I'm sorry, what.
...what the fuck do you mean he doesn't deserve to be charged?
He gunned down a man in cold blood in the street.
You have lost the plot if you're trying to make this man a hero. No one gets to have a little murder as a treat.
No one needs to shed one tear for a murdered CEO, but don't pretend like the act itself isn't deplorable.
Please do highlight how fucked up and greedy UHC is, please do continue to circulate and promote the injustice they've caused. Please do continue to highlight how America's private health care system is utter garbage.
-but if you're justifying murder? You're not on the good side. That man didn't kill that CEO for a GLORIOUS REVOLUTION. He killed him for attention and he did it effortlessly because we live in a nation seeped in gun violence.
well, they found him. and unfortunately, he’s a bit weird. posted a bunch of stuff on X. politically extremely hard to pin down. i just want to remind you all—standing united against megacorporations should not be, and does not need to be, a political position. we can disagree with the suspect on other issues and still believe he doesn’t deserve to be charged. let’s demonstrate that this issue transcends other political squabbles
say it with me, everyone: “I’m not interested in engaging with the Culture War. I’m interested in engaging in the Class War. We can argue about that other, petty stuff once multi-billion dollar companies aren’t allowed to kill people indiscriminately under the law anymore.”
#nuance is dead#jfc#guess I'm engaging in the FUCKING STUPID CULTURE WAR OF 'murder is cool and good when it's people I don't like' :^)#this is the sort of shit that excuses killing minorities#AND OF COURSE HE'S WEIRD#HE DECIDED MURDER WAS THE ANSWER#“hm I think I will kill someone” is not the normal thought process for humans#we're social altruistic creatures at our core#do fucking better#haha funney meme is one thing but-#“LET THE MURDERER OFF CAUSE HE KILLED SOMEONE I HATED” ??#do you not hear how fucked up that is????#in a nation drowning in gun violence no less?????#like hey him vanishing into the ether and never being caught would make CEOs uneasy and I would have had a chuckle#but this man went to mcdonalds with his manifesto and gun waiting to be caught cause he wanted ATTENTION#I keep seeing stupid fucking posts on my dash but that ONE line about HIM NOT GETTING CHARGED#stuck in my craw#I guess I shouldn't be surprised#because tumblr is full of kids who clamor for blood#I feel like kids need to be forced to read The Hunger Games#to absorb why The Capital AND Coin are bad actually#baby's first revolution#stepping on a hornet's nest here#gonna regret this later probably#us politics#uhc shooting

[After the arrest of Danton and Desmoulins] Lucile ran to Madame Danton to suggest that she come with her to go find Robespierre, ask him for an explanation, and recall the feelings of friendship which had attached him to their husbands. Madame Danton refused, saying that she wanted nothing from a man who had showed himself to be the enemy of her husband. (I obtained this particularity from Madame Danton herself, who was then pregnant. She gave birth fifteen days after Danton's death, but her child did not live.)
Histoire de la Révolution française (1850) by Nicolas Villiaumé, volume 4, page 55. This ties in well with the following anecdote that was first reported by Marcellin Matton (who presumably obtained it from Lucile’s mother Annette Duplessis) in his republished edition of Le Vieux Cordelier (1834):
Camille, the day after his arrest, wrote a letter to his wife to console her. One of Camille’s friends took it to Lucile: she read it while sobbing, and as he tried to console her: “It's useless,” she said, “I cry like a woman, because Camille. suffers, because without doubt they let him lack everything; because he does not see us.... But I will have the courage of a man, I will save him.... What to do? which of his judges must I supplicate? Which one should I attack openly? Would you like to take me to Philippeaux?” ”He has also been arrested, no doubt.” ”So the homeland no longer has defenders.... I am going to see Danton....” ”The same decree unites him to your husband.” ”Why have they left me free? Do they think that since I’m only a woman I won’t dare to raise my voice? Have they counted on my silence? I’m going to the Jacobins… I’m going to Robespierre’s house…” Madame Duplessis and Camille's friend restrained her and urged her not to take any inconsiderate steps that could lose her and her husband as well; finally she agreed to remain quiet; but she wanted to write to Robespierre to ask him to save her husband, the letter remained unfinished and was never sent.

'Purple Rain' Movie and 4K Review
The following review was written by Ultimate Rabbit correspondent, Tony Farinella. When it comes to Prince’s music, I’m a fan, but I wouldn’t say I listen to his albums religiously. I respect his contributions to the music industry, and I can certainly appreciate and admire the amount of effort and passion that goes into his performances. He gives it his all when he’s on stage. Because of…

every time i find myself getting indignant at someone saying shit like "kids these days are stupid and don't know anything about movies made before they were born" i have to remind myself that i am routinely surprised by movies made in the late 60s being in color
#this has happened three times that i can remember#legitimately thought rosemary's baby was in black and white right up until i watched it for the first time. no idea why#(i got it from my college library dw i'd never spend money on anything by that director as long as he's still alive)#also was surprised that wait until dark (1967) was in color. i just thought it wouldn't be.#and recently i decided to watch all the best picture nominees from 1967 because i was rereading pictures at a revolution#(except for doctor dolittle i don't think i needed to watch that)#and maybe it's because the photos in the book were all in black and white but i was surprised Again when i got to the last one#which was guess who's coming to dinner (the one i was least familiar with beforehand)#and it was in color.#i blame night of the living dead for making me think this way even though i knew full well there were plenty of color films pre-1970#it was literally just budgetary reasons. also psycho being in black and white made me think that was the default for longer than it was#however i was less surprised by the earlier hitchcock films i watched being in color even though they went as far back as 1948#so idk why i had that expectation for only certain movies

on hwang in-ho/front man, seong gi-hun and their dynamic.
first, idk why people are getting so upset at other people calling gi-hun dumb, we were told that in the first season. lol being bright is not his strongest trait but he has a good heart and we love that about him. however, he is still an idealistic gullible idiot with a gambling problem. except this time his gambling addiction is backed by a sense of justice and righteousness and he no longer gambles with money, he’s gambling with people’s lives. front man asked a good question at the end of the season, “did you have fun playing the hero?” can we even call gi-hun the hero of the story anymore? he gambled with people’s lives and front man showed him the consequences of his moral heroics.
front man only agreed to help gi-hun with his revolution when he mentioned about "small sacrifices for the greater good". i think he reveled in the fact that the “good guy” was willing to allow a few innocent people to die for the greater good to stop the games, which is exactly what the entire VIP theory is to rid the world of 'trash' to improve the world. notice how gi-hun's moral code and belief also changed, from being "nobody should die" into "yeah small sacrifice is okay as long it's for the greater good" at this point, he just proved that front man's belief is actually valid. AND he gets more of his own people killed in the pointless battle with the soldiers that they had no chance of winning. now he gets to feel responsible for all those deaths and the death of his friend and for whatever additional torture they cook up in the next games (as punishment for the escape attempt).
now on hwang in-ho, i believe he was once a good man and the story he told gi-hun was the truth. but in the end he lost a kidney, lost a wife, a baby, lost his money, got fucked over by the wrong people and got into serious debt and had to play this game to help his wife and probably it was too late to save her. he might have played the games like gi-hun but saw how ruthless and greedy people are and resolved that they don't deserve help
i don’t think in-ho wants/will kill gi-hun, but he wants him to understand things from his perspective and show him that his compassion for the people in the games is foolish. you can tell the frontmen (the old man and in-ho) are extremely fond of gi hun. not only did he protect their original front man when nobody else did, he then won the games and thus their respect as he is now as rich as them. he's no longer "trash", he’s an elite like them. i think they both actually kept tabs on him after he won (i wonder if they do that for all winners? inserting them with gps chips?) because they knew he had not used his reward money and in-ho wanted gi-hun to get on the plane and be happy with his daughter
there’s one interesting aspect of the games that makes front man such a complex character. the fact that they’re operating a organ transplant trafficking network. in a way, he’s creating some good to come from a really fucked up situation. but is it really for the good of others who desperately need it, people like his wife, like his brother? or is it just a money making scheme?
either way, i don’t think there is going to be a redemption arc for in-ho, he’s too far gone. we may get to see more of his human side if he manages to see jun-ho again. the only time we’ve seen genuine emotions from him was when he shot his brother like he seemed distraught
the real cliffhanger for me, is will gi-hun stay true to his belief that people can be good, or will he be forever changed into a villain and become the next front man…? after the events of this season i don’t see how his will doesn’t shatter. he’s witnessed how humanity consistently chose money over survival, he’s lost two close friends, his mother, abandoned his daughter. he has gained nothing from wanting to stop the games and this clearly feels like an origin story for the next front man. it’s clear the front man has won this round and i think squid game will either die with 001 or continue with gi-hun as game master
another thing i find funny that i don’t see many mention is how gi-hun is like the luckiest guy in the fucking world. but i don’t think him being alive this long is plot armor, it makes sense. the games exist for the entertainment of rich sadists who have so much money they don't know what to do with it (remember what old 001 said in s1 about life being no fun for both people with no money and people with too much money). and i’d imagine killing hundreds of poor debt-ridden fools year after year gets boring. especially when said fools are desperate enough to gamble with their lives because they think they can beat the system by playing better than everyone else and surviving and getting the money.
gihun is different because he got the money, got out, and still came back. not because he's unfeeling or because he wants more money, but because he's still convinced he can beat the system.
if you're a rich bored gazillionaire, would you rather watch some randos die or would you rather watch this exceptional idiot fail again and again until he learns that his ideals are meaningless and people are inherently greedy and equality is a myth and people at the bottom of the barrel don't get to question the system?
if you're an asshole gazillionaire, you don't want someone to challenge you and just get away with it. you want to hand them 45.6 billion won and make them go away quietly, traumatized, after breaking them psychologically by making them do horrible things until they understand they're just powerless "horses". if they insist on challenging you and your system and your beliefs (money = boundless power), you teach them a lesson and show them their place in the most manipulative and cruel way possible. if gihun dies right away, that's boring. so he can't die, he needs to suffer. he needs to concede defeat.
also, i find it funny how people are comparing hwang inho and gihun dynamic to hannibal and will graham. makes sense, their whole cat and mouse game, front man hiding his true nature from gi-hun the same way hannibal does, trying to corrupt the righteous protagonist, sowing chaos, testing him and observing his behavior like a lab rat, the crazy tension and staring contests, the gaslighting and manipulation. and with the fact that they think lee byung-hun looks like mads mikkelsen. i never put the two of them together but now i can’t unsee it lol
#this got long sorry#thanks for attending my ted talk#the message is still clear: eat the rich#kdrama#squid game 2#squid game#ginho#gihun x inho#001 x 456#457#frontman#hwang in ho#seong gi hun#lee byung hun#mads mikkelsen#hannibal#will graham#hannigram#lee jung jae#meta

The first real conversation Katniss has with Peeta is when he tells her that he wants to die as himself, that he doesn't want the games to change him into something he's not, and that he wants to keep his identity and prove he's more than just a piece in their games because that's the only thing he has left to care about.
The first time we see Lucy Gray she sings a song that basically says that nothing they could take from her was worth keeping. "Can't take my past. Can't take my history... You can't take my charm. You can't take my health."
The capitol has taken everything from them both, but at the same time, they could never take away who they are.
They are both likeable charismatic and funny, with the kindest hearts, and incredibly loyal to the people they care about.
At the same time, everything they do before the games, and during is calculated. Lucy Gray singing a love song and winning the hearts of the capitol. Peeta confesses he's in love with his district partner, therefore cementing her identity as desirable. Both of them know how to sway people with words, how to charm people, and how to manipulate crowds. Neither of them has any problem doing so to keep themselves, and the people they love safe.
Lucy Gray's song The Old Therebefore, about learning how to love and live her life to the fullest before death, a final and calculated stroke in a last-ditch effort to save herself from the arena. This evokes enough emotion in the watchers to get them to rise to their feet and plead for her life alongside Snow.
Snow, watching the 74th and preparing for the 75th Hunger Games sees Lucy Gray in Katniss. A young girl, from the 12th district. Unafraid at the reaping. Selling a false love story, manipulating a boy who loves her in order to get out and supporting the revolution with the mockingjay as her symbol.
He threatens her family to get her to sell that she and Peeta are in love, to prevent the revolution, because obviously, she's pretending. He's had experience with a girl just like her before. He has no doubt that she has the acting ability to sell this story because clearly, she manipulated the first Hunger Games in her favor, the same way Lucy Gray manipulated him.
Watching the interviews for the 75th Hunger Games he realizes-
Katniss is just an impulsive girl, in a Mockingjay dress she didn't know about, made by someone who supports the revolution.
Peeta is a boy who has the ability to move people with just his words. He made Katniss desirable, he was the one who sold the love story, and he was the one to make their romance seem real. Katniss only started the revolution because she would rather risk dying with him than live without him. A concept President Snow was completely unfamiliar with. And it is with all these realizations crashing around him Peeta drops the baby bomb. He knows the baby's not real, and so does Snow. But it evokes enough emotion in the watchers to get them to rise to their feet and plead for the lives of the tributes.
Is it Lucy Gray or Peeta?
By the time Snow realizes he's made a mistake, it's too late.
Peeta is still charming and manipulating the capitol. Katniss is in love.
He goes up against a kindhearted boy expecting to beat Sejanus again, only to find out that it's Lucy Gray he's fighting; knowing he will never be able to escape their ghosts.
-from a conversation i had with @grandtyphoonpoetry breaking down every character in the hunger games.
#I have so many thoughts about this#they are so powerful with their words#i will never get over how many different kinds of power fueled this revolution#everything came full circle#peeta mellark#lucy gray baird#katniss everdeen#coriolanus snow#president snow#the hunger games#hunger games#the ballad of songbirds and snakes#ballad of songbirds and snakes

sorry if you have answered a question like this before, but what do you think of critiques from liberals/other leftists whether they be calling themselves socialist, communist, or anarchist, on the "disastrous/genocidal" effect of a "glorious revolution" on populations like children, the elderly, and the disabled? would any revolutionary action necessitate destruction of infrastructure? what kind of conversations are being had among communists about protecting these vulnerable populations? i see a lot of stuff about not wanting to watch kids die in hospitals just for a power vacuum that could go the wrong way and stuff like that and i agree with wanting to protect these populations especially, but something about the conversation in general seems off to me, since kids are already dying all over the world because of the lack of access to healthcare because of things like usimperialism or the insane costs even for people living in the us and the supply chain is already showing many cracks because of climate change and capitalism, with no global "violent revolution" to speak of. am i missing something crucial here? what can i say to my fellow disabled friends who have these concerns, partially born from dealing with ableism in leftist spaces? -- thank you, a baby communist
i mean first of all yes, it is disingenuous to pretend that the most vulnerable people are not dying constantly under capitalism. secondly, revolutions do not usually involve blowing up hospitals and care homes for no reason.
but most crucially of all this entire argument relies on a childish view of revolution inspired by the most tedious reactionary propaganda--an understanding gained from shen yun and anastasia. communist revolutions (like any revolution!) don't happen in times of unremarkable peace and prosperity--they necessarily happen in times of mass discontent and instability, because that's when large segments of the population become radicalised!
genuinely, the best antidote to all these silly liberal ideas about revolution is to read about the history of real revolutions, socialist or otherwise. actual historical knowledge trumps mind palace hystericizing every time. i recommend walter rodney's the russian revolution: a view from the third world.
