First tumblr post!!!! I’m obsessed with Kid Ritz and since he has 46 seconds of screen time (I counted) there’s absolutely no merch in existence not even a fucked up render of him in the art book so I took it into my own hands——

Tadaaaa needle felted Kid Ritz ‼️‼️‼️ I wanted to do one of the twins but dammit those mfs are skinny so I chose him instead cuz he’s built like a balloon 😩😩 he is faceless for now so just pretend he has a big toothy grin or something. I made the hat separate so you can see his poorly dyed roots and he’s like semi (???) pose-able so yeah that’s him.

I am also making the same sort of thing for a random background Rageon that I got really attached to so I’ll for sure post that when she’s done 🤙🤙 (this one 😌😌)

It’s so funny when people on TT are like “Oh Velvet and Veneer should’ve won”

Because when you really think about it, they kinda did.

Velvet desperately wanted to be famous (and Veneer wanted to make her happy) and in the song Mount Rageous she says “baby remember my name” several times, and the background vocals start chanting “remember” over and over, as if to cement this.

But like, Mount Rageons *are* gonna remember that scandal forever.

Because imagine if someone like Taylor Swift was outed as a fake during the Eras tour. People would NEVER stop talking about it. There’d be so many documentaries, video essays, articles, etc.

And ppl would STILL listen to her music, because that’s how stan culture works.

I’m not trying to pick on Swifties, I’m just using it as an example to show that Velvet and Veneer will be talked about by Mt. Rageons for decades to come.

This took me forever, but I am so happy to finally have the whole family in one picture! Click for better quality. For those interested, background on the family and more as really long ramble below!

Background of the family is Aramid is a Rageon who was gifted a troll when she was younger. Bergens would sell trolls to other large species, like Rageons, but each treats them as a source of happiness differently. For Rageons, who are very material, they are live in entertainment/living decorations.

Aramid is a bit odd though, seeing her troll, Coir, as a friend, who, being like 16 years older than her, basically becomes her guardian because her dad is never around and her mom is out of the picture. They spend years getting better treatment and personhood for trolls, which is successful and the whole reason Velvet and Veneer even can have trolls napping and troll torture as charges against them. After said incident though, Coir decides to spend sometime back among trolls, having thought the pop trolls were essentially wipes out besides the ones who were also sold like him when young.

He meets Persi (pronounced like Percy and short for Persimmon) while on a tour of pop village, Persi being a putt-putt troll from the Hole-n-Fun. They hit off and eventually have a few kids, who love their giant sister. Especially because said sister is one of the most famous fashion designers in Mount Rageous and is always sending them some of the best outfits she can for dress up and special events, as well comfy and cute ones for the day to day. Enough about the family though, here are some of my favorite parts of this family portrait

The daddy-daughter shots of this piece are everything to me. On the left is Persi with their middle daughter Sisal. Sisal’s favorite animal at the moment is monarch butterflies, because the orange makes her think of Persi and butterflies are just neat.

On the right is Coir with the youngest daughter, Clementine. She’s the shyest and always at Coir’s side. She loves dress up the most and is the one who suggested some kind of princesses and prince outfits for he pictures.

Last of the kiddos is Kevlar! He is the youngest (by half an hour, he and Clementine are technically twins) and only boy. He’s the wild child and always keeps his dads’ on their toes. He is the only one so far who has figured out how to roll up in a ball like the putt-putts can. The pearls in his hair were from an accessory for someone else that he broke. The pearls were because of him too. Sisal asked for butterflies and flowers, Clementine asked for crowns and royalty, Kevlar asked for…. Ocean. He was okay with pearls as the compromise item. He also jumped off Aramid’s shoulder the moment this picture was taken. He was fine.

I lastly just wanted to show Aramid’s necklace and the details of her dress. She and Coir always have matching gold necklaces (usually with their initials/names, but sometimes they switch us up). She gifted Persi different gold chain accessories to match theirs but also to match his style more and will eventually gift her siblings something to their styles when they’re older. I also just wanted to show the flowers and strands of pearls because they were fun to make and finding that brush was a life saver.

I will definitely be making a family picture with just the trolls so I can add even more details to their outfits! If anyone read this whole thing, I apologize for my ramblings, but appreciate you taking the time to do so. Would love to hear and thoughts or answer any questions! Take care!

Trolls Band Together Commentary Notes Part 2/4

- Commentary quote: "Mount Rageous - What is it? It's very expensive, that's what." - The Mount Rageous club where we first see V&V perform is shaped like a boom box so it seems like they're performing from inside one. - The scene where JD finds Floyd in the perfume bottle backstage was going to be the opening of the movie, and JD's design was a lot more Branch-like so the audience was going to think it was Branch at first. - One of the inspirations for the Mount Rageons' designs was Betty Boop. - Any time Crimp has accessories, they're office supplies -- a reference to her secretary/assistant role. Her ukelele is technically a shaped eraser. - "It was an era!" <- improv line from Justin Timberlake - The jungle around Vacay Island is designed with pool floaties, pool noodles and inflatable leaves, all things kids will instantly recognize as belonging to a pool or beach setting. They describe the Trolls world as a "DIY environment" (meaning the crafts and fabrics that are often used to make up the settings). - At one point the jungle was going to be all rope and macrame because that seemed like a texture you would associate with vines and rain forests, but the idea evolved into the vacation one instead. - There was a lot more of Poppy, Branch and JD trying to get through the jungle to get to the island resort which was cut because it was too long and dragging the scene. - At one point they were going to have Branch surprised by the sudden appearance of the head of the first Vacaytioner (the one on the rock climbing wall). He pulls out a slingshot to defend them but the rock bounces back and knocks out his tooth, after which he has a whistle when he breathes. - The animation team got to fill a kiddy pool behind the studio with water beads and threw in Trolls toys to see how they moved through it. (They also tried putting their faces in and as it turns out, you really can't breathe if you're under water beads, so Branch was right to be annoyed about Rhonda not being waterproof.) - The pools around the Vacay Island bar were designed because originally when the camera was focused on the Trolls, all you would see in the background were Vacaytioner feet walking by, which was boring. The pools allow us to see their faces and it was more interesting to see them swimming and lounging around. - During one of the early test screens, when Branch breaks out in "You're all I ever wanted" during the song, the test audience burst out into cheers, completely delighting the team. - Poppy's "I can't believe this is really happening!" scream during the dance was an Anna Kendrick improv line. - The cookies Bruce tosses to his kids are supposed to look like the foam circles you tie on your keys when you're driving a boat. - Commentary quote: "And the nachos are hard plastic. Don't eat them."

The silly shadowy critter in the background is apart of an AU, where all Mount Rageons have this silly critter form called a hydra, and Velvets hydra is so ridiculously large it's not even funny, and the large variants of hydras are called Dame hydras

Small fun fact:

After the third movie of 'Trolls: Band Together' I went on Netflix to rewatch the Cartoon Series of 'Trolls: The Beat Goes On' (used to watch it on TV, and love it), and to be honest I tried to make a Troll OC.

I believe her name was going to be Gale, but I'm not sure, she was a new Troll that joined the village and she was going to have a sort of alter-ego called "NightGale" (she was still in the brainstorm era). Due to her past experience of being used and having her kindness taken for granted she decided to "take back" what she gave. Helped a Troll with a craft project? Wrecked the next morning. Helped someone bake a nice Pie? Stolen during the night. No matter if the Troll was kind or not, she was stuck with a bad mindset that she's being taken for granted. (Sort of how Branch is constantly on Alert for danger)

The idea was that After Poppy, Branch and the rest of the gang discovered these strange incidents they went on an investigation to discover who's the culprit. Long story short, they catch Gale, and she practically confesses everything. Most of the Trolls were obviously upset at her, but Poppy being Poppy, she convinced everyone to give Gale a chance in trusting them, leading to eventually forgiving her.

I truly wanted to jump on the Trolls bandwagon, even if I really couldn't figure out creating a Rageons OC, but unfortunately her design was never made, The background story was never written, and eventually ended up ignoring the whole brainstorm altogether thinking she sounded lame and unoriginal.

I still love the Trolls fandom, I won't lie, but my inspiration has been on the Low setting for some time. Maybe one day I might get myself a new OC? (I won't guarantee it will happen)

He’s a good example of when judging a book by its cover can be true- He is loud, smelly, insane and sounds like a coin purse when he walks thanks to all his jewelry. Type of guy to shout something unintelligible across the street at you late at night but he’s really nice in his own fucked up way- he will steal from a shop just to give whatever it is to you if he likes you :) very easy to get along with. he works as a mechanic in Under Rageous, anything to do with cars- hes your guy He’s in the same friend group as TV Girl, he kinda ‘founded’ it along with Kid, him and Kid have been friends since they were like 8 but they don’t really see each other much anymore because Kid has to ‘maintain his image’ (basically his excuse for not coming down to the lower sketchy parts of the city to meet with his friends) and he’s too busy being a workaholic to be social with the poor peasants 🙄🙄 Boog has been to the teen prison like 6 times for petty shit, mostly theft and he may or may not have thrown a couple punches at some cops but like who doesn’t want to do that he was doing the city a favour it was only like once or twice. He met Veneer when they were both conveniently locked up at the same and totally harassed him because he grew a weird liking to V and thought his whole story with his sister was hysterical, ended up becoming pretty good friends despite how drastically different they are and he kind of showed Veneer the ropes and helped him get in contact with Velvet (they are separated by gender in prison 😔😔 very sad)

Idk what this is but it’s about Rageous!JD so take it

So, JD ends up losing his singing skills after living in the Neverglades and not singing for so long.

He first found this out when he went to Mount Rageous and was confident in his performance skills. (He was booed off the stage)

(Little snippet of lore: Mount Rageous has a small population of Trolls that have a smaller section that they live in. That’s how and where JD performs later.)

After that, he is HUMILIATED. Embarrassed. Everything in between. Then, after driving around the Mt. Rageon section for a while, he spots Velvet and Veneer. Performing horribly since their natural singing voices are crap.

Curious, after their performance, JD walks up to them. Velvet’s kind of a mix of crying and yelling at her brother, while Veneer is just kinda dejected that their singing voices are so terrible.

They spot him and immediately make a grab for it.

“Maybe if we somehow steal this thing’s talent..” Velvet mumbles to herself, knowing that Trolls have natural singing talent.

JD is obviously freaked out. So, in an effort to save himself, he blurts out:

“I- I lost my talent!” JD’s eyes are darting left and right in nervousness.

“…Yeah. Yeah! I lost my talent. So you shouldn’t steal mine if I don’t have any.” JD ends up going with that solution, smiling and nodding in fake confidence.

Velvet smirks.

“So.. little guy. If you don’t HAVE any talent, maybe you could lead us to some Trolls that do?”

Ohhh crap.

JD’s just gotten himself into a situation he can’t dig himself out of, hasn’t he?

Velvet is clutching JD in her fist, and her grip gets ever tighter every few seconds.

“Uh…. Haha…”

Wait a second!

What about Brozone?

He doesn’t know where any of them are, so he could just go on an EXTREMELY long search and end up running away when he has their trust!

“Oh! Uh. Brozone! I think I know a bit about their whereabouts.”

JD lies through his teeth.

“Brozone… I’ve heard of that boyband before. Wait a second, what was your name again?” Velvet inquires as if this conversation is the most casual thing in the world, letting JD rest on the palm of her hand now.

“Oh, uh, hi! The name’s John Dory.” He waves awkwardly.

“Are you KIDDING me? THE John Dory lost his talent?” Velvet seems more shocked than condescending, but there’s always that malicious tone to her voice that puts JD on edge.

With that comment, he nods his head sadly. “Yeah. I did. I can’t sing anymore.”

“Huh. So we’re both in the same situation.” Velvet’s expression momentarily softens, before her lips curl into a lax smile. She’s planning something.

“Say, little gu- er, John Dory..” Velvet uses her non-occupied left hand to fish through her bag for something.

“Care to share?” Velvet proposes, and pulls out a magenta perfume bottle.

“…Huh?” JD turns his head in confusion.

“I mean, since we’re in the same situation, it’s only fair for you to have a share of talent, right?”

Velvet raises her eyebrow, and Veneer is slack-jawed in the background at the fact Velvet is actually being slightly generous.

“Huh. Yeah, I guess.” JD nods.

Velvet smirks.

“Good.”
