May 2023
May felt longer than it needed to be. Thought I did finally get a job and finished my frist year of college. Now I just stuffed with the heat wait for work....
'*•.¸♡ Movies♡¸.•*'
El Camnio Dir. Vince Gilligan
I watch this a few days after fishing brecking bad, and the only way i could describe it would be sadly satisfying. I'm just watching this chraater who was beaten down constantly by life and just desperately trying to move on, and it is just so good. I could talk for ages about how tod treats jesse and what it means. errgrgegegeg. 8/10
Young Adult(2011) Dir. Jason Reitman
The Meyerowitz Stories Dir. Noah Baumbach
Knowing it from the one quote about parents you always see on Tumbler Post. Ya know the one. But ya it so good. I love how it expore, not nessaily abuse parents, but just shitty and how that lack of love or support can affect someone. Thought i would say that for one of the siblings (kinda spoliers?) it make a point about how I forgot they were in a way there sibilng never was and then... never gave them a story?? Like it was just like there were there, talk about their reasonship with there shitty father, and then move on to how it effcted the other two sllblings. While with the other two they showed many time there reaship with their father. I dont i was just confused that one part. It's still a good movie. I'm just kinda confused. 8/10
I liked this. It feels like watching a train wreck, someone who so stuck in the past that they think that everyone is as stuck as they are, and how that stubborn can affect every aspect of a person life. Idk i think it's really interesting to think about, esapalliy the main charater. 8/10
White Chicks (2004) Dir. Keenen Ivory Wayans
Silly goofy thought it was funny. 2000 in the best and worst ways 5/10
The Lovebirds Dir. Michael Showalter
ahh, this is probably the 5th timI've rewatched this flim. It is just my favrotie comfore movie. I i just love coming back to it. Probayeb, my favourite romcom ever. 9/10
Nightcrawler Dir. Dan Gilroy
This man would listen to business bro podcasts and be too into American pyhco. I liked it. The main thing i love was the music. It scored like of those big success stories, but everything shows Horrfic, so at times, can give you this very off-putting feeling. It is just everything about the story, and the main character was made to put you off in some way, and I love it. 7/10
˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚T.v shows˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚
I watched it all in a day while working on a painting, and it was ok??, idk, think it has that problem that i can't really put my figure on, but it is the same one that couldn't get me into fleagbag, i guess. I found the main couple be insuffable in a way that i didn't want them to end up together and actively hoped they ended off worse than when the show started. I like a lot of the secondary relationships thought. I read a bit about and it said that it was originally a play and i think probaly would have liked it more if i watch it as a play 5(maybe less the more i think about it)/10
Crashing ( 2016)
*:・゚✧*:・゚Five songs I love*:・゚✧*:・゚
My Mom-Kimya Dawson
Amercian Pie- Don McLean
Fifteen Minutes-Mike Krol
Check the Rhime-A Tribe called quest
American has a problem- Beyonce (with Kendrick Lamar)

jfc okay so i have forgotten/been too lazy to write up reveiws here i apparently havent updated since. lone women which is well. so ive read a shit ton since then so i'm going try my best to write up as much as i can in this post bc i don't want to just. stop and skip over stuff. so well. here we go. spoilers for various books under the cut, i'll tag them all !
first book i finished after i last updated was silver nitrate by silvia moreno-garcia. been a while but damn do i remember the fucking vibes. absolutely killer vibes and atmosphere, and the plot was fun and interesting; i do remember being a bit confused in one of the final scenes fighting the guy but it wasnt enough to take me out of the story. the characters felt real and i could feel their love of movies and maybe each other off the page, definitely recommend if you're looking for an atmospheric, creepy little book.
next (and i'll just group these together) i read the poppy war trilogy by r. f. kuang ! absolutely wonderful storytelling and the characters were interesting and loveable. i think that this story succeeds in being one of the few good "war stories" as in it doesn't glorify or make light of any aspects of the war. there are good moments and bright spots throughout, but in the end pretty much every single character we know and love ends up dead, and before they're dead, they've been shaped so thoroughly by the war around them that there is no way anyone could have come out of this series thinking that it in any way romanticized the events. i loved everything about it and more. but while i did love the series. tbh i don't agree with everyone saying that its the most serious and intellectual and groundbreaking book in the entire world. yes it is groundbreaking and yes it is based on a lot of real life horrific events, but it's also. extremely entertaining. it's written beautifully and has some very poignant scenes that i love, and i am gonna be honest i lost where i was going with this point. i think what i'm trying to say is like before i read it, i saw a lot of people on the internet saying that it is like. the highest peak of literature and such and like. for me, it's mostly just a damn good time. i go into most books looking for entertainment (meaning like. i would like to feel emotions, not necessarily happy ones, just emotions in general) and what i think a lot of people made it seem like, was ONLY an epic tome about the brutality of war, the military, and colonization. and it absolutely is about that ! i am not docking points for it being about those things, in fact if it hadn't had all these hard hitting topics i wouldn't have liked it as much. but it's ALSO about rin, kitay, and nezha, and how they love and hate each other. and sometimes i think people lean too much into one aspect of the book, one way or the other (i have absolutely seen the inverse of this, people forgetting about the colonialism and militarization aspects in an impressive show of hypocrisy. which... is worse imo.) but idk. i have no idea what i am trying to say i just like this book yall.
next oml. okay again grouping them together for my own sake but i read the southern reach trilogy by jeff vandermeer ! this series was such a creepy and weird and offputting good time i ate that shit right up. the first book and the biologists pov are my favorites, and all of the insight we get from her and the first book into area x was just. so compelling i could not put that shit down. i'm pretty sure the second i finished in the hospital lol i was INVESTED. and honestly. i did really like the second book. not as much as the first, but i don't think it was bad or underwhelming compared to the first. once i got past the pov shift, i really liked controls pov partly because he is just some guy. like he is just so average and banal, and seeing this set against the absurdity of the rest of the book was really interesting. i liked how even though we weren't IN area x, the southern reach still had that otherworldly and offputting suspenseful energy, even in a familiar setting (office building type i mean. as opposed to weird as fuck forest). that and also i am deep into my f1 phase so like i kept picturing control as checo perez. like hes just so guy to me like hes just a normal guy that has no fucking clue whats going on and thats really funny and awesome to me. like man. anyway the third wasnt my favorite, but i still really like the series as a whole and will probably read the 4th one coming out whenever it does.
NEXT. sharks in the time of saviors by kawai strong washburn. did i cry. maybe. did i really like the story. yes. it was definitely a change of pace for me after reading the above books but the story was lovely and magical and engaging and very sad and i enjoyed every bit of it.
after that i read scattered all over the earth by yōko tawada, which is a story that i kinda have mixed feelings about? i listened to the audio book and the narrator did such a wonderful job, i loved listening to the two man characters talk about language in the mc's made up language, panska. and if the book was just about that, i probably would have liked it more, exploring language and the loss of it; however one of the side characters constantly get's misgenders when the story is outside of her pov. and it's like. really fucking distracting. so like i guess i don't have very mixed feelings about it lol. i liked one bit, definitely did not like another bit, and the rest of the book wasn't really strong enough to sway me back into the "i like this book and think it's interesting" camp. although if you can get past the blatant transphobia, the audio book really is nice to listen to, especially coming off a post surgery high.
next i read the ghost bride by yangsze choo ! this was another really atmospheric, palpable book. i could feel the setting, the humidity, the smells, all of it and it was so good! an engaging story, i'm pretty sure i read this one in a day or two. the characters were fun, the plot moved quickly in a way that made sense, and exploring the realms of the dead and the living with the characters was so fun, definitely recommend !
im gonna wrap this post up here mostly bc im hungry but i still have a lot more to update on ! if u made it this far thank you and also im sorry. happy reading!

Victini and Zekrom/Reshiram reveiw
VISUALS
THEY NAILED DOWN THE CGI LET"S GO
VOICE ACTING
All of them were great. No complaints.
PLOT
I worried that it would be bad considering that Damon is clearly Native-coded, but it was actually great!!!! I didn't quite understand why they disney death-ed ash for the 30th time, but its basically a requirement of a pokemon movie to do that at this point.
CHARACTERS
DAMON>>>>>>> EVERY OTHER MOVIE VILLAIN. I would jump off a cliff for Victini. But why was the girl with the shiny hydregion there other than exposition.
ASSORTED
why are where there two different movies that are mostly the same.
It's a shame that it's two, but it's one of my favorites so far. 5/5 or 9.9 out of ten

Shocking Set - Mondopiece Theatre
Today's comedy review is constructed primarily of the sludge at the bottom of the main septic tank in hell, dredged up by the maestro Barry Mahon. Yes, another Mahon Nudie Cutie short rolls in!

O being mad may not be a good thing because she’s the type of person to do ANYTHING to get the attention back on her. After how beautiful yesterday was, I don’t doubt she’ll try something to have people talking about her.
Well she already got herself papped so you’re right about that lol. But yeah, I know she’ll probably try to ruin it for Harry somehow, let’s just hope no one cares in the end and Harry doesn’t actually have to be involved🤞
#there are already rumors that she paid for the bad reveiws for mp#which I won’t put past her at all lol#we know she hates when the attention isn’t on her and her shitty movie especially with all the times she tried to overshadow mp#like when mp teaser and trailer came out and they released the dwd posters lol#but we’ll see I guess😩#also listen…the peace ring gave me hope alskjs which is dangerous lol#but it has to mean something since he stopped wearing it as soon as holivia started and now he’s worn it 4 days in a row

My mom (Twitter user), completely and earnestly asked me if I wanted to go see the Cruella movie (it’s still playing at our tiny local theatre) and when I responded like she’d asked me to cut off my own hand she was genuinely confused because she had read an article praising this movie saying how great it was and I have never been more viscerally reminded that we run in VERY different circles of the internet
#personal rambles#cruella#cruella movie#all i can rememeber is how it was ytrending for days because of how BAD it was#soemone watched this movie and gaveit a good reveiw#mickey mouse had a gun to tjeir head

The Owl House Weekly Reviews: King’s Tide: Watcha Playin?
Happy pride alll you happy gay, bi, pan, trans, enby, and anyone on the beautiful techincolor people! I intended to start with more David Bowie’s crotch but with the week getting away from me and with a lot to do this weekend that’ll have to wait. Still we’re back to the gayest place on earth one last time this season and for some of the last of my weekly coverage. I might do it for season 3, we’ll see, but while doing episodes of a show every week has been fun with ya’ll, it’s also incredibly stressful at times as I wasn’t able to finalize my schedule till the week before the next month. I’ll still likely cover one off episodes or do quick thoughts on new shows down the pipe like Hamster and Gretel and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur or ones in progress I watch like Big City Greens or The Ghost and Molly McGee, but as for doing reviews of shows as they come out
I”ll still be here reveiwing all kinds of fun animation and comics stuff though, and it’s pride which means it’s time for superman, simpsons and one of the most baffling lines in the history of media
And time to say goodbye for now for the last time to one of the best shows in recent memory. I stand by that 100% and have said it plenty: Owl House is a masterpiece, with it’s pacing, characterization and plot movement both feeling effortless and moving at rapid pace. It’s especially apparent this half as it’s become clearer that they DID in fact know season 3 was getting cut sometime this season, likely during the second half... and somehow managed to compress plot lines that were likely meant to play out over far more episodes into only a few, Hunter’s relationship with willow (which still hasn’t upgraded but we got plenty of crumbs to keep us huntlows fed), Alador’s face turn, the resitance, steve’s face turn, king dealing with what he is. .it’s clear these were PROBABLY supposed to take longer, but still feel fully realized as is. Despite knowing they coudln’t do everything they still did the most with what they had and it makes the anticipation for the finale movies all the bigger. The season didn’t just stick the landing it fucking piroutted into it. So let’s discuss that under the cut with full spoilres, though it has been long enough thanks to those busy few days I could put my new faviorite little shit up there without fearing it was too much.
So yeah while this is the only review without amphibia this season, supposed to be one of two but you know
I still don’t be doing the strict plot summary I often do. So let’s just go right up front and knock... the collector has finally fully been unleashed and we finally see who he is and it is both great and a lot. Prevoiusly while the collector spoke and acted like a child, it was hard to tell just HOW innocent he was. Was he just deeply immature and psychotic like Bill Cipher but gleefully aware how terrible his actions, like helping with genoicde are, or simply something more like Anthony Fremont, where due to being a child with the reality warping powers of a god, he dosen’t realize just how horrifying he is or his actoins are and there hasn’t been anyone powerful enough to properly teach him. To him humans, demons, witches and blob monster men that only one person in the entire world finds attractive, hello Bogs, are just people to play games with or toys to break. He dosen’t understand why say, splatting belos like a pile of gack on a wall is fucking horrifying or that possibly doing so to the hexasquad is wrong. It dosen’t entirely EXCUSE him from being terrible, but it explains it.
He’s also pitable. Sure he’s terrifying, again he took the big bad of the story who no one else has been able to take on in a straight fight and who even as near mindless monster STILL nearly killed the hexasquad and only lost because King summoned a god he happend to piss off.. but he also seemed to GENINELY value Belos as a friend and given what we’ve seen of phillip, he’s a skilled manipulator. He prayed on a child with flexible morals and then tossed him down a ravine. It’s one of the MANY, MANY reasons seeing him become wall gunk was so fucking satisfying. He’s not innocent and if he is to be redeemed he needs to, much like say the diamonds, work to undo the massive damage he’s done and is probably about to do. But I still have hope for him: he’s still a child. A child who needs to be disiplinced and taught right from wrong. Granted he could easily cross the moral event horizion wayyyy too far in the specials, but he could also come back> It’s a coin flip.
But the design, voice work and character theme are all top notcha nd the scene of him making belos into wall mold is fucking incredible from the little smile on him to just how fucking terrified belos is.. I mean everyone else too but again after having to put up with this prick for so long it’s just so NICE to see him terrified seconds before getting turned into abstract art. He sadly didn’t die but I doubt reforming as an alolan grimer in gravesfield will be much better for him. The point is in just a few minutes of proper screentime the collector goes from a creepy engima to an even creepier but far more complex god being whose giving our heroes their greatest challenge yet. I have NO idea how they’ll beat him and odds are it’ll have to be with empathy and thought instead of a straight up fight because if so the cast is gonna shrink a LOTTTT. I mean we’re in the endgame so we’re at the point where if Dana’s gonna kill anyone, it’s now, but it’s clear they can’t beat him.
So moving on to Phillip, we get more of a build to the fact his “grand victory” which is racist jerkhole terms for “mass genocide on a global scale”.. is really going to win him nothing. He’s dressed in period clothes planning to go back and not getting time has passed him by: puritan is a term for uptight asshole stuck in the past, with phillip convently the dictonary picture, witches are part of popular media, including this one, and are at worst cackling halloween decorations or tearing apart reality to find replacement kids, and society in general would see him as a crazy old man.. which he is but not for the reasons they think .He’s so deluded himself he never even considered things change till luz brings it up. With the collector it was clear he just didn’t want to hear it but with Luz he feels a kinship in species wanting to “save her”. But likely like it was for his brother since as it turns out puritans be fucking nuts, thanks Jess for that one, this world.. was her salvation. She fit in here. His nightmare is her daydream. It found her friends, love, a second mom, a brother, and made her better. It could’ve made Phillip better too but he clung so hard to his prejudices he made himself a monster as much outside as in. Luz learned who she was wasn’t perfect and changed.. phillip clung to the flawed person he was and the horrible idologies beaten into him and changed too.. becoming worse, giving into his worst tendencies.
It’s also what makes their fight satsifying: Luz does show she’s come a long way pulling off a sick fire combo and other great moves.. but ultimately she’s a fast learner, since the titan actually likes her, against a trained mastre whose had hundreds of years to pull of combos she can’t fathom and unlike her has a stick to fast track that shit. As such she looses... then wins again. See belos in a fight.. is near unbeastable with power both from his mutation and from sheer skill and mastery. It’s why the day of unity was so daunting, even if our heroes cleared the heads, the armies, the abomintons.. they still had to deal with Philip himself. And even as a group their odds weren’t great. But as a person while his scheming is near imptetnrible his ego isn’t. He thinks so little of anyone besides himself, that he’s very easy to manipulate. Luz played him the first time.. and does so again this time using a coven glove he left around to brand him, not only giving him the same death sentence he gladly gave everyone else, but with his own weapon.
Sadly though.. this dosen’t work. The spell is already in motion thanks to Terra, and I found the fact she simply figured out Rahne wasn’t brainwashed anymore was clever. I thought spying through his eyes or having a literal spy, but nope the bats are guilt free... and in the case of steve and amber just plain free as their not in this episodes, which I feel will be importnat. Or they just couldn’t fit all of them in a goop ring
Either way their absence is noticable. As is bump and the younger witches which is either a chekovs gun or Dana finally forgot something admist having to speedrun everything which if that’s the case it’s still something we can live without for now and it’s impressive only NOW she’s forgotten anything.. and I still have faith she didn’t and this is all deliebrate as it always has been. We’ll see in the fall I suppose.
Point is the rebellions failure is sad: it was ineveitble, especailly with Luz going directly to asshole do not pass go do not collect 20 dollars, and while it’s nice there was no traitor and VERY nice to FINALLY see the other coven heads scrap, even if we didn’t get personalities because fuck you disney, it was still sad to see everything fall apart to see our heroes loose.. and our villians realize instead of utopia.. they just get to die. There was no grand design.. just death and they caused their own. *IT’s a fitting defeat for terra.. her own manipualtions and selfishness nearly killed her. I doubt it’s the last we’ll see. And I hope so. I still want to know what creepy healing guy and potion scarf man’s deals are. What ARE THEY.
But yes, Belos NEARLY wins. As while Luz’s gambit is clever it forgot one thing: Belos dosen’t CARE if he lives or dies. Sure he wanted to go home, but as he said to himself while summoning the collector he had to live long enough “to see this througH” so if long enough is “while everyone else dies” that’s fine. Even if he weren’t horribly mutated by the sigil, his inablity to control his wild magic turning him into a savage green monster hulk style... there wasn’t an off switch.L That was never a priority. Like Thanos, I get yet ANOTHER thanos comparison.. there was never any intent to let anyone walk this back. If he dies, he dies, but the mission comes first. He may not live to get the fancy witch hunter general hat, but he’ll have “saved” us from what he sees as a monsters. Luz underestimated just how much Belos belivied his own lies and it nearly cost her everything. While it was truly awesome seeing the hexasquad fight him even borderline feral.. belos is still ultimately too strong and nearly kills them all.
So we get King’s deal with our feral child god, and it’s smart working on his part: he makes up a bs game, gets an agreement to help, and does so in a way that guarantees the collector NEEDS to do what King needs most, save everyone, even if King is rightfully afraid of him and it turns out it wasn’t belos but the collector his dad hid him from. And again given all of the above, King makes the hard choice.. replacing one problem with another but at least preventing genocide. Also I couldn’t help but be reminded of mr popo just casually restoring the sun when the collector just.. moved the moon. Great stuff
That also leads to our tearful climax... while everyone’s saved, though eda was earlier thanks to rahne.. their now at the mercy of a god and Willow cleverly suggests booking it to earth... and Luz intends to stay with king to make sure everyone’s safe from the grumpy child. But in the end King’s real growth comes in the sacrifice he makes: he knows the collector wants him and will probably be satsitifed with that much... and that at worst Luz won’t come back will be safe and at best it gives them a chance to plan and come save his mother later. His letting her go was utterly heartbreaking, but was the perfect capper of king’s development from wacky comic relief sidekick.. to a true hero willing to trap himself with child he does not want to play with if it means his sister and friends are safe.
The ending is also just rife with possiblity: belos is still alive, camilla now not only gets to meet living proof the isles were good for her daughter but has to make the hard choice to let her go back for the greater good, hutner finally gets a mom and vee get smore friends.. and we ge tmore of that adorable mud fish thing. Seriously her just casually helping with dinner has only happened twice but it’s always adorable. We also got confromation of something vastly important that will likely have no impact whatsoever on the plot but every impact on fanfiction
I’m so fucking happy I could burst. This opens so many doors. Point is there’s a lot to question. I also noticed Gus was the one to break down... and it made it the most impactful. He finally gets his dream.. and it’s with his dad and everyone else he knows bar the hexasquad at The Collector’s horrifying whims. Everyone else has even more reason to break down: Luz’s entire boiling isles family is trapped there with king directly trapped with the insane 8 year old behind it all, Amity saw her parents divorce and dosen’t know if her dad was going to make it last time she saw him, Willow’s dads are trapped and Hunter.. well in the span of a week he’s had everything he knows been proven to be a lie, been nearly killed by the man who raised him multiple times, found out he was a clone of someone belos murdered, hid in a school, had to survivie hhis best friends mind labyrinth, nearly got used for a prisoner exchange, got swapped by his friend to save his ass without his consent and had his uncle gaslight him and growl CALEB at him, confrming the preson he killed once owned Flapjack.
Point is Camilla needs to hug all of them and I need a paper bag after al lof that. This is going to be one hell of a wait and I can’t wait to see how it wraps up. I’ll be sad to see the show leave.. but this is how you pull off a cliffhanger :leave them begging for what’s next after throughly earning it.
Overall season 2.. is a masterpiece. Season 1 was good.. but season 2, now free from executive mandates since Disney clearly was planning to axe the show, and frankly it’s a miracle we’re getting the season 3 we are, got to do whatever it wanted, giving us a dark, tense, if still funny as hell and heartfelt ride. We’ve had pirate adventures, karens who sell arms and try to profit off genocide, gooey murder butlers, a valid aseop against anti-vaxxers at exactly the right time, Gus metting a lady then finding out she’s terrible, The Season of Hunter, one of the best and most visable non-binary characters in animation, a hooty episode that ended up being one of the best and most important of the series, this
Camilla getting fully fleshed out and adopting an adorable mud lizard thing, Luz’s denail reaching criticla mass, time travel, HUNTLOW, a tournament arc, a flashback..
People wearing kingskin caps, MORE HUNTLOW, Soul Searching Steve Road Trips, a rescue arc with one of the greatest lesbian kisses in animation history, and finally
It’s been a great pleasure covering this one. Thank you all for reading and thank you so much for enjoying my weird shit. Before you go please consider voting in my latest poll or joining my patreon

hi, i hope you’re still taking these requests!!
i’m mars! i’m about 5’4 and my hair is currently dyed brown and cut pretty short. i’m genuinely surprised i’ve kept it one color for this long because i have such a bad habit of dyeing it as soon as i get bored.
currently my hobbies consist of playing video games, singing and writing. that’s just to list a few! i love playing rhythm games, i think they’re so fun and easy to get wrapped up in. i usually only sing now when i do karaoke but i still scream my spotify playlists while i’m on the way to work and back everyday. and writing!! absolutely adore creating your own little worlds just from the thoughts in your head and sharing it with others.
personality wise, i think i’m sorta laid back. i only really get excited if i’m talking about or doing something i enjoy. i’m more comfortable being myself around the people i know, but i don’t mind trying to socialize and make new friends.
my current style is whatever is comfortable. i typically opt for biker shorts and a crop top/t-shirt. if i’m going out, however, that’s a completely different story. i’m always sure to dress up as much as i can.
i’ve got a pretty diverse music taste, but lately i’ve been listening to either my “unhinged” playlist (feat. poppy, mr. kitty, jazmin bean, and lots of other amazing artists) and lana del rey on repeat.
i’m currently working on trying to get a nursing degree! i’ve had a rough time in college so i decided it was time to start over completely and i’m pretty happy with it so far.
as far as my last few things, my favorite movie is either “fight club” or “leon the professional,” my favorite book is “of love and other demons,” and i think that’s all!
YOU AND CALVIN ARE FR SOULMATEESSSS!!!
I cant even explain how perfect you'd be togther oml!! you two could reveiw each others writing and learn from each other. He'd totally love everything abt you and just loves to watch you do absolutely anything and will tell you how great you are all the time.

I'm going to fix this fucking dumpster fire of a story.
First let's fix Jack.
Jack is still the pumpkin king and longs for something more.
Jack still finds Christmas town and loves it and brings stuff back for Halloween.
Jack tries to tell the town how great Christmas is but don't like it, so Jack lies about everything about Christmas. He says you put horrible things in the presents and stockings, you put snakes in jack-in-the-boxes and he describes santa as krampus just so that the town would like halloween. Here Jack is starting to loose what that Christmas feeling was all about.
Jack makes the toys and dresses up as santa (like we already see in the movie) but instead of just going "wait, I am the pumpkin king.. WELP, that happened oh well." He goes "oh no, what have I done?! This isn't what Christmas is about!"
Jack goes back to the town where the mayor takes away Jack's title as pumpkin king for ruining Halloween and lying to the whole town so he goes to find comfort in Sally (we'll get to her in a bit) where she confesses her love to him and him to her, and they live happily ever after.
Now onto Sally
As with Jack, how she's introduced is fine.
Instead of having 80% of Sally's screen time being away from Jack (I'm pretty sure they only have 2 scenes where they're in the same frame) have her be sneaking out of Dr. Finklestein's to do.. Whatever the fuck she does in the movie, have her have more moments when she gave Jack the gift basket. (where she was there and he saw her but when he looks back she's gone).
When she meets Jack when he's giving our different jobs have them meet for the first time face-to-face and Jack goes "hey, I know you! You're that one who [insert nice gesture for Jack here]!"
Again, she tries to warn Jack to stop and he listens to her before hearing the town crying "Jack! Jack! Jack!" where he feels like he now has a duty.
After Jack gets stripped of his title, Sally comforts him and confesses her love. He does the same to her and they both realise that Christmas is about spending time with those you love.
General Things
Antagonists - In this movie there was bearly any tension before oogie boogie took Santa and Sally, have the oogie boogie man be introduced earlier than halfway through the movie. Have Dr. Finklestein be more imposing and determined to take Sally back, maybe even have him threaten her with more than a room with A GIANT FUCKING UNLOCKED WINDOW DOOR, COMPLETE WITH ROPE! IS THIS DUDE SMART OR NOT? Have the Mayor be an antagonist rather than a stupid man who grovels and worships the ground Jack walks on.
Lore - we all know that there are magic doors, but how do they work? And what does Jack do as the pumpkin king? Is he above or below the mayor in this world? If you want to make a good world that people care about, you need to know these things.
I would also like to note that I know Mayors can't take titles away from Kings, but the title "The Pumpkin King" isn't very telling. At the start of the movie we see a parade going on. I assumed, like a Mardi Gras King, it was just an empty tile with no real democratic meaning. And like I said in the lore segment, we need to know these things. (plus, his house doesn't look much of a castle and he doesn't have surfs all around him at all times. Or ever. The closest thing he has to surfs is the band outside his house.)
Just watched nightmare before Christmas for the First time
Honestly It doesn't live up to the hype.
Jack doesn't learn the error of his ways at the end and Jack and Sally's Relationship seems forced.

MIDSOMMAR SPOILER REVIEW: this movie fucking broke me
CW:RAPE, ABUSE, PEDOPHILLIA
“Midsommar” is a grimm fairytale of sorts. A fairly different homage to the cult film the “wicker man”. “The wicker man” is about a european cult being investigated by a british christian cop, “midsommar” avoids the christian indictment of pagan/occult religious practices. midsommar attempts to be an out and out horror film unlike the a genre bending murder mystery/horror/thriller roots of “The wicker man”. Director ari aster obviously wanted to add to the annals of folk horror by creating an ambitious beautifully horrific and sometimes downright psychedelic film. Ari aster wanted to make a film where you can’t hide from the horror as it all happens in front of you. It's also a breakup movie for some reason? As someone who has seen the theatrical cut twice and the director's cut once I can assure you it misses the mark when taking both concepts. If you're wondering whether not to watch the film i think that on a technical level “midsommar” is beautiful and has amazing cinematography, but the answer is yes, but no. Jordan Peele was shown an advance copy of the film and told Aster "I think you’ve made the most idyllic horror film of all time" that high praise. But that being said for personal reasons this will be my final time seeing the film. I think the director's cut is a gorgeous and amazing three hour film. But as someone personally affected by rape, pedophillia, and the victimization mentally or physically handicapped people i cant reccomend this film wholeheartedly. I'm far from squeamish and love films that revel in shock, horror and extremity but I cannot in good conscious recommend a film I almost walked out on. I think Ari Aster has backpedaled immensely in his ability to create horror that exhibits empathy for his characters and the triumphs and tragedies that he subjects them too. “Hereditary” had an amount of emotional pathos for its characters that was almost completely removed from “Midsomer”. The fim feels unreasonably cruel even for a horror movie. Although enjoyable, proceed with caution “Midsommar” is a beautiful, slow, horrific but ultimately controversial mess of a film. 8/10
(the rest of this review is a plot synopsis and a meditation on the more controversial passages in the movie and is to be read for those who have actually seen midsommar. Spoilers abound!)
So what’s it about?
Midsommar is about Dani, an anxious and vulnerable young woman dating an emotionally abusive and reserved boyfriend named christian. After her bipolar sister commits suicide and murders both there parents, Dani goes on a european excursion with cristian with his anthropologist friends as they study a swedish cults midsommar summer solstice tradition. Dani reeling not only from having her parents taken from her by their favorite child, but also from the lack of any real emotional support goes on a gorgeous, psychedelia, induced nightmare of the cult horror variety. Immediately after touching down on the swedish cult's beautiful grassy commune christian manipulates dani into taking psychedelics. Christian although quite emotionally stunted and quite meek at his core is very sly and amazing at working people. Watching Christian make Dani do psychedelic drugs (mushrooms i believe) to make her clear refusal to take them into something that not only affects christian but also his friends and everyone around them is almost scary in its hilariously methodical toxicity. This leads to dani having a panic attack and from there the hits just keep on coming. Dani then has to watch as two cultist commit ritual suicide. This traumatic incident further escalated when one jumped off the mountain on his leg and needed to have his head crushed by cult members till it turns to meat and dust. To make a long three hour story with icelandic pacing short lets race to the finish line:
Christian begins to be pursued by a cult member named maja. Dani still reeling from seeing two people commit suicide has her worries invalidated by christian and all of his anthropologist bros. The anthropology bro argues about who deserves to break basically every rule of basic anthropology as they try to see who gets PAID for perverting a culture they were invited to study not disturb. Christian eats one of majas pubes. After pissing on a ceremonial tree for the dead, and taking photos of the forbidden religious text (written by an inbred autistic oracle boy) our two american secondary characters are chopped off. Dani and christian are the final outsiders left standing. Dani joins a dance competition (yes really) and becomes this year's may queen. forever to be immortalized in the annals of white female faces shown in portraits plastered in the sleeping quarters of this matriarchal cult commune. Christian is then raped as we discover how all the bodies of our other character are disposed of. Dani, inebriated and vulnerable, discovers christian being raped by the cult and forced to sleep with the 16 year old maja. Disgusted dani vomits and syncs her cries of pain with the cult sister and finally has her trauma validated. She is given the choice to then murder christian as hes trapped in a paralyzed state. Dani decides to burn christian alive in the body of a bear, finally defeating and overcoming her emotional abuser. Dani smiles as the cult writhes in pain from the death of the cult members burning alive with christian.Dani is happy. She has family. She is home.
So lets (finally) talk about maja
“Look at it from an academic perspective it would provide a unique glimpse into our sexual rights.”
“Can i not have a unique glimpse without participating?”
This is a conversation that is awkwardly cut from the theatrical version of midsommar. Christian is being offered to have sex with maja. Maja is a sixteen year old girl. The closest aster ever comes to revealing this fact is offhandedly mentioning maja having her first period. Christian refuses sex and is raped by maja, and the cult while a fourteen year old disabled child watches. There's a lot wrong with this scene. I’ll be honest for personal reasons I was really disgusted by this scene. I feel like im projecting but rape and pedophellia are really delicate topics and should be treated sensitivity. Ive seen alot of extreme very difficult horror films, i've seen rape, pedophillia, and violence explored in meaningful interesting and empathetic ways even ari asters own work like “meet the johnsons”. But watching maja rape christian with what i would assume are her older siblings, aunts, grandmothers, mother and other cult members as a 14 year old boy watches just made me feel fucking dirty. The weird part: it isn't horrific. While cristian was being raped, the audience I was watching it with were laughing. It wasn't scary. it was funny. It's a cognitive dissonance. The audience isn't aware of christians being raped or majas age. Most people assume he's cheating and deserves to be burned alive by dani. Making christian the bad guy of his own a rape is horrific but i shouldn’t need to hunt down that information and watch the film three times to understand that. It makes the movie feel as if its really bad at relaying basic information, at worst it's dishonestly hiding it to make the film more palatable. After putting all the pieces together I was disgusted. Ari aster crossed a line. I felt queasy and never wanted to see this film ever again. The fact ari aster could have made maja of age, or take the disabled 14 year old out the scene entirely, or not have had christian be raped in the first place while reaching a more understandable and tragic ending annoys me to know end, it feel like i watched these characters be used and mistreated for no reason. Just to shock me. It lacks value, it’s gross and uninteresting. much like christian and everyone involved i feel violated and it's really hard for me to enjoy watching what is an otherwise (although flawed) very interesting and compelling work or art. I’m still morbidly curious of the next film ari aster makes but i really hope he learns for this mistake and doesn't objectify children in another weird fetishistic male rape comedy routine. It just leaves me confused, disgusted and only makes it more challenging to analyze the more interesting implications of the film. I really appreciated hereditary as someone who has a very emotionally abusive family and has a very hard time processing death. I found hereditary horrific as it is cathartic. As someone who had to quite recently confront a pedophile, midsommar just left me hurt, and trapped. I was reliving some of the worst parts of my trauma as an audience sits around and laughs at it. It all felt so tragic and meaningless. I want to actually give ari asters work an honest critique but he's produced the only work of film that really hurt me and left me feeling violated. I really love his work and I know I'm exaggerating but I hope art never has such a negative effect on my mental health or anyone else’s ever again. I don't blame Maja or christian or the actor who portrayed them. I respect their performances although I have zero respect for how utterly tasteless midsommar ended up being for me. I think I need to learn how not to take art so seriously and try not to invest myself in other people's work. It's a difficult habit to kick. Needless to say, I cannot recommend this movie. If you're able to separate art from the artist and read this whole review without watching the film you're not a bad person for watching it, midsommar is a compelling, difficult experience.
I hope you enjoyed this review and I'm sorry if it got wayyy too personal in the end there. The movie clearly struck a raw nerve for me. if you enjoy this or any review i've dones let me know. I may reveiw hereditary in the future.if your also having issues with death, rape, abuse or mental health i hope this review didnt make it worse. Everyone is deserving of love, family, community and I hope everyone can find that. Have a good day, and have a safe quarantine.

I went to see Cats (2019) for Christmas
On a good day I'd like to think that my followers assume i have at least half a brain cell. Im sorry to disappoint.
For reference, I had seen the reveiws for this movie. I know that Rotten Tomatoes has given it a whopping 18% and literally every review for it is basically saying its bad. I have never seen or heard the stage musical version, but i was a step up from my sister who didnt even know it existed before the commercials.
"This looks awful," my sister said at about seven fifty pm on Christmas Day, "Let's go see it."
And because i do not have half a brain cell, i said yes.
We ended up both taking our boyfriends. The movie was at ten. We, the four of us, were legitimately the only people in the theater. Riot.
Here are my most coherent thoughts:
-what is going on.
-WHAT IS GOING ON
-i legitimately cannot understand a word of what they are saying and im a native English speaker.
-are we sure we're awake right now and this isn't some fever dream.
-why are some cats wearing clothes and the others arent?????
-i don't know whats going on but i would die for that magic cat
-is that Magneto???
-the ballet is cool but this looks really intimate and i don't know what it means because i still don't know whats going on
-WHY DOES IDRIS ELBA HAVE MAGIC
-Thats still not how tails work???
-can we please talk more about magic cat
-T-swift showed up and, uh...
-yeah
-that just happened.
-HOW DOES IDRIS ELBA LOOK MORE NAKED THAN ANY OTHER CAT
-I acquired one (1) emotion from a scene and i did not like it.
-im glad fat amy from Pitch Perfect is out here doing more movies, but what the fuck is with the skin suit.
-the second this movie is over im looking up the plot so i can understand what is going on
-i know this sad ostracized cat is going to win, and the only reason i want her to is because im very tired for listening to her reprise
-I have to pee really badly but im afriad if i leave i will miss the scene were it explains what the fuck is going on.
-Idris Elba magicked himself and T-swift away but T-Swift never showed back up???
-was this a plot or a piece of swiss cheese.
-THE CATS ARE STARING RIGHT INTO THE CAMERA AND I FEEL VERY SCARED FOR SOME REASON.
-the movie felt like it dragged on forever and simultaneously only last five minutes.
-not one theater employee did their mandatory walk through to check on us. I dont blame them at all.
So yeah, the rest of it was incoherent screaming. Also i looked up the actual plot. Very confused. Its nearing two am and im afraid to go to sleep. My half brain cell is gone. Stolen by the dancing mice and cockroaches in the first fifteen minutes of the film.
Merry Crisis, everyone. And to all a good night.
#greengabs#cats (2019)#a mistake was made#My sister left the theater in tears#we agreed that if anyone asks we went to see starwars instead#im not entirely sure the thing wasn't a fever dream#spoilers#kinda??

But after watching the movie omfg, It amzing. The art diretion is grogues, I need the art book. I love the designs of all the non-human charaters. I also love the music and how it adds to every secen. Its the amazing, with the contrasted of the fariy and the burtal harsh reality of fasism. I need to draw the fraw, 9/10
I love you, man (2009) Dir. John Hamburg
Sometime you watch a movie and reflect back at you like a mirror. I liked it. It was funny but also felt very real with just some guy trying to make friends. Thought the ending at the wedding seems kinda unrealistic 7/10
Charlie angels (2000) Dir. Edward Shearmaur
This movie seems like it was really fun to be in, more then it was to watch. It was just so average. Like it wasn't bad, I went into wanting to watch something light. But idk I was expecting some campy mess that make the movie fun. And god it so 2000, like God, that probably the main thing that made it so Average 4/10

I believed elsa death rumors were true but now again i doubt, they have so many ideas for the movie maybe on one of them elsa was going to die, but now i doubt that they really consider killing her and the change from bob iger based on the documentrary and some reveiws i see from it. of ocurse, disney will not talk about that, they will never aknlowledge elsa was going to die, but i dont know what to believe anymore
I remember writing THIS POST with “proofs” that Elsa was supposed to die back in the day. #9 may not be true anymore, but the other points are still valid.
Let me add a couple of things tho:
1) we had confirmation by a person on discord that the rumor was true. I have no reason to not believe this person, especially when they spoiled to me the interviews in the DVD specials. I heard everything Jenn & Co said in them, I even saw pics, 2 months before the dvd release, and surprise, the infos were correct. Word by word, screenshot by screenshot. So I have no reason to not trust this person when they say “this was the end they wanted”. This person knew since february 2019 that this was the end they liked the most.
2) why is it so important to the fandom? I don’t get it. And why is it a surprise? I mean....ANNA DIES in the first movie. And she comes back. Elsa was supposed to die the same way...and come back. OBVIOUSLY. No one ever stated she was gonna be dead forever! lol
The only question was: does she come back in this movie, or in the next? Do we leave an hint that she may come back, or not?
This is WHY they did test screenings.
And no, the San Diego one with parents and kids wasn’t the only one. There was another 1 month before in LA (I said April before, my bad, it was May) and there may be others.
So we have 2 people who saw the LA screening saying they were in different rooms with different endings (one of them negated in public but confirmed it privately, just to be clear. Better avoid troubles with Disney, I’m sure). One of the ends them was death, the other was death+symbol of hope, an hint that she may come back. Surely there were better endings in other rooms ;)
They wrote 18 versions of this movie, why do you think they made 1 version only of the end? ;) It doesn’t make sense!
3) To the ones who say “they didn’t have F3 in mind when they wrote F2″: PLEASE. You believe F1 is tied to F2 cause Jen told you, when F2 wasn’t even in the cards when they wrote F1, and you have troubles to believe that once they saw the huge success of Frozen, they didn’t order more movies?? In these cases a trilogy is a must.
4) Now we have people claiming the original F2 plot was even more dark.
- Jen saying Elsa is a mythological character (who sacrifice herself as mythological characters do!)
- A song, the Mathias/Northuldra one, who basically is a request for Elsa to sacrifice herself to save them
- Chris Buck who says the movie is a tribute to his son. What’s the better tribute of “she dies but comes back in SPIRIT -to rule the spirits-”
- Josh Gas tweeting he asked the writers to leave Olaf dead (and he could have had the option only if Elsa was dead at the end of the movie)
I mean, believe what you want. I believe this is the end they wanted, AMONG MANY, but they accepted another option since it was too scary for kids (and for Disney lol). Not because of the “proofs” I’ve listed, but because I trust the person who spoiled it on discord since I had time to chat with them in the last months.
AGAIN: She wasn’t going to stay dead forever so....? Whatever, I guess.

The Doug Walker disney sequels reveiws are autoplaying and its weird to see movies that were joked about looking ‘very cheap and bad” and they look better and animate better than everything besides 2 or 3 cartoons in the last 2 decades.

Mini Reveiw for each of the pirates of the Caribbean movies:
Curse of the Black Pearl: An absolute classic. Good mix of humor, action and horror elements. Geoffrey Rush plays Barbarossa as the perfect villain. About as close to a perfect movie as I can imagine.
Dead Man’s Chest: Almost as good as the first one. It just suffered from a lack of editing. There are some sequences that could have been much shorter, or even cut altogether(like the stuff with the native tribe). Other than that, its almost as great as black pearl.
At World End: This ones the real low point of the series tbh. It has some of the editing issues as DMC, and it spends way too much time focusing on the Brethren council/pirate king stuff, (and not nearly enough on Davy Jones and Calypso), and somehow it still feels under developed. Also, why the hell would they kill the kraken off screen? I’ll give credit that final battle sequences is pretty incredible though.
On Stranger Tides: i know this one has a bad reputation, but honestly, I liked it more than World End. Its more focused, and puts more emphasis on the adventure and fantasy, rather than on the politics of the pirate clans. Although that said, its probably best to think of it as a spin-off rather than a full blow sequel.
Dead Men Tell no Tales: Now this is an actual sequel. They WAY overplayed Jack’s bumbling idiocy in this one. But aside from that, its quite good. Not as great as the first two, but fun and worth watching

ok finally got round to watching the What We Do in the Shadows (Jermaine Clement) series after a long while of putting it off! So now I have my thoughts.
I tried watching it when it first came out but, as they had kept the name as the movie, I was expecting it to be a direct extension of it. Sure its in the same “cinematic universe” but the series was lacking in two things that I felt REALLY made the movie what it is, and that’s the original cast, and the New Zealand setting. It was my first New Zealand comedy i’d watched as far as I’m aware, and the small town vibe was something I found so funny. Now we’re in New York, which, as a non American, I feel like it adds nothing to the humour or world of the show. So that was a shame, but workable.
The original cast not being there really put me off though. There’s something about the “three guys in student housing, effectively, for eternity” so funny and I really missed them :, )
Also, my mum said she had caught an episode on tv, prior our family screening of the film, and said it was “revolting and sex obsessed” so it didnt inspire me to watch it either.
But my old friend and partner in media-geeking-out almost begged me to try again, so I did, and, as I predicted I DID get over the film and into the show, by about the 2nd series. So now, a way less un-biased reveiw:
Something I’m really enjoying from the show is the exploration of new paranormal monsters and concepts. The re animation episode was possibly my favourite in terms of funny spins on folklore, big fan of the witch doctor.
The second season definitely picks up in terms of plot, although it’s still fairly loose (not in a bad sense). Guillermo adds a touch of drama and I found myself getting way more invested in his secret than I thought. Also I think im in love with him. The end of series 2 got me anxiously checking season 3 release dates, and now I have a small, vampire shaped itch that’s going to last all of lockdown im sure.
The cast is pretty great too. Nadja is beautiful and makes me question everything, Matt Berry is obviously fantastic. I got far more attached to Colin Robinson than I ever anticipated. The ever flowing stream of cameos is so fun and feels so right for the humour of the show. (On that note, my housemate made me watch Blade last night, so there’s a couple more references I actually understand)
As for being ‘revolting and sex obsessed’, there’s absoloutley some points where it goes a lil too far for my liking, but some people might be into that. As one of my friends concluded; “It’s good but there’s a lot of semen stuff”
So yeah, im a fan now dw
