Eddie is a soft-dom, and Steve loves it. Don't get me wrong, Eddie knows how to be a stern, strict daddy too when Steve is being a bratty, or when he can tell Steve needs it. But he also knows when Steve needs a gentler dom. Like tonight, for instance. Steve had a nightmare a few nights ago that if he falls asleep, Vecna will come for Eddie. And even though it was just a nightmare, Steve hasn't let himself fall asleep for longer than a few minutes.

Now he is cranky and exhausted. He is paranoid, so much so that he almost jumped out of his skin when Eddie came up behind, him wrapping his arms around his waist.

"You scared me, Eds..." He says softly, as Eddie’s head rests on his shoulder from behind.

"Sorry, baby." He places a little kiss on Steve's cheek, making him smile. "How about we get to bed?"

Steve stiffens momentarily in his arms, before relaxing again. "I'm okay, it's only 8 o'clock."

Eddie takes a deep breath before letting out a sigh. He turns Steve around in his arms so he can look at him. "Baby, you haven't slept in days, and daddy’s worried about you." He stares into Steve’s pretty brown eyes ignoring the bags underneath.

Something shifts in Steve, the use of the word daddy always manages to do this. He looks away, whispering " I'm fine daddy, gotta make sure you're safe..."

"Oh sweetheart, I know, and you do such a good job protecting me." Eddie coos, as he reaches one of his hands to Steve's chin, forcing him to look back up. "But you gotta let me protect you, too, baby. And that means making sure you get enough sleep, Stevie."

"But Daddy..." Steve starts before being interrupted by a little, chaste kiss.

"No 'buts', baby. Please be a good boy for me, and come to bed with me. I promise to hold you all night long so you know I'm here, and safe." Eddie says uncharacteristically softly.

And all Steve can do is nod, suddenly letting the tiredness he had been suppressing take over. It's okay though because Eddie scoops him up in his arms, carrying him to bed. And he keeps his promise, letting Steve fall asleep on his chest, while he strokes his hair, Eddie falling asleep soon after.
