Okay so I'm in the middle of translating the previously mentioned stuff that my mother messaged to me so that I can share them with my roommate, and there is one outlining that my parents had to explain to me that cows in Vietnam and cows in other countries were the same thing.

Apparently, child me did not fully understand the concept of different languages even though I grew up in a very multilingual setting, and I thought that the different words for cows meant that they were different animals from each other entirely. My parents had to explain it to me that they're the same animal, and my mother specifically noted me as being "kind of skeptical" about their explanations. 😭 Child me was a dumbass.

so they came on a saturday and we showed them around campus. and ty’s brother was saying how there were so many “hot college girls” and his friend was like “yeah tyler youre lucky” and ty goes “i know my girlfriend is hot” 💀 and ty’s sister was like “you guys are gross” and to be annoying i looked at her and go “what about you? see any cute college guys” and both ty and his brother go “no.” it was so funny they were so deadass 💀 and i was like “i’m just playing” and ty goes “she’s too young for boys” and she was like “ugh i’m right here” ty looked at her with raised eyebrows and threw an arm around her and goes “oh? is there a boy youre not telling me about?” she blushed and grumbled out a “no. you’re annoying” ty just looked at her for a sec but then goes “good. boys suck. but i better know when there is one.” seeing him be all protective big brother was actually really cute 🥺🥺 she looked at me and i shrugged. lol her secret crush is safe with me but i couldn’t help her with that one.

we took them out to eat on saturday too. and hung out at ty’s place with his roommates and some of his friends after. his sister did confide in me that some college boys are cute but are too old 💀 i never felt so old in my life lol. we all ended up being up super late bc after ty’s friends left we started a movie. i fell asleep cuddling ty on the couch. but i woke up in his bed so i guess he carried me. and i was like omg i just slept here i was gonna go home and not have your siblings think i stay here all the time. and he was like “we literally shared a room at my house. i think they know you sleep in my bed sometimes” hes the worst. but i got up anyway and his sister was awake. her and i went on a walk while the boys slept. she updated me on school and friends and middle school drama. and ofc her crush lol. apparently he was supposed to come visit too but someone in his family got sick and they didnt know if it was a cold or covid so he didnt. but she said they might come visit ty again with him and how excited she was for that. this poor girl omg. shes literally so adorable though i love her.

then we got back from our walk and she helped me make the batter for pancakes and i cooked them. and ty came in the kitchen and was like “oh you’re the best” and kissed me and his sister went “ew” and his brother goes “not over the pancakes i want to eat those” and his friend was like “yeah clean pancakes please” and his sister goes “besides i helped make the pancakes” and ty goes “oh well in that case” and gave her a super extra kiss on the cheek and she whined about it lol. but it was so cute 🥺 oh and sometimes she calls him “ty-ty” bc that was her childhood nickname for him and its the sweetest thing ever 🥺🥺🥺 -roommate anon

Hi! I haven't made anything for my friends before but I'm really into knitting nowadays and surprisingly good at it so I decided to give it a go this year haha. I couldn't imagine spending few days before Christmas at the beach - right now it is -1C and 8cm of snow in here haha. Though that's actually really warm and I'm kinda sad about it! We usually just clean the house and prep meals few days before Christmas! Your music taste sounds really great! How about movies - your favourites? :) -SS

Oh, I so wish I could knit/crochet. I’ve wanted to try it for so long, but I have a terrible habit of starting and stopping when I try to learn things like that, so none of the tutorials ever seem to stick with me. I’ve decorated shirts, and created pictures, and made bracelets and stuff like that, though.

Haha, it’s been pretty cold there in the past - one year it was cold and rainy most of the time we were there - but it’s nice to just go and sit and listen to the ocean if nothing else. I like pulling on something snuggly and walking around the beach. It’s so calming!

See, actually prepping the meals sounds a lot better than waiting until the day of or night before and freaking out, hahah.

Aww, thanks, Santa! One of my former roommates used to joke that my itunes library was basically the 90s on shuffle, haha. She wasn’t wrong and I like it that way. What kind of music do you like?

101117 | I’ve been so ridiculously busy.. I haven’t had the chance to sit down and write a proper journal entry. Just got back from a four day trip to New York on Monday, my birthday was yesterday, and omg, like.. it was literally one of my favorite birthdays ever. I was tired as shiiiit son, so I slept in on Tuesday, Kristy screamed happy birthday so loud it woke me up lol, went to the gym, then I screamed really loud because Dee grabbed me from behind to wish me a happy birthday lol then walking back out to campus from the apartment, Dani sang happy birthday, got lots of calls and text messages throughout the day, sooo much love.. ran into Iman and Clarissa in UH and got happy birthday love. BOLD meeting got more love from my sisters, and Dr. Espinoza did a new thing where she made us go through a gratitude exercise which definitely helped boost my mood as if I wasn’t already walking on cloud 9 from all the birthday love. Got dinner from the g-nome and then got back to my apartment to get ready for dinner with the girls. 

This next part was the best part of the day: the doorbell rang, so I went to answer the door, opened it, and guess who was standing there! It was Brandon! He came to surprise me on my birthday and even sat through terrible rush hour traffic to do so. He was holding a beautiful bouquet of flowers and omg when I saw him I started bawling my eyes out and immediately reached out to give him a big hug. I didn’t think I would get to see him until November because I know how busy he is during the week with school, so it was a really big deal that he came out to see me. I really didn’t expect that he was going to come out for my birthday. Also, about an hour before then or even less, he called me to let me know that he was going to Fry’s to pick some stuff up, so I really thought he was just out running errands! I was so surprised, so in shock, and so in disbelief that Brandon said that he saw me “short-circuit” when I opened the door, but omg I was so happy, I couldn’t help but cry on his shoulder as i hugged him.

He brought me the cutest bouquet, chocolates, and wrote me the sweetest card. We walked inside, and as I continued to cry, one of my roommates walked in loll I turned around with tears streaming down my face all embarrassed hahah. The only words I could say were, “My boyfriend surprised me,” and Iman started laughing and  said that I was going to make her cry haha. She took the trash that was lying out and said she was going to throw it out. Later Iman told me that she didn’t see Brandon there, she just saw me crying and was about to jump somebody lmao, then she saw Brandon, and it registered that I was crying tears of joy hahah. 

Anyways, so I got ready and then had dinner with a bunch of the girls at BJs, I think there were 20 of us there. It was wonderful. I felt bad though because it’s midterms week, and everyone had papers and midterms and shit is crazy right now. but they made it out to celebrate my birthday, so it really really meant a lot for them to do that. Dinner was fun, got to connect with a bunch of the girls, and had some laughs. Brandon came :3 even though he was supposed to leave, and one of the girls brought her husband, so we all met him for the first time. It was wonderful. Even got a birthday gift and a beautiful card. I really couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful birthday. 

Anyways, skip forward to coming back home. Brandon brought me home, and he left, I was sad, but still grateful that at least I got to see him. So I sat outside on one of the stone benches in front of the apartments just to take it all in because it was a hectic and beautiful day. Then I saw some of my roommates coming back from the dinner as well. We all walked inside together. Before I walked in my room, I saw a little sticky note on the door that said, “We love you,” and I thought, “Aww, how sweet, I love my roommates.” They were behind me, and they said, “we love you too” And then I opened the door to my room, and second real surprise of the day, they decorated it with Birthday streamers and balloons ToT I would have cried, but I was all cried out at that point. omg of course, and group hug ensued. 

God, my heart this day. It just kept expanding expanding expanding with all the love that I got from all of my friends, sisters, family, loved ones, boyfriend, I can’t believe how beautiful my day went. I really could not have asked for a better birthday. My last year in college. My first year in an apartment with real roommates. Fond memories I will never forget. This birthday was definitely one for the books. While it wasn’t as viscerally exciting as going out and clubbing with my friends in San Diego or going karaokeing or throwing a bigass house party that got shut down by the cops and getting lit af, things that I did in my younger years, it was picture-perfect. Honestly, the diverse sisterhood that I have right now, this is all I could have ever wanted from my college experience. God, I remember thinking as an elementary school student, about how beautiful diversity was, and being so grateful for my diverse group of friends. I haven’t felt this loved and this connected to a group of women since then tbh. They are the best gift I could have ever asked for. They are teaching me what it means to be a friend, and we are all growing together to tackle all the injustices and inequities of this world as a group. I have a group of wonderwomen at my side. I fucking finally found my tribe. 

Thank you God for all the blessings you have put into my life. I cherish them.. and I have to tack my boyfriend on to the end of this even though he deserves so much more. But he knows how much I love him, and I know how much he loves me. and I don’t need words to express that.. mostly because there are no words that can express the depth of love and connection that we feel for each other, and I will end with that. The story of my 25th chapter is just beginning. I am looking forward to all the blessings and opportunities for growth that God has in store for me. Thank you thank you thank you again God, Universe, for everything. I have made it through the darkness, and I realize again, that I have always had that light. and it was inside of me this whole time. I’m ready to fully shine and become that bright light for myself and for others once again. #blessed #grateful

kate! so last week one of neighbor boy’s roommates was sick so we didn’t have our homework night in person. he facetimed me instead 🙈 but his roommate is feeling better and tested negative for covid twice. and he is staying in his room. so i kind of took a chance. and told neighbor boy he could come over to mine to do homework 🙈 he said that’d be great. so he came over yesterday. i was finishing making dinner. chicken and veggies. i usually make enough to last me a few days so i had a lot. i asked if he wanted some. so we ate first and he complimented my food a lot and said it was delicious. i told him he had to cook for me next time and he agreed. but he said it wouldn’t be that good lol.

after we ate we did our homework and this week’s was short which we were like yay. but it was so hard 😫 it took us longer than the last long homework. and my roommates came out to grab their leftovers for dinner and they sat out there and were giving me looks. we ended up talking to them a little but also doing our work. they went back into their rooms finally though. when we finally finished our work though we just sat there and talked until my roommate came out and asked me to watch tangled. her and i have been meaning to watch it together. and i was like yeah ok fine. and he was like “the princess movie” and i was like “yeah don’t bash it it’s my one of my favorites” and he said “haven’t seen it” and my roommate gasped and said “we have to change that. sit.” and pointed to the couch. and he looked at me and i panicked 🙈 i was totally rambling and told him he could stay and watch it if he wanted to but he probably didn’t want to watch a princess movie so he could go home if he wanted. it was so embarrassing and my roommate was smirking and she didn’t even help me 😫 bitch. but he ended up sitting down on the couch and said hed stay. and i was scared to sit next to him but my roommate was like “oh you took her spot, you better hope she shares” 😫 i hate her sm. and he was like “i’m okay with sharing with her” 🙈🙈🙈 but he was looking at me so intensely when he said it i could feel myself getting warm and i didn’t even know what to do so i just sat on the couch and sighed dramatically and said “i guess if i have to” he laughed. and i accidentally sat really close to him (ok that sounds fake but it was really an accident) i was gonna move away but he put an arm around my shoulders and pulled me closer so i could lay my head on his chest. it was so cute 🥺 he stayed until the end of the movie and he said it was actually a good movie and he enjoyed it. i walked him out and yeah that was that 🙈 -neighbor anon

KATE!! so i wore my fave bikini that makes me feel good yesterday. at the end of the day ty and i got up to our room and he pinned me against the door. told me he was struggling all day bc i looked “sexy as fuck” 🙈 that one made me blush. good thing he was kissing my neck so he didnt notice. things got steamy but it wasnt teasing. we just went straight for it. then we showered together. and may have had a round 2. we were late for s’mores oops. when we went outside his one friend that i know that was in the car with us threw his arm around me. he said “glad you could join us” then he whisked me away from tyler 😭 he went with me to get a drink and was just asking about me. tyler talked with his other friends and just left me 😫 but then a few more came over to me and the one guy. i was doing fine. until ty came over and wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to him and he was kissing my neck 🙈 until i finally turned in his arms and gave him attention
