it's a lot of things i wish i knew as my first year LOL. i guess one thing that is probably super basic, don’t procrastinate. just get your stuff done so you don’t have to worry about it later ☝️ it’s easier said than done, but trust you’ll feel a lot better once you finish your assignments / projects early n on time !!! also, staying up late while working on stuff — don’t do that. it’s not good for you, and i always did that eheh. waiting ‘till the last minute of 11:59 to finish essays nuh uh. do your stuff as soon as it get assigned, DONT PROCRASTINATE 🫵 also, go to all your orientations. do nawt skip them

sleeeeeep. you need lots of sleep, regardless of what year you’re in it’s very important. i wish i knew that as a freshman 😀😀😀. i would stay up all night doin work, especially on the weekends. certified loser nerd. also, set an alarm !!!! if you’re a heavy sleeper like me, set a fuck ton of them !!!! or uh… have someone wake you up. i used to oversleep a lot, a way to prevent this is to usually go to sleep earlier than you usually do ( from my experience )

if you’re on campus, have some sort of map / guide so you know where you’re going !!!!! on my first day i literally got lost right away and i barely knew much english so it was even more embarrassing LOL. beeeee prepared !!!! ☝️ do research on ur school, they should provide those things — also, try to get those things ahead of time before your courses start so you aren’t askin random ppl where one of your rooms are. of course, its okay to still get lost anyway. it happens. ask for help if needed but make sure you’re prepared !!!

you don’t necessarily need friends to “survive” in college. everyone’s experience is different, but i found my experience easier by just keepin my circle small 🫂. IM NOT SAYING TO BE A LONER, you can have / make friends throughout your years ofc !!! in college, you’ll meet the best and worst people of your life. your main priorities should be yourself and your studies — but you come first at the end of the day. friends will always come & go, but eventually you’ll stumble across some nice ppl who share the same interests as you !!!

there’s prob super more important details but for the last thing i’ll say this— don’t let your grades define you 💓. it sucks majorly to get bad marks on something, especially if you stayed up countless hours on it, givin it your all. i personally have / had a habit of doing that, but never let it define you. if you truly think you didn’t get the right grade for any number of reasons, you can always talk to your prof about it in private. but don’t stress ab it !!! always remember you matter first over some exam 🫵

we all know bss always eat up when it comes to comebacks, but i think teleparty is just on another level.

the pandemic took some good years of all of us. it took me the last two years before high school and after that i had to listen to my friends talk about how great the last year before high school was for three years when all i did that year was stay at home and use kpop as some kind of way to run away from my bad thoughts. i felt like i lost an important part of my life everytime they brought up that year.

i also always have been the type of person who has as a priority studies and i dont necessarily think its a bad thing, but it becomes a bad thing if you only live for it and that was exactly what i did for years. it was awful, i used to get so stressed to the point of having sore muscles, lots of nightmares and pimples. fortunately, now i know how to take breaks and i know i deserve some rest as well. but deep down im always scared of becoming that type of person again.

even tho im still young, i cant help but think that im not enjoying my youth, that im not living enough like an average 18 years old person lives and thats when bss comes in. the way they talk about youth in such a positive way is so comforting for me!! i love things that i know itll make me feel alive and remind me that im still young and i have so many years ahead and they never fail to give me that feeling and reminder.

i think prime time is for the ones whos stuck in their own bubble and feel bad about it, feel like theyre wasting their precious time that will never go back. the song gave me the feeling that doesn’t matter youre age, youre still allowed to enjoy your life, to enjoy your youth doesnt matter how.

“You made it through the day. You can relax now.”

“No, I can’t. Seungkwan invited us both to a party, remember? We have…” You checked your phone for the time, groaning when you saw it, “30 minutes before we have to be in the car. It’s a 20 minute drive.”

“Babe.” Vernon muttered, pulling you to his chest, pressing a short kiss to your temple, “There’s absolutely no way I would choose going to a party over taking care of my girlfriend.”

“You RSVP’d, though.” You whispered.

“Yeah? And you’re in pain. So, no way.” He kissed your nose and stood up, making his way to different parts of the house to get all the things he needed to properly take care of you. 

Vernon had learned a lot of new things about himself when he started dating you. First of which was that he liked taking care of you. He liked giving, and he liked seeing you receive the love you deserved. He never hesitated to take the best care of you only because he enjoyed it.

He had never thought of himself as a selfless person, but before you, he never had a person to give himself to. He never thought he would get into a relationship before he met you. Dating was far from his top priority, and he had never experienced what it felt like to be in love. But as soon as he met you, he had fallen so hard. He loved every little thing about you. 

To him, you were perfect. 

He now understood why humans obsessed over love, why they spent their entire lives seeking it out and cherishing it. Every second he spent with you was timeless, and he had learned to cherish every day he got to spend with you.

Those included the bad days, like today. On bad days, Vernon was determined to do everything in his power to make your day just a little better.

He was back by your side quickly, placing a box of things on the coffee table and crouching down to be at eye level with you. He held out his arms and you gave him a confused look.

You shrinked at the feeling of another painful cramp spiking and Vernon frowned. He adjusted the pillows, making sure they were fluffed to your liking and comfortable enough. 

“Y/n, rate your pain on a scale of 1 to 10.” He instructed, tone completely serious.

“Is this really necessary?” You questioned as Vernon handed you a warm heating pad to place over your stomach.

“Just do it, babe.”

You really had everything you could have asked for. Snuggled cozily under the covers with a heat pad, a cup of tea and chocolate bar, one of those slice-of-life smalltown k-dramas playing in the background, and most importantly, your boyfriend to cuddle with.

“You’re setting the standard too high, you know?” You mumbled into Vernon’s chest, feeling drowsier by the second. You had been lying there with him for over an hour, content to just breathe in the scent of his cologne on his hoodie and relax until you finally got tired enough to sleep. “If we ever break up, my next partner won’t even be able to compare to you.”

“Good thing we’re not breaking up then.” He replied, pausing his scrolling on his phone to glance down at you when you didn’t say anything. Vernon observed that you were already half-asleep by your deepened breath, and he laughed softly at the thought that you probably didn’t hear what he said. He quietly turned off the k-drama and pressed a kiss to the top of your head— more than willing to let you sleep curled up next to him for however long you needed.

What to expect: I'm probably going to queue up some of the art I've done over my break from here when I feel like it and repost old pieces I still wanna have here. What's been going on: ... ☝️ My mental health and relationship with my work has admittedly not been the best the last several months, despite how good I am at being in denial! But I feel like I'm getting my spark back because I had some very big breakthroughs recently. I even finished some music yesterday, and music's still been hard for me lately (though in the case of music it's just composer's block now). I've been through a lot of drafts of Sableheart's prologue and felt a little discouraged over that too, but I finally came at it from the perfect angle recently after taking a break from writing to focus on myself more for a little bit. I actually ironed out the parts of the script that I was having the hardest time writing. For the first time in a while I'm feeling a little good about my work again.

I'm still not exactly sure what happened, my self-esteem just suddenly got very bad, probably the worst it's been, and stuck around a lot longer than I ever expected it to. It's actually been going on since around the end of last year/beginning of this one. It's still lingering just a tad, but I've made enough progress to get my footing back. I'm up and running again

qsmp was made for the purpose of becoming big and popular. the dsmp was not - and it was never meant to be as big as it was. dream made that server so he and his friends can hang out in minecraft

unlike quackity, dream never had a whole team to help him run the server. he didn’t have a bunch of mods, he didn’t have fans sign up to promote the server for him, he only had himself and callahan. dream didn’t have a team for content at all period. no editor no thumbnail artist - it was all himself. he was editing his and the dream team’s videos up until last year.

also unlike quackity with the qsmp, the dsmp was NEVER dream’s number one priority. he had manhunt, other youtube videos, the dream team’s videos (to conceptualize, code, and edit, mind you.), a merch company to run, george’s visa application, music, mcc, etc.

the dsmp failed for the same reason usmp never got to start: harassment and hate from other ccs’ communities. need i remind you of the “drop dream” and “boycott dsmp” hashtags? the threats to him, his friends, and his family? dream himself said it’s the biggest reason why. the people faulting him for ending the dsmp are the same people who pushed him to do so.

another reason dsmp failed is because of loreheads and freak stans who would cry and whine about every single artifact and mob on that server - further demotivating old and new members to play

most members of the dsmp also had other content to prioritize, such as irl content. dream is not the sole cause of everything that happened on the dsmp. (it’s also just funny how back in 2021, lore got pushed back so hard cause lockdown was being lifted and dream did not complain a single time. but once dream had face revealed, got 10 times busier, had been traveling, had internet issues at home, and had JUST MET his best friend of 7 years for the first time, people [ccs and fans alike] suddenly wanna cry about lack of communication 🤷‍♀️)

dream actually does know how to manage a server, despite *certain* people’s negative biases. he was involved in a lot of the lore writing, especially with wilbur and tommy (another instance: he agreed to be involved in ranboo’s lore out of the blue, even while he was doing his main arc with tommy - and if you were actually there, you’d remember it went really well). he used to hold meetings with other members to discuss lore. it has been mentioned before that dream would hold open forums and discuss terms of the server which had always ended in agreement. he also set specific and fair rules - which i’m sure everyone forgot about - and was unbiased about it (ex. punishing george for tping to where he died to get his stuff despite being his best friend). he also catered to other members’ needs (coding ranboo’s enderman powers, giving hannah her elytra back after it was stolen and destroyed, giving foolish his immortal powers). there’s so much more to say here but you get the gist: dream is a natural born leader and it showed while he was running the dsmp

dream actually already had prior experience when it came to running servers. he was literally the co-owner and a developer of munchymc. if you read that reddit comment from velvet complimenting dream on how well he handled issues in munchy, then ikyk

you can insult dream about a lot of things (i'm lying, you can't actually), but to diminish his work ethic and skill in general is what pisses me off the most - cause i have never seen a public figure this dedicated to his job no matter what hurdles are thrown at him. he has done almost everything by himself with minimal help - and did so with grace. he’s never complained about being swamped with work, is always open to *constructive* criticism, and most importantly of all, he has never, ever, shit on someone else to earn his spot on the top.

it’s the type of bad writing that is among the biggest bart crimes out there no joke like, no disrespect to Wally the guy has his own thing going on and it works for him but the whole thing that i’ve always found important to bart is that whilst they share similarities he is largely different from the three generations of Flash’s before him, like significantly and has his own thing going on with his own path and these differences are his strengths and what give him his own set of personal values and priorities (like what u mentioned with how he feels about getting attention) Sure, within his family he always had the pressure of following in all the other flash’s footsteps but that’s never stopped him to do his own thing.

The moment ppl treat him like wally jr (which is so crazy how recurring it has been in recent works, like WFA?? YJDC??) the series becomes garbage to me 😂 doesn’t mean there arnt parts of it i don’t enjoy like stuff regarding other characters or plot, but in terms of how it fares as a bart story i drop it like a hot potato lol and that also roughly summarises how my experience with his titans run is and a lot of his 00s issues onwards which is a shame and with how big social media is with fans, it’s ridiculous how it’s still happening today, like come on…

There are three generations of white guys before him, all great guys in their own way, all very similar especially in their values as heroes, it’s almost appallingly ridiculous to then treat him like another copy and paste when it’s a fact for literally any family out there that with each generation more differences arise that reflect the social consciousness, writing bart with the same values of guys who are essentially his grandparents/parents/uncles is absurd. It would make sense if they were a consistent role in his life since birth but they weren’t/aren’t, he also has a drastically different background to them too which just compounds to how dumb it is to write him as wally 2.0.

anyway, moment of self promo i kinda very superficially/roughly explore this whole thing of generational legacies in an upcoming chapter (it’s still in the drafts stage btw but it’s WIP which is smn lol) of my latest fic AAIT/it’s a lowkey underlying theme in it already. I knw ppl in DC social media have their mixed feelings regarding YJA but as a bart fan it’s a refreshing piece of media in how they treat him especially with how he ties in to the bigger picture of things, so I enjoy it and think about it a lot.

Also why despite peoples common grievances with Bendis’ YJ, i also enjoyed it a lot. Sure I get some of the criticism where they say it regressed some characters in a way, but I always felt like it was a very much needed soft reset of things that lent room to a lot of potential for all these characters to develop and grow in a fresh new way. The expansive cast of characters was also a good direction of comics YJ too that i think was needed. So YJ 19, I see u !!! lol and YJDC ur just the worst thing ever lol sorry !!

Second in Command of the Decepticons, backstabs Megatron at every opportunity he gets but always crawls back to him whenever he's in a tight spot. Loyal to no one but himself (until season 3 ehm) Anyway what I wanna yap about is from starscream's lil arc in season 2. Screamer, quite literally, had so many opportunities where he could "join" the autobots? He was a rogue, he left the decepticons. He was on his own. Starving and almost always in need of medical help. (Exaggerating, but he did get himself into... A.lot of situations let's say) AND WHEN HE GOT INJURED?? WHO DID HE CALL FOR HELP?? Not the decepticons oh nonono. (Megs would probably pound him into a pancake, but if we ignore bucket head. I think knock out wouldn't be too against patching starscream back up? They get along quite well when it comes to decepticon comradely standards) he called th3 AUTOBOTS because his faction's sworn enemy (not really since at the time he wasn't a part of any faction, keep in mind) was more likely to provide him with thr help he needed than his own which he's been in the co-leading position of for millennia (???) totally doesn't have to do with the constant beatings from megatron for the smallest of things oh no no no definitely not nope this 'con definitely cannot fit any trauma in himself naaaah

Anywho when the autobots do come to his aid (he always sent a message with like, "have important info. Bring medkit." Or something along those lines) they're never willing to help him unless he proves to be useful to them via the information he provides. Which honestly sits so wrong with me since Ratchet is a trained experienced field medic and surely seeing a fellow cybertronian in need of repairs would take some priority over petty grudges concerning alliances? Idk that just always angered me whenever EVEN THO STARSCREAM IS CLEARLY BLEEDING ENERGON ALL OVER THE PLACE AND CAN'T SO MUCH AS MOVE WITHOUT JOSTLING HIS INJURIES, Ratchet would rather turn around and leave him to deactivate...... That actually presents a very nice plot point, starscream enters stasis due to how low on energon he is (he's starving and scavenging for scraps in abandoned mines) and the Bots take him to their base for a transfusion snd repairs, plus some interrogation and insider deceoticon intelligence☝️I MEAN PLEASE

There was also this one time where Starscream saved Arcee from Airachnid when he really didn't, have a reason to. And he just, he leaves, he doesn't do anything to her, he just skiddadles out of there 😭 AND ARCEE NEVER BRINGS IT UP TO ANYONE LIKE HUHHHHH???????? PLEASE THAT COULD'VE BEEN SO GOOOOOD

December is always a fun month for me because there’s so much family things to do, friends to see, yea to be had, cards to send (tho I might pass on that this year) and just love to share around.

This is also the time of year where I go back to some abandoned books that I started this year, the ones that had every intention of completing and see if I can crush the book in the next 30 days. It’s always a fun low pressure game for me. Mainly because I love to read so polyamorously that I know I’ll never get to complete so many of the books that I started causally this year.. but I always get to go back to a half-touched book and see if we can make it work for *cue the Phil Collins** one.. more.. night.. one ☝️more night.. one more night and I can’t wait forever..

I want to see if there’s anything I overlooked or started or threw away after one night or week of reading pleasure this past year. Imma go back and see!! I have too many, so, so many partially started books, so let us begin.

Mimi Zhu was talking about so much, recovering and touching love and life again after domestic violence and building reconnections to the body and the self. I’m going to try to finish this one.

These are some short story collections that I started by authors that I really enjoy — so I’m excited to engage with these again.

I’m a bit farther in each of these than listed here on my reading tracker — but I feel like I want to start Life Ceremony over again.. might not finish that one; maybe — but it’s looking like maybe just the first one Bliss Montage by Ling Ma.

Life Ceremony is such a vivid read I can remember every page, but it’s also highly disturbing and I’m not sure if I wanna do that in December.

Ah yesssss, the competing field studies. I really also enjoy Chet’la Sebree’s work. Another book that I love so much and took and have been taking my time with. It’s so next level! Tempering the high emotions in Chet’La’s book with a look into field study Re: plants and more.

I’ve got more more more.. but this is just a taste of things to come for December.. and who knows if I’ll get to them all but imma enjoy trying!
