Actually Republic Commando is the first media I encountered where characters with ASPD, BPD are not depicted as serial killers.
But if anyone has other recommendations about media (movies, books) where personality disorders are not used for shock value as in stereotypical serial killers in a horror/thriller, I'm all ears. (Without sarcasm.)

Kal means so much to me. Because I have one of the stigmatized 'asshole disorders'.
And reading about him and his struggles to trying to do the right thing, having his heart in the right place but his head is just... is just so fucked up that he takes one step forward and two back... it means so much to me. Because giving up is not an option. Because giving up will cause even more harm to other people around me than just doing my best.
And my best is often not enough.
I felt validated and understood. Kal is an inspiration but also
FUCK NO DON'T DO IT WHY NO NOOOO NOOOO FUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!! NO!!!! WHY DID YOU DO THAT!!! WHY!!! FUCK!!! NO! NOOO!!!!
at the same time.
Having a disorder like this is like watching yourself doing shit from the vip seat of your brain and you are completely aware of it.
Mental illnesses and disabilities are beautifully represented in this books and not the sanitized, showcase, cleaned up way so it can be digested by the general audience.
But this is like in the real world. Every couch activist support disability and the mentally ill until they actualy meet one. Especially those who have inconvenient and harmful symptoms.
Kal Skirata is a beautiful character. Beautifully fucked up. I love him.
”we need more morally grey characters” y'all can't even handle Kal Skirata fym

Just had a weird idea for a fic (use it if you want, I probably won't)
Basically what if a group of Clones officers/ARCs/Commandos got fed up with the civilian and nat born officer leadership of the Republic and decided to execute a coup against them
Like these Clones are both A. Unconvinced that the civilian and regular military leadership have the capability to effectively lead and execute the war, and B. Want people who actually care about their lives in charge, so they plan to overthrown the senate/regular officers/Palpatine and put the Jedi unquestionably on charge
Mostly this idea is just to screw over Palpatine (and people like Tarkin) in a way that completely blindsides him, so he's now been rendered powerless, the Jedi are horribly embarrassed by this whole affair like they appreciate the sentiment but they're not supposed to hold this kind of power, and are trying to figure out how to handle this, meanwhile Dooku's off to the sidelines with a "huh" expression and has no idea how to proceed as this is most definitely not the plan, on the one hand this chaos could be useful, on the other hand with the Jedi in charge and unhindered by Palpatine's constant sabatoge the separatists might be in big trouble

My Favorite Books of 2024
I read far fewer books than I’d intended this year (read a lot more short-form articles and a good bit of fanfiction, some of which I’ll rec elsewhere), but since @hondagirll was kind enough to tag me in their year-end book roundup, I thought it would be fun to share my top five!
Rebel Girl: My Life as a Feminist Punk by Kathleen Hanna
I got inspired to read this after seeing Bikini Kill live for the first time ever, and it was fantastic and inspirational, if a bit harrowing in several places. (Content warning for sexual assault, child abuse, domestic violence.) Hearing Kathleen talk about the creative process, how starting a band evolved from her work in creating art and spoken word performance, how things like The Julie Ruin came about, really made me want to write some zines and maybe start a band and just plain make some art.
Camp Damascus by Chuck Tingle
I’ve never been particularly big on horror as a genre, but I’d heard so many good things about @drchucktingle’s novel that I had to check it out. Incredible, multifaceted characters (particularly the protagonist, through whom we discover the central mystery of the book and who fights so hard to be herself as she is rediscovering who that is), gripping action, and horror that is both fantastical and uncomfortably close to reality.
Leslie F*cking Jones by Leslie Jones
Another autobiography, this one of comedian, actor, and one of the most talented people from Saturday Night Live, Leslie Jones. Leslie is one of the most gifted, vivid storytellers I’ve ever heard, and the benefit of the audiobook is that she a) reads it and b) does a fair number of asides as she’s reading where I’m fairly certain we got way more stories than are in the printed version of the book. Plus there really is nothing like hearing these stories in her voice. You know it’s going to be hilarious, because she’s so talented as a comedian, and you know this is likely going to have some emotional moments (as this is an autobiography), but there’s something about the way she gifts us with her vulnerability, her reflections, and her perspectives (particularly on being a Black woman in an industry and a country rife with racism and sexism) that makes it so much more than the sum of its parts.
Star Wars: X-Wing #5: Wraith Squadron by Aaron Allston
This was a reread of a Star Wars EU novel I’ve loved for a long time and often recommend to folks who are trying to write Star Wars fic, especially those wanting to write characters like Wes Janson and Wedge Antilles. This is the first in the Wraith Squadron series, where Wedge Antilles builds a new combination X-wing squadron/ commando unit, using pilots who have special skills but were misfits on the verge of washing out of the New Republic navy. The way Allston combines action sequences and missions with humor and genuine character moments for each of the squadron members is amazing and a great lesson in how to build a compelling Star Wars story.
Radiant Rebellion: Reclaim Aging, Practice Joy, and Raise a Little Hell by Karen Walrond
This isn’t quite a self-help book, and isn’t quite an autobiography, but a little of both with some interesting perspectives on aging and on the barriers ageism often poses as we move through life. As her child prepares to leave for college, Walrond explores to what extent her issue is about getting older or if it’s just about having lost her “spark”, why we associate vitality and beauty with youth in mainstream American culture, and how we can think about reframing aging personally and structurally as well as think differently about the next adventures in our lives.
Who else would like to share your top five (or top two, or one) reads from 2024? Consider yourself tagged! And if you’re looking to read any of these, I highly recommend bookshop.org for book purchases and Libby/your local library for loans. (The only one I bought was Wraith Squadron, and that one I picked up from my local independent comic book store.)

Jaster + kissing you against a wall/door, legs intertwined around their waist pls?🫣 I’m out of the hospital but absolutely smacked with painkillers and in desperate need of a pick-me-up 🙈
Can't Not Touch You
Summary: After a difficult meeting, you decide to offer Jaster some comfort.
Pairing: Jaster Mereel x Reader
Word Count: 861
Warnings: Spicy. No smut though
Tagging: @trixie2023 @n0vqni
A/N: This is probably going to be the only thing I get to write today. It's a busy day, and it makes me anxious having people hovering over my shoulder when I write. But I hope you're feeling okay and that this is what you wanted! Also, I have opinions on the New Mandalorians, but we're not going there.
You watch Jaster grip the edge of the table silently. He’s not in his armor, which would normally surprise you, but the meeting had been sprung on him, so he’s dressed down in casual clothes.
You both are.
And your gaze drifts to his hands, and you see that his knuckles are white.
“Jas-”
“The Republic will support them,” He says through ground teeth, “They intend to invite the kriffing Republic into Mandalorian Politics-”
You stand and walk over to him. “Jaster-”
His grip around the table tightens, “The Republic will classify us as terrorists. It’ll become too dangerous to exist as a Mandalorian Commando anywhere outside Mandalore-”
You duck under his arm and press both of your hands against his cheeks, “Jaster Mereel!”
He stops and looks down at you, something soft and warm entering his eyes as he scans your face, “Riduur,”
“He doesn’t have the support he needs to actually get this off the ground.” You say sternly, “The Mandalorians will turn against him and his idea will die before it ever reaches the Senate Floor.” You drop one of your hands and tap his hand, “The Senate itself is like a bunch of feral tooka, they don’t agree about anything. Ever.”
Jaster releases the table and lightly sets his hands on your hips, and you beam at him as you lead him out of the meeting room. “And how, my beautiful Riduur, do you know so much about the Republic Senate?”
You hum as you lead him through the halls of the Mand’alor’s palace, “Well, back before I was the Mand’alor’s Riduur,” You reply with a lazy smile, “I was a Senator’s daughter.”
You navigate through the halls backwards, positive that Jaster wouldn’t let you bump into anything that he didn’t want to bump you into. “And what did you learn as a Senator’s Daughter?” He asks as he guides you through a door leading to the sleep wing.
“Mm, that politics are dumb.”
He laughs and presses his forehead against yours, “Anything else?”
You brush your thumb against his chin with an impish grin, “That men are easily manipulated.”
“Ooh, are you manipulating me, Riddur?” Jaster asks with a grin.
“Only when you want me to.” You reply with an answering grin.
Jaster adjusts you slightly so that your back bumps against the wall several feet from your bedroom door. His hands slide up your sides and down your arms, and he grins as he pins your arms to the wall next to your head.
You raise up onto your toes and catch his lips in a gentle kiss. A kiss that immediately becomes more passionate as Jaster takes control. Slowly, very slowly, he slides your hands up over your head, so he can pin them into place with one hand, and he slides his arm around your waist.
He lifts you as though you weigh nothing, and you hook your legs around his waist, and he breaks the kiss with a pleasure filled groan, “Do you have any idea how much I love you,” He says against your lips.
You wiggle against him, and he groans again as he tightens his grip around you, pulling a delighted giggle from your lips, “I have a pretty good idea, yeah.” You reply, “But you can always tell me again.”
“Or I could show you?” He offers with a small grin.
You feel a thrill of delight, “We’re still in the hallway, riddur.” You remind him.
“If anyone walks in on us, I’ll just shoot them.”
Your head falls back as you laugh, “That’s not very mand’alor-y behavior, Riduur.”
“Don’t care,” He catches your lips in a deep kiss, “Need you.”
You moan into the kiss, “You have me,” You murmur softly.
He releases a quiet laugh and presses you harder against the wall, “Right here?” He asks, his voice a low rumble, “Right now?”
“Wherever. Whenever.” You kiss him and lightly flick your tongue across his bottom lip, “‘M yours, after all.”
His hips jerk against yours at your words, “Mine.” Jaster repeats in a low murmur, “All mine. My beautiful Riduur. My perfect girl.”
“All yours,” You agree, as you writhe against him.
He presses his forehead against yours, an adoring grin on his handsome face, “Changed my mind, love. Need you in our bed. Where I can worship you like you deserve.”
You pout at him, “Maybe just a little?”
“Temptress,” He accuses good-naturedly, “Wrap your arms around my neck, mesh’la.” He releases your wrists and then waits until you're properly wrapped around him, before he pulls you away from the wall and walks just a little more down the hall to your bedroom.
He kicks the door shut behind him, and then spins and pins you against the door, pulling a startled squeak from your lips.
“There,” He murmurs as his deft hands start peeling off your clothes, “Much better.”
“This isn’t a bed, riduur,” You joke, gasping as he bites down on your neck.
“My perfect riduur wanted to be taken against a door, so that’s what’s going to happen.” He grins against your skin, “And then I’ll worship you like you deserve.”

Last Monday of the Week 2025-02-10
I do make the rules and I also enforce them
Listening: Two songs have been stuck in my head all week, #1 is I Got My Tooth Removed from 10,000 gecs by 100 gecs.
youtube
If I'm honest I've primarily had this sequence stuck in my head
My head's like a ton of bricks, but this dumb bitch still learns new tricks I fuck with fire, burn my dick, play violin on sinking ships I woke up and was down, horrendous, think I need to see the dentist
#2 and I think the theme here is "attractive use of rhythm and rhyme" because it's Vampire State off Your Majesty by Michael Guy Bowman
youtube
I know this one has featured already. As mentioned, I make and enforce the rules. I like a lot of the stupid puns in here! It's a very smug song, very self-satisfied. Also making me so badly want to get a bass guitar.
Watching: Busy week! First up Macbeth, the 2024 West End performance film release.
youtube
It has been a hot second since I have seen Macbeth although I pregamed this with the Ian McKellen and Judi Dench one from the 70's which I kind of half-listened to while making dinner.
youtube
Macbeth is not as dense with like Good Lines as Hamlet but it is tied for like, how fun it is to watch. Relies very heavily on your Lady Macbeth driving everything forward.
There's a lot of gender in here! Everyone is constantly saying whether they're a man or a woman and they're totally not lying they promise.
Also, at Bad Movie Night: Flash Gordon, which. Is not like Macbeth.
Flash Gordon has some really killer outfits! My only knowledge of Flash Gordon is secondhand through parody and I was not prepared for how all out the sets and costumes went, thank you movies.
Multiple lost technologies on display here. We don't make t-shirts that tight anymore, and we also lost this kind of big semi-earnest comedy sci-fi technology. The closest thing to this is I guess Jupiter Ascending, which is Very Tropey in a similar way but that's like, ten years old now?
Reading: Going back and forth between Pale Fire and other things, mostly the little Nabokov collection I picked up. Little to say, Pale Fire continues to be fun but in the same way as before.
Making: Printing around the house, more design stuff around the TV. Starting to work on a lapboard-ish thing. Currently I use the steam desktop mode which is very good, like, genuinely quite handy, which combined with being able to send links from my phone to the handheld is pretty much complete, but it would be nice to be able to a) type and b) play 3D games without having to learn how to use a controller. I am not a picky gamer when it comes to my keyboard and mouse, I've beaten Star Wars Republic Commando on a trackpad more than once, but I do want a mouse.
This involves figuring out what I want to do with Galena. I've run into problems! Galena suffers from "not the same kind of layout as the keyboard I type on all day at work", a problem that has two possible solutions, 1) build a Galena copy for work, or 2) build a work copy for home. I kind of like my work layout (Logitech K860) more than the strict ortho of Galena so it's possible I'm going to tear her down and rebuild her. If I do do this what I might do is figure out how to get time on the makerspace CNC mill so that I can build a swoopy complicated case out of wood, I do like having a wooden keyboard, but it'll probably at least start out as a printed project. It's also possible that much of Galena will become the lapboard and I'll build something new for the desktop.
Additionally: remembered I have that whole LED project. Got save slots working on the API and backend side of things.
Playing: Cyberpunk, I am presently in Phantom Liberty which is a very sharp change of pace, much more focussed, it feels almost like a linear campaign in many ways. Enjoying it but hoo boy that division feels artificial. It doesn't help that I basically waited until everything else was wrapped up to go there, although I am enjoying having some latitude to deploy my top level skill tree in the wild.
Tools and Equipment: I got a really really long wool coat the other day and I cannot overstate how good it is for cold weather because it covers your legs. Combined with my ridiculous chaps this is perhaps the most comfortable I've been outside all winter.

11 minutes into All Quiet On The Western Front audiobook and:
Backstory: I took AP Euro in high school and when it was time to pick history electives in college, I knew I was going to have an 18 credit hour pre professional program course load so I chose easy mode and took 19th Century Europe. The following year I took European History which happened to be from the 19th century on, literally going over the same high points so I didn’t have to study. I rawdogged a couple of tests without reading any of the books. We watched the movie versions of Great Expectations and All Quiet on the Western Front, and I knew I should have probably found the time to read these because I loved A Tale of Two Cities (but was also aware of Dickens’ paid by the word style) and military fiction (I read The Killer Angels and all of The Things They Carried …… and ofc Republic Commando and part of the Halo series).
But I was busy getting my ass kicked in organic chemistry and also writing my Star Wars fanfic, so I took all the themes I needed from the movies and got a 102 on the exam. (None of this saved me from graduating with a 2.8 GPA btw.)
Anyway, I’m finally listening to the audiobook. It’s, as promised, really good. The opening scenes talk about the mundane pleasure of having enough to eat because out of 150 men in the company only 80 returned, which is horrific. And now the main character is talking about shitting in boxes.
It’s so beautifully written!
It makes me sad because a) it’s already sad and b) of course I’m thinking about the Grand Army of the Republic. None of the clones would bat an eye about modesty with using latrines or anything like that. They don’t know any better.
Anyway, I don’t really have a point here other than I finally got around to reading a book I should have read 15 years ago, and now I have to suffer twice as much because I have to think about real history and the clone army too. 👍

Ordo and/or Maze for the headcanon game <3
i am very excited to put these motherfuckers in a jar and shake
Ordo
Headcanon A: realistic
He’s a huge snacker. Loves 2 munch and snack moreso even than the other clones, who are all Noted Lovers Of Food. If he learned to bake or cook he would have little finger-food type snacks on hand at every available opportunity, like muffins or cookies or little savory puff pastry bite type things. Will share if he has lots, and enjoys the compliments (or if he didnt make it, might bask in Caretaker Pride), but if he only has a little he gets really food defensive. I think the minute he gets the aging cure and his metabolism slows down he starts to get a little chubby bc he’ll eat for pleasure instead of just the food is fuel mentality all of them learned on rations. Teasing results in a (credible) threat to be banned from home cooking forever.
Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious
As he gets older and sees more of the world (and gets therapy yessir) he stops putting so much stake in Kal’s opinions (of both him and others) starts viewing Kal’s bullshit social views and his “family values” stuff especially as silly and kind of rote prattle. Very “sure grandpa, let’s get you to bed”. On the other hand as soon as his brothers say some shit it’s on sight. He is going to train them out of casual misogyny if it kills them.
Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends
I think that as much as he does love Kal and does know he and the other Nulls are loved by Kal, he intentionally places himself as a buffer between them. It started as habit on Kamino, because they were all protecting each other from the Kaminoans, and when Kal adopted them Ordo got the most immediate focus, which let the others build up their trust and boundaries in their own time in a way Ordo didn’t really get to have, partially bc Kal had earmarked Ordo as the ‘leader’ of the group. And then even when he was their buir, he was still the only reason they were alive instead of decommissioned or reconditioned, so Ordo was constantly trying to run interference so he’d get blame, because Kal is bad at not playing favorites, and Ordo was kind of the favorite. Obviously there was never any risk of anything but being yelled at and running extra drills, but it took a long time to internalize that. Even as an adult, part of him is still really stuck into this role, where he and Kal both see himself as sort of his brothers’ keeper, and it actually stresses him out a lot, not that he really recognizes that until he starts to unlearn the habits. The rest of the nulls are all aware of this and are varying levels of okay with it, amused by it, and bothered by it. If he didn’t have this formative experience I think he’d have settled into a middle brother role with a side of still being overprotective of his siblings.
Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.
I think he is a bratty bottom in his heart of hearts. He needs a chance to be unrestrained and Bad tm and to be rewarded and praised when he’s good and for his partner to work for him to give them control by prooving that they aren’t going to toss him away when he isn’t compliant and useful to them. Also hes so used to being in charge and in a position of responsibility he deserves to hand himself over to someone and get fucked so good he cries about it
Maze: I don’t have very many out there thoughts on Maze. he seems like he has his shit together moreso than just about anyone else in Republic Commandos its very funny to me that he keeps being cast as like. Having arguments in opposition to the protaganists bc i think his points make more sense than theirs
Headcanon A: realistic
One of the more emotionally intelligent and self-aware clones. I do not think this is because he’s inherently good at emotions though I think he used to repress the shit out of them but he’s pragmatic enough that once the war started and he noticed his preformance slipping he went and got himself, if not a therapist, some psychology readings and at-home exercises for like. processing emotions and stress and navigating both workplace and personal relationships. Half of it is irrelevant to him but he gets a lot of milage out of some of the tools to manage frustration and interpersonal communication.
Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious
As one of the more patient alphas, I think Maze was often tasked to wrangle younger cadets and therefore has a grade-A Teacher Voice as well as a grade-A Command Voice. He does not use it often bc he learned it for like. baby cadets who cry when u yell at them and need to be treated more gently, but sometimes when he’s really tired and/or has been interacting w kids you’ll get Teacher Maze with higher pitched, gentler voice, pitched to carry exactly as much as when he’s booming orders, saying things like “Alright everyone, it’s curfew and you have to get to bed now!”. Hilariously, almost everyone under his command find it scarier than the Command Voice bc they think he’s being passive aggressive and are terrified to find out what happens if you cross Teacher Mode Maze. Really he’s just out of it, did the wrong code switch, and is more likely to give someone a pat on the head reflexively than anything else.
Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends
i honestly can’t think of anything. Maze seems so practical and reliable to me I can’t think of anything heart-crushing compared to the horror that order 66 must have been for him
Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.
Not a headcanon but I want him to have those gamer girl cat ear headphones so bad
#ordo skirata#maze#i forget his number im not tagging#repcomm#ask game#teacher voice maze lives in my heart now#its so funny to whip out Teacher Voice on people ive cleared entire floors at house parties w it*#people HATE IT but they drop everything and comply anyway#(* note: 3 am wednesday in a house w 10 ROOMMATES and i had to wake up at 5 am to go work at a summer camp it was pure reflex)#its my favorite Voice Power im bestowing it on maze. pro everyone listen without arguing con everyone hates it forever unless theyre legit

The “Personality and Personality Disorders” chapter of my blurb series is still in progress and the current part I’m working on (chapter 1 of Order 66) is a bit triggering for me, so the process is a bit slower than I anticipated.
But I returned back with a little treat for you as in
Kal Skirata with Narcissistic Personality Disorder: THEORY AND HEADCANON
This theory is based on my experiences living with a person with NPD and also other researches. Because this is a spectrum illness, what you will read here will probably not apply to everyone. THIS IS NOT A NPD-DEMONIZING POST, THIS IS NOT A KAL SKIRATA BASHING POST. This is about a fictional character is showing similiar traits to Cluster B personality disorders.
I’ve made this post a couple days of ago how Boba saw Kal Skirata when he was a kid and made me think about how the narrative treats Kal.
Kal is often described the small, aggressive, unmistakably fanatical mandalorian warrior, who has talent to piss of everyone who he meets.
And the narrative usually mentions that his conflicts with Walon Vau were so intense often the knives were out to settle the dispute. But not just with Vau, Kal even managed to piss off Jango too.
The sad part, that these only happened off-screen. In the past, in the Kaminoan era of that 10 years 100 training sergeant were isolated from the world with no outside ties, and had to deal with the separation, had to deal with training an army of child slaves, and HAD TO DEAL WITH EACH OTHER. 100 warrior locked in one place for 10 years.
And you put a Kal Skirata in the group.
I had to fucking laugh, when I read an article about how actually group therapy psychologists and nurses love when a person with a personality disorder gets into the group and recovery community for taking-notes-reasons. Because that person make sure that THINGS. WILL. HAPPEN. AND SHIT. WILL. GET. DONE.
I can confirm. I was that person in group therapy.
Kal Skirata is a very charismatic person, but not because he is prince charming, no.
But because he is confident, he has unshakable beliefs in things, and his externalized emotions stick to people. Kal is very open with his emotions. He shows when he is happy. He shows when he is satisfied, he cries when he is sad, and his rage is fiery when he is angry -> though his relationship with anger is a bit difficult.
Confidence, overconfidence usually comes from overcompensation for having insecurities. Abandonment issues. Lacking something that others have. Lack of safety. LACK OF SELF.
But what I want to say is, a person with personality disorder has a very rich emotional life, maybe TOO RICH. Too much to the point it will become to the environment and its people hard to handle. It’s not something people can tolerate in a long run. Just like people with PD works with the black & white mentality, the outside perspective about these people is the same: You either hate to be around them and you don’t want to do anything with them, or you learn to recognize the positive aspects of this behavior and learn to form healthy boundaries through healthy communications. Relationship is about two people after all and not about dominance fight over who is wrong and who is right.
But getting constantly into fights on Kamino with Vau, or Jango, or threatening the Kaminoans ARE the signs of existing aggression and dealing with aggression and aggressive feelings are also the traits of personality disorders. And when challenged with facts or truths that are shaking the narrative of the SELF can often lead to aggressive lashing out.
I believe when Kal said in the books that he would never laid a hand on the Nulls or the Commandos during their time on Kamino and he never did. Kamino was a hell with even hellish compromises and the worst deals of the history of worst deals. But Kal wouldn’t hurt a child. He taught them love and taught them how to endure the hell while keeping them away from decommission.
I kinda find it baffling that people find Din and Grogu’s relationship wholesome... but everyone loses their marbles over Kal and his biological sons. But I guess when Disney does it, it's alright. But eh. Tumblr double standards.
I think this compassion weren’t true for anyone else. Kal threatened kaminoans. Kal threatened co-workers who hurt cadets. But because I believe that Kal tried to work on himself to not do the same things what Munin did with him, I think people or some kind of behavior had to trigger that aggression to come out.
Family and children is always a sensitive spot for Kal and I’m not surprised that during the training Kal ways always on the edge. Always on the edge of lashing out but lashing out to cadets is a taboo, I mean, they are the key to his salvation -> Another aspect of NPD is the grandiosity.
But also…
Kal is a very social person. And it’s shit, when you are a social person, YOU WANT PEOPLE AROUND YOU, you want to love people, you want people to love you, but you are unable to conform. You want your voice heard, and YOUR VOICE WILL BE HEARD, whether people want it, or not.
Speaking of grandiosity, his plans of saving the souls of the Clones by making them Mandalorians. Kal arrived on Kamino purposeless, depressed, without anyone to care about him. And while he did the compassionate thing and basically adopted six mentally ill children, he found himself a purpose and a life goal: a religious goal of connecting the clones to their roots, being mandalorians, making them mandalorians and with it, giving them something to be proud of right from the start. <- Boba is kinda right about Kal being fanatical.
And then he found an even bigger purpose later: Stopping the accelerated aging of the Kaminoans. AT ALL COST.
And when Ordo feigned destroying Ko Sai’s, Ordo basically destroyed his only purpose that made his automaton body clockwork machine vessel go forward.
An NPD parent who loves their child is a TIGERMOM and Kal is pretty much a tigermom. NPD parent realizes their kid is being bullied at school, so they just storm in, grabs the kid and yells at the kid until the kid doesn’t want to live anymore from the humiliation (works in short term, suck in long run for the hurt one). The protecting instincts are working just right, but the channeling of this protection went haywire due not asking: “Child, what can I do for you to ease your pain? Do you need me to fuck them up or do you need a hug?”
But an NPD parent is also
Kal: My kid who I love more than anything destroyed my entire life and it is my fault and I should have done better to raise him better.
And also
Kal: I love my child more than anything and I know what is best for them. I know that they will hate me for it, but their safety is more important than how they feel about me. I will make the decision for them.
Kal: I don’t actually have problem with the Jedi and Kaminoans NOW that I basically hide them in my own house, because I recalibrate things in my mind to make it sense to me to be okay to hide jedi in the closet, but people are now expecting me to execute them because of things I said in the past, and the lady I have crush on now looks at me bad, please someone kill me.
Personality Disorders are all about these weird little contradictions and extremes and expecially the Cluster B variations that are famous for their dramatical, theatrical and grandious world view.
Overall I say, in the books Kal is fighting and STRUGGLING to fight down his bad urges. He REALIZES that he thinks about certain things the wrong way, but he just can’t change. Not alone. Not without support. And I think Imperial Commando, far way from the military life could have been a good start to unfold these topics. :((((
Trauma recovery is never a straight line to the heaven. Trauma recovery is the hell itself, and some days it’s easier to deal with the obstacles and sometimes you start at just like Day 0. And for me, this is why Kal’s story is important. He fucks up constantly, he trips in his own legs, but hey, this is mental illness is all about.
But he never stops trying to be a good man and eventually doing the right thing.
EDIT: After consideration and spending consecutively 4 months with someone with NPD/BPD, I find this blurb a bit outdated. I still think that Kal has NPD traits, but BPD and cPTSD are more dominant.

I've elaborated a little about how I think that Sev, the sniper of Delta Squad, acts as a really interesting mirror to Crosshair in TBB. Where Delta Squad, now sans Sev, goes on to become Imperial Commandos, Sev's planned route vis a vis the game developer in a never-created sequel for Republic Commando (the game) was for him to go on and help start the early stages of the Rebellion.
I think especially after we've now seen fucking Commander Scorch (my boy what have they done to you), it's even more interesting. So, where Scorch has become a commander next to fucking Hemlock... Sev is getting off Kashyyyk with the only living Jedi on planet w/ him who's unaccounted for and does a lot of work for the rebellion, in line with the plans had mentioned— Mr. Quinlan Vos.
It's a scene from an upcoming chapter of Reconvene, whenever I get around to Omega finally interacting with Walon Vau... More/less, obviously we as the Reader of Repcomm know that Walon a) is going to go after Sev and b) cares WAY more about him than Sev ever knew , and ofc, Sev's last thoughts in O66 are him being afraid of his failure. The juxtaposition with Vau having the audacity to ask if Sev knew he cared....when I get you sir.
Here's a sneak peek 👀
“You didn’t come back.” The Mandalorian points out, clearly looking for something, dark visor on a black helmet tilting expectantly. Sev scoffs. “I knew what would be waiting for me after failing.” He shook his head. “Kid died, sure. But then they looked at me, asking why I didn’t follow the Order. Katarn saved my ass. Again.” He says after a beat. “Vos came for the kid. Had a spare speeder. Because the Jedi didn’t just leave us to die. They came back.” And they didn’t. You didn't. These unspoken words are like deep knives in someone's back, the Sergeant seemingly taking a moment to collect himself. “Delta had orders from the Jedi.” The Sergeant’s voice is strained. “To leave you.” “My squad would have been with me again that night if not for the Order.” Sev rebukes. “They followed protocol, your protocol— complete the mission, don't go back for the weak link because it'll only get yourself—" He cuts himself off. "I don’t blame Delta.” His words are soft, then. “As far as they could have known, I was dead. It’s been years, now. I’ve moved on from it. The Order came, they followed it, and I didn’t. Quin blames it on the head trauma.” “If that’s the bar, then Scorch shouldn’t have listened to it either.” His voice carries no heat, and is surprisingly devoid of all emotion. Sev gives a ghost of a snort.
Neither of them say much of anything, for a long moment. “You know,” Sev restarts, eyes intense as he sizes up the other man. “I wondered, how this would go. Pictured it, pictured you ripping me to pieces, beating me within an inch of my life, killing Quinlan like you always said you wanted to. Hated myself, for the longest time, for the failure, for the fear, and I told myself you drilled it into me this hard because you wanted me to live. I told myself I was afraid because I'd earned whatever would happened to me when you got your hands on me, because I'd failed, I'd deserve it.” He shakes his head. “But I’m not afraid because I deserve it. I’m just afraid of you.”

I wanted to figure out the Jedi: Clone Trooper ratio in the GAR (for how many clones might be Senate or the Troopers themselves consider a reasonable sacrifice to save/recover one tactically more valuable Jedi reasons), but checking the numbers on wookieepedia was like stepping into what you think is a balmy, warm bath but turns out to be boiling - I had to hurriedly pull back in order to not burn myself and don't think I can handle more than quickly skimming the surface.
There were ten thousand Jedi in the galaxy before the Clone Wars,[94] but many were killed during the conflict,[95]
That. That is not very helpful. The footnotes are referring to a book and a Clone Wars episode respectively, but I'm not going to track down and read an entire book in the hopes that they'll tell me is this number includes Service Corps members (are they or are they not considered Jedi? Either way, not trained to fight, not knights and not in the GAR), younglings (pre-Jedi, too young and untrained to fight, might go into the corps), Padawans (not fully trained knights, but do actually act as Jedi Commanders in the GAR), and any Knights/Masters too old to fight in a war, unfit due to physical limitations (individual ones or their species being too far from baseline human for them to be of use), simply unsuited for other reasons (they did learn how to handle a saber as padawans, but specialized as healers/archivists/etc and would need a) to be retrained to be effective in battle, and b) are essential in their current position anyway). So, how many trained, mission-ready and thus battle-ready Jedi were there who could independently lead clones into battle? Let's hand-wave it and say 5,000. Yes, i just randomly picked a number.
Then I looked at https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Grand_Army_of_the_Republic/Legends#Numbers, which made matters even worse. There is the commonly referred to number of 3,000,000 Clone Troopers:
In Guide to the Grand Army of the Republic and the novel Republic Commando: Triple Zero (both written by Karen Traviss, with Ryan Kaufman as co-author on the Guide…), there were 3,000,000 clones one year after the Battle of Geonosis.
This number tbh always strikes me as rather low considering the size of the Republic, the number of battlefields, the fact that the GAR is up against a droid army, i.e. an enemy that, unlike humans, does not need rest periods, and the general disregard for clone lives in the Senate, i.e. a general disregard for clone lives in the priorities and orders the GAR was given. It would also put us at 600 Clone Troopers per Jedi capable of independently leading a campaign, which would make for close Jedi-Trooper-relations, but also seems low to me.
There are also several other, greatly varying numbers thrown around, e.g.:
It is also possible that Lama Su did not intend the term "unit" to refer to an individual soldier. If a "unit" referred to a battalion of 576 troopers (as Lama Su spoke of later in Obi-Wan's visit), then 200,000 of these would render 115,200,000 clones and the 1,000,000 others spoken of as 576,000,000. This grand total of 691,200,000 would be far more suitable for the core of a galactic army. A "unit" being a 2,304-clone regiment, the largest military division classified as a unit instead of a formation, would amount to 2,764,800,000 clones. Furthermore, if a "unit" refers to a legion, the closest formation in size to a real-life British division of 15,000 men, the 1,200,000 units would have more than 18,000,000,000 clones, a truly "grand" army, suitable for defeating the huge numbers of droids under the Confederacy.
This is an entirely different ballpark. 3,000,000 clones would be a people, but a small people, and miniscule in comparison to the rest of the Republic. Berlin has more inhabitants. NYC has almost triple that. The populace of Coruscant is supposed to range in the trillions. 3,000,000 clones would be 0,0003% of even one trillion (1,000,000,000,000). Three million clones could simply disappear in the lower levels.
But 18,000,000,000? That's 1,8% of Coruscant's population. Enough to get the locals grumbling about those people.
Then again, it would also be 3,600,000 Troopers per Jedi, which would either have them so removed from each other that, once they are out of Kamino and the very real experience of their brothers dying starts to dilute the loyalty flashtraining brainwashed into them, most Troopers don't get what's supposed to be so special about the Jedi anyway, or consider their Jedi Generals precious magical unicorns, too rare to be endangered unduly, keep away from the battle at all costs. And, with that ratio, the GAR could consider it standard procedure to sacrifice several hundred thousand clones to preserve one Jedi.
Anyway, under https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Grand_Army_of_the_Republic/Legends#Command_structure_of_regular_forces I found:
Systems Army—2 Sector Armies (294,912 troopers) led by a High Jedi General (Jedi High Council Member).[18][4] Sector Army—4 corps (147,456 troopers) led by a Senior Jedi General (Jedi Master).[18][4] Corps/Division—4 legions (36,864 troopers) led by a Marshal Commander and a Jedi General (Jedi Knight or Master).[18][4] Legion/Brigade—4 regiments (9,216 troopers) led by a Senior Commander and a Jedi General (Jedi Knight).[18][4] Regiment—4 battalions (2,304 troopers) led by a Regimental Commander and a Jedi Commander (Jedi Padawan).[4] Battalion—4 companies (576 troopers) led by a Battalion Commander and a Major. Company—4 platoons (144 troopers) led by a Captain and a Lieutenant.[18][4]
Which, tbh, are nice, orderly numbers I can wrap my head around.
This would have Ghost Company be Obi-Wan and Cody's "personal" 144-men-company in their 576 Troopers strong 212th Attack Battalion, and there is one fully-trained Jedi per Legion of 9,216 Troopers. Something something High General, this would mean the Third Systems Army has 32 Jedi Generals (plus x Padawans).
Wookieepedia also tells me that a Venator-class Star Destroyer like the Negotiator had a crew of 7,400, which is three regiments, and carried 2,000 additional troops as passengers, i.e. not even a full regiment per Star Destroyer, so I have no idea how that works. And there would not even be one Jedi per Star Destroyer (so it's no wonder the Jedi, used to communal living and shared meditation, are isolated and lonely).
In conclusion, I do not understand anything. There could be a couple hundred Troopers per Jedi General, there could be a couple million. But also, there are about 10,000 per Jedi General.

Commercial tanker refueled USAF fighters that were going to exercise in Singapore
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 11/16/2023 - 16:00 in Military
The U.S. Air Force conducted its first air refueling of combat aircraft using a commercial tanker on November 6.
The commercial resupply of the F-16 Fighting Falcons from Osan Air Base in South Korea took place as part of the joint Commando Sling 23 exercise conducted in Singapore. The bilateral training event with the Air Force of the Republic of Singapore is sponsored by the Pacific Air Forces and aims to improve the way the island nation operates with the United States.
This air refueling marked a major step forward in the efforts of the U.S. Air Force to expand this capacity. For several years, the service has considered increasing its refueling operations with commercial tanker aircraft. Earlier this year, a commercial tanker refueled an E-3 Sentry and an RC-135 Rivet Joint during an Air Combat Command exercise, the service reported in a statement on November 9.
This month's refueling during the Commando Sling was carried out by a KDC-10 aircraft, the service said, and the photographs showed that the tanker carried the Omega Air Refueling markings. The Virginia-based company, formed in 2004, has been the U.S. Navy's main contractor for commercial refueling services since 2007. It also supported the air forces of U.S. allies, such as Australia and NATO nations.
Lieutenant Colonel Curtis Holtman, head of air mobility operations for the Pacific Air Forces, said this refueling served as a “proof of concept” to show that a commercial tanker can fuel U.S. Air Force fighters during exercise and training, while keeping its own tanker planes available for real-world operations.
“If we can use commercial air refueling to cover movements from point A to point B for participation in exercises throughout the unit's readiness training, this will free up our fleet of combat tanker planes to be ready to respond to emerging contingency requirements,” Holtman said. "This is another mechanism that we can take advantage of to increase the readiness of our fighters."
Photographs showed at least four F-16 jets from the 36º Osan Fighter Squadron flying alongside the Omega tanker on the way to Singapore. The KDC-10 can carry up to 247,000 pounds of fuel to fuel other aircraft.
Holtman said that this tanker carried more than 40 passengers and four cargo pallets to show how it can also perform air transport missions. The KDC-10 can carry up to 100,000 pounds of cargo or passengers.
Holtman said that commercial tankers should also refuel the F-15C Eagle and F-22 Raptor fighters when the exercise ends.

AYRA STARR RELEASE PARTY FOR HER HIGHLY ANTICIPATED ALBUM, "THE YEAR I TURNED 21"
FEATURES ANITTA, COCO JONES, ASAKE, GIVEON, SEYI VIBEZ AND MORE
Get ready for the ultimate coming-of-age vibe with Ayra Starr’s new album, The Year I Turned 21 ! This Gen Z queen is bringing her most personal stories to the table, mixed with those empowering anthems we all love. Ayra takes us on a ride through themes of growth, love, heartbreak, and finding your inner power, all wrapped up in her signature style. This album shows off a fresh artistic maturity, born from the wild year this Nigerian star has experienced. If you’re ready for a soundtrack to your own glow-up, Ayra Starr's got you covered! 🌟🎶
I had the utmost pleasure of attending the young star's album release party at Republic Records. Ayra's upbeat and welcoming energy had everyone feeling right at home. She took us on a journey through each track. She took us on the journey through every individual song, and even had the track list as included in her album art work (see image below).
Ayra Starr opened up about making music with her brother Milar, who co-wrote some tracks on her iconic 19 & Dangerous album. Now, he's back as a featured artist on her upcoming album, The Year I Turned 21. This sibling duo is seriously unstoppable! 🌟🎶

The first song "Birds Sing of Money" is an absolute vibe! As Ayra put it her self "the first song was just to flex on you guys." The beat put you in an automatic trance with a desire to dance.
On the album, Ayra Starr stated,
“This is a coming-of-age story. The rollercoaster of emotions and genres intertwined tells the story of a 21-year-old African girl and superstar. Twenty one isn’t just an age, it’s a moment of change in your life. A time of necessary growth, hurt, realizing your power… love. Not everybody’s “21” happens at 21. Whenever it is for you; learn from it, feel through it... that’s what matters.”
On one of the more emotive stories told on the album, “Last Heartbreak Song,” Ayra Starr cuts herself off from a one-sided relationship and goes straight into self-protection mode. In a push-and-pull with American R&B heavyweight Giveon, she vows over atmospheric beats, “This is my last heartbreak song, I’ll be better on my own.”

The masterful body of work also features "Commas", Ayra Starr’s feel-good hit, which has exceeded 100 million streams across all platforms in just two months and spent five weeks on top of the UK Afrobeats Chart. Keeping up the confident vibes, Ayra Starr ropes in Anitta and Coco Jones for the empowering “Woman Commando.” Fusing urgent Afrobeats rhythms with Latin pop and R&B; this global “Sabi Girl” anthem is poised to soundtrack the summer.
Throughout the album, Ayra Starr shows an uncompromising focus on self-care and personal growth – a mindfulness well beyond her years. Tracks like"Bad Vibes", featuring renowned Nigerian wordsmith Seyi Vibez, hears her doubling down on her commitment to protect her energy from negativity. On the magnetic “Warm Up” featuring Asake, Ayra Starr experiments with jazz with an effortless, free-flowing cadence as she taunts an ex before moving on to the next. “Now you miss my warm touch… it’s a warm up to my next.” Rose-colored love songs like the soulful ‘"Rhythm & Blues"’ and “Lagos Love Story” show rare glimpses of Ayra Starr allowing herself to be carried away in the moment. Elsewhere, “Control” is a seductive siren’s call across a crowded Havana bar, paired with summery guitars and hip-swaying rhythms that nod to Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie.” However, it is the searingly honest songwriting on the more personal tracks on “The Year I Turned 21” that the Gen Z star truly shines. As the centerpiece of the album, “21” captures a rollercoaster of emotions from youthful bravado to moments of weary, self-doubt. An unfiltered snapshot of a transitional period in life, where one feels both green yet well beyond your years at the same time.
The deeply personal album closer, “The Kids Are Alright,” is written for her late father who passed away before she became “Ayra Starr,” and features voice notes from her siblings and mother. She also shared that a lot of her music is written with her brother and that she owes a lot to him. This summer is shaping up to be yet another monumental season for Ayra Starr, who has now amassed over 1 billion global streams. Following her critically-lauded, sold-out first world tour last year, she is set to make her Glastonbury Festival debut on the Pyramid Stage next month, building on the incredible momentum around the album release.

Description: One Trip Too Many, A Pilot’s Memoirs of 38 Months in Combat over Laos and Vietnam, is an autobiography about my life as a pilot in Southeast Asia during the conflict in Vietnam. It is primarily a story to share with family and friends about my personal involvement in the conflict and the turbulent decade of the 60s and does not attempt to question the politics of the era. It begins with a brief description of my quest to gain admittance to the United States Air Force Academy, my four years at the Academy, and the subsequent year of pilot training. I flew three different types of aircraft in combat and the book provides insight into the training that took place for the C-130 Hercules, the F-105 Thunderchief, and the A-1 Skyraider. Each of the three tours in combat over Laos and Vietnam is described with emphasis on the more memorable flights including a bailout in the A-1 and the final crash on takeoff that ended my active duty Air Force career. My time in various hospitals is described at the end of the book and the epilogue tells briefly of my life after retirement from the United States Air Force. The book has been described as a combination of Band of Brothers, Top Gun, and Forrest Gump. ** ### About the Author Wayne A. Warner graduated in 1963 from the United States Air Force Academy. After receiving his wings at Craig AFB, Alabama in 1964 he flew combat missions over Southeast Asia in the C-130 Hercules, the F-105 Thunderchief, and the A-1 Skyraider. In March 1969 he crashed on takeoff in an A-1H and was critically burned. Following medical retirement from the United States Air Force in September 1969, he graduated from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville in 1974. He then worked as a weapon systems acquisition attorney in the Federal Civil Service for the United States Air Force at Eglin AFB, Florida until his retirement in 2004.
