“Ram Mandir Ayodhya”
Let's talk about the beauty of India – “Ram Mandir Ayodhya”.
The story of Ram Mandir dates back to ancient times when Ayodhya was the capital of the mighty kingdom of Kosala. The revered epic, Ramayana, chronicles Rama's life, his exile, and the triumph of good over evil in the form of the demon king Ravana. Ram Mandir - the living testament to the confluence of history, devotion, and the collective heartbeat of a nation. This sacred sanctuary, arising from the dust of centuries, is not just a place of worship but a symphony of stories etched into the very soul of India. The journey towards the construction of this magnificent temple is woven into the very fabric of India's rich cultural tapestry, blending history, religion, and the collective consciousness of millions.

Huge Turnout of Devotees at Ayodhya Ram Temple Following 'Pran Pratishtha'
The highly anticipated opening of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya has drawn massive crowds a day after the grand consecration ceremony, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attended by numerous political figures and celebrities.
Prior to the temple’s public opening, a surge of devotees gathered at the site, with crowds assembling as early as 3 am. The gates will be accessible to the public from 7 am to 11:30 am and again from 2 pm to 7 pm.
The ‘pran pratishtha’ rituals unfolded yesterday, featuring PM Modi paying homage to the Ram Lalla idol. Distinguished guests, including Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, graced the ceremony with their presence.
Expressing his sentiments on Twitter, Prime Minister Modi stated, “The extraordinary moment of the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla’s life in Ayodhya Dham is going to leave everyone emotional. It is my great pleasure to be a part of this divine programme. Jai Siya Ram!”
Post the rituals, PM Modi addressed a gathering of approximately 8,000 individuals, comprising seers, Ram Janmabhoomi movement affiliates, and figures from various fields. The Prime Minister also visited Kuber Tila and engaged with workers contributing to the temple’s construction.
While the ceremony was broadcast nationwide, senior BJP leaders like JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah opted for live streaming. However, Opposition leaders chose to abstain from the event, leading to political disagreements between the BJP and the Opposition.
Several BJP-governed states declared the day a holiday, encouraging people to witness the ceremony on TV and partake in local temple festivities. Ayodhya’s atmosphere was further heightened by a devotional “Mangal Dhwani,” featuring 50 traditional musical instruments from across the country.
The construction of the Ram Temple concluded a protracted legal battle, culminating in the Supreme Court’s verdict in November 2019 in favor of the temple. Prime Minister Modi, in a national address, heralded the consecration of Ram Lalla’s idol as the dawn of a new era.
Addressing the nation, PM Modi remarked, “I have come before you as you witness the divine consciousness in the temple’s sanctum sanctorum. There’s so much to say, but there’s a lump in my throat. After unprecedented patience, innumerable sacrifices, and penance, our Lord Ram has arrived. I congratulate the country on this occasion.”
PM Modi called for unity, emphasizing that the temple signifies not just triumph but also humility, underscoring India’s maturity in resolving historical disputes. He urged critics to reconsider their perspectives, highlighting that Ram symbolizes energy, not fire, and is a solution, not a dispute.
“The construction of this temple of Ram Lalla is also a symbol of the Indian society’s peace, patience, and mutual harmony. We can see this has not given birth to a fire, but an energy,” he affirmed in a powerful and emotional post-consecration speech, invoking the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbkam,’ stating that Ram defines the world as a family.

Introduction: Ram Mandir Pranpratishtha
The Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, stands at the heart of a historical and controversial saga. Dedicated to Rama, a principal deity of Hinduism, the temple's construction has been a subject of intense debate and legal battles.

Ancient and Medieval History:
According to the ancient Indian epic, Ramayana, Rama was born in Ayodhya. The site of the temple, however, witnessed destruction in the 16th century when Babur, in a series of temple raids, is believed to have attacked and destroyed the original temple. The Babri Masjid, constructed by the Mughals on the purported birthplace of Rama, added a layer of complexity to the historical narrative.
Early Signs of Religious Tension:
The first instance of religious violence was documented in 1853, and by December 1858, the British administration prohibited Hindus from conducting rituals at the contested site. A platform was designated for rituals outside the mosque, setting the stage for a prolonged dispute.
Modern Developments:
In the 1980s, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) launched a movement to reclaim the site for Hindus, leading to the construction of a makeshift temple inside the Babri Masjid. The controversy escalated in 1992 when a rally organized by the VHP and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) turned violent, resulting in the demolition of the mosque.
The aftermath of the mosque's destruction saw inter-communal violence, claiming lives and triggering riots across the Indian subcontinent. Attacks on Hindu temples in Pakistan and Bangladesh added to the tensions. (more)

DOES MODERNIZATION LEAD TO CULTURAL LOSS? Nov 9 was the date when the decision for the most debated topic, Ayodhya Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid dispute, was taken. It was neither in favor of the Hindus nor the Muslims. Both of them were given equal rights. No one was discriminated. We all know that India is a diverse and a secular country. India being culturally developed, is also leading towards modernization. Modernization, in a broad sense, implies to transformation of traditional, rural and agrarian society into secular, industrial and urban one. This might seem a positive change to be brought in the society but some people think that it degrades our cultural values. They think so because in order to achieve modernization various industries are set-up, construction of roads take place, newer technologies are developed and most importantly, people change their lifestyle. People change the way they dress, live and talk and this leads to misunderstanding among spiritual people that the people are losing their traditions and cultural values due to modernization. But in reality it is not so. In order to become a developed country, modernization is must. If there is no modernization then there won’t be new technologies which will make our life, in the 21st century, difficult. But the thing is, just wearing trendy clothes, using newer technologies and living in modern apartments does not make one modern. Modernization rather has a broader and deeper meaning. Just as culture means the ideas and customs that one person or the society follows, modernization is upgrading the culture according to the needs of the developing world. Now the crucial question is whether modernization lead to cultural loss. For this let us take example of the Ayodhya case. The verdict of this case was given recently. Now this topic is worth thinking upon. If modernization would have led to cultural loss then no one would have stood up regarding this topic. The people would have lost their traditions and customs and would not have cared about it. But surprisingly the situation is opposite. People are supporting their religion and fighting for their rights.
So we cannot really conclude that modernization leads to cultural loss. But we should keep in mind that modernization means accepting the contemporary ideas which are beneficial for the society. Also, following our custom doesn’t mean following malpractices and discriminating other groups. People should understand that along with following the culture, modernization of the nation is equally important. VIDULA PATIL IX MEMBER OF THOUGHTSEAL

Celebrating Rama!
Ayodhya waited for fourteen years for the return of Rama from exile. The Hindus have waited for 493 long years for Lord Rama to return to a respectable home- A Mandir dedicated to him! Rama has been an innate part of our culture and tradition.
Such is Rama infused into our lives that many people use Rama’s name as a salutation like, “Ram Ram Ji”, “Jai Shri Ram!”, “Jai Siya Ram!”, “Ram Ram sa!”, “Sai Ram!”
Rama’s life was full of strife, hardship and sacrifice. Even Sita’s life was no less strife-ridden. But, both of them always upheld the cause of Dharma and duty. Their character and persona are truly worth emulating.
India has a history of being oppressed by Muslim invaders for years. They mowed down our temples and universities etc. Later the British ruled us. Even after Independence the Hindus have been fighting for the Ram Janmbhoomi.
The British created a mindset wherein people who could not speak or read English were looked down upon. They made fun of our religious and cultural traditions. They created a mindset that Indian clothes, food, games, festivals, language etc. were all backward and for the illiterate only. The British made us feel that we were inferior to them. Indian scholars like Aryabhatta, Kanada, Chanakya, Sushruta etc. have never been glorified.
Thankfully the mindset of our people has started changing. The latest discovery the world has made about the wisdom in Indian traditions is the ‘Namaskaar’. In COVID everyone stays at arm’s length from each other. Gone are the days of greeting with hugs and kisses. Now the world is doing Namaskaar! The word ‘Namaskaar’ or ‘Namaha- sakaar’ literally means, I bow to the Divine immanent in you. It also ensures that there is no contact hence no transfer of germs! Suddenly the Indian way is being recognized as worthy of being emulated!
It has taken almost 500 years to be able to start making the Mandir for the Lord who means so much to us! Since many years ‘Ram Lalla’ was housed in a temporary tent like structure. My late father-in-law Balramji Dass Tandon had visited Ayodhya some years ago. He wept seeing Ram Lalla housed in a structure that was inappropriate to say the least. I remember him saying that he felt ashamed that we live in a bungalow, while our Lord lives in a tent! He prayed that the Mandir would be made soon. Like him, many people in fact many generations, have come and gone. They have struggled, prayed and fought for the making of the Ram Mandir.
After a long and bumpy trial, the Supreme Court gave the verdict that the Ramjanm Bhoomi was actually ‘Ram-Janm-Bhoomi’! Sometimes the solution is there in the riddle itself!!!
The Foundation stone of the Ram Mandir shall be laid by the Prime Minister, on August 5th. The Bhoomipooja will be attended by about 200 people. The temple will be 161 feet high and constructed in the Nagara style of architecture. It will have five Domes. The construction would be done in three years. It is said that a time capsule will be placed 2000 feet under the Ram Temple. This is for those interested in its History. It would also ensure that in future if any dispute comes up, the history of the temple and all facts will be available in it, to prove that this is where Rama was born. The writings would be done on copper plates so that they stay good for posterity.
Holy water is being brought from many sacred rivers for the Bhoomipoojan. Soil is being brought in from many places of pilgrimage. Prayers are going to be offered and obeisance is going to be paid to the five elements.
The country is abuzz with excitement and exhilaration over it. I pray that Rama-Rajya will soon be a reality. I pray for a country where there is justice for all and morality is ingrained in each one of us.
May the Rama Mandir be unifying factor where all of us realize the great life lessons taught by Rama. His life was his message.
And while the temple construction is being started at Ayodhya, do give this a thought- Do make a little Mandir in your house. It could be in a room, or on a table or even a shelf or on a window sill, where you can place a picture or an idol of God. The form of God could be Rama or Krishna or Sai Baba or any other… for they are all the same. And if you cannot find any place for making in niche for the Lord, then try to clear the clutter in your heart and install Him there! And if even that is not possible, then as you do Namaskaar, try to visualize Him in everyone!
Tann mein Ram, Mann mein Ram, Sab mein Ram samaya!
Dear friends, This is a great day for us all! Do partake of the sentiment! I look forward to knowing your thoughts :) - Priya S. Tandon

I generally refrain from writing about something that has a political lining on it or can seem unpleasant to many, but, this here needed attention. I am writing after long with mixed feelings inside, so maybe, this may seem a little vague to many. Kindly let me know your thoughts on my blurred views on this controversial topic. The review has been pending since 134 long years. Must have been something very challenging that it took so long for a verdict to be out. In this run of 134 years, we have heard stories of people of both Muslim and Hindu sects loosing their lives, the war like situation which arose whenever the decision had to be taken. Maybe that’s the reason our elders are happiest about the final verdict finally coming out. Not to forget, the situation was quite intense this time too. Lives of the people responsible for passing the judgement was in danger. Extra security personnel were transferred in Ayodhya as well as Jammu and Kashmir to avoid spreading of any sort of communal disharmony. My take on the verdict :- I personally feel that the judgement was very balanced. Both sects were considered equal before taking the decision. The facts , archaeologists supported Hinduism, hence, the original land was given to them. WOW !!! It was huge. I am sure, like my family, there were many who celebrated. Everyone was happy with the verdict unless the politicians started spreading their venom of hatred. Though I wonder, why do not the Hindus of our INDIA ever stand united on any decision. There were many who didn’t support this call and criticised the government, saying its just the piece of land, what if it was a Masjid being built and so on forgetting that there was a reason of Barbar making a Masjid after demolishing the Temple. If a Masjid was being built again, there would have been happiness all around and no questions of Secularism. The politicians would have been mum. If they would have spoken against Masjid, wouldn’t their posts be in danger? But yes, I have started feeling that Hinduism is the only religion where people are not proud of their religion. They feel they are not being secular if they speak for their religion and unknowingly support other religions. Although, It is one of the few religions which doesn’t force people to be converted. Maybe we have forgotten that decision can evr be taken in favour of Hindus and hence many are against it. :) Now that decision is out, it is our responsibility to respect it than spreading hate. We have to stand for our religion, discuss and know why was it so important for our elders. Why was it pending since long? and why is the Muslim board threatening people on the decision, even though they wanted the supreme court to take the decision? I respect all religions and I do not disrespect mine :) There is a lot more to write, but would like to know your views on this once.

Many of the people seem to accept Ayodhya judgement on the grounds that the verdict is delivered so that country can be in peace, that society does not go into disarray. There is underlying assumption that if verdict was otherwise then country would go into disarray. That riots will break loose. Nobody wants to mention or even think who will these rioters be...
Anyway, most agree with this judgement for this reason and not because it's a just judgement.
All of them needs to be reminded that this is same country where Allahabad High Court once ruled against sitting Prime Minister. On 12 June 1975, HC unseated Indira Gandhi from her Prime Ministership. As a result there was Emergency, her killing and Sikh riots in which many many lost their lives.
Does that mean that judgement was wrong? Hell not. Judgements are supposed to be given without worrying about what will happen as a result. Courts should do justice even if it means to go against the powerful or against the majority people.
That's what inspires people to approach courts.
