gotta confess that i only like the first series for nostalgic reasons. in all honesty, canon Firestar was a pretty basic (predictable) protagonist

however, i don't think it's the nostalgia that's speaking when i say that their personalities were a lot more defined in cases like Yellowfang (despite how the authors butchered her character), Mousefur, and Darkstripe.

and in that series, StarClan was a lot more mysterious, and for good reasons! now they're ominous for plot purposes, not because we, the readers, are new to the Clans. (i find that this happens a lot, not just in WC. as a series drags on because it generates money, the audience becomes familiar with the world, and all the mystery and excitement dies down, so they create convoluted plotlines that simply don't make any sense, or are plain boring.)
