, but it was too late; a smirk was already forming on the older man’s lips. “Mickey? Is that the guy Minmin was telling me about?”
Your shoulder lifted in a careless shrug as you pocketed your phone. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Right.” The tone of his voice portrayed his true thoughts on the matter. “Is he who you’ve been sneaking out at night to go see the past few weeks?”
“I’m a grown ass women and this is my damn apartment, I do not have to sneak out of it.” You huff indignantly; making sure your voice was low enough so that it couldn’t be heard from the kitchen. “And anyways, why is your girlfriend gossiping about me?”
“She’s excited.” He stated simply. “She says it’s about time you got out of your dry spell.”
A red tinge settled on the apples of your cheeks. “I am not going through a dry spell!” You hissed desperately under your breath.
Minho raised his trash filled hands in surrender. “Hey, I don’t judge.”
“There’s nothing to judge!”
“What are we judging?” Namjoon questioned, walking back into the room. Traces of the chip disaster were evident on his socked feet. You jumped at the opportunity given to you.
“The fact that you’re trailing crumbs all over the floor with your dirty socks.” You jabbed a finger in the offending party’s direction, affectively drawing everyone’s attention towards them. “Minjin will throw a bitch fit if she comes back to see that.”
“At least I’ve been cleaning, what have you two been doing?” Even though his voice was laced with indignation, he toed at his socks to rid them of any evidence.
“Cleaning up after your ass, like usual.” You quickly interjected when you spotted Minho opening his mouth to reply. “You two boys are slobs, honestly.”
There it was, the perfect thing to distract both of your possible attackers. Both of their attentions were instantly focused on you in different stages of offense. Minho was the first to object.
“Did she just speak to me informally?”
“You and Minjin are the one’s who destroy the apartment!” Namjoon soon followed with.
“Excuse me?” At that instance, the sound of a door slamming shut echoed through the room. Standing in the doorway was Minjin, her arms being loaded with various bags of groceries. It was clear she was implementing her one trip only policy by how her arms were being weighed down with more bags than she could comfortably carry, but she seemed to have forgotten all about them as she set a deadly glare on your roommate. “You want to pass that by me again Namjoon, you clumsy shit?”
As expected, the apartment was soon filled with various forms of blame aversion and cases made in defense. It did not take long for your nightly where about and mysterious messenger to easily fall from everyone’s memory.
“Order up!”
The sharp ringing of the bell attempted to cut through the rambunctious chatter of the rush hour crowd. Despite its obnoxious pitch and quick, incessant rhythm, none of the buzzing customers seemed to take much notice to it; instead, they continued their conversations eagerly, paying no attention to the steaming barista behind the counter. The poor boy could not be older than sixteen, but the irritation that was coming off of him in waves said that if he was kept waiting much longer, he would lose it. Right when you were certain that his grip on the caffeinated drink would certainly crush the cup in his grasps, a customer lazily strolled up to the counter to claim the beverage from its tragic fate. With more force than was needed, the teenager shoved the drink into the college student’s hand, walking away with no more than a glare in the customer’s direction.
Part of you felt bad for the poor barista as you watched him prepare the next order over the view of your coffee cup. If you were being honest, the customers were grating on your own nerves with their excessive volume. There was absolutely no need to be talking that enthusiastically in such small quarters as the café. However, you found that the levels of your annoyance were steadily lowering with each sip of your drink that you took. So instead of dwelling on the repercussions of flinging the muffin you bought Jihyun at a neighboring group of girls’ (who obviously weren’t taught about inside voices), you took a deep breath and continued to watch the aggravated barista lose his temper over the espresso maker.
The only thing that brought your attention away from the oncoming tantrum was the vibration of your phone. The suddenness of it had you jumping a bit in your seat, causing a bit of coffee to dribble down your chin. With a quick swipe of the back of your hand, you pulled out the offending party with your free hand to check the screen.
Mickey: remind me again [7:12p.m.]
Mickey: why am I here? [7:12p.m.]
Your eyes rolled back into your skull as you read over the messages. Leave it to him to be so dramatic over something so routine.
You: I ask myself that question about you everyday, honestly [7:14p.m.]
You: I mean, do we really need another shameless flirt on this earth? [7:14p.m.]
You: seems a bit last season, don’t you think? [7:15p.m.]
You typed out your message single handedly, using your other one to bring your warm coffee to your lips. You didn’t have to wait long for a reply.
Mickey: We all know what my purpose on this earth is, sweetcheeks {7:18p.m.]
Mickey: I am a gift to women everywhere. [7:19p.m.]
An involuntary snort came of you. You could just feel the smugness rolling off of him through the phone. He needed to be knocked down a few pegs. Squaring your shoulders a bit, you set your cup down on the table so that you could turn your complete attention to your phone.
You: More like punishment. [7:22 p.m.]
Mickey: You seem tense, baby girl [7:24 p.m.]
Mickey: Bet I could make you feel better with just one touch ;) [7:25 p.m.]
Heat rose to the apple of your cheeks despite yourself. You convinced yourself it was from the stuffiness of the room, not from your own imagination of course.
You: Case and point [7:29 p.m.]
You: You’re shameless [7:30 p.m.]
Mickey: It’s a gift really [7:36 p.m.]
“What are you smiling at?” Your co-worker sat across from you suddenly, eyeing you almost distastefully. “You look like you’re about to giggle and puke rainbows or something. It’s gross.”
It was only then that you noticed the way your lips split into an involuntary smile. You quickly wiped it from your face, replacing it with a scowl. “Shut up. You’re late.”
She sighed bristly at that, taking the extra cup of coffee and muffin from you. “Yeah, well, not all of us were able to get off early, Miss Over Achiever. God, I almost miss when you were in your slum so that we were failures together. Now you’re back to being ahead of schedule and responsible and shit.”
You couldn’t help the small tug of your lips. “Yeah well, you owe this over achiever ten bucks. The coffee and muffin aren’t free.”
In that moment, you felt your phone vibrate in your hand again.
Mickey: Come baaaack [7:47p.m.]
Mickey: I’m about to die from boredom in this class [7:47 p.m.]
You: Suck it up, frat boy [7:49 p.m.]
You: It’s called getting an education [7:50 p.m.]
“Whatever,” she grumbled around her muffin. “Anyways, who are you texting? Is it Jimin again?”
“Becoming possessive already?” you teased, smirking around your cup of coffee. “How un-Jihyun like.”
The woman across from you merely stuffs another large chunk of muffin into her mouth. “You two text constantly. And plot. I know he didn’t come up with the idea to send me those singing telegrams on his own, asshole.”
“That was actually his idea. The boy is committed.”
A rather un-ladylike like snort escaped her. “Jimin doesn’t have a committed bone in his body.”
From the corner of your eye you saw your phone light up with a notification. “What about that proposition he made you?”
Mickey: It’s called a snooze fest [8:04 p.m.]
Mickey: Anyways, what kind of lame activity are you up to? [8:05 p.m.]
Mickey: Wait, let me guess [8:06 p.m.]
Mickey: Watching descendants of the sun [8:07 p.m.]
Mickey: Again. [8:07]
“Fine, the only commitment he has is to his dick.” The harshness of her words has you pulling your gaze from your screen. “I mean, when was the last time an arrangement like that ever worked out, anyways? It’s stupid.”
“I don’t know, I don’t think so.” You gave a shrug at the doubtful look she shot you. “I mean, he’s attractive. From what you said he knows what he’s doing. What could it hurt?”
“Please.” The tone of her voice was if she was explaining the obvious. “Men are fragile little things, Y/N. They have too many grown up feelings for their small testosterone brains to take. Things never stay as simple as they say they will.”
The corner of your lips twitched as you averted your attention back to your screen. “I’m pretty sure that’s not how that stereotype is applied.”
You: you’re offensive tone is ruining the taste of my muffin [8:12 p.m.]
“That’s because men tried to cover up for their neediness by putting it on us. It’s a big cover up, I tell you.” If it weren’t for the fact that you weren’t entirely convinced she wasn’t being serious, you would find her conspiracy theories somewhat comical. It was Jihyun, after all.
“I’m sure it is.” Setting your phone aside for the last time, you turn your full attention back to your coworker. “Anyways, I need a favor.”
Jihyun tilted her head to the side as she studied you. “Waive the ten bucks for this stuff and you got it.”
“What?” You blinked a couple of times. “Fuck that bitch, pay up.”
“Do you want my help or not?”
“You don’t even know what it is!” Your voice started to rise as you spoke, but you paid it no mind. If everyone else can be noisy in this shack so could you.
She gave a short sigh. “Fine, what is it?”
“I need to borrow your couch this coming Saturday.” Sensing the argument rising in her, you added more hastily, “Minho is pulling some grand romantic gesture for their anniversary and is kicking me and Namjoon out.”
“Couples. I swear, they’re so entitled.” The last bit of muffin she was holding was quickly flung onto her napkin in disgust. “I would revolt. You pay rent, you have rights.”
“Jihyun.” The tone of your voice was fighting between amusement and exasperation. “Your bitch is showing.”
You watched as your friend proceeded to dump enough sugar to create a small tower into her drink, unbothered by your words. “Good. Let the bitch flag fly, she needed some air after being suffocated under all that sugarcoated pleasantry bullshits.”
“Just play nice, Minho is being a gentleman. It’s sweet and romantic.”
“Sweet my ass,” the woman across from you grumbles, reaching to a neighboring table beside you to grab the sugar packets as she had used up all of your own. The couple sitting there shot her judgmental glares, but if she noticed it she made no sign of it. “Anyways, you can’t spend the night. My brothers coming to town and is occupying the couch this weekend.”
An obnoxious groan was born in your throat, drawing a few startled glances your way. “Where the fuck am I supposed to go now?”
“I’m telling you, you have rights.” Her eyes glanced up at you from her coffee cup. The White Mountain had nearly doubled in size, but she showed no sign of stopping. “Fuck the system, fight the couples.”
“I prefer fuck the couples, fight the system,” a deeper voice interjected. The screeching of chair legs against the laminate floor soon followed as your uninvited guest made himself at home at the table, his cheeky smile being full of insinuations. “It opens a lot more interesting doors that way.”
Your coworker’s faced screwed up in disgust. “Is everyone in your fraternity as perverse as you and the duo?”
“No… but they’re not nearly as much fun either.” Jungkook replied with his signature smirk before turning to face you. “And you, do you not know how to answer your phone?”
“I didn’t know you texted.” As you spoke, you reached back over for your phone, thumbing over the main key to bring the phone to life. Your eyes widened a bit when you spotted how many missed texts you had. Quickly, you tried to shut off your screen again but it was too late.
“Mickey?” Jungkook reached out and plucked your phone out of your hands indignantly. “Who the fuck is Mickey? And why is your phone password protected?”
“It’s Jimin.” Jihyun piped up, stirring the white grains into her coffee. “I don’t know why she calls him Mickey though.”
“Is that a codename? Jimin has a codename and I don’t?” The look of betrayal that washed over Jungkook’s face was more than unjustified in your opinion.
“It is none of your business who it is.” Huffing, you reached out and snatched your phone out of the younger boy’s grasps. “And my phone is password protected because of nosy people like you trying to get on and snoop.”
“Whatever.” With a small shrug, he tore off a piece of your muffin. He eyed the crowded café as he pushed the moist pastry past his lips. His eyes zeroed in on the barista behind the counter. “It’s busy at this time. Poor sap.”
“You could always offer to help him,” you offer, unbothered by the theft as you take a sip of your drink. “You know, be a good coworker and all that stuff.”
“Fuck that shit.” Jihyun eyes the barista. Despite her harsh words, there were traces of sympathy in her voice. “Jungkook’s off. Let the kid sweat.”
The younger man leaned back in his chair with a broad grin. “Couldn’t have put it better myself.”
Shaking your head, you cracked a smile at them around the rim of your cup. “You two are despicable.”
“Thank you.” They both spoke in unison, drawing a chuckle from you.
“Anyways, I just stopped by for some muffin.” He leaned over to grab another rather sizable piece of your muffin as he got to his feet. When he spoke, it was around a mouthful of bread. “I have another class I need to get to.”
“You better hurry,” you comment, glancing at the time on your phone. “You have three minutes before your class starts.”
“Shit.” With quick drink from your cup, he dashed out of the café, calling back a greeting of some kind as he clumsily ran into a group of unsuspecting customers on his way out. The absurdness of it drew a chuckle from your lips as you brought your cup up for another drink.
“You know…” Jihyun began, watching after his retreating form through glass window. “He’s not at all what I expected.”
A more natural smile tugged at your lips. “Believe me, I know.”
Once again you heard more than felt your phone buzz against the wooden table. Glancing down at it, you noticed you had quite a bit of missed messages. Scanning over them, you zeroed in on the newest one.
Mickey: Stop by my place later? [8:29p.m.]
Under the watchful eye of your friend, you didn’t care let your lips stretch anymore than they were already. However, you could not help the burst of joy you felt as you quickly typed out your response.
You: Always do. [8:30p.m.]
A/N: I am so so sorry that this took so long! Uni has been crazy. Anyways, I apologize if I completely butchered the sports terminologies in the beginning of the chapter. I know close to nothing about sports and I don’t think the hours of research I tried to do on football really fixed that... Anyways, I hope you enjoyed! Let me know what you though =)

stars around my scars; kth. | 02.
pairing: taehyung x fem!reader genre: college au, goodgirl x badboy (sort of), angst, fluff warnings: lowercase writing, swearing, drinking, infidelity (not between you and tae), taehyung calls you 'angel', can be confusing at times (i'm a beginner and not a native english speaker), jungkook cameo 🤭 summary: people are not always what they seem. you learned that the hard way, when you caught your boyfriend cheating, the night that was supposed to be one of the best ones you ever experienced. but on the same night you also learned that in everything bad, there’s always a little bit of good. wc: 2.2k series masterlist
november started with a rainy saturday. the light tapping of raindrops woke you up from the comfort of your dreams into the harsh reality. you got out of bed, rubbing your eyes, dragging yourself towards the kitchen. on your way there you noticed that soojin’s bedroom door is slightly open, offering a view of her sleeping like a baby.
in the kitchen, you made yourself a cup of coffee to start the day. you weren’t a fan of the bitter taste, so your caffeinated drinks mostly looked like a child’s, with all sorts of different flavors - and of course, whipped cream - but today you decided on a simple black. you felt bitter, so you needed bitter. though you still added two sugar cubes in it. with the steamy mug in your hands, you sat down on the couch, and as you did, you noticed your coat next to you, the one that you wore last night. soojin must’ve brought it back. you reached inside the pocket to take your phone out. 15 missed calls and 20 unread messages. taking small sips of your coffee, you skimmed through all of them. most of them were from soojin, except for two calls, those were from your boyfriend. sorry, ex-boyfriend. when his name popped up on the screen, you felt your stomach shrink and a lump forming in your throat as last night played in your head over and over again. you threw your phone on the coffee table and sat back on the couch, bringing your knees up to your chest. it felt like a nightmare, expect that it was all real. nightmares you could forget and escape by waking up, but there’s no waking up from reality.
your spiraling was disturbed by the sound of your roommates lazy footsteps. she came out of her room, headed straight for the kitchen and downed like a full bottle of water, in one go. you could hear her muffled swearing as she got another one out of the fridge.
“are you okay?” you asked quietly as you walked to the kitchen , trying not to scare her, but it didn’t work. you startled her so much she almost threw the bottle at you.
“for fuck’s sake, y/n! where the hell where you?”
“me? i was just in the livin-” you tried to answer but she cut you off.
“last night! where were you last night?! jungwon was so worried about you, and so were we.”
you scoffed. “i imagine how worried he must’ve been.”
“what do you mean? we called you like a dozen times but you couldn’t even pick your damn phone up!”
“i left it in the house. i got home earlier.” you said, turning around, hoping soojin won’t ask any more questions. but she did.
“what do you mean, you got home early? did something happen that i don’t know about?”
you stopped in the middle of the room, squeezing your fists, hoping that you don’t break down crying.
“did something happen?! yes soojin, it fucking did. jungwon cheated on me.”
your roommate seemed surprised, but not as much as you would’ve expected her to be.
“oh no, he was right. he said you would misunderstand.”
“there was nothing to misunderstand, soojin i know what i saw!” you were confused and frustrated, on the verge of breaking.
“look, i think you should talk to him, he will explain everything—”
“you don’t believe me?” your voice was shaky.
“i-.. i-i don’t know, okay?!” she replied, running her hand through her hair, frustrated.
“get out..”
“what?”
“get the hell out of my house!” you snapped at her, slapping the kitchen counter which made her jumpy, once again.
“but i have nowhere to go…”
“i don’t fucking care, grab your things and leave.”
you turned around and went straight inside your room, trying to hold your tears in at least until you close the door. losing jungwon was one thing, but losing your best friend was way worse. realizing that she would rather believe his made up story, instead of you, when you knew you are right, felt more painful than a knife through the heart. you dropped to your knees before you could reach the bed. it was too much, too heavy. you felt betrayed, deceived and painfully lonely. as you sat there with your face buried in your hands, you heard soojin slam the front door as she left.
you spent the rest of the weekend inside, on your own. you tried distracting yourself with a handful of activities, but something always reminded you of what happened so you ended up crying again, and again, and again. from studying to scrubbing the bathroom clean, nothing could help ease your mind, up until sunday evening when you decided that this cannot continue anymore. whatever happened, happened, you can’t undo it and crying over it won’t help fix it. it was time to move on, because if you don’t, that means he wins. and you hated the idea of losing.
with the harsh sound of your monday morning alarm, came the harsh realization that moving on might not be as easy as you first imagined. staying in bed and skipping the whole day has never been so tempting before, but you didn’t give in. you still needed your attendances and good grades to keep the scholarship so skipping because of a break up was not an option. not for you. you were always a fighter and that wasn’t gonna change anytime soon.
as you arrived on campus, you immediately noticed your - now ex - friend group standing at your usual spot. taking a deep breath you fastened your steps, walking beside them like they don’t even exist. first bullet, dodged, you thought as you entered the building. going straight for your locker, you took all the necessary books, exchanging them with the ones you brought in your bag. you slammed the locker door shut and headed to class.
mondays weren’t that busy for you, so by lunch you were done with all of your classes. it felt like your ex-friends were avoiding you just as much as you were avoiding them, because you haven’t seen any of them since the morning. little did you know, that this will soon change.
you decided to have lunch at the cafeteria today, so you took a tray of today’s menu and sat down to an empty table, in the back corner of the room. it was an unwritten rule at your college, that the people who sit that far back, do not wish to be bothered, so you were hoping that no one will disturb you. while you finished your food, you had time to look around, considering you had pretty good view of the whole room from the back. you saw two freshman girls trying to earn two seats at the jock’s table, the communications majors judging everyone that entered, art majors covered in paint and/or clay residue, and last but not least, the popular table. that’s where you would be sitting right now, with your friends. you get a little lost in your thoughts and stare at them a moment longer than you originally planned, which they also notice. you see soojin turning towards jungwon, it looks like she’s very persistent about something. you lower your gaze, looking at the leftovers on your plate, praying that their conversation has nothing to do with you. when you look up again, you find jungwon standing in front of you.
“we need to talk.”
you shrug your shoulders. “there’s nothing to talk about. you cheated, we’re over.”
you sound determined, but that’s probably because you rehearsed this exact sentence over and over again during the weekend. you get up, with the intention to end this conversation and leave, but jungwon grabs your arm, holding you back.
“you’re being unreasonable, please just hear me out!”
“i don’t care what lies you fed to the rest, but you can’t deceive me, not anymore. it’s over, now please do me a favor and leave me alone.” you declare, freeing your hand from his grip.
your ex-boyfriend is trying hard to cover his defeat with a nervous chuckle. jungwon hated when you had the last word, he always had to be the one to end the conversation. most of the time you let him, but those days are over, you made that very clear to him today. every single soul in the cafeteria is staring at you as you walk away, and that’s when you know, that the rumors already started. jungwon earned the “cool freshman” title for getting an older girl, while you’re probably painted as the bad girlfriend who couldn’t fulfill a man’s needs. you knew the truth and random students’ opinion didn’t really matter but it still hurt a little, half of campus looking at you like you poisoned their pet.
amidst the weekend you got rid of the stuff that reminded you of your past relationship: you threw out all the gifts and pictures, along with jungwon’s clothes that were left at your place and kicked out your treacherous roommate. the only thing left was the angel costume you rented specifically for the halloween frat party. you called the rental shop and they said you can bring it back on monday, so after coming home from college, you checked if you had all the pieces of it, and headed to the shop.
the woman at the counter was expecting you so you were basically in and out in a few seconds. as you closed the door, you heard your phone ring. it was your mom. you were ignoring her calls and gave your usual updates through texts, but you couldn’t avoid her for long. after all, you did not get your determination from your dad.
“hi mom!” you picked up, the fake enthusiasm in your voice couldn’t have fooled a deaf person.
“sweetheart, would you mind explaining what happened between you and jungwon?” don’t let the nickname fool you, she was furious. her and jungwon’s mom were best friends since high school, so you figured that she told her everything. well, jungwon’s story, to be precise.
“i caught him with another girl. we broke up.”
“are you sure? his mom says he’s very heartbroken because you are not willing to talk to him.” you felt like the whole universe swore against you. first, your best friend, and now your own mother is doubting you.
“really, mom? you of all people should understand.” you said, and without waiting for her answer, you hung up. she was a victim of infidelity herself, it ended her marriage with your dad yet she still chose to believe someone else.
you fastened your pace and walked with your head down, so you don’t have to deal with anyone else today. your plan was compromised when you bumped into someone on the side walk. if it was anyone else, you probably would’ve told them to watch where they’re going, staring them down with a frown, but as you raised your gaze, you saw it’s taehyung you literally walked into.
“hi, angel.”
“hi.” you said, taking a small step back to create some distance between the two of you. “what’s up?”
“got some new stuff” he raised a plastic bag, filled with all types of brushes and paint. “now i’m waiting for my roommate. you?”
“ooh, nice. i just dropped of my costume at the rental shop. officially got rid of everything that would remind me of my ex.” you said, with a faint smile on your face.
“glad to hear that.” he smiled back at you, making your sharp features soften, unintentionally. you’ve never seen a person with a smile as contagious as his. contagious and beautiful.
the two of you would’ve probably stood there for a while just staring at each other if it wasn’t for a guy - taehyung’s roommate, supposedly - snapping you out of it.
“sorry, hyung i couldn’t find the one you said but they had thi— oh hi, stranger.” he said, looking towards you with his big, brown eyes. the guy had a cute, round-ish face and soft features, which he tried to sharpen with various piercings.
“y/n, this is jungkook, my roommate and best friend. jungkook, this is y/n, she’s…” taehyung hesitated, as he tried to introduce you to his best friend.
“i’m taehyung’s friend, nice to meet you.” you held out your hand, turning towards jungkook.
“nice to meet you too.” he shook your hand, smirking, and then turned to his friend. “i didn’t know you had friends.”
you bit your lip in order to hold in your chuckle as taehyung rolled his eyes at jungkook.
“we’re gonna grab some drinks, wanna come?” jungkook offered, flashing his big, curious eyes again. he looked like a kid, you found it really cute.
“it’s a lovely offer, but i gotta go home.”
“please, don’t say ‘to study’.” jungkook whined.
“but she will, right?” taehyung said, in a mocking manner.
“i’m sorry. maybe next time?” you raised your eyebrows inquiringly.
“you’re lucky, you’re cute.” jungkook replied.
“alright, see you next time, then. have fun boys!” you waved both of them goodbye with a huge grin on your face. so huge, it wouldn’t disappear until you reached your apartment.
you didn’t lie about studying, but when you saw the pile of spreadsheets and the code of law sitting on your desk, you felt the will to live slowly evaporate from your body.
“what a fun night.” you thought as you sat down to your desk, cup of coffee in your hand, so you don’t accidentally fall asleep amidst all this entertainment.
a/n. helloo, i’m back <3 ik it’s not the best chapter ever made but i hope it will satisfy everyone for now hehe. anywaysss look forward to the next one, it will be much much better 👀. likes, reblogs & comments are all appreciated. take care ❤️🩹
