After seeing @cannibal-nightmares' artwork, I had the thought that Stein sewed a patchwork teddy bear for Maka's birth.

This idea got me thinking. We know that Stein knew Maka when she was little, through the dialogue in their fight. (This could just be a German dub thing) But Maka can't remember it, which suggests that she was still very young.

So when did Spirit and Stein completely cut off contact with each other?

I know someone else has already raised this idea, but how did they manage to avoid each other for so long? Death City isn't that big of a city.
