If you’re like me at all, then you love to explore and just see what’s out there. This is especially exciting if you’re in an area that is completely brand new to you. Sometimes, however, it can be tough to decide where to go, especially when it comes to food. What are you in the mood for? Italian? A Chinese buffet? Pizza? How about a good burger? That’s exactly what happened to me and my family on our way to check out Huntington, WV. After scrolling through Yelp for a solid 30 minutes, we finally said “screw it, I want a burger.” And that’s how we ended up at The Peddler (Link to their FB Page), a brewpub and arcade. Now, forewarning: If you have never been here before and you come off of Highway 64, be prepared to drive through a little bit of sketchy-looking area, but rest easy. The Peddler sits on a much nicer downtown street. The food was awesome. The three of us split a plate of the Pork wanton Nachos, and were pleasantly surprised by the combination of fried wantons, jalapeno and BBQ sauce. Kinda reminded us of Doritos, but better. We each ordered a different burger and sampled around. I played it safe and went with the Californication Burger, an awesome combo of beef, a sunny side up egg, smoked gouda, avacado, calamity ranch, and black bean corn pico. Absolutely delicious, but don’t be scared of getting a bit messy. If that’s a concern for you, then I’d recommend keeping the absolute fence-post of a toothpick in the burger, or you risk watching it all fall apart around you like what happened to me. Padre’ ordered himself the Big Texas burger, which came with not just a burger patty, but also brisket, jalapeno, and blueberry bbq sauce. Sounds weird, right? A+ delicious. My old man was all about it. Mom, on the other hand, went the most adventurous with the Brass Monkey. Funny name, right? But it earns it. This burger features, banana, cream cheese, and Thai peanut sauce. Now, I’m not a huge fan of banana, but even I enjoyed it, so that speaks volumes to me. On top of a great meal, the staff were very friendly and service was phenomenal. Our server was on point when it came to the menu and the drinks and was able to make spot-on recommendations. I was thoroughly impressed. 5 Stars, would recommend.
