The grandfather clock in the mansion announced the hour with a heavy sound.
My sleep interrupted but my eyes still blurry with drowsiness, I felt a little irritated as I reached out to wrap my arms around her.
However, she wasn’t there. I grasped nothing but air.
I sighed and sat upright.
“She has gone there again…”
Of course, I had a hunch where she was. Ever since we found ourselves in the human world again, she had visited the church every day without fail. I wondered if she had gone to offer her prayers for the fallen demons and humans again.
“It cannot be helped. I shall go and get her.”
It would not hurt to head out and go somewhere while we were at it, even if it would be a place of her choosing. My thoughts veered into uncharacteristic directions as I got dressed and headed out of the mansion.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
The air was considerably cooler after the sun had set on the town. The air in front of my eyes turned whiter with every breath I took.
All the while I followed her scent to my destination, she remained in the back of my mind. Back when I had only just met her, I would have kicked and screamed at any of her attempts to go outside alone. I would have locked her up in the mansion. However, somehow, I now realised that I should cut her some slack.
Was it because I had lost my father’s powers? Was it because I had awoken as Adam?
I had no clue. Still, our lives had been unbelievably peaceful ever since I had awoken. The dream of the two of us living together in Eden had been crushed, but the life we had come to live instead was not so bad either.
I felt her presence gradually growing stronger. Her trail had led me to the old church as expected.
When I carefully opened the ill-fitted door, I caught sight of her immediately. There she was, her back to me and on her knees as she offered her prayers. By way of announcing my presence, I shuffled my feet a little as I approached her.
“...Kanato.”
When she turned around to face me, her eyes widened in surprise for a brief moment before she lowered her gaze to the floor. The cross that she was holding did not bother me, but still she stuffed it into her pocket as if to hide it when she stood up.
We remained silent for a while.
I thought she might be angry with me if I did not say something. My lips moved on their own in an attempt to form an apology.
“I would like to take you someplace of your choosing. Where would you like to go?”
As I spoke, her eyes captivated mine in an effort to seek out my true intentions. I did not detest her inquisitive gaze. Rather, I thought it was quite endearing.
“I… don’t think I have anywhere I’d like to go.”
“Hm…? Why is that?”
“I don’t mind going somewhere, but… As long as I’m with you, that’s enough for me.”
My breath caught in my throat in response to her confession. Happiness overwhelmed me.
Smiling in contentment, I wrapped my arms around her small body and pulled her close. The sweet scent of her blood enveloped me and slowly brought my mind to a halt.
“I feel the same way… I love you,” I whispered, and I kissed her.
She did not resist. She simply leaned in, and our lips met many times over.
However, I wondered whether she hesitated a little in fear of committing blasphemy against her God. We were in a church, after all. Her fingers trembled as they grabbed the back of my vest.
“You should only think about me. Anything other than me is not worth your attention.”
“...Yeah.”
She softly, lovingly whispered her assent.
It was not as if my heart was heavy with the burden of killing so many, humans and demons alike, but I longed to tell her whatever I could to comfort her and soothe her worries.
This girl, who was always so prone to hesitation, had now made clear that she desired me. Her arms tightened around me even more, as if to tell me that she was ready to forget everything else.
She and I are the same. We are sinful creatures who have to atone for their sins. In the situation we were in, I was the only one she could cling to. And I could not help but feel happy about that fact.
The cross fell out of her pocket and clattered to the ground, but neither of us reached for it. We simply stood there, basking in our desire for one another.

Fixing Marie and fixing Stein's arc*
*Disclaimer: I am ONLY an anime watcher. I have some loose knowledge of the manga, but this rewrite comes from the standpoint of "what would make the story tighter" with no thought of the manga canon.
Soul Eater starts as a 1/10 show and gets up to a solid 8/10. Those early episodes don't interest me at all, because fixing them would require starting over from almost scratch, but those 8/10s are so fucking juicy and easy to turn into 10/10s with just a little bit of rewriting. With that being said:
Spirit should've been the one to pull Stein back from the madness. Marie's arc should've been about motherhood, and she should've been used as a foil for Medusa.
This isn't even about shipping, though I do ship Spirit and Stein. This is about tightening up a story to actually wrap up loose ends and not create female characters solely to exist for the male ones. Here's how the fixes work:
For of her introduction, instead of the "I just want to get married for money and be lazy" gag which we never actively see from Marie (she is clumsy at her job, but never lazy), and the godawful "I'll marry a toilet" joke, Marie is introduced as being upset being called into work because she wants a nuclear family. She dreams about being a housewife and stay-at-home mom, and focuses deeply on the latter part. When Azusa points out that she'll have a chance to teach lots of children, Marie points at Blackstar and Death having an explosive fight in the distance and says something akin to, "Those aren't normal children!!!" It's Soul Eater, it's a comedy.
There are already a good number of scenes where Marie and Crona interact, and Crona clearly sees Marie as the (good) mother they never had. All that needs to be done to further this agenda is showing Marie's POV—she's initially unsure of how to treat Crona, given their circumstances, but quickly grows fond of them and begins to take special interest in caring for them.
Marie is still sent to live with Stein, as her extremely empathetic and kind nature is a good balance to his apathy and insanity. However, he is not just allowed to wander free, ESPECIALLY after being caught trying to free Medusa. Death doesn't want him in chains, because he feels that's animalistic, but tells Marie to keep him under house arrest for a while.
This would've worked fine, except that the snake planted in Marie has been lying dormant, and when Medusa activates it, she can control Marie like a puppet to let Stein out. That's when he goes and gets lost in the maze of his own mind.
When Crona comes to Death to request seeking out Stein, Marie says she can't trust them anymore, and demands to come with. In response to that, Spirit says he can't trust Marie, because the snake might still be residing within her. Besides, he knows Stein best. He's coming, too (instead of SITTING AROUND IN THE DEATH ROOM DOING NOTHING FOR SEVEN EPISODES).
During the battle against Stein and Medusa, Marie and Spirit both try to lunge for Stein, but Medusa cuts them off with an attack. Marie ends up separated and with Medusa vs. Crona, while Spirit ends up separated and fighting Stein alone.
When Medusa taunts Crona for being an obedient child, Marie cuts in with, "Yes, they ARE obedient! And kind, and gentle, and patient! That's why you don't deserve to call yourself their mother!" She turns to Crona and nods, affirming her trust in them. This is a resolution to Marie's saying that she can't trust Crona until she sees them fight Medusa, and fills Crona with emotion and strength: they realize they have another mother who cares about them more than Medusa ever did.
Meanwhile, Stein says to Spirit what he did to Marie in canon (begging him to run away before he attacks), adding that "I hurt you once before, I'll do it again!" but Spirit stands strong. He might be terrified inside, but he doesn't show fear the way Marie does, because he's seen Stein like this before.
Inside Stein's head, we see the radio. LET'S TALK ABOUT THE RADIO. In canon, Medusa tells him to smash it, and at one point it seems the radio might be his way of hearing the outside world, because he hears Maka's voice? But usually, his own voice is muttering nonsense, and it seems to represent his madness, in which case Medusa would never suggest he destroy it. Then the solution is to "accept it," which is not a good suggestion given the in-universe context and ALSO doesn't have anything to do with the radio metaphor.
So, in this rewrite, the radio is clearly representative of his madness. It's Stein's own voice, repeating things like "follow the path of madness," "you belong to Medusa now," "dissect everything," etc. Stein tries to reach towards the radio to turn it off, but every time he does, he seems to interfere with it and a loud, awful static noise happens over the voices. This makes it so he can't hear the voices, but is also painful, and he keeps stopping to cover his ears. He can't get close to the radio, so he doesn't know what to do. He doesn't want to listen to it, but if he tries to turn it off, the static gets louder and hurts him.
Medusa suggests that he just stop trying to fight it. If he stops fighting it, the voices will come in clearly, and he won't be in pain anymore. "Just accept it; just listen to the voices. That's what you really want, anyway, isn't it?"
While he fights Spirit, both of them are going all-out, yet exceedingly good at dodging and blocking each other—because they were Weapon and Meister for years, and they both know how the other moves. Because of this, Spirit manages to corner Stein against a wall with a blade to his throat.
Stein, with his eyes shadowed over so it's unclear if he is mad or sane, tells Spirit to just cut it off and end it all. Spirit shakes his head, and reaches out to soul resonate with Stein.
He enters Stein's headspace the same way we see happen often with Maka and Soul; he sees Stein crouched on the floor, hands to his ears, and the radio. Stein explains the situation, and tells Spirit to try smashing it with his blade. Spirit can tell this will kill Stein, but Stein says he doesn't care. "I can't fight it. I'd rather have it destroyed."
(The fights between Medusa/Crona/Marie and Spirit/Stein cut back and forth to add tension; I'm just telling them in order to make things clear.)
Spirit walks over, seeming as if he will smash the radio—then reaches out to the dial and turns it. It's a volume dial. The voices turn way, way, down. Stein looks up, startled and looking as though the pain has suddenly rescinded.
Spirit explains: "You're right. You can't fight it—not alone. That's why you need people around to help you. I can't turn it off, but I can at least turn down the noise."
In the real world, we see that Spirit has turned Stein's head gear. It looks like the radio dial. Stein has been trying to turn it down himself all this time, to no avail, but when Spirit turns it, it works. Stein falls against Spirit momentarily before opening his eyes and waking back up into sanity.
"Spirit..." "Yeah?" "Sorry about experimenting on you." "Eh. If you really want to apologize, you can buy me a sake when we get back."
It's Soul Eater, it's a comedy.
At this point, Marie is able to get to them, and throws herself into the hug, overjoyed to see Stein back to normal. She pulls Stein's glasses out of her pocket and hands them to him. It seems the battle is finally going their way, but Medusa is preparing another attack on Crona.
At this point, the canon resumes as normal, with Maka and Soul showing up, etc. Absolutely nothing in the other plots is ruined, since Spirit would've just spent the entire time stuck in the Death Room with Azusa.

Diabolik Lovers LOST EDEN ー Azusa Maniac [08]
ー The scene starts with a black screen
Kino: Come on, get in already.
Azusa: O-Okay...
*Rustle rustle*
ー The scene shifts to the inside of the car
Azusa: ( I wonder what exactly Kino-san has in store for me...? )
( Since we got inside a car, does that mean this job takes place somewhere far-away...? )
( For one...I can’t imagine there’s any task I could possibly pull off... )
...Hey, Kino-san?
Kino: Ah, wait. I’d rather not have you ask me any questions about what’s to come.
Azusa: What do you mean...?
Kino: I was only asked to bring you here, that’s all.
So you should ask him instead. There, the person in the passenger’s seat.
Azusa: Oh...
( ...A man? That’s a Priest’s attire, isn’t it...? )
Excuse me...Who are you...?
???: I did my research on you, Mukami Azusa.
The left arm you lost...
I heard you amputated it to save yourself from the injury you sustained after being shot by one of our guns?
Azusa: ( Our guns...? So this guy is a Vampire Hunter!? )
...
Male Clergyman A: Hmph...Whatever.
I have come here to make you a splendid offer. ...Do you perhaps seek power?
Azusa: ...!
Male Clergyman A: You are a good person at heart, are you not? I believe that someone like you could bring peace to the Demon World in no time.
Azusa: ...
Male Clergyman A: However, you need power to accomplish that. It’s something you’re uncapable of in your current situation.
That’s why we would like to make an offer. If it was one of us who caused you to lose your left arm.
Then we would very much like to make it up to you by supplying you with the power you need...You see.
Azusa: Eh...?
Male Clergyman A: However, you must use your powers for our cause.
Azusa: In other words...You’re asking me to betray my own kind...?
I can’t do that. I’m...a Vampire after all.
Male Clergyman A: You won’t betray them. ...You have always been a former human, no?
Azusa: How do you know that...?
Male Clergyman A: I found out while conducting my research. That you were born human.
Of course, I had my suspicions at first, but now that I’ve gotten a chance to meet you in person, I feel like it’s the truth.
That you indeed are...a person with human emotions just like us.
Azusa: ...Oh...
Male Clergyman A: That’s exactly why I’m making you this offer. Why not try looing at it from a human’s perspective?
Azusa: Think about it...?
Male Clergyman A: Exactly. Demons suppress humans and have now started to take control of their world.
Behind all big wars and conflicts in the human world, there are almost always Demons pulling the strings behind the scenes.
To us humans, Demons bring nothing but problems. Do you wish to defend them regardless?
Azusa: Well...
( I doubt this guy is lying... )
( That’s exactly why...I’m at a loss. )
( I wonder if I truly want to protect Demons deep down...? )
( If they were to attack Eve and the others, then... )
( What...would I do? )
...
Male Clergyman A: You don’t have to make a decision right here, right now. I’ll wait for your answer. Please tell Kino-kun whenever you’ve found your answer.
ー They get out of the car as the scene shifts to the business district
Azusa: ...
...Hey, Kino-kun. Can I ask something...?
Kino: Hm, yes?
Azusa: Since you’re working together with those people...Are you on the humans’ side as well despite being a Demon yourself?
Kino: Ahaha, no, I’m not. I honestly don’t care about what happens to humans.
I’m only working with them right now because what they’re trying to do also helps me get rid of all Demons which are in my way.
We’re basically feigning ignorance and letting ourselves get used, all for our own personal gain.
Azusa: ...I see.
( Kino-san sure is something else. I can’t believe he can flip the mental switch so easily. )
Kino: Well, they said they’ll wait for your answer, so why don’t you put some thought into it?
Azusa: ...Yeah...
( I wonder...If I can feel the same way he does...? )
( And not care about what happens to others, as long as it benefits Eve and the others in the end... )
( ... )
ー A flashback ensues
Azusa: ...If only I was strong...
Yui: Eh...?
Azusa: ...If only I was strong, I could save everyone...
At this rate...I feel like I’ll let all of you suffer the same fate as the Vibora Clan...
That’s why I just can’t...simply sit here and wait for that to happen as I twiddle my thumbs...
ー The flashback ends
Azusa: ( I want to...protect Eve and the others... )
( I want to grow stronger...for that sake as well... )
( If the power to be able to protect them...comes at a price...then I’ll... )
ー The scene shifts to the dungeon at Kino’s manor
Yui: ...
( He’s still not back...I know Ruki-kun said not to worry, but will everything be alright? )
Selection
→ Try to distract oneself
Yui: ( No point in fretting over it forever. I’ll try to take my mind off it. )
Phew...Haah...
...
( I guess taking deep breaths won’t help much... )
→ Think about Azusa-kun (❦)
Yui: ( I can’t believe it’s this painful to be separated from Azusa-kun... )
( I can’t wait to see him. )
ー She hears footsteps in the distance
Yui: ( ...!? These footsteps... )
Yuuri: Well then, we’ve arrived.
Azusa: Thank you.
Yui: ーー Azusa-kun!
ー Azusa enters the cell
*Clunk*
Yuuri: Please do not consider trying to break out of this prison.
Azusa: ...Yes, I know.
ー Yuuri leaves
Azusa: Eve, you guys...Sorry for making you worried...
Yui: Azusa-kun...
Kou: For real! I was worried sick!
Yuma: They didn’t do anythin’ to ya, right? You’re fine, right?
Azusa: ...Nothing happened. I only had to listen to whatever Kino-san had to say as a way for him to kill some time...
Yui: I see...I’m so happy you’ve returned to us safe and sound.
Azusa: Yes...
Ruki: ...
Monologue
Now back inside the prison cell,
Azusa-kun seemed a little more cheerful than before.
Because after spending the past few days looking depressed,
he would finally smile again every now and then.
It feels like I’m blinded by this peaceful atmosphere (和やかな空気) after not experiencing it for so long.
While spending time like this,
I nearly forgot the fact that we’ve been locked up inside a prison.
However, deep inside my heart,
I felt somewhat suspicious of Azusa-kun’s behavior.
Because it the look in his eyes,
led me to assume he had made his resolve (決意) in some wayーー ...

Hi! I don't know id someone asked it before, but let's fantasize about it, what if Mukami's were able to become Adams, what would they do with this power / how would they treat Eve after that/ if they would seek for even more power and establishing them with such power as Vampire kings / their relationship with Karlheinz after that for example? We can only see how Sakamaki's became Adams, why not thinking about how Mukami's would handle this?
Thank you for your ask, Anon.
I honestly haven't thought about this much. But Kou actually gained Karlheinz's power in Lost Eden in his Vampire End. You can read the translation of it on @dialovers-translations blog if you wish: LOST EDEN - Kou [VAMPIRE END].
Here we see that Kou used the power to travel back in time and save the world with Subaru. After that he lived in the new Eden he and Yui created together. He is still grateful to Karlheinz for saving him, but also happy to be together with Yui, seeing her as his most important family.
I could imagine that things would go similarly with the other Mukamis if they were to turn into Adam in their own routes. They would do whatever would be necessary to save the world with the new power they have and after that, build their new life.
Somehow, I would think that Yuuma and Azusa would put their trust in Ruki and ask him to help out with handling the realm. It's probably because I don't see them as leader types.
If Ruki still learned the truth about what Karlheinz did in the past, he would probably need to find his own resolution and peace in his heart. I could imagine Yui helping him with that. And probably in the end, he might even feel like Kou: grateful for having the opportunity to have a new life with Yui.
Thank you for your help in sorting out my thoughts @ruki-mukami-dl and @psychoxis.

There's a frog-themed Midweek Magic this week where you make a historic brawl deck with any cards (even ones you don't own) and you get two emblems. One is a gimmicky sacrifice ability-manipulation thing, and the other is THIS FUCKER
So obviously, everyone is stuffing their decks with frogs and changelings to take advantage of this absurd cost reduction effect. Except they're not. It seems like everyone except me is stupid and is playing a regular historic brawl deck that just happens to have a frog commander, and they're all getting stomped by my pile of frogs, lead by Grolnok to make sure I never run out of frogs to cast.
This is the first time I've ever done well in a constructed event
btw @thatonebjp you probably want to get in on this if you haven't already. If you'd like to jump right in, here's my decklist to copy for importing:

Fire Baptism Greater than Azusa: Igniting Your Heart to Receive Fresh Holy Fire
Many Christian leaders, even at Azusa, have long maintained that more is coming.
Many have prophetically described what happened at Azusa as a releasing of the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Many have further described what is coming as a releasing of the baptism in the Holy Spirit and fire (see Luke 3:16).
First Corinthians 13 tell us, “we know in part and we prophesy in part,” so to see the whole picture we must put our parts together. This is the genius and glory of the church that will one day compel us to come together in a unity that is so great that the Lord can trust us with such unprecedented power and authority. Still, to describe what it means to be baptized with the Holy Spirit and fire cannot be answered in a single statement without tragically reducing its meaning. A new Pentecost is coming that is not new, but a recovery of some aspects of the baptism in the Holy Spirit yet to be recovered.
This belief has been at the foundation of possibly every move of God since Pentecost. To believe we have all there is or that the present church is all we are called to be is pride, delusion, or both. Some of these major missing factors include holiness, integrity, morality, and the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom (see Psalm 111:10)—all things the great Pentecostal leaders told us came with the baptism of fire. The baptism with fire will both purify and embolden us.

In Acts 4:31, the disciples who had lost their courage were filled again and “spoke the word of God with boldness” and without fear of consequences. This remained a hallmark of the first-century church, but where is this courage today? Today, there is a new stirring of the Spirit and a new critical mass forming that will bring a release of the baptism with the Holy Spirit like a nuclear reaction. A new Pentecost is coming, and it is right to ask for more. The Bible was not written just so we can believe what happened in it was true, but so we can believe for the same to happen in our lives today and to honor what happened in the past. Azusa was a seed, but now is the time for the harvest, and you may be the one who strikes the match that releases that fire!
The humbler you are, the better candidate you are for revival. When the Holy Spirit comes, all flesh and presumption flee. This was the hallmark of Azusa Street. Knowledge and eloquence bowed a knee to love and pure devotion, just as the apostles before the Sanhedrin in Acts created no small stir.
There’s a difference between preaching from knowledge and preaching from a well of living water that flows from God’s throne. This was a central lesson of Azusa. When God wants to move, He doesn’t look for someone wise enough, He looks for someone humble enough to follow Him. That the Lord chooses people as His habitation is one of the greatest marvels of creation. God also chooses people to do His work and often chooses individuals to ignite new moves of the Spirit. We see this throughout Scripture and history. There were also others who were prepared to keep those fires burning and lay the foundations for those gains.
Few in history have been able to find the delicate balance between being used by God and trying to use God, or as one Christian teacher put it, seeking one’s own recognition at the expense of God’s glory. Seymour’s hunger to see God move led him to keep men’s hands off the revival, and so long as he maintained this devotion, the revival fires continued to burn. From beginning to end, the revival could not be attributed to human charisma or promotion. When it did, the revival ended.
True moves of God are not fueled by money, organization, or advertising. True revivals come when the presence of God (the pillar of fire) moves. To try and organize, promote, or sell a move of God is profane. Instead, when the Spirit wants to move in some creative way, He looks for humble people, those without all the answers, who invariably stimulate a holy desperation and dependency on God. They are the ones who are responsive to the Lord when He wants to do a new thing. In times of dynamic outpourings of the Spirit, like at Azusa Street, the Lord can only use people who are completely yielded to Him to do something new. As Jesus explained to Nicodemus: “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit” (John 3:8).
Those who have tried to duplicate the Azusa Street Revival have often become pitiful caricatures of the original. There is not a single example in church history of a church (wineskin) being built before a revival (new wine) was given. Those who have tried to build the wineskin first were unable to receive the new wine. One common quality in those mightily used by the Spirit throughout history has been hearing the Spirit move, then moving the way He wanted.
I have studied church history for nearly fifty years now and much of that has been devoted to revivals, but the Azusa Street Revival is, by far, among the most interesting and compelling. My goal, and I know Jeff Oliver’s goal, has been, not only to share insights from history, but also to help prepare those who will make history. Though I have tried to study every true move of God in history, my greatest interest remains in the one to come. The final move of God and greatest of all will be a combination and culmination of all revivals. You could be among the main characters in that one!
