✨Non-bender Lin✨
inspired by this ask to @risingsoleil 😊 The idea is so interesting plus I got to incorporate some of my faves in it so yeah~
So this is my take on non-bender Lin :3
Korra gets her bending back because she’s the Avatar, but she can’t restore anyone else’s bending. So, Lin stays a nonbender.
In Book 2, Lin leaves the police force and goes to the South Pole to recover from PTSD, she has nightmares of Amon taking her bending, and hallucinations. Katara takes care of her during this time.
Lin also gets closer to Tenzin's kids during this period.
Jinora and Ikki feel bad for their Aunt Lin losing her bending while saving them, and they start hanging out with her more often.
They visit her during therapy sessions, bringing flowers and spending time with her their Gran Gran.
Meelo, being Meelo, calls her “Lady Hero” every chance he gets.
Meanwhile, Pema, already dealing with postpartum depression, starts worrying that Lin isn’t just getting closer to Tenzin but also to her family. She’s feeling insecure and suspects Lin is trying to take her place.
Tenzin and the kids reassure Pema that this isn’t the case. But still, Pema occasionally accuses Tenzin of seeing Lin, but the kids would back him up, saying, “No, Mom, we were with Aunt Lin, and Dad was at work.”
In Book 3, Lin is back on her feet and joins Team Avatar on their search for the New Airbenders. Asami, being the genius she is, comes up with a new tool for Lin:
Asami designs a maneuver gear (like Attack on Titan's ODM Gear) that mimics how metalbenders use cables for mobility. It allows Lin to navigate the battlefield as before, despite no longer having her bending.
Since Lin is still, and always will be an incredible fighter, She creates retractable blades (like in Assassin’s Creed) that Lin can use as a weapon since she refuses to use the electric gloves
As time passes, Pema starts to feel better, but her suspicions about Lin never completely fade. Now that Lin is playing a major role in saving the Air Nation and working closely with Tenzin, the lingering doubts continue to plague her. Eventually, Pema reaches her breaking point. Despite Tenzin’s constant reassurance and honesty, she realizes she can’t keep living with these doubts or stay in a marriage without fully trusting him. With a heavy heart, Pema decides to divorce him.
During their mission, Lin and Tenzin are working together again, but this time, Tenzin is 10,000x more protective of Lin. Why? Because she can’t bend anymore, and he’s constantly worried about her safety. However, he tries to hide it, knowing how upset Lin would be if she noticed. She doesn’t want pity or anyone treating her differently.
When the Red Lotus jumped on him, Tenzin came close to death, and in that moment, his life flashed before his eyes. He realized how much Lin had always been there for him, through everything (despite their past). When he was miraculously saved, the first person he saw was Lin approaching him. Overwhelmed with relief, he couldn’t help but reach out, trying to hold onto her, grateful that she was safe and sound.
By Book 4, Lin is looking even more badass with her upgraded gear. Asami added new features like bombs and improved blades, making Lin even more formidable.
As for Tenzin and Lin’s relationship, it takes time for Lin to accept his feelings. She initially thinks he’s acting out of pity, guilt, or even because she's a second choice after Pema divorced him. But Tenzin works hard to prove that’s not the case. He truly loves her and genuinely wants her back, and he’s determined to show her that his feelings are real. "Just like old times" :3
I’m also on Ko-fi~ Feel free to buy me a coffee if you’d like to support my work! Thank you~ Roseey💖

Chapter 421
I said it before and I'll say it again, most of you are running on fumes and the rest of you are severely injured. Not to mention being children fighting in a war. I don't think you're gonna be all that helpful here
Badass group shot though
Way to go Cellophane. Way to stay perfectly calm
Double Flashfire Fist(although each one is probably way weaker individually than they normally would be.)
Midoriya, you're half dead and your arms are still growing back! OfA is just another nail in the coffin at this point
I don't blame Aizawa for being concerned. This whole time people have been say how One for All is the only hope against All for One, but Midoriya never even got past 50% without hurting himself and now he's just using leftovers at the absolute final battle without any of the extra quirks and the utility they offered
Very quick bandages to literally hold him together.
Of course he happens to know the exact brand and series of fucking All Might merch
I feel so bad for Gran Torino right now. Like, he lost Nana, almost lost Yagi, almost lost Yagi again in Kamino, almost lost a quirkless Yagi for the third time literally earlier today, and now Midoriya's charging headfirst into battle against the same enemy while he's in a hospital bed unable to do anything
I hope Eri's ok too

Bully SatoSugu x Bully lectora(TRADUCCION)
Género: Headcanons
Lector: femenino

On Katara and feminism in NATLA
I grew up with ATLA. I was exactly Katara’s age when ATLA started to air in my country, and this cartoon has taught me more about life than I’d like to admit. Among them, was feminism.
I was absolutely obsessed with Katara as a kid: back then strong female characters - who were BOTH girlish and strong! – were still quite rare in mainstream media. I absolutely loved to see this girl who was raised in a patriarchal society similar to mine, who was both girly and an absolute badass even in days she didn’t know how to properly waterbend.
Back in those days, they were airing the episodes in order and I was super excited to see her FINALLY learn how to properly waterbend once they reach the North Pole. So when Paku refused to teach her for BEING A GIRL, as a preteen girl myself, I was ENRAGED.
Then Katara did something crazy. She freaking defied a waterbending master, knowing that she had no chance of winning whatsoever. And guys, I swear that fight became a core memory for me. On our crusty Windows XP’s desktop, there was a gif downloaded over several minutes of that exact fight. And I would watch it. On loop. When Katara defied Paku, I felt empowered, and that feeling never left.
Now that I am done with my lame ass backstory, back to NATLA.
You can imagine how EXCITED I was to finally see that fight in 4K. At that point, I was already pissed that they removed Sokka’s sexist flaws and subverted his dynamics with him, rather than Katara being “the parent” of the group (which was outrageous, if you ask me. One of the main character traits of Katara was her being a mother figure at an early age, which explained why she always felt like she HAD to be the responsible one, and why she had so much repressed rage).
But Katara’s struggle with the Northern Tribe over her right to learn how to use waterbending for fighting? That, in my opinion, was epic! Why?
Katara’s fight with Paku was a premediated act
In the original series, Paku says that girls can’t learn how to waterbend, and in a moment of rage, Katara whips him in the neck. I agree that it was a totally badass move, and it made especially sense given her drive to learn waterbending for fighting.
But I also really liked how NATLA approached that: in NATLA, when Katara learns that she cannot waterbend to fight, she doesn’t immediately attack Paku. No, she takes the time to think about it, talk about it with Aang, with Sokka. Then, she decides to defy Paku.
In a way, her action is a protest: she isn’t angry at Paku personally, she is angry at the sexist rules he perpetuates. In a way, this calculated way of deciding to fight shows a certain emotional maturity and dedication to the cause of feminism.
I really liked it.
The resolution of the fight
One thing that really disturbed me in the cartoon was how that fight scene was resolved. My preteen brain couldn’t make sense of why Paku suddenly decided to teach Katara how to fight after realising that her grandma was his ex-fiancé. Like, where is the connection??
My adult brain understands that Gran Gran had fled the Northern Water Tribe because of their sexist rules and hence Paku understood that him abiding to those sexist rules was wrong. But still, it feels so odd. Tell me which 60-70 year old boomer would suddenly change their mind about basically 90% of their world view because their ex happened to have fled from them because that world view? You tell me that Paku didn’t have enough time to rationalise in his wicked brain why Gran Gran left with a more nefarious motivation, or hell, just because she didn’t like him enough to get married?
Whereas in NATLA, we see that Paku’s approval doesn’t come all so easy: he does acknowledge Katara’s waterbending talents (a feat that also happens in the cartoon), but he still refuses to teach her. Because it isn’t about talent. It is about principle. And he is a dinosaur with sexist principles.
On the other hand, who is more open-minded to new ideas and social change? Who circles Katara following her defeat and admire her for her fight with Paku? It’s the youth! Social change is usually driven by the youth, and here we see that while the old rulers of the Northern Water Tribe are still sexist af, the young people are the ones who are ready to embrace a more equalitarian society.
Women in war
So then, when does Paku change his mind on letting women fight? During the attack on the Northern Water Tribe. They are outnumbered and they need more benders: lo and behold, Katara has the brilliant idea of bringing in the women. Now, I don’t say that that was actually a brilliant idea: strategically speaking, it is kinda stupid sending your HEALERS to the FRONTLINES to die while they could be much more useful saving the wounded. Nevertheless, I like the inclusion of the women into the battle in a symbolic level: in history, we see that most women’s rights were obtained during and in the aftermath of big conflicts. When men are fighting and there is a shortage of manpower, you employ women to work at the factories, or in the direst cases, you let women fight. This was a cool nod to that phenomenon happening. Also, if literally every man was already wounded or perished, it kinda makes sense that women take up the arms, so the “healers fighting isn’t strategically sound” argument doesn’t hold perfectly either.
Women of patriarchy
Lastly, one thing I really liked about NATLA is how not only Paku, but also the female healing master was sternly against women learning how to fight with waterbending. The healing master in the cartoon was softer, gentler, whereas here, she was even more vocal than Paku in grilling Katara for wanting to fight. This is such a great display of internalised sexism, but also how women in power in patriarchy may be vehement defenders of the status quo because it helps them to keep whatever power they have.
Oh, and in a final note, Katara’s reply to Zuko’s “you have found a waterbending master!” was absolutely horrendous. I may have liked how most of that arc was treated, but GOD, somebody give that girl a proper master to learn how to waterbend, because I don’t believe one second that a child with only ONE waterbending scroll can become a MASTER with self-study. The way Katara was managing to become a waterbending master in the span of weeks in the original series was already weird (and for those who weren’t fans before, it did attract quite some criticism in the fandom spheres back when it aired), but NATLA just took it and made it worse.
Nonetheless, I think that NATLA tried their best. And I appreciate that they tried to give ATLA a new twist, even though it didn’t land perfectly.
Everyone seems to be focusing on the bad of the show, so I felt compelled to share my two cents.

Hi all! Bonus links updated! Which means I am back to ramble about it! :D
Hello hello!! :D
Hope you are all having a wonderful day (And if not maybe some rambling can make it better!) Bonus links is back with Homesick part 5.
I LOVE THIS COMIC
Nuff said :D
Im kidding, but im also not kidding. This comic is wonderful and always so well done! I love it sm, also mandatory Loft my beloved, because he is the bestest boy in the worlds.
For the important stuff! All art belongs to @bonus-links and the artist @ezdotjpg. Please go and look at their other stuff too! And I once again thank you for letting me do these.
You can find a link to the comic here!!! Please go and give the original post some love!
Now, Grab a drink, and some popcorn cause I am about to take you on a journey. Mainly a rambling journey, but a journey nonetheless!
Let's do this!
Loft.... Loft are you remembering the same trip I am cause you looked horrified. Im sure he kinda had fun eventually but I remember the shenanigans.
Wake is just happy to be here.
And poor wolf. He Frow up! (This made me cackle so much thank you)
Wake really do be :3 Gives me cat vibes.
I love how expressive he is. He's so proud of himself.
Oh my god, these two deserve the literal world I love them so damn much okay.
(Is this analysis just gonna be me hyping about all of these guys for 30 minutes. Probably, but that's what you signed up for so.... :D )
Okay okay okay
So, Aryll has a joy pendant and this gives me joy, did wake give to her from his adventure? That makes me so happy.
And Tetra! Holy hell she looks so cool! Badass bitch over here and I am here for it.
Also, just to check, Thats Linebecks jacket, right? The one he wore in phantom hourglass. I dont remember seeing him give it to Tetra at any point in time. So, how is it she's come across it?
I assume it's just he gave it to her at one point and she wears it as a sign of respect?
Ohno.... OH NO
Tetra looks like she is about to kill Ganondorf all over again, Also also, the background behind Tetra. Protective mode activated.
This one, I am loving how it looks like water. I was literally screaming, though, you get that feeling you recognise something? It's something Something about the water.
I'll be back...
(Investigates)
OHHHHHHHHHH
ITS FROM THE GANON PICTURE, ITS FROM THE GANON PICTURE. FROM THE UPDATE THEY MET WAKE.
THIS ONE
(From Homesick pt3 - link here!)
Also the shadows? The way the light comes up from below her rather than above her at this point. The final fight had this in the final stages. A nice detail.
This is the face of fear
Help him
Man is about to get killed, tetra is to be feared and I love her.
Also
I THOUGHT THE EYEPATCH WAS A FASHION STATEMENT WHAT HAPPENED. WAKE ARE YOU OKAY?
She has a point. Stabbing Ganondorf in the head is what caused him to turn to stone, so for all she knows Ganondorf could be walking around right now causing havoc.
And how, casual Wake is about it is probably not helping.
I love how protective of Gran Gran Tetra is, (as she should be Gran Gran is wonderful) and she has a point Wake like the hell why are you bringing in shenanigans on your poor Gran Gran's birthday.
HE
LOFT BELOVED
TRULY THE MASTER OF STANDING IN ALL TIMELINES I LOVE HIM A HEALTHY AMOUNT
okay im done
Yeah, Wake go and see your Gran Gran. Can't believe you are late so rude to Gran Gran.
Also him tucking the windwaker in the back of his belt, a nice touch!
Also, I know it's not meant to be a lil face, but I can't unsee the lil face on Tetras cheek. It's so angry and sad and I love it.
Tetra's inner demon is just as mad as she is
Oh my god I love Gran Gran so much
She is actually beloved because she's so sweet! And Wake loves his gran so much I just ahhhhhh
I love them
His little squishy face oh bless him.
Linebeck, Linebeck please, he's lowkey their uncle. Look at how disappointed Wake and Aryll look.
Gran Gran you look wonderful.
Oh they all got towels thats so sweet
Also I am loving the backgrounds, the inside of Gran Gran's House is just wonderful.
So here is some of the stuff I've spotted, which from my understanding come from a mix of Windwaker and Phantom hourglass.
Yahaha! You found him! :D
What I believe is the Town flower? I think that's right.
A Ruto crown I believe!
They went ice skating and thats adorable
Look at this boy
How could you not love him?
Cause I do
Loft my beloved
Me figuring out if this is saying Lie to my gran or Dont lie to my gran because of that hand.
Pretty sure it's Lie to my Gran. But I think it's funnier if it's, Dont lie to my gran.
Take it as you will
Loft using Groose, he looks so nervous I love him,
Wolf picking Rusl makes me so happy. Man is a hometown kid.
Slate, the sweet darling boy. I love all of them very much. Also, with that smug face, he 100% knew what he was doing.
This is the look of a man who likes you because his grandmother approves of you.
Also, I think I would literally die for Gran Gran i love her to pieces and if anything happens to her I will go on a rampage, (Affectionally, with a tub of ice cream)
This update was wholesome I loved it. AND THOSE BACKGROUNDS YES.
Background appreciation time
Look at the detail on the boat!
Even out of focus the fact that you can see the blades of long grass or the hatching on the window.
(ALso look at how sweet my blorbo is Loft beloved)
I just love how much detail is in the house or on the tree to the right hand side here.
And the little flowers just outside I see you. so cute!
Now inside the House is just so incredible looking.
The small details on the blanket on the bed, or the pictures on the wall. The fact that you can make out what they are at this distance is just so cool okay.
Again, the details on the items on the shelf, or in the flowers in the top right-hand corner.
It's just incredible how detailed stuff is and I love it.
Love it so much!
Okay thats my rambles done for another update. Thanks for following along!
I hope you have a great day! :D

Avatar the last airbender - a small thought on Aang design
....Ok, so, all the talking about avatar these past days made extremely inclined to rewatch clips and episode from theoriginal. and with that, i developed a particular opinion o a specific things: Aang's tatoos.
Now, we all like the lore and worldbuilding of this world; it has its issues, but it functions really smoothly (not considering Korra). I do think one thing we can all agree too: Aang's tatoos are how they are because they look cool by themselves more than for cultural reasons, but they do even more in his avatar state:
Aang is visually really cool and iconic in both forms, and that is in gran part thanks to the tatoos.
What i want to say with this is: why only Aang has them? or to be precise, why the avatar state interacts with a visual component of the body other than the eyes only with the Air nomads tatoos? other air avatars have them, so it seems to be a peculiarity exclusive to his people. why is that?
And why is that a "problem" with me.
I'll be short with this: i just think all the other avatars should have visually highlighted elements other than just the eyes like aang does.
I just see it as a wasted opportunity, both to add cool properties to the avatar state and to add cultural details to the avatars and their people.
Like, i don't know if it's explained somewhere, i don't remember all of the show by memory, but it don't remember to any explanations as to why. One could sayis because the air temple are the most spiritual one. are you sure? that in the whole world only them have figured out tatoos that connect to the spirit? come on.
it's shown multiple times that spirituality is something possesed by all nations, and each with their own interpretation and local declination, this is just the one of the air nomads. Yeah, maybe adding to the others would leessen the specialness of the air nomads, but i think we would only gain by more visually diverse avatar states.
Like, tell me to my face that it wouldn't be cool to have fire avatar with glowing flames pattern on their fists and feet (maybe face even), water avatars with flowing waves all over their body, and maybe earth avatars with patterns all over their chest and back.
also, one, could say that the tatoos are important to aang, and so maybe this is a uniquely his thing for some reason. well, this opens even more possibilities!
if the avatar state does make things on the avatar's body glow based on their history and feelings, we could have things like hair, fingernails, only hands or feet, the mouth, and stuff like that. something like Anne from amphibia.
Listen, i just want something as badass as this for tthe other avatars too.
This all train of thought started mainly after i rewatched some TloK clips, where i realized how plain she looks if compared to Aang.
Like, she does go hard visually many times (especially here), but Aang just sticks to you.
i'm not sure what i could give to korra that does not clash too much with her design; again, maybe some arm tatoos would do the trick, but, given how her story goes, i think it would be cool if she had something like glowing cracks in her skin, giving a hint on her depowered/unstable character state, overflowing from her.
or maybe even just a glowing shade on the end of her hair.
don't know, i just think this was kind of a waste of good design, there to look cool but to not expand this privilege to others as well.

Shouto: "Alright."
Izuku: "I kinda killed a guy."
Shouto: "Oh. Okay."
Izuku: "... That was too cool, even for someone with your quirk. You're not even surprised? Not a little?"
Shouto: "Well, the yakuza thing happened quite a while ago. I got time to get used to the idea."
Izuku: "What are you talking about?"
Shouto: "The yakuza that was with Eri and on which you used OFA at 100%."
Izuku: "The yakuza isn't dead! We looked at the police reports afterwards! There was no body in that alley!"
Shouto: "Yeah, because you vaporized him."
Izuku: "..."
Shouto: "What's more likely: that the most powerful in the quirk used by someone that had more adrenaline than blood in his veins has taken care of all forensic evidence or that somehow, this random guy managed to walk out of this alley?"
Shouto: "Wait, you're telling me you killed someone else?"
Izuku: "I don't want to talk anymore."

Jen Tortures Herself With Every Dreamworks Animated Movie Ever: The Croods: A New Age
So back when I watched the first entry in The Croods series, I was actually pretty plesantly surprised. But believe it or not, this movie managed to surprise me even more, because not only is it good, its actually, like... really good?? Shocking, I know, so let's get into why I think that.
We rejoin the Croods as they continue on their quest for a new home, eventually crossing paths with the Bettermans, a much more "advanced" family that's just a little more evolved than they are. Initially disliking the chaos the Croods bring to their family and their home, the Bettermans devise a plan to get rid of the cavefamily, while convincing Guy to stay, as his family was friends with the Bettermans and they see him as a perfect match for their daughter, Dawn. From there, well, damn a whole bunch happens, with lots of twists and turns I wasn't expecting as these two incredibly different families buck heads and learn to accept each other.
So yeah, the plot here is pretty solid and very character focused, which is probably why I liked it so much. Like we really do just have so much emphasis on character interactions and dynamics here, with some really great standouts being Dawn and Eep's friendship (they're lesbians, harold) that could have just as easily been a jealous rivalry for Guy, but isn't, the eventual epic bromance between Phil and Grug, Ugga and Hope initially hating each other but eventually coming to terms with each other, Gran just being The Character Ever, and so much more. There's a lot going on here, but there's so much to like about it! I'm impressed!
So yeah, speaking of the characters, I already liked the Croods family in the first movie, but they're even better here. Grug is still the typical overprotective dad trying to keep the family together, but he's way less overbearing about it than he was in the first movie. We also see some good progression in Eep and Guy's relationship, and I think they're a pretty cute and solid couple! The Bettermans are also a lot of fun! Phil and Hope start out as sort of selfish, manipulative jerks who just want the Croods out of their lives, but they go through some pretty solid development and learn to appreciate the Croods and welcome them into their home. Dawn is also a lot of fun, a girl who has spent her life living on the safe side, so of course, she readily takes Eep up on the offer to have some fun the first chance she gets.
The movie doesn't have much in the way of an antagonist, aside from the punch monkeys, which are a pretty funny final act obstacle for the families to overcome. Really though, the conflict here really does center on the friction between the Croods and the Bettermans, and the film does such a great job of developing that friction and naturally bringing both families to a good place with each other.
The humor here is also a lot better than the first movie's. Sure, there's still a handful of grossout jokes here and there, but a lot of the jokes here just come from the characters being themselves (like I said, Gran is a standout for the Crazy Old Lady trope, and also, a total badass in her own right). I think that tends to be my favorite kind of humor with Dreamworks movies, when the jokes lean on these characters reacting to situations in their own unique, humorous way.
The animation has also been stepped up here quite a bit. The character designs look better somehow, and the movement they have to them is very fluid. The film is just bursting with color throughout, with set pieces that are just as creative and pretty to look at as the first film's. The music was pretty average, but I'm fine with that because I was so impressed with everything else.
So yeah, Croods 2. Who could have guessed this was a surprisingly great movie? I certainly didn't, I went into this movie with the barest expectations possible and came out having thoroughly enjoyed it. I earnestly recommend it for anyone who's looking for a fun film with a good story and great characters. It may just surprise you, like it surprised me.
Overall Rating: 8/10
Verdict: LET'S GO LESBIANS LET'S GO

PRIDE ASK!!! can I get some Ace Wind rep, it's not just a phase! and it's no less valid just because they're teenagers!!!! RAHHHHHH
HIIII of course here you go <3
Summary: Wind helps Twilight become comfortable with his asexuality. 431 words, fluff and super mild hurt/comfort.
“SO!” Wind exclaimed, leaning dramatically over the back of the log Twilight was sitting against. Twilight jumped, hands clenching the sides of the book he was reading.
“I heard you think you might be ace,” Wind continued.
Twilight blushed, ears wiggling downward. When he spoke, his drawl was hushed and quick. “How’d you know?”
Wind hopped over the log and settled with his shoulder pressed into Twilight’s arm. He felt Twilight relax at the contact.
“Through my glorious powers of observation,” Wind said, gesturing widely with his arms. “You’re always quiet when the others are talking about their sex stuff I’m not supposed to hear. Plus, I used to get the same look on my face when people talked about attraction. I get it. Am I right?”
Twilight sighed and closed his book, then pulled his knees to his chest. "You’re right. I… I dunno. Hearing you and Legend talk about asexuality… it feels right to me, in a way other labels don’t.
“Yeah?” Wind smiled widely, looking at Twilight encouragingly. Twilight rested his chin on his arms and did something with his mouth that could’ve been a smile, if a smile got mauled by wolves.
Heh. Wolves. Because Wolfie.
Wind mentally shook himself, bringing his focus back to Twilight. “What’s that face about?”
“I dunno. Just… I’m 23. Shouldn’t I have figured this out by now?”
Wind shrugged and rested his head on Twilight’s shoulder. “Look, the only reason I know is because Gramma is awesome and taught me an Aryll about all kinds of different sexuality and attraction and gender stuff. Perks of a trans grandma. It doesn’t matter if you’re 87 or 13. Your sexuality is yours, and yours to discover at your own pace.”
Twilight was silent for a moment, letting Wind’s words filter through his mind. Then, his shoulders shook with a silent laugh. “Did you take that line from your gran’s talk?”
“Normally I would defend my honor, but I am proud to admit my gramma is a badass. So yes.”
Twilight laughed and lightly pushed Wind with his shoulder. Wind pushed back, then wiggled underneath Twilight’s arm. Twilight rubbed his shoulder, though Wind suspected it was more about soothing himself than Wind.
“Soooo…” Wind said. “Do you have any questions?”
Twilight sighed again. “I don’t know. I mean, it feels right. I’m just…”
“Can I tell you about the day I decided I was asexual?” Wind asked.
“Oh, yes, please.”
“It’s not a very inspirational story, since my gramma’s so chill and open about everything. But one day, after Aryll was back home safe…”

Hmm Jet or katara for the headcanon thingy? Hi btw<3 hope youre doing okay, sorry for not commenting recently
Aahh hi! I hope you're ok too, and don't worry about it! I appreciate you anyway! <3
Answers for this ask game
Jet:
Headcanon A: realistic - he's a pretty good cook; nothing fancy, but when you have to make do with whatever you can AND get a bunch of kids to eat it, you learn a thing or two.
Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious - despite his grace in a fight, he has two left feet when it comes to any kind of dancing.
Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends - he had a baby sibling he lost in the fire, and an older brother who left to join the army; since there were few people alive to send word, the brother didn't find out about the attack until he came home on leave. By then, Jet had set out on his own.
Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own. - He's alive and living out his days on a farm far away from Ba Sing Se <3 He got some time to grow up without the pressure of having to provide for everyone around him (not that that stops him from trying)
Katara:
Headcanon A: realistic - Katara's waterbending manifested late, but there were signs of it before that — ones her parents hoped they were wrong about.
Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious - she once almost joined the atlaverse equivalent of an MLM scheme until Sokka talked her out of it. She still kind of laments the lost opportunity. (there was no opportunity.)
Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends - after the war, when Hama was transferred back to the Water Tribe, Katara reluctantly accompanied Kanna to visit her; Katara didn't hear anything they said, but Gran-Gran came out in tears - Katara hadn't ever been hugged that tightly by her grandmother.
Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own. - she remained a badass lady forever and did not let her husband favor any of their kids because they've both seen what happens when you do that <3

rating changes made in natla: episode 1
I wanna be clear that I overall enjoyed the series. Most things I had problems with were actually pretty minor.
Planning to attack the Earth Kingdom as a distraction from the Air Nomad genocide: kind of cool I guess but still a weird and random way to open a whole ass show with these randos. Maybe a good way to set up the White Lotus I guess. Cool excuse to see Sozin. Reaction: Neutral
Kyoshi narrating the introduction: Cool. Makes sense. We haven’t met Katara yet. Also cool that they didn’t stick to the original opening monologue bc that wouldn’t have fit as well actually. Reaction: Positive
Showing life in the Air Temple before it was attacked. I mean I get it. It shows Aang’s reaction with Gyatso and kind of leads us to understand where he comes from. It makes his loss hurt that much more. Reaction: Positive
Great Comet Festival: Obviously an excuse to get everyone together for the Genocide but cool I guess. Reaction: Neutral
Aang just going away to clear his head instead of running away from being the Avatar: I get it. It’s to make him seem more likable, not irresponsible. I really don’t care either way. Reaction: Neutral.
Showing the Air Nation genocide: It didn’t last too long and it wasn’t as terribly graphic as I thought it could be. It fit in with the tone and narrative. Did it add anything to the point that it seemed necessary? No. Reaction: Neutral.
Katara using the Fire Nation ship as a place to practice her bending? Badass. Reaction: Positive
Showing more of Sokka’s duties/leadership/burden around the SWT village: love it, delicious, I’m obsessed. Also leaning into Hakoda’s absence. Great. Reaction: Positive
Finding Aang for some random reason that isn’t Katara being pissed at Sokka’s sexism: Honestly I wasn’t bothered by this the first time around but now it’s clear to me this is the first in a long line of choices that make Katara’s character more boring and like. peaceful so. Reaction: Negative
Zuko’s fanatical journal and doodle wall: Love it. Super on brand. Reaction: Positive
Aang already having the bison whistle: whatever. Reaction: Neutral
The SWT having a longhouse: It’s a small change but I love how much more developed the set is… Reaction: Positive
Gran Gran doing the opening monologue from the original show: it fit but I’m sorry it was soooo cringe oh my god….. Reaction: Negative
Let me just mention this here but it’s kind of weird that Katara doesn’t mention her mother’s necklace in the whole show when it was so important to the plot of the original show??? Just another facet of her character ignored I guess. Reaction: Negative
The weird claw thing the Firebenders do: it’s ugly lol. Reaction: Negative
Iroh starting real early trying to convince Zuko his dad sucks: their relationship is so much cooler and better in this show and I can’t really explain it. But I like this and it fits. Reaction: Positive
Sokka’s real ass engineering and defensive skills on full display? Huge love. Reaction: Positive
That one boy close in age to Sokka. Why is he here? Wasn’t Sokka supposed to be the only one left? Glad he gets a boyfriend though. Reaction: Neutral
Iroh’s conversation with Aang on the Fire Nation ship: it’s whatever. An interesting choice to have him tip his hand so early. I have to believe there’s a reason for it and again it works with his overall narrative in the season. Reaction: Neutral
Not spending so much time at the Southern Air Temple… I get it, it was kind of the trade off for showing so much in the beginning. It’s fine, it works. Reaction: Neutral
Aang bringing himself out of the Avatar state by thinking about Gyatso/who he is/whatever, instead of Katara doing it: I get it, they seem to be wanting to cut out any overt Kataang stuff. Still, the relationships between our three main characters are just not nearly as tight in this version of the show and something like this might have saved it? Still, Aang crying in her arms afterward covers that a bit so. Reaction: Neutral
