Day 222: Deer Burgers!!! Saturday, May 14, 2016 Today we took Silas to the state farmer’s market and got some lavender and fruits and vegetables and bacon and sweet peas at the Nahunta pork outlet. They’ve got a bakery called #Annelore's that’s there only on weekends and they have these scrumptious vegetable phyllo pastries but they sell so fast so you have to be there within the first hour or two after it opens. Anyway, there’s Silas at the herb place where we found the lavender and patchouli and curry plant. We were having trouble getting him to look at the camera. Also, he’s “discovering his voice” and so he’s been screaming at the top of his lungs much of the time whether we’re in the car, out in public, at home… 🙄😁 Before Brett went to work, he helped me cook the venison burgers. I pretty much followed this recipe http://www.babaganosh.org/venison-burgers/ (except we made our own breadcrumbs), and they came out tasty. In the past, I’ve only had venison burgers mixed with regular beef because I had been taught that that’s what kept them from falling apart, but mixing the egg and bread in helped bind the meat together. Evidently I shape patties well because Brett said it looked like a machine had done it, so that's nice. #photosoftheday #collage #366days #366project #366challenge #generationz #babysilas #igen #eatfresh #venisonburger #venison #ncstatefarmersmarket #ncfarmersmarket #dailyphoto #dailyjournal #babylife #photooftheday #generationz #shoplocal #shoplocalraleigh #raleighphotographer #wafflefries #babaganoshblog #babaganosh (at North Carolina State Farmers Market)

Baba Ghanoush !
Anyone love this stuff as much as I do!?! I must admit I prefer it over hummus. I use it as a dip, top it over salads and eat it straight out of the bowl with a spoon. I was gifted this beautiful Sicilian Eggplant plant as a seedling this spring and it has been producing more than I can keep up with lately! This recipe is a total winner. I hope you enjoy.
