The trend created by her comedically gifted boyfriend was spreading and fast. Pretty soon, he was creating more videos about it. Joseph was eager to show Y/n the feedback on his video with cardboard Ben. An idea sparked in both their minds after rewatching it, and the next few weeks, they followed through with it.

He’d taught her as much as he could before they choregraphed it together. Her heart swelled as Joe explained what would happen, like he was back on a set, directing a film. The man was just as good of a director as he was an actor, both hilarious as well. It’d been some time since the last video was released, but he knew his fans would get the reference.

“Ready?” He checked in with her, an eager smile upon his lips.

“As I’ll ever be. You?”

“Yep!”

The video timer started counting down, giving Joe and Y/n time to run back to the door. The music and video started, and their dance began. It was going well until, just as they timed, Ben fell into frame before they could finish. The music cut as cardboard Ben was suddenly picked up by Joe, a mild furry in his eyes.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!”

No response came from the figure. Y/n tried her best to fight the smile that threatened to sneak onto her lips. It was hard to refrain from cracking into laughter as Joe yelled at an inanimate object, but she somehow surprised the urge.

“I get that you’re jealous but you had your turn. AND YOU MESSED IT UP! BOTH YOUR TIME WITH ME AND THE FUCKING TURN!” He yelled at the cardboard cutout. It felt so real, Y/n almost felt bad for the cardboard Ben.

A dramatic fight between the bromance of a human and a cutout of his friend. The perfect love story. So perfect, even Y/n could agree it was better than Bella and Edward’s. Lifting her hand to wipe away an imaginary tear at the thought, she returned her attention to her boyfriend and his prop. She didn’t know what he was planning on having Ben say next, but by the look on his face, it wasn’t good things.

“You take that back, Ben.” Joe gasped dramatically, a hand coming to his chest to emphasize his reaction. “No she is not! Don’t you dare say that about her!”

“What’d he say?”

Joe turned, a sad expression cloaking his features. “Well...” Another gasp left his lips and sent him spinning back around. “Shut up. Don’t listen to him, Y/n. He doesn’t- No! He doesn’t mean it.”

“I knew I shouldn’t have done this. I’m sorry, Joe. Maybe the BAB dance isn’t for me.” Y/n mumbled quietly, her eyes softened and avoided Joe’s. Slowly, she began to walk away.

Behind her, still in view of the camera, Joe’s head turned to the Ben in his hands. He acted like it was telling him something, occasionally moving his view to Y/n. “Are you sure?” Both the cutout and Joe faced Y/n, Joe’s ear closer to the face of the cardboard. “No, I’m not a dumbass. No- ...I deserved that.”

She sat down against the wall and rested her forehead on her knees. Although the scene was meant to be sad, she felt rather relaxed. Like she could fall asleep right there; if Joe’s scene lasted too long, she was sure she would.

“You’re right. Thank you, Ben!” He exclaimed in a hushed voice. Setting Ben down, he walked over to Y/n, kneeling and helping her up.

“I thought you and Ben were doing it instead?”

“No. He told me to make the right choice.”

“And? What was the choice?” Joe picked her up and spun her around, the music resuming, and finished the dance. The video ended right there, but it still picked at Y/n. “I get that it was the joke, but really, what was the choice?”

His face scrunched in thought before he shrugged. “Either get the girl or get the turn, whatever sounds better.”

I believe the bab dance is a little dance that joe and gwil did on the live aid set! It’s on their instagrams it’s really cute! And then joe has been challenging fans to recreate it with #BABdance
