Jimi Hendrix’s stratospheric guitar skills are inescapably obvious, the scale of his experimentation is exceptionally plain to see, his attention to composition is wildly detailed, his singing qualities are critically sorely underrated and his legacy is entirely incalculable – but I’ve never managed to enjoy his music beyond its technical quality and historical importance. In the hunt for emotional attachment, in the quest for music I can get addicted to and submerse myself in, he hasn’t really managed to truly satisfy.

Compared to the mediocre cover of Are You Experienced, this is a massive improvement. I always get a kick out of Hindu-inspired art.

Tellingly, Reprise liked it enough that they didn't change it when the album was brought to the States. It's the only cover in the Experience studio canon that wasn't changed.
